What is your opinion on all of the pokemon gens? Is there gens you like over others? Or do you love them all equally?
I love all of the gens for different reasons, but there are certainly some I love more than others. Fair warning, I'm gonna be a bit critical with some of these, and if you disagree that's totally fine!! These are just my opinions ^^
Anyways, I'll put them all under the cut since this is about to get VERY long and rambly ^^; Sorry about that, I have a lot of thoughts and there are many regions, haha.
I will also include TL;DR's for every region for those who just want to know briefly what my opinion is on a specific generation.
GEN 1: KANTO - (RBY/FRLG/LGPE)
I'm going to start this one off by saying that the Kanto games are great for series starters. It was a wonderful introduction into the world of Pokémon and has a simple yet enjoyable story. It also contains some of the most popular and recognizable characters and the first season of the anime is my favorite. There's a reason it went on to become a franchise that is one of the most popular in the world.
But, and this is probably gonna be controversial, I think the Kanto games are kinda....boring. It really does have that 'first game' feeling to me. There's kind of a story with Team Rocket and I really like the twist of Giovanni being a Gym Leader and your rival being Champion, but other than that it's kinda...meh! Quite a few of the Pokémon in the Kanto dex feel like filler and aren't really as memorable as later gens.
I've played through Let's Go: Eevee and had a pretty fun time! But I don't really see myself playing through Kanto as often. It's just kinda meh. I think they only got better from here.
TL;DR: The weakest of the gens, but makes for a great first installment to the franchise and I respect it for that.
GEN 2: JOHTO - (GSC/HGSS)
Johto was definitely an improvement from Kanto, and I like it a LOT more. There still isn't a very strong story but I do think they build upon the foundation that Kanto created very well. Allowing the player to travel between Kanto and Johto in the postgame is amazing and it makes for the biggest world with the most locations in any mainline Pokémon title I believe
I love the music, the mythology with the two new Legendary Pokémon they added, and in HGSS having your Pokemon follow behind you is a feature I never tire of. This following feature was implemented so much better than in future titles, in my humble opinion. Johto may still lack a bit in the story and memorable Pokémon department (at least imo), but I think that they compensated HEAVILY with the new mechanics and features that are still used to this day. Stuff like breeding and shiny Pokémon are all thanks to gen 2.
TL;DR: Beautiful region (especially in HGSS), lovely soundtrack. Still not as much story, but it's a big improvement from gen 1 and it compensates by having so much more content in it.
GEN 3: HOENN - (RSE/ORAS)
Hoenn took a big risk by separating itself from Kanto, and I'm really glad it did. The Hoenn games are tied with Sinnoh for my second favorite gens in the series, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
I believe Hoenn is the first game where the badge quest almost comes second to the overarching plot of saving the world from the criminal organizations. In Kanto/Johto, it was mostly just scaring off bad guys who were up to some evil shenanigans but didn't really have much of an 'ultimate plan' that would threaten the region. In Hoenn though, things get much more interesting as you battle against Team Aqua or Magma (or both) in order to stop them from summoning an ancient legendary Pokémon that would flood/dry up the world.
The stakes are very high, and I really like that. It gives us more to work towards other than being the very best trainer. Not to mention the Pokémon designs are super good and unique and are some of my favorites. Hoenn is the Pokémon game that I have replayed the most, it's just a lot of fun.
The music in Hoenn is ICONIC, Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza Battle lives in my head rent-free, as does Aqua/Magma Boss, Elite Four Battle, Abandoned Ship and so many more.
TL;DR: Great story, great Pokémon designs, great music, Gen 3 is popular for a very good reason. Tied with Sinnoh for my 2nd fave gen.
GEN 4: SINNOH - (DPPT/BDSP)
I'm going to mainly focus on the original Sinnoh titles and their remakes, but I'll do a very quick little opinion on Legends: Arceus:
L:A: It's very very good!! It does lean pretty heavy into Sinnoh myth but I think it explains it enough for new players to grasp. Graphics and the human dialogue animations could be better, probably the weakest aspect of it. But other than that, wonderful game!! I've already replayed it once and it's truly a lot of fun.
NOW onto the main Sinnoh titles: As I stated before, it's tied with Hoenn for my second favorite gen in the series. I'm sure you can tell by now that I really like the games with an interesting story and that's why I enjoy Sinnoh as well.
Gen 4 is when they introduced the mythology of the Pokémon world, how it came to be and the deity Pokémon that rule over it. It's very neat and I love all of the hidden books and details that may be overlooked that add even further to the lore. It's not really shoved in your face too much about what these Pokémon are all about. All you know is that Cyrus is fascinated by them and he seems to have something to do with them. The rest of the lore is pretty much up to the player to dig around and find bits of old texts. Cyrus' laptop has research notes in it about them, Canalave Library's top floor houses several ancient books. It's not entirely spoon-fed to you, and I like that about it.
I do think Platinum is the much more improved and 'definitive' version of Sinnoh, as the characters seem a bit more fleshed out (Cyrus in particular) as well as some more quality-of-life things like the expanded Pokédex and not having to backtrack all the way to Hearthome for the badge, you just get it on your first visit.
The Pokémon designs here are also very iconic to me, however....it may have a bit too many legendaries. I know Sinnoh is all about mythology and legends but...Pokémon like Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin and Heatran feel shoehorned in. I like them, don't get me wrong (I have no strong feelings about Heatran though). But I can admit they're a little unnecessary :')
The music is also VERY good and atmospheric here, with a lot of the town and route themes being my favorites. Route 209, Route 216, Canalave City and Game Corner are just a few of my faves :)
Anyways, I have a soft spot for gen 4, it was my first Pokémon game and the one I have put the most hours into. I have never reset my original Pearl copy because it's just meaningful to me that way. Lots of memories in that game.
TL;DR: Sinnoh is a really interesting region with lots to discover. I love the music, the Pokémon and the mythology this gen introduced. Platinum is much better than DP/BDSP though and I believe it to be the definitive version of Sinnoh.
GEN 5: UNOVA (BW/BW2)
And now we reach gen 5, my absolute favorite in the series. And I don't think it's hard for me to explain why as it combines all of the elements that I love about Pokémon games into one game.
The story. It's just so thought-provoking for a Pokémon game. I love most of the stories, but this is the only one that makes me think. The titles are Black and White, but the plot certainly isn't when compared to the previous titles. In Hoenn, for instance, there is a clear and definitive bad guy who wants to control a legendary to do something that is a negative for everyone. But in Unova we are challenged by N, who seems to have noble intentions despite being an antagonist. He says what most people who hate the Pokémon series have been saying for years: that people only hurt Pokémon and they should live apart from one another.
It's very philosophical with its message which may seem complicated for most people, but for me, it really made me appreciate and feel more involved in the story. Not everything is so black and white, and this game shows us this.
