Angsty post canon concept:

When Allura dies what if the Altean magic she used on Shiro and Lance weakens and that's how ppl find out Lance also died?

Both Lance and Shiro start with symptoms they can ignore and ones doctors brush aside. They get told it's fatigue, they get told it's after effects from fighting In the war like they had for all that time. Neither realize it all starts after Alluras death.

Then they end up with things unexplainable. Things like extreme full body tremors, sudden extreme chills and are icy cold to the touch no matter the temperature. Their bodies ache in the ways they had in their deaths but neither man admits it out loud too afraid of what that might mean so neither is aware they aren't alone is this bizarre and sudden turn of events.

It's not until Lance collapses and is rushed to the Garrison hospital that they discovered it something more.

His body deteriorating from the inside out seen visibly from their newest high tech scans. Rotting, closing down, slowing or lacking proper function like his body has given up. Like his body is referring backwards to lack of life but no one knows why.

It's almost like its frying itself from the inside out, it's path crawling closer and closer to his heart with every passing day like bolts of electricity pulsing more and more upward.

Shiro is the first to realize what it means once Lance is finally giving the symptoms they'd had to pry out of him. He realizes with dread that his fellow paladin has things that match up too close to his own.

He only realizes bc he's felt similar things, only his resemble his own death and he knows for a fact its thinfs in Excruciating pain, a pain he thought no one but himself would ever understand.

To get lance to admit what happened Shiro goes through the scans himself to prove his point. No one enjoys hearing Lances story, Allura hadn't even known she was capable of what she'd done to him So he's worse off than Shiro is and terrified of the idea of dying again this slowly

both get taken to an off planet hospital, one that could preserve their symptoms until the rest of their team and families could find a way to heal them

But without Alluras alchemy No one knew what to do.

First they try talking to the alteans on new altea but none have any knowledge of the alchemy allura had used for them

Then the team spreads out

Pidge uses her ranking in her field to gain any and all database information she can get her hands on

Hunk uses his connections To the Balmera and other species to attempt to find any information on healing abilities that might help

Keith is the most successful, the man he loves and his brother are dying and he wouldn't accept that one bit

He sends all the Blades willing to look for any possible Leads and anyone who might know anything about healing magic or alchemy

Keith is the one who comes across one of haggars old druids, one well versed in altean alchemy and one bitter at what had become of the craft

She had understood, to a degree, what Allura had done to Save both men

She had tied their life force to her own to ground them back to this plane of existence and now that she's no longer tied to one universe her connection has faded and so has theirs

"You must tie them to another life to keep them but this practice is taboo. If this next life dies they will with it."

Keith doesn't hesitate for a moment "just tell me what to do and I'll do it."

He ends up tying Lances life force to his own, Lance so sickly he didn't get a choice and Keith apologizes the entire way

He combs fingers through lances thinned hair hoping it brought any comfort to the man that had no energy to even stay awake anymore "you can be as angry as you want after this, as long as you survive I don't care anymore..."

Shiros husband does the same for Shiro

They know it's worked when their bodies stop dying and start to finally try to heal.

The damage so extensive they both spend months in newly crafted healing pods that do everything to try to reverse it.

Both come out whole, alive and maybe a little worse for wear than before All this took place.

But no one cares so long as they stay alive.

And, if when Keith tells lance what he'd done to save him, Keith earns a strict slap to the face for his recklessness that's followed by a gentle kiss.

alright, so before a life of crime, the two of you were high school sweethearts. the talk of the school, everyone adored your relationship. voted most likely to stay together, the works. you worked like a support system; hobie having had to raise himself and needed more love than others, along with the hardships you may have faced during your upbringing. hobie originally had a really hard time letting himself be vulnerable around you, but he got used to it, letting you in to help him through what he needs to.

despite having great support, things were rough on him after high school. when he lost his job, the equipment he essentially invented for it made him turn to crime for a shot at protecting the innocent, especially you. you were essentially a victim to the terrible mistreatment of such a fascist country, being terribly poor while with hobie. with such a corrupt government, and tons of heros who defend it, it seemed to be up to him to fix it all. so, he took his inventing skills and became a villain, deeming himself 'the prowler'.

and he felt like he was protecting the people. stopping those bloody cops from hurting the innocent, or punishing officials who've done bad. he was a villain with a good cause, but not many saw it that way. they saw their beloved spider-man as the one who does the good, not some scary villain in a scary suit. essentially, the constant battle between the prowler and spider-man began.

hobie tried to keep his second life a secret from you, he really did. but the one day he was out, you managed to find his prowler suit and mask. along with that, all sorts of gadgets that seemed far too advanced for some regular civilian. upon confronting him about it, he admitted to everything. what he’s doing, who he is, and where he goes.

