i dont like them. they ruined my life. Subz and Vitalasy had already partnered in previous seasons but this one, Vitalasy ended up leaving for a few months, leaving Subz alone, and Zam ended up getting close to him after immense trauma at the hands of his former teammates. Zam has done SO many wrongs, including to Subz himself and Subz STILL took him in and made him join Eclipse Federation after Zam died 14 times in a row and got banned then revived by the same player who's been killing him all this time. And it could've been perfect but no, Zam had betrayed his previous team due to them using dupes via exploits, and now Eclipse Federation ALSO has exploits! And he decided that yeah his morals were more important than being loved! And so he murders Vitalasy when he's at his most vulnerable point, lets everyone gaslight him into thinking Vitalasy is an irredeemable evil monster who will never change, even as Vitalasy SAID he was ready to change before the betrayal even happened, Eclipse threw out their whole revenge plans because of Zam's positive influence and he just broke everything. Subz couldn't be with Zam but also couldn't see himself at Vitalasy's side, leaving him alone. Vitalasy hated Zam and yet never killed him or hunted him down, despite Zam acting like he did. And when Vitalasy left, banning himself off from the server, Zam had some time alone to think and realized he fucked up SOOOO bad. And Subz revived Vitalasy and told him to kill him. And ban him. His last wish. His Deliverance. And to make up with Zam. And Vitalasy tried, and they kind of did make up over Subz's death, but then Zam was like "actually im going to kill everyone and destroy the server now. because i want subz back and also because i always do extremely drastic things when i don't need to because i have unchecked mental illnesses i refuse to get help for". And surprisingly when Subz came back he didn't like that! And they ended in tragedy! Eclipse is fucked up. It's a trio that's always about the absence of one person, it's a team that could only happen in one timeline and it was doomed from the very start. But the love was there. It made everything worse, truthfully. But it was there. And that matters. Also as a fun fact Zam himself on twitter has referred to eclipse as a throuple, which is not canon but that's pretty funny. he also stated on stream he didn't want to get therapy because it'd ruin his lifesteal character. and there was a saga where they would "marry" (challenge lost kinda shenanigans) and zam was the only one happy about it. he's not normal. there's something wrong with him. love that for him though sorry for the block of text. I really dislike them. They're my beloveds :3

Right so my sibling has joined a discord group that does vigilante justice on online predators, think "To Catch a Predator" but instead of having anyone who knows what they're doing they're a load of terminally online idiots. They lure in people, I don't want to know their methods tbh, then publically berate them in a discord voice chat. That's it.

The group ethos is that public humiliation will cure them of being pedos, and that is not how that works actually, you fuckin morons. The rest of this server are aware my sibling is 16, btw, and are totally chill with them being in the same space as people they accuse of being the worst forms of scum imaginable (pedos, zoophiles, zoo sadists, you get the idea).

Im sure you can tell I can't fucking stand this server for many reasons. Firstly, because they claim to care about children's welfare whilst bringing my sibling into a space like this. Secondly, because this method does not work and they're giving any victims false hope. Thirdly, the vast majority of the people they managed to convince to get in call with them are clearly mentally disabled in some way, and, while that doesn't excuse predation obviously, I suspect the server picks these people in particular because they want to yell at audibly disabled people over voice chat. Finally, there's a weird vibe to a lot of the members of this group that, for lack of a better description, screams porn brainrot. They're so sexual all the time and in very inappropriate places, like a fucking server meant to deal with sexual predation. There's a time and place for puppy kinks and in a discord server where evidence of people sexually abusing animals gets posted is not it!

So I found out about this, compiled my evidence, then showed my sibling and basically blackmailed them into leaving the server or I was going to show our mother what they'd been up to. I reported the sever separately, and I'm not sure what else I can do about it tbh. I know they'll just make a new one if this one gets taken down.

My sibling is very annoyed with me. they've been banging on with teenage melodrama that I'm standing in the way of grassroots justice and shit like that. Eventually I snapped and said "I bet every one of those grown adults in that server is a nonce or a dog fucker or something, and making a group like that was just to cover their asses and focus the attention off of their creepiness."

