kind of not even excited for TWP
I remember when I first was reading TSC and I was like omg nine books left to read and I can’t wait for TWP!!! and I’ve re read some (only twice of TMI and that was too much torture for me.) and honestly, there’s shit I hate in all of the books. I used to enjoy TID and then my eyes were opened up to how much Will was a dick and other characters were sidelined for him. Gabriel and Gideon deserved better. I also love the lightwoods a lot more so this post will focus on how much I love them 💓
I love TLH (I know 😭) but the miscommunication and the stuff we didn’t get because apparently we needed 400 pages of miscommunication just makes it feel off. I still love Thomas, Alastair, Christopher, and Matthew (and others) but reading is sooooo underwhelming because you’re like why do we need so much of James and Cordelia shit when we have Alastair and Thomas, and Matthew, plus Christopher??? why did we have to put up with this??? it could’ve been so much better and that’s why I’m high key bitter about it. and that’s how I feel about all her books. she has a decent concept and she could’ve turned it into something more grander but she didn’t ☹️
I swear majority of CC’s books, the side characters are always better but she never wants to focus on them. I’m tired of the Herondales, I’m tired of the misrepresentation, tired of the ignorance, toxic, incest, and gross relationships. I still stand by my statement about TLH- it would have been better if it was Alastair’s pov and didn’t focus on James and Cordelia drama plus the miscommunication. I swear it’s her go to when she needs some drama.
I’m only writing this because I saw that the titles for TWP came out and it’s the last fairy, prince of hell, and shadowhunter. as much as I’m not looking forward to her herondale, incest, miscommunicating, and disrespectful centered storylines- SHE BETTER NOT DESTROY ANY LIGHTWOODS, MAGNUS BANE OR ANY OF THR CHARACTERS I LIKE. get rid of jace and Janus for all I care but STOP KILLING LIGHTWOODS. and I doubt that she’ll improve her writing because she’s wrote 50 books and they’re all the same honestly. I for real don’t feel excitement for it. I know it’s going to be the last of them but she better not ruin it. I don’t know, this is just a dumb post and I’m feeling weird lmaooo

Not liking Cordelia when Alastair loves his sister to death and she loves him just as much which is obvious? Petty red flag
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA OKAY
Alr wanna play this game????
“that was so kind, Matthew” - Cordelia after Matthew literally used her to manipulate Alastair into seeing charles
“you must think I’m so terrible for still loving him” - after Matthew literally eavesdropped on a private convo between them and decided to trauma dump on her
Cordelia turning a blind eye when Matthew says anything about Alastair except that one time he accused Alastair of being a killer

Throughout Cast Long Shadows Matthew keeps complaining about Thomas defending Alastair but I would just like to remind him that Thomas spent the entirety of Nothing But Shadows doing the same for Matthew.
Tumblr media
Matthew literally insults everyone at the Academy from the beginning and literally doesn't have a single kind thing to say to or about anyone other than Christopher and Thomas, and that's apparently fine because he doesn't to be there, but when Alastair does it it's unforgivable?
Matthew insults the Academy and everyone in it so much that the teachers start calling in sick so they don't have to deal with him, and I'm supposed to like him? Listen, I get that he doesn't want to be there, I understand that and I understand his reasons for not wanting to be there, but that's not an excuse to be an asshole to people who've never done anything to him. And I'm not saying that what Alastair said and did was okay, but at least Alastair changes, he admits that he was wrong, he tries to do better. The things that Alastair says and does are never treated as okay by the narrative or by other characters. Everyone, including Alastair himself, admits that it was wrong. The same cannot be said for Matthew.
Also, Alastair became a bully so he wouldn't be bullied himself. Meanwhile it's clearly stated that everyone loves Matthew, no one was going to bully him. He's one of the most privileged people at the Academy to the point where no one other than Ragnor reprimands him for his behavior and he always gets away with everything he does until he blows up the south wing. He wasn't being a dick to protect himself like Alastair was.
Matthew is never punished by the narrative or other characters for what he's done, he never admits what he did and said at the Academy was wrong, he never changes.
Matthew is just as much of a bully as Alastair (actually even more of a bully since he's still bullying Alastair), but without any sort of acknowledgment of his actions.
All this is to say that the only way I'll accept a scene of Alastair apologizing to Matthew is if Matthew apologizes to Alastair as well.
(Oh and they are not allowed to be friends. Fuck that. Matthew spends years bullying Alastair and making his life hell way after they leave the Academy, he does not deserve to be his friend. They can be civil to each other because they'll always be in each other's lives thanks to the people they love, but they should not be friends.)

Thanks to my rambling this weekend, I am overflowing with love for an MMO that hasn’t been in development since 2012, because goddamn the worldbuilding for the setting of City of Heroes and City of Villains was just superb.
Do you want an MMO that begins as a pastiche of superhero comics that lovingly, cheekily engages with its source material, building up a cohesive world where the fantastical stuff feels unexpectedly real and grounded in the society, more so than most of the comics it's inspired by? Do you want that, and then to watch it slowly, gently tip its backstory into existential, cosmic horror via genre critique?
Tumblr media
I'm in no way kidding! More below the cut.
Well, part one of more, because there's a lot to unpack here.
A lot of new superhero continuities these days treats its central premise as an anomaly. For the most popular example, the MCU treats public knowledge of superheroes as something that started with Captain America in WWII. Before his exploits, the fantastical aspects of the setting were forgotten about and hidden from the world. The DCEU begins similarly with Wonder Woman in WWI, a member of a mythic society forgotten by time.
At first, Earth in City of Heroes seemed to go with a very similar premise, though it predates any of those movies: Superpowers were unknown to the general public until the early 1930s, when some people suddenly began gaining incredible new abilities, and mythical critters not seen since ancient times made themselves known.
But that’s just the basic sales pitch. As you dug into the setting and City of Villains expanded the lore, perspective shifted into something entertainingly stranger.
Everyone knew about Nemesis, the clockwork robot-making mastermind who'd terrorized Paragon City from the early 1930s, just when superheroes were first appearing on the scene. Turns out he was an immortal Prussian nobleman born who first went on an automaton-backed crime spree in 1820s, seemingly died when the British Navy bombarded his headquarters in Malta, then reappeared in the 1860s to supply the Confederate Army with mechanical cavalry until General Sherman shelled his mountaintop base on his march to North Carolina. Nobody was ever able to replicate what the did, and with his (apparent) death, he was no longer relevant after 1865. As of the 1930s, anyone who wasn’t a history buff had forgotten about him.
And sure, everyone knew there was an underground city of evil wizards, dead for long eons until they rose again to take human sacrifices from the surface world of Rhode Island (I’m still not over that). But actually, they were active in London during the Victorian mysticism craze, then moved their operations back to their homeland of subeterranean Rhode Island with the outbreak of World War I. They made the news across the continent. They got outlawed in multiple countries. They were a big deal, until the war took the attention off of them.
Hell, one of the people who fought all these weirdos was a random teenager who'd just... always been able to teleport and turn invisible, even prior to the '30s. He wasn't even a main character or anything! His parents knew, and tried to convince him to go get training. Teleportation training. Like y'do, with your socially awkward, teleporting kid.
This setting never actually had a mundane world that was unaware of the fantastical. The fantastical was normal. The arrival of superpowers in 1930 wasn’t a hard fork between history as we know it and theirs, or a reveal of some secret world that rational minds had long denied. It was just a dramatic escalation of what had already been happening, that everyone knew about. Armies of the 1800s had to develop anti-robot tactics. Alastair Crowley publicly dissed an actual wizard cult because they were dangerous competition. Parents worried over the mental health of their superpowered teens. That was normal.
The sheer numbers of fantastical events that started happening after 1930 were not normal. Or at least, not at first. People slowly adjusted over decades, as more and more young people grew up in a world that had always been that way.
What nobody realized at that point was how the new normal bordered on a state of cosmic horror.
And that’s where the setting really starts interrogating its inspirations.

