oh my GOD i deleted my rant by accident im gonna cry lemme try to remember what i wrote but tl;dr not really a theory but me trying to arrange my understanding of albrecht and tmitw
i title this: wallbrecht is everything everywhere all at once
also i wrote this at 5-6am and didnt sleep so shit's probably messy

ok so a major theme in warframe that recurrs in warframe is the loss of identity or sense of self. natah/lotus/margulis, erra becoming pazuul, teshin being controlled by the worm queens, the operator dissociating and believing they're our warframe, then the operator losing themselves to the worm queen and the operator (+rell) confusing ourselves with tmitw himself , the drifter in duviri, warframes themselves losing their sense of self (umbra at some point, and potentially arthur and aoi down the line), albrecht worrying who really left the void dimension, the remaining entrati family themselves!. we're also told many times that the void gives but it also takes, and that it's heavily influenced by strong emotions
in cosmic horror stories usually the horror is a representation of something else. in lovecraft's works it's often his disgust with people of colour, viewing them as something completely alien. in bloodborne part of it is the fears of pregnancy and dealing with offspring. i haven't played darkest dungeon but i've heard that it's about trauma and how the overwhelming traumatic events become too much to bear that people go mad. in the lighthouse, part of the horror is that people will fight and kill just to know the truth, or what they believe to be salvation
so i think albrecht's horror was his fear of losing his identity. we knew from the clock's archives that his experiments hadn't been going well prior to the bell incident. he was losing respect as an archimedian, maybe he lost respect as a father and husband too. i think a lot of us theorise already that albrecht IS the man in the wall, not a doppelganger like tmitw literally was with the operator. but tmitw being omnipresent means that they can freely simultaneously be and not be other people, the paradox of eternalism. albrecht is now the void, he knows every timeline and every outcome and potentially every person (except operator/drifter because they're already void in multiple senses of the word) but he is also still one human. the human mind can't reconcile knowing everything, that's just madness. lucky that kids aren't as self aware as adults!
the void isn't evil nor good. it gives and takes merely because that's the way the universe works, very vaguely dare i say the law of conservation in (a very sci-fi way) action. the void is in the grand scheme of things is just a natural phenomenon of the universe. but the overwhelming emotion present during the 10-0 accident (if that even was an accident) and albrecht's own experiment just happened to be fear, so the void literally embodied the concept of fear and became a person, vecause that's just what the void does. it became an unknowable being behind a veil just beyond our perceptive reality that understands the plights of humanity a little too well. it could have manifested into something friendly and offered us and albrecht a deal in a polite way if the circumstances were right but it wasn't. tmitw is a manifestation of the void so whether the man - albrecht - wanted to or not, he had to approach our operator in their greatest moment of fear. what he did have a choice in, though, was to offer a deal. and what better way to secure a time loop, multiple ones even, that will guarantee your becoming wally than to be a time-space hopping entity who can exploit a bunch of scared kids who didn't know any better.
i don't know what we'll be using the vessel for but i don't think we'll be using it to fight a giant wall (and if we are it won't be the climactic final fight). i don't think we'll ever overcome the void, and we don't need to. the void just is. but the man in the wall literally is just a man. and i know people dunk on bad cosmic horror when the spooky thing is actually just a person or has sympathetic motivations but i think here warframe may be able to pull it off well. it's a cosmic horror that's made life miserable over multiple lifetimes, but the horror simultaneously is just a victim partially of his own doing because the cosmic horror never was alien, it's just a person who's scared of losing himself, just like the lotus was and just like our operator was. the cosmic horror IS the person in the stories who faced the horrors, who faced themselves in the seriglass bell - all it took to differentiate us and albrecht was an *accident* (though at this point it was probably intentional)
we need to confront albrecht/the man in the wall and try to stop his madness. but like many cosmic horror stories go, i think he's trapped no matter what. he'll either overcome his fear of losing himself and become one with the void, leaving us for good, or he'll try to return to gomaitru. but the fact that he's not the same as he was before and neither is gomaitru, with what he's seen and experienced as tmitw will be so maddening that he'll have to leave for the void once again in a suicide mission if he still can't reconcile with *what he is* now. in true cosmic horror fashion we will probably never fully know his motivations till the end, being a greater being than our scope of thinking - and with eternalism in place, maybe albrecht reconciling with himself was what already happened back in the seriglass bell

ok so like, I've had this stuck in my brain for a while so I hope you dont mind me rambling </3
five x reader scenario where they were married before the first jump in 2019 but they were like having marriage problems so they sort of went "ok so here's a paper sign it and there we are officially divorced !!" (and take a divorce selfie !! /j). Somehow, he drags the reader back into the mess and teleport into the 1960's thingy (where the reader ends up stuck idk) and through all the chaos both five and the reader are like "yk what maybe I do like you but im not going to admit it bc of my ego." And in the new 2019 timeline when they realize everything is going to end they both go "fuck it yeah I love you" and just try to re-start their relationship even tho the world is ending
IDK IF THIS IS WORDED WEIRD ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE 😭
also this isn't a request it's just ingrained in my mind to put reader instead of y/n imsososodos sorry
- 🚩
oh don't worry i love receiving asks and read people's hcs and stuffs so feel free! ⊂(´・◡・⊂ )
and i sometimes describe y/n as reader so it's alright!
