Link groaned, drained and in pain. He didn’t know where in the world he was, his last coherent thought was—

Wait, those lizalfos!

Blinkign rapidly to get rid of his grogginess, his anxiety was immediately set at ease when he heard… humming? And a harp?

Link grimaced a little to turn his head from where he lay under a tree, sunlight shimmering through the leaves like golden rain. Glowing faintly in the shade was Sky, strumming a lyre and humming to himself with his eyes closed.

“What is that?” he asked softly. Honestly his first question probably should’ve been where are we but the tune was mesmerizing and calming. Not to mention he had a vague memory of being carried, so… he figured he’d end up somewhere less hostile than where he last remembered.

Sky’s eyes snapped open, and Link was a little sad that he’d interrupted him. “Link! You’re alright!”

“Yeah…” he slurred, slowly sitting up. “Think so. But what were you humming?”

Sky watched him worriedly, putting his lyre away, but his eyes softened and a nostalgic, gentle smile pulled at his lips briefly. “It’s a lullaby I made up for my daughter.”

Link watched him a moment, a tenderness on his face that he’d gotten glimpses of, and he smiled. Then he stood, tentatively testing his body. He didn’t feel bad, just a little tired.

Stepping onto the road, he stretched, trying to ease the weariness out, and the sunlight already made him feel infinitely better. Sky, however, was not convinced.

“Link, I’m so sorry!” He immediately started to babble, wrapping him in a hug. “I should have warned you before giving you the medallion! I’m a dud as a mentor!!”

Link was simultaneously filled with exasperation and fondness, mildly concerned at the wobble in the spirit’s voice. He’d probably be more sympathetic if Sky’s hug wasn’t choking the life out of him though.

I have no words to express how much I love this! I've reread it many times already and you captured Sky and Link perfectly, and omg I love that sky was humming a lullaby he made for his daughter! 🥹💕

I love your writing so much and your talent to make every little scene so unforgettable, thank you so much you have blessed my day! I've been feeling down for a whole month because I can't find time to draw personal things, and this really made me feel better!

there are so many amazing and powerful benders in atla but what i love about zuko is that whether or not he can use his bending in that moment has zero (0) bearing on how much he’s going to absolutely kick your ass. no bending? that’s fine - he’s got swords. no swords or bending? that’s fine - he’s literally just going to beat you up. if you’re REALLY unlucky then you get all three. as a treat.

in terms of voice for him you could think about whether he'd speak softly or loudly, how quickly he'd speak, would he emphasise particular words or syllables that perhaps others wouldn't? any catchphrases or words that he uses often? does he talk with his hands, express his feelings with a particular part of his face (furrowing eyebrows, scrunching the nose, etc) or is it more difficult to read his emotions? any nervous habits or tells that he's lying? things like that which add more dimension are useful when characterising (i do it even for just writing). hope this was helpful :P
