I wish the metaphor of will and nicos strings being unraveled as they told more stories was something that rick used more in the sun and the star. bc they really did treat each story like it was a thread that they weaved into this beautiful tapestry, but as they looked over it they realized it had several mistakes so they had to unbraid parts and work out the kinks. and I just thought that was kinda beautiful😭
uhh anyways 7.5/10 I really liked it the second time around

Another shot of that stump. It makes me so sad that this tree is dead, it must have been massively tall in life

Much as I love a cool action scene and clever humor and heartfelt character acting, my favourite anime sequence is actually a very small one mixed into the middle of a series. In the episode, the protagonist does something truly horrible that cannot be undone. It has massive ramifications outside of himself and he's turned away by the one person he thought he could rely on as a result. And yet even as he's told he can never be forgiven for his wrong-doing, he's also told that he still belongs in the world. Maybe there isn't a place for him with this person and he can no longer stay in this specific spot, but in the greater wider world, in the order of the universe, everything belongs. Everything has a space and is meant to be there, mistakes and all, imperfections and all, loneliness and all.
"You belong in this world, no matter where you might be."
The ostracised character takes off on his own. At the end of the day, he lays in the grass to sleep and looks up through the leaves into the sky. He lifts a hand, backdropped by the night and a gentle, pensive soundtrack. He's a part of the world around him, a small interconnected piece of the larger whole. He belongs in the world.
That moment continues to stay with me.
