Do you have any Chenford fic recommendations?
I wasn't sure what kind of fics you liked, dear Anon, so I tried to include a little bit of everything. You can already search my tag Chenford fanfic to get you started. And here are some more suggestions (in no particular order) : I tried to only pick one fic by author to keep this list short and sweet, but really, I recommend checking all their stories

Gale Dekarios / Modern Girl in Faerun BG3 fanfic snippets & ideas
I've begun writing my very first fanfic, a "Modern Girl in Faerun" author self-insert for Baldur's Gate 3 in the tradition of the "Modern Girl of Thedas" fanfics for Dragon Age.
Premise: A woman who has played a lot of BG3 is transported to the world of BG3, where she uses her foreknowledge of events to pretty much obliterate canon. End game is Gale/MGIF romance, but at an even slower burn than in canon because he thinks she's batshit crazy.
It'll be a very long while before I'll be ready to begin posting chapters on AO3 because I'm writing the scenes out of order whenever inspiration strikes instead of chronologically. But I've been posting occasional snippets and ideas to Tumblr as I go, so here's a pinned post where I'll add links to that stuff in case someone wants to read a bunch of disjointed crap from a WIP.
Criticism is very welcome! I've never written a fanfic before so I fully expect it to be terrible, and I'd much appreciate any feedback that would help make it less terrible before the final draft goes up on AO3.
Scenes & Dialogue Snippets:
Is the somatic component an erection?
Um... what language is that?
200 gold, same as in town
How can you have the word ‘lesbian’ with no Lesbos and no Sappho?
Make. Me. A. Better. Offer.
Should I be jealous of Withers, Gale? I know he's your type.
The Book of Erotic Fantasy
Plot Ideas:
Fucked-up idea for why Gale has abs
I just wanted to fuck a hot wizard but now I have homework
Timeline of major events during Gale Dekarios's lifetime
Gale's and Tara's search for a cure to his condition was a race against time for them both
Gale was picked up in Yartar while headed north to die
The lack of Gale Dekarios / Modern Girl in Faerun author self-insert fanfics is killing me
The nautiloid could have plausibly realm-jumped to Earth
Soulless by Toril standards
Wizard of Waterdeep, meet Wizard of Excel!
Astarion is the only companion who immediately believes the MGIF
Traded My Spoons For Knives
Teamwork makes dream work, and my author self-insert dreams of taking a bath
There's only one God you should be worshipping, his name is Ed Greenwood
I'll be asking Withers to respec me from Accountant to Sorcerer at the earliest opportunity
Crippling existential crisis
I am receiving the Shovel Talk from a flying cat
Where's the CIA when you need them?
How to help Karlach in your post-game fix-it fics
Show us on the Waterdeep map where Gale's tower is???
My Big Fat Greek Wedding / Mamma Mia / Dragon Heist mashup
Oh, so you're the local Goddess of Magic? Well, let me introduce you to Hecate and Freyja and the Morrigan and Isis and...
I've already come up with at least three sequels
Tara would be all over Tav's baby bump
Waterdeep needs the Freedom of Information Act
Speedrunning the Enlightenment
Elminster's portal to Earth seems like an easier way home than asking Lae'zel to please hijack me another nautiloid
Gale as a "Faerun Character in Modern Earth"

