my favorite part about cs being a kid's show is that when characters get arrested the cops just stand there really menacingly because they can't point guns at anyone who isn't dexter wolfe

i love the next few episodes of player and shadowsan bonding/gaining trust with each other tho

i love when carmen gets pissed off about stuff

i also like seeing how on edge she is- flattening herself against the wall on the roof when a car goes by and stuff because she's trying to figure out how she's going to get them out of jail

I got an ask for Qrow Branwen so here it comes !

My fav ship(s) for the character

I think my favorite ships for Qrow are Cloqwork and Fair Game ! Cloqwork lacked screentime in terms of canon content of course, but I love the potential here. I also have a things for shipping the sad men together xD There are a lot of REALLY great Cloqwork fanfics out there and I love seeing people write about these two <3 It's in the details but I think there's something interesting here. With Qrow who is convinced to be a curse, who came from such a harsh background... And with Ozpin who is so convinced of humanity's inherent goodness and that anyone deserves a chance. At the same time they're both very complicated people who I think would interact in cool ways. Ozpin is wise but does have a mischievous streak that I think also helped in making them both get along. Qrow is much more perceptive than he appears and that's also good for dealing with someone as secretive as Ozpin.

Fair Game also had a very good start ! The relationship was admittedly a bit tilted toward Qrow's recovery in the show, but they were nice to see together. Clover was perceptive & caring as well as patient. All great qualities for a relationship with Qrow, who has a hard time breaking down his walls and a shot mental health. At the same time, Atlas is very professional, straight-to-the-point and I think Qrow is a real breath of fresh hair in that environment. He brings a different viewpoint to the table, he's very loyal & caring and it's clear that his sass amused Clover greatly. We didn't get to learn enough about him, but Clover's VA hinted that Clover's trust was a fragile thing and he wasn't a fan of showing vulnerability. Qrow, who gives everything he has in all his relationships, would have been a great balm for that uncertainty. So yeah !

My least favorite ship(s) for the character

There are, of course, any & all ships between Qrow & the kids or Qrow & Salem's team. But outside of these obvious "nope", I'll have to go with Jailbirds. This is COMPLETELY personal but I have a really hard time liking Robyn's character as of V7 end/V8 so I'm barely interested in her dynamic with Qrow. I did appreciate her talking down Qrow from revenge because he was only doing it for his own sake but... That's about it. I find her way too abrasive (hidden behind her shiny Robinhood looks). And whereas Clover (imo) was pretty good at getting Qrow to face his issus head-on & building him up, I feel like Robyn relies more on humour & deflection... Which is an art Qrow is already acquainted with, and not the best coping mechanism for him. Aaaand I just feel like she put Clover down several time in order to lift Qrow up. That, plus the queerbaiting controversy, plus her having indirectly participated to Clover's death... The ship makes me a bit uncomfortable.

My fav & least fav platonic relationship(s) for the character

My fav platonic relationship for Qrow is his bond with Ruby ! I really hope they bring it back because these two were GREAT together. Ruby's admiration was adorable. Qrow's nonchalent but clearly protective streak. They care about each other A LOT and I really loved them together. I hope they can have more moments together like back in V3-V4 or V6.

I'm not sure what my least liked platonic relationship would be. Saying Robyn again feels like beating on a dead horse but I don't really have a problem with any other ones. They're all, if not kind & good for him, at least interesting (like Raven)

My favorite thing about the character

The combination of his sassy/cynic personnality and how loyal & caring of a person he actually he is. Qrow is rough around the edges, leans easily into banter but he cares so damn much. He fit so easily next to Ruby's peppy enthusiasm in Vol 1-3, and then he was just an incredible badass and yet so damn vulnerable human in Vol 4-6. I liked that about him. How all the pieces fit together

My biggest criticism for the character

Well I have 2 things to say about that. First : V7C12 With Friends like these. What the fuck was this episode qkfazkfhkgh Qrow's brain was nerfed SO DAMN HARD, I was genuinely pissed while watching the episode. This was just a string of dumb decisions from everyone except Tyrian. But I digress -

In a more general sense, I'd say... putting Qrow in the sidelines. Him falling further into depression was a sound decision. It was interesting and fitting of his character imo. But I feel like they tied "Ruby having enough of his alcooholism" and "Ruby growing away from adults" in a way that kind of.... just put Qrow to the side and doesn't allow him to do much. In V6 finale, Qrow expresses understandable concerns about their plan to steal an airship, but instead of dealing with that Ruby's frustration with his cynicism is aired out and... the timing kind of makes the whole thing weird becaus Qrow isn't allowed to disagree with their plan ("we'll do it with you or without you") and then has to trust Ruby and let her go which AGAIN is a great moment in itself. But all that put together just like... rid Qrow of his function as a parental figure because Ruby is the leader now and he's just... kind of following along.