✉️ whoa this trope.. i found it interesting indeed. like reader and five are married out of pure love but then have some perplexing feelings for each other later bc of work and have no time being on each other's sides on their darkest moments. andddd that leads them to arguements and misunderstandings (i'll let you guys imagine what they're arguing for). their relationship become bitter, still they agreed that they'll escape from the commission.
then some serious stuff happening like reader was back on the commission alone and doing a massacre, didn't tell anyone but five found out they've been there and got mad at them. "you might got this little precious chance of ours slip out of the fingers. (insert reasons).", "i was trying to help--", "but you made it worse." then boom. divorce.
reader, walking around the city or park and waiting for the apocalypse to get them too. but five decided to beg for them to help him just one last time.
season 2!! where all of them separated. reader trying to live normal life but got dragged to the mess again because five needed them (he mistaken it for his mission. he really do want them back). their relationship somehow improved again and finally acted like a married couple. his siblings keep teasing them but they can't actually argue back. they're still married legally and they have no time to sign divorce papers 🤨🤨.
season 3!! where they finally have a time together on sloane and luther's marriage, later confessed their feelings for each other. their relationship is the only wholesome and nicely developed one out of lila & diego and sloane & luther. even klaus can agree.
KSJSKSKSMSKS i do really want to make this a series bc this scenario is 🤌🤌🤌🤌 but i might leave my work unfinished.. i'm a lazy potato :,,))

Put “📓” or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and I’ll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven’t written but daydream about.
Hmm honestly... Journey for the Dawn told through the perspectives of story-important NPCs. Since we already see the travelers' thoughts on the situation, it'd be cool to see how the rest of the world deals with it as most people definitely wouldn't know what's going on? Not to mention it would be a cool worldbuilding opportunity to figure out how long the Darkest Night lasted, how communities deal with it, and how NPCs work with limited information.
The focus of it would definitely be (again) themes of community in times of crisis, along with the impact the travelers make even when they're off-screen. As for which NPCs I'd probably write for, I'll list some preliminary ideas below.
Back from listing them. It turned into a full outline actually. Meaning I probably will write this o(-(
Ochette: Alpione probably....?
Castti: Melia and the Winterbloom NPCs, including Plukk and co. Melia def doesn't have full context on what's going on, but she and Greg would probably try to y'know. Focus on keeping the town safe, along with making sure everyone's well-fed and cared for.
Throné: Mira and the orphans back at Wellgrove... I headcanon that the claudelets tend to be stronger at night, not to mention are able to see incredibly well in the dark, so they're all like... while not great, it's a terrifying world event to witness as a kid, they're physically more equipped to handle the Darkest Night.
Osvald: Elena. She and Clarissa would probably be one of the few NPCs I have interact directly with the travelers, since the gang would go from Crackridge -> Ku -> Toto'haha -> Flamechurch, and I can definitely see the gang making a quick stop to make sure she's ok now that they have confirmation that the Moonshade Order surveilled Elena even after Osvald's story wrapped up. She and Osvald have reunited at this point, so it would be a nice moment of like... tenderness in the middle of a horrific world event.
Partitio: Papp and Roque, probably. Again, another example of community in times of crises— along with the opportunity to show how Partitio continues to impact his community while away.
Agnea: Her family... I think Agnea and the gang checked up on them when the Darkest Night first started, so they'd be aware of what they're doing. Although, for this fic, since I plan on going in OCTOPATH order, the gang has long left Cropdale.
Temenos: Mm. Honestly I'd definitely put this fic in Mourning Howl's timeline since it could easily build off of the development I have written and/or have planned for it, so my first choice is Crick and Ort. I have it planned so Crick goes with Ort to do the investigation that takes place during "Ort's Next Chapter"— which itself takes place not soon after the ending of Temenos' story (wherein I imagine Crick's probably fully healed/restored). This means that yeah, they actually do suspect something's up wth Mindt before the reveal! I'm not decided on what changes I'll make to the story because of this just yet, but it's something to keep in mind. During the events of the Darkest Night, I imagine that the two stayed in Flamechurch to keep investigating, so they were protecting the people hiding in the Flamechurch cathedral before the travelers arrive! Since I remember that's the reasoning NPCs gave me when I played through the quest, seeing as how the cathedral doors were locked. Crick and Ort def interact directly with the travelers, and are the last to do so before they set off for Vidania. This would also include a sweet goodbye on Temenos' end. Because, of course.