The Great Escape Artist
Summary♡ Your very brilliant plan goes wrong after being captured by the Marines.
Pairing♡ Buggy x Reader
Warning♡ Brief descriptions of torture and blood, but nothing super graphic. Lightly suggestive NSFW
A/N♡ Ever since I saw the posts about LA!Buggy with a Harley Quinn inspired reader I haven't been able to get out of my head. This fanfic is fully based off this scene from suicide squad, "Harley's Great Escape scene". This is written with LA! Buggy in mind, but you can still read it as Anime Buggy too.
w/c♡ 3.8k
Tumblr media
This was the first time in your life that your mind had been quiet enough to let you think for an extended period of time. Which felt depressing, so, you pushed that to the back of your mind. There were more important things at the forefront of it. Like, for example, despite having been tortured for about an hour or so, this wasn't the worst day of your life. You knew what day that was.
That horrible day had caused you to be saddled with a 25-million berry bounty. A bounty that made shitty days a common occurrence thanks to the Marines. Not a day went by where you didn't spot your bounty poster with that number, courtesy of those pesky fuckers. It felt undeserved in your opinion. The only thing you had done that day was set yourself free. It's not your fault there was collateral damage along the way.
You did, however, feel quite satisfied when you learned it was higher than Arlong's. Irregardless of that satisfying discovery, that bounty still brought nothing but trouble your way. This time trouble led to you strung up by your wrists in chains, swaying from side-to-side.
"Who sent you?" The cadet had been asking the same question over and over. You were getting sick of it.
You didn't respond, you hadn't responded since he began asking. You began to hum to yourself as a distraction. The cadet grew impatient at the sound of your humming and placed his hands over your abdomen to send waves of electricity into your body.
You grit your teeth to hold back a scream, waiting for him to finally grow tired. Who knew this branch had a cadet with devil fruit powers specifically for torture? You did now. You learned his powers were using electric shocks.
The cadet finally let up and turned away from you to seemingly take a breather. He began to fiddle with a mini transponder snail, most likely to inform the pseudo Captain of the base that no progress was made. That man was surely was going to be displeased at that. You tried not to laugh at the thought of that man throwing a temper tantrum. Typical Marine behavior.
You've never met a single Marine that was actually a good person. Not even the actual Captain was a good person despite public opinion saying otherwise. Everyone in this little town said he was the best Captain they've ever had. Hardworking, responsible, and a loving husband.
Too bad that last trait was a lie.
That was something you found out the hard way. There were rumors going around that this specific branch had maps to the grandline. Which is what your beloved Captain was desperately searching for. You couldn't blame him for your plan going sideways. He didn't even know you were here.
Your Captain had his own stupid plan, which you said was brilliant (a lie), and you came up with your own. It was full proof. You'd done stuff like this a million times before.
You had put on your best dress, your favorite; a gorgeous red dress gifted to you by your Captain. You put makeup on to cover up your most recognizable features. Then, found the Marine Captain's favorite bar. From there, it was simple, you seduced him, and allowed him to take you back to the base to get the information you needed. It was going great, but then it all went to hell when he recognized you.
He had placed a hand on your cheek and accidently wiped some of the makeup off, revealing what was underneath.
Thankfully, you found out everything you needed before you put the bullet through his skull.
Everything was still going okay, until his damn wife showed up just after you killed him. She screamed at the top of her lungs at the sight of him. That was the moment you found out the pig was actually married. You compared the teary face to the one in a picture on his desk. Sweet picture, they were gazing into each others eyes, holding hands. He was wearing a fancy tux and she, in a beautiful white dress.
Their wedding day.
You were almost jealous till you remembered he was intent on cheating had you not stopped him. They were probably living a nice, calm life. Maybe they were happy (despite attempted infidelity) and thinking about starting a little family.
You let your eyes linger on that loving photograph for too long, which is how you got caught in the first place.
You were thinking too much whilst staring at it. Until a whole squadron showed up with rifles drawn and pointed at you. They, obviously, recognized your poster thanks to the makeup being smeared.
From there, the pseudo Captain took over and ordered to have captured to get information. That damn Captain was surprisingly cruel despite not bothering to get his own hands dirty.
He ordered to have you tortured till the end of the next day. If you died before then you'd just be sent back to your Captain, in pieces. If you had put in your own two cents, which you did just before he left, you said it was unoriginal, uninspired. Nothing flashy about that, as your dear Captain would say.
You'd received your first shock of many after saying that.
You twitched at the feeling of blood dripping from your nose, reminding you of your current situation. If that cadet succeeded in contacting that Captain you were screwed. Which meant it was time for your great escape.
With the cadet turned away and distracted, you took the opportunity to lift your head from its downturn position and glare into the back of his head. You gripped the chains and used them to slowly lift yourself up. When you were high enough that your legs reached his neck you swung yourself forward to wrap your thighs around his neck. You squeezed as tight as you could and lifted yourself higher to make sure he couldn't try stomping his feet on the ground.
He was digging his fingers into your thighs, clearly trying to use his powers, but it wouldn't work. They were useless now thanks to the sea prism jewelry you had on your ankle. It was the one gift you had kept from your old life. The one thing that bastard gave you that was actually useful.
The cadet was finally losing his strength and went completely limp. That's when you finally snapped his neck and let go. His body fell to the ground and you spotted a key on his hip. You smiled and slowly tiptoed your way up his body to grip the key with your toes.
You took a deep breath and prepared yourself to rely on your upper body strength again. You bent your body forward so your feet could reach the lock on your wrists. You groaned at the pain coming from your abdomen, the pain from the shocks didn't help. You'd like to think that your Captain would be proud if he could see you. That acrobatic training paid off.
You sighed in relief when your aching wrists were finally free and let go of the chains. You dropped down on your hands and knees, and took a few deep breaths. You assessed the damage on your body when you stood. Your thighs had red marks on them and your beloved dress was ripped up the side. Your abdomen was also horrendously sore.
You growled and eyed the pistol at the cadets hip. You smirked and pointed it at his head. Even if he was dead, snapping his neck wasn't good enough for you. You shot him in the face and reveled at the blood splatter it created.
"That's for my dress, fucker," you spat as you stepped over him.
Before opening the door leading out, you grabbed a pair of boots for your bare feet (they took your shoes, pervs) and cracked your neck to alleviate the ache there.
On the other side of the door, two Marines were at attention. They appeared suspicious because of the gunshot from the other side. Especially since their "Captain" gave no such orders to do so.
It was too bad they wouldn't be able to warn anyone, but then again, the two consecutive shots that rang out would be signal enough. You grabbed another pistol off them to prepare for the eventual onslaught of Marines that were surely on their way.
You kicked open the next door that hopefully led to an exit, only to find a circular room with multiple pathways leading who knows where. You didn't even have time to think about which one to take before they all started running in, like rats who spotted the cheese. They were coming from all sides, it kept you on your toes, literally. You were twirling around the room firing shot after shot on the tips of your toes.
Even if there was a risk of death, you had to admit, it was fun. It felt like you were dancing with the way your skirt spread out around you.
When the last two cadets finally fell, your fun was over and the pistols clicked. You dropped them to the ground, deeming them useless and ran down the path with the most dead marines. You kicked open another door and found what you assumed was the armory, based on the walls full of weapons.
Fancy iron gates separated you from the mass array of weapons they had, so, you had to get creative. You headbutted one charging at you and kicked a gate closed on two others trying to open from the other side. Geez, these guys were like a damn hydra. Take one out and two more take its place. They never stopped.
The next one tried stabbing you with a knife, a nice change of pace, but useless. You looked down forlornly at your dress and, with a heavy sigh, ripped off a long piece of it. You wrapped it around the wrist of the knife wielder and maneuvered yourself around him. You were back to back with him and with all your strength, you flipped him over you onto another Marine running in. Both of them grunted and fell to the floor.
Another came charging at you and you ran to the other side of the now open iron gate to slam into the Marines face. He groaned in pain with a fierce glare and thrust his arm through the opening to attempt to stab you, big mistake. You grabbed his wrist and crushed it on the gate causing him to scream and drop the knife. He had no time to recover because you began to repeatedly strike his face into the ornate design covering the sides of the gate.
Yes, it was bloody mess and unnecessary, but it was way more fun than using a pistol.
You cheered when he fell to the ground and turned back to your possible exit to see another blocking your way. You rolled your eyes, just how many soldiers did they have wandering around?
As you stalked towards him, he flinched with a knife in hand. You hummed with a chuckle, at least someone here finally had the decency to fear you. It wouldn't save him from your wrath anyway.
Despite the fear in his eyes he lunged at you. You grabbed his wrist and bent it back into his torso in retaliation. You ears perked up at the found of footsteps right behind you and you kicked your leg back, aiming high. The first fell forward and you grabbed the knife before he fell to the ground.
The second choked and held onto his throat. "Bullseye!" You cheered at the sight. You pinned him to the gate and slit his throat.
It looked like you were down to your last one here. He was holding a knife, a popular weapon here. You dropped your own and pulled the sash taut in your hands, that was all you needed. He lunged at you and you used his own momentum against him. You wrapped the fabric around his wrist and moved yourself behind him to pin his own hand to his throat and pulled.
He slit his own throat thanks to you.
You sighed and grabbed two rifles from the ground. "How careless," you mused. You walked out of the armory and pushed open what was hopefully the last fucking door before the exit. You were now in a long hallway with double doors at the end.
Too bad a whole squadron of Marines were blocking the way, the same ones who caught you. You smirked as you watched them all begin to charge you and the captain yelling orders.
"GET HER!" He yelled.
You opened fire on all of them. They didn't even have a chance as you cackled with glee, never once letting go of the trigger. They all fell to the ground with their blood decorating the drab, white walls. And then it was down to one person. The beloved "Captain" of this Marine base. He pressed himself against a wall, gripping a small pistol in his shaking hands.
You snickered and slowly walked towards him until you were close enough to kick the pistol out of his hand. He whimpered and raised his hands up, "w-what do y-you want?" He asked, cowering under your gaze.
You knelt down to his level and raised a hand to cup his cheek. He yelped at the feeling of your cold, bloodied hand, but didn't dare push it away. He froze at the sight your eerily calm smile and clenched his eyes shut as you leaned forward. He flinched at the feeling of your cold, rough lips on his cheek. You pulled away to whisper something into his ear before leaning back and finally leaving this damn hellscape.
"Captain Buggy sends his regards."
The moment you stepped outside you breathed in the fresh air and took in your surroundings. There was still daylight outside, most likely late in the afternoon now. The brightness of the sun made it easy to spot three familiar faces sneaking around the side of the base.
Peeking around, watching the grand entrance of the base, was Mohji. He narrowed his eyes at the inactivity. "Are you sure this is it?" He asked, skeptical. He had a weird feeling about it considering it was so quiet. Not a single Marine in sight.
Cabaji, who stood next to Mohji, hummed in agreement. "He has a point, Captain. There's no one here." He pointed to the unguarded entrance.
The esteemed Captain, Buggy, rolled his eyes and pointed to the sign displaying, '149th Marine base'. "Yes, positive. It's pretty hard to fucking miss." He chocked up the missing Marines to pure luck and pulled out two knives. He took a deep breath, "Okay, get ready in three, two..."
"What are you guys doing?"
Your familiar voice appearing behind Cabaji caused him to practically jump out of his skin.
"What the-?! What the hell are you doing out here?!" He exclaimed.
Buggy ignored his outburst and blinked owlishly at the sight of you. He ran over here with Cabaji and Mohji in tow after hearing word that the Marines had finally captured 'Buggy's Beloved Harlequin'. So, to see you here, alive, was quite a confusing sight.
He glanced back at the base and then at you, he shook off the lingering confusion. "We're here to save you!" He explained, gesturing to you.
You pouted and held back tears forming. "You were gonna... Save me?" You whimpered.
Buggy groaned and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Yes, it was a really good plan too..." He trailed off, slightly disappointed it was ruined.
You frowned, "well I could go back inside and you could still do it," you suggested.
Buggy scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Yeah, not gonna happen, angel face." He grabbed your wrist to pull you close. He wrapped a hand around your waist and held you close to his chest.
You giggled and wrapped your arms around his neck. You sighed at the feeling of his warm hand on your cheek. You could tell his eyes were on your bloody nose. "You kill all the fuckers that did this to you?" He asked, voice low in a whisper. He looked back into your eyes and you could see the rage that filled them.
You smiled and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips. It always warmed your heart when he cared for you like that. While he had his cowardly moments, he never backed down from a fight when it came to you. His anger was momentarily forgotten about until you pulled away.
Your eyes were still glued to his lips when you answered his question. "'Course I did. Every drop spilled was courtesy of Buggy, the genius jester.-" you pecked his lips- "even left one alive to tell the tale." You kissed him again and placed your hands on his cheeks so he couldn't pull away.
Buggy still managed to pull away despite that and chuckled. "Stop trying to distract me, angel. The hell were doing in there anyway?" He asked, rubbing comforting circles on your hip. Good thing he hadn't noticed your ruined dress yet.
You pulled away from him and grabbed his hand. "Let's talk about this on the ship. Reinforcements from the next town over are probably on their way." You laughed, "and I don't think they'll be happy to see the mess here." You tried to lead him away, only to be pulled back into his arms.
Cabaji and Mohji tried cutting in after successfully ignoring your loving reunion.
"She has a point, Captain-" began Mohji.
"Yeah, we should really-" continued Cabaji.
"Shut up!" Snapped Buggy, glaring at the two who cowered. His attention was back on you with an enamored expression. Buggy grabbed you by the waist. "Does that mean you-?"
You nodded, "uh-huh." You tried pulling away again, but were stuck in his tight grip. You furrowed your brows, but that tense expression melted away when you felt his soft lips on yours again. That was one feeling you would never get tired of.
You sucked in a sharp breath when you felt his tongue against your lips. Even though you were dying to feel more of him, you had to break the kiss to focus. You were breathless, "remember we have to go." You grabbed his hand to lead him away.
Buggy groaned and followed behind, but not before dragging you back one last time against his chest to whisper a promise in your ear. "I swear the second we get on that ship... You're mine." He nipped the shell of your ear.
You squealed and pulled away. "Then, hurry up, Captain!"
He finally allowed himself to dragged along and laughed with you. Clearly, he was ecstatic to see your gorgeous face until he spotted something peculiar. His anger rose tenfold when he finally noticed.
"What the hell happened to your dress?!"
Tumblr media
It took time and a lot of kisses to get him to calm down about the dress when you reached the ship. You were currently sitting on his bed, fingers stroking his hair as he knelt down in front of you. He was assessing the damage. Even though the ship's doctor already had, he still wanted to check every square inch.
You shivered when his warm hands lightly trailed over the skin of your bare legs. It was easy considering you were wearing one of his shirts. You smiled at the concerned expression he had. It was easy to get him to calm down by running your hands through his beautiful hair.
All bets were off, however, when he finally saw the red marks on your thighs from where the marine gripped you.
"Who did this?" He asked softly, his eyes glued on the finger shaped marks.
The smile didn't leave your face, it only grew when you heard his tone. You could tell that he was ready to storm the base again, if only to burn it down. You trailed your hand down from his hair to his cheek.
You stroked his cheekbone with your thumb. "You don't have to worry about it now," you whispered, putting your other hand on the marks with a demented smile. "He's dead. These are a... memento..." You were still quite proud of your method of killing and you were sure Buggy would be too when you told him.
"Are you serious?" He asked after your retelling. You nodded and giggled when he stood up to push you back into the bed. He pressed a kiss to your inner thigh and crawled on top of you. "Lucky bastard, getting to die between your thighs." He pressed kisses to your neck as he spoke.
You couldn't stop laughing and let out a delighted yelp when nipped the spot under your ear. "What? Don't tell me that's your dream now?" You pulled his head away from the spot in your neck to gaze into his eyes.
"I'm just saying I'd die a happy man if that were to happen."
You shook your head, laughter dying down when you felt his thumb trail over your cheek. The look in his eyes turned sour, he could see the makeup you used to coverup was smeared off. "Are you alright?" He asked.
He didn't need to say more for you to understand what he was referring to. There wasn't a day that passed where he didn't check in with you. You did the same for him when you noticed him looking in the mirror for longer than normal.
You grabbed the hand touching your face pressed your lips to it. "I'm fine." You held his hand there.
Buggy didn't want to press the issue and nodded. He leaned away from you to lay back against the pillows and open his arms for you. You smiled and crawled into his arms to rest your head against his chest. "I love you," you sighed.
"Love you too, angel."
Tumblr media
It used to hurt to look into a mirror, but Buggy changed that. He knew what it felt like to have people turn away in shame after being caught staring. Now, as you stood in front of his vanity, staring, you didn't break the mirror. You used to do that a lot when you first came, but he never cared about constantly needing to replace it. He just cared about comforting your raging thoughts of insecurity.
With a soft candle illuminating your face in the mirror, you raised a tentative hand to your face. You lightly touched the clean-cut mark there. It started at the edge of your lips and ended at the your cheek. There was a matching one on the other side. It was scarred permanently there years ago. You let your hand fall. You looked back at the love of your life, snoring, and snickered to yourself.
No time to think of that, you had to get back to bed before he woke up. The candle was blown out, and so were any negative thoughts brewing in your head.