When was their writing at the peak according to me (ex : best season)

Okay for this one Q, I'll have to go with Vol 4 and Vol 6 for very different reasons. V4 was great because we really got to get to know Qrow. His complicated relationship with Raven. How BADASS his encounter with Tyrian was I freaking loved it. What his semblance and how it shaped his life. And it also let him be vulnerable through the poison & seeing Ruby repay his care was very nice.

Vol 6 for fleshing out, taking his issues & drinking more seriously. Showing more hopelesness and cynicism, and that he had a real drinking problem and he wasn't just a fun drunk. Plus the loss of faith in Oz showed how much Qrow needs stability and secure certainties to orbit around despite his nonchalant personnality. But I like it a bit less because it was the starting point of putting him on the side kind of.

A song I think fits them & why

Ship in a Bottle (Steffan Argus) ➸ A song about being alone in your fight, in the sense that your life is like a sail on the ocean and you are the only captain, the only one who can choose what to do with it. At the same time, there are several mentions of a "captain" as if the singer/Qrow adresses someone else. It's reminiscent of his relation with Ozpin or Clover : speaking of a deal, of being honest and sharing what's on your mind. Qrow thinks too much, he's scared and he sinks more & more as he delves into his cynicism (V6). Qrow cries, things get worse, the mention of the glass echoes his struggle with alcooholism. And the Scarewrow loses his brain, "lose touch with all the things that made [him] feel sane."

A headcanon to make up about them

Qrow didn't have the most normal childhood and because of that he had to learn a lot for Ruby & Yang. Notably, Qrow had absolutely 0 notion of what was an appropriate presents for young girls. As a result, he tended to simply bring back from his travels whatever shiny thing might have caught his attention. Could be a weird flower. Could be a pretty knife. Or even junk that his corvid brain latched upon.

Tai designed a look(Tm) that Qrow learned to recognize as "No, not appropriate." After a while, Yang learned to mimick it (but rather at random, she didn't really recognze what was appropriate and what wasn't). Ruby always liked his presents though.

What I would change about them if I was making a re-write

I CLEARLY would rewrite V7C12 so that Qrow & Clover keep their brains kzjhfkqhzk There were ways to reach the same conclusion without like... having a Qrow-Tyran team-up which was REALLY weird

I see 2 main possibilities to stick close to canon content - After the crash, Tyrian gets free but he keeps playing dead for a bit. Since there is no 3rd menace, Clover and Qrow's argument devolve into a fight as seen in canon. At one point, Clover manages to briefly disarm Qrow. They discuss for a bit, you can even put the exact same dialog as in the ep. Then Tyrian takes action, moving out of the shadows to kill Clover with Qrow's discarded weapon. Braincells saved. OR - Instead of having Qrow & Tyrian outright team up, Tyrian just... keeps instillating doubts in their mind. Qrow & Clover are temporarily allies in taking Tyrian down but because of this, they don't TRUST each other which cause missteps and make them less effective. At one point, Qrow tries to attack Tyrian who is behind Clover. But because neither Qrow nor Clover really have faith in the other at that moment (and because Tyrian is poisonning their mind), Clover automatically steps back or aside. He doesn't entirely trust Qrow. Because of this small hesitation, Qrow's attack fails. Tyrian manages to disarm him. Tyrian uses Qrow's weapon to kill Clover. There could even be some message here about the lack of Trust & letting Salem divide friends... something of that caliber in any case 🤔 It can even parallel V3 where Qrow did the same thing with Ironwood & Ironwood refused to stand aside even if he thought Qrow meant to attack him... Could lead somewhere ! Like, in V3 Qrow had faith that Ironwood wasn't to blame. Only Ironwood feared that Qrow blamed him, but Qrow knew & trusted that Ironwood wasn't to blame. In other words, Salem didn't divide them. Here, Qrow & Clover let Tyrian get into their head. And as a result Clover dies. "Together we stand, Divided we fall"

My guess for their MBTI/Enneagram

I'm still mulling on it right now but I think he might be some kind of ISTP 416. He has some weird 7ish behaviour but his need to orbit around someone/a goal, his relationship with Oz, how close he stuck to Tai & Summer sounds closer to 6 fix. He wants people to go home to. Certainty and security. His independance definitely is there but seems emphasized moreso out of necessity.

One aspect that I think would be nice to delve deeper into ? (optional)

I'm not sure mhmmm maybe his relationship with Summer ? It would be both cute & interesting. As well as finally giving us insight into who Summer was

Top 10 Things I’m Excited for in My Hero Academia Season 4 (& 5 I’m not)

SPOILERS AHOY.