it’s.. tough at first. learning your high school sweetheart was a super villain isn’t the easiest piece of information to take hold of. but you stayed. you knew he was fighting for a good cause, so you kept him close to your heart. how could you not? hobie always wanted better for you, for the people, for himself. so you stuck your support, staying right by him through it all.

hobie can also find himself in a habit of stealing from large corporations. it’s his thing as the prowler. it would range from stealing food for the local shelter to stealing a nice knick-knack to gift to you. though you feel some guilt at first, it soon disappears upon remembering that these places won’t ever miss what hobie steals. they’ll just find something to replace it.

some things hobie does not do as the prowler (that normal villains tend to); hurt the innocent, steal from small businesses, cause commotion during charity events or rallies of protest, have an innocent be his “person on the inside”, kill like, anyone.

the most he would do to hurt anyone (which is government officials and fascist politicians), is beat ‘em up and give them a good talking to. he reminds them of who’s truly running this country, who’s actually the one feeding them their money, and that normal shuts them up. hobie hates the way they plead with him to not kill them, it honestly makes him laugh. he has the same reply every-time.

“you beg t’ not be offed, but kill ‘ur citizens everyday. think ‘bout it.”

even as the prowler, hobie always makes time for the things he loves. you, for one. he’s always taking you for a night in the city or to hang with his friends. dinner dates at home are a must for the week, he’ll never miss it. he eventually does propose to you, which consists of him just asking out of the blue in bed if you wanna get married. he gives you one of his rings and says, “boom, married. g’night, love.” yeah, you never got official documents. but who cares?

hobie’s other commitment lies with his band. never misses a show to play. he’s sticking with them, even as the prowler. he loves the high he gets from performing onstage for the people he fights for, listening to their enjoyment. he loves laughing with his band as they keep a high energy show going almost all night. and the best part? he sees you after his shows, warm smile on your face as you congratulate him (either verbally or with making out. your choice). he would never trade those nights for fighting as the prowler.

overall, hobie as the prowler is not like every other villain. he’s committed to doing good in the wrong way. and even when spider-man convinces him to find a different way to get his message, he never gives up. he retires his prowler costume in exchange for one that advocates loudly, leading protests and riots at the front lines. he had to admit, it was a lot more refreshing than being painted as an evil villain. plus, it help that you find this option much safer :). he’s content with life as the prowler, even after he retires the persona.

He was like the first one (maybe second??) that i came up with an idea for, and it was actually the redesigns that did it! i mentioned that he kept his more sculk-y eye and half of his face hidden bc it could freak ppl out and then also i realized that i'd kinda visualized him as a happy ray of sunshine all the time and it perfectly opened the door to! suppression. like if he's perfect beam of sunshine all the time then he's gotta be suppressing/hiding A Lot Of StuffTM, both physically (hiding as much of his warden influence as possible) and emotionally (only showing others his happiness), so i made his helsmet based off that! :V it's also kinda what firemite is afraid to be seen as i think, bc if he saw his helsmet all he would see is what about himself would scare ppl.

Tyratone was my second!! I'm pretty sure! she might've been first. but Tyr looks around at her friend group and sees that everyone else contributes- fire brings up resources from underground, aqua makes connections to other folks to keep them on good terms, and razor keeps the group protected from physical threats. She just.. has her little indoor farm. Collects crops every so often. Mostly keeps her cats alive. Messes around with firemite n tags along with razor to scout out sometmes. Like what does she even do. (She provides for the group but thinks it a task that any of them could do and that she's not really needed, even tho they do all rely on her to keep them going. Any of them *could* step into that role alongside what they do, it's simple enough, but they all appreciate having her around bc she's fun and enjoys simple things, and keeps the group together.) She thinks it only a matter of time before she's kicked out bc she's not really doing much, and so her helsmet is based around proving her worth through what she can do for other people!

