Let’s just say I have a lot on my plate at the moment but I’m so grateful for all the support you guys have shown me through these past busy months. Thank you as always for your patience with my slow updates and maybe I’ll find some time to sketch something for the TMNT AU Competition later on @tmntaucompetition Hopefully some of these projects will be finally wrapped up in the next few months and I can return to Replica 100%
Also fun fact about me. Sometimes I get a little carried away with world building. Normally my friends and collaborators keep me on a tight leash, but now I’m completely unsupervised and reaping what I’ve deeply sewn. For better or for worse.
NOTE: Don't be scared, my question shouldn't have much impact on the actual story of Replica... I just like to know all the little details.

Sometimes I recall what GOT did to the character of Daenerys Targaryen and I still can't wrap my mind around it. The single worst bit of character assassination I have ever seen in fictional media. I don't get it. They took the heroic protagonist who freed slaves and saved the realm from a zombie apocalypse and in the penultimate episode had her randomly slaughter thousands of innocent people FOR NO REASON!!
Cersei was already defeated, Daenerys already won, she got KL. The people of KL were not fighting against her like the slave masters or the Lannisters. And it's not even like the Mad King because even the Mad Kind only wanted to burn down KL with Wildfire because Tywin got through the gates and he wanted to take everyone down with him. Daenerys had NO REASON! They just wrote the protagonist of the series randomly massacre people in the penultimate episode for no reason - it's not madness, strategy or villainy! NO REASON.
It would be like if Tolkien did not finish LOTR and D&D got their hands on the adaptation (*shivers*) and there would be no Gollum and Frodo would end up not destroying the Ring and becoming a dark lord, the final big bad even more powerful than Sauron himself, to subvert expectations and surprise viewers...
Or if George Lucas stopped with The Empire Strikes Back and D&D finished the trilogy with The Return of the Jedi and Luke joins forces with Vader and Palpatine to subvert expectations....
And EVEN all of those endings would still have made more sense than Daenerys randomly massacring thousands... FOR NO REASON!!

can’t stop thinking about how when the HIV/AIDS epidemic started, people thought that you could contract the virus simply by touching an infected person. so in the something bad is happening reprise where dr. charlotte pulls marvin aside and tells him this virus seems to spread from one man to another, she could’ve been implying he should refrain from even hugging/holding/comforting whizzer because he might be putting himself at risk

I think one of the reasons why the theory that Arya will go away at the end of the story because she’s too far gone to assimilate back into society is so unconvincing is because she literally spends the latest two books (AFFC and ADWD) doing that very thing! Like her training hasn’t been about her being a reclusive murderous hermit. She literally spends the two books talking to people, making friends, integrating into new cultures. She’s around people all the damn time! And even if we bring up her ACOK and ASOS arcs which were rather dark in nature, she’s still around people interacting with them, still being a part of society (even if she’s quite low on the totem pole in those books).
Arya is a character who feels so strongly and whose arc is often dictated by how she interacts with the people around her. So to take that away from her is not only a bad understanding of her character arc (not to be condescending or anything), but it’s also not very satisfying as far as character/narrative progression goes. Because if the narrative has proven so far that even in her darkest moments, Arya can laugh and love and be such a passionate member of society, how then does it make sense for her to go away and be on her own?? How does that make sense when AFFC and ADWD prove that she still loves being around people?

I really enjoy the picture of your Star Wars legend interacting with Star Wars Canon. Have you ever consider drawing a pic of Ben Skywalker hanging out with Rey and what would their dynamic look like.

This fight was a gift to me personally for making a surprisingly sweet and ridiculous fight somehow work between a half-naked comedian side character and arguably one of the most reprehensible people in jjk

i unironically love the Rat Grinders so much and its so funny to me that everyone on tumblr has jumped onto hating them so vehemently; these kids are transmigration light novel protagonists and it's hilarious. they reached level 100 killing nothing but slimes etc etc
that crap is some of the most soul crushing work imaginable. i will forcequit any video game the moment it's clear that grinding is the only way to advance because i hate it so much. they're not having fun. they're not enjoying the work. they got stuck with a DM who thinks XP leveling is worthwhile and they're slogging through it in the most tedious and boring way possible. they're 'powergaming' in only the most loose definition of the term. they're having the worst high school experience of anyone. they've traumabonded over spending 33 hours a week in abject misery and have now turned feral

Okay LISTEN. Kylux has such beautiful parallels and opposites in their life stories that it's almost beautiful.
The height of Ben's life was him being young. He was naturally gifted, had a great family, and a promising future. There were problems, but he had friends, and he was thriving. Then he grew up and renounced his identity as Ben and things went downhill.
Hux's childhood on the other hand was his low point. It wasn't until adulthood that he rose up and became stronger.
Kylo killed his father because he loved him. Snoke saw it as a weakness and made him do it. It tore him apart.
Hux killed his father because he hated him. He needed to thrive and that had to happen with Brendol's death.
Hux is reserved and handles his emotions accordingly, rarely ever doing more than raising his voice whenever the occasion permits it.
Kylo can't control his emotions and only acts in anger, unable to ground himself as well as Hux does.
They're opposites but also so much alike. Violent, self serving, desiring full control over the throne.
So alike yet so different. I mourn the loss of the duel of the fates script because in that they actually did come together. Rey refused Kylo's help so Kylo took Hux's hand. Let him lead, obeyed enough to shave his entire head simply because Hux found it too disorderly. Original Hux was fascinated by the force, he wished he had it. While Kylo's life is ruined by it.
Sometimes, I think that Kylo and Hux's relationship was tarnished just to make Rey and Kylo seem more probable. Those two were stronger together, and the writers tore them apart. But they're perfect together, opposite yet one in the same.

I just finished episode 6 of Burrow's End and I have SO MANY THOUGHTS.
I just keep thinking about expectations, and the way Aabria. . . plays with them. But also — Ok back up because one of the things I noticed about ACOFAF is that Aabria is really good at listening to players, taking what do they do and say, and in return saying I believe you, then weaving it into the narrative. (The Green Hunter is the most obvious example of this.) And she's doing this with Burrow's End in a way that's even more intense than it was in ACOFAF. . . it's not manipulative, and 'genre subversion' isn't quite the concept I'm looking for. . . it's playing into the player's expectations. She's holding up a big mirror but the players (and us as an audience!) aren't realising that it's a reflection of the path they just carved out, they think they're seeing a new hallway. It's not quite a feedback loop, but it is more of characters latching on to an idea and RUNNING with it and not stopping to question or wonder if maybe they should be running full-tilt ahead? Anyways I think I'm starting to understand why 5e was chosen for Burrow's End.

my knee-jerk response to horror (specifically jumpscare horror) is to just check out emotionally for a while, so the Nightmare path for Slay the Princess was a lot of just