Hii!!!
Thank you so much for tagging me before, I hope this isn't too late (?) Days are hectic for me but nonetheless, I would very much like to touch up on your tips and advice you have when writing for Luis. I loved him in the remake, and I would very much love to do him justice in some form of written work!
Thank you for reaching out, this really helps me!!
<3
HIHIHI ITS NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL!!!!! And don’t worry it’s NEVER too late!!! I have stuff sitting in my inbox from like. December HCNEHNDJDJJXNS
I Must admit I’m not really an expert nor am I much of a profession fanfic writer or anything- I only do it for fun!!!! So if you want something like, more specific PLEASE pretty please feel free to ask I’d be more than happy to help!!!! But in terms of general tips and tricks??? Here’s a few that I have under the cut!!!
As weird as this is gonna sound a lot of time I’ll just go and watch Luis’ voice actor André Peña’s streams on Twitch to try and pick up on lil mannerisms or speech quirks that get shown in-game!!!! If I can find an example I’ll put it here, but just generally picking up on what Luis would theoretically sound like if he were talking in a casual conversation helps me out!!!!! (Also he’s just in general a very lovely guy and his twitch streams are always fun so I reccomended them if you’re able to catch one!!!)
On a similar note, if you’re watching any cutscenes and any small characteristic sticks out to you- use that to your advantage!!!! I’ve always noticed how he kinda smiles differently when in different situations/levels of stress/talking to different people so I use that to my advantage when writing scenes with him!!!!
OR OR EVEN, if you’re able to and have the time, go look at older livestreams where the cast talk about their roles in RE4R and see what André has to say about Luis!!!!!! I’m more than happy to link the streams once I can find them again if you want!!!!!!!!! Seeing the actors be so genuine and passionate about the characters and putting their whole selves into the role truly does make them feel just so,,,, h u m a n <<<<33
Also, I know everyone and their mother says this, but research truly does help!!!!! There’s a LOT of things people miss about his character if you only view him on a surface-level or go into his character assuming he’s just a cardboard cutout ‘bad-guy-turned-good’ Typa character, so reading analysis posts on him to get a better idea of why he does what he does and how he is as a person will really help!!!! (Obviously I’ve got my own posts under the tag #luisposting or #othersposts, but the lovely @blveherb has some amazing posts of their own I can’t recommend enough!!!!)
There’s a LOOOOOOT of just. Very incorrect misinformation out there HXNSUSJ (staring at you resident evil fan wiki. Staring at you. VERY HARD) so if you ever come across a post that seems to only lean towards a negative view of Luis as a character or never gives him the benefit of the doubt,,,, it most likely won’t have been made with good taste in mind or properly researched HCNEHENDUDJ
Also also also, looking for things that he was directly inspired by!!!!!! I C A N N O T make this post without mentioning the 1957 Don Quixote film- it’s free on YouTube and it is SOOOOOO SOSOSOSOSOSOSO GOOD!!!!! Capcom TRULY put their all into the Don Quixote symbolism in his character and if you’re able to get your hands on a copy of the book, it’s well worth the read!!!
AGAIN on a similar note- looking at his culture and history is SOOOOOOOO important!!!! For example, the beginning of Seperate Ways features Luis doing a style of Flamenco called ‘Seguiriyas’- and once I’m awake in the morning and fully able to navigate the horror of the tumblr tagging system I’ll look for a post that goes deeper into this HCNEHWNEUDJDIS but Indigenous and Spanish culture are full of such rich and beautiful history you can pull from it is SO worth taking a look!!! Not to mention, you can play around with the fact that Luis was raised pretty Hardcore Catholic or the fact that it’s implied his Grandfather fought in/would have survived the Spanish Civil war as concepts a ton!!!
And if you’re writing specifically for Serennedy, taking a look at the Queer history of Spain/Europe as a whole is DEFINITELY worth your time!!!!! Looking back and remembering the people who came before us is always important and lends a hand to how we perceive our own funny lil fictional guys BCBEHENEJDNXJ
That being said, I only ever see this with writers who already have bigoted views and you seem like literally the nicest person EVERRRRRR so this TOTALLY isn’t directed at you!!!!!! But it’s super important not to fall into just straight-up racist stereotypes- calling Luis a predator, saying he’s a sex-driven animal, generally referring to him as ‘dirty’ etc is stuff that unfortunately you don’t JUST see with Luis but with many other POC characters too (like Carlos for example- he gets the brunt of it a LOT) so when you see stuff like this, don’t be afraid to call it out!!!!!!
I HOPE THIS LONG ASS POST DIDNT SCARE YOU OFF OR ANYTHING AHDNWHENXUDNXIX I TRIED MY BEST TO COVER ALL OF MY BASES CUZ I WASNT SURE WHAT KIND OF TIPS YOU WANTED!!!!!!!!! Again if you want something more specific feel free to ask!!!!!!!!