Since I said that, my sibling has been giving me the silent treatment, aita

okay now that im starting to see the posts going around about how qsmp is being handled so much better behind the scenes than the dsmp like. you're right and you should say it

but also don't fall into the trap of acting like it's because the dsmpeople are broadly bad people. what they are, broadly, is bad at organizing massive rp servers. which is fair! it's a hard thing to do! there aren't many people who know how to do that well!

qsmp has the dsmp's mistakes to learn from. quackity had a chance to be on the ground floor of all the dsmp's failures and successes and look at what worked and what didn't and move from there. dsmp was a lot of people earnestly trying without much idea of what they were doing or how to do it. qsmp is a lot of professionals who know what they're doing and who have already gotten the early failures out of their system coming together to do what they're good at really really well.

when diluc gave you his twitch, you immediately checked his account right away and you saw how many followers he had and you was amazed!!

you and diluc knew each other really well and because of diluc's schedule you could only talk to him on certain days on a certain time.

whenever diluc was streaming you would always be in the stream hanging out with diluc and interacting with him, diluc also put you as his mod <3 if you wanted to(which you did) you and diluc would be in vc playing games together on stream.

he also made a server for everyone who enjoyed his content(viewers and fans too) to join, he made a role only for you. and only for you - "the best" or any cute nickname.

after being put in the vc you immediately wanted to leave the call until you heard a “how are you.”, it wasn’t a “how are you?” it didn’t even sound like a question.

you didn’t want to leave this man hanging so you responded “im.. uh alright, you?” “mhm, good.”

now this voice wasn’t one that you didn’t recognize. before you’ve been in many vc’s and you’ve heard this man called “dain”s voice before - many women in call would swarm and fawn over him

of course you were one of them, except you were extremely weird with it and you weren’t like “OH MY GOSSSHH IT’S DAIN!!! AHHH” you were the “he has a nice voice. cool.”

but what was weird was that HE actually started the conversation first, dain never talked first, only talking first if he was being asked a question.

after that you and dain started to talk more and more

“sooo, do you know why we were being put in this vc?” “not a clue, but anyways”

there’s no way that the one and only albedo, the famous and handsome streamer had a crush on you.

how is that even possible? albedo never showed any emotion towards anyone, only smiling and laughing sometimes. but never have albedo looked at someone with genuine love and care.

and that makes you feel some what special. but what can you say? you feel the same way towards him anyways <3

so, how did you two meet? well.. once upon a time albedo was just streaming when he accidentally(how??) joined the wrong server and you were the owner and welcomed him

you were so kind and albedo felt bad if he left so he just stayed and replied with “thank you” and the rest they say, is history.

im just kidding, let me just throw in bits and pieces of the most important details

about albedo, albedo was one of those “among us” streamers during quarantine

and that’s when his popularity started the bloom

most of his viewers were just there because of his content OR his looks, he looked like he was an goddess, his face looked like as if it was carved by angels themselves, his hair looked soft and silky and his calm demeanor and soft/calming voice made girls fawn over him.

because of his calm demeanor, people have always thought of him as an unproblematic(WHICH HE IS!!) streamer and a shy man but nope, albedo IS unproblematic but he isn’t quite.. shy

but after meeting you - things changed, you changed his life and.. him over all.

you and albedo talked after you welcomed him - then things started to escalate(not really), you and albedo had a lot of things in common and that ended up with albedo friending you and honestly, he didn’t mind friending you. you were fun to talk to and he meant it

and since then you two have been talking non stop <3

within a few weeks albedo’s fans started to notice odd changed with his behaviour

albedo always paused his game or said “sorry guys, i need to do something” and got on his phone, typing something and then.. smiling?? who’s this? this is NOT albedo.

albedo would also seem more happier? he seemed like he was in a better mood every single day and not that anyone’s complaining.. it’s just, odd.

right! how did you and scara meet? well it all happened way before scara hit 1 mill subs

you and scara had been online friends since forever, you two met on a gaming server and since then you two have been getting closer and closer every day <3

scara seemed to appreciate you more day by day and you loved that about him, he wasn’t as mean as before but he was a bit better.