I could go on for ages about the story and characters and their arcs, but maybe if you wanna hear me ramble more I will talk about it in another post. For now, I'd like to talk about the Pokémon designs and the music. The music?? Is amazing. I'm always playing the BW/BW2 soundtrack while I'm working. Some of my favorites include Village Bridge, Gear Station, Opelucid City (White), Driftveil City, Unwavering Emotions and Elite Four Battle.
As for the Pokémon designs, they are so unique and memorable to me that they've become some of my faves. Yes, even the ice cream cone that is stronger than you realize and carried me through the Elite Four. BW Forces you to rely on new Pokémon and form new bonds rather than rely on your trusty Gyarados or Machamp. It isn't a huge problem for me since I tend to exclusively use Pokémon native to the region I'm playing but change is a gooddd thing.
TL;DR: Pokémon BW/BW2 are absolute masterpieces and my favorites in the series. The love and care that went into them is obvious and i am desperate for more unova content nintendo please im starvi
GEN 6: KALOS (XY)
This is going to be a bit of a turn, but while I like Kalos as a region and have put many hours into Pokémon Y, the story is...well...it's certainly not my favorite, lets put it that way.
I'll go ahead and start with the positives because even though Kalos isn't in my top 3, it does have very good things in it. Such as Mega Evolution, the switch to 3D was done very very well, and the music is also lovely and very unique.
Mega Evolution is probably the most popular and memorable thing about Kalos and for good reason. It gives us a chance to use some Pokémon that may have been overlooked before and gain an insane power boost now. Not all of them are created equally, however (looking at you Mega Kangaskhan and every Mega Pseudo-Legend that was already powerful to begin with and didn't need stronger forms).
The switch from 2D to 3D was done very well, and I remember importing so many Pokémon from my old games JUST to see what they looked like in 3D. It was so neat at the time, and seeing old Pokémon in this new style was such a cool experience!
The music is also very nice!! Some personal faves include Lumiose City, Trainer Battle, Laverre City and Xerneas/Yveltal battle.
As for the story...it's got a lot of. Weak points. First of all, Team Flare's plan doesn't really make a lot of sense to me and whenever I'm asked about Lysandre by my friends I just never remember what his deal is or why he hates the world so much and wants to destroy it. It's very vague and there's not really any hidden lore like with Cyrus about his past. All we really know is that he and Sycamore used to be friends. And then Lysandre turned to the dark side. Maybe there's more but I just don't really care that much about Lysandre...at all...to look into it. He's just kinda boring to me. 🙃
Not to mention that Megas are SEVERELY underutilized in XY. There's maybe like? 3? Fights? Where your opponent uses a Mega? And the final gym leader doesn't even use Pokémon with a full moveset? Even though by that time you're like level 40?
Honestly XY deserves a rambly post of its own but all in all despite its flaws I think it's an enjoyable game. Not my fave and not one I really return to often, but it is fun for what it offers.
TL;DR: More enjoyable to me than Kanto, but still has a lot of flaws. Definitely deserved a 3rd version. But the music, 3D graphics and Mega Evolutions are all well done.
GEN 7: ALOLA (SM/USUM)
I haven't replayed Alola in a hot minute so forgive me if I misremember parts or aren't as thorough. But concisely: I like Alola a lot! I really like the deviation they did from Gym battles and turned them into trials that you face. It's almost like the Noble Pokémon trials from Legends: Arceus, except there's more of them.
I like how theres different islands, the Kahunas all have really nice designs and the regional villain not being an 'Evil Team' was a really cool decision that deviated a lot from the other games! I ADORE Team Skull, they're all stupid and they're family to me.
I was very conflicted about Ultra Beasts for quite a while but I have recently come to like them. I think very weird alien Pokémon that come from another universe is such a neat concept and I actually hope they return in future games. I want to know more about Ultra Space and the wormholes!
The music is also very good, but there's not a whole lot of standouts for me. However the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart haunts my dreams forever.
I love the characters, the new Pokémon and Alola as a whole!! The biggest glaring downside though is that it's way too hand-holdy and there's wayyyyy too many cutscenes. It seems like every three steps triggers a cutscene or someone telling you what to do. It gets better later on in the game but the early game is pretty slow because of this. Also, I hardly ever use Z-moves. Not super interesting to me, but it's nice that any Pokémon can use them as opposed to the select few that can Mega Evolve.
TL;DR: Alola is a very good and enjoyable game with great characters and some of my fave Pokémon. Its main flaws are just that it's very hand-holdy and somewhat easy for experienced players.
GEN 8: GALAR (SWSH)
And finally we arrive in the Galar region. Sword and Shield get a lot of hate, and while I do think it has areas where it's lacking and it's not my favorite in the series, I don't think it deserves all of the hate that it gets. There is, however, room to criticize and that is what I will do. (Also: I haven't played the DLCs nor do I know enough about them to properly criticize, so I will just be talking about the base game)
But first! The good parts. The 3D models in the 3DS games suffered from lack of saturation disease, so I'm glad that SWSH fixes this. The Pokemon and the overworld is so vibrant (the wild area isn't as much, but the cities and routes are so overlooked imo, they're stunning). I love how Pokémon are walking around in the overworld like in LGPE, while others hide in the grass and can only be found if you search for them there. I also love how the Pokémon can be aggressive and chase you, it's great fun xD The camp, Pokémon jobs and the water bike are also great additions.
This is where I get a bit more critical. First, I find Dynamax a bit more interesting than Z-Moves, but it's still kinda eh. Not a lot of thoughts about it other than I think Gigantamax forms are a lot cooler than normal Dynamax even though the whole mechanic is pretty broken in competitive I hear. Ah well. It's a fine mechanic, I don't mind it existing.
And now the story. It's very reminiscent of XY where the potential is there but it just seems very unfinished. Chairman Rose's goal at least makes more sense than Lysandre's but that doesn't really make it compelling. I found it odd how Rose just summons Eternatus out of nowhere, this Pokémon that was never mentioned or hinted at beforehand and then he goes on to announce to the whole region that he made an oopsie and he's making that everyone else's problem. It's just very weird and feels a bit out of character for Rose. I know he's a paranoid man and has concerns for the region's future and all but this drastic measure just kinda came out of left field for me.
I will say though that before this moment, I found Rose to be a very funny and interesting character. I mean I kinda knew he would be the main villain but I found his paparazzi disguise and moments of braincell singularity charming. I think he would have made for a good antagonist but maybe not the best main villain.
Also I really really wish there were more fully animated cutscenes. That kinda goes for every 3 Pokémon game nowadays but just...seeing Zamazenta do a walk cycle while turning on the Y axis was just. So underwhelming.
TL;DR: SWSH may be flawed, but I did have fun playing it and there's a lot I love about it. I just wish the story was better executed and had some more interesting animations.

