Good news, everyone! I've finished the binge from hell (Criminal Minds).
What made it hellish was that I just could not stop. I don't know if it was also something about the show or just my out-of-control ADHD using this as an excuse to ignore my to-do list. And so this binge took under 2 months, which - FUN FACT! - is shorter than finding a doc these days to get an ADHD diagnosis from (the German healthcare system has such a good reputation, but honestly, shit's been going down the drain since before Covid - and I say that as a city dweller).
If you're wondering how my fragile mind managed to handle this non-stop input of murder and various forms of torture:
Ignore the cases or try to enjoy them as revenge fantasies.
Focus on the team and all the "Hey, I know you from this/that/everywhere!" guest stars instead.
Crochet while watching. I've made such progress, the first of my cherry-pit socks is nearly finished!
I can't believe how long it's been since I've properly watched TV: The season I'm most familiar with is 2! Since other factors hadn't come into play yet, I suspect what caused this was a deterioration in adhering to a schedule (hm, parallel with rl, so I guess due to not being bound by a rl schedule, I slowly lost the ability to keep up with the TV schedule) and my growing passionate hatred of annoying commercials which had led me to getting stuck on Nickelodeon (their ads were also annoying, iirc, but ... uh, idk, can't remember), a documentary channel and CNN (International, that is - such bearable commercials, they should be the model for all).
I liked all the women on the team, which must have been a first. I couldn't tell you a favorite, because every one of them is great in her own way. Let me point out Garcia though, for giving me back the joy of hair decorations. Huh, I thought not having NCIS's Abby in my life anymore didn't impact me, but Garcia made me realize that without Abby my encouragement was gone. Man, do I hate that I need continual encouragement to be myself! So there's another CM binge and the long-time-coming NCIS rewatch with making caps of my girls in my future. Maybe I'll make myself a motivational collage and hang it on the wall above my monitor.
Anyway, on to the team's men! *sigh* Those were mixed bag for me. I mean, nobody was really bad, but it did span the whole range of chest-thumping type (which ugh - although Morgan's relationship with Garcia remains the best thing, they were close and cute but not a thing and that's the queerplatonic shit I wanna see everywhere, fuck yeah!) to guy who's just, idk, there and the that's-my-boy guy. My boy was and still is Reid *pat pat*. And as a bonus during this binge he functioned as my Peter Maximoff substitute. He did that not only by being my fave, but for example also by having messy lightbrown hair. Which, sure, isn't Peter, but it is Evan Peters (I'd like to take this moment to thank the writers for all the Evans and Peterss they put in and the casting person for that one time we got actual EP), who usually is my PM substitute. Hmph, I didn't talk about Spence as much as I meant to, but where to even begin?
How did everyone feel about the revival? It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite feel like previous seasons. I'm not that good at finding out what is bothering me about stuff, so it might have been more things besides it feeling darker visually and too much swearing (I'm generally not against it, but after 15 seasons of it not being there, it just felt so out of place). I wasn't happy with the lack of my boy, but if there's one thing this revival did right, it was the absence of change in the meantime (except for what they put Rossi through), Reid as well as everyone else still worked at the BAU, we just didn't see him and Simmons because they were on assignment.
I kinda want to talk about ALL the things, but I wouldn't be able to remember all that I want and writing all that I do would take sooo long. So if anyone wants to talk about anything specific, I'm here.

Left for Dead (1/2)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x Reader (Cheek to Cheek)
Word Count: 1,803
Warnings: mentions to bombs and mission stuff, mentions to past torture
A/N: a lil two parter! I'm def a shorter writer so I split up reader’s first mission as opposed to posting like a 5k one shot (unless y'all dig that better for the future???) I’m gonna queue the second part to post on Friday idk what time but otherwise we all know id forget... so. enjoy!
MAIN MASTERLIST | CHEEK TO CHEEK MASTERLIST
It was finally time for your first mission. The night before, F.R.I.D.A.Y. prompted you with the fact that there would be a briefing this morning at 8 A.M. You’d figured the superheroes weren’t the type to sleep in.
As much as you’d been enjoying the return of your clothes, you figured it’d be safest to keep the black-on-black outfit for these briefings and anything else you’d be involved in. Attention is not necessarily something you’d want to draw on yourself right now.
You finally find the room you’re supposed to be in and find about eighty other agents. A wave of anxiety rushes through you and you feel your stomach churn. You want to look around and find someone you recognize but Sam is the only one you see; you don’t know anybody. You’re scared to talk to new people, to have small talk, you’re scared of what they’ll say to you, if they’ll remember your face from the news.
You see near the front a blonde head of hair - Sharon. You haven’t spoken to her, but she’d be the safest bet, except there’s no empty seat on either side of her. She’s conversing with a woman with ginger hair to her left and a large body with short brown hair occupies the seat to her right - Bucky!
You notice there’s an empty seat next to him and quickly make your way over before your luck diminishes and someone takes it.
Bucky registers somebody take a seat next to him, which surprises him because most of the agents are still a little scared of him after spending seven weeks training with him. He certainly doesn’t treat them like shit, but he doesn’t baby them, either. He almost doesn’t notice it’s you when he glances up; he forgot you’ve changed your look a bit.
The tattoo on your next is covered with makeup, the angry face too much of an identifying feature. He knows you hate it and were planning on getting it covered anyway. You’ve removed all of your piercings and all of the tiny holes remain empty along your ears. You’ve managed to keep the tiny stud in your nose, though. Your hair is a jet black color now and it shines in the light. How has your hair survived that many dye jobs? Stupid rules for this job; no brightly colored hair or large body modifications, excluding tattoos. Draws too much attention.
He can sense your anxiety next to him; your heart is beating a mile a minute and you’re super tense. He wants to say something, do something to make you feel a bit better, put you at ease, but he can’t think of anything before Sam calls the attention of the room.
“Morning, everyone. NCIS has requested our help with finding a bomb on a Navy ship and figuring out the identity of the woman who told them about said bomb,”
Images flash up behind him projecting pictures of said woman, looking scared with a bloodied bandage on her forehead. She has a fluffy pixie-cut style dark hair and pale skin, or perhaps her skin is pale in comparison to the caked blood matted on her head. Her eyes are a bright green with minimal wrinkles adorning the outer corners. She couldn’t be older than thirty-five.
“A citizen driving by saw her wandering about the street next to a forest and when he approached her she claimed she was buried alive and couldn’t provide any information about herself; not her name, age, where she came from, or who buried her. All she kept repeating was something about a bomb on a Navy ship that was going to kill a lot of people.” Sam continues.
“I’ll be sending some of you out to Rock Creek Park to scope out the scene and some of you to Georgetown University Hospital to talk to Jane Doe. You’re dismissed but await further instruction and be prepared to ship out.” Sam finishes and everyone begins to stand, engaging in small conversations as they exit the room.
