On rainy days, is your f/o the type to want to stay in? Such a cold, wet day is best inside a warm and safe home. Maybe you two share a blanket by the window, watching as the rain drops down the glass. Even being silly and trying to have a race with the droplets. You two have your own cups of something warm like tea or hot chocolate. Not much needs to be said, you two are just enjoying each other's presence. One slice of time shared between the both of you.
Or maybe they are the type to want to go outside! If the rain isn't gonna stop why not enjoy it! Going out with them, as they hold you close under the umbrella so you don't get too wet (or maybe you are holding the umbrella). Trying to keep you from cars that that hit large puddles. All the while laughing as you jump into smaller puddles together. Your shoes are gonna be soaked by the end but it's worth it as the rain hits the umbrella as you go along your path.

hello!! do you have any recommendations for books or essays about becoming a better reader of poetry? I love the poems you post and esp love when your tags go into what you got out of it / understood from it, bc it’s always so much more than I was able to interpret on my own. and I want to become a better reader and learn how to really sit with a poem and get into all its layers but idk where to start.
I stand behind the recs in this post, but since you want to focus on poetry and poetics, in addition to William Empson's The Seven Types of Ambiguity and Helen Vendler's Poems, Poets, and Poetry, I'd also recommend Christopher Ricks' The Force of Poetry, I. A. Richards' Practical Criticism, and Jorge Luis Borges' The Craft of Verse. They are all beautifully written, by people whose love of the form transcends academia and becomes, at times, a kind of secular worship. I loved poetry before I fully understood language, back when it was just incomprehensible mouthwords my parents repeated to get me to sleep; I'd have loved poetry even if I never toiled a day in the hermeneutics mines, like my grandmother reciting Eugene Onegin after her dementia cleared everything else from the table—she wasn't sure what it meant, all she knew was that this was the nicest thing she had. Isn't that a kind of faith?
There are other good books about how to read poetry, but these were the ones that initiated me into a conspiracy of words, they taught me to be curious about why I liked a poem, how to take pleasure in its vivisection without worrying I'd kill that faith—like martyrs, good poems never fall apart when you open them up, they yield. If anything, the practice of explication has made me even more of a fanatic. I hope it does the same for you!
If there are poets you already like, I can get more specific about recs—I'm partial to modernist poetry, but that just means I like following breadcrumb trails of allusions to lots of different literary traditions and can tell you where the bodies, hatchets and/or treasures are buried.

interesting to me that when ao3 goes down it's always 'number one trending topic', 'thousands of people talking about missing reading fics', and all sorts of other fanfic withdrawal symptoms, generally just feeling, and being impacted by, the Absence of Fanfic
but it's never 'leaves a comment on fanfic', 'gives kudos and recommends to friends', 'follows author/interacts with them in any way shape or form and otherwise lets them know how much you value their writing and fanfiction in general'

I'm just rambling here, (idk where else to rant abt this XD) but what is even considered popular on Tumblr? I use Twitter so much that I have no idea what makes you an instantly recognisable account on Tumblr,,,, like I'd consider your account popular because it's like Oh yeah!!! That's wheredidalltheusersgo! He has banger takes! But.. Like,,, is 200 notes average every post considered popular? Is 900? What is Tumblr!? I'm scared and lost on this app
Honestly, I just roll with it and don't really think about my follower count or the amount of notes I have
All I care about is if my mutuals like my stuff, which they do
I'm just busy taking over certain character tags (don) and making wild rarepairs
However, my biggest achievement is appearing on the list of top blogs in the Geoff tag!

I know most of the käärijä-related things I’ve posted/reblogged are literally memes but on a serious note all those posts about our silly little finnish man make me so happy. for years I've been struggling with body dysmorphia and disordered eating (especially around this time of year) and it's fucking terrible but everyone hyping up käärijä and his normal-looking body is just so nice to see. he's really out there saying everyone should just wear whatever they want no matter their body type + his fans love him exactly the way he looks and are being so body positive. hugging all of you rn

There is a reason I like to take screenshots. (Note the mug warmer for all that coffee/tea I used to let go cold.)

the sun is a painter. every morning, it casts the world in warm yellow haze. for the rest of the day, it stares at its creation, slowly viewing it at different angles. until at night it covers the world in a soft red glow, before going to sleep and doing the whole the over again tomorrow.

i’ve talked about how mob movies/the mafia trilogy in general treats women, but i was thinking about it and like. wives and mothers are the most fridged people in the trilogy. like, okay, let’s take a look at some of the mothers, right? and it’s like.
in MDE sarah’s mother is dead, and painted as a villain in sarah’s eyes (we’ll come back to her later). sarah herself, once she marries tommy, eventually loses everything when tommy flips, and has to live the rest of her life under an assumed identity and then without tommy after vito and joe roll up.
in M2, maria scaletta has a deadbeat drunk for a husband, and eventually dies of illness and a broken heart, while vito is in prison.
in M3, there’s sarah burke (danny and nicki’s mother), perla robinson, virginia marcano (giorgi’s mother). all of them, dead of some ‘illness’, most likely, since the only way to shove women aside is to have them die of ‘illness’, whatever the hell that entails.
(and these are just mothers, yk. like. let’s not go into the wives. betty. frank’s wife, serafina. lauretta, who is the only wife alive, and we never see her once. wives consigned to the dossiers, which might as well make them non-existent.)
circling back to sarah’s mother, who is unnamed, and we’re only ever given her initials. right, so sarah tells tommy that her mother was “an ugly, jealous drunk”, and like she’d throw shit at luigi and all that, but honestly like sometimes i wonder if it was just a frustrated woman stuck in a life that didn’t suit her. that she wanted to part in, and couldn’t voice her frustrations out to.
like. cmon. luigi was the most feared hitman in lost heaven, and if he was running with the mob from his youth, he would’ve been with peppone first, then salieri. and then he gets married, to this woman who probably doesn’t even have the first clue to what he does--- until she finds out.
what do you do when someone you love is a killer and a criminal and has enough blood on his hands to paint the walls of your house red? pair that up with running a household, trying to take care of a young, impressionable daughter, a daughter who takes after her father so fiercely that there’s nothing you can do but sit back and watch?
like. we’ve all seen the letter in the prison. mrs marino asking for luigi to give up gunning people down, give up his supposed affairs, and all that mob-life stuff. like... i don’t know. sarah probably only thinks of her mother badly because of how much she loves her father, and how much this life, this thing of theirs, had its grip on her. the mob was all she knew. and i’m sure her mother tried to sway her from it, tried to get her to live a simple, quiet life, but god, sarah couldn’t just leave her father.
“a ugly, jealous drunk”, but when you realize exactly what position mrs marino was in... a killer for a husband, a daughter so deep in the mob clutches. she must’ve turned to drink, started to lash out at luigi in resentment for hiding who he was, for the company he kept, for all the secrets their marriage was built on.
these games have no sympathies for women who can see through the lies of men, the mafia, and the world they live in. none at all.