A Rant About Grace + TLH's Narrative
One of the most interesting things about TLH is the way that the story treats morally gray characters. I think we can all agree that there are three gray-intended characters in the trilogy: Matthew Fairchild, Alastair Carstairs, and Grace Blackthorn.
Trauma + Moral Impurity
All three characters have obvious PTSD. This PTSD has only been explicitly labeled in the case of Alastair, as far as I am aware. (March 2020 St Louis Chain of Gold signing- I was there).
Cassie has also spoken of PTSD in Matthew and has talked of him as 'traumatized'/'having trauma' before, though I'm not sure the 'PTSD' label was ever explicitly used. Still, the intent is extremely obvious and I don't think one could make a reasonable argument to the contrary.
At any rate both Matthew and Alastair have their trauma directly and indirectly addressed in the narrative. Most of this trauma takes place before the books.
Grace has more on-page displays of becoming traumatized, especially throughout ChoI, but it is never really directly or indirectly addressed despite its on-page nature.
In all three cases, the characters do what they feel they need to in order to survive a world that has not been kind to them. The trauma (as well as mental illness in the case of Matthew) directly correlates to the moral impurity.
But the way that these characters are treated is wild. And the treatment of Grace is one of the few things I did not love about Chain of Thorns.
Matthew: A Case Study in Healing
Matthew is obviously a much-favored, much-loved character.
Not only does the author clearly adore him, but everyone else in the main cast has always loved him. He's family.
While he has his share of loud, obnoxious antis, most fans seem quite fond of him, and rightfully so! He's amazing, and he deserves it.
As of the end of Chain of Thorns, he no longer feels morally gray. However, he still feels like a real, morally impure human being in that way we all are, and this makes him an even better character.
These things lead to him getting a carefully-crafted open ending that will carry us into a novella serial centering around him. Very exciting.
Alastair: A Case Study in Forgiveness
Alastair is also very clearly loved by Cassie, and his storyline is crafted with a lot of care.
He also integrates with our main cast over time, and they come to love him. After a lot of hardship, he is now family.
Unlike Matthew, though, Cassie does seem to want readers to find Alastair at least somewhat morally gray up through the end of Chain of Gold. It also seems that she may want us to hold onto this idea in Chain of Iron, though it's difficult to view Alastair as "gray" at all then. At that point (and in ChoG too if I'm honest), he just seems like a normal dude that the main cast doesn't like.
Despite this, he appears to (totally rightfully) be the overwhelming fan favorite.
He is no longer "gray" by any stretch of the imagination in Chain of Thorns when he then enters his Romcom Era. However, like Matthew, he retains the feeling of a flesh-and-blood, impure, realistic person with reasonable flaws that do not make him unlikeable.
This is interesting to me because he, like Matthew, gets the perfect and wonderful ending that he deserves. In his case, it is a neat HEA, and he will be featured in future short stories and bonus content. Again, very exciting.
Grace: A Case Study in Sorrow
Grace's story is unlike either of these. For one thing, no one in the main cast likes her. This is VERY understandable in the cases of James, Matthew, and Cordelia.
It's also important to acknowledge that nothing Matthew or Alastair have done is anywhere near as bad as what Grace did.
But the common underlying factor is survival. All three characters did what they had to do to get by in a world that hurt them sorely.
Why is Grace afforded no sympathy at all?
The condemnation of Grace is foul in the cases of characters like Jesse and Lucie, and it's left me with a really sour taste in my mouth toward them. No one else in the group stands up for her besides Christopher, who promptly dies. Anyone else who might feel sympathy for her- I'm specifically thinking of Alastair, Thomas, and Ari- get virtually no page time with her. These potential dynamics are unexplored, and Grace is, too.
The narrative itself blatantly wants you to dislike her. This has been clear from Day 1. And this is even punctuated by the end of her story, when she:
Will clearly never integrate with this very tight-knit group (understandable, but she should have gone elsewhere to live)
Is sent off to live with people who genuinely don't like her
Is obviously not going to be featured in any future content
Grace cannot have a happy ending. This even manifests physically:
She had a scar on her cheek now, not from the battle at Westminster, but from a beaker that had exploded in the Fairchilds’ laboratory.
This is from the epilogue. Grace has long been valued for her physical features. Grace cannot have the one good thing about her ending- the fact that she has become Girl That Makes Things Go Boom- without being punished even for that.
It also does not elude me that Grace is the only character whose life we get 0 look at in the epilogue. Every other character has a little bit where we can check in with them, see how they're doing, and be happy for them because they got the lovely ending that most of them deserved.
Is there a reason for this?
I'm not sure. I think one possibility is that Cassie struggles with morally gray characters in general, though she is getting better at it.
Matthew was likely not initially intended as morally gray but simply as a complex character. Cassie was VERY successful here. Part of being a complex character is moral impurity, because humans are morally impure. It was an outcome.
Alastair, who was clearly intended as morally gray, comes off more as a generally good guy who has made morally impure mistakes that the main cast has unresolved beef with.
In the end, though, I think we can all agree that Matthew and Alastair are good people, and they are treated as good people in the narrative. Their suffering is dealt with carefully. Their personalities are interesting, consistent, and well-handled.
We see a couple of other oddly-managed morally gray characters in TSC, Julian Blackthorn being the prime example. At the end, the narrative erased his complexities in favor of making him a Nice Pancake Dad.
Jessamine Lovelace, who died a horrible death, also comes to mind. I think Grace's story is more along the lines of hers. They make their mistakes, and while not evil, they are punished sorely.
This also very likely ties into the fact that TSC has far more well-written male characters than female ones. The only girls that I think are objectively as well-developed as other men in the saga are Tessa and Grace, who once again was treated terribly in the end. (I also want to say that I understand this and can't really blame Cassie. Writing women is much harder than writing men solely because there are so few examples of well-written women in literature to emulate. Big systemic issue, not Cassie's fault).
Another possibility is that Cassie does not view Grace as morally gray but instead believes her to be a villain-type character. I would buy this, but then why have all the flashbacks in ChoI?
Conclusion
I'm not sure why I typed this up, and I'm not sure why I'm posting it. I think I want to say that it's insane to me how badly Grace's character was botched. I'm not just saying that Grace deserved better as a human being, though she did. I'm saying that the author created and developed a great character but became so obsessed with punishing her in the narrative that the development in canon fell flat.
Grace Blackthorn deserved better.
Tagging @pansexual-lilychen because she unwittingly inspired my rant. Also tagging @belle-keys for science.

David Tennant's Early Work: the short film 'Bite'
My normal David Tennant thread heads in a new direction: to one of his rare first performances on film as opposed to TV and theatre: the short film Bite. I've got personal history with this short, so it's dear to my heart.
Bite is one of DT's long-lost gems. Most of his fans know it exists, but few have seen it. It was produced by Su Bainbridge and written by Andrea Gibb, who DT fans may recognize as the author of the brilliant DT audio Sunburst Finish. Paddy Cunneen, who also wrote the music for The Pillowman, was its musical composer. Directed by Brian Ross and with a running time of 6:58, Bite was produced on 16mm film and screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1997. It was broadcast in Nov 1997 as part of an STV arts program called Don’t Look Down.
But what is Bite about? "Bite is a film about Alistair Galbraith, a passive postman who tires of being a spectator in his own life and decides to take control. When Alistair’s wife, Alison, commits adultery on their wedding day and shortly afterwards he is savaged by a ferocious dog, Alistair hits rock bottom, unable to cope with even the most undemanding of life’s tasks. From the depths of despair, he is galvanized into action and in true anti-hero style sets out to take revenge on those who have wronged him. Through taking this action, he is re-born."
David played Alastair Galbraith and his wife, Alison, was played by Sharon Small, who recently reunited with David onstage in the play, Good.
At this juncture everyone usually asks, "Can I see it?" Yep! You can reserve a viewing time if you're close to the Moving Image Archive in Glasgow, as a copy is held for private and research viewing only. And I'm pretty sure it's available, either directly or indirectly, because of me!
But before I get into that (it's the personal aspect I talked about earlier) here’s a bit of Bite you can see. The film's editor, Gary Scott, has a :44 extract of the film online right here!
ALSO - SPOILER ALERT - If you're interested in a blow-by-blow spoilery summation of 'Bite' because you can't visit Glasgow to see the short, here's a detailed plot summation.
Tumblr media
And now: how I wheedled it so Bite became available to view.
When I discovered back in 2014 that a copy of Bite was archived at the Scottish Screen Archive (now the Moving Image Archive) but not available - while his earlier short film SPACES was? - it made me wonder why, so I made inquiries at the archive to see why. It turned out SPACES had a viewable copy, but the copy of Bite in the archive was still on 16mm.
Now, this would've stopped any ordinary human being.
I am not an ordinary human being.
I was not a professional archivist then but I am now. The decision to become one this late in my life is partially due to my love of knowledge, organization and research, but also to my experiences since becoming - basically - an archivist and researcher with regards to DT's body of work. These things combined makes me rather dogged when there’s something I wish to attain.
I learned Bite was on 16mm and they couldn't make a viewing copy. Why? Because it was in copyright. And even funnier? They didn't know who held the rights! But I thought it should be available, so - even though I'm in the US and everyone else was in the UK - I decided to try and make that happen.
Archive personnel suggested I ask Creative Scotland about the rights, who suggested I ask the film’s production company. I was told it was rumored they had a VHS/beta copy of the film. I contacted each and every one of them to find out if this was true.
After months of back-and-forth emailing with the production company and soldiering on even through staffing rotations and I had to retell my entire story of the hunt again and again, I was still in a state of limbo. Finally the production company said they for sure did not have a copy of it but they could begin to negotiate with the National Library of Scotland for one. A few months later they learned they'd be able to procure a copy, but it would cost them X amount for a post-production company to digitize the 16mm, etc., etc.
Progress, right? Frankly, it felt like a scene in a comedy, as each thread in this chain of people needed to make their own copy in this format by this company for this archive or that person or...you get the gist. And no one could tell me if it would actually get done. So I kept reaching out. To make a ridiculously long story short, one full YEAR afterwards, the archive finally managed to obtain a copy that was viewable for others to view onsite!
That was a reward in and of itself. An obscure piece of David's body of work had been pulled from its original 16mm - where it might have languished forever - and preserved on a format available to us today. But I got a few tangible rewards, too. One, an email from the production company's owner that made me laugh harder than I'd laughed for a while: "Feck my old tin boots! I’ve just looked at who we cast in that film!"
Yes, sir. You DID cast David Tennant! Indeed you did!
And two, my very own copy of Bite (which, of course, I had to sign my life away for!) I got permission to release some screen shots, but that was it. And while it felt like an acknowledgement, I'm really just pleased we rescued it.
Tumblr media
I took my copy to a convention DT was attending, and when I laid it down, he immediately looked up at me. "How - and where - did you get THAT?"
I laughed. "Persistence?"
He laughed and shook his head. "I hadn't thought of that one in a while. I remember that dog."
"You were a great postman."
And he was.
Lastly, I thought I should post some new screenshots. Sorry they're not great quality, but neither is my copy.

hi, so sorry its been so long, but i finally got the inspiration to continue writing this little mini series. i'm not convinced anyone is still interested in this story, but here's part 4. there's a little hatred towards blondes in this chapter - guys i actually love blonde hair i think its gorgeous - your girl is just a demon. my search history after writing this chapter, god help me.
this takes place loosely around season 10 and i kind of combined when sam tries to cure crowley with when he cures dean.
let me tell you, writing about a person who has no idea what's real is not easy to make good - its a 0/10 for me and i'm not convinced i even succeeded at that
italics = inner thoughts/memories

