I feel like batfam fans misunderstand the term parentification a lot and conflate it with Dick filling a parental role for his siblings, which might be part of the “oldest daughter syndrome” that’s so often pinned on him but that isn’t what parentification actually means

If I say that Dick Grayson was parentified, then that isn’t referring to him taking care of his siblings, it refers to the way Bruce treated him. As someone capable of taking care of his emotional needs and not as the child in need of care in the relationship

Parentification is a term that’s been around for decades, and while having to care for younger siblings might be a part of the definition, it focuses mostly on the role reversal of the parent-child dynamic. I’m not going to get into the psychology of it but being parentified has very little to do with if he actually acted as a parent for his siblings and everything to do with if he acted as a parent for Bruce

This is honestly why I prefer the term spouseification, which is less ambiguous than the term parentification and I feel accurately describes their “equal” relationship and the type of emotional abuse that Dick went through

Also from what I’ve read, Dick doesn’t act as a parental figure for any of his siblings except for Damian. While he might have given extra emotional support to Tim due to Bruce being Bruce, Dick still fits solidly into an older brother role. I’m not even going to touch on Dick’s relationship with Jason which is too weak to even be considered fraternal never mind parental

i know its a joke but my autistic brain is going wild at that raccoon vs goose post. why would u ever take a raccoon in a fight over a goose. geese are mean sure but theyre FINE like theyre not really gonna do much damage. the most you’ll get from a goose attack is like a bruise and MAYBE a small cut if it claws you on a spot with no clothes covering skin. the most you’ll get from a raccoon attack is rabies and die

#remember: healthy raccoons never attack unless provoked. if you’re going into a wild raccoon den and you get attacked its kind of on you. #but if one comes out of nowhere and starts attacking you that is probably a rabid animal or at least has some other serious disease #because they do NOT do that normally #healthy geese will readily attack if you get too close to their nesting sites or their chicks bc they’re very protective parents #you can literally throw geese. the only thing they have to grab you with is their beak. yes they can fly at you but they have basically a #handle you can grab. their big fucking neck. once you grab their neck (easy) you can literally throw them away #and theyll back down bc it’s a display of power. but you should run away anyways #geese aren’t really gonna carry anything that will hurt you. bird flu doesn’t affect humans (although it does become an issue if you have #pets bc it can kill cats and dogs) but raccoons carry rabies which is 100% fatal #also raccoons are a lot harder to grab and get away from bc they’re faster than you think #raccoons can run up to 25 km/h. the high average of a human’s running speed is 13 km/h #dont risk it babe. as soon as you become symptomatic for rabies you’re dead #i am 100% putting way too much thought and energy into this. however i am autistic #rambles

the ones in the au so far (besides the ones you’ve already mentioned) are ren and his hels, rend (wolf hybrids), xb and his hels bx (guardian hybrids), gem (deer hybrid) and her hels, capricornslays or cap for short (unicorn hybrid), scott and his hels, sean sminor (unspecified fish hybrids??), grian (parrot hybrid) and his hels, scáil (some other unspecified bird hybrid), bigb (goat hybrid), zedaph (sheep hybrid), jevin (slime hybrid) and his hels, helvin (magma cube hybrid), doc (technically part goat hybrid?? but also part creeper hybrid and part mech) and… maybe some others i’m forgetting. hopefully not. but YEAH u can have hybrids of basically any animal or mob except for skeletons, zombies, and villagers- things that are like. already humans in some capacity? or, were human. cuz that’d be weird.

Once again, I’m working on multiple fics at once rather than just focusing on one and actually finishing it. Some of the stuff I’m writing at the minute includes:

• More trans Morty (some backstory on Morty A-70 figuring out he’s trans/coming out)

• Flesh Curtains era Birdrick (the original idea was to have a series of little drabble-y type things exploring times Rick and Birdperson realised just how alien the other actually was to them but now it’s sort of changing into a longer fic of them getting to know each other and also exploring Rick’s issues so we’ll see where that goes)

• J.R./Rand smut

There’s also some other WIPs that I haven’t looked at in a while (Morty finding out he’s autistic and so is Rick, some smuttier Birdrick content, and a Birdrick request that I’m very sorry it’s taking me so long!) but hopefully will continue although I have a feeling a lot of stuff might get thrown off once new episodes drop.

My witch species ocs are literally huge fucking birds with fucking teeth and it is the most amazing thing ever

#about my ocs #ok they aren’t LITERALLY birds I think they’d be closer to dinosaurs really #they can do magic kinda (hence the name witch) and they’re hard headed in the literal sense #and sometimes in the metaphorical (?) sense. they’ll kool aid man a wall with their face and be fine #they have flat teeth. no sharps!! they’re born out of eggs so they need egg breakers on their face yknow #they’re fucking HUGE for no reason. shorter ones are usually mixed species #their top halves are usually really strong. gotta hold up those huge noggins. they too heavy most times #they have swivel owl necks. full 360° that shit #and yes they do the bird thing where their body moves but their head doesn’t <3 #most all of em have a major blind spot right in front of their face. so they can only really see out of one eye at a time </3 #their hair is usually thin and feathery. some don’t even have hair at all (see James who is bald) #anyways I like them and how they obviously tower over literally everyone else <3