You begin to stand and follow suit but a metal hand reaches out in front of you to encourage you to take your seat once more. You throw a confused look over at Bucky, but he’s not looking at you. You glance over to Sharon, who’s staring down at her phone, and to Sam who is flicking through the file in his hands. The four of you, you notice, are the only ones still in their seats, and you quickly make the connection that you’re supposed to wait until the rest of the agents leave after a briefing.
Maybe they’re gonna haze you, newbie. You roll your eyes at that little voice as the door shut and hear it lock audibly.
The three of them glance up and stare at you expectantly. You glance between all three of them before you give up on figuring out what exactly they’re waiting for.
“Are you guys gonna haze me?”
Sharon smirks and Bucky full on chuckles at your question as Sam clarifies, “Do you see anything?”
“Oh! Oh, right, right. Uhm… It kind of doesn't work like - um, I’ll try. I’ll try and concentrate.” You excuse, and close your eyes to force yourself into that mindset.
Most of your visions happen unexpectedly and randomly, otherwise you need to put yourself in a kind of entranced state of concentration in order to, essentially, force a vision. Forcing it is usually what causes you to get the most emotional and frazzled, but nothing you can’t handle.
You feel your face heat up at the shyness your abilities are presenting right now; “Um, can we turn the lights off?” You ask quietly.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y.?” Sam speaks up.
The lights dim and you try to slow your breathing.
She’s covered in leaves and wet from humidity, the stickiness feeling unbearable on her skin. Her skin? Whose skin is that?
“It-It’s a shallow grave, and - and there’s leaves, um -” All you see and feel is pure confusion. You don’t know anything. “Why is it so shallow? They bury people six feet because - because that’s the depth where animals can’t smell dead, rotting flesh - except - except polar bears because they -” Your rambling is cut short at the sound of Bucky’s soft voice and his warm hand engulfing your shaking, clammy one.
“Sweetheart, try and focus on the Navy ship she was talking about, the bomb on the Navy ship.” He tries to get you back on track.
“Right, right, sorry,” You take a deep, shaky breath in and let out with force to calm yourself a bit.
It’s all quick white flashes, so fast and so bright that can’t see the images in between. All you get are feelings of fear and guilt -
“Do you know if she set the bomb?” A deep voice interrupts.
“Sam,” A feminine one scolds.
“What? There’s only one person that seems to know about this bomb and we’re not going to consider her a suspect?”
“She doesn’t even know who she is,”
“But -”
“She didn’t set the bomb!” You exclaim, everything becoming incredibly overwhelming all at once.
“How do you know?” Bucky asks, his calm demeanor influencing your own as you rub your face to somewhat pull yourself together.
“I - I - I just do! I don’t know! I - I keep seeing bomben hersteller, what - what is that?” You ask.
“That’s bomb fabricator in German.” Bucky translates.
“Okay, let’s stop for a second.” Sharon says, “This is a lot of new information, we should wait and see what evidence and samples come back from the crime scene and see what we can get out of her when the agents interview her at the hospital, maybe her condition’s changed and she remembers something, yeah?” You quickly realize that Sharon is the piece of mind between the dynamic of her and Sam while he strategizes the plans. They work extremely well together.
“Okay, okay. Agent, you did very well. Good job.” Sam praises before leaving to exit the conference room, you assume to go give the agents their orders. Sharon sends you a sweet smile before following Sam out.
You look back at Bucky and he’s already looking at you, smile on his face. “You did really good.” He tells you.
“Thanks.” You respond, feeling a lot calmer.
The two of you are sitting awfully close to each other, you notice, bodies turned to face each other in the rolling chairs you sit in. Bucky’s leaning closer towards you than you are him, his forearm pushing on the armrest and you find yourself pulling your eyes away from his and they travel around his face.
Bucky has beautifully long eyelashes and tiny sunspots and freckles that decorate his skin; skin that’s had over a hundred years of wear. He’s kept his hair short but has been growing out his beard, not to an uncomfortable burly length, but enough to leave quite the dark shadow. His tongue pokes out to wet his lips and your eyes flash down there.
You don’t even remember the last time you kissed someone, let alone someone you actually wanted to kiss, not a kiss that was forced upon you. Is he actually about to fucking kiss me right now?
Panic quickly rises through your body and you clear your throat and look away, “Uh, now what?”
“Huh?”
“Well, I can’t go out on missions or anything, so do I, uh, just wait to be summoned, I guess?” Summoned? Why are you so awkward?
“Pretty much, yeah. I’ll, uh, be sticking around, too. Sometimes for ongoing missions I stick around in one of the spare rooms until the case is over.” He softly tells you, unmoving from how close he’s sitting next to you and voice still low and smooth, not looking away from you. Can he tell how nervous and awkwardly attracted to him you feel right now?
“What about Alpine?” You whisper back.
“What?” His eyes are the ones drifting down to your lips, now. Soft looking lips that look like they could kiss him silly and unconscious.
“Alpine?”
“Oh, uh, she stays with my, uh, my neighbor. This little old lady next door to me.” Great, now I’m thinking about my old lady neighbor. You’re biting that lip now and he thinks he might start drooling when you stand suddenly.
“I, uh, just remembered. I have to… clean! I have to clean up, so. I’ll see you.” You push out before finally exiting the room and making your way down the hallway.
You release a frustrated, “Fuck…” as the elevator doors close in front of you.
Meanwhile, Bucky lets out his own groan of frustration in the conference room, hands pushed against his eyes rubbing harshly, “Fuck…”

What random Ziva headcanons fo you have? Like just little quirks or traits
Oh man, Anon, this is a loaded question!
I have so many, but now that I have to actually put them down, I can’t think of them, lol.
OK, I’m fascinated by Ziva’s backstory, so here are some of those:
- This maybe isn’t so much head canon as just extrapolating actual canon, but to me it’s obvious Ziva was very close with Ari, to the point that she was completely blindsided by his betrayal the way she was not at all by her father’s. I can’t remember if I posted this already, or if I wrote it in a fic, but because of the rather significant age difference between her and her brother, in my head, she saw Ari as kind of her protector. She worshipped him the way girls do their big brothers. When her parents would fight, Ari would be the one who would show up and take her for a drive, just so that she could get out of the house. Sometimes they’d talk, sometimes they wouldn’t say a word. She felt like Ari was the only one who really understood her.
- (I have a lot of Ari/Ziva feelings. Don’t get me wrong, he was a fucking sociopath, but the thing is, that while that may be true, that wasn’t the person Ziva experienced. So she knows, logically, that he was a bad person, but that doesn’t negate how she felt with her brother. It’s like the Ari she grew up with and the Ari she discovered in the Kill Ari arc are two different people in her mind.)
