The round from the latest stream where Brody and Tango are lovers, and Brody kills in front of Tango and he has to go through all the stages of realization/freaking out/trying to calm down/deciding to cover for him, just in time to speak up at the meeting...I can't even remember if they won or not, but I love the whole sneaky pact dynamic of an impostor-crewmate lovers team so much and I know you'd write it so well :)

i feel like i need to clarify that even though it’s called the “lovers” role, this is not shippy in any way :) it’s not meant to be read as ship so please dont tag as ship

At the end of the first meeting of the round, when Skizz and Impulse’s bodies were reported and nobody was ejected, Tango trots after Brody and catches up with him in storage, linking arms with him. “Heeeyyy,” he says in a singsong voice.

“Hey,” Brody responds warmly. What’s up?”

“I think you know what’s up,” says Tango, making an exaggerated kissy face.

Brody snickers and pushes his friend’s face away. “Don’t do that, man. We’re not supposed to let people know we’re the lovers, remember.”

“What, are you embarrassed for our friends to find out about our looooooove?”

“Ooookay, I’m going now.”

Tango grins as he watches Brody pick up speed and round the corner, before heading into communications to do his task. He loves teasing his lover partners. Considering the lovers role is quite high-risk, it can be tense at times. So Tango likes to mess around a bit more.

He completes this task and has just finished the shields task when another body is reported.

Tango stays silent throughout the subsequent meeting, letting his thoughts drift away. There’s only six people left; a double kill would end the game. And it’s not like Tango’s seen anything that would be of use.

“If nobody can stand up for you, I’m voting you out,” Brody is saying. “Tango?”

Tango blinks, glancing up at his friend. “Hm?”

“Can you vouch for Etho?”

Tango’s gaze flickers to Etho, who’s watching him pleadingly. “Sorry,” he says quietly. “I haven’t seen him.”

“Then I’m voting Etho,” Brody says. “I suggest you all do the same.”

Even though he hasn’t paid much attention to the meeting, Tango decides to trust his lover and votes for Etho, who votes for Brody. But it’s not enough to save him.

After Etho’s been ejected, Tango quickly heads for security to finish his penultimate task: the final wiring task. Now he only has one more: a task in electrical that he’s been putting off for as long as possible. Once that one is finished, he decides he’ll go find Brody and stick with him. He trusts Brody implicitly.

As Tango rounds the corner outside of lower engine, he spots Brody himself coming out of electrical. His lover doesn’t stop, but he does give a friendly smile and wave.

Smiling back, Tango starts to head into electrical but stops dead as the strong scent of blood hits him like a brick wall.

Then his eyes land on Evil’s dead body lying in front of the lightbox.

His stomach drops and he hurriedly dashes out of the room, running back the way he came. He darts into security and sits down heavily against the wall, hardly able to breathe as he digests what he just saw.

Brody JUST came out of electrical. There’s no way he’s not the killer.

“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god-!” Tango gasps out over and over. He’s freaking out and he has no idea what to do.

Brody got Etho ejected. He’s killed at least one person, likely more. Tango is the person who reported Impulse’s body during the first part of the game… What if Brody is the one who put it there?

Unfortunately, he doesn’t get long to calm himself down, as Evil’s body is reported a few seconds later.

Tango takes a deep breath as he realises Brody must’ve returned to self-report. Astro and Joker are the only two left. He knows Astro is safe, so the other imposter must be Joker.

Joker and Brody. His lover.

Tango knows it’s just a game. But the lovers role has created a bond between Tango and Brody that feels so raw and real, as if they really are soulmates. And to find out now that his lover is the killer…

“I found Evil in electrical,” Brody reports. “I saw no-one around.”

Tango’s brain is scrambled.

“I was in reactor doing my last task,” says Joker. “The counting one.”

WHAT DO I DO WHAT DO I DO WHAT DO I DO-

“I was all the way over in weapons,” Astro says. “I was looking around for dead bodies.”

I know what I have to do.

“I-I was with Brody when we discovered the body,” Tango blurts out before he can stop himself. “I can vouch for him.”

He briefly makes eye contact with Brody, who gives him the smallest of frowns.

“In that case, it must be Joker,” Astro says. “Right?”

Tango momentarily stops breathing. This is it. Brody has a choice to make right now; will he choose his imposter partner or his lover?

Finally, Brody responds, “Yeah, it’s gotta be Joker.”

“What? No!” Joker glares pointedly at him. “What are you doing? We’ve been together so much this game.”

“Sorry, but Astro’s story checks out and I was with Tango. Nobody else it can be.”

Joker furiously opens his mouth to reply but he happens to glance over at Tango, who steadily meets his gaze, and stops dead, clearly realising what’s going on. Realising too late that he doesn’t have a chance.