Adriadne vaguely remembered hating the moon coming up when she was human. For some reason, she detested nighttime and all that came with it. She had wanted to believe she wasn't as bad as the humans when she was one. But as she roamed the street of whatever bumblefuck town she was in, she remembered staring blankly at a street lamp once.
It was the only light she had seen for several miles. It illuminated a small bus stop with a bench and a pay phone attached to it. She was in some loud car, with even louder music playing, with her intolerably quiet family. The faces, names, and details of any of them had been long washed away. Somebody in her family needed to make a call, so they stopped, and she was left alone for a few minutes. The yellow beams that kept that area lit were the only thing keeping her from panicking. She had assumed she was only a child in the memory because, I mean, seriously? An adult scared of the dark?
If she had been an adult, Satan help her if she was, it would have been further proof of how weak humans are. Actually, regardless, it was proof. There was no light in Hell. Everything was dark, and only with the sight of a demon could anyone see. She bristled at the thought. Since being on Earth, she had no desire to go back downstairs.
The darkness of the night did give her a little sense of reminiscence, though. Of home, Alastair, Crowley, her tools. Where she could roam freely without having to cling to that damn sack of flesh. But the daytime was a close second, in her opinion. The sun, as bright and almost blinding as it was, was warm. And it felt…kind of nice.
Turned out, she was a natural blonde, a type of blonde that got even lighter when she lay in the sun. And that rubbed her the wrong way. Like, who was actually blonde nowadays? Every blonde Alastair assigned to her was quickly scalped. And when they were healed, she would do it again. Then, she'd make them drink anti-freeze because many of them had blue eyes. It really had been a fun game.
Watching them die slowly and painfully was always an excellent way to waste an hour. And when they were brought back to life, it was back to her regularly scheduled programming.
It sucked even more that she had blue eyes too. They were so light. Like the human fucking sky or some shit. She liked her black eyes. They were who she was, a dark and malevolent visitor on this planet of fluffy little bunnies.
At the sound of a whistle, a very loud one, she turned to find the source. "Damn, baby." The man said. He was some random guy on the corner of the street, watching her as she walked. "What's your name?"
She planted a demure little smile like she was so flattered by the attention. With a blush, she said, "Mary."
He smirked. "Are you a virgin, too?"
Imbecile, she groaned inside her head. She had heard that joke back home. It was usually the first thing a demon said when assigned someone with that name. After hearing it for the first time, she chuckled. The second time, she grinned. The fifty-seventh? She ignored it.
Come up with something new, people, will you?
She flashed some doe eyes at him and pretended to blush even more. "How did you know?"
"I tend to sense these things."
"Oh, do you?" She asked with a grin, flashing her natural eyes at him. But before he could scream, she was slitting his throat.
When the jugular veins are severed, there is a relatively low spray of dark red blood, accompanied by the sound of escaping air, and the human coughs it up. So, to get a forceful spray of bright red, Adriadne's favorite, she cuts the carotid. And usually aims to sever the trachea so they gasp and wither at her feet. And with this guy? She hit the nail on the head.
It only takes a few minutes, but it's such a satisfying death. Being in the land of the living, slitting throats quickly became one of her favorite forms of sending them exactly where they belonged.
Tumblr media
When Sam and Dean Winchester caught wind of a case; six hundred sixty-four bodies across the country with a slit throat and the Latin symbol for "hellhound" carved over their right eyebrow, they got on it. They didn't want to let it get to that magic number.
And when they got to the most recent crime scene, Lena Franklin, a thirty-one-year-old female - mother of three - with the same injuries, they found who they were looking for, taking another victim. Only they weren't expecting to find their sister standing over the body.
After knocking her out and locking her up, they summoned Crowley as soon as possible. It was like their lives depended on it, or really, it was their sister's life that they were worried about.
And when he explained the situation to them, they knew what they had to do.
Tumblr media
With a whine, Adriadne awoke in a strange room. Filled with walls of file cabinets and Enochian or Latin symbols. She tried to rub at her head, where that damn vase had been thrown at her, but she noticed she was chained down. Usually, she wouldn't have an issue with chains; she could break through steel, and they were so satisfying when some human tried to escape them. But not only were these not steel chains, they were iron. And they had warding signs carved in them.
Fucking hunters.
Surprisingly, if there was any human she didn't entirely detest, it was hunters. They were more robust than the rest and really knew what the real world was like. But they were after her, so now, they had to die. Slowly, bloody, painfully.
"Welcome back, jackass," A voice she recognized said. The same voice threw the vase at her however many hours ago. It was the shorter of the two, but he had the more resounding voice. They were tall for humans, but the other was way bigger. Gigantor also seemed like he was friendlier, the dumbass.
She had heard of the Winchester brothers in Hell. Sam and Dean, she believed their names were. Two brooding brothers with mommy and daddy issues that jumpstarted the apocalypse. Then they fixed it and sent Lucifer back into his cage with Michael. They'd been in and out of hell themselves a few times. The only humans to ever accomplish such feats.
Clearly, they weren't stupid, but goddamn, were they annoying.
Sam was younger but a bit more book-smart, and Dean was the older but sarcastic one. She vaguely knew they had a thing for dying for each other, but that only made her roll her eyes like she so often did at these creatures.
"Dean," Sam scolded.
"And what a warm one at that. You ever have people over?" She groaned. The boys didn't respond, both just shaking their heads. They started pulling stuff out of a cooler, and she read what it said on it with a scoff. "Human blood? You're seriously gonna try and cure me?"
"Yep," Dean deadpanned.
"Oh, please," Adriadne drawled as her head fell back on her shoulders. "Spare me."
"You're a demon, Mo," The youngest said, like it was the worst thing in the world she could be. "We're not just gonna leave you like this."
"Mo? Who the hell is Mo?"
"Morgan," Dean explained, his voice monotone but somehow angry at the same time. "Our sister. The human that you used to be. So we're doing what we should'a done years ago. And saving you. Even if it is from yourself."
"Your sister?"
"Yeah," Sam quipped, annoyed. "Crowley said you wouldn't remember."
"Crowley's the one that-"
"We know," Dean said. "Just shut up."
I didn't even know the Winchesters had a sister, Adriadne thought. But to hell if she wanted to become a damn human. Why would she even consider it? "Ever think maybe your sister wouldn't wanna be saved?"
"Doesn't matter." The oldest Winchester remarked, his voice flat. "You don't get a choice."
With a huff, Adriadne chuckled darkly. "Just let me go do what I wanna do. I don't bother you; you don't bother me. So what the hell do you care?"
"What do we care?" Sam asked, almost dejectedly. He shook his head, not dignifying her with a response, and started pouring holy water around the devil's trap. Reciting the Latin to start the ritual, he grabbed a needle, loaded it up with human blood, and handed it to Dean.
Adriadne looked at her supposed brothers, she didn't even know their birth order. She knew Dean was the oldest and Sam was the youngest. But where did she fit in the lineup? "You got anything stronger in there? Some heroin? Meth? Maybe it'd really make me feel somethin'."
"Don't worry, honey, you're gonna feel a lot."
And before she could fight it, he put the syringe in her arm and pumped the blood directly into her arm. She could feel it coursing through her veins, traveling through her bones, her arteries, her cells. Weaving its way throughout her body like an itch you can't scratch. Involuntarily, she let out a loud roar, a demonic roar, of pain. This damn human blood did not agree with her.
"Look," Sam said as both brothers backed away from her. "We've got a whole bunch more of these to go. You could make this a lot easier on yourself."
"And just in case some part of you gives a crap, we got your blood type."
"You wanna know something?" Adriadne asked, but a new wave of pain from the human blood cut her off. She groaned but wouldn't let it cut her off too long. She was a demon, after all, and pain had never been something she feared. It was something she admired, longed for, craved. "The part of your sister that cared died a long time ago."
Tumblr media
Five times, the Winchester brothers had streamlined her with human blood. They didn't say anything when they came in this time, silently injecting her with round six. Like it was the only thing keeping them from breaking.
Adriadne was a demon; she knew that. But now things were becoming a little muddled. There had been small things, small tidbits of images popping in and out of her brain.
They weren't like dreams or nightmares. They were more like poorly done movies of being beaten by someone she was supposed to call her father. Dreams of fighting with her siblings, where even they'd beaten her - but also when she fought back, and they took the beatings themselves. She won and lost over and over, losing the fight when Sam left them for school, winning when Dean tried to get her to stop seeing her high school boyfriend, losing when Dean took away the knife he gave her, and winning when she eventually stole it back. She remembered watching their so-called father yell and scream, practically torturing who she was told were her brothers. She remembered not being able to do anything about it.
She saw herself hunting other creatures - not humans, but monsters. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, djinns, banshees, rugarus. She saw herself taking beatings from them, nearly dying from her injuries several times. She saw herself lose her virginity to a sweet guy from her high school at the time. She saw herself take that night and turn it into a string of drunken one-night stands.
She saw her father coming home drunk almost every night, beaten up. She saw herself patching him up, giving him stitches when necessary. She'd been the one to set her brother's bones when they were broken or dislocated. She'd have to be the one to reset her own because none of them were as good as she was at it. She saw the woman who was supposed to be her mother burn to death on a ceiling as her older brother - a toddler himself - pulled her and her little brother to safety.
And she remembered her father dying, making a deal with a demon to keep his oldest son alive and breathing. Then she remembered doing the same thing for her younger brother.
"You're the Winchesters," Adriadne drawled. "You're hunters. So am I an idiot to assume what you're gonna do once you realize this won't work? You think you got the stomach for that? Killing the girl you think is your sister?"
"We're not worried," Sam denied. "Because we've done this before."
Tumblr media
It had been nine hours, nine injections of human blood in her veins, and she could name nine parts of her body she could barely move. She hadn't felt so useless since she was on the rack, and even then, she had a purpose. To postpone, to make it as long as she could. Alastair had given her a choice. Stay on, deal with the consequences, or get off, and then do it to someone else who deserved it too.
She had been at the end of her rope; her soul was already ripped to shreds. And then they healed her and broke it again.
The humans deserved it - that's what she was taught.
But then, why was I the one on the rack? I'm not human.
Yes, I am. Or...I was.
No. My name is Ad-Adria-
She had been having so many memories over the last several hours. But they had to be dreams; she didn't remember them belonging to her. Of the Winchesters, of growing up on Earth, of being a part of an admittedly screwed-up family.
My name is-
"How you doin', Mo?" That was Sam, her…younger brother, she had remembered. The memories were like a plague, keeping her sedentary in a time she had long forgotten. A time, she didn't know if she wanted to go back to or not. It was a time when she cared about them, about humans in general. A time when she had the ability to care.
Mo. Morgan.
She was confused when they called her that. She didn't know how to describe it. But something was weird about that name. These were people that she knew before she went to Hell. People she loved. People she would've sacrificed everything for. People she did sacrifice everything for.
"It doesn't feel right," She rasped, shaking her head as much as possible. Which, apparently, was not a lot.
"No, shit," And there's Dean.
"When you call me that," She explained, despondent, trying to blink away the new memory attempting to take hold of her reality. "It doesn't feel like my name."
"Well, what is your name?"
She didn't know. Adriadne was supposed to be her name. Morgan was supposed to be her name. How could someone not know their own fucking name? It was the most basic form of identification. Even demons had names. A new wave of pain hits her, and she grips the chair with all her strength. It wasn't a lot; she was so weak. But then another memory took over, and she wasn't even in that room anymore.
"What is your name?" He had asked, his voice cold and unemotional. The girl only shook her head in response, knowing what was coming with her answer. "You will answer me when I speak to you, girl.
"Morgan," She choked out, tears already rolling. "Morgan Winchester."
"You don't deserve my last name." Before she could blink, her cheek was stinging, and she was on the motel room floor. More tears fell involuntarily at the searing pain, at the blood dripping down her face from his ring. She flinched at the hand he rose again, but no hit came. Instead, he laughed - a heartless and calculating laugh. Like it was amusing watching his thirteen-year-old daughter cower at his feet. "You are no Winchester."
He was ready to strike a second time when someone got in the way.
"Get out of the way, Sam."
"No," his little voice announced. She could hear the emotion in his words as he continued. The little ten-year-old was scrawny, even smaller than she was. "She knows what she did. You don't have to hit her again."
Ignoring the boy, her father turned back to Morgan, practically looking through her little brother. "So this is what you've come to? Making little Sammy fight your damn battles for you?"
She looked him straight in the eyes; the green they usually held was almost black in the room's dim lighting. She had seen this so many times when he was angry, when a hunt didn't go his way, when his children disobeyed him. When she did something wrong.
"Boys," Her father called, ordering them to shut up and listen. Dean took his hands away from his face with a wince. Sam winced, too, backing away from his father. Nearly crashing into her. "Take this as a learning opportunity. We fight our own battles in this family. And we don't rely on other people to do it for us."
And with that, Sam was pushed out of the way, and he was on top of her.
"Dad," She gasped, finally back in the present but staring into space. Both brothers' heads shot up at the recall. "He was- he was mean."
"Yeah," Dean agreed, making her eyes lock on his. The whites of his eyes were red like the mention of his father had him holding things back. A storm was brewing behind his eyes, one he wouldn't let come to fruition. "He had his moments."
"He was so mad all the time," The girl croaked, her voice breaking even more. She was lost, not looking at them. Keeping her eyes down, they darted back and forth as she practically stared through the flesh and bone before her. "Watch out for Sammy. Make sure Sam's safe. Don't let anybody touch Sammy. If anything happens to him, I'll know whose fault it is." Her older brother only nodded, but Sam's eyes fluttered back and forth between his siblings. Like he was realizing something he hadn't before. "We were always watching out for Sammy. Who- who watched out for us?"
"Well, for one, Sammy watched out for us. And I watched for both of you, and you took care of us."
"I took care of you?"
"Yeah, Mo, you did," Sam said plainly.
"But I-I went to-" She denied, not entirely believing them. "I went to Hell, and now I don't know anything. You're my brothers? My family? My family tortured me. They-they're the ones that put me on the rack."
"Is that what they told you?" Sam asked, bewildered.
"I saw it!" She roared. Everything came back to her in waves, and not like a movie this time; these were memories. She knew it; she couldn't question it. "You hurt me- you- you touched me." She finally looked up at them, unable to hide the tears. She shook her head, trying to shake away the red, the blood, the screaming, the agony. "You- you- family isn't supposed to do that!"
Sam and Dean stared, their faces pale and drained. They didn't hide their emotions - like she remembered they did so often. They wore it plainly on their faces. Sam was a mixture of deep regret and sorrow. Dean wasn't just angry; he was simmering with rage.
"Now, you listen to me," Dean ordered, and she could almost hear a trace of their father in his voice. He leaned against the arms of her chair - her current prison - and gave her a stare that kept her captive in his gaze. "I went to Hell, too. They did the same thing to me. It. Wasn't. Us. And I know you don't believe that. But you will. Eventually."
When he finished, she nodded. He was wrong. Some part of her did believe him. The conviction in his words, the way he didn't bother to hide the angry tears in his eyes. Some part of her - a minuscule part - hoped he wasn't lying. That her family was still there for her. That maybe, even after everything that had happened, they would hold her when this was all over.
At her slight confirmation, he nodded, too, and stepped back, giving his younger brother room for the next shot. Sam came forward and quickly, without hesitation, put the syringe in her arm and pressed down.
"I don't even know my own name."
Sam didn't balk at her words. He just shook his head and gave her a small, barely there smile.
"You will."
Tumblr media
"I don't wanna be human," She cried. Eleven injections in, she could feel the human blood becoming her own. Integrating into her bones, her DNA changed with every second that passed. Her power was draining, and she didn't like it. She was returning to who she was before Hell, the young girl with daddy issues, with two brothers who loved her - but could never get along with.
"Humans are weak, they- their emotions, it's too much," She continued, shuddering. "They feel too much, they don't see how useless they are. How- how small they are. There are eight billion of you, and all of you think you're the most important one. You all think you have some fucked up purpose, that there's something more you can do with your pointless little lives."
"No one here is gonna tell you that being human is a walk in the park," Sam said, his voice calm and steady as if he was expecting her to say this. "But it is better than being a demon. Than killing for no reason. Because even if you don't believe it, I believe we do have a purpose. Maybe it's a tiny one, maybe you're just supposed to be here to make someone else happy. Maybe you're here to teach someone a lesson. Maybe you're here to save the world." His words got light at that, like it was an inside joke, and Dean let out a small laugh. But just because you don't know what it is or can't see it doesn't mean you don't have one."
Before she could respond or give any words to the contrary, he put the needle in her arm and gave her the twelfth shot.
Tumblr media
Morgan Winchester opened her eyes. And they were black. She could feel it, feel the remnants of Hell in her eyes. But as quickly as it came, it went. And as they cleared, she groaned. It was a strange feeling, but she felt lighter. Like there wasn't as much weight on her shoulders as before. Her eyes were blue again, like the sky people loved to stare at. Then she remembered she was human again. She was just a young girl again, not a demon, not a monster.
And then the weight returned. Only this time, it was even heavier, as if someone had tied an anvil around her neck and thrown her into the ocean. She remembered everything. Her life, her father, her mother, her brothers, Sam dying, her dad dying, her deal with a demon, Hell, being tortured, then turning around and doing the same, becoming a demon, becoming Adriadne, taking a joyride upstairs, murdering so many innocents. Then, being in here, the crowded but well-protected safe room in some place she had no knowledge of.
She could see her brothers a few feet away. Sam stood in front of Dean, holding a flask - their postures were identical. Tight and reserved, with their brows furrowed and their feet cemented into the floor.
Her face contorted into a question, and she greeted them with their names. She didn't know what else to say. But before she could speak again, Dean threw whatever was in the flask at her face.
Water. Water. Water.
And without needing a second to think about it, Morgan realized it was blessed. Holy water. They were putting her through one final test. To see if their work had paid off. When it didn't burn, sizzle, or boil her skin, her brothers let out a deep exhale of relief. Then, so did she.
"Welcome back, Morgan."