- Because the show never talked about Ziva’s mother, I actually had a head canon for awhile that Ziva’s mother either committed suicide, or essentially died of a broken heart after Sister!Tali died. (E.g. actually let her health slide, or had some sort of illness and refused treatment.) I know the real reason they never talked about Ziva’s mother is because the writers didn’t think of her until Season 10, but it’s also curious that Ziva would repeatedly reference her siblings, who both died in horrific circumstances, even her brother who of anyone you’d think she’d want to push away, and her grandparents and aunts and uncles, but she never spoke of her mother. (I think “Safe Harbour” is the first time she reveals her mother died? And there’s the one episode where she tells Gibbs her mother never told her the truth about Eli.) It’s like she blocked her mom out of her memory. But then Tony says in PPF that Ziva’s mom was killed in Amman, so there goes that idea.
- So, my new head canon, sort of, is that Ziva’s mother was, like, a journalist or something, I don’t know -- something that would have had her leaving Ziva and Tali more as they hit their teenage years, leaving Ziva to feel even more alone and like she was on her own, which is how Eli’s attention and approval came to mean even more to her, despite the fact that he was away so much as well. Like, you all know I hate Eli and think he was a garbage person (if he were real, of course), but the flashbacks in Season 10/11 show that Ziva was close with him as a young girl, at least until he left the family when she was 12? 13?, even though she’s also said he was never present when he was home, and she was always seeking that spotlight, literally and figuratively speaking. (Whoo boy, that was a sentence.) Anyway, I can see teenage Ziva, who’s probably mad at both of her parents just under the surface (at Eli for leaving, and at her mother for letting him leave), who is going through normal teenage things, and then as she gets older, her mother is away more and more, and it’s already a contentious relationship, and then Eli redirects his attention to her now that she’s almost grown up and is more useful to him... It’s no wonder she falls under his thumb, even considering their own issues.
- ANYWAY I forgot where I was going with this. But, yeah, Ziva’s mom having some sort of job that would make her travel, would explain how she ended up somewhere outside of the country, by herself, where she was killed.
- So I’m now pretending Ziva was like 16 when her mom died. (I used to think she was in her early 20s, not long before she joined NCIS.) And she took it upon herself to be the “strong one” for Tali. Her whole family praised her for keeping it together and setting a good example for her sister. On the inside, she was broken, but didn’t even know it.
- HA SORRY DIDN’T MEAN TO MAKE YOU ALL CRY.
- I think I said this in a fic, but I also have a head canon that Ziva’s mom loved American/English culture, which is why Ziva did have some exposure to American movies and loved English Lit, and why she said she wanted to travel to America in her “I Will” list as a kid. (This was also a point of contention between her parents.)
- Despite the harsh circumstances, Ziva actually loved her early time in the military, because for the first time in what felt like ages, she felt like she had a group of peers who could kind of understand what she was going through, and she could relax and be herself a little bit, without the family pressure weighing on her. (Of course, that was until she joined the family business, as it were.)
- I really didn’t mean for this to be heavy lmao. I was starting off like “Ziva still loves to dance!” and now I’m like “let’s explore her psyche lmao”
- I’m gonna end this here because this got too long lol
Keep ‘em coming! LOL I can probably think of more if I am given, like, a specific prompt of something. Like “Ziva + ?”

Notes on Season 15- Part 1 (contains spoilers, are mostly complaints about Torres (and Quinn in Pandora’s Box (Part 1)), and are my personal opinions, don’t @ me)
Since Season 15 started rerunning in Australia on 19 November, I’ve decided to write down things I forgot or would like to emphasise upon:
House Divided
I’m so glad Quinn’s gone, good riddance
Reeves saying NCIS wasn’t allowed to look for Gibbs and McGee, then the dispatch guy looking around at their efforts to do just that was great
Why does Torres have to be so disrespectful, even in court- poor Vance having to witness it
Were Bishop and Jimmy being serious about the phone booth?
Poor Reeves- never lend anything to Torres
I love it when Vance gets angry on the team’s behalf, it’s awesome
Don’t be such a dick, Torres
Jezebel Poppins sort of looks like Britney Spears- sidenote, I wonder how the show comes up with character names
Gibbs’ carving was amazing
Bishop and Reeves look so good together, ugh
St. Nicholas is the patron saint of children- in relation to Torres, that explains a lot
Fuck off with your insulting Reeves, Torres- like you haven’t made a mistake before (and much bigger than letting not-so-relevant information slip)
The committee backing Vance up was awesome
‘hobbies?’ ‘not dying’ amazing
The end scenes were so sweet
Every time Delilah said ‘husband’ and McGee said ‘wife’, I went ‘aww’ inside
McGee had such great lines this episode
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Twofer
Dr. Grace! I love her so much, and her reaction to Gibbs catching her off-guard was awesome
When does Torres not have doubts about Bishop and her competency for just about anything
I almost forgot about Ducky’s ringtone
Ugh, I hate Torres’ macho persona
I don’t get the whole falling-in-love-with-someone-your-S.O.-was-close-to (or falling in love with anyone after your S.O. died, for that matter)
When did Abby make the switch from coffin to casket (or is it a backup or something)? I forgot if it’s been mentioned previously
I was really worried watching the Jimmy-and-the-liver bit for the first time
For some reason, Gibbs and McGee’s basement conversation reminded me of McGee and Tony’s in 3x10
Aww, Ducky getting invited to be honoured as an alumnus was so sweet
McGee’s shrink appointment with Dr. Grace was a really great scene
Dr. Grace and Gibbs have a such great friendship, and this episode was no exception
Exit Strategy
McGee talking about all the old cases, so nostalgic
I love McGee and Jimmy’s friendship
SPORTELLI! I kind of missed him, not going to lie (I wish his story didn’t end the way it did)
Torres is such an asshole to and about everyone, ugh
Torres’ flower drawing looked more like a hubcap
Aww, Ducky teaching the lecture was so cute
Jimmy standing up for himself, go Autopsy Gremlin
Ducky’s fanclub is way too over-eager
Seriously, Torres? You’re a federal agent, and you think saying you’d steal bearer bonds out loud is a good idea?
Ducky and Jimmy have such a sweet relationship
The plot of this episode sucked, I don’t get why they had to make Sportelli dirty
Skeleton Crew
Why is Toccata and Fugue the music piece of choice for every spooky TV show scene ever (it’s great, though, don’t get me wrong)
SLOANE! Her entrance is one of the most iconic (and obvious, I caught the ID flash the first time I watched it) ever, plus she looked just so beautiful
McGee talking about Delilah was so cute
Torres is so pigheaded and obnoxious
Abby’s zombie apocalypse kits were such a sweet idea
Abby and Jimmy have such a cute friendship (and the Hamilton bit was hilarious)
Sloane and Vance are such a great brotp from the very first scene
SHUT. UP. TORRES.