“I hate you both,” he snaps. “Astro, you’ve been totally duped and I feel sorry for you. Mmn, actually, no, I don’t.”

Confident in the knowledge that everyone else has already voted, Tango sidles closer to Brody and links arms with him. He knows that Brody is a killer, but he still feels the urge to be close to Brody, to seek comfort from him. Maybe it’s their many years of friendship, maybe it’s their platonic bond made stronger by the lovers role. Either way, he knows they’ve won this round.

Astro spots this and sighs. “Ah. I should’ve known.”

“Yeah, you should have,” snaps Joker.

Astro shoots him a scowl. “You’ve been in this situation before, Joker. You know that if you’re the fourth person in this scenario, you have zero chance of winning. And frankly, I’d like at least ONE crewmate to win.”

Joker scowls back at him for a moment before sighing. “Fair enough.”

He votes for himself, creating a unanimous decision.

Back in the lobby, Tango glances over and happens to meet Brody’s gaze. He can feel that the lovers bond has disappeared.

“Nice job staying alive,” Brody chuckles.

Tango opens his mouth to reply but Joker interrupts, “Dude, you’ve no idea how close you were to getting killed, there. The only thing that saved you was Brody going “mm mm, mm mm” at me.”

“Like “bad idea, bad idea”, yeah,” laughs Brody. “Sorry, Joker.”

Joker grins back. “No worries.”

“Honestly, I was undecided about which one of you to betray until that final meeting, when Tango said we were together even though we weren’t. You must’ve been aware that I was the imposter at that point, right?”

“I only realised it JUST then,” responds Tango. “When I stumbled onto Evil’s body in electrical just seconds after I saw you come out of there. I realised you had to be the killer.”

“And you still decided to cover for me?”

“It was my only chance of winning, really. I couldn’t risk you getting ejected cuz then I’d die too.”

Brody grins and nudges him. “And that’s the only reason, hm?”

Tango frowns at him. “Huh?”

“It wasn’t cuz you didn’t want your beloved lover to die?”

After a moment, Tango rolls his eyes amusedly. “Okay, maybe it was a little bit that. A tiny bit.”

Brody’s grin widens. “Uh huh. Anyway, when you covered for me, that’s when I decided I was gonna stick with you.”

“For better or for worse,” teases Tango.

Joker rolls his eyes and makes a disgusted noise. “Bleh. Guys, you’re not "lovers" anymore. No need to act like it.”

“I think Joker’s just jealous,” Brody responds, grinning.

“Jealous? Of having a fake lover who murders people in cold blood? Thanks, but no thanks.”

“Oh, I cannot WAIT for the round you get to be lovers with someone,” Tango laughs.

Brody gives Joker a light punch on the shoulder. “I’d feel sorry for his partner, honestly.”

“I hate you both.”

Rereading Korosuu Chapter 4 (the ChibaHaya chapter) from the perspective that Hayami has feelings for Chiba

And boy, is it a ride.

Check out the previous post

Listen, I’m a big ChibaHaya shipper but I never believed they liked each other romantically in canon. One of things I like the most about their dynamic is how great they are even without the typical shippy stuff like blushing, stammering etc. They work well both platonically and romantically.

So I never tried to go MiDDLe ScHOoL cHiBaHaYa is CanOn but then I read the Chinese translation Ch4 of Korosuu. And boy oh boy did it make me think Hayami has ✨feelings✨ for Chiba. (And he doesn’t.) I literally did not expect that, but once I saw things from that perspective, I can’t stop lol.

Keep in mind I’m analysing a Japanese -> Chinese translation in English, and I don’t have the Japanese raws, so the word choices may be off. And I am probably overanalysing but yes, I will eat these ChibaHaya crumbs for the tiniest bit of information.

Also keep in mind manga Chiba is more social than Hayami (you can check Fumiko’s posts for more information, she’s the Chiba expert haha). So while these two may have the same responses (eg. smiling because of what the other said), it weighs differently.

So Hayami was originally going home, but stopped when she saw Chiba trying to figure out a problem. And so she helped him pump the balloons to act as Chiba’s targets. They discussed for a bit, then they both said they were surely getting closer to their “answer”.

And then they both smiled. The translation is “速水露齒而笑。千葉也回以微笑。” which is “Hayami grinned, and Chiba returned with a smile”. But notably, the translator used “露齒而笑” (literally: grinning with teeth) for Hayami and just “笑” (smile) for Chiba. “笑” and “微笑” (which also means smile, but a little softer) are used five times in total, and considering they’re interchangeable in Chinese, the translator probably used them to add variety. But “露齒而笑”? That’s different. That’s the only time the translator used this term to describe someone smiling. And “grinning (with teeth)” feels more joyful than “smiling”. And it’s used to describe Hayami’s reaction.