You Said You Loved Me - an MLB kwami swap identity reveal wip i never finished and probably never will sorry 😬
Spider-Man: Homesickness - My take on what the MCU Spidey's life could be like 5 years post: No Way Home and his journey into letting people back into his life and not being so alone (My CURRENT BABY and WIP that I'm ALMOST DONE WITH - it's so fucking long alskdhasasjdkhksdjhfkfh my hope is that it ends up in the no. 1 spot someday when it's complete) 🕸️
5. do you respond to comments?
So I didn't always, but nowadays I try really hard to respond to every comment thread at least, even if I don't always have the last comment on the thread. I really REALLY appreciate each and every comment and I actually often re-read them when I'm feeling insecure in my writing (is that cringe? maybe lol but it's true)
6. what is the fic your wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely The Beauty of Green. 268-word OL: BA drabble that smacks you out of nowhere in the last two sentences. I never write things that short anymore but it just worked
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
A lot of my one-shots back when I was writing for MLB like 5 years ago have happy endings. I prefer more *complicated* endings now, but a genuinely happy ending can be nice too. May I present Drops in a Pond for consideration though? Not traditionally fluffy or sweet, but I like to think it's a soft and hopeful kind of ending.
8. do you get hate on fics?
I haven't yet. I think I'm too small of a creator to get hate lol
9. do you write smut?
I've posted one smut fic before, Under the Moonlight, listed above. It's my top-rated fic so I guess I know a little of what I'm doing. OH and my side-wip I'm working on when SMH is too angsty for me is all fluff and kinky Parkner smut and I'm so excited to post that someday when SMH is fully out and done.
10. craziest crossover:
I haven't written any crossovers, unless you count pulling from marvel canon across different adaptations to make SMH (it's got Gwen and Harry and Miles even though they're not in the MCU 19999 as of now). But I used to write a lot of aus
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I would be so honored if someone did! I once had a full conversation in the comments with someone in another language by using Google Translate and that was fun!
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
I think my writing process would be a little too unconventional to co-write with someone unless we were trading chapters and perspectives. I go back and edit my drafts a lot as I move forward and I would be too tempted to edit their writing too, which feels mean...
14. all time favorite ship?
I LITERALLY CAN NOT PICK DO NOT DO THIS TO ME!!!!! I will be a multi-shipper until the day I die, in basically every fandom.
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have an idea for a series of long fics making an MCU HS AU inspired by Degrassi, but I think it would be just too many hours and too many words that I won't ever commit to. I love a good HS AU every now and again, but I feel like a lot of people (across fandoms with hs aus tbh) write the characters as if they already have a lot of the canon quirks the characters have as adults. I would want to write them truly as their HS selves, acting like real teenagers and all the dumb shit teens do, as the reader follows along on the journey of their growing up.
16. what are your writing strengths?
I think I really like detail and trying to portray a level of reality with the characters, even in more fantastical settings. I want the character's choices and motivations to be both complex and clear to the reader, even when they're making choices that the reader disagrees with. I also think this is a skill that is more and more prevalent in my recent writing, so my earlier MLB stuff doesn't have as much of it. My OLBA stuff and now my Spidey stuff though? Yeah.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Staying motivated to finish WIPS. (This is something I've improved a lot on though and at this point, barring some kind of life-or-death calamity in my life, I will absolutely be finishing SMH. I'm literally 120k of a predicted 150k words deep and going strong sooo).
OH ALSO comedy! I'm so bad at writing funny characters and making them actually say things that are both funny and make sense. Sucks when writing Spidey cause he can be such a little shit with his sarcastic comments and each dialogue point takes me 3-5 business weeks to come up with.
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I do it very rarely and only when it feels 100% necessary. I had a small bit in Spanish in ch 6 of SMH because Jeff and Rio were literally talking about Peter right in front of him and he could hear the words they were saying, even if he didn't understand them. But it was very brief.
I did it because the POV character literally didn't understand it, so it made sense to have it written out. In fics where the POV character understands what's being said, I prefer it all be written in the fic's primary language, for reader ease.
19. first fandom you wrote in?
A:TLA, like I said. That was back in the dark ages of my Junior Year of HS on my old ffn account that will never see the light of day again hahaha
20. favorite fic you've written?
Every current WIP has always been my favorite because that is what I'm thinking about. So SMH is definitely my current fave. It's my baby and I've put literally hundreds of hours into it (I keep a spreadsheet lol, it's nearly 150 hours of sheer writing, not including the early days of brainstorming and outlining.)
HOWEVER, back in the day, I was really proud of writing Answer Me and it's literally my lowest-rated fic, but I was such a fan of the genre and the Night Circus inspiration. Plus, I love Alya as a character and it was really fun to write from her perspective.
OH, and I'm still proud of Under the Moonlight because it taught me that my acespec ass can write smut and is also good at it, lol. I just have to write smut that's rooted in ~*~feelings~*~ and also has an element of humanism and imperfection. Which is the type of vibe I'm putting into my side-wip rn.
Thanks for tagging me, Sarah!

Fanfic Writer Ask Game: 😅 🤡 🛒 🍦🤗🧠🤲✅🤯 sorry if this is a lot lol
No worries I love asks and talking about my writing, so the more the merrier!
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
The only one I really feel weird about is Tonight I Wanna See It In Your Eyes. Just cause it's so short and doesn't go into enough detail on what I was trying to portray. I did it for writers month and tried to write it in a day, which I can't do. I love the idea though and I fully intend to expand it more one day.
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
Driving On Down The Road and reason why Butt Fuck Nowhere is called that, and the whole of 100.000 Years, it's just so silly, but I really can picture them having that whole interaction.
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
Always angst, I can't help it. Paul's sensitivity and vulnerability, Gene's tough but caring.
🍦 What's the sweetest fic you've created so far?
Hold Me. No smut, just Paul in a dark place and Gene not knowing how to help, but still being there for him.
🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
Don't feel like you need to start from the beginning. Write whatever it is that has inspired you, whether it be a scene or phrase. If you get to a bit where you want a particular thing to happen but don't know how to write it just type insert smut here or insert fight here or whatever and go on to the next bit. After you've written the stuff you're confident with it's much easier to fill in the gaps.
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
Here's a bittersweet head cannon about Paul and Ace for you. Neither of them will admit it, but they were close, and after Peter left they became closer. Paul didn't want Ace to leave and tried to keep him happy, even drinking with him on occasion. But he didn't want to get blackout drunk like Ace did, so it wasn't very successful. The pictures from The Elder/Creatures period, where they are holding onto each other - that's Paul silently saying don't go. But it was inevitable. And everything they have said since then comes from a place of hurt.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
Because you liked Let Me Know so much, this is a follow up to it, called Far From The House And The Family Fights in which teenage Paul has a fight with his parents and runs away to Gene.
“We received a letter from school today, Stanley.”
Stanley.  That meant he was in trouble.  Even so, Paul rolled his eyes and headed towards his room.
“You are not going anywhere, young man!”
Stanley and young man.  He was in a shitload of trouble!
“You are going to stay here and explain yourself!  You are on the verge of failing.  You haven’t done any homework and have been missing classes.  You’ve been drawing . . . penises in your schoolbooks.  And you told your teacher you didn’t need school because you are going to be a . . . rock star?”
Oops.  He hadn’t mentioned that particular ambition to his parents yet.
“What happened to you?” asked his father.  “You had so much potential.”
“God gave you this wonderful brain and you’re not using it,” said his mother.
Paul had heard this so many times before, and this time he lost it.
“Did he give me this stupid fucking ear too?  Because I’ll happily trade my brain for a real one!”
“Stanley Eisen!  Mind your language!”
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
Angst! Even when I try to write something happy or funny the angst creeps in. I don't want Paul to be unhappy all the time.
🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
Fight scenes. Arguments I can do, but when it comes to the physical stuff I struggle. While I believe these guys probably did get into punch ups occasionally, I can't really visualise them, I've only seen fights on tv and we know how realistic those are lol

