#there are quite a lot of videos on yewchube about cats #it's a fascinating musical bc it's like HOW did it get so popular. WHY does it exist #and the movie is such a funny train wreck #directly after seeing it in theaters I kept trying to draw charming redesigns #for a theoretical cats animated movie #like the one that was in production but got shelved #idk. it's such a spectacle and the music is good #and idk I like the costumes and choreography #particularly the 1998 version. #thinking about leitmotifs or like symbolic choreography....purposeful tempo and key changes.... #it's pretty cool. #weird I just remember seeing cats the musical broadway ads on tv and being like.