Introducing my Supernatural DR:
Buckle in this is a long one!
Tumblr media
Disclaimers:
I’m gonna write this with the assumption that you’ve seen the show and know what I’m talking about. I’m not really gonna explain things that are canon.
Feel free to ask any questions!
I made several changes to canon for my DR, if you don't agree with them that's perfectly ok, but please be respectful!
Comments on my DR (opinions, ideas, etc.) are welcome as long as they are respectful towards me and others!
If y’all with Supernatural DR’s (or any DR; but especially if we have DR’s in common) ever wanna chat my DM's are open, don't be shy! (No minors, sorry!)
Anti-shifters do not interact, I don't care what you think. If you are rude or disrespectful I will block you and delete your comment. I'm not going to argue with you because I simply don't care to. (If you see a rude or disrespectful comment before I can get to it I encourage you not to engage, ignore it, thanks!)
Last thing before we start: Yes, I’m one of those shifters who overpower themselves, so? You think I crossed the multiverse to be what I am here? No.
Tumblr media
Background:
First thing first, introductions! This portion is just a meet & greet! More details will come later when I go into the 'plot' of my Dr! :)
Tumblr media
Name: ‘Buggie’ Singer (Me!)
Species: Demi-god (Unbeknownst to everyone, including me, but more on that later)
About me: Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Raised by Bobby to know how to protect myself from the supernatural, but wasn’t raised specifically to be a hunter. He didn't exactly want me to be a hunter but he supports my choices because he knows I'll do what I want anyway. I like to write, read, make jewelry, listen to music. Before Dean came to get me I was an author who mainly stayed home writing and helping my dad with the salvage yard or helping him help other hunters. Occasionally going on a hunt with him if a monster happened to find itself in our area.
Tumblr media
Biological mom: Amara
Species: God
About her: The darkness, god’s sister, existed before creation
Status: Alive; Locked away by the god squad
Do I know her a first shift?: No
When did we first meet?: In my DR when she escaped she wasn't a baby and instead of going to Dean (when she thanked him for freeing her and she saved him from the black smoke) she came to me and told me she’s my mom (oooooo dramatic reveal) and saved me from the black smoke. (In the show it's Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire season 11, episode 1)
Tumblr media
Adoptive dad: Robert ‘Bobby’ Steven Singer
Species: Human
About him: Semi- retired Hunter, born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 12, 1950. He was like family to my biological father and adopted me when my parents died. To raise me he stopped hunting. He still helped others (like he did in the show), but he only went on hunts if a monster stumbled into our area. It was a last resort of course, first he'd try to call other hunter close by, but if they couldn't deal with it he'd reluctantly go. When that happened he'd always drop me off at the roadhouse for a couple of days.
Status: Alive (I scripted out his death)
Do I know him at first shift?: Yes
When did we first meet?: Shortly after I was born
Tumblr media
Biological dad(s): Cassian Calavera and Alastair
Species: Human and demon
About Cassian: Born in Toluca, Mexico, on December 29, 1950. From a legendary family of hunters.
About Alastair: A white eyed demon, considered one of the oldest and strongest demon. Hell's grand torturer.
Status: Dead
Do I know him at first shift?: I was a newborn, so no. I got to know him later in life though.
When did we first meet?: The first time I met him was shortly after I was born. Later, I met him when he rose from the dead during the rise of the witnesses.
Tumblr media
Mother figure: Ellen Harvelle
Species: Human
About her: Widow, retired hunter. She’d let me stay at the roadhouse if ever my dad went on a hunt. Treats me like her own. Doesn't really want me or Jo to be hunters, but supports our choices because we'll do it anyway. Born on November 2nd, 1968.
Status: Alive (Scripted out her death)
Do I know her at first shift?: Yes, she helped raise me
When did we first meet?: Childhood, I was around seven
Tumblr media
Like a sister to me: Joanna 'Jo' Beth Harvelle
Species: Human
About her: Born to Ellen and William Anthony Harvelle on April 7, 1985, raised at the roadhouse. Wants to be a hunter like her father.
Status: Alive (I scripted out her death)

Bestfriend: Samuel 'Sam' William Winchester
Species: Human
About him: Hunter, legacy. Son to John and Mary, Dean's little brother. Born May 2, 1983. Views me as a little sister, stayed in contact with me after he left for Stanford. The only person who knows about my powers other than my dad at first shift (Technically Cas does too he's not there at first shift). Him and Eileen are endgame.
Status: Alive
Do I know him at first shift?: Yes
When did we first meet?: John dropped him off at my house so he could go on a hunt when Sam was around three. We’re the same age so we were instant besties. Have been ever since!
Tumblr media
Future S/O: Dean Michael Winchester
Species: Human (Later a vampire, then demon, he gets cured though)
About him: Hunter, legacy. Son to John and Mary. Born January 24, 1979.