Season 4 is now beginning properly! As a manga reader and a lover of the anime, I’ve been looking forward to it for a while, though with some trepidation - it’s not adapting my favorite portion of the manga, per se, so there are things I’m excited for, but also things I sit in dread of seeing. I figured I’d get all the expectations out in one list, so here it goes:

TOP 10: LOOKING FORWARD TO:

#10. RED RIOT UNBREAKABLE

Kirishima’s Ultimate Move made for a great and powerful scene in the manga; it looks plenty cool in manga form, but I’m really excited to see the movement of it animated - the way they animate his hardening quirk is already pretty cool, so watching it go all over him is just gonna be awesome.

Best Guess: Episode 4 or 5.

#9. FIGHTING FATE

This scene really makes me tear up a bit. All Might expressing his love for Midoriya-shonen and finally telling him just what he meant to him...I just...dayum, this one is gonna get to me.

Best Guess: Episode 3 or 4.

#8. MIRIO VS OVERHAUL

This one is great, not just as a super dynamic fight between two powerhouses, but just as much as a rather elagaic tragedy. The story of Mirio this season is gonna wreck people when they see how it all ends up. I actually cried reading this in the manga, so I know it’s gonna wreck me in the anime.

Best guess: No idea.

#7. THE #1 UA ROCK BAND (If we get to it)

Oh god I hope they get to this one. After all that angst we’re gonna need that joyful pick me up! Please, oh please, studio bones, please let Season 4 end on Eri’s dazzling smile and Jiro’s rock band. I don’t ask for much. Please just do this.

Best guess: The season finale I hope.

#6. "HEROES NEED TO CRY”

This is one of my favorite Todoroki/Tododeku moments of the series, and it’s so, so good. It’s a smaller moment, so probably a surprise to be this high on the list, but it’s a heartwarming one, so I’m really hoping it gets it’s fair treatment.

Best guess: Episode 6 or 7.

#5. TSUCHAKO BEYOND PLUS ULTRA

They may have screwed our girl squad out of being in most of the arc, but dammit they gave them one hell of a big moment to make up for it! This moment had better damn well get the full treatment in the anime: Detailed animation, heartfelt voice acting, You Say run, Plus ultra screamed at the top of their lungs, the works. I was fist-pumping this one in the manga, ya’ll.

Best guess: NO clue.

#4. KIRIMINA BACKSTORY

Given what this series was able to do with the Todoroki backstory, the Uraraka, Baku, etc Backstories, I have high hopes for this one. KiriMina had better get the full ST Origin works, is all I’m saying. The full on emotional soundtrack and dramatic voices and heartfelt performances. C’mon Bones!

Best Guess :Episode 10 maybe?

#3. NIGHTEYE’S DEATH (not in a good way)

Ugly crying. I mean I’m looking forward to the drama and story-telling effectiveness, not that I’m excited about seeing Nighteye die again, and this time in animation with voice acting. That’s gonna wreck me.

Best guess: No clue.

#2. SHOJO TODOROKI & THE BABYSITTERS SQUAD

Oh, TodoBaku. You may have left us for 40+ chapters, but you sure as hell ldid not disappoint when you finally returned. Never leave again, you RivalBros. Anyway, I actually do consider this arc the 2nd best moment this season will cover. I freaking love ever part of it, and seeing Shoujo Todoroki is gonna be worth getting through all of the draggy stuff the Internship Arc has to offer.

Best Guess: Episodes 17-20

Hon mentions: Everything the League of Villains does in every scene they’re in (too many to count), Animated Ryukyu, Deku meeting Eri

#1. 100% DEKU VS OVERHAUL

I’m pretty sure this was the entire reason this arc was written, just to get us to this moment. Not gonna complain, even. My bae is OP as fuck and I don’t care. Go Deku. Go beyond. I want to see that Absolute Madman moment crescendo into the absolute battiest thing my bae has ever done (so far).

Best guess: 15-16?

NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO:

#5. OVERHAUL’S MONOLOGUING

To be honest, Overhaul started out really cool to me, and then started to kinda drag on the story. He started as a clever villain, something different, and then just kinda became a bore. I’m not looking forward to how long some of those late monologues are going to take. I’m just hoping his fabulous English VA and that killer OST can save it.

#4. NIGHTEYE SASSING DEKU (probably next ep)

OH NO YOU DIDN’T JUST TRY AND CLAIM MY BEST BOY WAS INFERIOR YOU PRAYING MANTIS ASSHOLE. That was my first reaction, and I’m probably going to be similarly annoyed when it gets animated. I mean, I’m biased. Nobody bad-mouths Deku while I’m around (Except for Kacchan, I guess.)

#3. TEAM FATGUM VS PRECEPTS FIGHTS

OK so I felt like these fight scenes were a real drag on the Internship arc. I like Kiri, Tamaki and Fatgum just fine, but they just aren’t interesting enough - and neither are these D-tier villains - to carry the plot for nearly ten freaking chapters. I like Kiri’s backstory, but these drawn-out fight scenes just don’t interest me, and I’m in expectation of great boredom from them.