When the joke AU gets out of hand and now its like, a whole thing
SO uhm here is the post about the fake marriage on Pasio au! Where the whole fake marriage thing ended up becoming more of a B plot more then anything, oops. The premise kind of got lost on me as I went along.
First things first, here’s the information I gathered from the Hoenn timeline in Pokemas itself so yall know what im working with (and as a side note, if you have no idea about the basic story of Pokemon Masters, the rest of this entire post might be a little confusing);
-Brendan is Normans son, and May the daughter of professor Birch. Brendan has at least defeated Normans gym, and neither of them have met Aqua or Magma, nor Archie or Maxie.
-Magma and Aqua don’t seem to be publicly known as bad in any way.
-The meteor with Zinnia has already happened, and someone else took that destiny from her. (I’ll be honest- I never end up really explaining this here. I had no idea how to even begin making sense of this considering this is post game stuff and Brendan never even seems to have made it to the Elite Four as far as we know)
And with that ! Here’s the actual story I managed to make out of that.
-The backstories for Archie and Maxie are the same as they’d normally be. Things only get different once the ORAS plots would normally start.
Magma and Aqua both don’t commit crimes (such as orb or submarine stealing) with their uniforms on and under their team names. As such, they’re still seen as regular, legit environment organisations trying to better the region.
May and Brendan never get involved with them either. Between no meddling kids and their crimes not being tied back to them, things end up going pretty fast on their end.
-Their crimes aren’t connected nor is anyone looking into them as something bigger- right up until the orbs get stolen. Those are considered important enough artifacts to raise some attention, and so, Steven and Wallace brought on the case to investigate as the Hoenn champions.
-It’s a lot easier said then done, and while they start to suspect Aqua and Magma have something to do with it, they have no concrete proof. Still, they do their best to figure out if it’s them and what their intentions with it would be.
-Regrettably for them they are too slow. Maxie and Archie both make it to the sea cavern , and both raise their respective legendaries. Kyogre is there, Groudon is there, as a result even Rayquaza shows up. There’s a lot going on— and then, within a couple of minutes, there isn’t. All legendaries vanish into thin air, so fast that the population of Hoenn never even realised what was happening out on sea. Except for some unfortunate swimmers who never end up being believed.
Maxie and Archie feel devestated, and the Hoenn League who did notice what happened is very alarmed. Keeping the incident quiet as to not incite a panic, Steven and Wallace are pushed onto this case instead now- to locate the missing legendaries, and ensure they won’t cause any harm- and maybe figure out what caused them to awaken in the first place.
Wallace and Steven immediately link that to the orbs, and as such, Aqua and Magma. Still, they have no actual proof- no one outside their teams saw Archie or Maxie doing anything.
-The reason behind the sudden disappearances turns out to be Hoopa! Who brought all of them to Pasio. The legendaries immediately went from fighting mode into very confused mode. They don’t know where they are or what happened. Groudon ends up hiding in the volcano on the island, while Kyogre keeps to the bottom of the water surrounding the island. -Rayquaza however doesn’t hide itself- and instead, floats around on a mountain top on the island. Rumors start floating around about it, and before long Zinnia shows up and becomes a sync pair with it.
-Steven and Wallace hear Rayquaza is over in Pasio, and figure the other two might be as well- so they go over to investigate. They also talk some with Zinnia about Rayquaza, but since it appears to be fine and calm and Zinnia is not planning on giving it up, she ends up keeping it and they leave her be to search for Groudon and Kyogre instead.
-Magma and Aqua also catch wind of Rayquaza being over there, and even hear about some sightings of what appear to be Kyogre and Groudon around the island. Now the plan is to get over there and get them…. but the problem is that Steven and Wallace are both there, and they’re well aware those two suspect them- and that suddenly showing up for no reason would probably only worsen those suspicions. While the both of them have complete faith in their power as a team, they’d rather not pick a fight with two champions if they can avoid it- especially when they’re on an island full of other champions and elite four members who would probably back them up if asked.
-Going with their entire team would definitely be too suspicious. That’s out. Going with their admins might still be risky- Plus, they can’t exactly leave their teams unattended back in Hoenn. So, Maxie and Archie end up figuring that the best course of action would be for them to go alone, at least for the time being. Scout out if they can locate the legendaries and a way to get to them- and then call backup if needed.
…But if they both go alone at the same time and end up fighting each other while they’re there… it wouldn’t help their case.
-And so, after some thinking things over, Maxie ends up deciding it’d be best if they went together under a temporary truce. So off to Aqua to talk it over with Archie he goes! There, they come up with their plan; faking a marriage, and going to Pasio under the excuse of being on honeymoon. Steven and Wallace wouldn’t be expecting it, so maybe it’d throw them off track! And for the rest of the trainers on Pasio- well, who isn’t happy for a couple living their best life? With a little luck it’d immediately make people trust them a bit more.
-So to Pasio they go! Maxie takes Camerupt as his sync partner, Archie partners with his Sharpedo. They rent a little vacation home- for obvious reasons, they’ll have to live together for a while, but with a little luck they can just avoid each other most of the time. Besides, at least the ad specified there being two beds.
-They misread the ad. There’s one single two person bed. Archie is promptly demoted to sleeping on the couch.
In general, while they do well enough at faking being very affectionate and loving in front of people, the moment they’re back in their house it’s a lot of fighting.
-Steven and Wallace are not stupid, and are immediately wary when Maxie and Archie suddenly show up no matter how well they’re putting on an act. Still, there’s not a lot they can do except keep an eye on them and ensure they stay away from the areas Kyogre and Groudon are spotted.
-The rest of the island however thinks they’re nice! Look at the cute couple having fun. Good for them.
-Overall, while things are going decently okay for Archie and Maxie, Steven and Wallace constantly blocking off areas where they could gather intel and trailing their every move is really hindering their ability to be able to do much of anything. And so the four of them enter an awkward stand still, where neither can really get the other off the island.
-For a while, Maxie and Archie just try to put on the act as best as they can, to hopefully get Steven and Wallace to lower their guard. They go on ‚dates‘ together, hang out with the other people around the island, attend events together, etc. Steven and Wallace still don’t trust them for shit however, and end up pushing May and Brendan towards them in the hopes that they might be able to spot something off.
-Brendan and May have no idea what anyone is trying to do here, and actually really like Archie and Maxie. They help show them all there is on Pasio and introduce them to new people time and time again.
