Hiatus Update Notice

Hello, everyone. Long time, no talk. I know over a month has passed since most of you have even heard from me. There isn’t a particularly valid reason for this other than that sometimes I need space for myself, and I need time for my other hobbies and communities as well.

As most of you may have already surmised before my long period of silence, I was very much drawn to the new Pokemon games and still am, to be honest. Truth told, I have a whole server dedicated to my Pokemon friends and those who just want to game in general with me. Although I still love DL and am still just as, if not more obsessed with Ruki than ever, there was a time when writing as often and as much as I did burnt me out, honestly. I needed this break.

Not to sound like I'm complaining about how "popular" I am or anything, but it came to a point when many people were showing off their creations, whether it was art or new writing to me, and simply wanting to chat OOC in addition to the long RP threads and asks that I was also doing. Eventually, I felt as though I was just answering and replying people just to answer them. I didn't want to show my support for my friends' hard work by simply being like "that's neat" then move on, if that makes sense. Outside of Tumblr, I still had a life to attend to which also kept me busy.

I do appreciate that everyone was always eager to interact with me and send their wonderful OCs off to Ruki for their daily fill of shenanigans, angst, spice, or what have you. Yet at the same time, there were moments when I felt somewhat pressured to answer a lot of things in a short time frame, or was written off as remiss for my lack of participation with certain events. For that, I deeply regret not being there, but I also think I was there as much as any one person could be given that I was always writing with 20-30 other people at the same time.

Don't get me wrong—I really do miss roleplaying with everyone, and chatting with you all as well. It's just that I've fallen very behind on who I need to reply to, both DMs and thread-wise. It began to feel mentally taxing, but I hope to finally catch up when I'm in a better place. And I will always sincerely appreciate how many people on this website admire me for my canon portrayal of Ruki. I've always tried to keep it 100% fair on my blog and interact with people the same amount, regardless of how many asks or threads they try to start. Some of you would try to keep it to one thread at a time, whereas others had quite a few going with me, and both are fine. I just need to make it clear that, given the high volume of people interacting with my blogs, I won't always have a lightning-fast reply speed.

As for where I've been, my Pokemon community and discord server is honestly such a great place. Everyone there is super chill, and we hop onto voice call every other day to be sweaty gamers, lmao. I've connected with people I really respect these days, and while Ruki provides his support and care during his rare moments of sweetness amidst the sadism, I've been looking to my close friends for care, too.

Anyway, it was never my intention to worry anyone here with my prolonged absence. I hope to always stick around here on Tumblr, whether my activity is one post per day or thirty when I'm feeling energetic. It really all depends. Take care and stay well.

BIOGRAPHY

Began dance at the age of two and had been doing it professionally ever since.

Mai was born and raised in Japan but found she never quite belonged in her world, which is why she took up the mantle of being a professional dancer at a young age and then a pop idol. The Borderlands were her first real home.

Her family heavily pushed her to continue with dance and gymnastics, hoping Mai could one day become world famous. While she appreciated the support, her training and career were both isolating. This was her primary career focus until she discovered her love for singing. She had just started out on her journey to become a pop idol when she ended up in the Borderlands.

She longed to be part of a team where you could play together than against. Dancing and gymnastics were a solo route, and Mai had always preferred sports but never had time to actually commit to clubs other than dance. Maybe in another life she would’ve been Queen of Spades.

Not fast enough, not perfect enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, not strong enough, not flexible enough, not enough not enough. Perfection was drilled into her brain, which is why Mai now has a tendency to be rather lazy when it comes to doing things and appears the opposite of her prim and proper dance look out of rebellion in the Borderlands (coloring her hair and the embracing of neon colors were the first taste of freedom and a high she's chased ever since).

A firm believer in fate, Mai believes she wished to end up in the Borderlands over fear of failure. It's been her biggest, silliest, most superstitious regret. Be careful what you wish for.

Mai's first game was ironically a Clubs game where she witnessed the power of everyone working together. Complete strangers from different worlds and backgrounds joining forces and working as one. It moved her, and she found her specialty.

