Three ships: Obviously Royai and Griddlehark are my two greatest loves. And although the fandom isn't really as active on here any more (although please correct me if I'm wrong because I'd love to get back into it!), Todd and Viola from Chaos Walking, my beloved.

First ever ship: The first ship I was ever involved in like actual fandom communities for was Edward and Bella back on a Myspace Twilight group lmao. Probably the earliest actual one I can think of was Harry and Hermione when I was in like, mid-elementary school (so only the first four books were out), although as I got a little older I realized it wasn't actually because I liked them as a couple, it was because I heavily identified with Hermione and I myself liked Harry 💀

Last song: Apologize by OneRepublic off of my Spotify Top 100 (it's a staple of my Alecto playlist which I had on heavy rotation this year)

Last film: The Eras Tour movie! Before that.... I can't even properly remember to be honest. I haven't seen very many movies lately. Maybe Across the Spider-verse? Oh jeez, that was all the way in the summer, wasn't it?

Currently watching: Great British Bake Off! I don't watch a lot of TV and really only turn it on for like 15-20 minutes at a time while I eat meals, so an episode can last me a while lol. Recently if I finish the week's episode before the next Friday, I've been picking through Next in Fashion (the low stakes, relatively low drama, non-narrative structure of these sorts of shows is great for casual piecemeal watching when I'm low on brain power). Open to recs for after this season of GBBO is over though!

Currently reading: I've started the Ao Haru Ride manga (I adored the show and recently bought the full manga set secondhand), and I'm in the middle of a bunch of books that I've paused due to not having enough brain power to devote to them, sadly! I want to read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes this weekend though so I can see the movie (I got halfway through when it was released and then paused for the above reasons), and I want to polish off The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and Battle of the Linguist Mages before the end of the year.

Currently consuming: Water with Walmart brand Mio black cherry caffeine mix lol

Currently craving: I have baked spaghetti in the oven for lunch, which I can smell all the way from my bedroom, so that and the garlic bread I'm about to make 😋

The title is from Beneath The Brine by The Family Crest, which I firmly believe to be peak Royai angst material.

i could literally go on forever though about my faves. and i have so many!!! which i love for me hehehe :)

ok. so. this fic is my baby. my first born, if u will. let you love me is just. idk. domesticity and ~drama~ and royai all wrapped into one. it was a major comfort to write. the development of the relationship between roy and riza, and all which stood between them was cool to figure out. not to mention giving them their own backstory and own challenges!! that was so fun (and also, cue the ✨ melodrama ✨ for the extra feels hehehehe SO FUN). and omg. riza having a kid and them just having such a wholesome relationship. and then introducing roy into it as well, and having james taking to him so quickly. an absolute TREAT to work on. i still listen to the playlist i created to listen to while writing it today and love it w all my heart with all the memories it sparks 🥰 it's a pure joy. so it makes me endlessly happy when others leave little comments and enjoy it as much as i did working on it. because writing this fic is the most enjoyment i have ever had working on something. pure joy

this next fic is also my baby. my child. the love of my life. hit and run was soooooo fun to work on. it all started as a night out in edinburgh, going on a drunk ghost tour into the vaults of north bridge. next thing i knew, a royai fic pops into my brain and its this beauty right here. stunnin. i really tried to incorporate some of my own country's history into it, blending it in with royai, which is why i love it. and again, it doesn't get a lot of attention nowadays, but when people like it enough to read and drop a wee comment, it sparks so much joy, let me tell u. it makes my day <3 it's probably my most re-read fic from me hahaha

ANOTHER CHILD. my bby. my inferno is just..... so happy. so free from angst - which i wanted!!! i didn't want any drama for royai. there is life drama, just like there is for everyone. but it's mostly just them being happy. in love. doting on each other. being successful and achieving their dreams. so when ppl comment on it and tell me how they love it.......... (one or two have even told me its their comfort fic like !!!!!!!!!!! 😳 wtf!!! 😳😳🥹) it makes my heart so happy. i adore this one sm

special shout out to this one. the way it was, was the biggest, most daunting project i have ever worked on. it took me years to even be mentally prepared to write it haha. there were struggles. there was plenty of hate for it, weirdly, lmao they were wildin - which even pushed me to the point of not even wanting to finish it (i remember conversations with my close friends, offering only to finish it and share it with them, rather than posting it). but guess what, ya bitch overcame it, and i did finish it. i fucking did it!!! and yes, there is melodrama. there is angst, possibly too much of it. but ehhhh who cares. i still love it and that's all that matters. it's another one of my children and i adore it, faults and all 🥰 so whenever i get a wee comment on it i just "audshfdg aww 🥺🥺🥹" it makes those comments even more special to me :)

this song almost speaks for itself in terms of roy’s feelings for riza’s…she’s his focus, and she’s his inspiration, and she’s the person who will end him if the time comes, and he didn’t think he should fall in love with her, but he did anyway. its beeeeeeautiful

two. moondust by jaymes young

i think this song is nice from either/both perspectives…again, it’s kind of self explanatory, but it just focuses on their dedication to the military/making  up for their pasts taking precedence over their feelings for one another.

three. somewhere only we know by keane

Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I’m getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you’re gonna let me in I’m getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin 

[starts crying] i love them so much. this feels more roy’s pov, but it could work for either. it fits them really well in all the saddest ways, like…where is their “somewhere”? imo it’s the graves of berthold, the ishvalan child riza buried, and hughes. but it could also be more metaphorical. either way, im crying

riza’s pov. i mean, honestly, “I’ll be your eyes 'til yours can shine”? thats too close to home. this is the happiest song that makes me think of these two, and it’s nice, it’s like…it’s just them, y’know? together til the end no matter where they go.

five. skin and bones by marianas trench

riza’s pov. this is more…vindictive and angsty, opposite of the last one lmao, but this song really of the makes me think of him burning her back and the guilt/anger surrounding it. a lot of…riza feeling like she gave him flame alchemy too easily and regretting it. love the angst. the “you’re fucking pushing me” sends my brain to the scenes with envy in chapter 95, too. more angst :D

bonus. montezuma by fleet foxes

this one is harder to explain, ‘cause it’s more the vibe of the song that fits roy/riza rather than the lyrics. if you look at the lyrics in a really vague way, it fits in a sense of regret and longing for their lives pre-ishval. but mostly, i just remember listening to this song on repeat for hours while i re-read fma and some fics…so it’s very royai to me lol

So @the-flame-and-hawks-eye unofficially tagged me to share my lock screen, my home screen, and the last song I listened to. (She said it’s for science but it’s really because we have the same lock screen lmao)

UNFORTUNATELY the Android Moto phones (mine is a Droid Turbo) are stupid as all hell and there is no option to have a home screen photo that is different from the lock screen unless I root my device (which I am not about to attempt), so my lock and home screen have the same picture. I am always going to be salty about it because I can only have one fanart at a time to look at. >_<

ANYWAYS, my lock screen is a beautiful piece of art done by @kristicles for Royai Week 2016 and I honest to god sometimes turn on my phone screen just to stare at it because it’s so beautiful.

And the last song I listened to is War by Poets of the Fall. And if you look closely you can see that it’s on a playlist called “Royai” because of course I have a Royai playlist. This song is honest to goodness one of the best Royai songs that I’ve heard and Poets of the Fall is a fucking incredible band hailing from Finland and if you haven’t listened to them you’re seriously missing out.