-Eventually, Maxie and Archie realise that this is going to take a lot longer then they were hoping for- between Steven and Wallace not budging, and the trainers on Pasio constantly keeping them busy- they’re going to need an excuse to keep staying here. And they don’t actually need to wait long! -While being a lot less aggressive and in people’s face about it, Archie still talks about the environmental impact the island has on the ocean around it a good bit to some of the other trainers there- he is leader of an environmental group focused on the sea back at home, after all! People actually start agreeing with him, to a point it even reaches Lear. Conceding something should be done, Sawyer starts working on putting a team together that would help undo the damage they’ve caused by making the oceans around the island more habitable for the Pokemon that were made homeless because of them. Archie is one of the first people to get asked to join the team- and having a job there makes a great excuse to stay a while longer. Besides, it’s still working towards his goal to some extent, so he’s down! -A bit after that Maxie ends up joining the team that made the island and is currently in charge of keeping it thriving. Same for him- the job still aligns with his ideals, so he doesn’t mind doing it.
-This was also the time Archie started having serious back pain from sleeping on the couch each night, so he took the bed as well. Maxie threatened to kick him out, Archie wished him luck with that and… well, they both just keep to their side of the bed now.
-Back at home, Magma and Aqua are being good legit environmental groups working within the law. It’s been gaining them a great reputation, and being fully legitimate and not having to fear getting charged for crimes is also very nice for the teens working as grunts there.
-And so back in Pasio, Maxie and Archie forcefully have to take a step back from their plans… to live relatively normal lives instead. Surprise surprise, it’s not actually that bad! They enjoy their jobs, they actually start making some friends, half the kids on the island seem to have adopted them as cool new uncles… and they even start fighting less in private! They can actually get along sometimes.
Eventually the realisation hits that they’re living out the lives they wanted- before they ever joined Rocket and everything went so terribly wrong. Except their marriage being ‚fake‘, this was more or less the future they envisioned… and it’s very weird to think about.
-For Maxie, he does get sad reminiscing, and reminisce he does- but as long as Archie keeps going , he’d never give up his plans. While originally raising Groudon was truly out of his ideals, over time (and when their original breakup happened) it became less about that- and more about ‚winning‘ - winning out over Archie, and proving to both himself and the other he’d been right all along. Even when the evidence started pointing towards that not being the case and Tabitha only agreeing this was a bad idea, he was so caught up in not being able to lose now he never backed down- and just reassured himself the science had to be wrong.
As long as Archie is going, so is he.
-Archie however…. Archie’s plans of flooding the world to reset it- undo the damage humanity caused by ending it entirely- were born out of feeling like there truly was no other option, truly was no other good left. Being focused on that goal every day, it wasn’t hard to stay in that mindset. But now, having to forcibly take a step back- suddenly getting to live a normal life again, with a way to help that doesn’t require death and a support system outside of Aqua… Suddenly the hope returns that maybe there is more out there- maybe there is another way to go about this.
And so, after a lot of thinking, and a lot of doubting every answer he came up with- finally he rang up Shelly and Matt to talk things over, and talk about leaving Kyogre be. Shelly was thrilled- at the end she didn’t trust his plans with Kyogre anymore anways and seeing Archie finally with agree with her on that was a big relief to her. Matt didn’t entirely understand, but Archie seemed happier with this idea, and Shelly definitely seemed happier with this idea- so he certainly didn’t mind.
Afterwards, Shelly ends up privately talking to Archie some more, where he confided a lot in her about stuff he never told her before. It was a lot to take in, and she definitely wasn’t happy about his plans having always been to more or less commit genocide on humanity without ever having told them- but at the end of the day, he’s still her friend, no damage has actually been done, and he’s finally talking to her about it so they can work it out. As such, with some help from her, Archie ends up going to therapy on the regular to help keep him in a better headset.
-After all of this, Archie pulls Maxie aside to let him know he’s giving up on Kyogre, and Maxie… just doesn’t know how to feel about it at all- doesn’t even know if he can trust him. He certainly wasn’t expecting this either way. For a while, Archie just goes about his day on Pasio, while Maxie went very very quiet, just watching him from a distance.
They both spend so much time on this- suddenly given up was something he never thought would be an option, and it’s a lot to process. Besides, Archie could be lying. ….But truthfully, he’s known the other way too long to believe that. Archie is serious about this, and it’s not particularly hard to tell.
So, after a lot of hemming and hawing, he too finally rings up Courtney and Tabitha and calls of their mission with Groudon.
Magma and Aqua are both just legit regular environmental organisations now.
-Now with that decision made, they end up talking a lot over between each other themselves. About their past, about their teams, and about what they want to do now. This is where they finally decide to actually give their relationship another chance as well. Not necessarily as a romantic relationship- thought not strictly as just friends either. They decide to just take it slow, see what they’re comfortable with, and see where it takes them from there.
(A lot of trainers in Pasio actually worry this is when they got into a fight- since they stop acting overly affectionate to put on an act, and instead get to have awkward conversations trying to rekindle their relationship. Everyone is so worried about what happened. Sorry guys, they’ll be okay)
-Though they fully intent on going back to Hoenn and their teams, they’re not in a hurry to leave and stick out their job contract which only were for about half a year total anyways. During this, even Steven and Wallace start noticing a change in them and finally lower their guard a bit. They never do end up attempting to get to the legendaries- they’re just enjoying their time here now.
-When they do finally get back to Hoenn, they merge the teams and help the land and the sea together now. Archie also ends up convincing Maxie to join him for therapy sometimes- even without them almost ending the world, they do still both have their things to work trough.
-Groudon and Kyogre just vibe on Pasio now. They let kids battle them for fun sometimes. They’re doing alright.
-Brendan and May end up visiting Archie and Maxie a lot! That’s their cool gay uncles now.
-Somewhere along the way, as time passes, they actually end up legitimising the marriage documents they faked at the very start. And they still return to Pasio from time to time to meet up with the friends they made there. :]
Apologies if any of this was messy or unclear! it was a lot to try and condense down into a single post and I did my best, but ykno. if there did appear to be smth missing feel free to shoot me a message or an ask orz also this is my second time writing this post- first time i made the stupid mistake of typing it up in browser. And after over an hour of typing this all up…. tumblr refreshed for no reason, and deleted all of it. so writing this all a second time has been even harder then the first. ;; it hurt so bad.
Also, I do have a lot of thoughts n ideas abt the actual relationships they end up having w other characters on the island, but I’m saving that for another post! With the premise of Pasio there’s just so much potential to stuff all these diff characters from diff games into a place togehter and i want to make the most of that- so its prolly gonna b another long post lmao. i wont make this one even longer then it already is, so diff post it is
just know that they did in fact once see Giovanni on the island, and they almost ended up throwing hands.

Meet Lonnie
So uh...May have made a Hardenshipping fankid.
Tumblr media
His name's Lonnie, an orphan street kid that Archie and Maxie adopted who counts as a fankid in my eyes, god damn it.
I can’t draw muscles or children to save my life.
Originally @cryptidanaphafsi did this I with their fankid I believe?
Info under the cut because I really started to ramble about details...A lot.
Bad Quality picture, but his adult versions both have a keystone in the middle of their mask that they use for Mega Evolution.