Her turning point, however, and determination to become a citizen later down the road and keep playing the games was from her canon event: the loss of her best friend. Be who you want to be, had been her friend's last words. The acceptance of who she was and wanted to be was exactly what the Borderlands had showed her. Her best friend would probably disagree with her bestie's choice.

Risa, now Queen of Spades, was the first person she met in the Borderlands and someone she greatly admires. Mai's game's outfit was greatly influenced by both her dance background and the woman that inspired her to live after saving her life while dealing with the loss of her friend. They often train together to keep one another in shape, and Mai can often be found at the Queen of Spades' game location running, jumping and leaping around the rig.

In her game of Dodgeball you have to team up and you and your teammate both have to live in order to win. The beams players are required to stand their ground on are the same exact as that of your average sidewalk. It's not against the rules to jump from beam to beam, but you lose if you fall.

Hey guys! I've been thinking lately and talking with some of the people running the other ask blogs that are currently active, and I realized just how much I appreciate all of you. This community has been one of the most friendly and welcoming I've ever interacted with; everyone has been kind and respectful, absolute sweethearts through and through. I've gotten massive support when I dealt with something unpleasant on the blog and I've received kindness, encouragement and affirmation whenever I post something. I've been and am involved in some incredible roleplays and I've made lots of great friends here thanks to my blogs. @cloudhymn i can't explain it but nine has such an elegant way with writing that captivates you and draws you in. i remember when we first wrote and i quickly became engrossed in our threads and just anyone is lucky to write with nine. there's also such a clear distinction between their muses and i dunno how nine manages it but they always maintain exceptional three-dimensionality with every blorbo they pick up.

Time For Some Positivity || Accepting !

Am I biased? I can't deny that perhaps I am, but whoever has interacted with Rin knows what a great writer, RP partner and person she is.

I'm not even sure of where to start from. She's one of my favourite writing partners, she's been since the start because I really admired her portrayals from the moment she followed me. I had actually seen her blog around already, but I was kinda intimidated because the way she writes Rick and Morty was spotless and I kinda had a bit of an inferiority complex. Turns out it was a mutual thing, but I'm really glad that she decided to follow me anyway. Now it's been over a year and I'm still looking forward to her reply as I've been back when we first started.

I've gotten to see all her muses or almost, even the ones she doesn't write on Tumblr and they are all so well written. She puts a lot of care in their characters, canons and OCs alike, and it really shows in her portrayals, answers, HCs, and even just in the small rants she goes on when we're discussing the shows or the ideas we have about characters, fandoms and whatnot.

She's also one of the best RP partners I have because she always shows interest, sends memes, shares plot ideas, comes to me to talk about our threads and so on. It's really HARD to find such a dedicate RP partner nowadays and I treasure her for this reason. More often than not I find myself put in the position of making most (if not all) the effort and that's frustrating. I've never had and I'll never have this problem with Rin (and with a couple of other people...you know who you are <3). I can always count on her to make me feel seen and appreciated as a RPer and I'm immensely grateful for that.

We have a lot of fun. Our muses click so well, whether platonically or sexually or romantically, and...yeah, we're the sort of writing partners who have too many threads and so many ships, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I just love every single interactions I have with her, whether it's just the reply to an ask (IC or OOC), or a two-shots or an actual thread.

I could probably write go on and a novel about her and her blogs, but I think I've already written enough. So...I'll just end this by saying that yeah, every fucking post I see from them, on any of their blogs, cheers me up. Just as it does talking to her, no matter the subject of the conversation!

So, honestly? If you want the definition of a good and caring mutual, Rin is the one to follow. As long as you're ready to make an effort on your side too, 'cause if not? Well, piss off because she deserves better than lazy folks who never move a finger to engage their mutuals.

There's quite a few things I could nitpick about the series, one being the fact that they combine episodes in a manner that doesn't make sense. But that aside, as a roleplayer and someone who considers herself a relatively decent writer, nothing IRKS me more than seeing a character butchered. Now, granted I'm ASSUMING this series is merely BASED off the animated version with no real intent to mimic the cartoon. That's all well and good but some tweaks to characters completely changes them as a person and ho boy am I not happy about it.