Aqua took me a bit to fully realize; i had a vague idea for a while but it was toeing the line of similarity to tyr's and i didn't want repeats, so i sat and thought for a bit. in his original bio, i'd put that he kinda missed only having two ppl in the group, and that he thinks he's the leader but isn't. ok, so throwing these two things together, i can kinda figure that maybe he missed only having two people bc it meant that his opinions carried more weight, because it was only ever up against one other, instead of three others. he gets ideas of what he thinks is best and what he thinks they should do at any given time and the others tend to go with razor's ideas more than his, and it gets to him. he feels like they don't really listen to him at all, which they do and give consideration to his input, but he gets jealous and upset that razor's ideas are gone with more. so his hels is someone that constantly strives to be heard and to be listened to and to be viewed as important! i'm not actually sure if how i ended up implementing that works or not, but that's what i was able to come up with :V (the cane is just to look neat, and also it's netherite so heavy bonking stick as well should he need it sdklfj)

and then razor! razor. good night he gave me trouble. i wanted to draw him so badly and could not for the life of me figure out what his hels would be of. like i knew he'd be a fighter, but like. why would he exist in the first place?? i kinda thought about how i'd designed him and what personality traits i'd given him- he wears a lot of layers, most of his face is covered, long sleeves, it's a kinda closed-off wardrobe. and he's phlegmatic, so he goes with the flow a lot. maybe his thing is that he's doing what he can to keep the group safe, sure, but he also wants to try to stay a little closed-off, so that if he fails one day to keep them safe, it won't hurt as much and would be easier to move on. tossing around the idea that maybe that had happened with folks he was previously with- before he and fire met aqua and tyr, and maybe even before he met fire. not sure yet, (still not entirely certain on his hels concept at all tbh) but that's the fun of being in the middle of developing characters and their stories!! trying stuff out and seeing if it sticks!!

ANYWAY if u read all of that bLESS YOU ilysm these were really fun to figure out and make!!! also cannot believe i hecking. i did all these today, this afternoon/evening dslkfjsdkl i'm going to bed Extremely LateTM but it is worth it!!! i did it!!!! i'm so happy i love them sm qvq ty silver for writing such a cool hecking story that provides so so much inspiration and such a fun world to play around in, this was a fantastic exercise in character development for these four, who just existed as bullet points prior :V

I keep perfecting my Ivan and I think this isn’t his final form yet but here it goes:

- Religion: none, but he’s no staunch atheist. He was a firm atheist during USSR era but these days he just doesn’t have ‘God in his daily life’ even though he keeps some superstitions and is respectful and even compliant of some Orthodox traditions during certain holidays. Some of his superstitions he developed on his own even, since he was a really sensitive child. Basically he doesn’t really think about it and is just a cultural observer.

- Sexuality: he just doesn’t think about it. Technically bi so he can get on with anyone and he has, but he thinks it’s useless for someone as old as he is to scrutinize one’s own sexuality very seriously. If he likes someone he’s either going to get it on or he’ll just suffer in silence, shit about sexuality. Regarding his romantic/sexual experiences: not as few as people think, not as many as people think. Neither prude nor promiscuous, but I would say those experiences tend to be on the more scarce end. He is not without drive but also isn’t desperate; can go a long time without sex. Contrary to popular belief, the USSR wasn’t his harem and he had probably the least sex out of all (or being one of the least promiscuous there). If sexual experiences are already scarce, the people who have ever been his actual lovers are even more so he probably can count them on one hand. Why? He is actually a distrustful person with a lot of paranoia so he hardly ever lets people in, though I would say, what he is even remotely desperate of is love (not necessarily romance though that is also nice). Therefore once he gets a lover he can stay committed for a long time, at least mentally if not technically. Ivan does not forget people and keeps dear ones close to his heart, and probably people who dislike him even closer.

- Contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t look that miserable from outside. Or at least, if you think he is miserable enough he actually has more of that stuff kept inside. He contemplates his misery through books and pieces of literature he pores into, or when he’s being insomniac and contemplating shits. Other than that though, he doesn’t really show it; most other people cannot understand anyway, or will start misunderstanding stuff.

- For him, those who can still bemoan fate are both privileged and still doing well enough actually. But those who are at the brink of it? They suddenly just, go. Ivan might not see the light at the end of tunnel nine times out of ten but he has life, life, life to go through. Life goes on regardless even if you’re miserable; Ivan is a person like this.

- Accent: is capable of speaking accent-less English but keeps using Russian accent and even emphasizing stresses bc it scares people. Especially because he is so huge it throws people off.

- I once said he was ‘insane’. But I then wrote him in fanfics and he came off mostly eccentric instead, at least from the outside. Basically tho, he wouldn’t just go off right off the bat and hit people or anything; he can, and he will if provoked enough, but mostly it’s just threats which he doesn’t follow through either because he’s a slob, because he means it to be empty, or because it’s just fun. But if you speak to him it’ll be pretty apparent he has some loose screws in his head indeed, especially if you’re close. He kind of thinks it’s just ‘normal human state’ to be having some loose screws tho.

- Morbid sense of humor and downright demented at times. He thinks it’s normal but also will tell these kind of jokes a lot because it creeps people out and he knows it. He likes those reactions.

