btw guys i keep seeing people accusing quackity of misgendering tilín and i thought i should set the record straight. in (i believe) his second stream with tilín he asked tilín if they were a niño or a niña (boy or girl, thought niño is both masculine and neutral because there is no official neutral word in spanish so it’s more like boy/child or girl) and tilín said niño. the fact that tilín later said to charlie that they use she like juana, and note they never said they were a girl or that they only used she, doesn’t mean that quackity was misgendering tilín, especially since quackity wasn’t there and wasn’t ever told that by tilín

as for quackity more generally saying son all the time for every egg, you have to remember that he’s been mostly streaming in spanish, and that swapping between languages, even languages you’re fluent in, can cause you to lose some nuance. i’m almost certain, based on the way he’s been using son as essentially equivalent to child, that he’s thinking of the word hijo (again grammatically masculine but socially masculine and neutral) and forgetting about the nuance of hijo vs son. this is not a slight on quackity at all, but his grammar in english has been slightly less accurate in his most recent streams (for example he said “unlegitimate husband” instead of illegitimate today) because again swapping between languages can cause you to lose nuance or remember all of the grammar correctly

all that to say, quackity isn’t intentionally misgendering any of the eggs and he absolutely isn’t misgendering tilín

I have a question I'm gently curious about. It's about this scene:

When it comes to this scene in ATSV: Many people defend Peter by saying he has a right to be scared of Miguel in that moment, and not defend Gwen.

I've mentioned in the past that I genuinely think - come to it - Peter B. could take Miguel in a fight, and even beat him, considering he has way more experience (20+ years) and abilities Miguel doesn't.

Plus that still doesn't address how he shows no urgency, or even mentions Gwen and Miles missing status to Mary Jane.

However one of the biggest justifications is that 'He had a right to be scared and not speak up, because he was holding MayDay.'

This has always intrigued me because of what it implies about Miguel.

Makes me wonder: Do most people believe Miguel is willing to attack someone holding a baby?

Do you truly believe that if Peter spoke up in this moment, that Miguel would do something to hurt MayDay?

Like we know what he did to Miles and Gwen.

But do you think Miguel would purposely do something to hurt MayDay had Peter - spoken up?

And just to bring to your attention: Miguel seems to be Peter's close friend, considering Peter was there when Miguel lost his own daughter.

In my opinion, MayDay's eagerness to go to Miguel in prior scenes, and her laughing at his exit, even after his display of violence - suggests to me that MayDay has never seen Miguel as a threat prior to this point.

With that said -

One thing I’ve never understood about a take-away people got from season 4 is that they assumed that mike “doesn’t care about Will anymore.”

It makes absolutely no sense to me because, and keep in mind I started volume 1 as a GA member while under the assumption that mike was straight, season 4 was actually what convinced me that Mike still cares about Will just as much as he did in seasons 1 and 2. At the time I had watched season 3 I was skeptical and thought that the writers might’ve just somehow completely forgotten about the core aspects of Mike’s character (I was also like, 14 when I first watched season 3 lmao), but season 4 drove it home for me that it wasn’t a character discrepancy, that something else was going on, and that was because it became so clear to me during that season that Mike still cared so much about Will, that he never stopped caring, which completely recontextualized his season 3 behavior and made me reconsider whether byler was actually one sided.

So how, how can people (and I’m not even talking about mlvn’s here, I’m talking about people who feel bad for Will and hate Mike bc they think he doesn’t care abt Will anymore) walk away from season 4 with the assumption that Mike doesn’t care anymore?? The main argument for this that I’ve heard when I ask people is that he “couldn’t even hug Will at the airport” and all I can think to say to that is so you agree? You agree that that’s weird as fuck??

I don’t know how many more times I can try to remind people that this is literally a written storyline and the characters aren’t just running around doing fuck all like they’re actual real people. Mike’s weird behavior is a choice being made by the writers and whether or not you think it’s a good one, you can’t look at it like its a randomized SIMS generation 😭

I’ve frankly stopped caring abt if people dislike Mike (tho I still thinks it’s rlly weird to violently hate him lmao), he’s a unique character and if you’re not willing to actively consider complexity in writing, or even just keep in mind that he’s 14, than you just simply won’t get him, but if one of the reasons to not like him is that he “doesn’t care about Will at all” then I honestly don’t know what to say. Like I really don’t, you must’ve been on your phone or something while watching season 4 bc you are making up a completely different character in your head.

It is canon that Mike cares about Will. Just because Mike didn’t outright say the exact phrase “I care about Will” verbatim doesn’t mean it’s not true?? To quote Dustin:

PSA: Auto-Shipping

Lately, I’ve found myself having to turn down a lot of requests for shipping due to partners wanting to jump into a ship with little development ic or ooc. So I thought I’d write up something about how to best develop a ship with me. Please note: all of this information is based on my personal understanding and preferences, not representative of the community as a whole.