#2. TICKLE HELL

Yay we got this one out of the way nice and early! This was probably the weirdest scene in the entire manga, and I was seriously not looking forward to sitting through it again. Fortunately, it’s over now, and we can move on.

#1. MIA CLASS 1-A

But by far the thing I’m least looking forward to in Season 4 is how Class 1-A, except for the main 4, is basically gone for a really, excruciatingly long time. Leaving them behind for what feels like forever is gonna be absolute hell, especially after waiting a whole year. The season had better make it to the Culture Festival Arc, is all I can say.

Reaction notes on opm s2 dub: ep2

Back again watching it live on toonami with my mother. :) She’s seeing it for the first time so I gotta refrain from explaining spoiling too much for her, while I’m interested in both her reaction and any interesting localization differences.

First up is the impression on Garou’s debut. Listening to his voice more, he does sound younger (not as deep), but his va sounds like he’s really getting into it, so I like what I’m hearing. :D It’s pretty fun. He’s really nailing that cockiness and energy to his voice. He can be all smooth and charismatic one moment, to mocking and loud with anger/emphasis the next. Like when he says,‘the strong are strong!’ I think it works. And it’s not just the way he talks either, but his language. He says stuff like ‘come at me,‘ ‘cordially invited to a little slaughter party,’ (nice) and ‘spectacular debut, huh?’ Like, it has that teasing, taunting, self-absorbed feel, but also sounds a little sing-songy and theatrical too, cause he uses all these fancy eloquent words to make his points. (Yeah, he sounds ‘fancy’ is what most came to mind.) It actually makes him sound intelligent with a purpose (especially in contrast to how blasé and casual Saitama usually talks).

My mother was alarmed with the violence (her surprise when Blue Fire hit the wall in particular, not the arm), but when I asked her what she thought of Garou, she was all ‘that evil guy?’ Like she wasn’t sure, so I had to forcefully restrain myself say ‘m-maybe. 👀’ (Ayy, I did point out to her that he happened to take out a bunch of criminals in the room so...) When he showed back up after the credits vs Tank Top Vegetarian (she chuckles at the funny hero names), she remarked, ‘oh it’s the guy with the v-shaped hair! It’s Wolverine!’ And I just ajfkghkghkg, because Wolverine (esp the actor, Hugh Jackman) is one of her favorites, so I’m 👀👀👀 Oho yeah, next ep will be fun. 8D

Sonic vs Genos and Fubuki vs Saitama were the next major parts of the ep. (Before then, when Genos and Saitama were chilling in the apartment, I couldn’t resist pointing out the egg apron, cause I love it. X3) Genos speaks like he absolutely can’t stand Sonic, which is heh. :P Truly, his scoff when Sonic introduces himself as Saitama’s rival, ahhh. Like such insolence, you pest! Meanwhile, (20 min later, hah) Saitama meets Fubuki. ‘I’ve already got a vacuum cleaner’ ahaha. Fubuki’s voice is perfect by the way, self-assured and smooth as silk. Saitama on the other hand speaks so informally (another huge contrast to the earnest and formal Genos) using slang language like ‘what’s shakin?’ ‘noob’ ‘poser’ ‘I’m hype’ ‘come at me bro’ (in contrast to when Garou said that too, but without the ‘bro’). So yeah, even just from the way Saitama speaks like a Millennial his bored, causal attitude makes him stand out from the rest of the cast. My mom even said, ‘he’s so low key, like nnnnn,’ so heh.

Vs Fubuki, when Saitama gets all pissed and serious (‘show heroes some respect, poser’) his tone turns way more heroic and accusing with emphasis. His speech to her even had those parallels to what Garou talked about too, about being strong in particular, so that was nice to hear. My mom approves of Saitama’s viewpoint about ranks, but really dislikes (truly, she audibly scoffed many times) at Fubuki’s obsession with them. Ah, and of course, I’d hoped my mom wouldn’t comment on it, but she did for that one unnecessary shot anyway, with ‘boy, big boobs.’ (The only part of the ep I could do without, so hhhhh;;)

More amused reactions from my mom included laughing at the ‘you had lint in your hair’ bit, when Genos decided to blow up the whole area, at the menacing ‘come at me bro’ egg Saitama shot, and when Fubuki finally realized, ‘Such power. He’s not normal.’ :P

Afterwards, when Fubuki explained the reasons for her actions were because of her sister, my mom was still unimpressed (like ‘oh,’ but still another scoff at her). She just really disproves of that kinda rank obsessed mindset. It confused my mom why there was a need/system for any hero ranks at all, like ‘why do they have to fight each other for it all the time? Genos isn’t trying to surpass Saitama, so why can’t they all just be friends and work together?’ (I also had to explain how most characters, except for Genos and ah King for that matter, don’t know or believe Saitama’s strength either, so that’s why he gets confronted/challenged so often instead of respected.) But, seeing Fubuki express desire to join their little friend group eased my mom about her somewhat. :’D