- Ivan is a man of many layers, and often ppl cannot determine whether what they see is the real Ivan or what he wants to show. That’s if they’re not close; those close to him will be able to hazard better guesses, but sometimes they’ll also miss terribly. Why’s that? No one knows. Ivan looks both like someone who overthinks things and not think at all at the same time. Maybe there’s no difference between these two!

- Part of the many layers is just protection: Ivan doesn’t trust you and he doesn’t even trust himself. It’s also the case tho that what ppl think of himself is often so much cooler than what he actually is and thus he just goes with that (tho sometimes he’s annoyed because hey it’s Too Different).

- Resident troll (if that’s what people wish). Will lie or hide stuff (if you deserve it). But often he’ll lie just because he can. Everyone lies, what’s the difference? Things are bad, but they’re the same bad everywhere else.

- Is both better and worse at things people accuse him of doing/being. But what is true is that he is a slob.

- Lets problems grow and procrastinates on solving them. When they kick him in the ass, he solves them badly and feels betrayed by fate.

- Is actually pretty generous. Just unreliable af at times (either from mismanagement, misremembering, prioritizing the wrong things… all kinds of things)

- Has both deep insecurities and deep pride. Funny that these things usually exist at the same time in people! He both wants to be like others (to fit in, to be accepted) and only being ‘himself’ because there’s no other way. Being himself, being different, because he is rejected anyway, what’s the catch?

- Will quote Russian poems or pieces of literature during situations that call for it (will refrain from mentioning specific poems here bc that says more abt me than abt Ivan Braginsky lmao)

- He’s not visibly excited about kids though will totally have his own if he could, maybe just one tho. Totally envies humans, including the fact that they’re able to permanently die.

so glad u asked… the fairy au ver of chrysijacks makes me want to gnaw my hand off because wdym they were acting like a married couple since age 13!!!!!!!!! they’ve wanted each other for so long but jacks never got the courage to ask chrysi out and she leaves him!!!!!!!

okay okay, anyway. basically chrysi had the ability to fly up until she turned 12. some other asshole kids were bullying her (and specifically lured jacks away so he couldn’t protect chrysi…) and a wild animal got involved, thought she was prey, and attacked. she escaped with her life, but not without getting one of her wings ripped off and the other crushed. chrysi wound up getting them fixed / reattached (partially out of vanity, but she was also a little girl scared of what jst happened to her…), but completely lost flight :(

jacks winds up stepping in and essentially lives at her home part time while he helps shuttle chrysi around ☹️ everyone with eyes can see that he loves her sososo much, but jacks vehemently denies it. castor eventually comes to the conclusion that if jacks doesn’t want chrysi, then he’ll flirt with her instead. this makes jacks so fucking jealous and it’s sad that he’s so lame abt it 😭

one thing leads to another, and.. mostly chrysi doesn’t like castor’s flirting, and castor steps it up to the point of putting chrysi in situations where she HAS to rely on him to get her out of them (i.e. taking chrysi to the forest floor, when he knows that she can’t fly away). he always promises jacks that he’ll look out for chrysi, but it still makes jacks anxious because !! that’s the girl he loves!!! and jacks knows what chrysi needs in terms of keeping her safe / what she can do on her own!! he’s had time to figure out the perfect balance for communicating with her and keeping her safe, but castor hasn’t, and it blows right up in castor’s face when chrysi winds up being captured by a human (hiiii, azure)

understandably, jacks is pissed off at castor—but most importantly, he’s so scared for chrysi that he’s abt to pass out. his best friend girlfriend…! he sets out to start searching for chrysi the MOMENT castor tells jacks what he accidentally did. (end of jacks and castor best friendship, i think..)

chrysi’s being kept safe by azure this whole time, btw. actually, she’s having a lot of fun? azure feels horrible that he accidentally kidnapped a fairy (he couldn’t tell when he put her in a jar because he wasn’t wearing his glasses 💀), so he’s making small obstacle courses and making tiny terrariums for chrysi to explore and stuff… they actually become rlly close friends here 😭 i 🖤 chryzure in all lifetimes. sorry jacks, ik this is abt ur relationship w chrysi, but. like. azure..

jacks DOES eventually find chrysi, but in his attempts to use his magic to save her, he, um. he accidentally turns azure into a fairy? or he shrunk him down accidentally, rather, and in doing so, he sacrificed his ability to fly 💀 so now there are three very small ppl in a human household and none of them can fly. great breakout attempt everyone, time to hit the showers…

castor eventually finds them, because he felt bad abt what happened to chrysi and was helping jacks in his attempts to find her. he’s the one who winds up returning them home (plus azure, who is VERY confused by everything going on).

