Idk I feel like if warcaster is such a crucial feat that the vast opinion is that it's not worth playing a caster without it then it should be built into the class. It might not have been balanced a few editions ago but at this point everything has changed to the point that it's expected if you primarily cast then you take that feat, and it's frustrating to lose access to all of the other feats that might better flavor a character or just spark joy all in the hope that you can just stay relevant in a fight.

one can generally assume that any character I play is gonna be canon divergent bc I play my interpretation of the character rather than adhere strictly to the subject material. I use it as a reference and launch base, but I'm gonna change or adjust things to make the character my own. not to forgive actions that they've done or to change them so far from the original character (otherwise I'd just make an oc), but I don't hold the subject material as a holy grail.