Hikari: Benkei and the Ku NPCs! As the final segment for this fic, I'd have it so that it's established that Hikari did leave Benkei with orders on how to help the citizens along with any other measures he'd reasonably put in place for this situation, since he's still king even if he has to go off and save the world. To close it off, I would have it so that they witness the sun rise for the first time in who knows how long. It'd be thematically fitting too, considering Hikari's name means light.

Uh oh, just binge-read everything in the Darkest Timeline Eliot au and help i'm dyingggg!! And now I'm thinking about the long way down job and Eliot being on the team for the first time without any ulterior motive! Just being himself! And waiting for the other shoe to drop! And then Parker! Having feelings! Do we even get a "we do what they can't", a "that's what makes us us"? Like can he even compare himself to her or any of them? Can he comfort her? Who is he now that Moreau's gone?! !?!?
this is 800 words im so sorry but iVE RETRIEVED UR ASK FROM THE ETHER <3
OOF. oh MAN the long way down job...i feel like the long way down job is really like...uncertain, in this au. tentative. its a weird fragile little space. because the team puts moreau away (and doesn't lock eliot up with him, something eliot's vaguely shocked by) and then nate promises them all a break after san lorenzo...but eliot's pretty sure they're not going to ask him to come back, right
because the second the adrenaline from the job dies down, and they process what they've learned about him, they won't want to keep him. of course they won't! how could they! he stationed moreau's men outside of maggie and nana's houses like six months after meeting this team. how do you move forward and Build on that. the whole foundation's rotten.
SO the team splits up, and eliot's off trying to figure out what the hell he's going to do with himself now that there's no moreau AND there's no team, there's no Moreau's Eliot and there's no Their Eliot and what does that leave him with exactly. he bakes a lot of bread. he wears out his punching bag and moves out of his probably-moreau-funded apartment.
and then out of the blue nate just. really reluctantly calls eliot up again because they need him for this surprise mountain job? it's been less than 2 weeks they're on a tight deadline and he didn't have time to even THINK about getting a new hitter
and it's tense!! it's weird!! it's no one trusting eliot but still kind of, instinctively, trusting eliot and feeling like they Know him, and eliot (who doesnt even really know Himself at this point) is on his best behaviour and trying to figure out who he's supposed to Be now and who they Want him to be now
(maybe there's a brief moment of hesitation re: sending parker up a mountain alone with eliot. maybe they all kind of do the math at once like, nah, he'd literally cut his own arm off before hurting parker actually i think we're fine. he’s proven that much at least,,,but there's still the hesitation.)
......and then parker has Feelings. and tears up to eliot about it. parker (a person) has Feelings about whether or not she's a Good person, because she wants to do the right thing, wants to be Good like alec and sophie and nate, but it's a thing she has to actively try at. parker has Feelings about that in eliot (a knife in a person suit)'s general direction and asks if that makes her Bad.
like what do you say to that!!!
i don’t even know if he COULD compare himself to her in this moment, because like...in canon, eliot’s had a lot of years of dragging himself into being Better. he’s done the hard work. he’s taken stock of what he is and decided to draw some hard lines in the sand about what kinds of jobs he will and will not take, what kinds of orders he will and will not follow, etc. how he’ll treat people. how he’ll let people treat him.
after the san lorenzo job, he’s building on a solid foundation he’d laid before the show even started, and he Knows who and what he is, and he’s made Peace with it.
and this eliot doesn’t...have that? he’s not there yet! he has skills, but not hobbies yet, because he’s missing the pure enjoyment of them. this is an “i can cook, which makes me more useful” eliot, not a “food is life, this is my art” eliot. he’s a big ol blank space where a person should be. he’s coming off of a decade of damien moreau in his ear and not a lot of good before that, either.
SO i don’t think he can in good conscience compare himself to parker here,
1) because he’s not very far removed from the Moreau Atrocities he’s been committing yet,
2) because i think it’s only Through Working With The Team that he actually was forced to sit down and absorb & process what he’d been doing for moreau (and for the people before moreau) & decide how he felt about that. decide TO feel something about that at all, and
3) because lumping himself in with her just feels wrong, here, somehow. she's trying to be a good person and he's still trying to be a person, full stop
i think maybe he does still say (carefully, very carefully), hey, well, it was a good thing it was You. because nate and sophie and hardison are different, right? they’re softer, they act based on how things Should be instead of how they Are sometimes. and they’d die trying to get this guy out, because it’s Right, it’s Good, but it wouldn’t make things better for anyone etc.
and parker’s the one to be like. then it’s a good thing it was Us