When did we first meet?: When John came to pick up Sam the first time (when me and Sam met), John was putting Sam's stuff in the trunk and I came out to say bye to Sam. John introduced Dean, who was waiting in the passenger seat. He waved.
Tumblr media
Guardian Angel (Kinda): Castiel
Species: Angel
About him: Angel of the lord. I truly feel like it's impossible not to like him, especially if you know him. Him and Meg are endgame (I'm not sorry).

Do I know him at first shift?: Technically
When did we first meet?: When I was a child; he was with me shortly after birth up until I was nine (I thought he was an imaginary friend).
Tumblr media
Bestie: Meg Masters
Species: Demon
About her: Got a job as a nurse so she could look after Cas when he was in his crazy era. She's a demon so she's not exactly 'nice' but she's not exactly 'mean' either. Falling/ looking after Cas made her a little soft. She's sort of hard shell somewhat soft-ish insides.

When did we first meet?: We met like how I met most hunters, they came to my dad for help on a hunt.

The Past:
The moment you've all been waiting for, 'plot' time!
In the beginning there were two: Chuck, the light, and Amara, the dark, brother and sister. Chuck, or god, wanted to create. Story goes Amara destroyed everything Chuck made, so he created the Archangels: Michael, Lucifer, Raphael, and Gabriel to help him defeat her. Here's where my DR starts to differ from canon. Yes, there was a battle between the god squad and Amara, however they failed to completely defeat Amara.
God didn't want to kill Amara. So he came up with a way to defeat her without killing her. Chuck created ‘The Mark’ this was to serve as lock and key to Amara’s prison. He entrusted it to his favorite son, Lucifer. However, something that powerful, something meant to contain that much darkness, corrupts. So Chuck and the Archangels attacked Amara. They nearly won, however by then the mark had already begun corrupting Lucifer. Instead of delivering the final blow to incapacitate Amara, Lucifer turned on his brothers and his father. While they were busy fighting Lucifer, Amara slipped away using what little power she had left to cloak herself from god and the Archangels. She wasn’t usually the run and hide type, but if they found her in the state she was in they’d surely win that fight. So she hid and waited for her strength to return to her.
Lucifer was not defeated that day either. Say what you will about him, but he’s not an idiot. He knew that if his family could nearly kill Amara, who was a great deal stronger than him, he knew that they’d most likely make quick work of him. He too fled, and for a while everything was quiet.
With no sign of Amara or Lucifer’s return, Chuck began creating again. He created the rest of the Angels, the world, you get the idea. While there were no obvious signs of Lucifer, he watched and waited. He saw his father's latest creation: humans. Chuck was worried Lucifer would return so he charged Gadreel with protecting them. Chuck was right to worry of course because Lucifer did return and to trick Adam and Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. Man fell, Lucifer gave the mark to Cain (making it the mark of Cain), he made Lilith then the princes of hell. He lost the war against heaven and got cast into hell and trapped in the cage by Michael.
Eventually Amara regains enough of her strength to return, and when she does she’s met with something that actually kind of amazes her. Humans, humanity. She was both intrigued and infuriated. She still wasn’t at full strength so she decided to live amongst the humans, more like hide amongst the humans, while she looked for her brother. But finding Chuck was only half the battle. She’d still need a way to defeat him. She knew the angels and Archangels would side against her and with Lucifer in the cage she had no other choice but to make something of her own.
Amara tried to make her own angels or similar beings like her brother had, but it seemed creating life was harder than she thought. Maybe the darkness just wasn't meant to create. Until it finally dawned on her. Chuck had given her the answer. Procreation. The idea disgusted her, true, but if a Nephilim grows to be stronger than their Angel parent, what of a god’s child? Surely they’d grow to be stronger than God himself. Yes. With this child, she could defeat god and become unstoppable.
While searching for Chuck, Amara lived all over the earths in the different worlds that Chuck created. Until she landed in ‘The Main Universe’ (Where God’s favorite Sam and Dean are). She was traveling the world looking for a human she didn’t completely detest. The one that would be my father.
My father was a born into a family of legendary hunters. Every hunter has their speciality. Every hunter has a favorite thing to hunt. My father's favorite were demons. His last case was a demon named Alastair, he worked the case alongside his little brother, Ivan. They had never encountered a demon so powerful. Alastair takes possession of Ivan and leaves Cassian for dead. Cassian survives and tracks Alastair all the way to Sioux Falls. Where he mets Bobby, who was also hunting Alastair. Bobby was reluctant to team up at first, but he gave in once Cassian shared his story. While working the case they become close friends, all was going well until they actually encountered Alastair. They were losing the fight against Alastair. While Bobby knocked unconscious Cassian pleads Alastair to leave his little brother be. If he must take someone take him instead. Let Ivan go and live his life. Alastair accepts only so Cassian can watch Ivan's body fall to the ground, having been dead since he was first possessed. Once he had taken hold of Cassian's body, he wakes Bobby. Taking over his body was not enough, he would force Cassian to watch as he took over his life. Alastair, as Cassian, settles in Sioux Falls.
Alastair sensed Amara's power the second she entered Sioux Falls. He was drawn to her darkness, to him that made her truly beautiful. She paid him no mind at first, but he persisted. She could hardly stand humans, let alone demons. Ultimately the promise of an all powerful weapon to use against Chuck and Alastair worshipping the ground she walked on won her over. Sure, for her he was just a means to and end, but for him? She was the love of his life. She wasn’t particularly kind or caring towards him but he didn’t much care.
After I was born the room lit up and started to shake. Amara knew this meant Angels were on the way to destroy her and whatever caused that surge of energy. She told my father to take me and run. He does, he takes me straight to Bobby. He would have preferred to leave me with other demons, but demons could be found to easily by angels. My father pounded on the door frantically until a confused Bobby came to the door. He explained that something was after him and Amara, but he didn't know what, but he needed his help. Bobby of course wanted to help, so he agreed to take me for a couple of days.
My father returned home to find nothing. Amara was nowhere to be found. Now you might be thinking, how can some run of the mill angels defeat Amara? She's as powerful as God. They were no run of the mill angels. The angels that came to deal with Amara were the remaining Archangels along with Cain (because he had the mark). This coupled with Amara being severely weakened by my birth, and the fact that she had never fully recovered from the first go around, she was sealed away as god had intended all those years ago.
My father, was so caught up in his grief that he almost didn't notice a man come out from the shadow's behind him. The two men fought eventually ending in Alastair leaving Cassian's body. Escaping to hell and leaving Cassian to deal with the agonizing pain of being stabbed. Then the man stood there, looking over his body with no particular emotion. For he was no man at all, he was an angel. An angel named Castiel.
Castiel had orders. He had orders to wait after Amara's defeat to find and destroy the reason for that power surge. With the death of my father he thought his orders complete, so he returned to Heaven. Upon his arrival he was met with disdain by his superiors. They not so kindly informed him that his orders remained and that he was to return to earth to finish them. He was not welcomed in heaven until his orders were fulfilled.
Castiel does as he's told. He searches my parents house for days, with not much luck until the house phone rings. It had been a few days since my father dropped me off at Bobby's and he hadn't heard back from him. He made some comment about how it's easier to run a salvage yard than to look after a baby. Castiel knew of a human's instinct to protect their young so he figured that was the missing piece. Castiel was set.
After a few hours of searching, Castiel finally found the salvage yard that had both a 'Bobby' and a baby. He snuck into the house on the property while Bobby slept. He looked over my makeshift crib with the intention of completing his orders. At the last minute I awoke, he expected me to scream or cry, but instead I just smiled and reached out to him. In that moment Castiel wondered why heaven would condone the death of an innocent child.
He stayed with me for a while, he'd never been so close to a baby before, there was something about this child. Something that made him decide on another path. He decided then and there that he would not- that he could not kill this child. Instead he warded me against the angels. The very same spell he would later use on Sam and Dean.
Throughout my childhood, Castiel would come by and check in on me. He hadn't meant for me to see him, in fact he's still not sure how I could see him, no one else had. He walked straight past my dad, with no incident. But somehow he wasn’t invisible to me. Every time he'd come by I'd reach out to him. He was confused as to why at first, but after a few tries he caught on.
Slipping away from heaven was no easy task, but he managed. When he discovered my powers he felt no choice but to increase his visits. My powers weren't like any he'd ever seen. By then I could speak and due to that one time I accidently saw his wings, I called him Birdie. He taught me what he could about controlling my powers, when I cried he'd comfort me, when I got hurt he healed me. He was so much more than a teacher, he was family to me. He was my best friend that no one else could see. Things stayed that way until I was nine. Until he left.
Growing up me and Dean weren't really close. We were never really around each other too much. Mainly because I only saw him when John was dropping off or picking up Sam. I saw him a little more once we got older and they started to come around more. Not a ton though. Me and Dean were friends, but not close. We became close after Sam left for Stanford. After Sam left he called me and kind of asked if I could be there for Dean. I reached out not really expecting a response, but he got back to me and we talked. After that we talked all the time and he came to visit whenever he could.
Tumblr media
The Present:
Sorry this is short, but I didn't really change too much of the show's beginning so there's not much to say!
I am shifting to the beginning of the show. Before Dean went to go pick up Sam from Stanford he came to pick me up. They haven't spoken since Sam left so he wanted me to come along because he wasn't really convinced that he could convince Sam to leave with him to look for their dad. Totally not because we're crushing on each other. It's a two day drive from Sioux Falls to Stanford so I will be shifting to the night of the 28th.
Tumblr media
First Shift:
I haven't shifted to this DR yet btw but this is what I have scripted for my first shift!
When I wake up I'll be laying on the couch in the living room. Dad will be reading some lore at his desk, the radio softly playing "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. There's a knock on the door, my dad looks at me and asks if I'm expecting anyone. I'm still waking up so I don't respond. He huffs and goes open the door. He's gone for a minute, I hear some talking, then he walks back into the living room followed by Dean. Dean asks to speak to me, we go into the hallway while dad returns to his reading. He asks me to come with him, I agree. I grab my go bag and say goodbye to my dad, then we're off!
Tumblr media
My Powers:
I just really wanna talk about my powers. Totally not an excuse to show off my shitty edits.
My Magic:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My powers for this DR are a combination of Wanda's powers (Unoriginal, I know. Idgaf.), god powers (Cuz Amara's my mom), and a siphon witches powers (from TVD). I wanted my powers to be visible and look more like witch magic than angel magic, which is why in the beginning I think I'm some sort of witch. My power is basically Wanda's magic with a black core and a dark red outer shell. It's more free flowing than Wanda's, her's stays in a ball shape mine is more free flowing and moves like fire. When I use my power my iris' glow the same dark red that my power is and it makes the same noise that Wanda's magic makes when she uses her power (Idk how to describe it, it's sort of like little whispers).
My wings:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The wings in my DR work more like the wings in the show ‘Lucifer’. They have to be summoned by the Angel, and when summoned they can be seen by everyone. (Example of wing summoning on the right.)