throughout his streams he grew more and more

and of course you helped him!! by supporting and promoting/hyping him back!!

tbh i just dont want the dsmp to be remembered in infamy for being just a server who had criminals on there. it was so much more than just a minecraft server to me, and if it means that im the only dsmp fan lying around, so be it. i like the lore. i LOVE the characters.

i dont care if some of the cc's are assholes/just vile people, im fully separating the characters from em, because, y'know what? the characters aren't the cc's, they're fictional.

i think im gonna plan a lil project, yknow, just to send a "farewell", well, not for me, im still gonna be here lmao, but to the people who're leaving/left the fandom permanently.

to make the memory of the server not tainted by whoever was exposed for doing something vile, to make the memory of the server alive.

it's to make it less bittersweet, and more happy. im happy you were here, im happy you had those memories here. don't be sad or frustrated because it's over or some shitty cc's, be happy because it happened at all. be happy for all the experiences you had in this community.

that server was purely driven by fanworks, you made that server happen, you were apart of its success, you made that little song a whole symphony. and i wish you well on your future :)

also, kindly fuck off if you'd like to hate on dsmp or mcyt in general because of creeps, this server wasn't only here because of them, it was the fanbase, the songs, the animations, the art, the fanfiction.

there was a story here, tons of lore throughout hundreds of hours of livestreams on twitch. a story about war, about broken friendships, about nations falling them rising back up and then falling again, about a man wanting control, about a child soldier, about an anarchist, about so, so many things.

so many former fans that have a superiority complex where they deem themselves "better" than people who left later or are still here just because they left. you arent better than any of them, you need to learn that. you just left earlier, you cant just call yourself better than any of them.

im so sick of hearing those fucking jokes with minecraft or dsmp youtubers as the punchline, this is why so many dsmp cc's distance themselves from it. not every minecraft youtuber is a terrible person, what about grian? what about tommy? what about joel? what about scar? what about lizzie? what about tubbo? are they all just bad people apparently because they're minecraft youtubers and/or associated with the dsmp or other servers? no, they arent.

Earlier today I mentioned Mechanisms catboi edits

Okay, so, question I've had for a while but never got around to asking, what the FUCK is up with Grian's wings?

If all physical differences in players (like those particularly ascribed to 'Hybrids' in mcyt fanon) in Hunger AU are a result of conscious altering of your own code for the express purpose of achieving YOUR IDEAL BODY(tm) then what does that mean for Grian and his wings? No one seems to regard Grian's wings as "What The Fuck, You Can DO That?!?" so presumably wings aren't so big of a change from normal biology that players can't do that. If so, why is it not more common? Man, if I could have wings I'd jump on that in seconds. Especially with the sheer utility the ability to fucking FLY gives players. Are wings (and maybe other larger alterations) just like, REALLY HARD to code in? If so, that might add a really cool layer of "Oh wow! They must be a really good coder!" to players who meet people like that.

On a related note, Grian seems to have a positive regard for his wings, which is interesting because I would be willing to bet he didn't have that before *insert sounds of worm-bursting and non-consensual body modification*. I imagine seeing his wings would likely feel like a reminder of the Watchers and what they did to him. BUT, Watchers manipulate their own code when they change like Grian did to, y'know, not be a worm anymore so Grian probably specifically chose how he looked, right? So, unless he did so really rushed and somehow made a mistake while doing so (which he might not be able to risk the structural damage of correcting), keeping the wings was a conscious decision. Does Grian just not associate his wings with the Watchers or is it something else? Does he just really enjoy having wings?

HELLO I AM SO GLAD YOU'VE ASKED THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ‼️‼️‼️‼️ MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Okay okay so these are all SUCH valid questions, lemme go through them one by one. Wings are indeed something anyone could have if they wanted to code them in-- and in fact, i do believe many other Players have wings throughout the universe!!! As far as body mods go, i like to think of them as decently popular, so its definitely not anything too weird to see. In chapter 5, i even make a mention to Pearl having moth wings she occasionally codes in due to preference!!! So wings of many different types are definitely available-- but the catch is that they're real fiddly to code. You cant just give yourself wings, you have to code in the bone structure, the muscles, the tendons, etc etc, and then you have to change your entire body structure as well to work with and fully support them. They can be awkward and unwieldy, as ive tried to show in the fic itself, and i think that alone can be a big discouragement for Players considering coding in wings, along with the sheer coding effort needed to obtain them and make them functional

