Something about Luo Binghe being starved, desperate, clawing for love and affection and Shen Qingqiu just being there, soft and calm and quiet, cradling his cheek and whispering reassurances despite seeing the raw hunger for more. Shen Qingqiu offering up everything he is to Luo Binghe like it’s easy, like it’s the natural way of things. Luo Binghe being terrified to accept it and terrified to lose it at the same time.

For a lot of people who claim to love/understand Astarion, there’s a whole lot of fanart and fanfic of him just being mindlessly horny or sexy when part of his entire arc was that you shouldn’t place value solely on appearances alone. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I love both the Phantom and Raoul, but listening to Past the Point of No Return reminded me of something I read once about how media often depicts villainous love interests.
Villains are often coded in certain ways, and villain romance interests tend to represent sexual awakening and urges and exploring your inner darkness. They are often pitted against ‘childhood sweetheart’ love, which is represented as pure and virginal.
The female hero will be tempted by the villain, of the darkness and sexuality and power that comes with it. Then she will often be slapped on the wrist to see the error in her ways and end up with the pure, childhood sweetheart, sexless love that the other interest represents.
Now this isn’t an argument about who Christine should have ended up with but more how the media depicts certain love interests and pits them against each other. Why does the villain represent sexual desire and the heroic love interest doesn’t, and what does that say about how the media represents female sexuality?
Female protagonists’ stories often have this weird complex about women’s innocence/purity vs sexuality. Meanwhile male protagonists often do get to be with ‘sexy’ female love interests. But when a female protagonist tries to enjoy her sexuality, she often ends up being terrorised or punished in some regard.
Because I can’t lie, Past the Point of No Return was something else. But Christine doesn’t get to have a similar tension with Raoul like that? In comparison, their dynamic is very saccharine and innocent, ‘Little Lotte lost her scarf, let’s talk about the games we used to play as children’. It’s weird how they only give sexual energy to villains as a way to show that they are ‘bad’. Why is female sexuality framed as something harmful and evil?
Because goddamn, the tension in Point of No Return was undeniable. Our man was starved. He almost seems afraid to touch her, as if he can’t believe what is happening is real. That slight tentativeness is just *chefs kiss*

its kinda interesting how a lot of people still underestimate bad in a way? like a lot of people are aware cellbit is always on a separate mission, same with forever and even phil, but bads got no suspicion on him, even with a color-changing skin...it seems like only forever and foolish are keeping an eye on it.
idk how to explain it? its just interesting how bad is acting So suspicious and hes still just flying under everyone's radar. hes so openly bloodthirsty, but no one is suspecting that hes doing some fucked up shit to find his son

learning that shakespeare's father died around the time that hamlet was written has recontextualised it a lot for me. hamlet isn't the play about the death of a son (and hamnet died around three to five years before hamlet was written); it's a play about the death of a father! now, you know what shakespeare play features a character's grief over the loss of their only son, written in the mid-1590s? king john.

You know what, I've been thinking it, but now I want to say it:
Dr. Facilier has Tumblr sexymen energy.
I mean just look at him.
Tumblr media
He fits the qualifications to a T. He has the suit and style, he's skinny, he's got the charisma, and charm. Not to mention, he's got some smooth dance moves.

I just had an epiphany
so do y'all remember that thing where old-timey human stumbled into a world of monsters and magic and slowly over time became one of them by consuming things from their realm (possibly artificially extending their lifespan) until they're barely recognisable as human and then one day new humans show up they insist they've always been a part of this world even if they probably weren't

I find it extremely funny that all my life the adults around me have imposed this idea of "depression isn't real, people just act like that because they want attention" when in reality one of the first behaviors I adopted when I started being depressed was to lock myself away, cry in silence so no one noticed, mask in front of others, etc.
And of course there's probably an explanation behind this but I just find it ironic, people points at us and label us as attention seekers when isn't wanting attention something all humans crave? Actually the fact that we seek the contrary and aisle ourselves should be the odd behavior but no one points it out, why is that

It is endlessly funny to me that in the grand debate of who should be Batman when Bruce can’t do it anymore, everyone seems to use “That time [X] became Batman & was Evil about it” as evidence for why [X] shouldn’t ever take up the mantle, while their own blorbo of choice’s time as Evil Batman was obviously bad writing & never should’ve happened.

A weird phenomenon is hating the way a character is reduced to an object, but still enjoying how well that object is written and incorporated into the story.
If most of your major female characters could be replaced with a non-sentient mcguffins without losing any narrative value, something is horribly wrong. At the same time those mcguffins would still be well written and their narrative value still valuable. Does that make sense?

There's like 3 different sides of sapphic that I've noticed:
The super bubbly purely romantic side where you can feel the electricity between the characters.
The questioning side where one or both is questioning themselves and their attraction.
The full on sensual side.