I hate it whenever Torres says something along the lines of ‘I’m not trying to be ________, but...’- he uses it as an excuse for his shitty behaviour, and it’s never addressed
‘I don’t believe in absolutes’ well, we know that Sloane’s not a Sith, then (I know the Sith deal in absolutes, but to deal in something, you most likely have to believe in it first)
$300, 000 really isn’t a lot, especially split between two people
The last two Bishop-and-Buckner scenes were sweet, but didn’t make up for his previous behaviour towards her
Akin to 17x06, this episode glossed over the bullying Bishop endured, and how it’s a serious issue
Fake It ‘Til You Make It
The first time I saw this, I instantly knew it was Tony’s doing- how could anyone not
Reeves is so caring and kind, it sucks how Melissa played him
Abby and Reeves (Rabby? Clabby?) were such a great brotp while it lasted
FUCK. OFF. TORRES.
Why is Torres such an asshole? He’s rude and insensitive to everyone, even recovering addicts- how have the writers not been called out for their writing of him yet
I love Sloane so much-she’s awesome
Those tap-lights are horribly hipster and ugly
The end scene in the bullpen was hilarious, and the end scene with Reeves was so emotional and heartbreaking
Rishop’s friendship (not their more-than-friendship, they’re two separate things) was so prevalent in this episode, and it was great to see
This episode had such a powerful message, and was a great instance in the Rule 10 debate
Trapped
Aww, Jimmy’s so sweet
Torres is so ungrateful and stingy
Torres using work time for personal stuff, not surprising
Reeves’ chess pun was absolutely the best
For some reason, I really love it when Reeves does that thing where he puts his hands behind his back and slightly leans forward
‘The Timinator’ I’m dying
Like Reeves said, Torres always has to one-up everyone else and I hate it
That kid was so sassy, omfG
Bishop knows Reeves so well, and it’s too adorable- how could the writers set up Ellick when Rishop already had an outline
That’s what you get for being such an asshole, Torres, and trying to get it back was one of the lowest things a character has done
I love it when NCIS includes charities (real and based-on-real) and the like in episodes
Words can’t even describe how much I hated Torres in this episode- he was at his worst
Pandora’s Box (Part 1)- Season 14, didn’t re-air with the other episodes because Part 2 (NOLA) is re-airing in two days from time of writing
Bishop being a fangirl was completely understandable (and relatable)
Good job insulting Abby, Torres- not
I’m gonna try and start saying ‘Aristotle banana split’ in everyday conversation
Poor Abby- such a sucky situation
Quinn is so annoying
JJ looks to old to have a daughter in preschool
‘Dr. Ducky’ TOO ADORABLE
Ducky and Reeves having banter about British things was the best thing ever
Bishop and Reeves are so cute together (also the ‘smart girl’ comment was definitely about her)
Bishop was on the shortlist after all, I’m so proud of her (even though the mission went south)
The NYB memorial wall, so sad
LaSalle (rip)! I just love his Alabama accent
Torres is just such a douche
McAbby is such a great brotp
Why does Torres have to be so dramatic and show-offy
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Burden Of Proof
Yuck, I hate Torres, and even more when he talks about himself
Sloane’s choker top, YES
I hate it when Torres messes with Bishop’s mind and feelings- that’s not how you show you care about someone
Oof, Fornell- it sucks his job was brought into this mess, and that he lost it as a result
I really don’t want to know why ‘feet’ was the first thing that came to Torres’ mind
There’s something to just love about when Vance breaks up Fornell and Gibbs’ arguments
‘Name That Profile’ actually sounds like a pretty fun game
I hate Torres’ innate cockiness- he risks the suspect getting away just so he can put on a show beforehand
Ouch, poor Fornell- it was the wrong decision, and I don’t know if I would’ve done it, but I did get why he did it- the evidence that Hicks killed the Lieutenant was compelling
Poor Gibbs, you can just see the inner turmoil in his head
Aww, Sloane
Fornell, aww- I’ll fight anyone who says he’s an inherently bad person
Hicks really is a great liar to be able to fool a shrink
I really liked the Gabriel Hicks arc, this episode was the first of a few great ones
Voices
It’s rich of Torres to back up a woman’s side of things
Never stop being awkward and adorkable, Jimmy (adwarkable?)
‘Jack, knock yourself out’ ‘I will, Gibbs’- funniest exchange ever
Ducky lives for the drama and I love it
Collapsing floor during a birthday party- hell of a way to go
Delilah putting up a firewall to prevent McGee from finding out the baby’s gender was so funny
Mike Franks popping up for all of ten seconds was just so iconic
The twins reveal was pretty cute
The foreshadowing in this episode with Sloane and the losing-a-daughter storyline (whether intentional or not) was really good to watch back
The amount of times the word ‘sex’ was said during this episode made me extremely uncomfortable- how hard is it to say ‘gender’ instead
Ready Or Not
Don’t be such an asshole to Reeves, Torres
The Harrison Ford-themed names were kind of bad, but definitely not as much as they could have been
Abby and Delilah’s friendship has come such a long way, I’m so proud
Aww, Morgan, he was so sweet and didn’t deserve to die
Poor Sloane
McGee making a duplicate comfort kit for Delilah was the most adorable thing ever, and Abby yelling along with her was so funny
Bishop and Reeves always stand and sit so close together, too cute
I remember watching this for the first time and being really shocked when Yorka shot Morgan, especially since it was so early on in the episode
Abby really is a terrible liar
Bishop and Gibbs’ little performance was awesome
I don’t know why they didn’t think about putting Sloane in in the first place
Sloane making snarky comments was awesome
Morgan dying was so sad
Seriously, Torres? Do you want everything to blow up?
Reeves and Torres debating the bomb was hilarious
I loved how Gibbs just straight-up punched the driver in the face
The end scene with the twin-naming was so cute
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
High Tide (originally Ep. 11, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 10)
Torres is so obnoxious and a really bad law enforcer- lives are always more important than the op
Reeves worried about Bishop, so sweet
Torres is such a dick for ignoring Bishop and protocol
Ugh, why is Torres so arrogant and bigheaded- I hate him so much, yuck
How could those girls not know the capital of Maine
Insubordination is Torres’ middle name, and I could’ve watched a whole season’s worth of Vance chewing him out
Bishop’s anger was completely justified, but I wish it wasn’t because of feelings for him
I FUCKING HATE TORRES SO MUCH I WANT TO KILL HIM
Torres absolutely cannot be trusted, Sloane- you know it and so does everyone else
Yuuuck, I hated that part so much, and it didn’t even make sense- Bishop was super-angry at him just before, why would she do a complete 180
What other sort of cop is there, you idiot
Go, Bishop! So badass
Ya think, McGee?
Torres is such an idiot- don’t admit anything to someone who can’t be 100% trusted, and that plot twist was pretty predictable
More like a soft zero
Seriously? What if he died, you dickhead- also the fact that Torres had no backup plan and was only okay because the team saved him shows how self-obsessed and incompetent he is
The fact that the team doubted Torres shows how little he can be trusted, and how little they trust him
There was absolutely no chemistry between Bishop and Torres in this episode (or ever), and words can’t express how much I loathe and despise him and everything about him, which sucks because he could’ve been really well-written
Dark Secrets (originally Ep. 12, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 11)
I think all babies are pretty ugly, but Johnny and Morgan are cute
It’s just an ID photo, Torres- stop complaining
‘is there a spouse’ Autopsy Gremlin for the gender-inclusive win!