I could nitpick Azula who... man... let's not get into it. I've seen so many heated arguments from people pointing out that it's 'nice to see them shine light on her' --- yeah no. We're talking the very same Azula who was smirking during her brother's Agni Kai. You can love a character and still recognize them for the little shits they are but I digress.

No. For me, the most AGREGIOUS slap in the face comes in the form of Prince Zuko. The thing that makes it so glaringly annoying for me is how he's always reminded me of another love of mine: Mr. Seto Kaiba. The rough around the edges part of their personality is so ingrained into me that when it's not there, it's off-putting and jarring. I GET that they're trying to show us that Zuko is also 'just a young, lost boy who's desperate for daddy's approval' but to see him PLEADING with his crew as if the Zuko we know wouldn't have thrown all of them over the boat including the admiral is just unheard of. And THEN, I realize Zuko has always loved his uncle, but that's part of the reveal WAY down the line in the series. They're muddling up things that were detrimental to his character arc from the original series. It's a bit confusing as to where they're going with this. He's SUPPOSED to be an angry guy driven by desperation, pride and a need to 'win'. His bending comes from HATRED so if not there then what's the point of his 'metamorphosis' later if there's nothing to change???? I'm just....

I do not RP Zuko. Never have but I understand his character enough to write him if I wanted to. And that's probably why I'm so SIDE EYE at Ne/tflix right now. Because while they made everything look so pretty at times, pretty doesn't change the fact that there are facets of characters being butchered. If I could see where this was going, maybe. But even then, this kind of makes his redemption arc fall flat later if he's already being a good boy? I JUST DONT LIKE THIS.

AND DON'T AT ME. I'm not asking for opinions or people's analysis. This is just what I SEE. You're welcome to disagree on your own blog. But for me, I'm SALTY AF. But I had to see for myself to form my own opinion. The show is watchable, but you'll enjoy it a lot more if you can detach yourself from the original.

This will come as no surprise to anyone that follows my blog, but the very obvious answer to this question is @starsasunder . I met them...oh man six, seven years ago? They had a Yuugi blog, and I was just a little bitty personal who was too shy to even promote my own AO3. Through reading their writing, I grew inspired to try my hand at Tumblr RP, and made an Atem / Yami blog. ( Yes, I picked this muse because I wanted the highest chance of being able to write with them ).

And then, to my surprise, they followed me back! I was still too shy to reach out though, and vague posted about admiring people but being too nervous to reach out ( I know, I know. I don't vague post anymore ). Well, apparently my vague post wasn't vague enough, because they sent me a message asking if it was about them and my heart just about exploded out of my chest. It was awkward at first, but now here we are, over half a decade later, talking every day and learning what it means to have a platonic soul mate.

They've taught me so much, and to this day I still continue to learn from them. When they adopt a muse, they put so much love and care into it that you will never find another muse like theirs, even if they are the same canon character. The amount of time and effort behind every character is felt in every aspect of them, from the headcanons to the way that they're written.

Morri is an amazing writer, and I don't think I'll ever stop looking up to them.

I quite don't remember well why I bumped into your blog)? Idk if it was because Yuriko appeared like a DL character in my dashboard, or because I've seen you interacting with another character, but probably it was because one of those. After all I know Yuriko from a time and I haven't been that much on Tumblr. Perhaps I was searching people to get involved a little in the fandom. But that was at first (at this point I think that everything catches my attention that way, it's part of the scrolling)? No offense, please).

After meetings, I just get pretty impressed in how well constructed is Yuriko as a character, how deeply you have explored her inner world and the way you have found to express her. Sometimes I feel like Yuriko is a real person, with her complexes, her doubts, her triggers, but also her dreams, her desires and aspirations. I'm not sure how many years and effort you have put on this but ma'am it worthed the while! I'm super impressed in how you have built all her past, and how it fits in the way she sees the world and interacts with others.

But truth be told, the thing I really love from her is her relationship with Ruki. The way they go from desire to love and how their relationship is so flawless and is so dark underneath the surface??? I can't do anything but love it. It's quite the thing I was expecting from a romance with him, and Yuriko is a good angel to make the beast finds peace with her lullaby. It's cute, interesting, alluring and at her same time... HOT.