Seeing the credits earned an immediate ‘that’s it?!’ reaction, ahaha. (These 30min snippets are too short for her!) Then during the after credits scene for Genos and Saitama’s hero names, ‘Demon Cyborg’ got an ‘ooooh’ from her, and I was especially glad to hear ‘Caped Baldy,’ buahaha we both laughed. (So relieved it wasn’t the bland/literal ‘Bald Cape’ from Viz, so the dub knows better.) Preview for next ep (the big ep3) only showed the Tank Toppers arriving and Vegetarian getting his face punched in, so nothing special spoiled there. But ohhh man I’m excited (I even told my mom it’s gonna be a good one), cause ep3′s definitely one of my favorites this season. Gonna be plenty more ‘Wolverine’ for my mom to look forward to next time too. ;D

Young Justice Outsiders finale

Ok, guys. Here’s the finale wrap up for Young Justice Outsiders! Massive spoilers under the cut, so read at your own risk.

Episode 24: Into the Breach

Ok, so this picks up just before M’gann’s teams infiltrate the Orphanage from Ep 23 Terminus. The Outsiders, minus Static (who’s been with Black Lightning), and Geo-Force, who was with M’gann’s team, infiltrate Building 16, a props department with no surveillance. Vic’s powers come in hand to get rid of the illusion and find the Apokoliptan tech, leading Granny to show up after putting the Outsiders in the X-Pit’s Ghost Dimension.

Gar and Granny fight, and since when can Gar turn into a Ma’ale’fak? We haven’t seen one of those since M’comm tried to fight M’gann back early on in the season. I know he can turn into things from other planets, like that weird bird thing from Rann, but this was new. I really enjoyed the fight, even yelling “GAR GET YOUR ASS UP!” several times.

Vic, while all this was going on and they were being tortured, worked his technomagic on Overlord and kicked it’s ass, breaking Granny’s hold on the Ghost Dimension and causing them to win the fight. After he and Beetle destroyed the tech he’d found earlier, he boom tubed to the Orphanage and found Violet and Granny, whose two selves (Granny Goodness and her “avatar” Gretchen Goode) fused back together. He blasted the control goggles off of Halo’s head, and y’all this is where it got good!

MY GIRL WENT SUPER SAIYAN! All of her auras, lookin’ like motherfucking Rainbow Brite before laying a hurt on Granny’s candy ass. She cleansed the Anti-Life Equation, freeing her friends before she, Vic, Superman, and Captain Atom blew up the device on the Orphanage. The reunion with Brion was sweet and I’m glad they’re together again, even though I know something bad is about to happen later on.

Connor and M’gann, however, aren’t so kosher. He’s still dealing with her hiding the Anti-Light from him, and who knows how they’re going to end up. I know a lot of people hate SuperMartian as a ship, but we already lost Spitfire and BluePulse isn’t going to happen, so can we please leave at least one ship intact?

Vic officially joined the Outsiders too! Cyborg is now officially born!

Episode 25: Overwhelmed

Ho, boy. Let’s start with the easy and get to the emotional stuff, because that’s where the meat of the episode is.

Connor and Forager go to Geranium City, a city created and inhabited by Genomorphs, the same ones that were under Cadmus’ control back in the early days. Forager’s trying to find his place on Earth since Mantis was arrested at the end of the last episode for helping Granny Goodness, and he’s torn between returning to his home world or staying on Earth. He and Connor have work to do regarding both of them coming to the light, so to speak.

Metron returned long enough to basically kidnap Vic and Violet, and unfortunately little Lian since she was in Violet’s arms at the time. Turns out, since they’re both “children” of MotherBox and FatherBox technology, they’re technically Metron’s grandchildren, which is something I never thought I’d hear. He warns them that they may be the key to stopping Darkseid’s plans if they don’t die in the process.

Gregor Markov is back. He’s with Brion and Tara in Beverly Hills, meeting his siblings in secret. The first time all of them have been together in years. Tara, however, has other plans and tells Deathstroke Gregor’s out of the country, allowing them to put their plan into action in Markovia, allowing their uncle, Baron Bedlam, to stage a coup and take over the country. It’s going to be interesting to see how they pull this off.

And now the emotional stuff. Artemis. After coming home and seeing Will had made dinner and set up candles and shit, the two talk before kissing. She breaks the kiss and apologizes, running off to her room and grabbing the picture of her and Wally and apologizing to it. She called Zatanna and meets with her, M’gann, and Rocket under the willow tree they met Dr. Fate under early on in the season. Zatanna casts some magic (or so we think) and Artemis goes into Limbo, seeing Wally.