there, chrysi and jacks agree that it’s best to pretend that azure’s a fairy they found who had his wings ripped off, and that jacks lost his ability to fly because of the, um, trauma that occurred while trying to save chrysi. everyone believes it, but it comes at the price of jacks’s reputation 💀

as time goes on, however, azure actually does start to grow wings? it’s super painful for him and he has no fucking clue why it’s happening!!! and jacks keeps going to various doctors in his attempts to regain his ability to fly, but he eventually gets the news that it’s likely he’ll never fly again. which.. he hates! he can’t walk everywhere, that’s a life worse than death!! <- says this to chrysi, who is extremely unsympathetic. chrysijacks get into a fight over this btw, because chrysi thinks it’s cruel that he would call her a charity case for all their years of friendship together.. mostly jacks said that because he’s bad at communication 😭 they’re horrible together.. i love them…

tbh, this doesn’t end well for chrysijacks, because they eventually piece together that the reason jacks can’t fly and why azure’s growing wings is because jacks’s abilities are being transferred to azure. so, in the end, they figure out a way to turn azure back into a human …. and chrysi asks to also be changed into a human, so she can be with him. and also because the human lifestyle appeals to her? and she breaks jacks’s heart…. sad end for jacks!!! sucks for him!!!!!!!! all that time together, and she leaves him….. :(((

Mitch earnestly sharing that his time with Matt genuinely inspired him to be more proactively caring and kind with his teammates and others (which i feel like mitch has very much lived up to!) what sweethearts, the both of them.

To your point - the fact that matt was brought into protect all the rookies but then saw little mitch and said "oop this one needs me a little more than the others" (even though, if you think about it, mitch was the only "local boy" who had his entire family aka "support system" nearby) and just lived up to that promise everyday

the genuine emotional bond between those two and how much rookie mitch seemed to depend on matt, trust in matt, thrive under matt's care?? it makes me want to legally change my name to fuckin icarus and buy some party city wings and fly into the sun! TBH!

and to your point about freddie and auston - yes! freddie and auston make me laugh bc they're clearly VERY close but seem like friends who see each other as peers. whereas freddie i think also babied mitch a little (freddie-mitch moments kill me bc freddie seems utterly baFFLED by everything mitch chooses to be), and well. matt and mitch were in their own little world, deeply mired in the most intense and undefinable codependent relationship.

anyway, tl;dr i truly hope they still stay in touch and are close because it would make me a bit sad if they lost each other entirely.

the pest’s tale (or: how my pro snape friend pulled the rug under me before I ever touched hp)

(this is just a short post describing my experiences w/ my heavily pro snape friend who I talk to irl bc its the funniest shit ever and I look back and still laugh at how absurd it is as a fellow snape fan)

so my introduction to hp is honestly weird because I bet most ppl read the books/watched the movies as they came out. or at least consumed SOME form of hp, but I was one of those rare few who had no idea wtf hp was about and had never touched it like, ever. like I knew who the kid in the glasses and the funky scar was, and I knew voldemort was some “he who shall not be named” villain, but I legitimately didn’t know jack. I also thought for the longest time that hermione was in ravenclaw and ron was in hufflepuff because based on what little I knew abt the series, it was the only thing that made sense

so moving on to the meaty part.

about a few years ago (2020 or so I believe? might be 2021), I was talking to a close friend of mine and she confessed her love of hp to me. really, she loved it, and she loved snape about just as much, if not more. so me, trusting my friend’s  ability to explain things in a non biased manner (which turned out to be nonexistent), I asked her what hp was about and what Snape is all about. the key notes of what she told me are:

- James Potter and the marauders were bullies who tormented Snape day in and day out (true)

- Lily and Snape were childhood friends who were close (also true)

- Lily betrayed Snape by choosing James and “she SHOULDN’T have done that, she’s AWFUL why would you date your best friend’s bully!!” (wait something seems wrong here)

- Harry Potter is a spoilt rotten child of James’ who acts like a brat (hold on a moment huh??)

- Harry Potter constantly gets himself into trouble, acts arrogant, acts like a bully like James and deserves everything coming his way (??????????)

I absolutely believed the WHOLE spiel she gave me (which if I’m being honest could be mistaken for a really bitter Snape’s recounting of events) until I asked my gf (who consumed hp) about it and she was like “wha-- no, no that’s not how it goes wtf” and I was completely SHOCKED at the fact that Harry Potter is not, in fact, a condescending twat of a child who bullies Snape

anyways now we’re here in 2023 and I really really really like snape. life is weird
