(I hc sometimes shang gets anxious when in he's in his old man form. When he's feeling the effects of aging. The fear of rot,decay,loss of vitality hurts him. And in these times he gets really awkward with his body. Its not out of vanity,its not even out of a weird body dysmorphia. It's just he hate feeling well... old. GOD HOWDY ANGST HITS ME SO HARD IT MAKES ME SOB UNCONTROLLABLY

I imagine once Howdy makes it to Eddie’s family’s place, he’s immediately accepted and they help him move into the guest bedroom

Howdy keeps up a calm act for most of the day, but later at night Eddie asks him if he’s actually okay and I think he just starts crying and pouring everything out

He tells Eddie about everything, about how he left, how he quit his part time job and bought a bus ticket in the middle of the night, how his little sister caught him packing but helped him leave even if it hurt her, and about how he has no idea what to do now

Eddie comforts him and starts crying too because strong emotions make him cry, they just cry and hug together

Eddie gets to understand Howdy, they’re best friends and he cares for him with all his heart

It has been a long time since I wrote on this I hope you like it. Me and a friend, @residentofevil , decided to a friendly competition for writing.

TW: mention of childhood trauma, no mention of the word 'reader', and crying.

You sat in the closet curled up, your head in your arms while they're wrapped around your legs. The darkness and silence embraced you, comforting you. You and Ethan were arguing about something that you couldn't even remember. At the climax of the fight he had said something hurtful. You didn't want the argument to escalate anymore than it had, so you ran to yours and Ethan's shared room to hide in the closet. 

That's where you are now, tears falling down as you try to keep quiet. You felt like a child again, hiding from your parents when you got in trouble, hidden away in your closet trying to stay quiet and unseen so you wouldn't upset them. You know Ethan would never hurt you; he never laid a single hand on you that wasn't gentle and loving.

Your face burned and was sticky from the tears after calming down, mind blank and face void of emotion. You tried to wipe the remaining tears away with your sweater but the coarse and scratchy fabric against your skin made you stop.

The closet door shook before opening. Your eyes, blinded from the sudden light, took a moment to adjust and there stood Ethan, in his black hoodie and jeans staring down at you. The sudden sight of him made you tear up again.

"I'm sorr-ry," your voice cracked from the sudden sob.

Ethan quickly went to your level, rubbing your back as he pulled you into a hug.

"There's nothing to be sorry about. I should be sorry." He whispers.

With tears still falling down your face, you put your face into the crook of his neck, every breath you took shaking.

"I'm sorry for the things I said." Ethan pulled away, looking you in the eyes as he put his hands on your cheeks wiping the tears away with his thumbs.

"I'm sorry I made you cry, love." The guilt Ethan feels is immeasurable, tears almost welling up. Ethan softly kisses your forehead making you slightly feel better. He stands up and pulls you along with him, holding onto your hand as both of you walk towards the kitchen, having you sit on one of the chairs.

Ethan starts making hot chocolate for both of you. The sound of the stove, the bubbling of the milk, and the hiccups you have created a comforting atmosphere that surrounded you and him. The feeling of warmth and safety and the smell of the hot chocolate filling the kitchen made you calm down slightly, stopping you from shuddering and hiccuping. 

All is well.