It makes sense that you ran into my blog in that manner. That's how I usually find new blogs to follow, too. I think it's a rather normal way to get to know someone in the fandom.

I thank you for your kind words. 💙 It's very interesting that you see Yuriko this way and very nice too. I made the blog for Yuriko about two years ago, but she had lived in my head longer. She hadn't really found her place before I realized how she would fit into the DL universe. But many of her traits have grown through her interactions with other characters. I mostly get to know my characters by writing them. So, I thank everyone who has been willing to RP with me.

When it comes to Yuriko's story with Ruki, I'm very glad that you have seen all the different aspects of it. Even though the darkest parts haven't probably been that visible. As a romance author, I quite enjoy bringing this particular romance to life with its cute moments but also dark depths and the heat between the couple.

I guess this is a good chance to say that Cassie is a very well-built character too. She is complex with her struggles and different personality traits. Other than that, her looks are amazing, and you have brought her alive visually too. I truly admire that. 💙

Also, you are right. It is beautiful to create something and keep sharing that with passion and love. While I want to keep at that myself, I do hope that everyone else does the same. Be proud of your creations and let the world see them. And spread the love around you whenever you can.

This might be the expected or stereotypical answer, but the fact that she tries very hard to see the good in everyone. Even if it takes awhile. By the end of SDR2 she admits she might have been too hard on Kazuichi and will try to be nicer to him.

Honestly, I think she might be a little lenient (but she's dealing with having murdered a lot of people, so she might not see it as a problem in the grand scheme of things), but I admire her for really trying to see good in everyone and befriend everyone. Even when she might not agree with them.

Really, the roleplayers I look up to usually fit one or both of the following categories. I'll note that there's no 'correct' way to RP, but these are qualities I happen to be in awe of/impressed by.

Roleplayers who can maintain multiple blogs or a multimuse who always have muse for all of their muses. If you send them an ask, they can and will respond to it, as opposed to 'nah, only this muse has the braincell today.'

Roleplayers who constantly turn out multiple long replies each day, every day. Between my job, offline hobbies and obligations, and medication that makes me fatigued for at least half the week each week, I am so in awe of roleplayers who can just juggle constant long multi-para/novella replies with a bunch of muns and are just posting so much IC content. I'm lucky if I get through one reply a day nowadays without being exhausted or distracted by something else. I see you on my mutuals list. I want to be like you. How do I become like you?

Hmmm.

I was thinking about remaking, but that won’t lead me anywhere. What I might do is clean up my blog a little bit/check who still wants to do something? I want to write here but I honestly don’t know who wants to continue what/if people want to continue threads or talking altogether. 

But one of the big changes that I will make here is that I will make this blog primarily OC focused. As in, I will remove all my canon muses and shove them in my bonus page that you can ask me if we are really good friends. It’s nothing against RPing canon muses, I just spend way more time (and money!) on my OCs and I’d like them to have more of the spotlight. Which means I’ll be revamping my muse page and finally sitting down to write the OCs that I want to bring forward at least a small bio page. 

I admire people who do graphics and very elaborate stuff a lot, but I am Very Disabled (tm) and busy (I’m married, ADHD, executive dysfunction, like thirty other things going on, taking care of my husband and our silly apartment, not things u need to know but I feel like sometimes I need to explain why everything about me is so sporadic and activity is so spread out) and I either have energy to make things fancy or to write. Sometimes I don’t even have the energy to write. So I might go back to simple gdocs pages for all of them, to make it easier on myself. I already gave up on smalltext because even that made me agonize about writing. 

I know I dropped the ball on a lot of people re: plotting (and I am so so so so sorry for that), but I really prefer plotting + talking about our characters instead of doing 90 small threads like... people usually do. It’s legit easier on my brain when I know what I need to focus on instead of constantly trying new things. Of course this does not apply to memes I send people, it’s easy to do that and I love doing that. Plus I don’t like using icons most of the time and I feel like doing small/impromptu stuff - that is not my forte - without it makes my blog look very clogged/weird. Again, this is mostly me. I prefer doing longterm things that I know I will get a cool story out of + someone to talk about said story. It was my reason to start writing to begin with, I like creating stories with other people.  