Notes:
RSE canon is Emerald, which leads in Alpha Sapphire in the future, though in this canon way, RSE events get resolved Without a protagonist. Hypothetical game futures for the SM and USUM games.

-Still living on the streets at this point, 8-10 in age.
-Met a few times over the course of the story, usually found hiding around a corner after an encounter with Maxie or Archie(outside of hideout encounters), seems mostly in awe of how cool the plans seem.
-Selectively mute, if talked to he'll make gestures towards the player but since the player is about ten, all you really get from talking to him is "...."
-Jumpy, running off as soon as the player is done talking
-Vitiligo
-In the Sapphire & Emerald versions of the game, post game, he's absolutely Terrified of Kyogre, developing Aquaphobia as he grows older.
-Sometime post game, Archie and Maxie pick him up bc he still seems to tag along just behind one of them, and hey, the kid needs a home. And when they’ve patched things up, they’re really good dad’s.
ORAS Version, constants-
- Adopted pre-game and raised by Maxie and Archie before they split bc of differing ideals...again.
- Mid-twenties.
- Team Magma Admin.
- Aquaphobia from past trauma, selectively mute.
- I can't draw muscles but he's definitely the strongest person there, thanks to Archie and a bit of Matt.
- As an adult, Vitiligo patches have spread and caused part of his hair to grow in white.
- Personality wise, he's a rather nice man, only really being a sore loser. And takes after Maxie alot in the brains department, including dumbassery.
- He’s dating both an Aqua Grunt and a Magma Grunt, don’t tell his dads though. A grunt in the Magma hideout asks you if you want to place a bet on that happens when the bosses find out, then realizes you are Not one of the grunts, and runs off.
- Aqua Grunt is named Dew
- Magma Grunt is named Ashe
- I will draw them eventually, they will be mentioned elsewhere.
Omega Ruby -
-he appears somewhat sporadically, usually around Maxie. Fought once at Mossdeep city when the player beats the gym, viewing the player as a threat to Maxie's goal...and wanting to make use of himself, aquaphobia keeping him from following the rest of the team down to the Seafloor Cavern. Team: Crobat, Camerupt, Mightyena, Sealeo.
-A Grunt, Ashe, follows him around and acts as an interpreter. Talking directly to Lonnie is always "..." before the grunt buts in to explain what he's trying to say.
-When defeated by the player, he'll turn to the grunt, signing furiously, only for the grunt to exclaim "I can't say that to a child!" before Lonnie leaves in a huff.
- During the Delta Episode he's fought at the Magma Hideout, without Ashe, absolutely Livid about what Zinnia did to Maxie, and fighting the player as soon as they enter, seeing them as just something else that'll upset his dad. Team: Crobat, Camerupt, Mightyena, Walrein.
- Post Delta Episode, you'll actually find him alone in a house on the Battle Resort. When talked to, he still won't talk, but after interacting with him Maxie walks in to explain that he and his son were there, trying to lay low, relax a bit, and they're waiting on "a certain someone" to show up for a talk.
Alpha Sapphire Version, aka the Canon Version-
- Not very active story wise, always seen rather ominously popping up mere seconds after an interaction with Team Aqua. He doesn't have an interpreter this time, so all the player really gets is "...." then a yes/no text box before he leaves.
- Appears on Mt. Chimney with Maxie to try and stop Team Aqua's little attempt. Maxie will actually translate some of what Lonnie's trying to say, and while it would be nice, he doesn't exactly explain Why Lonnie tends to be tailing Team Aqua, Archie most specifically
-And ho boy. When Kyogre gets awoken, this poor man is having the Worst day.
- In Sootopolis, he's seen quite visibly shaking, signing Something at Archie, who might be having a "Oh shit." moment and a half because his Son is VERY MUCH AFRAID OF WATER, AND VERY MUCH CAN. NOT. SWIM.
- So yeah. Not a fun time.
- Half of what he's signing is ruined by how shaky his hands are. Ashe looks ready to strangle Archie, and Dew is reeling from the reality and Actually starts cursing Archie out as soon as the player leaves to handle Kyogre.
- Tbh if the two boys didn’t start trying to murder Archie first, Maxie might’ve.
- When Kyogre is captured, when the player leaves and all is said and done, he gives the player a piece of Cameruptite with a small little Thank You note.
- Battle Resort/Battle Maison, he is once again found in a house, but this time Maxie is already there. And once the player talks to the two, Archie walks in, but when that happens, the player is asked to leave so they can have a Family chat.
Sun & Moon Games-
- Okay this is just me being self indulgent and including him in my favorite games of the series, plus it’s just neat.
- Basically, he’s there on a honeymoon with Ashe and Dew.
- Even after the teams disbanded, he’s very partial to his Magma outfit. Only real change coming coming from the removal of the Magma symbols on his vest. Still keeping the combined symbols on his mask.
- More or less appears as a cameo. The only reason they’re even having a Honeymoon in Alola is because it has both Water and Volcanos near eachother.
- Shows up in post game, investigating the Altar of the Sunne/Moone as the idea of other worlds really peaked his interest.
- Funny Images: 6′0″ string bean and a 5′7″ man with average muscle trying to carry a 6′5″ man with muscle from hell because the waves touched him and he freaked out.
Ultra Sun & Moon Games -
- Mostly the same.
- With the addition of the player actually getting his help against Rainbow Rocket
- When reaching the mansion, Lonnie will be there. Along with Ashe and Dew.
- He’ll then “ask” which side the player wants to take on, fighting either Archie or Maxie depending on choice. Vs. Archie, he takes Ashe with him, Vs. Maxie, he takes Dew. The other of his husbands goes with the player to help handle the other boss.
- After this, you can find Lonnie, Dew, and Ashe at the battle tree.
- Funny Images: Trying to get Lonnie onto Aether, a man made island in the middle of the ocean.
Pokespe Version -
- His age is more me throwing darts at a board trying to guess when shit happens.
- He’s alot more playful and joking in this version.
Ruby Sapphire Chapter -
- 16
-Actually adopted prior to the Ruby&Sapphire Chapter, but in a surprising twist, stays mainly with Archie.
- Interacts with Ruby and Sapphire once, maybe twice through the whole Manga.
- Hard for Archie to be intimidating with a giant of a teen in a life jacket clinging to him everytime they get near water, but he makes it work
- He stays with Arche and team Aqua for two reasons and two reasons only
- One, he lacks past trauma with Kyogre in pokespe, thus doesn’t fear water as much and can stand to be around it more. Two, alchoholics scare him more than water ever could.
-Along with that, Archie also has the safer public persona, so win win on his part
- Lonnie, being a teen, does tend to wander though. Barely seen for most of the chapters. When Archie and Maxie have their fight, he's there for a split second, before letting out his Crobat and fleeing.