Thanks for reading!

Although some analysts have given reasons why negotiated solutions to the wars in the Gaza and Ukraine are not in the cards, for the most part, they have also been hesitant to say that in a simple noun-verb sentence. Perhaps they hope against hope that a frame-breaking event will radically shift the current boundary conditions for the various parties. Or they hew to the “messaging can create realities” school of thought, and don’t want to legitimate very bad outcomes, no matter how likely they seem. Or it may be that as a matter of personal style, they are averse to being declarative.
So let’s look at why, despite the new round of Western officials (and in the case of Gaza, what is coming to be called the Global Majority) and the press making noises about talks the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine, there are yawing chasms between what the two sides are willing to do, and no prospect of meaningful movement in their positions even if the key players change. If you parse down the problem to key considerations, it’s not hard to find the underlying rigidities.
With Israel and Palestine, there is a widespread consensus, which includes many non-Zionist Jews, that the only route to a durable peace is the two state solution. But the current hard right government and an ever-more-powerful settler cohort are committed to a policy of securing Israel for Jews only, and on top of that, a “historical” Israel which means more territory. Existing conditions, such as the degree of balkanization of Palestinian living space, also render a two state solution untenable. And the Hamas October 7 attacks have radicalized some of the moderate Jews in Israel. A Palestinian state would have a military. Not hard in the current climate to scaremonger around that prospect.
It is true that Prime Minister Netanyahu has powerful personal incentives to keep the crisis going as long as possible. The prospect of imprisonment wonderfully focuses the mind. Therefore US punditocracy too often depicts Netanyahu were the problem. The implication is f he could be removed, the situation would become more tractable. That’s false.
While Netanyahu has been the lead architect of the anti-Palestinian policies and is an extremely cunning politician, those positions and practices are now very well embedded. As former British ambassador Alastair Crooke explained:
“Israel” has shattered into two equally weighted factions holding to two irreconcilable visions of “Israel’s” future; two mutually opposing readings of history and of what it means to be Jewish. The fissure could not be more complete. Except it is. One faction, which holds a majority in parliament, is broadly Mizrahi — a former underclass in Israeli society; and the other, largely well-to-do liberal Ashkenazi. So, what has this to do with Al-Aqsa Flood? Well, the Right in Netanyahu’s government has two long-standing commitments. One is to rebuild the (Jewish) Temple on ‘Temple Mount’ (Haram al-Shariff). Just to be clear, that would entail demolishing Al-Aqsa [one of the holiest sites for Muslims]. The second overriding commitment is to the founding of “Israel”, on the “Land of Israel”. And again, to be clear, this (in their view) would entail clearing Palestinians from the West Bank. Indeed, the settlers have been cleansing Palestinians from swaths of the West Bank over the past year (notably between Ramallah and Jehrico). On Thursday morning (two days preceding Al-Aqsa Flood), more than 800 settlers stormed the Mosque Compound, under the full protection of Israeli forces. The drumbeat of such provocations is rising. This is nothing new. The First Intifada was triggered by (then) PM Sharon making a provocative visit into the mosque. I was a part of Senator George Mitchell’s Presidential Committee investigating that incident. Even then, it was clear that Sharon intended the visit to fuel the fire of Religious nationalism. At that time, the Temple Mount Movement was a minnow; today it has ministers in Cabinet and in key security positions — and has promised its followers to build the ‘Third Temple’.
The second problem is that the economic marginalization and cordoning of the Palestine population has become so advanced that it looks impossible to unwind it….tacitly, without costs to Israelis that they would not accept. Key sections from an article in Vox from February 2023 by Jonathan Guyer. Note his prescient call of the risk of a third Initifada:
The US policy does not take into account how entrenched the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem has become. Israeli settlement growth in the West Bank has made a viable Palestinian state all but impossible. The US-led talks between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization have been on hiatus since President Barack Obama’s second term, and even at the time, there was little hope that they would amount to much. And Arab states like Morocco, UAE, and Bahrain have abandoned Palestinians, as they normalize relations with the State of Israel and eliminate any incentives for negotiations toward a Palestinian state… But the actions that have foreclosed the possibility of a two-state solution are decades in the making….Israeli actions, like construction of a hulking, concrete separation barrier between Israel and the occupied West Bank, have rendered the proposed borders of the future Palestinian state moot. Further cut off by Israeli settlements, Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank has been reduced to unconnected cantons, with a network of settler-only roads sometimes being the only connection between them. This brutal new geography puts into question a Palestinian state’s economic viability… Meanwhile, the Palestinian government run by 87-year-old Mahmoud Abbas is fractured, dysfunctional, and increasingly authoritarian. It also essentially is the subcontractor of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank.
The third issue is despite the US in theory having leverage over Israel, in practice we don’t due to the power of the Israel lobby in the Beltway. Guyer’s article pointed out that when the Biden State Department top human rights appointee Sarah Margon had her confirmation held up for two years over a tweet that approved of AirBnB removing listings in settlements in the West Bank. Ranking member and gentile James Risch depicted Jewish Margon as an anti-Semitic. She eventually withdrew her candidacy.
As Professor John Mearsheimer put it in his interview last Friday with Judge Napolitano (starting at 1:34):
The fact is the United States and Israel are joined at the hip. There are no two countries in recorded history that have a closer history that have a closer relationship than the United States and Israel. And when this crisis broke out on October 7, President Biden made it very clear we would give Israel whatever aid it needed, and that meant both weapons and money, that we would support Israel to the hilt. And we have done that. Once you take into account that tight relationship, how committed we already are to this war, it’s very difficult for us to back off and to begin to put pressure on Israel to do X or Y or Z. There is no question that Blinken can try to go to the Middle East and pressure Israel, but the Israelis can tell him “No” and then what is he going to do? And if he decides he’s going to then get tough, which he isn’t going to do, American domestic, the power of the Israel lobby, would kick in and make it very difficult for the Biden Administration to put pressure on Israel.
Mearsheimer charitably depicts Biden and Blinken as interested in curbing Israel, if nothing else for the benefit of Israel. But that’s hard to see. Alastair Crooke pointed out in (also in a Judge Napolitano interview) that Biden had done less than any recent president to advance the two state solution (I infer that means even Trump gave it more lip service).
Biden also has the established habit of saying things that are expedient at the time that have no relationship to his policy aims, like telling China’s President Xi that the US supports the China one-state policy, then turning around and continuing to escalate in Taiwan. So he and Blinken are mouthing the two state remedy because even though it is no answer, it at least makes them appear responsible and fair-minded when they are anything but.
So one has to wonder what the latest Blinken round of visits to the Middle East was supposed to accomplish, since all it did was expose our impotence. Even the Financial Times could not hide that the meetings with Netanyahu and then Arab leaders were a train wreck. Netanyahu rejected even any itty bitty ceasefire, branded a humanitarian pause, to get relief in, demanding that Hamas release all hostages first.1 The fact that Israel has welched or underperformed on its past begrudging promises to let trucks from Egypt in, would make that a non-starter even before getting to Hamas being sure to stick to its position of wanting to trade hostages for Palestinian prisoners. And of course the Arab states are not about to budge. Blinken got a more pointed version of what he was told before. From the pink paper:
Antony Blinken faced intense pressure from regional allies to facilitate an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, laying bare the stark gap between US support for Israel and the outrage in Arab capitals over the siege and bombardment of the strip…. Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian foreign minister, demanded an unconditional ceasefire, a commitment that Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu bluntly rejected after meeting Blinken on Friday.
This section reveals Blinken as a rank amateur:
Blinken had been expected to “brainstorm” with Arab diplomats the future of Gaza, home to 2.3mn Palestinians, after the war ends. Safadi bluntly rejected those talks as premature. “How can we even entertain what will happen in Gaza when we do not know how Gaza will be left?” he asked Blinken. “Are we going to be talking about a wasteland? Are we talking about a whole population reduced to refugees?”
This comes off as the sort of thing someone who had just read classic texts on negotiating trying to put in practice: “Gee, let’s get a dialogue going! Let’s get to ‘Yes’ on some less fraught issues to pave the way for further agreement!”
In addition, “brainstorming” is cringemakingly American. You don’t do that with people who are mad at you. You don’t do that in a crisis. Between independent entities, you do not do that at the top level. You have low level people or emissaries float ideas.
So why this exercise? The worst is that Biden and Blinken come off as so disconnected from reality that they though they might get someone to accommodate US needs.
But some more generous possibilities: To try to get in front of a mob and pretend we the indispensable power, are leading a parade? To try to reverse some of the damage to our reputation as more of the world recoils from our not stopping or even criticizing the genocide in Gaza? To try to placate American Muslims who are moving away from Team Dem to the degree that the party might lose Michigan? Perhaps insiders comfort themselves with the thought that American supporters of Palestine have nowhere to go; Donald Trump is a rabid supporter. But they forget that these voters can just stay home. If there was a PR angle, that turned out to be a bust too.
The information on the IDF progress against Hamas fighters is thin and not likely to be reliable. But even though it seems likely that Israel will be able to declare a victory even though that will amount clearing Gaza of civilians more than destroying Hamas, Israel is likely to suffer real damage in the process.
As to the inevitable failure of the kinda-sorta revival of the idea of having Ukraine negotiate with Russia, that’s an even more obvious non-starter, despite Putin making polite noises that he’s willing to talk. The excitement about a new NBC article stating that the US is pressing Ukraine to negotiate is just another example of the Ukraine coalition side talking to itself without considering seriously what it might take to get the other side to agree.
Tumblr media
However, on a practical level, this does start to let the air our of the Ukraine hype balloon.
As with Israel, we have the apparent obstacle of a non-negotiable leader obscuring other fundamental problems. We can go through the usual litany. The West has repeatedly been a bad faith actor, with its welching on its “not one inch further east” promise, its gleeful admission of duplicity in the Minsk Accords, it not delivering on its part of the grain deal bargain, and getting Ukraine to renege on its preliminary deal in March 2022. The West keeps talking about having Ukraine negotiate with Russia when Russia knows and the West has admitted that Ukraine is a proxy. You don’t talk to the money, you talk to the organ grinder.
The West also continues to be well behind the state of play for what its side would need to concede even to get Russia’s attention. Merely allowing Russia to keep the territory it presently occupies won’t do when the Ukraine army is now increasingly admitted in the Anglosphere press to be low on arms and men with no prospect of getting to adequate levels. That translates into collapse being in the foreseeable future. As many observers, including yours truly, have pointed out, Russian officials have increasingly signaled that they intend to return formerly Russian land to Russia. That has been taken to mean areas with significant ethnic Russian populations, meaning the territory east of the Dnieper and the Black Sea coast.2
But we described the showstopper in our September post, Original Sin: How the Weak Legal Foundations of NATO Make Negotiations With Russia Virtually Impossible. One of Russia’s fundamental demands is that Ukraine never enter NATO. NATO so far has rejected that idea with hostility. But even if NATO were to have a Damascene conversion, “NATO” cannot commit as a body. Each member state has to agree individually. As we wrote then, expanding on an important post by Aurelien:
So this goes a long way towards explaining why the so-called Collective West gets so wrapped around the axle of having to negotiate with itself. If “NATO” has to act in some manner to settle the conflict in Ukraine, every member of NATO (an as Aurelien argues, potentially even interested parties like Switzerland) would have to come to an agreed position, since each country would have to sign off individually on any pact for it to amount to a NATO-equivalent treaty.
Aside from the procedural mess, do you think the Baltic states would ever agree?
So again, we need to remind readers that despite the US floating yet more negotiation trial balloon, nothing had changed. And tragically, it’s pretty certain nothing will change.
____
1 Seymour Hersh’s new article, How the Hostage Crisis Could End, based on accounts from “an American official” on the claim that ngotiations with the Hamas political leadership are underway. Hersh also cites a supposed Middle East expert, but this expert was spitballing on how Hamas political leader Yayha Sinwar might respond (I really do not like Hersh’s slippery formulation with respect to this guy: “…who knows of the seriousness of current hostage talks.” If he really had inside knowledge, he would not need to speculate.) His other sources, which include an Israel general, are not corroborating the fact of these supposed negotiations.
The claim here is that the Hamas political leadership was in the dark as to what the military wing was going to execute on October 7, the military force is collapsing, about to suffocate in the tunnels, and the political leadership is willing to sell the armed forces out to save their hides. Specifically, we are told Israel is negotiating for the men in the tunnels to be released if Hamas also frees all hostages and will subject everyone who participated in the October 7 attack to war crimes trials, including “combat leaders” who are accused of witnessing the purported crimes and not attempting to stop them. This account also presupposes that most of the hostages still alive after all the shelling and the political wing of Hamas can get whoever is left standing in the military wing to release them. Pray tell, why should they cooperate? Even Hersh has to concede this scheme comes off as something “out of a bad novel.” One has to think the Hersh account is nothing more than yet another idea cooked up by the US that is going nowhere.
Perhaps Hersh will be proven correct, but I have trouble buying this as anything more than the US and Israel depicting Hamas as a spent fighting force in Gaza and to get the meme that Hamas committed war crimes back in circulation as Israel is being correctly accused of mass scale war crimes in Gaza, and increasingly, genocide. Scott Ritter can be melodramatic, but as an ex-Marine, he often talks about soldiers putting their lives on the line, as in that’s understood to be fundamental to the role. Hamas fighters had to expect that they could die in this operation. Not that anyone welcomes that outcome, but one has to think that the rank and file, and even more the leadership, were prepared. Why should they let Israel attempt to reclaim the moral high ground, particularly since Israel is also demanding death for any Hamas member who is successfully prosecuted? Dead is dead. Better to die with some dignity, fighting.
2 Putin has started to argue that Kiev might be subject to incorporation as “historical Russia.” However, Putin has also made a point to hold elections to validate territorial acquisition and it’s doubtful there would be a credible win in Western Ukraine ex its South. And holding hostile territory is corrupting. So this section of his speech may be a warning that Russia sees it as legitimate to march to Lviv if it has to….but then what happens? Alexander Mercouris also called attention to his remarks at Meeting with members of the Civic Chamber. Key section:
First of all, we all know very well – these are the facts of history – that all, as you said, the South Russian lands were given to the Soviet Ukraine during the formation of the Soviet Union. There was no Ukraine as part of the empire, there were regions, and it came in the 16th century, Ukraine, consisted of three regions: Kiev and the Kiev region, Zhitomir, Chernigov – that’s all. It came from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, from Poland voluntarily. We have a letter in our archives – I have already mentioned it – we, the Russian Orthodox people, appeal to Moscow, to the Tsar, and so on. In an attempt to defend our rights, we addressed the same letter to Warsaw: we, the Russian Orthodox people, ask to preserve this and that, demand, and so on. Then what happened happened. They started to form the Soviet Union and created a huge Ukraine, and primarily and to a large extent at the expense of the South Russian lands – all the Black Sea region and so on, although all these cities, as we know, were founded by Catherine the Great after a series of wars with the Ottoman Empire. Ok, so it happened, modern Russia came to terms with it after the collapse of the Soviet Union. But when they started to exterminate everything Russian there – that is, of course, extreme. And in the end they declared that Russians are not an indigenous nation in these lands – it is a complete outrage, you know? And at the same time, they also started exterminating Russians in Donbas to the applause of the West.
So if you read this carefully (and what follows), Putin is still concerned with the treatment of ethnic Russians, but warns this issue could be considered expansively.