Carol mention! She’s awesome
Bud again! I’m using a lot of exclamation marks, but they’re things to exclaim about
Poor guy- she was a total asshole, lying to and cheating on him
Bishop and Sloane have such a pure relationship
Seriously, Torres? Not everyone dates in high school, and shaming someone about it is pathetic and juvenile (and it doesn’t help if they’re dead, either)
Recording your infidelity exploits isn’t a good idea (infidelity isn’t, full-stop)
I hate how obnoxious and over-confident Torres is
Just another instance of Torres manipulating someone into doing something for him
This was easily one of the most gross and uncomfortable plots I’ve seen, but a good way of showing that it’s not only guys that cheat and lie- girls do as well
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like that is undeniably incredibly intimate
he initiates the hug, and that’s a totally different hug from Abby and McGee
Tumblr media
anyways
8x24
gibbs is gonna murder secnav when he finds out
if he wasn’t, I am
Tony’s really wound tight
ej’s patronizing is gonna drive me up the wall

Apologies for the negativity here... It’s just that I’m wondering what keeps people believing in Caryl? I remember Melissa saying that for Carol in S9 EVERYTHING has changed and TWD show her happy to be married. Okay so I doubt fireworks are there but she actually wants to be married to that guy. Nothing points to Caryl at all. Yeah Caryl really love each other like very best friends and Daryl does seem in love with her but will NEVER do anything about it. I believe that’s them in a nutshell. 😕
No worries anon, I understand the negativity. Everyone’s their own at this point when it comes to the Caryl fandom. I’ve taken a step back from analyzing every little detail in the scenes they do have together b/c, frankly, there are ppl out there who do it better than I do XD. I’ve actually been focusing on Caryl fanfics recently b/c that’s where I feel the most happy when it comes to Caryl.
Be that as it may, however, I still very much believe in Caryl. Even before the Carzekiel thing happened, I’ve always said that no matter what, as long as they’re both alive then there’s always a chance, and I still genuinely believe that. I was really disappointed when I first heard the Carzekiel spoiler, but now that it’s been the first half of the season, the way in which they’ve treated Carzekiel actually has me laughing my butt off. Not only did they already make it happen within the time jump, they made the engagement very non flashy (Carol seemed to agree after she looked at Henry, which makes me think a lot of it has to do with him) and they didn’t even show a wedding that spoilers first suggested. Zeke hasn’t had many scenes to play in general this entire season, so the show is treating the relationship like it’s not a big deal... maybe b/c it isn’t.
Then you have all of these wonderful Caryl scenes where the writers had plenty of opportunities to say that Daryl is like a brother to her (don’t say son!!). Plenty of opportunities to close it but they didn’t. They emphasized that they were each other’s most important person, Carol trusted Daryl the most when it came to her kid at Hilltop. And we got that script from the first Caryl scene that Angela K posted herself and it talked about how Daryl needs to act jealous and have an aura of loss of something that was important to him. Then Angela K as well as others openly say how important Carol and Daryl are to each other and how they’re soulmates, etc. Again, plenty of chances to shut it down and say “they’re just family, that’s it”, but no. They haven’t shut anything down.
Here’s a good example of the type of couple I think Carzekiel is. In the Notebook, it was discovered that Allie’s mother Anne had a similar romantic thing going on around the same age as her daughter when she was that young. Anne wound up being forced to break things off from her then boyfriend via her parents and was pushed towards into marrying someone more proper, like Allie’s dad. Anne had reiterated that she really did love Allie’s father, she did. But she wound up giving Allie her blessing in chasing after Noah instead of going back to her fiancee, b/c she didn’t want her daughter to do the same mistake she did. Anne settled, and although it was a good man she settled for and she did love him, it wasn’t the intense/romantic love that every girl dreams about. It’s safe love...
I know some folks would say that that’s because they don’t want the Caryl fans to lose hope and drop the show. But considering how many ppl have dropped the show already, if that were the case, then they’re more stupid than I thought b/c IT’S ALREADY HAPPENING...
Anyways, in regards to Melissa talking about Carol and being married to Ezekiel, that didn’t surprise me one bit. This is the deck of cards that she was given to play. She doesn’t have much leeway or choice in the matter, so you damn well know she’s going to give it her all and play her best with it. And as an actress/artist, she wants people to appreciate what she creates. She wants ppl to respect her work that she does and respect her character’s story, even if others don’t agree to it. And honestly, I can respect that, and I still very much support Melissa... I just won’t support the writer’s decision.
Now I will say that if recent spoilers wind up being true and a certain other someone gets their head on a spike, then that’s just fucked up. The writers will once again give Daryl the same arc as what he’s had since season 5 really, and Carol will get the same arc as way back in season 2. It’s freaking ridiculous and really poor writing and they deserve every negative nancy from the critics that comes their way. But I do have a theory in that if that does occur, then Carol is going to push people away and maybe continue the Michonne arc from the comics. Yes her interaction with Daryl earlier this season was fairly similar to Michonne and Rick in the comics, but they might be giving that scene to Carol in season 10.
In the comics, after All Out War, Michonne lives with Ezekiel at the Kingdom for a while and is genuinely happy. But then she decides to leave and be off on her own b/c she didn’t think she deserved a good life after everything she felt guilty for. She “abandoned her daughters during the outbreak and she could never live a happy life with all that regret”. I know this happens before the Whisperers War but the show has tweaked timeline shit before, especially in Carol’s case. This is only a theory but a certain someone’s death may have Carol running away again. Maybe not immediately but it could be after the Whisperers War. Like what we’ve all theorized, Carol seemed to decide to marry Ezekiel for Henry’s sake. So to have that gone, and in such a brutal manner, I don’t see Carol sitting very well with it. And I honestly see Ezekiel blaming her b/c he’s had the balls to call her a coward before b/c she wouldn’t go out to save Henry.
But at the end of the day, it’s up to AMC to decide whether or not to have Caryl end up together, and honestly, I don’t have much faith in them to do it while the show is still at it’s prime. I can see it happening like NCIS. You know, when Agent Dinozzo and Agent Ziva David had so much chemistry your eyes popped out of your skull, but nothing ever happened between them until Cote (Ziva) decided to leave the show. That’s when we finally see the first official kiss between them, when Tony says goodbye to her. Then it was like “oh what the hell, she’s gone so why not”. Then, same thing with Tony when Michael left, they spinned his departure by showing that he had a kid with Ziva, confirming that things were very much physical with him and Ziva the last time they saw each other.