She’s only got until sunrise, so she imagines their house, they’re engaged, she’s pregnant, and then ends up with a nameless baby. She knows it’s fake, because the tv in the mindscape has Zatanna saying she’s going to cast a spell to “raise the sun”, and then it turns to an episode of “Hello, Megan!” which should have been a clue as to what the hell was going on.

Wally tells her its time to wake up, step through the door and find someone to love again, saying she deserved a chance. “I already had my chance” fucking hurt. She walks through the door (all that’s left of the house after everything faded from around them) and comes back under the willow, and she walks off with the girls.

Rocket questions what happened, and Zatanna admits she cast a spell, but it was all M’gann’s doing. She created a mindscape in Artemis’ head that let her get the closure she needed to be able to move on after two years. The day Artemis finds out that her best friends did that to her, I can very easily see it blowing up in M’gann and Zatanna’s faces and Artemis either threatening her friends or just outright cutting them out of her life.

Violet got home with Lian who was sound asleep, and she tells Will it was “an average night” before going to lay Lian down. Artemis arrived a minute later, her and Will talking about the kiss and what happened, but they both agree it was wrong and felt wrong the moment it happened. They’re still in-laws, after all.

Side note: Can you please bring Wally back already? The Goode Goggles hallucination for Garfield in ep 12, Dick’s fever dream in ep 23, and now a fake limbo by M’gann in ep 25, I am tired of being teased about my boy. Bring him back or stop fucking with our emotions, you bastards. Seriously!

Episode 26: Nevermore

Other than sharing its name with my favorite Teen Titans episode, let’s dive into the big finish!

Three teams lead the charge into Markovia to deal with Baron Bedlam. Tara, Garfield, Victor, and Brion are one squad, M’gann leading El Dorado, Blue Beetle, Traci 13, Static, Wonder Girl, and a couple of others are a second, and Connor, Artemis, Dick, Forager, and Violet are the last. Connor’s squad faces off with Bedlam who takes off running, Count Vertigo coming in to keep the squad down.

Bedlam runs right into Gar’s team, and he’s confronted by his niece and nephew. Brion knocks him out of the window after Bedlam backhands Tara, and the two fight in the courtyard where it gets publicly broadcast. The fight goes either way, but Brion finally manages to get the upper hand on his uncle. Despite everyone telling him not to, Brion executes his uncle on international television! We find out later it’s the Ambassador using a low-level psychic ability to influence Brion’s actions, but the damage is done. Brion is now king of Markovia, estranged from his sister and broken up with Violet who is horrified at his actions. We see later the Ambassador is now a member of the Light, controlling Brion for a puppet government, along with Dr. Jace back in the picture looking happy to have her “Son” back. I honestly fear that Brion is going to be a season 4 antagonist.

I’m so glad to see that Tara’s not going to end up betraying everyone to Deathstroke and we’re not getting Judas Contract again. IT’s about time to do something new with her character, and where she is now is a good place to give her a new direction.

Nice to see Luthor getting what he deserves. Connor outing himself as a clone created by Luthor was a nice touch, and it’s good that Troia might be getting the big chair.

I’m glad SuperMartian is going to stay together. At least two of my ships continue to sail. I was so worried they were going to split for good at the end of Ep 24, and I’m happy to see them going to last.

Dick outing everything they did to the Team and the League was a nice way to end it. Everyone coming back together, and Black Lightning getting the League chair was great. Dude has had a shit run the entire season and it’s good to see him get a win.

A FUCKING LEGION OF SUPERHEROES RING IN THE END SHOT?! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!? Are we getting the Legion in season 4?! That would be so crash!! We almost got Slobo! And Lobo showing up and squashing his clone made from his severed finger was goddamn hilarious.

Overall, this was a great season. There were some slow parts, a few things that could have been expanded on and shortened, but all in all I loved it from the word go. I’m glad we got to see a handful of “one-off” characters in Spoiler, Arrowette, and Orphan, and I hope to see them get more screentime in Season 4. Loved all the new characters, Cyborg was great, Halo was my all time favorite, loved Forager, and up until the end of Ep 26, I enjoyed Brion.

Hats off the all of the voice actors this season, man. Stephanie Lemlin did so good as Artemis still struggling with Wally’s disappearance, and every time she talks about him, you feel the weight and emotion behind each word. Zehra Fazal, if you guys follow my twitter, you know how I feel about this woman. She voiced like a dozen characters, and she did such a damn good job in each scene she was in, and you felt the weight she was carrying trying to discover who and what she was. Zeno Robinson had some big shoes to fill as Cyborg, but MY GOD did the due kill it! From either of the spectrum, Zeno quickly rose up in the ranks of my favorite VA’s.

I’m sad to see the season end, but let’s look forward to Season 4!!