-I don't have it all ironed out, but basically, the whole battles between Magma and Aqua through the whole arc have slowly built up this fear in Lonnie's brain when it comes to his dad's, and this is the tipping point.
- Sadly, both leaders are a bit preoccupied to notice at first that he's gone, and it's a fullblown panic after the fact.
-Sadly tho, this doesn't slow down their plans. But Blaise and Amber are put in charge of trying to track him down and find him.(Not in a bad way, more in a Extremely worried parents with a missing son way)
- Cue end of arc.
Emerald Arc
-still 16
-Makes brief cameos, he tends to linger around the back.
- Actually, screw it, I'll make this pretty later but he and Emerald do become friends.
- Has a small interaction with Emerald, writing about how he finds his equipment cool, and is in awe of how he calms pokemon.
-And boy oh does this lead to some Fun
- Cut the confrontation with Guile in the cave, the first Jirachi attempt
- Alot changes here.
- First of all, while Jirachi still escapes, Guile lingers for a moment. Looking at Lonnie for a long moment. And while he does 'reflect' back the attacks with his sword, he sends the attack flying off into a wall instead of at Emerald and Lonnie.
- Later, Guile actually snatches the poor kid, pulling off somewhere just to have a few moments to make sure he's okay
- If you know the manga, you know it's gonna be revealed to Lonnie at this point that Guile is, in fact, Archie. And while he tries to avoid the details, he does tell Lonnie he needs Jirachi to fix things
- Lonnie assumes, sadly naive, that this has to do with Maxie and their family. Even asking Archie where his other dad is, only to be met with silence.
- That doesn't settle well with him, actually demanding to know what happens, atleast as much as you can demand when you can’t talk. The last he heard about them was nearly destroying Hoenn so what happened?
- Archie doesn’t tell him, straight up Refuses to tell him what happened.
- This does not go well. Leading to Lonnie once more running off.
- Lonnie keeps in touch with Emerald after the arc is over, basically adopted him as a little brother because they’re both weird looking kids, Emerald being unusually short, and Lonnie having Vitiligo.
- He runs into Amber after this and kind of just, vibes there, treats Amber like an uncle, and that’s who looks after him for the next few years.
ORAS Arc -
- 20
-Lives with Amber, mostly helping the man with fishing and all around, just trying to have someone around he can 'talk' to without needing an interpreter or to write down every word he says.
-Team Aqua....2!
-He does end up joining the New Team Aqua, since he feels more safe with them in Pokespe. Along with this, he’s curious about where they came from and what’s going on here.
-Looks most like my concept sketch for him in this version.
- Eventually just, disepears in the midst of fighting. He's learned enough and doesn't want to face that all.
- Listen when I tell you. When he sees Maxie and Archie, he's pissed.
-And when The Dustening happens...
- He actually does cry. Hell, it's probably the only time he speaks, begging in a hoarse voice he never uses for his dad's to stay there. Just for once. Let them be a family just for Once.
- It doesn't work.
- Funny Images: Emerald, looking up at Lonnie who is like 3-4 times their height: “I AM GOING TO STEAL YOUR KNEECAPS!!!!” Lonnie, amused, signing: “You-can-try.”
-Pokemon Seen: Crobat, Sharpedo, Sandslash.
Sun and Moon Arc -
- 22
-He actually appears here.
- Listen, he's a smart man, and he knows a lot.
-Appears after that small time skip after Sun and Moon disepear through the portals, ultimately he's here investigating the portals.
- He 'talks' with Kukui and Burnet to try and figure out what's going on.
-I don't know how it'd be incorporated, but basically, he's trying to figure out where the Hell his dad's are. And if these Wormholes can help him, by god is he going to use them
- Knows that, most likely, they’re dead and gone for good. But still holds out hope that somewhere out there, they’re still alive.
- He's still wearing the life jacket. Less for Aesthetic, more because he’s scared shitless about being on an island.
- Are this chapter is where he would have started dating Dew and Ashe, having met them when that whole, other Team Aqua & Magma were made in ORAS.

Drabble: If RSE/ORAS got the Pokemon Origins treatment
Rso **Preface: this is mainly a draft of an idea I had while driving today. But I was thinking--what if our beloved Hoenn games got a miniseries anime? How would it play out, plot-wise and character-wise? Let’s find out!**
“Welcome to the world of Pokemon,” narrates a familiar voice. Various shots of Pokemon relaxing in their habitats throughout Hoenn flash by--a clan of Zigzagoon chase each other around the tall grass of Route 103; Lotad and Lombre bathe in a puddle as Sirskit and Masqerain buzz about; a troublesome Wurmple wakes a sleeping Slaking, which leads to impending chaos until a passing Shroomish’s spore lulls everyone back to sleep once more; Wingull fly above the sandy beaches of Petelburg city. These are brief glimpses into the world we are about to see, the adventure we are about to embark on. It is revealed that these images and the Professor’s narration are from a YouTube video playing on our protagonist’s PokeNav in the back of a moving van. The van’s door finally opens, and we see our protagonist’s face for the first time: a boy, about twelve, stands tall and stretches before running toward his new home. He’s ecstatic to begin his Pokemon journey!
The boy finds it difficult to help unpack while his mother directs a group of Machoke and Vigoroth to take boxes upstairs. The boy (we’ll call him Brendan) overhears his mom’s phonecall with Norman, his estranged father whose gym leader salary brought them this new life in Hoenn. Norman Brendan’s mom, Caroline, have been separated for a year, since Norman’s position as a Hoenn gym leader has made it tough to maintain a relationship with his family. Brendan hopes he and his mom reconcile their relationship. Caroline hangs up with Norman and advises Brendan to visit the home next door, as this region’s professor and his family live there. Brendan reluctantly obliges.
While on the way to the Birch’s, Brendan overhears a cry for help in the distance. He races to the edge of town where a child tells him the professor is being attacked by a wild Poochyena. Brendan rushes over to a frantic Birch, where he is told to reach inside his bag, grab a pokeball, and throw it. The pokemon that comes out is none other than Treecko. Thinking about what he learned from observing battles growing up in Johto, Brendan realizes this Pokemon likely knows Pound. He shouts to attack the Poochyena with a Pound, and it sheepishly runs away. Treecko looks at Brendan curiously, and nods in understanding. The professor approaches Brendan to thank him for saving him, and asks him to meet at his lab that afternoon.
On his way home, Brendan sees a girl about his age watering a playful Mudkip in her backyard, at the house next door. The girl’s eyes shimmered like the night sky. Her hair blew gently in the breeze, and her smile...oh, her smile...was contagious. Brendan realized he was staring when she catches his gaze, and waves him down. She introduces herself as the professor’s daughter, May, and asks if he has a pokemon. Brendan answers back that he has to meet the professor in his lab that afternoon, perhaps to get a pokemon and finally begin his journey. May offers to come with.