But anyways, it’s okay to feel negative anon, you have every right to. But I still believe in Caryl and always will. For now I can only indulge via fanfics, but that’s okay. If worse comes to absolute worst, at least we’re able to see two amazing actors share absolutely astounding scenes together that, despite not being together, still make us squeal out loud... or is that just me...
Much love to you anon

Castle Episodes (Season 3)
Here we go, the season 3 post:
3x01 A Deadly Affair: The beginning of the episode is so intense with Castle being a suspect and Beckett being mad at him (and jealous af) for not telling her that he was back in town and everything. Oh the tension. There’s this nice parallel where Alexis’ crush went away and said he’d call after he came back but he never did. Which is kinda the same situation as Beckett and Castle. And Castle is defending the guy and Martha is like “Oh Richard Castle, that is the stupidest reason I’ve ever heard. Have I taught you nothing about relationships?” They reference Breaking Bad “’We could always make meth.’ .. just like that cable show.” I love the episode. The fighting between Castle and Beckett is great. In the end, Castle is back, Alexis talks to her crush again.
3x02 He’s Dead, She’s Dead: Chet proposes to Martha. But Martha doesn’t quite know whether to marry him or not. Later in the episode, Chet dies. There’s also this medium’s daughter who has meaningful dreams sometimes. And she tells Beckett that an Alexander will be extremely important to her, he will save her life one day. Beckett doesn’t know what to make of that as she doesn’t know any Alexander. Later in the episode, we find out that Castle’s middle name is Alexander. And that he changed his middle name to Edgar because of Edgar Allan Poe and his last name to Castle. His given name is actually Richard Alexander Rodgers. The final scene between Martha and Castle is really sweet. “Richard, whatever mistakes I’ve made in my life, I raised a good man.”
3x03 Under the Gun: Alexis wants a scooter and it’s so hilarious how concerned and worried Castle is. He goes to Beckett for advice but she only makes his worries worse (by saying that every girl has a wild phase and the good girls are actually the worst). It’s hilarious how Castle chases a guy and jumps over a taxi and he yells “I’ve always wanted to do that!”, his excited face is priceless. AND THEN THERE’S JASON BEGHE I CAN’T STOP SCREAMING. I had no idea he was on Castle, this is too great omg. “Royce?” “Hey, kid, long time.” He trained Beckett when she left the Academy. His hair is longer than on Chicago PD. And it’s kinda weird to see him in this mentor role with Beckett instead of Lindsay (the Beckett-Royce relationship is more romantic though). The episode aired in 2010, a couple years before Chicago PD started. He’s so smiley though, it’s hilarious. I’m having so much fun right now. Also, it’s hilarious when an old guy manages to escape from Ryan and Esposito. Of course, Castle and Beckett tease them so bad with it, Castle put adult diapers on their desk and old-people-teeth. Back to Jason Beghe - I love how his character is SO different than Voight, yet there’s just his characteristics he can’t shake off (like the head node he does when talking). Mike Royce, Hank Voight. Even their names are similar, both one syllable each, first ending with a k sound. In the end, Beckett has to arrest Royce and that scene is so tough oh boy. Also, Alexis realizes that it was wrong to just sell something in order to get the money for the scooter. There’s this adorable hug and Castle goes “I’m so proud of you.”. Aw. I loved the episode.
3x04 Punked: This is the first time we hear (and meet) about Ashley, Alexis’ first proper boyfriend. Throughout the entire episode, Castle is a bit upset that Alexis didn’t tell him about her boyfriend. The episode is super entertaining - Castle thinks the killer is a time traveler. Esposito is assaulted by some guy and hurts his neck real bad which is used as a joke throughout the entire episode. The scene in which Castle meets Ashley for the first time is hilarious. He surprises them with a gun and Ashley is freaked out while Alexis is like “what the fuck dad”. And Castle is all strict and Ashley is so intimidated, and then when Ashley leaves, he goes “I like him” and Alexis just punshes him lol. Alexis has such a crush on Ashley, it’s adorable. Later, he asks Castle how you know when you’re in love and she goes on and on and says how the songs and poems make sense and more stuff. And later, Castle asks Beckett the same question and she goes “All the songs make sense”. Beckett goes out with a certain Josh. The final scene with Alexis and Castle though, where Alexis wants to go on a date and Castle goes “yeah, of cours,e sure, have fun” and she says “I meant with you, dad. You’ll always be my go-to-guy.” Their relationship is so important to me. He loves her so much.
3x05 Anatomy of a Murder: We get several Grey’s Anatomy references when Castle nicknames someone “McDreamy” and another one “McSteamy”. Castle is jealous when Gina surprises Alexis with super special concert tickets that he had just bought for her as well (just not the super special version). And Gina says “Whenever it comes to Alexis, you build a wall around her. Like you don’t want anyone get close to her.” In a conversation with Martha, Martha says to Castle that you’d know real love if one was willing to get the other out of prison. At the end of the episode, Beckett says “Don’t worry, Castle, I’d get you out [of prison]”. Oh my God, I need to gif that parallel.
3x06 3XK: The 3XK-Storyline starts in this episode. Also, Alexis has a “secret admirer” and I still somewhat wish it hadn’t just been Ashley but somehow connected to the case to get some drama. At some point, Castle is also worried about this secret admirer and who it really is. “He’s charming, in an asexual, non-threatening kind of way.” Alexis gets another letter where she’s supposed to meat her secret admirer in a public park. And Castle kinda freaks and goes “you’re so not meeting that guy” because he’s worried about her safety - after all, the admirer referred to Alexis’ hair as ‘flaxen’ which is blond and could be a connection to the 3XK killer. There’s no connection, though, it’s just Ashley. The motel at the end with the pool looks awfully familiar, though. I’m pretty sure I saw that one on The Mentalist and Criminal Minds before.
3x08 Murder Most Fowl: The abduction of a child really gets to Castle. At some point, he shares the story about Alexis who, when she was four years old, disappeared in a mall. Castle and security had looked everywhere and he had pictured all the worst case scenarios. They found her under some coats taking a nap. Castle mentions that he still dreams about this. 3x10 Last Call: I love the ending, where they all sing “Piano Man” and walk out of the precinct together.
3x11 Nikki Heat: Ryan plans on proposing to Jenny, he pops the question at the end of the episode and of course she says yes. Laura Prepon alias Nathalie Rhodes alias Nikki Heat is in this one. Alexis sounds like Molly had a cold while filming this episode. There’s some adorable scenes where Alexis talks about movies that she’s not allowed to see yet (age restriction thing) and she goes “It’s a great movie. ... If I’d seen it, which I haven’t.” Beckett gets more and more annoyed by Nathalie as the episode progresses, it’s hilarious, she’s so jealous. Ryan references “the list” which apparently is a list of celebrities that you could sleep with if you had the chance but were in a relationship. I remember this list was also mentioned on Friends. “If it’s so adorable, why didn’t you sleep with me” ICONIC. Ah, I just really enjoyed this episode.
