Nico saying that Lewis gives his daughters boxes of presents every Christmas just got caught in my mind.

Imagine you were a mixed race boy born in Hertfordshire, different from everyone else around you. Bullied in school, being raised by your father to compete in a sport where money is very much of essence and you and your family do not have a lot of it. And then you meet this other boy who comes from the kind of life you dream to live one day. You're friends and fierce competitors. You find solace in each other. You visit Monaco for the first time with your friend, dreaming up the life you will have when you make it, when you beat out of the mould that the world thought it could capture you in.

And then you two grow through the ranks and you're at the pinnacle of your sport and you have what it takes to win and the world recognises that you can win. And you win. You win with your friend and fiercest competitor by your side fighting with you for those wins, and this fighting ruins something something that was valuable to both of you when you were still innocent and unsullied by life.

But despite everything that went into the doing and undoing of this relationship, you still realise that this person you once called a friend has a life and family beyond your bitter dynamic. He has children, and children need love and affection and good memories. And you're a better man now so you understand that. So you make sure the kids get gifts on Christmas. And you make sure of it every year. Afterall, if you met someone you loved deeply when you were both kids, wouldn't you feel a pang of nostalgia when they had kids. Wouldn't you try to extend the warmth that you couldn't find for your friend to his children. Afterall, whatever happens during childhood basically remains with you forever.

I genuinely cannot describe how deeply DEVASTATED I am about riz being the only one who can take stress tokens for the others. Chill, you all. Night Vale has been ongoing for around 11 years and it's yet to show any sign that it intends to end any time soon, so you can take your time. Even if it ended soon, there is time.

WTNV does this very special thing of making the town feel alive, not every citizen gets an arc or even a spotlight, but they're constant, they're there, living their lives. Those little details, little mentions of everyone growing and continuing living as time pass make it feel so nice.

And then, one day, Night Vale surprises you, and, oh, hey, remember that one intern whose death wasn't confirmed? Well, he has come back, and if you remember him and remember what happened to him at the time, you'll be able to connect the dots of the current arc faster.

It's past Thanksgiving, which means it's my favorite time of year: Get Irrationally Angry At A Fictional Child For Getting Locomotive Specs Wrong!

This little shit confidently goes on about how the locomotive pulling the Polar Express is an S-3 Baldwin built in 1931, with all the confidence of an unchecked politician. He is EXTREMELY wrong about this - Baldwin built the S-3 Class Berkshires for the Erie in 1928.

Pere Marquette 1225, here actually wearing the Polar Express livery, is a Lima Locomotive Works 2-8-4 Berkshire built in 1941.

PM 1225 is an N-1 Class Berkshire and was formerly on display on the campus of Michigan State, which is where Chris Van Allsburg saw her as a kid and was struck by her number being 12/25. He later used this as inspiration for the Polar Express book, which he both wrote and illustrated. Today she's in the loving care of the Steam Railroading Institute, who restored her to operational status and take great care of her.

Every year, I am forced to witness this child being so unfathomably wrong, and every year, I am filled with unspeakable rage over him. I know it's extremely petty and that he isn't real, but nonetheless, my irrational anger persists even though him learning to be wrong is a massive part of his story arc.