*******************************************************************************************
Ok so! It’s been a WHILE since I’ve written like this. It’s good practice to get back into a creative mindset, after all! Before I continue, some quick notes on character/what I foresee happening:
-This takes place in the non-megastone universe. Therefore, Mega-evolution does not exist.
-Brendan and May are equal protagonists. -Brendan is your typical go-getter. He was raised in Johto but often took trips to Kanto with his parents before they separated. Kindhearted, eager, ambitious and spirited, he aims to take on the Hoenn League and become the region’s champion. He has a complicated relationship with his father who he hasn’t seen since he was promoted to Hoenn gym leader, and much of the pressure Brendan puts on himself are to impress his dad. He has a crush on May, but he doesn’t realize it until later when she shows how much she cares for him. Brendan also befriends Wally, who looks up to him as an older brother figure. Brendan takes Wally under his wing and lets him learn battling from him. Brendan is generally good natured, but can get discouraged when he loses battles and especially when his loved ones and Pokemon are in danger. He also has a tendency to be sarcastic and witty, especially when he teases May or when he encounters Team Aqua/Team Magma. -As Birch’s daughter, May was always surrounded by Pokemon and fascinated by them, as well as the Pokemon-centric world she lives in. She is easily excitable, and finds joy in discovering new methods of battling, types of Pokemon, abilities, and trainers alike. She always carries a notebook with her to learn about the world around her and often asks for interviews after she battles someone, eager to learn as much as she can. May has two starter pokemon--it is revealed she has a Torchic she keeps at the lab as well as a Mudkip. She switches between them as her out-of-the-ball pokemon, and they have a friendly rivalry with one another for May’s attention. -May comes off as confident and carefree, but every time Brendan beats her in battle, she gets continually discouraged and downtrodden...though she doesn’t show it. She worries she won’t be able to keep up with him as he keeps advancing in his gym battle journey earning badges on the first go, while May often has to rematch gym leaders and try new strategies. She wonders if battling is really her thing, or if she should consider another option. May is afraid of following in her father’s footsteps as a researcher, as she has always wanted to create her own destiny with her Pokemon. Over time, May becomes less and less confident until she finally decides to head back to Little Root when she and Brendan meet up again in Lilycove. -While in Slateport, May and Brendan come across a popular Pokemon Contest Coordinator named Lysia and her Altaria. She invites them to participate in a contest with her, but Brendan’s heart is set on taking on the league. May decides to consider entering. -May admires Brendan’s drive, spirit, and ability to get along with any Pokemon or person. When they tag battle, they’re an unstoppable team! -May realizes she has feelings for Brendan when she sees him on TV at Sootopolis City. She leaves the dinner table in a huff, and commands her Altaria to fly her there...even if she wasn’t a great battler on her own, May knows Brendan needs her. And she needs him too. -When Brendan battles his father, he tries to reason with him and impress him with his battling technique. When Brendan beats him, Norman is cold and cunning, leading to a brutal argument between Brendan and Norman. Norman breaks down and admits he acts this way because he himself was afraid of failure. He realizes he failed his family by moving away and not being present in Brendan’s life. Brendan is not quick to forgive...he had been trying for so long to earn his father’s approval, but he realized too late that Norman was a coward. Brendan takes his badge and leaves. -While traveling together, Wally joins May and Brendan for a short time. -The end of the world scenario was fueled by both teams Aqua and Magma. May and Brendan encounter them at different parts of their journey, both together and apart. In Sootopolis, Kyogre and Groudon are fighting and wreaking havoc on the city. Steven Stone asks Brendan to call on Zinnea, a dragon lore keeper, to help resurrect the only force that can stop their fighting: Rayquaza. Brendan asks May to come with him, and together, they awaken Rayquaza. May uses combined tools and strategies she learned from her interviews to instruct Brendan on capturing Rayquaza, who finally puts an end to the whole ordeal. -Brendan’s final team: Sceptile, Aggron, Flygon, Wailord, Swellow, and Sableye. -May’s final team: Combusken, Mudkip, Altaria, Gardevoir, Raichu, Breloom More to come? Maybe! Just wanted to jot all this down. A lot of thoughts running through my brain tonight.

im in a very nostalgic mood about rse/oras and youre the first person that came to my mind i could talk about it with! i apologize for not coming off anon, im anxious jhdfj say, riley, what would you change about its plot/story? like is it there a particular thing you would like to remove or add?
no it’s alright, i totally get what it’s like to be anxious fsdksdjsaksjaks  i am too, trust me. so please don’t worry about it!
but as for your question... well, in general, i would like if the games had a little more depth story-wise, but i suppose that’s asking too much from a series that’s geared toward children... but they managed to pull it off with black and white so while not making it overly serious but still somewhat dark and intriguing? so it isn’t impossible for game freak to balance it out for their older audiences, i think.
honestly i think the overall plot is fine as it is... i mean, it’s charmingly stupid at times since team magma and aqua’s whole scheme to harness the power of the super-ancient pokemon to expand the oceans/create more landmass is... well, any person who’s taken a 4th-grade science class would know that their logic is severely flawed and would inevitably result in disaster. but they’re not meant to be nefarious villains, just goofy saturday morning cartoon bad guys who were a bit foolish and almost unleashed the apocalypse onto the world BUT they learned their lesson in the end. i wouldn’t want to change a single thing about archie and maxie; they’re just too lovable. but i think it would’ve been nice if we could have heard a little more about their backstories... i always assumed that they knew each other long before kickstarting their respective teams, so i would love to know how their rivalry originally came about (maybe in masters we will when they are ultimately released? i hope so!) and they also used to be affiliated with the devon corporation which is... interesting, to say the least. i’d love to learn more about that.
i think more character development overall would do the story a little more justice, but that could apply to most of the games... with the exception of black/white of course and sun/moon.
however, i do think oras does a good job at expanding on the lore and introducing some new and interesting characters like zinnia. i think the delta episode is the absolute best post-game segment in the entire series - story-wise, not necessarily gameplay (because obviously the battle frontier + world tournament from bw2 are absolutely god tier). i really liked how it went into more depth about the origin of mega evolution and even referenced the kalos war... while also confirming the multiverse for crying out loud! i would’ve liked if it was just a bit longer but honestly i think oras improved the story of hoenn tenfold.
oh but if i had the option i would 100% give wallace more screentime since he’s literally the guardian of the cave of origin yet he doesn’t have that big of a role in the story?? it baffles me. oh and he deserves more moments with his boyfriend, too. but masters has been sating my hunger for originshipping content.
and this may be from a gameplay standpoint but the fact that hoenn, the region that introduced double battles, does not let you battle both steven and wallace at the same time boggles my mind. like imagine how cool it would’ve been when you rechallenge the league in oras and you have the option of fighting both of hoenn’s champions.... like, please, game freak. please.