3x12 Poof, you’re dead: Another familiar face! Vanessa Lengies is in this one. And it’s the first time we’re seeing Lanie and Esposito TOGETHER. I mean, together together. They are trying to hide it, but of course everyone knows what’s going on. Also, Castle and Gina end their relationship at the end of the episode.
3x13 Knockdown: The storyline on Beckett’s mother’s murder continues. Castle and Beckett are at a restaurant talking to someone when that someone gets shot. When Castle goes back home later, Martha is so worried. Castle says “You’re overreacting, mother. Where is this coming from?” and she goes “How the hell can you ask me something like that. Think about how much you love Alexis and that is how much I love you and don’t you dare ask me where this is coming from”. Beckett and Castle KISS. It’s just to distract someone but “that was amazing”, as Castle puts it (the way she took down the guy of course). And Castle goes “Always” when Beckett thanks him for saving her life. If I’m not completely wrong, it’s the first episode without Alexis in it :( It feels like we’re at that point now where Castle’s domestic life isn’t as fundamental to the show as it was in seasons one and two.
3x14 Lucky Stiff: Ryan tells Esposito that they all know about him and Lanie. Martha inherits 1,000,000$ from Chet’s death but she doesn’t feel comfortable with getting all the money since she had planned on breaking up with him before he died. She doesn’t know what to do and talks to Beckett, and ends up opening “The Martha Rodgers School of Acting”. Also, can I just say how ridiculously good Beckett and Castle look in this season (so far)? I mean, sure, they both are good looking people. But Beckett looks so pretty and her hair is gorgeous. And Castle looks exactly like if you merged season1Castle and season7castle. His face is smoother, like it was in the early seasons, but his hair is more like in the later seasons. I can’t describe it properly but I like it.
3x15 The Final Nail: “Mom and Dad are fighting”. The case is really personal to Castle because the victim’s husband is a guy he met in boarding school who published his writing and told him he had talent. The guy that pushed him to become a writer. Alexis’ valentine’s day gift for Ashley is perfect. A photo of Ash’s rat Theodore in a frame that says “true love”. As Castle describes it “heart-felt, yet humorous”. Also, Alicia Coppola is in this episode (I know her as Faith Coleman in NCIS).
3x16 Setup: I love how dramatic and serious the beginning is and you don’t know what’s going on - and then “36 hours earlier”. There’s an adorable scene at the Castle residence where Martha wants to take Alexis on a spiritual retreat but she doesn’t want to, so she mouths something to Castle, so that he’ll tell her not to go. And Castle says “Phys..physi..physics! Physics exam! Don’t you have a Physics exam on Monday?” and afterwards “Best dad ever”. It’s so cute. Later, though, he sends Alexis with Martha because there’s a possible nuclear threat and he wants them safe <3. His face when he tells her to go, though. The episode ends with Becktt and Castle trapped in that ice truck thing. Cliffhanger!
3x17 Countdown: If I’m not totally mistaken, this is the first episode-adjusted-titlecard. WIth the title card all icy and blue. They found Castle and Beckett just in time because Alexis (who returned with Martha earlier than planned because she was so anxious about her exam) called Ryan, asking about Castle because he wasn’t at home. Castle returns home where Martha and Alexis were already waiting for him and he tells them to go to the Hamptons. It’s so intense, he just wants them safe. These two episodes are full of Caskett moments that make you go “how does it take you guys 1.5 more seasons to get your acts together”. I was just missing a Castle/Alexis/Martha reunion at the end.
3x18 One Life to Lose: Beckett is such a shipper and such a fangirl of “Temptation Lane” lol. Also, THERE’S DAVID EIGENBERG. He looks so different than Christopher Herrmann though :’) But good to see him :)
3x19 Law & Murder: Castle knows that Alexis is lying about her plans because of the way her nose crinkles. How adorable is this. Not so adorable, though, is Castle’s behavior to figure out what Alexis is doing: he tracks her phone. Later, Alexis figures out Castle is lying to her because of that nose thing. “You have the best kid in the world” aww. Later, Alexis tells Castle why she was in that neighborhood she wasn’t supposed to be in. Some friends of her where shoplifting and they pressured her to do it as well, but she didn’t and late felt guilty about the stolen stuff, so she went back to pay for it. Castle is like “why are you friends with them anyway” “it’s not that simple” aww bb :(
3x20 Slice of Death: “Every inch of my body is telling me to protect her” <3 Alexis is upset because her best friend is acting weird. It’s so adorable how worried Castle is. God I just love their relationship. “...and then one day, one of you ends up in a pizza oven” lol Castle, good comparison. “Did you kick her ass?” “kinda did” “Good girl” <3 the ending is also super cute when Castle drove all the way across the bridge to get THE pizza for him and Alexis.
3x22 To Love and Die in LA: IT’S HANK VOIGHT AGAIN. I mean.. Mike Royce. I just love how similiar those two names are. And then his real name Jason Beghe.. so different. Noooo he’s dead :( Castle and Beckett travel to LA. Lanie and Esposito kiss on-screen for the first time. AAAAH OMG THAT’S BEN WARRAN GROM GREY’S. “I’m still amazed by the depth of your strength, your heart.” “You’re not so bad yourself, Castle”. And then there’s this silence where they just look at each other and you’re screaming “NOW KISS”. “Come and find me” plays and these idiots still don’t get it right. There’s also the scene where Beckett gets out of the pool and she just looks smoking hot. I swear, if I only looked half as good, I’d take selfies non stop and feel so good about myself omg. THe ending is really emotional. Of course they catch Royce’s killer. On the plane back to New York, Beckett reads a letter from Royce where basically he tells her to just go for it and admit to the feelings she has for Castle. And there’s “Just Breathe” playing which makes it even more beautiful.
3x23 Pretty Dead: Alexis is heartbroken because her boyfriend Ashley wants to study at Stanford. Then, Ashley decides to stay in New York but Alexis feels guilty for standing in his way, so she breaks up with him, so that he’ll make his own choice. He decides to go to Stanford but lets Alexis know (through Castle lol he actually went to the precinct) that he thinks long-distance could work. Bellamy Young is in that episode, hi Beth :) We meet Montgomery’s wife and he also announces he’s gonna retire in a year but Beckett says that he always says that, so it’s all good. In the end, Alexis decides to apply to Stanford for early admission and lol Castle’s reaction is too hilarious, I’M pissing myself. He’s literally just saying “what” four times and his face oh my God I couldn’t describe it properly. It’s... hilarious.
3x24 Knockout: I don’t really know what to say about the episode. It’s such a thrill, such a ride, so emotional. And then you see Montgomery’s wife crying with her two children next to her and you think the episode is over and then boom, Beckett is shot. Gonna get started on season 4 later today and I’ll publish that season 4 post when I’m done with that season, like I did with season 3.

