talking to a person who is so soundly middle-class who talks to you as if you are also middle class is an experience.

I mean I technically am middle-class now because the government changed where they draw the line a few years ago so I've just made it in now. but also my whole family all together (me, mother, and siblings) probably doesn't even make a 4th of what hers does a year.

so hearing about my coworkers family is interesting but also frustrating. they have so much and she talks about it like it's less than what they want for themselves. like "we only saved up enough to buy a boat 5 years ago" while not recognizing that being able to consider a boat in a landlocked province where there's barely anywhere to use one is !!!.

they've got a summer cabin and they all have cars and her parents paid for her tuition and half her rent and they give her stuff all the time.

this is the first time in my life when I've had the luxury of making stupid purchases without saving for years to do it and she's just buying jewellery and expensive clothes and she doesn't save any of her paycheck because if she runs out of money her parents will help her. and I try to comfort myself about buying $300 on clothes from shein where I get many outfits and I feel bad about it but it's nothing on that.

I tried so hard to reach something that other people get just by being born.

funny how I told my dad the drama girls at school start online and he was like "oh yeah girls they. they shouldn't be online" and then I told him a very real and very upsetting story from my school that happened last year, this guy made a secret ig acc as a girl and got with his friend and after like a month of secretly 'dating' his friend he literally js showed his dick pics to the guy.