Narcissistic art rant
Tw: anti cc
[I only take constructive criticism if u don't like/agree with my post either keep scrolling or *politely* express your opinion, i am a fragile little tea cup who doesn't like conflict and i will cry and overthink]
I know i might sound egotistical, but i don't like how any official art (the art posted by cc) of alastair carstairs looks.
I will 100% reblog an Alastair Carstairs fanart that maybe doesn't fit my vision of him, i wont criticise it or anything bc they did this from their heart. They were passionate about it. I will shut my mouth and appreciate the hell out of it. Also i know that my fanarts will also clash with some ppl's perception of him
But, I actually hate coming across official art of Thomas and Alastair, here are my reasons,
> the proportions are always wack on these two specifically for some reason. If y'all remember thr scarf one, i remember trying to figure out the proportions there, Alastair's arms were short and it just irks me. Bc ppl are paid for this. This isn't a fanart, this is a Commission prolly, and it just takes me out of the whole piece immediately.
>Thomas doesnt have a single, solo art that actually looks nice. One that i actually like started to bother me for some reason, so i tracked the proportions and his forehead was too big, and just the whole thing tuned me off from the piece.
He also has a chariot (?) fanart, (him on top of a chariot) and im sorry to say that was one of the fucking ugliest of Official art of thomas, his whole thing was off, it was a perspective drawing, and it just failed, his head looked to big, his face was stiffer than wood, his body' perspective made my brain hurt, it was just not good.
>for some reason only the alastair and thomas are non sensical (im talking their solo character drawings) like why is Alastair
Evilly reading a book? Why is thomas just flexing?? It makes no sense compared to the rest, matthew is laying there like a girl boss and that makes sense for him, like just these two are kinda awkwardly standing or sitting
> they make Alastair a twink. Theres nothing wrong with being a twink. But Alastair is literally a shadowhunter. An ACTIVE shadowhunter. And its not even that he looks like a twink compared to Thomas, no they actually make him a petite little boy. Wtf???? It feels like they are trying to put Alastair and Thomas in a heteronormative box. Doesn't help that almost the whole fandom agrees on the opinion that Alastair is the bottom. (Trust me i tried searching for bottom thomas lightwood....i found a barren land)
Their art feels forced to me...i dont feel jack shit. And these are my favourite fucking characters i have seen absolutely beginner stuff, and i have cried over it. I just dont feel anything when i look at these official arts.
Here ends my very narcissistic rant. At the end of the day...cc can just make characters and fuck em up, i will take them, put them.in a box and shake it violently until i like them.
I will have to say, i love the coloring of these fanarts, even the ones that make me want to die, but yeah the drawing is just not there, they feel hollow and wonky, and i dont care how smooth and cool the colors looks when it feels completely emotionless.