But yeah tl;dr I’m not going to move blogs, but I might clean my follower list up real bad, throw most of my Canon muses in a locker and slap very simple things on my blog from now on. If we have a thread or you want to continue something please let me know. I’ll also be cleaning my inbox and just considering most of my threads (except for the few people that I already rp with and they know my very on-off-mostly-off schedule or if we have already good established relationships in-character) dropped.

hello! my name is lina (she/her), and i play (for now..because knowing me and my self-control..) the eldest child of house zhao, lord zhao xuanyu. when this rp was first introduced to me i was like O-O because as someone who loves themes like this, this was right up my alley. so i...ahem..went to take a look at everyone’s blogs T-T and was just blown away by how amazing each and every thread was (kudos to all of you, they were truly, SUCH amazing reads T-T). so...out of pure impulse and maybe some convincing, i am here to present to you xuanyu, and if you’d like to plot with him, please give this post a like! (feel free to dm me first as well, or ask for my discord!) 

while some of xuanyu’s things i’m still slowly thinking about, under the cut is some info about him!

eldest son of admiral and lady zhao, oldest of three siblings, lord zhao xuanyu. 

32 yrs old, firebender, captain in the military & yuyan archers’ commander

xuanyu is both diplomatic and affable (owing, in part to his looks), but he is also both reticent and ambitious. the fact that both of the latter traits exist makes him difficult to read, because he seems as calm as water, and the fact that he withholds much of his thoughts to himself. what xuanyu says may often not be what he thinks, and most people see him as the warm but diligent eldest, both honest and kind. (what a joke, really)

was raised with closely with the sang family’s children.

prefers spending time somewhere quiet compared to loud places / gatherings

likes plants

he’s also vry spiritual aka he has a habit of meditating and praying (though of course, none of that is genuine..it’s merely a habit of his to be able to obtain the serenity he needs to think.

he also likes music, and went out of his way to learn the dizi (chinese flute)

prefers keeping his hair up in a ponytail, alternates in dressing in blue or black 

he’s known for his handsome looks, and the quiet elegance he tends to exude. almost no one has ever seen him lose his temper (save for his subordinates). sadly these days, it seems that his capabilities have been overshadowed by gossip about his looks

funny thing is, his parents thought that he would be a girl, and that’s why he was named 瑄羽 (xuanyu). his nickname amongst his family and their close friends was even xuan xuan (bring it up and you’ll see his face twitch.) [his name also means jaded feathers/wings which came as a lil surprise to me cuz it is ironic considering house sang’s emblem and things...]

he can be very charming if he wants to, and if he’s interested enough in someone / finds it interesting to poke their buttons, he will teasingly do so. he tends to show that charming & teasing side a little more towards nobility, the more contemplative side of him reserved for his quiet moments: so most people do have an impression of him as outgoing, charming and diplomatically friendly.

he has unfortunately, not have had any prior romances or crushes (he probably didn’t understand much of why he needed to have one and was more worried over the growing loyalties he saw of his house towards the vassals they were pledged to), though there is a possibility that quite a number of pple have had crushes on him. 

xuanyu disagrees beneath the surface with a lot of what house zhao values--or the soldier mentality that has kept their house trapped in foolish loyalty to the declining house sang. (or what he thinks is a declining house sang) and with the recent assassination + exile of some of house sang’s daughters, that sentiment has only grown stronger, which makes him all the more apprehensive of the fire lord’s reign : because who knows what the fire lord would do to them in the future, with house sang no longer ontop of their heads?

xuanyu disagrees as well (rather DEEPLY) with house sang’s pacifistic ideals--to him, things that you want ought to be grasped tightly in your fist, and sometimes regardless of the process of how you obtain what you want, as long as the end/bigger picture is attained, everything you do, no matter how uncomfortable it is--is right.

and so xuanyu secretly seeks emancipation of his house from house sang, something he hides from all members of his family. there’s no telling what he’ll really do to be emancipated from them, truly.

considering that his family presides over being house sang’s personal military, bodyguards as well as being the guards of the city...we can all assume of the possibility of something going really wrong if they’re not held in check. 