Hmm.

By the way, let’s count how many times they smiled in this chapter. Hayami smiled 3 times, Chiba also 3. And literally every time they smile it’s in response to something the other did/said. Chiba smiles more than Hayami in the manga, so the fact that Hayami is smiling so much in front of Chiba... hmmm...

As mentioned before, Hayami stuttered when Chiba praised her. In the translation, she barely stuttered anywhere else. Hmm.

After a very long time, Chiba lifted his head and turned to Hayami.

“Hayami, you’re brilliant! So it was like this all along! Why have I never noticed something so simple?”

“Wh-what?”

Yeah. She stuttered after Chiba called her brilliant/amazing.

And then, of course, the most telling paragraph follows.

Hayami felt bewildered upon seeing the suddenly agitated Chiba. Even though she had always been looking at him in E class, she hardly recalled seeing him so delighted.

She had always been looking at him. Whoa.

The Chinese translation is “雖然一直在E班看著他”, special focus on “一直” (always) and “看” (look). Like, okay, it could mean “from her daily observations, she didn’t recall seeing such an expression” or “looking after him” or “knowing him from school” but this phrasing just makes me think she’s staring at him in class. And you know what, Chiba actually sits behind Hayami in another row. So she has to turn around to “look” at him, which is a deliberate action. Of course the translation used “E class”, which also means training and other misc stuff and not just conventional lessons.

Either way, she’s been observing him. She’s ALWAYS been observing him. Continuously. And she knows she’s never seen him so joyful. And the translator (and maybe Matsui?) felt the urge to point it out.

After complimenting Hayami, Chiba proceeds to explain his new theory. And thus the passage:

“So what do you think?”

Chiba turned to Hayami, a smile quirking on his lips. He lightly prodded the pages of his notebook with his mechanical pencil.

“That’s brilliant!” Hayami also used an excited tone to reply as she looked down at the diagram.

“If you weren’t there, I probably wouldn’t have thought of it. Even though it’s really simple once you notice it...”

Hayami used a smile to respond to his words.

The word “也” (also) is used in Hayami’s happy response to China. Granted, it may be a translator thing, to add word variety and connectives, but the sentence makes perfect sense without the 也.

From this we can infer Hayami’s mood is affected by Chiba’s, and probably vice versa, but Hayami’s case is specifically mentioned.

Next day, Chiba stays behind to practice again. And he looks sad because he’s failing.

Hayami thinks “I suppose even people like Chiba will feel uneasy when thinking about official operations” (一旦設想正式行動，即使是千葉這樣的人類也會感到不安吧。) This makes me !!!! because it sort of implies Hayami thought Chiba won’t be nervous. She thought of him in a positive light, only for him to disprove it. Also, the use of “吧”. “吧” is commonly used in dialogue, so here it implies Hayami is thinking the whole line despite the lack of speech bubbles, not some omniscient narrator saying it.

Then Hayami tries to encourage him.

“Relax. If you think it’s right, then it has to be.”

“Even though hearing you say that makes me happy...”

^ this is one of the most mutual shippy moments in my opinion. Hayami has total faith and trust in Chiba, and Chiba literally told her that her trust in him makes him happy. It just feels... kinda shipbaity. The sentence structure “雖然你這麼說讓我很開心啊……” (Even though hearing you say that makes me happy...) feels like something out of a romance novel (especially in Chinese), even though the words don’t exactly have a romantic meaning.

Chiba says Hayami’s words makes him “happy”, but he’s still troubled by the shooting problem. Hayami trusting Chiba despite Chiba not trusting himself makes him happy. Oho. That... can be interpreted in a shippy way.

When Hayami sees that Chiba is still troubled, she “nonchalantly” says “to fill in the gaps using intuition” (看著無法消除不安情緒的千葉，速水若無其事地說。”無法確定的地方，用直覺填補就好了喲。”)

I believe there’s a typo here, since the next line is “千葉帶著的表情抬頭看著速水”, which is “Chiba lifted his head to look at Hayami with a xxx expression”. So the translator accidentally left out his expression (the sentence doesn’t make sense otherwise), but we can easily infer Chiba’s feelings from the following lines.

Chiba basically thinks “Intuition? What? She’s talking about things unrelated to this shooting problem again.” He doesn’t say it out loud (no speech bubbles), but he probably shows his doubt through his facial expression that the translator unfortunately left out.

And Hayami wants to prove him wrong.

So Hayami roughly glanced around the classroom, and quietly uttered, “Vase, tape, Korosensei.”

Before Chiba could ask “what are you talking about?”, Hayami swiftly pulled out a pistol from her thigh and shot three bullets with surprising speed.

