finally caught up with 13 and I have no qualms about Graham and Dan except for the fact that they make it painfully obvious that getting the writers to have the Doc and Yasmin interact for more than 3 minutes at a time was like pulling teeth
SO. I heard that the Doctor apparently said that Yaz is the most amazing person she's ever met, and that obviously pissed off a lot of fans of the Doctor's other romantic relationships. I can't verify this information, because I'm officially only at the beginning of the 13th Doctor's Air, so tell me if it's wrong. But if it's true, I feel like saying that the doctor was certainly speaking, precisely, for his 13th incarnation (who is in love with her as well), and not really for his whole long life (unless I'm wrong and if she said it, she really meant it in that sense ? If so, wtf ?). I adore Yaz for the moment, and I am sure that she will grow as a character. But let's face it. The Doctor has known far more extraordinary than her, objectively speaking, such as : Rose, Donna, Martha, River, Clara, etc. Without a doubt, Yaz is one of the most extraordinary people the doctor has ever met. But the most extraordinary short ? No. But for her 13th incarnation, knowing that she loves him ? Certainly.
Remembered that after Eve of the Daleks I saw someone on twitter saying something like "you don't have to be Bill straight away. You can be Yaz for a while. It's ok to be Yaz." and I understand the disappointment with Yaz coming out so late in her run and then her and thirteen not getting the confirmation/closure we wanted I really do but I think it's also important to consider that Yaz is there for the queer women who are just discovering who they are. Who also stumbled headfirst into love with their closest friends without fully realising and needed someone to nudge them to a) admit it and b) do something about it. Or who can remember a time when they were like Yaz. We all want to be as confident and upfront about ourselves as Bill but it doesn't happen overnight. I wished and will continue to wish they had more closure too but that doesn't mean it wasn't worth the representation. What Yaz went through is a real and common queer experience and I for one am glad we got to see that side of the process too. It's ok to be Yaz.
Just catching up with Doctor Who and let me tell you, I was never a fan of the several Doctor/companion ship because to me it always felt like there was an imbalance of power and feelings but with Thirteen and Yaz it's the first time I see some genuine romantic affection from the Doctor. Thirteen just likes her and I'm loving it.
Just saying that if I'd start shipping the doctor with a companion it would be them 🤷♀️
Thasmin did so much for us and for the future of Doctor Who. We got an on screen confession and even the official DW social media accounts share their underwater date 😭 I love them
Just a sneak peek of an edit I'm working on. I didn't really get to celebrate pride month so I'm trying to make up for it now. Just a compilation of some of my favorite sapphic couples.
That moment you realise your about to get new Jodie content and it might even be sapphic:
🥳💃🏻🥰
That moment you realise it’s because all of 13 and Yaz’s content is over and the end of their story wasn’t exactly what you were hoping and now never will be:
