So I’m still playing through Totk but very slowly, I’m super invested in taking my time and enjoying the scenery, same way I played BOTW. But I had an idea, as per usual. So know those poes you find in the depths? Know how poes in ocarina of Time are mean to you? I have two things on this

1. Since Wild had a near death experience (or just. A death experience would be more accurate) he can see poes and they don’t hurt him! So when visiting Times hyrule, the pies don’t attack him. They just vibe together. This leads to Shenanigans.

2. The poes are actually his fellow knights, or just in general people whom he knew in life before the calamity. That’s why you see those random ghost knights handing out weapons. Those are his coworkers! They speak to him, maybe vibe with him. Now, imagine: he’s in Times Hyrule getting attacked by Poe, and one of HIS Poe, (his Poe friends) come out and fight the other Poe for him, and maybe pass on a weapon afterwards. Angsty? Fluffy? Crack? So many options.

Aight, back into my little hole in the ground I go!

You stare out the forward viewport—the window. The sub��s only window. Blood splashes against the thick glass. It is human blood. It fills an ocean on Moon FZ-87. The atmosphere is dark and barren, speckled with the ghostly light of stars that have been gone for decades. This is the last view you have of anything above the blood ocean surface. Futility sinks roots into your ribs.

A/N: First things first, although this is an Iron Lung AU, I have taken some creative liberties to keep up the horror/atmosphere within a written medium and have included additional details to the sub as well as added events/objects within this story to make it a proper DCA AU rather than just a written account of the video game. I will also include my interpretations of the game and what I believe the lore is implying. This also includes the DCA as monstrous blood ocean mers and how they will play into the story.

Iron Lung is a video game and one I highly recommend watching a playthrough of or playing yourself. If you are unfamiliar with Iron Lung, you don't have to know of it in order to read this fic. I believe I wrote it so that anyone might enjoy it.

Please note the tags and content warning for this fic. It will be dark and heavy, including suicidal thoughts, psychological horror, reality-bending, and blood. It's an ocean of blood, I can't stress that enough. Chapter warnings will not include those tags I just listed as that will be consistent throughout the fic, but I will include chapter warnings for specific events such as drowning or injury.

Stealing/ Affection: Link steals some time with Mipha after his death, and before his spirit rejoins his body in the shrine of resurrection.

In the Wild Era,blood moons will still happen even without an active Ganon.Once a year,on the date of a hero's death.

There's a belief that if you're caught out in the open during the blood moon,you can offer some sweets to the ground and get lead to safety.

Many believe the "guide" that takes sweets is a ghost of a hero of hyrule.Some describe them(it?him?)as: a pale teen in well-worn travel gear,

clutching a silver sword with rubies that shine as brightly and unnaturally as the wound,

their eyes and magic around them.

It's unclear if the magic is fairy blessings or the binds of the ritual for Ganon's resurrection.

The wound is the heart ripped out in the ritual.never heals always bleeds.

The little flames are either the traveler burning themself with the last bits of magik or just the poe effect idk.

A hero's soul is supposed to reincarnate,not continue to haunt the living world.(has that ever stopped any of them?)