Hayami hits all three targets without aiming precisely. Naturally, Chiba is in awe, calling it a “miracle”. Chiba says even though he, out of everyone in 3-E. can shoot the furthest target using calculations, he can’t imitate Hayami’s perceptual(?) type of shooting.

And then:

Hayami shot a stunned Chiba a smile.

The word for “stunned” (目瞪口呆) literally means “eyes wide, mouth frozen”, but that’s just a Chinese phrase for being stunned.

Honestly, to me, I feel:

Hayami wants to help Chiba -> Chiba is in doubt -> Hayami wants to prove him wrong and show off -> she quickly shoots her targets based on intuition/emotion, not even waiting to hear what Chiba has to ask -> (she wants to show off lol) -> when she sees he’s in awe, she smiles (smugly?)

ALSO, Hayami may have gained confidence after Chiba praised her by saying she’s brilliant, and that may be why she shot so quickly (since the adrenaline rush or something.)

Hayami then says something:

“And if at that time, you’re not confident in your theories, in the end, I’ll still shoot according to my gut feelings. (Basically saying if you can’t do it, I can do it for you.) We can do what the other cannot do. If we team up and become partners, there’s no target we cannot hit.”

Chiba gazed at Hayami’s face for a moment, then smiled and said, “Thanks.”

Wow. What surprised me is that Hayami’s the one with the speech— she’s the more serious and reserved out of the two. For her to say something so “sentimental” when she’s usually like “I respect you”, wow...

By the way, “凝視” (gaze) is used. It can mean stare, but it usually means gaze. Also he gazed at her face (臉). This is specifically mentioned. Mmmmm.

And I can’t get over “將兩者合為一體的話一定能順利地進行”. It means “if we combine two into one, it’ll definitely proceed smoothly”. They’re... MERGING lmao. It’s so shipbaity.

There’s also more stuff, like how they agree on something without speaking, but that’s... typical ChibaHaya stuff. And that’s it.

SO:

Possible hints of Hayami’s feelings towards Chiba:

1. Hayami immediately helped Chiba with practice even though she was intending to go home

2. SHE LOOKS AT HIM IN CLASS. Bro. I can’t make this up.

3. Hayami is happy when Chiba is

4. SHE STUTTERED WHEN HE SAID SHE’S BRILLIANT

5. She wanted to prove him wrong by showing off (this is a stretch)

6. She low-key put him on a pedestal (?) because she thought he won’t be nervous (this is also a stretch)

Possible hints of Chiba’s feelings towards Hayami:

1. He was very noticeably happy, perhaps a side he only shows to people close to him

2. Chiba says Hayami praising him makes him happy

3. He gazed at her face. Yes, her face.

But I don’t think Chiba likes Hayami that way. Like, he didn’t stutter when she praised him, he just said he’s happy. Hayami is usually very chill and calm, and even quieter than Chiba, so when she stutters because of Chiba, hmm...

Of course all of this is immediately disproven by the mini comic, with Ritsu claiming they reply to their emails a day late and their heart rates don’t go up when next to each other. Psssh. Okay, Ritsu. I mean, we can always hc Ritsu is protecting her friends’ privacy by lying about them. And of course Chiba and Hayami can stay as purely friends. I like their dynamic either way.

35 Questions for Fanfiction Writers

well since dearest @bachint asked, here goes nothing!

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

well if no downplaying’s allowed i guess i’d give it a 3/5? some mistakes since i’m not a native plus i”m still working on getting my english style better! i like what i come up with all the same, i’ve improved a lot these past two years, and my grammar isn’t that bad i guess?

2. Why do you write fanfiction?

to do what developers didn’t do in the first place to make good use of my imagination, to cope with the fact that some characters don’t exist and i will never follow another one of their adventures, to forget about a boring real life...

3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

my writing doesn’t stand out lmaooo but i guess i’m always trying to focus on the character’s psychology, struggles and all that, so if someone likes my work, it’s ‘original’ bc it’s usually quite different from the usual stories where there are a lot of dialogues and interactions.

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

i’ve been inspired a lot by @welcometogressenheller (i wish i could do as well as she does.....), @aceklaviergavin (kudos to you even if you never see that post and you probably don’t know who i am), and some others whose name i forgot (sorry!)

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

i didn’t write much but i guess that my latest fics are really nice (There’s No Light In You Anymore, and the whole Faith series on AO3). also my big project “Now That You’re Gone”, i’m glad i’ve been able to write that much for it and i intend on continuing as soon as i find the motivation!

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

pain, struggles and all that comes with it as long as it’s in the character’s mind, because beware here you step in a dark space

7. What element of writing do you struggle with most?

ordinary scenes of life? i always find my writing lacking as soon as i step out of my comfort zone, i’m all for rambling and never-ending pain

8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write?

all the good guys (and dimitri allen because i’d love writing about him but i’m? just unable to?)

10. What’s your favorite genre to write for?

that may come as a surprise! angst!

12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.

professor layton and the shattering secrets!!! i’m so happy of what this AU will look like when i’ll be done writing the following chapters, at first it probably looks annoying but heck i wanna promise anyone who’s reading it that the plot twists are gonna be worth it even though the overall background isn’t that original because i’ve mixed up different elements from other games (aaaand we’re back in our oh-so-amazing comfort zone that covers up a massive lack of imagination)

ummm? the vampire diaries maybe? back when i was 10 or 11 lol

i didn’t write for many fandoms but back in my younger days i used to do self-insert fics with the vampire diaries cast and it was so odd and i wish i hadn’t just confessed that on my tumblr blog

PL and the shattering secrets! huge canon divergence and one heck of an AU (also its original version is much worse, my mind was going crazy when i was 15)

i love reading AUs, writing some requires solid imagination which i have not, but honestly i don’t really mind

yea i can’t write without listening to music - any playlist does the trick as long as i like what i’m listening to but usually i listen to sad soundtracks, or i’m inspired by some random lyrics

i’d go with challenges bc my horrible ass has very few ideas but i usually come up with independent ideas

i don’t remember ;_;

26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

i’ve got one OS in mind with randall/layton but i don’t want to be the talk of the town because it’s probably going to be awful? also any other fic including the PL3 crew

27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

@welcometogressenheller telling me she believed i was a native!!! i struggle so much trying to improve my writing style in english and i have a lot of insecurities so it was so heartwarming and incredible to read...

also basically any other comment where people tell me they like what i write. i love that writers feel the need to take some time reviewing my works bc i need constant validation

28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?

well i’ve never really received ‘harsh’ criticism or anything, save for some very rare remarks on my grammar so i guess i don’t know? at first it’s always sad to see that what i’ve done isn’t perfect but i guess it’s impossible to be perfect so i’m really happy that people take some time to underline what looks wrong to them

29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

currently trying to with shattering secrets and it’s actually a great way to improve!

30. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?

31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

i wish i could but it would perhaps be a huge spoiler so i don’t wanna say much about them...

i have 1) annabell sycamore, des’s wife, whose personality fits very much mine. she’s a playwright, spends lot of her time writing and acting in front of des AND WITH des. also she’s a very realistic person and some people usually tell her that she’s being too pessimistic

2) aurelia from the shattering secrets and on her i really cannot say much... if anyone’s read this far it would be so nice if you could give SS a shot by the way!!

32. Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.

desmond sometimes finds happiness but it’s always taken from him

33. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

i don’t translate my works from my original language to english, i write straight in english. i spend a lot of time making sure i haven’t done any grammatical mistakes, checking the definition and the use of some words i’m not sure about, and sometimes it’s quite a pain and it can be also very discouraging bc i end up believing what i write comes from a random internet dictionary while deep down i know it’s not true but hey what can i say. huge insecurities laid bare here.

(beware: spoilers for the whole prequel trilogy!!!)

“Hershel Layton was puzzled. A funny emotion to feel for someone who loved puzzles that much, but nothing could ever describe better the way he’d felt for hours now, hours that seemed like ages.So much did happen in the span of a few hours.

First he’d learned his parents could be targeted by Targent, then Aurora had made it clear that she didn’t want to live anymore, all so she could protect them. Then Desmond—no, Descole—had taken the key from her hands, and revealed himself as the dangerous scientist Layton knew him to be.

Then they’d fought. Despair was filling the air, though Hershel didn’t understand what Descole meant when he cried that the Azran legacy was all he had to live for.

And as if there hadn’t been enough betrayals as it was, Emmy was soon to follow. Luke had been abducted. He’d had no other choice than siding with Descole to prevent Bronev from unleashing doom on Earth. Misery didn’t seem to end.

I read your IzuOcha meta, and I loved it so much! It made so many good points! Now I’m wondering, since that meta was done a while back, have your opinions on the ship changed since then with the moments that came out afterwards, or are they more or less the same?

Ooh boy, Izuocha. I’m still conflicted over them TBH. They have some seriously sweet moments, but one of the overall problems I have with them is how one-sided their dynamic feels Post-Hero Killer arc. Before that, it felt like Ochako really was at least the third most important person in Deku’s life (after All Might and Kacchan, of course) but since then, their relationship has just stopped being important to Midoriya.

Just to run it down:

1. Hero Killer Arc: Once Izuku goes off to his internship, he doesn’t think about Ochako directly until she calls to ask about Iida.