It's for Fanfic Writer Ask Game, thx :
🍬💛💭🔥
Here we gooo!
Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favorite fic of yours for each fandom?
Haikyuu: Baby Steps
It’s a 8 chapter established relationship KageHina fic about relationship milestones (basically wants to take the relationship further but he doesn’t know how to express his desires. Then you have his boyfriend who’s literally shaking in his boots cause he doesn’t know how to say “I love you”. I wrote it during covid and it made me really happy.
BSD: They were roommates
It’s a “will they or will they not” type of SSKK fic. They live together and they’re really close to each other but they’re too scared to face their own feelings and be fully vulnerable with each other. It’s full of tooth rotting fluff and non explicit spicy content. A tad bit angsty tho.
Banana fish: Portfolio
It’s Ash and Eiji’s story through photographs. I always found it fascinating that despite hating cameras, Ash agreed to Eiji taking photos of him like all the time. I used it as a sort of character analysis for Ash. I really enjoyed writing it. Every photo has a different story and style. I didn’t know much about photography before writing it but I did a bit of research to get it right. A clair obscure piece doesn’t have the same goal as a candid shot or a bokeh etc.
JJK: This one is hard cause I’ve been writing a lot for that fandom but I’ll just choose one semi randomly. Probably Love is in the hands cause I’ve been working on it since December. It deals with heavy themes but it’s also full of humour and tooth rotting fluff. The story is full of hope and unapologetically queer characters.
Summary: After getting kicked out of his home for being queer, Suguru comes across his childhood sweetheart in a strange gay bar that is owned by his new “family”: a bunch of queer social rejects who were taken in by Yuki, an eccentric matriarch. He finds a new home (and his lost love) there.
Versailles: Masterpiece
I wrote it to cope with the end of the second season. I was 18 back then and it’s the second fanfic I ever wrote.
I’ve written for other fandoms but just one fic for each so I won’t add them. I think my first fic was a Sns one. I have one for KilluGon too. Also them kids from TR.
What is the most impactful lesson you've learned about writing?
The audience doesn’t matter. Just write whatever makes you happy. Write what want to read. Not what you think others want to read.
What inspires you and your writing?
Everything. Music, outfits, fan art, something I heard someone say, people I know, different cultures etc
The inspiration comes from absolutely everywhere. For example, I added a storyline to Love is in the hands cause I wanted to mention a piece of classical music. I wrote a whole 10 chapter stsg fic cause my friend told me I had the vibe of a Witch. I just be writing shit tbh. I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense. Imma write it if it makes me happy.
Have you included any sexy scenes in your fics? If yes, do you find them easy or difficult to write?
I love sexy scenes. I didn’t write smut until I started writing StSg but now I loooooove it. It’s super enjoyable and dare I say easy. I’m a huge sap so it helps.
Thank you so much for asking ❤️ I love you

20 Questions More
A deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks @eqt-95 and @inkedroplets for the tag!!
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship/fandom?
Daydreaming. Writing fanfic is secondary to that. It was only in the past couple of years that it occurred to me that I could write some of it down and see what happens.
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?
@searidings is my absolute favorite, the way she unravels the characters' emotions and angst is absolutely superb.
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?
Ohhh I really love this question:
Cat in Inauthentic, as well as this ficlet and this one. I love her sense of humor.
Lillian in Darkness in All Things. For the same reason as Cat, I just love her snark.
Zor-El in Even Though You're Kryptonian. He kind of surprised me when I started writing him, and to this day I don't know if some of his lines are driven by genuine confusion or if he's just trolling.
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?
I'm a never-say-never kind of person. There's a lot that I don't think I would ever write, but I've been surprised on where stories have taken me before, and may be surprised again.
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?
"Process" might be an overstatement...
I have a "scribbles" doc where I keep my ideas. I cull ideas often (though ideas often make their way back anyway). As I write more into the doc, a certain idea may get too big for it, so I spin it out into its own doc.
From there, I kind of go back and forward between outlining and writing. I write completely out of order. Which is why, so often, my multichaps are almost fully drafted by the time I publish chapter 1. I've usually already made it to the resolution point of the plot (meaning, no one's in danger anymore, the bad guy is gone, etc), though the final chapter often doesn't get written until later.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?
I love when I've finished the first pass of a chapter/one-shot, and I'm in the editing stage. The story really feels like it's coming together at that point, and it's before all the self-doubt starts bubbling up (that hits hard just before posting).
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?
A friend of mine is a professor in astroparticle physics, so I spent a couple of hours asking him about quantum mechanics stuff. But only a small portion of that ended up being relevant to the fic and the rest was just for fun.
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?
When I'm first sketching out a scene, about half the time I write in present tense (it feels more like I'm writing a play at that point sometimes), but I publish in past tense. So I end up needing to do a bunch of revisions 😭
Also TYPOS.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?
Fight scenes are ROUGH, man.
This is probably one of those answers I'll change every time depending what's at the top of my mind. But writing out a fight scene - like in Even Though You're Kryptonian, Darkness in All Things, or It's a Metallo Life - gets surprisingly difficult if there are more than 2 people.
I know exactly how I'd shoot those scenes if I had a camera crew, special effects, etc. But it's hard making sure the audience is aware of where everyone is positioned, why they can/can't act in the moment, etc.
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?
All the fucking time, man. From the very beginning, even. I was trying to have Lena still be angry by the DEO scene in So I Kept Pretending, but that didn't make sense anymore.
I actually recently had a fic idea dissolve because it wasn't vibing with the characters. Which is fine, it became a ficlet instead!
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?
Absolutely Kara. I have so many questions about kryptonian culture and how it drives her character.
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?
Trope-wise, I definitely return to the Rift again and again. I find themes around forgiveness and understanding to be really interesting. Can two good-hearted people with conflicting needs hurt each other while still loving each other? How? What does that mean for the aftermath?
I think that's part of what draws me to supercorp - the complexity of their relationship. How they can both be right, and both be wrong, and love each other enough to rebuild from the ashes.
13) What's your most important resource as a writer?
Coffeeshops and libraries. Getting into slightly busy, cozy environments, out of the house, really helps shake loose the stuff in my head.
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?
Especially for longer works, I tend to put the work down (and circle to other works, or go outside, or whatever) before coming back to it. It helps to step away for a bit - it's easier to pick up on repetitiveness or unclear passages when coming back.
Though I always find mistakes in my stories much later, so I'm not sure I'm one to give advice on this anyway 🤣
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?
Posting anxiety is the absolute worst. If I leave myself in front of my computer I'll end up refreshing constantly waiting for the first kudos (if it's a one-shot or first chapter) or the first comment (if it's a later chapter) to figure out if I've accidentally pissed off everyone in the fandom somehow.
Luckily, my partner will usually pull me away to go on a walk or grab lunch or do something else to take my mind off it 💗
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?
I only publish what I like. Sometimes I'm nervous that other people won't like it, but I will always like it. Stories that aren't going a way I like - even if I think the idea is cool! - will dissolve. Just recently I dissolved one that felt like it was a cool idea, but it didn't make enough sense for the characters.
Kudos and comments always make me feel appreciated as an author!! Sometimes I'll get a user subscriber out of it, too, and it feels like an honor that someone would want to hear from me more than once.
The thing that feels most precious, though, is when someone comments on how something made them feel (I love making people laugh at my dumb jokes, or cry when a story is supposed to hit emotionally), or when they pick up on something that I wasn't sure would get picked up on.
I tend to lean towards understatement in my stories. For me, the biggest success is knowing that someone recognized what I was going for, without me being overt.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character/ship?
Alas, I don't. But given that Kara is canonically a Britney Spears fan and musicals nerd, I feel like my default playlist works 🤣
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?
Oh gosh, I don't want to pick someone and create pressure, or not pick someone and make them feel bad. This fandom has so many great artists!
That said, some of my favorites do commissions, you can see everything I've commission here.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have?
1 supercorp & 1 rojarias (for @supergirlmayhem)
For me, 2-3 is my happy number, so I'm relieved to be down to this after being so high (I think up to 11?) for so long.
20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?
If you're wondering why you can't find that story you want, it might mean that you're the one to write it 💗
- - - - -
Tagging (respectfully and without pressure) @rustingcat @luthordamnvers @sssammich @tinyvariations @thatonebirdwrites @theredcapeofk @sideguitars @luthordamnvers @mycatismyeditor @inkedroplets @nottawriter @snowydragonscave @jetgirl1832 if you want some rapid-fire q's thrown your way. But also anyone who'd like to do this!

Who are your top 5 fav characters from all media (can be manga, anime, movies, books, games, etc)?
omg another good question, but also one I find very difficult to answer!
Uh. Would it be incredibly lame of me to have several top 5 favourites all from Death Note 😆 I feel as though it's maybe just because I've spent an ungodly amount of time discussing and enthusing over them with other people in the fandom, and this is really the only fandom I've ever been involved in, but...
L Lawliet - my #1 fave since forever!!!
Light Yagami - it's like he's also my #1 fave due to the fact that I think he's so well-written, entertaining, layered, and fascinating to analyze. I can never quite stop trying to figure him out. But he took me a lot longer to fully warm up to and appreciate than L did
Tom Ripley (in The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith) - particularly/only in the first novel that he stars in. He's got such a soft-spoken and gently polite, keenly observant POV that I find really comforting and enjoyable to hang out with in spite of how much creepy and sinister shit is actually going on underneath the surface and behind the scenes with him 😅 Clearly I have a bit of a type in fictional faves??
Beyond Birthday (in the Another Note novel by Nisio Isin)- I just felt too bad at the thought of not including B here, I simply can't betray my stupid son like that. He's the only fictional character that has ever really inspired me to hop right into his head and attempt to take the reins through writing fanfics, after all. I definitely urge anyone in the fandom who hasn't read the LABB novel yet to read it if you want to know what a colourful character B is... fanon B often just doesn't quite reach the true heights of absurdity and awkwardness that the original B does
Those MIGHT be the only ones I ACTUALLY consider my top faves right now at the moment? I have had other ones in the past, but currently that's the only list that actually sprang to mind.
HOWEVER I'll give you a bonus fictional character that I found incredibly interesting to get to know recently:
5. Mary Katherine Blackwood (from We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson) - Merricat is the epitome of a unique and odd first person POV to inhabit. Her unreliable narrating and her childish worldview and her dark little habits and obsessive rituals makes for a pretty fascinating and disturbing read!