What auto-shipping is: sending memes or requesting threads of a shippy nature without both muns agreeing that they want to explore a romantic ship between the two muses. Additionally, getting upset with a mun who says “no” or “let’s see how it goes”, blocking muns for not shipping, assuming that a mun ships a canon ship because they write a certain muse, or repeatedly sending ship memes that drastically accelerate the ship (for example moving from flirting to domestic or NSFW prompts) without discussion. All of these things pressure or take the choice away from muns and muses about who they want to ship with.

What auto-shipping is NOT: This can depend a bit more person to person... however, from my perspective, autoshipping is not; 

1. when muses flirt in character despite the muns not talking about the potential of the ship ooc. Having your muse flirt with another muse is a natural part of many dynamics and still gives the muse and mun leverage to decide if they are interested or not. 

2. discussing the possibility of a ship OOC; in fact, I’d say that most of my ship development takes place with those I have a comfortable OOC relationship with. I have friends who can just come to me and say, “who should we ship with this muse?” and I’m all in, because I know they would be respectful if I don’t want to ship that and they would find something I’d prefer to ship instead. 

3. asking someone either anon or not, what their canon ship preferences aew! I think this one is especially underused and underrecognized. If you wanna know whether someone ships something between two canon muses, just ask! If they say no or I wanna see how it goes, let them be about it. I have 100% had canon ships I wasn’t interested in until the right partner came along to bring it to life with me.

Now that we have a sense of what is and isn’t auto-shipping, what is the best way of establishing a ship with me?

I would say the first thing is writing a bit of the dynamic with me. A lot of people will come and ask if I see two characters getting together after a few replies. Even if I do eventually see them getting together, I might not feel comfortable admitting I see the potential early on because it takes away a lot of choices for how the relationship could develop. Wait until you have a few threads and/or several replies where flirting or potential romantic tension is present before approaching me.

The second piece of advice I have is expect a longer build up to the muses getting together--either in terms of the number of threads or replies. This is especially true of non-canon/canon ships. I love crossover and OC ships but they take more time to develop. There’s nothing wrong with that from my perspective because I prefer writing the phase where people are figuring out and admitting their feelings. If you look at my rules, you’ll see I don’t really enjoy domestic prompts or NSFW--I prefer the before the actual ship, ship. This can take many forms but I love a slow burn and I mean it when I say slow burn. I have one ship I’ve been writing for 5 years and in their main storyline, they still haven’t admitted to still having feelings for one another. Not all ships need to be like that but it shows what I mean when I say slow burn.

The third piece of advice is to chat with me about our replies and our muses’ reactions to them when they post. Sometimes this can help to accelerate a thread or identify a way it will play out based on the muses mindsets. It’s playful and pressure-free unlike asking someone to commit to a ship full on and it strengthens the OOC plotting and bond. 

Finally, if me or anyone else ships with someone else who plays a certain canon muse, that doesn’t mean they will ship with every muse of that canon character. Sometimes muns have different writing styles that may or may not mesh together; that’s ok, it’s not personal. Sometimes muns will have different hcs for their muse and their relationship to other characters in canon that will fit together better; that’s ok, it’s not personal. Sometimes, the mun will have worked hard to establish a few primary canon muses they write that ship with already and aren’t looking for another; that’s ok, it’s not personal. 

At the end of the day, this is rp and the mun should have final say in who they want to ship with. If you’re not having fun writing something, it’s not worth the effort. I hope this helps!

I really wonder how old Everret Ray from Bakugan is supposed to be? We know Everett is older than the AB, he has a device to use Bakugan. So I made a list of things that could indicate he’s a teen or an adult. I personally think Everett is a young adult, but I wonder what others think.

Teen:

He’s shorter than other adult characters

Shun and Lia have had jobs that are usually meant for adults, so if Everett is a teen, becoming a movie producer wouldn’t be impossible

Adult:

Adults trust Everett with serious things (like being a movie producer and a sponsor for a competition)

He shows a picture, where he seems to be hanging out with young adults

He called himself Mr Everett Ray, Mr usually indicates a man who is a professional

Everett tells Lia that Bakugan belongs to kids, which means he’s not considered a kid

reminder to all gifmakers that your work is always a unique, valuable contribution to the community. even if someone has already giffed that scene. even if you're not 100% happy with the coloring. even if it doesn't get many notes because sometimes people only look at the 'top' posts in the tags (which are usually just the first posts on the scene after an episode drops).

frankly, the culture of expecting gifs to be made within 15 minutes of an episode airing and only reblogging posts made within that timeframe is stressful and unsustainable for creators, and it prevents people from discovering and appreciating the wonderful diversity and abundance of work that can be found here.