“Reunion” part 2
Part 1 is here
THE CONVERSATION IN THE BASEMENT
UGH MY FEELINGS
Now first up, I hate that they retconned Ziva’s origin story at NCIS to make it so that Eli ordered Ziva to kill Ari to fool Gibbs or whatever. It’s such a disservice to Ziva and her story.
BUT.
I do like how Ziva handled it here, and it makes Eli even more evil, which is fine by me, because he is the worst. He is the guy who had Ari’s mother killed as payback without any regard for how it would affect his son, apparently, so, like, I have no trouble believing he would be fine ordering the hit on his own son, who was, to be fair, homicidal and in need of “neutralizing.”
Anyway.
What I mean is that this displayed so much of Ziva’s humanity, and what shapes the core of her character.
Gibbs is understandably angry, because that whole incident in “Kill Ari Part 2″ is what cemented their bond, which took them all through season 3 to “Hiatus” and beyond, and here he thinks that’s been shaken to its core, that it was all a lie, that the woman he came to think of as a surrogate daughter (and let’s be real, his relationship with Ziva is unlike any of the others’, even with Abby). Which in turn rocks Ziva, because the last thing she wants is for Gibbs to ever think she would be so callous and cruel.
And that’s what it comes down to: Ziva may act like she doesn’t care what people think of her, but she absolutely cares about Gibbs, and if he doesn’t love her, then I would bet she thinks no one can.
Her explanation is so practical and so Ziva, but also shows so much of her heart. Yes, her father ordered her to kill Ari, but she took the mission precisely to save him. Because until the very last second she didn’t believe that her brother -- HER BROTHER -- was capable of such cruelty, and she was going to do everything in her power to prove it, including saving his life so he could plead his case.
Ziva is ride or die with her loved ones, and every brief mention of Ari indicates that he was her world -- or at least she adored him. He wasn’t some long lost illegitimate sibling spoken of in hushed tones. She was as close to him as Tali, and obviously looked up to him, to the point where she believed everything out of his mouth, despite the clear red flags, because HE WAS HER BROTHER. To everyone else he was an asset, to her he was probably her protector and her idol. (See: Gibbs.)
So when she sensed an injustice against Ari? Of course she was going to try to straighten it all out. Surely as long as she kept him safe, they would be able to work together to prove his innocence. Not realizing the odds were stacked against her because a) Eli and b) Ari actually was a psychopath. (Just because Eli was right doesn’t make him right, you know what I mean?)
(Which it turn makes me even sadder for Ziva, because it’s like there wasn’t a single person, or at least a single male, in her life before NCIS who didn’t use her as a pawn.)
Stop for a second and think about what it must have been like growing up actually thinking you were nothing more than a chess piece for your father/country/whatever in their latest mission, and thinking that was totally normal? No wonder Ziva is so fucked up still — how can you build any kind of self-esteem when you are essentially an action figure to be disposed of at someone else’s convenience?
I digress.
So, Ziva agreed to be Ari’s handler not to eliminate him, but to save him. Which is who she is, and she will not apologize for it to Gibbs, because she absolutely believes she was right. “He was my brother, and you were nothing.” WHICH IS RIGHT. It doesn’t mean she was playing Gibbs — it’s that she loved her brother so wholeheartedly, and obviously she would protect him over a perfect stranger. Just like now, she would protect Gibbs at all costs too, and he wouldn’t expect anything different. And if it were Gibbs in the position of protecting his loved one, he would agree with her too.
And the conviction in her voice — the need for him to believe her — is so important. Because she doesn’t care if Mossad or her father believed she was capable of killing Ari, because she probably thinks as little of them as they do her. But she can’t stand the thought of Gibbs believing she could do that, because he would know what it would do to her, does know what it’s done to her every day since that happened.
“Eli is all but dead to me, and now the closest thing I have to a father believes— He was my brother.”  That part ALWAYS gets me. This is what it comes down to: Gibbs has been more of a father to Ziva in 3 years than Eli had been her entire life. He’s never done anything to put her in jeopardy and has always put her well-being first, whereas Eli thought nothing of sending his daughter into a kamikaze mission for some stupid revenge on a faceless terrorist. I mean it doesn’t even come close, right? The show always jokes about Gibbs being the father figure of the group, but this is the first time anyone has said it out loud, and Ziva is admitting that Gibbs is that person in her life, and she cannot lose that. Because he is her port in the storm, in the sense that his protection and nurturing and love has fulfilled a need in Ziva that she’s never been able to fill in her life. She’s basically had no parental guidance, at least not since her mom died (whenever that was), and Gibbs offered that kind of sanctuary that anyone who is lucky enough to have loving parents knows. And she finally had that.
So now it’s hitting her that her “dad” thinks she’s just like Eli, and could easily dispose of her own brother for an inconsequential mission. And that hurts, more than any barb Abby or Leon or even Tony could throw her way. Because that would just confirm her own worst fears about herself, which would crush her. Even when everything is murky with Tony or even Eli, Gibbs has been her rock, and she’s facing the possibility that that may vanish, too, and it nearly breaks her.
Also breaking her? The fact that her brother is gone. As much as the show doesn’t really dwell on a lot of these emotional traumas, Ari has been one of the few that has actually come up consistently over the years for Ziva. Not enough for my liking, but enough that you always know how conflicted Ziva is about it. That she always has to reconcile her cherished memories of her siblings as a child to what happened to them as an adult. And more than that, that she is GRIEVING Ari, still. That pain has never gone away — not in her breakdown in Gibbs’ hospital room in “Hiatus,” not when she’s being questioned by Bashan in “Shalom,” not here. “He was my brother.” And now he is gone. And the pain is still raw.
Cote de Pablo does such a good job in this entire scene. Ziva’s heart is on her sleeve, and she’s trying to hold it together and say what she needs to say, be as practical as possible, but her emotions do get the best of her, because obviously she’s still in a delicate state herself, and this entire experience and its aftermath is stirring up all these unresolved issues and feelings she’s been burying for years. She pleads with Gibbs to believe her and forgive her and just love her the way she is, but she chokes when it comes to “he was my brother,” because deep down she’s still the girl grieving her brother, but she also can’t stand to think her “dad” would think so low of her. It’s painful and beautiful.
ALL THIS BEING SAID.
ZIVA NEEDS A HUG.
THE END OF THIS SCENE DEMANDS A HUG.
NOT A GIBBS INSCRUTABLE GLARE.
I mean I get it — Gibbs still isn’t sure what to believe and it’s a lot to take in — but goddamn Ziva is breaking and the girl has been through hell and back and SHE NEEDS A FUCKING HUG YOU GUYS.
Also back to my anger at the retcon: If Ziva was supposed to kill Ari, then why the insistence in the official report that Gibbs killed him? And why was Ziva so relieved that he kept her secret for so long when she moved to DC? IT’S BECAUSE IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE WRITERS!!! There was actually no need for this retcon, ugh.
Anyway.
Enjoy my feelings!!!