Favorite writing song/artist/album of this year and a fic you didn’t expect to write this year from the list you reblogged?
End Of The Year Fanfic Asks (send me some???)
oooh yay!!! thank you for sending me some (even if I am a bit late answering them)
13. Favourite writing song/artist/album of this year?
So - I am going to assume that this means music that you enjoyed listening to while writing or music that inspired your fics?
I don't usually listen to music while writing fics, because I like to clear my head of all distractions during the actual writing process. But usually while I am thinking of ideas or getting in the mood to write a specific fic, then I will definitely curate songs for it. Or sometimes, if I am just listening to a random playlist, then a song that comes on will give me an idea for a fic and inspire me.
And like 80% of my fics are titled after songs, so I love using song lyrics as inspiration and using song motifs and imagery when writing fics.
This year, the album The Jaws of Life by Pierce The Veil was literally top notch for me.
I also really loved So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy, but surprisingly - The Jaws of Life inspired way more fics for me. It came out in February of 2023 and actually - while I did have the middle school emo phase and the emo trinity has always been sacred to me, I didn't start listening to Pierce The Veil actively until I was in my 20s. Which is fucking wild.
But upon hearing the single from this album, Emergency Contact, I fucking fell in love with it - and it was one of the main inspirations for this Jason Todd fic, which I think is one of the greatest fics I have ever written. And the sequel is going to be titled The Jaws of Life - which is another song off the album and I am so excited about how both song titles suit the fics so well.
And there is several other fics I have named after songs off this album (I could have easily named a fic after each song off the album cause I love it so much, but I was trying to use restraint) - Shared Trauma (Gar Logan x Reader), and Damn The Man, Save The Empire (Vanessa Shelly x Reader). And because I was listening to more Pierce The Veil in general, this fic got its title - King For A Day.
I highly, highly recommend the album if you are looking for some fanfic inspiration - or just something good to listen to.
14. A fic you didn't expect to write:
Okay so - this could have a few different answers. Because I absolutely was not expecting to randomly get back into Harry Potter, have another hardcore fixation with it, and end up writing fics for it in the year 2023.
But something I absolutely did not expect - to be writing Spencer Reid fanfiction. Writing the Lessons For A Genius oneshot (and it's follow up, especially so quickly) - I was shocked with myself, because I thought that the first CM fic I ever wrote would be my last.
Idk how many of the people reading this were following me in 2021, but I wrote and posted my first ever Criminal Minds fanfic back then - and mentally, as an artist, it was one of the wildest fanfiction experiences I have ever had.
Burn The Witch - my feelings about it are almost indescribable.
I often have these fics that I call 'mutated oneshots'. Fics that started out as a oneshot, that were always intended to be a oneshot (around 20k) that end up having these mutations and growths - some scenes need more shading in, the emotional arcs of the characters need more time to be fully informed, and while in my head, it is still fully a oneshot, it's now at 40k and I know nobody is going to read that in one sitting in a digestable way. So I have to break it up into parts and I hate doing that because it was never intended to be a series.
It's more like a movie that is getting commercial breaks when you put it on TV (and I think of a writing a series like an episode style TV show).
Some examples of these mutated oneshots are - You Shook Me All Night Long (intended to be one short part, ended up as four parts with a bonus blurb series). No Place Like Home is a huge one - meant to be a oneshot, then in my head it turned into a three shot - ended up as seven fucking parts and currently it's the longest thing I have written, sitting at 90k. I'm Still Standing is another good example.
And it gets even worse, because when I split things up into parts, I'm like "I can add a bit more to this chapter, because maybe I want the mood of the chapter to be a certain way, or I wanna frame the ending of the chapter a certain way so the audience is left with something cool" - and then that adds on like 5k more in a hot minute.
So - how does this affect my feelings about Burn The Witch and Criminal Minds fanfics overall?
Burn The Witch was supposed to be a short, smutty oneshot. That is it. But in the finished version, the sex scene and the smutty themes fall so far into the background - because this turned into an emotional casefic. This fic got so far away from me, and I drove myself insane while writing it, because I wanted to 'hold back', but then I couldn't. And I thought the dark and gory elements were some of the best things I have ever written - but it was received as a flop when I first posted it.
And when I posted it on Tumblr, the chapter with the smut scene in it was the one that always consistently got the most likes - even though it's a chapter in the middle of the story. So I could tell that even though I slaved over making the whole fic consistently very good, as a whole, well-rounded story, a lot of people were only reading one chapter in the middle of it for smut, and that's it. And that made me really upset.
(Like if you want a oneshot for smut, just go find one. It made me regret even labelling it as 'the smut chapter'.)
And just the pure mental and emotional exhaustion I went through to get such little return from the readers - I vowed that I was probably never going to write a Criminal Minds fic ever again.
And I have so many ideas for a sequel to Burn The Witch, but I think if I actually try plotting it all out and writing it and make it how I envision it - it will put me in a mental asylum, because it will end up being like 100k and I don't know if I can write it how I envision it being. Or if I will go crazy in the process.
So generally, I have such a love/hate relationship with writing Criminal Minds fanfics. I think they're fun and I think they can turn out so good, but the readers can be so picky and demanding in that fandom specifically. So I often like to steer clear unless a particular idea is just haunting me. Which is why I am surprised that I ended up writing more for CM this year.

Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason. <3
First fic: That Inspirational Stuff , a long Poe/Finn fic set after the Last Jedi where I tried to create the satisfying character arcs that the actual movies never would for Poe and Finn. It's funny that this is my first fic listed on Ao3 because the very first fanfic I ever wrote in my life was handwritten in a journal when I was 13, when I tried to imagine a sequel trilogy to the original SW trilogy.
Last fic: Here Comes the Bride, Ed/Stede and inspired by the S2 teaser.
Wrote once: I'm not sure how much this counts, but I wrote a Pacific Rim/OFMD crossover fic, lovers in a dangerous time, which is the only Pacific Rim fic I've ever written.
Favorite fic in biggest fandom: Not sure how to quantify biggest fandom, so I'll go with OFMD. My fav fic I've written for that is The World Beyond. I am proud of it because I wrote it as being post s1 in terms of where Ed and Stede's relationship was at while also being set in a dystopian cli-fi near future, and, now having seen the trailer and teaser, I kinda think I got the post s1 vibes right.
Fic I wish more people read: The Legend of the Gentleman and the Outlaw, by Lucius Spriggs (La Leyenda del Hidalgo y El Bandido, translated by Jim Jimenez), I just think it's neat. I tried to write it using the structure of Cloud Atlas and mostly succeeded. There's two chapters done in bird POV. And I particularly love Lucius's arc in it.
Fic I agonized over most: don't let me die with my soul in the air, my massive retelling of S1 and beyond from Ed's POV. Holee shit I agonised over this guy, especially S1E10 Ed. Rewatching his scenes in that episode was heartbreaking.
Fic that sprang fully formed: Mile High Club, I genuinely think I wrote this thing in like... two days? I had to get it out of my head via keyboard.
Fic I'm proud of: Runaway Effects, which I co-wrote with @petrichorca. It was my first ever collaboration and I think we made something really beautiful that I think about all the time.
tagging @petrichorca @elapsed-spiral @mxmollusca @emi--rose and anyone else who wants to join the fun!