Best ep of the season thus far, Bert's monologue/transformation was amazing. Some fantastic VA work by Tomohisa and Inoue as well. CG CT also looked far better than I thought he would. These next few episodes are going to kill me. I can't wait.

The animation was pretty lacking in this episode. R&B’s running animation on the wall felt pretty lazy, there was that reused shot of the beast Titan’s throw from season 2, Bertholdt’s character design felt inconsistent as well as Zeke’s. They really need to get the old team back on the animation cause the current team clearly doesn’t know how to handle aot. It’s getting on my nerves.

The episode was absolutely awesome.

Am I the only one who get's goosebumps in the scene before he transformed himself into the colossalus titan and said: 'I feel like, no matter how this all plays out, I can accept whatever happens. That's right, nobody's in the wrong. There's nothing we could do. Because this world....is just...that cruel.' This scene was impressive back in the manga and I'm proud how good Tomohisa Hashizume nailed it. He's an amazing voice actor, especially for Bertholdt.

He learned some pretty vital things - how far the Warriors are willing to go, what their priorities are, what Bert's state of mind is, and where his loyalties truly lie. I don't imagine Armin went down that track solely because he thought it would have the exact same effect, but rather to 'check something' - exactly the same as Bertolt.

I think it not only was a good attempt to take (it worked before, why not try it again), but I also think it is incredibly important to show Armin's flaws. Yes, he's an amazing strategist. He's also still sixteen and not always entirely confident. Having Armin make mistakes like relying on old ploys that worked keeps his character more grounded and realistic

Smart people tend to use the same tactics over and over again as long as they're successful and for good reason. After all, why wouldn't you use the same tactic if you know it brings success? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's only when said strategy or tactic doesn't work where the individual would entertain the prospect of changing it or never using it again.

CGI doesn't bother me. What bothers me is how animators overly rely on it. Several decades ago animators made great masterpieces without cgi, all by hand. I understand using it because it makes things easier, but exceeding quality should still be top priority. If you can't make it better with CGI, then go old school and do it right.

44% don’t want to say either way whether Armin’s pre-titan behavior is indicative of the influence that Bertolt may or may not have over the Armin we know in the current manga. 39% believe that this is proof Eren’s words to Armin were total B.S., and 12% think this isn’t really proof of anything.

Armin Has always been the diplomat, while Eren is a man of force. Mikasa is in between. It has always been that way.

Past and future are influenced the same when paths are concerned so there's no way to tell.

Nope, that's have something to do with "character development", people change sometimes after time and grown more indepented and strong of their own shadow.

I always thought of it more as Bertie finally coming down on a side and the pair picking up on that. He was always so meek and indecisive, but now he's been forced to make a choice and to do it he has to shed his old skin and become more ruthless.

Not at all he ditched his guilt that made up the act they knew him for.

WHAT SCENE ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE PREVIEW? 307 Responses

Nearly 30% are looking forward to the moment that Levi gives Erwin his promise to kill the Beast Titan. The "predecessor's memory affecting current shifter" is, as far as I'm aware, just a theory that I don't buy into. I've only seen a person "changed" because of the Founding Titan's vow. Otherwise, the shifter's personality remains the same. Armin has always been an advocate for talking and negotiation. We see this in the Trost arc when the Garrison nearly kill Eren with that cannonball. So no, I don't think anyone's memories are "affecting" anyone, including current Eren.

Loved pretty much everything in this episode except for the CGI CT. Didn't expect to see uncensored Reiner, which was weird because Mikasa cutting off Bert's ear was more censored. And I'm a bit disappointed we didn't see more shots of Bert with his V fringe off his forehead. He looked so cool in the manga!

This episode gave me anxiety 'cause I know what we'll going to deal in the next three ones. The soundtrack gave intensity in every scene that its put on it, plus the fantastic job of the VA, perfect work. And just thinking about how the next episodes will be.... *goosebumps*

Wit studio handled the cgi very well imo. It's very difficult to animate this action heavy arca with rubble, smoke, odm scenes etc. and I think they are adapting the manga very well with the right pacing per episode which is also a challenge to fit within 20 minutes.

Bertolt is best boi and this episode was the best of all 3. He deserved to survive and mature up. Hashizume nailed him JUST RIGHT and his interactions with Reiner this episode were on point. The scene where he outsmarted Armin and countered Mikasa was worthy of applause.

After seeing this episode and Marco's death, it makes me sad that Reiner lost his pal Bertolt. They should be suffer bois together. Even still, some of the animation this episode was reallyy not great, so I rated the episode a 4.

Bertolt has proved on this episode that he's one of the best character of the series

I miss berthold so much and seeing him at his best was awesome but it’s really hard knowing what’s going to happen next

This is shaping up to be the best season of Attack On Titan. Cheers for more!

BNHA Rewatch: Season 1 Episode 11 “Game Over”

So first up, I totally forgot to add onto the You Say Run drinking game last episode! Sorry, my bad. I am ashamed.