for someone who dislikes the idea of his house’s blind faith and loyalty towards house sang, it’s ironic that xuanyu himself demands such faith and loyalty from the yuyan archers that he commands. he’s efficient, ruthless and cold-blooded when needed--which was one of the reasons why many were surprised that even at the age of 30, despite his genius in his younger days for firebending, xuanyu has yet to reach the ability of lightening bending, something of which he does get scathed for.

he has long fallen from being a genius in the eyes of many, due to his inability to lightening bend, even though his many other accolades attest to his capabilities as both a diplomat and a commander. 

in fact, xuanyu’s latent talent is shown by the fact that he has in fact, mastered almost all kinds of weapons that he has come across. he is both an incredible marksman and blademaster, a skilled spear and halberd user, all of which, he had come across and mastered in his youth, with the latter two having been learnt partially out of interest and boredom. he is also adept in terrain + military strategies, and has a pretty good knowledge of utilizing traps and botany, something that he’s still conscientiously studying.

despite being talented, what a lot of people don’t know is that xuanyu spends a lot of time and effort in honing his skills. he is the kind of person that is like 90% talent and 110% hardwork, which is why many (including his dad) are disappointed that he hasn’t reached the threshold of being able to use lightning bending.

xuanyu also holds little attachment to his family, despite having a good familial background and a loving family. while he plays a wonderful older sibling and a duitful son, xuanyu is not tied down by ideas of loyalty towards his family or clan, and with the ability to see beyond the trappings of a house’s benefits and loyalty, it is from there where his conflict stems. despite his ambition, he is a free spirit, although he is currently chained down by his father’s determination to be loyal to the sang family.

xuanyu’s father may be the head of the household, but he has been managing the financial assets and diplomatic relations of house zhao for quite some time ever since he turned 18. however, the final say still remains with his dad, though that isn’t to say that he’s not above doing suspicious stuff without anyone knowing.

he has a burn across his collarbone close enough to his neck from a slight mishap in a firebending spar in his youth, when he was still considered a firebending genius. admittedly, in his younger days he showed off a bit more, and that burn is a reminder when someone older & more advanced than him in firebending decided to put him in his place in a spar. since then he’s learned to keep mum about his talents, just quietly letting them grow without anyone knowing. 

the burn actually ended up festering and turning him feverish, so xuanyu had a lot of time in bed by himself feverishly thinking abt things and replaying that match in his head...so...the unfairness / underhanded tactics in that one battle actually set the stage for him learning to be underhanded and sly in his own battles. strike first before the enemy can make a move, and when you strike--make it hurt.

he has quite a lot of scars on his body that were from his time in the army as well as the battles he went thru.

wanted connections:

CHILDHOOD FRIENDS, ENEMIES, FRENEMIES -- probably nobility, and maybe by extension some royals, considering that they’re of a lesser noble house? young xuanyu still hides a lot of his countenance behind the mask of being dutiful and affable, and he was known as a genius back in his younger days (though that sentiment seems to have long faded into disappointment). he was also a little bit of a showoff, especially when his parents were around, believing that that was what was expected of him--until a particular spar that left a scar on the side of his neck told him that sometimes less is a little more.

EX-BODYGUARD? -- considering that xuanyu is a part of the zhao family, i’m sure he was sent out perhaps a couple of times to gain experience in being bodyguards for some nobles or royalty. he joined the military at a pretty young age considering that his family is of military, so you might hv had a teen xuanyu being responsible for your wellbeing. whether or not that connection remains as good or as bad as its suppose to be is up to you.

BEING THE SUBJECT OF ONE-SIDED CRUSHES -- despite having no experience of romances himself, and oblivious as hell about things related to it, xuanyu’s good looks and the affable disposition that he shows in front of many probably made him one of the most yearned for noble bachelors in the vicinity. unfortunately, none of these one sided crushes have ever come into fruition, and xuanyu might or might not have broken a couple of hearts both intentionally and unintentionally somewhere along the way with his obliviousness.