2. Final Exams: In the Manga, Deku doesn’t talk to Ochako directly for this entire arc. He doesn’t react to her match at all - we hear his thoughts on MIneta’s match and not Ochako’s - and when they are about to hang out together at the mall, she leaves and he spares her no extra thoughts.

3. Training Camp: One scene where he worries about her injured arm and she’s one of the people he thinks of, but only in a crowd, and both feel flacidly unimpressive next to his “KACCHAAAAANNN” freakout feels.

4. Hideout Raid: Ochako says nothing to help him make the choice of whether or not to save Kacchan, or anything at all (in the manga) and he doesn’t think about her opinion except as it pertains to Bakugou. She clearly disagreed with him, but doesn’t voice it, so the two don’t talk about this potential conflict. There’s no one-on-one with them, Ochako just smooths over things with the crew and no resolution happens.

5. PLE arc: Deku ignores Ochako the whole time, excepting the one moment where he recognizes Toga is a fake. He could do that for anyone. He works with her, but he also works with Sero in the same scene. And he finds plenty of time to be inspired by Iida and Kacchan, worry about Todoroki and have his Big Life Altering fight with Kacchan in the same arc, so it’s not that he’s too busy with other shit.

6. Internship arc: Ochako is the only person Deku could actually talk to about his Eri angst, but he doesn’t. In the same scene where Tamaki and Nejire reach out to Mirio, and Kirishima and Aizawa help Deku deal with his angst, Ochako can only say his name. It’s Iida and Todoroki who help him deal with that emotional trauma, and they don’t even know what the problem is. Throughout the whole thing, they fight on seperate levels and Deku never thinks about or notices her.

7. Remedial arc: Ochako and Deku both have PTSD about the same thing (Nighteye’s death) which they blame themselves for. But they never confide in each other about it. Ochako confides in Aizawa and Tsu, Deku in Mirio, and Deku gets some consolation from Aoyama. But from Ochako, nothing.

8. School Festival: Deku is fighting his Villainous Counterpart, Gentle, who is inspired by his Love Interest, La Brava. A perfect opportunity for Deku to reflect on how his love interest, Uraraka, inspires him. Who does he think of? Mei, Jirou and Mina. He and Ochako only talk briefly in this arc when she lends him some tea.

9. Joint training Arc: Supposedly the big Izuocha arc. Two juicy opportunities for Deku’s relationship with her to be built up. First, Monoma could trash Deku’s friend/love interest to piss him off - classic shippy technique, make the hero lose control of his/her powers when the s/o is insulted, and this is the Izuocha arc, Ochako’s on Deku’s team. So who does Monoma insult? Kacchan. Second: Classy Avatar shippy situation where the LI plays on the connection she has with the hero to calm down his Out of control powers. And sure, Ochako hugs Deku. But this does nothing. It’s the emotional connection with Shinsou that helps break it for Deku (I know, the brainwashing. It still feels like the chapter sets you up for Izuocha and gives you Shindeku instead. And in the aftermath, it’s Shoto who asks about Deku’s powers, and Kacchan who he confides in.

10. Winter Intern arc: Ochako keeps Deku’s Christmas gift. He doesn’t keep and treasure hers. He mentions her briefly alongside Shinso to his mom then traipses off to OT3 shippy shenanigans with Kacchan and Shoto, confiding in, learning and growing along side them in ways Ochako has yet to approach. Whether it’s Shoto, the guy he destroyed his body to emotionally rescue, or Kacchan, the near soulmate level rival who knows him better than anyone, doesn’t matter. Deku feels more for them than he does for Ochako now.

11. Current Arc; Deku apologizes to Ochako and they fistbump, which is nice, but not remarkable. No more than went down between Deku and Iida in the Hero Killer Arc. Honestly, it’s a platonic gesture. A bro gesture. And despite being together during the raid for about two chapters, Deku and Kacchan immediately ditch her at the first sign of trouble to go chase down the plot.

So yeah, that was longer then I meant it to be. On Deku’s side, there’s been virtually nothing special to his feelings towards Ochako, especially compared to his interactions with the other members of the Wonder Trio and his various friends, since about Chapter 45. We’re on 280. That’s too long to wait to give the protagonist any real development in his feelings for his love interest for me to really be all that invested on Deku’s end anymore. In theory, I like the idea of Ochako’s cheerful, nice girl attitude helping Deku get through his stressful life, but that hasn’t happened. They honestly also seem too much like siblings to me now (doesn’t help that she has his same facial proportions and looks like his mom) to read as romantic. My remaining interest in them is mainly as a potential OT3 option with Kacchan, if the series ever gets around to developing Kacchan/Ochako’s relationship again, and as a fairly typical “boring Shonen main romantic subplot” against which more compelling dynamics can be contrasted.