Hi! I, evidently like so many others, absolutely loved THD!! I am spinning it in my hands, bouncing it up and down, examining the fractals it throws off when held to light... it's just SO GOOD! I wandered over here when you posted the final chapter, read your plan of attack post for the series and am now stuck on this somehow being the first fandom fic you've written?? If you're happy to answer, I would love to know what it is about TL and Jamie Tartt specifically that inspired you to jump from original work (which I will definitely be checking out later!! Your prose demands no less!!) and into fan fiction, any why this particular AU gripped you to the point of delivering 80k words of brilliance? Thank you for the story and (hopefully) thank you in advance for the response!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! My venture into fanfic is the result of a confluence of a few different factors. I finally got around to watching TL maybe a month before season 3 aired, having already osmosed some of the major plot points from Tumblr at large — most notably the Wembley scene, which was the main reason I decided to watch it and probably gave Jamie an edge going in. The show falls into the sweet spot between "bad but I had a good time" and "this is a beautiful work of art" that made me want to dig my fingers in and pick it apart: it has defined themes and character arcs and is overall well-crafted, but also has a number of flaws and bits that didn't quite work, particularly when it comes resolution of Jamie's arc with his dad — which annoyed me so much that it's the origin of this sideblog.
Jamie falls into the category of like. characters alchemically created for me to like them. As in, the first time I heard a description of the show, they got to Jamie and I was like "if I ever watch this, he's going to be my favourite." And I was right! I have a real soft spot for what I lovingly refer to as "narrative problem children": if there's one member of the main group who causes problems for everyone else and is an asshole that no one likes, they're probably my special little guy (think season 1 Izzy Hands, Catra from She-Ra, Thomas Barrow from Downton Abbey who was the only reason I watched that show), which of course means I want to put them through the emotional blender. Bonus points if they're either very talented/good at whatever they do (especially if it comes from hard work rather than natural affinity), a schemer (I love me a schemer), have a tragic backstory, and/or have autism vibes.
My reasons for getting into fanfic are maybe surprisingly pragmatic: I'd finished part 1 of my original fic series and wanted to write something else before I started editing so I wouldn't be thinking about that universe and would be able to judge the world-building more accurately. I'd also spent enough time in my academic life defending my ideas and having my writing critiqued that I stopped being as nervous about having an audience and became curious about how people would respond to my fiction writing, which I figured would be a lot easier to find out with fanfic. (Was it also a bit of a guerrilla marketing campaign for my original fic? Maybe a little).
As for this AU in particular, I was really interested in how the relationship that we see between Georgie and Jamie in 3x11 fits in with everything we'd previously learned (or could deduce) about his past, as well as how Jamie might respond to being made vulnerable the way he is in 2x08 at the height of his prick era. I fully did not intend for it to be 80k (it was supposed to be a one-shot) but the story kept expanding and sometime around chapter 3 or 4, it got upgraded from "quick break from the original fic" to "long-term project."

what was the TPP moment that gave you the most writing fuel? one that still rly sticks in ur head. (feel free to ramble)
Gosh, that's both super hard and super easy to answer! Twitch Plays Pokemon has had SOOOO many memorable moments that immediately come to mind that have captured my imagination or turned into a major part of my lore, there's just too many to name. However, there's a lot of moments that mean so much to me but I haven't written anything (or at least not published it) about those moments. I think I have fics either plotted out in my head or partially written for just about every single Randomized Run we've done because rattling the formula always brings out some of the coolest concepts and creativity within the community. Like I have an entire backstory and character arc for Lorekeeper James from Randomized Alpha Sapphire, which a lot of people fell in love with this random Bug Catcher suddenly getting boss music. Or when Trevor in Randomized Y turned out to be the Flare Admin we had to fight at the Poke Ball Factory, but then we had a crash and my heart just breaks thinking about the scene afterward where we went "back in time" to before all the kids met up at the park. And now Trevor, Calem, and Venus all awkwardly trying to pretend nothing happened while staring each other down with the utmost scrutiny as each wonders if the other two is aware of what happened. But don't worry, all this causes him to have a bit of a breakdown and soul searching before turning against Team Flare to go rescue Abomasnow. Or even as recently as Randomized Violet+ and how I've been a bit obsessed with Terra and her misadventures for the last few months and her showing up again as the host for Super Gauntlet Ruby is not helping that. Heck, Randomized Platinum was probably the biggest world building run for my lore it's one of the three establishment fics I've had partially started that I feel needs to be either written or fully explained to point to why the Haji TPP Verse is the way it is! And hhhnnngggg.... so much more...
Of course there's also a difference between the lore to come out of things (which I've written for after being inspired by other authors or artists in the community) and the onscreen moments that seemed to change everything. And while I have a lot of runs I love, a few I can point to as "THIS still hits hard" are things like my very first fanfic I posted to the TPP subreddit was in the aftermath of Leech King's death. I remember being at work, plotting out an entire series that would follow Abe and the others trying to get to the bottom of who had her murdered and why, having Alakazam and Venomoth that joined around the same time being hired detectives, and ICU coming into her own as the heir to the throne and whatnot, but it didn't get very far and even looking back was pretty bad writing. I did eventually get around to writing the post game like I wanted with my Much Ado About Blue series so that's definitely continued to be a wealth of writing fuel. Heck, when I started my Connections series, the inspiration was from Faba kicking our ass eight ways to Sunday in Waning Moon and the feeling there was probably a personal connection there. But I literally only planned for like seven chapters if even that because I didn't expect myself to start novelizing the run as a way to lead up to that moment. Originally the plan was to skip between certain cutscenes to establish lore on Quips. (My doc is still simply labeled "Hau" even though the story has grown since then.) But for moments? I mostly do angst and dramas anyway, but one piece I'm rather proud of and STILL upset about is my short for the ending of Pyrite. Ugh, the bitterness and how everyone and their dog had an opinion on the ending of that run and poor Eeyup getting dropped after we finished instead of getting some kind of proper send off or victory lap. Or on the note of Evan and Azure, this spur of the moment piece that's kind of hinted at. I love when I'm archiving runs and something comes up like a Glitch or crash, or something so unexpected I just INSTANTLY get the idea and need to write a short for it.
But I must say when I read this question, the first thing that came to mind was my novel for Blazed Glazed. Holy crap, this Run changed a lot of things for me. For one, being an original ROM hack means there's an entire world that has been a fountain of writing fuel for me I intend to get back to eventually. Who are these original characters? What is their story? How does Tunod work? How does it connect to other games it made a guest appearance in? Team Fusion showed up in RW2 meaning there's a whole history there with these guys. I made special edits of the Team leaders. It's kind of insane because I had written stuff for other runs before, obviously, but this was like all consuming on my brain. And you know what started it off? ...I started watching the VODs because it seemed like there wasn't much talk about it for me to know what was happening. We got our starter, met with THE INVENTOR, met Blake (our NPC partner for the long haul) and suddenly there was a Glitch. I was already intrigued by the opening, but when the Inventor was supposed to follow and instead became frozen and uninteractable, my mind started running. I paused my viewing and started writing. It's by far the longest series I've written and what made it so fascinating in a way was writing as I watched meant there are several points I didn't know where the story was going. So I may plan on something, but then it didn't turn out that way so how do I rework the script to account for the unexpected character appearances? Freezes? Glitches? How about a random detour to find specific teammates? And don't get me wrong, like most games, the actual plot can seem vague or even silly in the writing sometimes, but then that makes it fun to try to flesh out what the deeper reasoning could be for why something is happening? And then tying it into the larger TPP universe has just been... ahh~ <3
Anyway, this has gotten really long but I hope that answers your question. I'm sorry this kind of turned into one big shameless plug. Dang I've written a lot, but I love this fandom so much. I can't even ;w;

⏳ and 🧠(for whichever character you prefer) for the writer/fanfic ask game please
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
Okay this answer is going to make me sound insane but it actually only takes me about 2 hours on average to write a 1.7-3k word chapter. The main problem I have though is getting the inspiration to actually sit down for 2 hours and write it. I spend all week thinking over in my head what I want to happen and then I just sit down and it pops out fully formed, but the struggle is if I sit down and nothing pops out I have to wait around until it does. I think the longest it's taken me to write a chapter took me like...6 hours in one sitting??? but the longest time stretch it took me to MOTIVATE myself to write a chapter was that long period last year where I went a couple of months without updating, but I also wasn't actively thinking about it and engaging with it as much. I'm at the point now where because I think about it, talk about it, engage with it, add songs to the playlist, read comments to hype myself up, etc. it's easier to sit down and crank something out because I've already sort of got what's going down floating around in here.
It's ALSO a lot quicker for me to write if I have SOMETHING from the next chapter written, even if it's just a few sentences or part of a scene, because then I have at least some idea of where to go from there so if I write 2k words in one sitting it's usually 1.5k words from the chapter i'm about to post and 500+ words for the next chapter. and then next time i sit down to write i'm finishing that week's chapter and starting the next one. and any time in the meantime that i wake up in the middle of the night and jot down stuff or put things in the notes app in my phone it's just a bonus.
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
I'm actually pretty bad at talking about headcanons for some reason??? When someone asks me my brain freezes up but I definitely have them because I supplement my stories with them, it's just kind of an "it comes up when it comes up" kind of thing but I also don't really engage with the fandom or fanworks so I don't really get the osmosis finding and collecting cool headcanons from other people kind of thing either (also i'm a bitch and most of the time when i read a headcanon my brain goes 'yeah we read different books because MY kaz would NEVER' like a total asshole). because i write mostly in an AU things that i pull out of my ass that aren't explicitly mentioned in canon aren't headcanons in my mind, they're just canon to the universe i've created.
i think if i had to say one i would say that the darkling just doesn't listen to music. he has never once considered like...listening to music recreationally. if he is throwing a party and there is music there it is only because socially that is what is expected of him. even if they were in the modern day i can't ever imagine him pulling up spotify and listening to some tunes.