RIVALS / SUBORDINATES/ SUPERIORS --  despite his affableness, xuanyu will often butt heads with people that he believes aren’t right, or if he disagrees with their ideas, especially when it comes to the yuyan archers or if you are his superior in military. not that he questions your capabilities of course, he just doesn’t like being told what to do, even though he ends up doing it accordingly and well. and he’ll probably make sure you know that he’s not happy with that. 

PARTNERS IN CRIME / MAYBE NOT IN CRIME -- there are a lot of things that xuanyu keeps hidden, not just from everyone, but also family. but it is also what enables him to have unlikely partnerships with a lot of people, though keeping it deeply under the wraps is something that he values heavily. his trust is not easily earned, and whether or not he enjoys your partnership enough to continue it is also another thing entirely.

MORAL COMPLEXITIES -- being the subordinate / working closely in the military with xuanyu also means that in one way or another, you are given more insight into the seemingly dutiful and affable eldest of the zhaos. you’ve seen him at his worst, and at his best, quarreled over the niftiest of things to the greatest moral complexities in war--and perhaps you are slowly realizing that perhaps, zhao xuanyu’s moral values don’t seem to align much with what he seemingly portrays himself to be.

RED STRINGS OF FATE -- xuanyu not having experience in love doesn’t mean that he’s incapable of love. in fact -- he’s just never really thought about it in particular detail. he’s either never formed a close enough attachment to someone for such an attraction to occur, or he’s always had something on his mind that takes priority over fiscal things like finding love. you’ve either caught his attention from the get go or he’s found himself having a slow liking for you. i’m also much of an angst lover, so  👀 i believe i’ve pretty much set him up for misunderstandings and lack of communication or maybe even perhaps him falling in love but not saying / confessing himself because of his nature to keep things close to his heart and barred from anyone else. perhaps this red string of fate will crash and burn or consume both of them in flames, or maybe it will be one of gradual longing but never attaining, snipped short by either one of their own doings. who knows? give me moments where xuanyu compromises his morals and does things he usually won’t do all for them!!! but god does he not know how and what is love and i am so ready for him to just be slammed into it without any preparation before hand. of all the things that xuanyu likes to control, romance is probably something he never thought would slip out of his control...

when I say that some of the BEST rp fun I've ever had in my eight years of roleplaying have been with you, I mean it from the bottom of my heart. our threads had me staying up WAY past my bedtime, giggling madly at 2am as I tried to stay quiet, penning my responses by moonlight like I was some ninth century scholar or else stealing snatches at work to jot down thoughts for replies on my phone. i've just had the best time of my life roleplaying with you, to be completely honest.

I remember being so shy when I followed your alfred. I was just a baby uhtred blog back then and definitely admired you from afar, because your characterization, your prose, your everything was just so good, and here I was, bumbling onto the scene clumsy as could be, and I remember thinking to myself if this blog follows me back it will be an ACTUAL miracle, and I might just have to convert back to the christian god.

(spoiler alert, you did follow me back, but i admit I did not convert back to the christian god. oopsies.)

anyway, I didn't want to seem over-eager or like I was pressuring you for replies, but from the get-go things were just so FUN! and then one day you told me that this was some of the best fun you'd had on alfred in ages, and I swear I could have shot through the roof by how happy that made me DSAHFJKASDF just! knowing that I was also making you happy and that you were having as much fun as I was!

and then, well, I consider us a bit like two peas in a pod now to be honest with you - alfredperdiems and dailydoseofragnars tend to do that to a person, I reckon - but really, you've just been such an amazing influence on me. I think you really taught me how to enjoy myself when I was rp'ing again.

I don't know if I ever told you, but I was going through a really rough point in my life when I started my Uhtred blog and talking to you just made me smile so much and brought me so much joy that I really can't thank you enough for just! being you! because you did that.