I guess this is all a fancy way of saying that I’ve cooled on it now and find it fairly boring, and wish they could just be platonic friends again instead of constantly being put in our faces as they “don’t worry Deku’s not gay he’s got a girlfriend” dynamic they’ve basically turned into.

Thanks for the ask - I hope no Izuocha shippers take offense to this, it’s just my opinion and analysis so far. Things could change. The series could properly develop them again. If so I’ll revise my opinion. Adieu

alternatively, Joker and Beast in modern AU. Both of them and Jumbo are legally adults, but Doll, Dagger, Peter and Wendy (regardless of their real ages) are still children under institutionalization and up for adoption. In a hurt/comfort manner, big brothers fashion, Joker and Beast dealing with their fears and emotions of having their little siblings sent into foster care versus waiting a few more years to be of legal age and all of them live together in a new life, after .

Vincent and Diederich, canonverse, brotp kind of relationship but shipping/one sided pairing is not excluded. Crack/funny. Diederich is positively shocked that Vincent would go full drag to solve a murder case of some sort. And even more shoked to see how well it makes him look.

Undertaker and Othello, canonverse. A conversation, some form of interaction, hanging out, opposing views (nothing aggressive, both seem to be very curious and open to hear other opinions even if they don't change their own). Brotp interaction between the two back in Undertaker's Shinigami days. Anything, up to your imagination.

Sebastian and Ciel, shipping not intended. Preferrably canonverse. Sebastian thinking of how everyone else sees him as deeply caring for Ciel's wellbeing, which he does with only one intent in mind - seasoning Ciel's soul to add to the 'delicacy' level he desires. Ciel knows this, so even despite living together for three years, he knows Sebastian's 'worrying' and 'affection' are all feints. However, maybe after a particularly bad nightmare, or after Sebastian doing something kind out of apparently no reason, Ciel seems to genuinely be grateful. What are Sebastian's thoughts on this? Maybe something dark and manipulating, kind of in the league of his words in the Green Witch arc when he's burning the laboratory? Or the other way around? Your choice. What I meant with no shipping is because I would prefer if this 'affection' I mentioned wouldn't be taken by you as romantic.

Joker and Bravat Sky, canonverse AU, in which they came across each other when they were young. Bravat was a charlaton, fooling people with fake fortune readings, and they meet by: either Joker is one of the people he tries to do it; or Joker attempts to steal his money and an exchange unfolds.- “Sieglinde, modern AU, rocking Japanese street fashion” (I completely stole this suggestion from the reply post on the blog, is seemed so damn cool!)

Ciel & Astre. Either tender, or dark, whichever you prefer. If it's the later, a classical contrast image, in whichever fashion you prefer.

1. Your current OTP(s)/OT3(s)/OTX(s):

Tbh I’ve never really been one for shipping, I tend to enjoy stories themselves much more! That said I adore Eight/Charley (listen to Big Finish guys, they’re as canon as a Doctor/companion ship can get!!), and also Doctor/Clara! It actually took me a while to get around to Twelve/Clara because I just saw them as a really intense platonic friendship for a long time, but then I started reading romantic fic and the rest is history :)

2. A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind (bonus points: who was that person).

Probably Twelve/Clara. I don’t think anyone changed my mind, I just started reading shippy fic for them haha.

3. A pairing you used to love, but it all fell apart for you.

I wouldn’t say it all fell apart, but I just don’t care for Doctor/Rose anymore. It’s been a while since I’ve seen those eps and I remember I used to really ship them then (I think almost everyone does lol!), but as more time has passed and I’ve delved deeper into Doctor Who their relationship just isn’t as compelling to me anymore. (That said I have absolutely nothing against it, you’ll never see any ship hate on my blog!)

4. Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what?

Well, I made a few of those “distracted boyfriend” memes before, but none of them were very popular haha. Maybe I’ll make something funny soon :)

5. What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?

Probably Harry Potter, which I’ve loved since the first time I read it when I was nine!

6. Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it?

It was definitely Lyra/Will from the His Dark Materials books! I remember being so happy when they got together ^^ (and then having my heart broken at the end)

7. Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over Tumblr.

It’s not really a fandom but I only started watching Classic Who because of the things I saw on Tumblr haha. I wanted to understand all those memes!!

8. Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike).

River isn’t one of my favourite DW characters, but she can be really funny and sweet :)

9. Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

Agreeing with @amelias-sunflowers about less hatred of showrunners/eras... I respect all opinions and like, like what you like, but sometimes it’s just ridiculous. It would also be cool to see more people watching the classic series and/or getting into the EU! :D But I’m happy to say that overall the Doctor Who fandom is a pretty nice place (at least in my experience.)