Secondly, onwards! So we open with Deku, Mineta and Tsuyu headed off to where Aizawa is fighting off villains. Deku is quick to start muttering like crazy, which Tsuyu finds creepy (nobody seems to find Deku’s muttering charming or anything other than weird, oddly. Not even Uraraka).

Todoroki is showcased here, being very...cool. I’ll stop. (This is probably Shoto’s darkest scene, at least in terms of him being something of a jerk at the beginning. He implies he’ll just kill these villains with ice if they don’t give him info. EarlyRoki is very sinister.)

Now to the Momo-Kamijirou team. Cute Kamijirou flirting antics are really fun to rewatch. They have this great back-and-forth, bickering sexual tension thing going on and it just shows up whenever they hang out. Nothing dramatic, nothing over-the-top, but there’s always a little chemistry there.

I like this little fighting trio. They’re a particularly great combo.

And now, presenting, the Full frontal Alchemist, Momo Yaoyorozu! (that’s actually a joke from FMA’s manga. The locker room scene with Ed and Al, the manga notes “full frontal alchemist”. Also, Momo’s english VA=Riza Hawkeye!) I’ll bet including this will get this post flagged. Sigh. Anyway, despite the wardrobe malfunction it necessitates, this is indeed, in my opinion, the best, most OP quirk. All-purpose. Nearly unbeatable.

Meanwhile, Tomura being all analytical and clever and figuroug out how to fuck up Aizawa’s elbow. This is one of his Bad Guy counterpart to Deku aspects that I think is pretty neat - I mean, yeah they have similar circumstances, but being over-analytical hero otaku, now that’s a Not So Different I can work with.

Now over to more of Iida somehow still not having left and Uraraka being all “just go already!” Seriously Iida what took you so long?

Now over to Kirishima and Bakugou beating up some baddies. Kirishima makes a fantastic point that if they hadn’t jumped at Kurogiri everything would be fine. Bakugou is as bullheaded as ever (though actually proves himself smarter than thought later on. He’s kinda like Edward Elric - comes across as a hotheaded brawler, but is actually a genius. That’s 2 FMA comparisons. Can we get to 3?)

You’re probably wondering what my position is on Kiribaku, since it’s like the only BNHA Ship I haven’t really commented on yet. It’s basically one of the big ships that I honestly only see as friends. I don’t really get the shipping hype around them. Sorry.

Now on the other hand...these two need to be shipped more. Uraraka saving Iida from Kurogiri! This is one of Ochaco’s best moments, taking on the Big Bad/final boss and tossing him out of the way to save Iida’s life, and by extension, the rest of Class 1-A. Go Uravity!

More gruesome Aizawa injuries. Holy crap. The animation on this is so brutal. (nowhere near as brutal as some of the later injuries, especially that last arc. Dear god that’s gonna be...brutal seems too mild.)

Deku calls back to this bit where Tomura just quits and decides to peace out as soon as trouble comes. It’s interesting, thinking of Tomura’s progression, that Deku’s had the same effect on him that he has on Class 1-A (alongside Bakugou): raising the standard. Forcing everyone to try as hard as he does.

Apparently the Japanese fandom has a Tsu/Aizawa ship. While I’m obviously not into that, it did make me curious to take note of their interactions. She does seem to be particularly close to him, of the kids in Class A. (not that kind of creepy close, of course; just that she’s often the most concerned for him, and he saves her life specifically here.)

And Deku manages to control OFA! How powerful was that smash? How far was Deku able to go at this point, already, without getting hurt? I really want to figure out how Deku can potentially regulate OFA in the future, and this is the only moment where he pulls off a pretty impressive smash without being broken; this ain’t no 5%. Aside from ‘putting on the brakes’ to avoid killing someone, what else helped him here?

“Watashi ga kita!” (One day, Deku will storm in, and the reaction will be the same. Who am I kidding, he already does this all the time anyway.)

So this ep is a big set up from the previous one. The USJ Arc is not one of my favorites, but it does have a lot of great moments. It’s well-executed. It’s a fine place to end season 1. First time around, I remember feeling that it was kind of anticlimactic because my boy Deku didn’t get to do anything big, but of course this is just the end of season 1, so it’s all cool.

BKDK Corner:

They don’t talk this ep, but there are the usual parallels - like in the ep where Baku first displays his capacity to work with others, trust in his classmates, respect talents from those besides himself, we also see Deku first use OFA without breaking himself, on top of his leadership/powerhouse role in the fight against villains. Bakugou being the Power of Friendship gruff Shonen Hero and Deku being a confident OP badass.

Best Girl: No new best girls in this ep. (So far, they were: Mt. Lady, Inko, Uraraka, Recovery Girl, Jiro, Momo, Mina, Tooru, Reporter Lady, & Tsu)