I look back on some of the threads we wrote pretty often - not only just to remember what a great time it was, but because I grew an INCREDIBLE amount as a writer in an ASTONISHINGLY short time, which I partially credit to you as well. my quality of writing rose to meet yours, and I look back and admire the threads I created and go back to REFERENCE the shit I wrote with you just to see if I can recreate some of my favorite turns-of-phrase.

it's a great creative outlet! i have always liked storytelling and character / world building and it's just a lot of fun for me with the right people !

aside from the normal things like writing / character compatibility and age, i like people who are low-maintenance and chill. if i go on someone's blog and they just seem very high strung for whatever reason, chances are we are not going to get along very well. i just don't have the mental energy for it lmao. i also like people who are enthusiastic and who engage with the plot / thread. or even if you're not the best plotter, at least...keep the thread moving? give me things to respond to? i lose interest really quickly if i have to be the one moving things along all the time. the balance shifts naturally and that's fine, i just don't always want to have to carry a thread. also, people who are patient and who don't expect me to respond / post / message back rapidly or every day, and who understand that i don't always have the mental energy to keep up with conversations for long periods of time but who ALSO understand that me dropping off for a bit is NOT an indication of my interest in writing with them? i really am the sort of person you can drop off the face of the earth for six months or even a year or more and then just show up one day like HEY LORI DID U STILL WANNA-- and my answer is yes.

hmmm. i'm not sure about tropes specifically, i guess i wish there were more unpretty female characters who receive the love and attention that the "husbandos" do .. or just female characters who receive the love and attention that male characters do in general. anyway, before i go on a rant, i guess i dislike it when characters just drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and then completely refuse to take a break? i do not admire that, i do not like those threads, at that point they have become a liability and it is not the helpful / admirable martyrdom anyone thinks it is.

We've been mutuals for a while, but I remember following your live-action blog first, for the murder family plot! I was so excited to write with you, but also very intimidated back then 😂 but then, we developed the best dynamics and plots and learned to know each other! What's funny is that Rick & Morty was kind of the first thing we started really talking about on discord, because it was something we both enjoyed! Before you even made your cartoon blog!

As for why I'm following you now, well! First of all, I admire your writing and portrayal a lot, it's always a joy to write and plot with you. I love all our dynamics, all our threads, and all the things we have developed together or are currently developing! But you're also a dear friend of mine, and I'm so happy to have met you. I love that our friendship has kind of extended beyond the realm of rp (even if I love writing with you!!!) and that we can talk about everything together.

We've come up with some many plots and dynamics since then, I've lost count. i have actually received TWO of these, but not entirely sure how i wanted to answer it with. XD but uhm... i'll try! this is in no particular order btw...

1)

the current theme for this blog! i dunno how many ppl bother looking at the web themes anymore. but i'm still very proud of this. i dunno why! it's simpler than what i usually do. but it's so pleasing to look at. it's not as tackled down with PSDs as my older graphics used to be, and it made me realize not every RP graphic has to be deepfried to look good. i also like how the colors look on it, too. it came out rly nice, and sometimes i just like to look at it to admire the work. also jin's TK8 design goes well with DJ's TK7 design because they both have the same color palettes (white, red, and black)

this piece of art is nearly 4 years old, but yet it's still one of my most favorite arts i've ever drawn. it's of an older muse of mine, bill dickey from the eltingville club! (a very obscure comic and a pilot from adult swim that never picked up. i wouldn't be surprised if y'all don't know him sdjfndsfjndsf) for some reason, despite being from a very obscure ip - i had quite a few followers and attention on that blog. from time to time, i do miss him!

another old muse,,, haha,,,,, this one's from 3 years ago! which is a revenant design of sub-zero / kuai for MK11. bc i was kinda let down we never got a revenant alt skin for him in that game. i'm really proud of this design i've made for him! in fact, it may be my favorite fan design i've ever made.

uhh, don't feel like searching for the op post of this. but from my other blog @brokentoys - i believe i was pretty upset when i made this, so it really comes from the heart haha. it looks awesome, too. really, i should continue these old web edits.

and i guess last i'll this gif set! just 'cos i'm often not happy with my gifs i make - despite the fact i make many, and have been making many for years. i just always feel the colors look off, or their quality sucks. these actually look really nice, not fuzzy, clear and crisp with vibrant colors. the gif set just looks awesome in general.

as a writer, i probs should've put an exerpt of something from my writing. but honestly... surprisingly, my writing is what i'm most insecure about. and really? i'm not too proud of most of it. i always feel my writing is too clunky, and not paced well - also, sometimes i feel it's a bit disinteresting.