10. Choose a song at random; which ship or character does it remind you of?

I don’t really listen to music, sorry! But I recently stumbled across this post where Paul McGann sings a song that really reminded me of Eight and Charley.

11. A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships.

For Doctor Who - I don’t really think I have any? There’s not much Eight/Charley content because they’re kind of obscure but people do ship it. But recently I was rewatching Frasier and found myself shipping Niles and Roz?? Judging by the fact there’s no works in the tag in AO3, I’m probably the only one :P

12. Your most scandalous headcanon for your current OTP(s)/OT3(s)/OTX(s).

I’m not really sure what to say here so how about I go on a little rant about how much I love Doctor Who?? It’s honestly one of my favourite things, there’s something amazing and astonishing l about the way it can keep reinventing itself practically forever and still be entertaining. It’s almost impossible to run out of content too because there’s the whole classic series, novels, comics, Big Finish. There’s a little corner of the show for everyone, and it can lead you to watching things barely even related to it, if at all (looking at you, Midsomer Murders episodes I watched for actors.) It’s just such an interesting and insane idea for a show, and the fact that it’s been going for so many years and will keep going in some form for many more makes me so happy :D

I think shipping (platonic or otherwise) is a very nice thing to be developed and I honestly like to write multi-para/novella style exactly because it’s the better way for me to see this happening. These interactions allow for me to expand on Aranea’s personality, headcanons and pretty much everything else. The variety of scenarios and verses resulting from this are also exciting!

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?: I’m very flexible with age gaps - maybe it’s because I’ve always had a thing for older men IRL, who knows. I’m not willing to bend the rules around consent age, though. I play my muse at her official age (30), so anyone much younger than 20 would hardly attract Aranea’s attention and anyone over 10/15 years her senior would most likely attract grandpa jokes only, so probably would stick to this range although chemistry can be an exception.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?: Hm, I think so. I mean, it’s not because someone roleplays a muse I’m interested in that it’ll click - and sometimes muses I never gave a second thought about could also become a ship. Chemistry is kind of fundamental both for the muses and the muns, so since I’m a fan of blabbering and plotting and overall talking about ships, it’s nice when I get to interact with the mun as well.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NSFW?: I’ll usually start to get things under a read-more if the actions become too suggestive or if clothes start to get discarded. I don’t personally mind posting it on tumblr and I’ve done it privately too, so I go with the other mun on this. I’ll usually have it tagged nsfw too.

WHO ARE OTHER MUSES YOU SHIP YOUR MUSE WITH?: While most of my threads are yet to get to any actual shippy moments (with one particular exception), I do have things developing with Ignis at @culinarystrategist and @sagefiredaggers (the nsfw exception). Also got something with Ravus at @heterochromiairiidum and hopefully with Gladio at @fxrtem. Oh, there’s surprisingly enough Drautos at @pridevowed. And I really want a Cor? Not that there’s anything happening yet, but I just think Cor and Aranea have potential during the 10 years of darkness. Apart from Ignis and Gladio (maybe Prompto), others are verse-dependent, such as Ravus and Drautos. Under normal circumstances and without any plotting, I doubt these would happen.

DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?: No. I don’t really require any previous communication regarding this and most of my awesome ships in the past were born completely by accident. Chemistry really is key, so as long as I feel things happening in a natural way and the mun does not oppose it, we can have it all. :D

HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP? I consider myself a shipper and the entire thing about enjoying it with someone else is fantastic (not to mention all the friends I made!) but this is not mandatory for me to enjoy something. Also, I view Aranea as a naturally flirty muse but that is a defense mechanism in my headcanons of her - she’ll taunt, tease and touch people, but doesn’t mean she’ll actually be after a one-night stand. Since I like for things to move nicely, I’ll not rush them.

ARE YOU MULTISHIP?: Yes! I honestly never considered going singleship but I suppose I could be multi-single ship if there was too big of a connection or AU involved.

ARE YOU SHIP OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS?: Not at all. There’s an extra motivation in it for me but it doesn’t prevent me from writing or developing things at all. The beauty of roleplaying is that a lot of unplanned stuff and chemistry just happens!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?: I think Ignis/Aranea is still my favorite, but I’m really curious about the odd choices outside of the Chocobros such as Cor, Ravus, Drautos and substantially any man who’s not afraid of one hell of a badass woman?

FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?: There’s a number of ways: ask me about it, plan with me, suggest the idea via a meme, just let it happen in a thread? There’s literally no formula but I do love to plot and think things ahead and roleplay them, so if you think there’s a chance for shipping in the future, I’m always game for working it out with you. I really enjoy the entire path until the destination so I’d rather not skip the building thing, unless we’re both striving for an AU or something different and pre-established relationships could work. I’m really that flexible!