AUTHENTICITY– What are sub- and unconscious things that make them who they are? Who can they be themselves with, and who do they wear a mask for? What kinds of social roles do they perform?
Thanks for the ask @mimble-sparklepudding! Sorry I have been working on this answer a bit at a time for a long time now! Thanks for the ask it was a good one that made me think!
Many alts below!
Tumblr media
Alastair and Riatsala are both honorable and good at their core. Riatsala is the "world beat me up too much so I' gave up'll watch it burn" sort of dark grey. So he lived long enough to become the villain that everyone thought he was? But he's swinging back toward anti hero maybe.
They can only be themselves with each other and Indigo their dragon really. Their brother Sephyrn. Sometimes their mother Talia. Fabian now but not before.
They're technically a lord/heir to Eryk and Talia's house. Alastair is working with his parents to learn to run the house again. There was talk about him joining the knights but the writer dropped the ball because Rulian's been busy elsewhere.
Tumblr media
Blue is just sugary sweet and nice. He can be himself with his friends Thorne, Vinnie, Twilight, Inxli. Social role? He's technically supposed to be a student but he's been more of a beach bum with Thorne the last few years.
Tumblr media
Bram loves everyone (until you cross him), he's actually pretty forgiving for those he cares about, and he's eternal optimism and pure wonder and joy. He can be himself with his husbands, his friends, his family. He's pretty much boldly himself with everyone now to be honest. If you don't like it you can get out of his way. Social role: He's a rich celebrity obviously.
Tumblr media
Colt's a lot like Bram just less bold. He's got the eternal bubbly joy and optimism too, just at a smaller dose. He's usually himself with everyone he doesn't really worry about it. Social role: He's a hunter/scout for the tribe, an explorer.
Tumblr media
At his core Diajik NEEDS to save innocent good people. He wasn't saved and he's compelled to save others that are in danger that are like he used to be. He'll gripe and complain and maybe even curse about it but he can't walk away from someone truly in need of help, not an innocent bystander. Who can he be himself with? No one. Taxir sometimes maybe. Social role: He's like a spider sitting in a web waiting to devour anyone who wanders too close. He's everywhere. Spy/informant/assassin/hunter. But he was Nunh of his tribe until recently.
Tumblr media
Durriken has to help. He's a healer at his core. If he sees someone hurting or broken he has to try. Unlike his father though he will give up after a while. He's himself with Myth mostly and their children, sometimes Bram or F'yire but that's more rare. He's the healer for the tribe and works with Taxir to oversee any healing that needs to be done. The tribe is massive so they're usually quite busy.
Tumblr media
Eryk is the true, good hearted, loyal, faithful knight. Eryk is only ever himself with Talia when they're alone. Sometimes Fabian and Sadek see it a bit but not on purpose. He's a knight in Ishgard..I really look up the proper titles for the hierarchy.
Tumblr media
Fabian tries really hard. In everything. Always gives his best, even if he thinks it's not enough or he doesn't know what he's doing. He's himself with Sadek, Eryk, Talia, and sometimes Alastair and Riatsala now. Traditionally he's the healer of the group but his player hates leveling/playing healers so he's a bard/archer here. Field medic?
Tumblr media
F'alcon is loyal to a fault. Earnest. Does his best. Truly just sweet and good even though he was raised in a hateful tribe. Modest and shy at times. He can be himself with his brother F'yire and his mate Vhari. He's the sidekick I guess, he's F'yire's right hand man and has been for their entire lives.
Tumblr media
F'yire is determination. He will do his duty and he will do it well and he will destroy anything in his way. He's only really himself with his mates and brothers, sometimes Durriken. His role is the leader and protector of his people (the tribe). He ended up in control of his tribe as Nunh - which can be uncommon - because it was almost destroyed and he rebuilt it.
Tumblr media
G'laice is fueled by rage and vengeance mostly. Here on FFXIV he's settled into something more like a predator biding his time until he has to strike, a coiled snake waiting to be disturbed. He's always himself, but few people aren't unsettled by him. @kskellington's A'kiva likes him for some reason. F'yire does. When I shipped him with F'yire my "friends" at the time (who I don't hang around anymore) hated it ooc but they work really well. His role is a leader but right now he's secondary to F'yire, mostly because he wants F'yire to do more of the work honestly. He's also a bit lazy.
Tumblr media
Inxli is driven by his grief and the determination to prevent more if he can. First he lost his birth-family to an accident and ended up on Ul'dah's streets protecting Twinkle, then later after he thought he had a happy ever after with Jinx and Thorne...they broke up then Jinx was murdered. Inxli is rage and vengeance but justified usually. He's also optimism, as pessimistic as he can sound, he can't give up because he's always hoping there's something better around the corner. And he found Reckless who proves every day things can be good. And Thorne's rubbed off on him too. So he swings wildly between someone who tries very hard to be hopeful and just...and almost living long enough to become the villain. I told a friend yesterday I always feel like Inxli is one step away from becoming a super villain. Luckily Reckless and Thorne keep him from crossing the line. He's only himself around Thorne and Reckless, and sometimes Twinkle. Twinkle was gone a long time but they've always been close so they've been working on reconnecting. As for his role in society, he's become the leader of misfits and black sheep, and he likes that a lot. They're his people, giving them a home is his goal.
Tumblr media
Jules is at his heart driven by kindness and the need to help others. He's a fluffy teddy bear of an Ishgardian. He's only truly himself when he's alone with Rafe though thanks to Ishgard's restrictive society with heavy expectations. Being overly kind, soft, gooey, and a bit silly just isn't what people expect from him. Right now he's a Deacon so he's high ranked in Ishgard's church but mostly because he wanted the position to help others better.
Tumblr media
Kiril is a kind heart that's had enough of the pain the world gave her so it froze over. She is, at her core, sweet and gentle, quiet, loving. Her past, however, has shaped her into something cold and vengeful and she takes delight in punishing those that deserve it. Those that would hurt others. She's only herself around Niyx in private he's the only one she trusts. She stands at his side as a leader/protector of their group.
Tumblr media
Lyle is at his heart the desperate need to live life to the fullest and regret nothing. That's what drives him. Is he ever truly himself? With Sia, maybe, but he's spent so long pretending to be other things I'm not sure if he even knows who his real self is anymore. His role in society is an adventurer but he's not very good at it. Not for lack of trying, just for lack of understanding how things work no matter how much Sia tries to explain it.
Tumblr media
Myth is the 'god won't let me die' character. He's actually so dark and twisted by his past and his pain I don't let him out much, even though my partner doesn't mind him. Even though I gave him his fairy tale he wanted he's still carrying all that pain and a different sort of view on life and death because he's immortal and doesn't want to be. He is justice and the need to protect others. He was a healer at his core and failed when it mattered the most so now he prevents damage if he can or punishes if he can't. He's himself around Durriken and their family. Most people don't see the soft gooey cinnamon roll cuddly fluffball he is on the inside under all that armor. He's also a silly sappy romantic. His role in society is a protector and warrior for justice, a shield. But he can also be a mender if he has to be. He is very much a good person who should have been changed by all the pain, and was, but it made him into a sharpened weapon to punish evil instead of twisting him into evil.
Tumblr media
Niyx is the good honorable just knight...I just twisted it and made him a vampire/undead and let him be raised by monsters. At his core he's good, but the way he sees the world is different than someone like Rulian sees it and he has his own version of justice. Most of the time he is himself because he doesn't care if you like it or not. But usually only Kiril and his son, or the people who are loyal to him see the warmth and caring underneath. He's the leader and shield for his people.
Tumblr media
Persis is joy and mischief at his core. He's here to brighten the world and make people laugh and just shine so others can shine. To get them to put down the heavy weight they're carrying and dance in the sunshine for a little while to renew them so they can keep going. He's usually himself but he's pretty good at reading a room and adapting who he is to fit whatever crowd he's in. His role in society right now is scrambling to figure out how to be married to a High House lord in Ishgard still. He's gotten very good at twisting the rumor mill in their favor and making himself loved by the locals as much as he can though.
Tumblr media
Rafe at his core is the belief that people are good and should be given a chance to prove it but also the belief that evil should be punished. He's actually pretty well balanced and what an Inquisitor -should- be but often aren't. He's only himself with Jules though. He can be quite caring and loving and he has a desperate need to comfort and help others but mostly he does it through Jules. His place he feels is to keep safe those who can't keep themselves safe, like Jules. He's a shield, a protector, and will bring swift and ruthless justice to those that deserve it.
Tumblr media
Reckless is driven these days mostly by his love for Inxli and a need to help him succeed and to build the happy life they both deserve together. It's given him purpose he needed and lacked before. He's normally free to be himself and doesn't care what people think of it. If he's being loud, flirty, bawdy...you're fine. If he goes quiet he's in predator mode and dangerous. Because he is a predator, though these days he strikes mostly on the side of good. Mostly. He's not afraid to take what he or his family need to survive through means others might find questionable though.
Tumblr media
I think we all know what Rulian is. He's honor, justice...but he's also deep love and caring for those who are around him, undying loyalty. And, of course, unyielding like his brother. You can bend him, you can knock him down, he might crack, but he can't be broken and he will heal stronger for it. He's very much a strike me down and I'll become more powerful sort. His role in society is a shield/protector but he's also a natural leader even if he'd prefer not to have so many put such heavy trust in him at times because he's very much aware he's a mortal man that can fail.
Tumblr media
Sadek has a life debt to Eryk. Eryk gave him a second chance when Sadek felt he didn't deserve one, gave him a new chance to start over, and Sadek took it. He hasn't looked back. He is Eryk's guardian (and now Fabian's) and that his who and what he is, completely. He doesn't trust himself to have a life or responsibilities outside of that, I think. But he's happy with how he is. He's never really himself though, at least the one that existed before this. He only relaxes around Eryk, Talia, and Fabian. Sometimes Eryk's sons or Rulian see a bit more of him than others but not often. He's a very guarded individual and prefers to be seen as aloof and mysterious. His friends know he's undyingly loyal and he's got their backs though.
Tumblr media
Talia is confidence and the desire to make her life the best it can be as well as her family's. She gets what she wants, even if she has to use methods others deem a bit questionable. She's very much inspired by the more mischievous sorts of deities in mythology, fae creatures/nymphs/goddesses and has that playful sort of I know things you don't to her. But she also can turn and be terrible vengeance if you cross her. She's a leader and protector for her family and likes to think she's a good mother despite her sons coming out the way they did. She's motherly to a lot of people who need it, like Rulian and others who lost their parental guidance early on. She tries to be a safe place people can trust for advice but her bold personality sometimes clashes with that.
Tumblr media
Taxir is kindness and healing personified. He exists to mend the world around him and the people close to him. That's what his purpose is, he knows this, and he takes great joy in it usually. Sometimes, like in Diajik's case, it's a bit frustrating but he is also able to accept that he can't fully heal some, he can only help them survive. He is love, deep and unconditional. He's akin to a guru or a spiritual leader, a father, a guiding light for those struggling in the dark. He's also aware he's not perfect though and can still fail so he also tries to be cautious and that keeps him humble and open-minded to learning.
Tumblr media
Thorne is eternal optimism and the drive to succeed. He won't give up no matter how many times you knock him down, he's almost impossible to anger or frustrate. He lets bad times fall off of him like sand from Costa, brushing it off and going on with his day. He usually ends up in a leadership role but that can be a bit alarming because he's also chaotic think quick and outside of the box with crazy plans. Need a friend? He's got your back!
Tumblr media
Tim has been lost to his curse and the pursuit to fix it for many turns now. He's just now coming to realize he could maybe be more than that. He adventured a bit with Thorne as Thorne's stalwart protector, and he's very protective of Inxli too. Now that they don't need him anymore, and the research with the others seems to be heading in a direction that's more hopeful, he's faced with what to do with his life beyond research. If they're cured does he even want to be? He's decide no, he doesn't really want to, a tonberry is what he has become and he's okay with it. He has friends who are okay with him as he is, and now even finding love with Twilight maybe. So he's become acceptance and learning how to deal with what life gives you and turning it around to make a good life out of it anyway.
Tumblr media
Twilight just wants to be loved and valued, really. In Thorne's adventuring group he always felt forgotten (Thorne had trouble remembering his name!). He had to watch Thorne get completely unappreciated by Jinx and that was hard for him, missed his chance with Thorne and Thorne ended up with their OTHER group member Clover...and now he's just kind of lost. He's a mess of regretful life choices and not knowing where to go and what to do with himself. he has a fun life, being Bram's fan, having the boutique, working at Glitter Hall sometimes, having lots of fans and lovers...but it's not really satisfying deep down and he can't figure out why. But adventuring with Tim seems to be a step in the right direction.
Tumblr media
Twinkle is a mix of Thorne's eternal optimism and Inxli's drive to succeed and prosper. She's going to make this world better and you better either go with it or get out of her way! She's a protector of the lost and vulnerable. She's a free paladin who believes in justice and goodness. But she also married a pirate so...sometimes the ends justify the means still. Much like Inxli she tries to walk a good path but if she has to deviate to drag others back onto the good path too she'll do it. Like Inxli she's been in the depths of the abyss and she's taking as many people out of it with her as she can.
Tumblr media
Vinnie really needs played more (soon! Soon his misadventures with Blue will be at the front). Vinnie's very much the good knight sort, even more so than Thorne, but he's also Thorne's undying optimism and the need to help others. He's more serious than Thorne, and quieter, but deep down they're very alike and the best friends anyone could ever have. He's a protective sort and confident enough to lead. Right now he's Blue's guardian because Blue gets a little lost easily still.