y’all, lemme tell you something about my rarepair, my absolute number one OTP, the ship i will go down with, my i-would-die-for-them even now, 24 days into the year of our lord 2023.
it’s not even about the show, and it hasn’t been for like 20 years now. it’s about the all-encompassing chokehold that two of the characters from this show have had on me since i was about 13 years old. that’s when it started and it hasn’t let me go. better than that, the pairing itself is a complete fabrication, totally built up inside my head and fleshed out by years and years of over-analyzation and inventing things that, objectively, are not there. the maintext of it all is pretty clear but i have a special knack for pulling anything and everything i want out of the subtext. i see what i want to see and i live happily in my little state of delusion.
here’s the kicker: when i say the maintext is clear, i mean it. these characters were not, in any way or by any stretch of the imagination, written with the intention to give off romantic vibes. truly, they weren’t. this show, in all its cheesy (and arguably cringey) glory, was one of the highest rated family-friendly, positivity-focused shows of the 90s. it was the height of the “clean, uplifting, and inspirational” era of network television, with very strong christian undertones.
the show? touched by an angel. the characters?
these two.
Tumblr media
yes, these two. characters with one very clear purpose, which is to be on earth to help human beings and spread the message of gods love to the world.
pairing them???? absolutely asinine of me, and yet … here i am, still burning in this fire years and years later. i would die for them. specifically, i would die for my version of them. and i probably will not ever be able to fully explain my adoration or remember what it was that triggered this shift in my young brain or what made me say, “yes, this is what we’re doing now. this is where we live.”
i don’t use the word chokehold lightly. i can spend hours watching bits and pieces of scenes, re-analyzing dialogue, and spilling my thoughts and theories to the one friend i have that also shares this mildly humiliating addiction. thank god for her and thank god for the far corners of the internet. i have written (and read) some very -ahem- unholy fic. and i’ll keep doing it kids. this is a forever kind of thing.
this post is a confession but it’s also a plea for more friends. me and my one friend, we can’t be the only ones out there, right? i know there are others because our fanfic stats tell me so. i see you. i know you’re there. step into the light and be my friend, i beg.

Hey! I absolutely adore your fanfics and I've started to come up with ideas for my own fics but somehow I'm stuck at actually writing them down in a fully formed version, I just have vague plot ideas and moments I want to happen in the fic but actually transforming it into a fanfic feels impossible to me -- I have a few lines here and there written out, but those are just tiny scenes. Maybe I just lack the creative drive and I'm simply not a writer. Still, I wanted to ask, do you have any advice for anyone who wants to get into fanfic writing? Where do you draw inspiration from?
Thank you so much for such kind words! I'm so glad my stories resonate with you! ❤️ And it's so exciting to hear that you're venturing into your own story making 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've been thinking about this question since I saw it and I think my answer boils down to "you have to train your brain to be open and be thinking constantly." (Of course, by constantly, I don't mean you have to be taxing and straining yourself every single moment) Being a writer feels like a full time job (or hobby!) sometimes because my brain is always going. Does that streetlight inspire something? Is that weird tree a candidate for a new character? Was that joke funny enough to use in a fic? Do I wanna set something in an antique store just to include this weird timelessness vertigo I have? I'm gonna take a picture of that "cow crossing" road sign to use later.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have distinct memories of being five years old and squirreling away stories in drawers all over the house. I've always been a voracious reader. My inner voice never stops. And my imagination has always been stronger than my attention span 😄 All of this to say, it feels like stories come pretty naturally to me, but that's because I've been making them up my whole life. I'm very sorry if this is not so helpful.
One starting point I've often come back to (even as a long time writer) is to WRITE stories the way you TELL stories. How do you talk to your family or friends when you're recounting an event? That's telling stories. How would you explain something you saw to someone taking a statement? That's telling stories. How do you recap an episode of TV or a book you read? That's telling stories. Sure, it's not as flashy and verbose as some written fiction, but it's still telling stories. And you may find that that is a voice you relate to as you're writing. Plenty of authors have a straight forward style. The more you stretch that story telling muscle, the more likely you are to find the rhythm of the story and your voice. If you're finding it difficult or daunting to write down a whole idea at once or you can't find the link between A and D, write down how you would describe it to someone. Nothing ever has to be a final draft, certainly not a first draft.
Similarly, start small. I can't tell you how many of my stories began as single lines of dialog or a quick scene image. It's totally fine to write 50, 100, 200, 300 words because that small aspect interested you. (It's fine to post that! If that's all you want to say or share about it!) I have a whole file of small moments like that, which I go through every now and then to see if the rest of the story has found me yet. Quite often, I think you may find that as you sit with a line or an image for a while, something else is going to slot into place. Maybe not the exact next line, maybe just a plot idea, maybe a character dynamic or new relationship. Let these things come to you. Or write down your idea and then just keep typing, even if it makes no sense. Writing is kind of like fishing sometimes. I just keep casting my hook out and waving the pole around until it catches on something. (You know, how normal people fish) Inspiration is important, but it's not the be-all and end-all of writing. Unfortunately, it's usually just the bait on the line. Writing can be a bit of work. You have to put in the effort after an idea grabs you and you have to keep writing on your own. There is, unfortunately, no divine delivery most of the time.
Inspiration is one of those things that you have to train your brain for. (Seems counterintuitive, I know) But hear me out: in any given day, an author will experience the same sights, sounds, news, movies, songs, and phenomena that every else around them does. Any of those things can trigger you into saying, "wait, this could be a story." I have plenty of posts on here where I talk about AUs based on movies or songs or video games because at the moment it struck me that this situation could be repurposed for a fic or a story. Interacting with other art in the world and learning to recognize tropes, emotional triggers, arcs, plots, conflicts etc etc and then how to play with and break them is definitely one way to train yourself to be open to Inspiration and new ideas.
Once you do have an idea, write it down. I promise you will not remember it, no matter how cool it was. Keep some paper or a designated notes app for these things. Be as thorough or vague as you like. I have so many random lines, character names, AUs, plots, and images saved. Ponder these things, especially if you're really grabbed by one. Think about what you would like to see with it. Who else is filling out the space? What is the end goal? Writing is full of big questions that may be answered easily, may need to be forced through, or may need to sit back and rest for a moment. I wish I had better advice here, but it really is just that sitting with your inspiration for a while can help your ideas so much, especially if you're stuck. Ideas want to talk to you. They (you) just need to find the words.
So inspiration doth strike. Now what? Like I said, now is the work. A whole fic will likely never come to you all at once. Take what you know of the fic-- your lines, your images, your trope etc-- and write them out. Then begin making the connective webs inbetween. This where the verbal story telling comes in. Quick lines often blossom into full scenes. Even if they don't, no biggie. You're learning the story here. You're getting to know it. You wouldn't expect to understand a person fully upon just meeting them. I've even created outlines before with my big ideas, then just kept getting more specific in the subheadings until much of the full plot was there and waiting.
This takes practice. Finding (and trusting) your creative voice is a skill that can be worked out the same as any muscle, but you do have to put in some hard work with slow results. Don't be afraid to backspace or go in a different direction. I can't tell you how many of my stories were supposed to be one thing but ended up going in a completely different direction to great results. Tell It To The Bees was supposed to be a quick, goofy Three (or five) And One story about Bucky getting caught talking to the bees, very silly and light, but once I started writing it, it became such a different story and I think it's so much better for it. Inspiration, imagination, interest, and desire are all working in tandem (or fighting) as you write. Along with learning to be open to inspiration, you must also learn to listen to these instincts as you write. Which really just takes practice and trust. I'm sure you are already in tune with these things inside of you. Let them roam as you write too.
It sounds like your creative voice is awake and kicking! Now it's just about putting in work-- pay attention to the world and art around you, write often and badly and slowly and smally, and figure out what connective webbing looks like for you. Stories really are living things. You have to give them the space, attention, resources, and love to grow, and you have to help them along. Don't be discouraged that you're just beginning this journey but can't sprint to the finish line right now. Writers are also living things, who need space, attention, resources, and love to grow 😊 Just keep writing and taking risks and you'll see a pay off.
Oh! And READ! READ EVERYTHING. Creativity rarely grows in a vacuum. You have to see good art to make good art. You won't know what possibilities are unless you're out seeing what other people are doing. A certain turn of phrase, a camera movement, character interactions, descriptions, these all can inspire you or just give you the knowledge and confidence to grow as a writer. Read everything you want, watch everything you like, listen to music and pay attention to the lyrics or the instrumentals, devour podcasts and news stories, go to art museums and make up stories to go along with the pictures. The whole world is there to teach you and help you grow.