And the thing is, elytra already exist-- they're far more compact, they dont take up as much space, you can take them on and off super easily without having to mess with your coding, and they basically do the same thing. Sure, its a pain to get one, but a lot of Players really enjoy the sense of accomplishment, and i think theres a bit of cultural prestige too in that regard. Server milestones are a huge thing in Player culture, and getting your first pair of elytra is a big one!!! So it makes sense to me that people who just dont want to go through the effort of coding in wings (which can then in turn complicate how they code other future modifications) primarily stick to elytra.

And everybody is different-- some people prefer attributes that arent wings. I like to think everyone in hermitcraft generally is a mix of "jeez thats effort, i could be building my base instead of doing that" and "eh im fine how i am, i like it" and "well we have elytra shops everywhere so why bother".

So in short, yeah!! Wings are a bit complex to code in. They're still pretty popular, i think plenty of Players do choose to incorporate them, but it takes a lot of hard and thorough work to make sure they function right and wont bug you out when you use them. There are billions of Players scattered across the universe, so what you're seeing in the fic right now is truly just a drop in the ocean when it comes to Player body diversity :] and then, elytra basically already help Players achieve a form of flight without the hassle of recoding their entire body structure, so i think the majority of Players just prefer to use them instead.

AS FOR GRIAN'S WINGS IN PARTICULAR......

Well..... its complicated. Particularly his feelings about them-- in the fic, i referenced them as the only good thing the Watchers ever gave him, and thats how he sees it, i think: a thin silver lining. He's had many, many years to get used to them, and i think he goes through periods where he hates them and the memories attached, too. Ultimately, he's kinda stuck with them, so i think he hit a form of acceptance (as bitter-tinged as it may be) out of sheer necessity for his own sanity.

As for why he has them, and hasnt coded them out: i think of it as a particular quirk of biology/structural coding. Watchers have a more instinctive way of coding than Players, but a Player-minded Watcher is still going to think like a Player, and thats going to muddle things a lot. Grian essentially had to relearn how to code, in a way that satisfied both Player and Watcher-style coding, and the results at first were.... a little rough around the edges. Once he managed to finally take on his original former appearance, the wings from his true form just kind of.... stuck. I like to think it took a few increasingly desperate tries before he realized he just could not figure out how to get rid of them (bc of how different his new code was), and had to accept that this was just how he was gonna have to live for a while until he finally figured it out. And then, well.... you can get used to anything, if you're stuck with it long enough. I think after a while it just stopped being a huge priority, and then he reached a point where it would be more awkward to live without them than with them, and he eventually dropped the idea altogether. And i think sometimes, they function almost like a scar, to him-- a reminder of what he went through, yes, but a reminder that he did manage to escape. And, ofc, he also just really, really likes flying skdjskdjdj

So yeah, loads of complicated feelings there about his wings, and its stuff i do plan on exploring later in the fic!!! This got a little rambly, but i hope this makes sense and answers your questions!!!! :D its a fun little complicated knot that im glad someone has gotten curious enough to ask about!!!!

"The dsmp characters are my OCS now!!" Dude they were always your characters. They've been ours from the beginning.

We spent years of our lives analyzing every line in every stream that was even partially in-character to help form a complete and complex and often contradictory picture of the characters these streamers were trying to portray. No matter how good at rp they were there was always a pretty significant portion of their characters that came from fans analyzing and theorizing and creating compilations of consistencies...

The form of storytelling in the dsmp was extraordinarily collaborative with it's audience, so many things that eventually became canon were inspired by or even directly lifted from fan interpretations and it's no exaggeration to say that the fact that the server became roleplay-focused at all is mostly thanks to the fans.

Not dunking on people saying they're going to "OC-ify" the characters - on the contrary im actually saying go bananas w making them whatever you want! But I do want to remind us all that as a fan base we practically co-authored these characters in the first place. They've always been ours too!