I was talking with @blue-maelstrom and @pocket-pickett about Pokemon and the potential SwSh leaks and which versions we were going to get plus our starters (I think all three of us are going to get sword, I’m picking Sobble and both of them are picking Scorbunny, if I remember correctly.)
But then we started talking about how we felt about each of the generations of games, and I found it interesting the differences in our game preferences! They can tell you specifically their favorites, and while we didn’t talk much about gens 1-3 (which I know we all agree are very good, either because of nostalgia or actual quality) our favorites between 4-7 varied quite a bit.
I know we’re different people, so this shouldn’t actually surprise me, but it made me think about what my favorites in order would be, if we counted all the games in the main series (so that doesn’t include games like the Pokemon Dungeon series, Pokemon Rangers, Pokemon Stadiums, Coliseum, or Gale of Darkness, that weird one that had the Samurai, Trozei and Puzzle League and Hey You Pikachu and Pokemon Channel and Pokemon Let’s Go and Pokemon Rumble, and more that I can’t think of off the top of my head...so...yeah...)
And this is what I came up with:
This list includes games from Gen 1 to Gen 7...including the gen 1-3 remakes because Gen7 sort of made them back to be part of the mainline canon instead of just remakes: (1) Gen 2; Silver (reason: nostalgia) (2) Gen 3 remake Alpha Sapphire (3) Gen 1 original Yellow (4) Gen 3 original Sapphire (5) Gen 2 Crystal (6) Gen 7 Sun (7) Gen 5 Black 2 (8) Gen 6 X (9) Gen 1 remake FireRed (10) Gen 2 remake SoulSilver (11) Gen 5 Black (12) Gen 4 Pearl (13) Gen 3 Emerald NEVER PLAYED: Red, Blue, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, Platinum, White, White 2, Y, Omega Ruby, Moon, Ultra Moon, Ultra Sun
EXPLANATIONS AND ANALYSIS UNDER THE CUT
If not for nostalgia, Silver would probably fall down to number 3, and Alpha Sapphire and original Yellow would be pushed up to 1 and 2.
Also, this is actually reordered a bit from the version I sent to @pocket-pickett and @blue-maelstrom because I’ve thought about it more. Basically, I moved the FireRed and SoulSilver down further and moved up Sun, Black 2, and X and reordered those.
I never got to play Red and Blue because I didn’t have any money as a child (They came out when I was 6 years old, I didn’t get my first Gameboy until I was 8 years old, and my parents bought me Yellow version). The very first Pokemon game I bought for myself was Sapphire. So I missed the cultural milestone that was Red and Blue.
Up through Gen 3 I would get one version and my sister would get the other so we could trade Pokemon and find out the differences in story...so, while she also got Yellow as her first game, she got Gold and Ruby while I got Silver and Sapphire. I also got Crystal and Emerald because I was more into Pokemon than she was. FireRed came out and even though my sister didn’t want to play anymore, I definitely wanted the chance to play through the original game with the choice of the original starters, so it didn’t matter to me that she wasn’t playing with me (though I think at that point none of my friends were playing either...I didn’t know anybody who had LeafGreen, at least).
By the time Gen 4 came out, I was definitely the only one I knew who was still playing Pokemon and I was definitely buying the games for myself. Interestingly, this was also the only time I went against my gut (which told me to buy Diamond) and I bought Pearl. This was my least favorite generation. I honestly don’t remember anything about the plot at all, nor any of the gym leaders, your rival, or any other characters. I didn’t like the new evolutions for previous Pokemon that didn't evolve (like Tangela to Tangrowth, Nosepass to Probopass, Misdreaveous to Mismagius, Sneasel to Weaville...etc) or making baby-regular to baby-regular-third (like Elekid-Electabuzz to Electrovere, Magby-Magmar to Magmortar, and Magnemite-Magneton to Magnezone...etc) which is kinda weird because I like the new  Alolan and Galarian forms because I think region divergent evolutions is incredibly cool...though I kinda don't like new Galarian evolutions to older lines (like Farfetch’d to Sirfetch’d or Zigzagoon-Linoone to Obstagoon?) I guess that falls into what I thought about before. The only thing I remember liking is Lucario, and that’s mostly because I honestly enjoyed the Pokemon movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
Point is, if I had no one to play with I didn’t see the point in purchasing Diamond (which would be basically the same as Pearl except with exclusive Pokemon) or Platinum (because I didn’t like the game too much.) ...I guess I was also in my genwunner phase really hard at that point...so I’m not sure I would have liked any new Pokemon game...though I guess my genwunner phase also included gens 2 and at least part of 3, though I remember being dismissive towards at least some of gen 3. Either way, I didn’t like Gen 4, and I don’t to this day. I’m actually looking forward to the remakes whenever those come out so I can revisit the plot and the Pokemon with fresh eyes, now that I’m no longer a genwunner and don’t care whether or not I have friends who play.
SoulSilver came out on Pi Day my senior year in high school and by then, Pokemon was cool again (I was considered a Pokemon Master by the other kids in my grade, even though I had friends who were far better players than I. I was just well known for my continued love of Pokemon. I had people asking me advice when they all brought their gameboy colors and Pokemon yellow games into French class.) My friends and I all went to the mall to get either SoulSilver or HeartGold (yay! I had people to trade with again!) and then we went to my friend Maggie’s house, ate a bunch of pie, watched Pokemon the abridged series for one or two episodes, and played the original Pokemon monopoly before going back to our own houses to begin playing our new games. It’s one of my best memories of high school. SoulSilver was a nice trip down memory lane, and I loved it a lot because it was a remake of my favorite game and for the first time since Yellow, your Pokemon could follow behind you! But honestly? If my memory serves it was nothing special.
For Gen 5 I was in college and had new friends who played Pokemon. We made our way to the Prudential Center, which still had a Gamestop when Pokemon Black and White came out. I was in casual Ash Ketchum cosplay (No binder or wig, just the hat and gloves and Ash’s shirts and jeans. My hair was in a ponytail pulled through the back of the cap. I think I might have carried my Pokedex in my pocket too. RIP to that Pokedex...I may buy another one someday because it was my favorite prop.) We all bought either Black, White, or both and went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. I remember something about one of my friend’s being another’s “dipping sauce bitch” and there is definitely a picture of it on Facebook.
With regards to the actual game, and to Black 2 when that came out, I LOVED Team Plasma, even though I can never remember they are called Team Plasma, and N...though I sort of wish that the plot was related to an actual team who felt that Pokemon fighting was wrong (like N did for most of the game) and not that sort of evil puppetry...but I did also like the plot as it was. I also remember really liking some of the stuff they did with the graphics at the time. I don’t remember anything at all about any of the gym leaders or other characters. I also don’t remember the point of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. I always think I remember less of Black/White than I do. So that was actually a generation I liked...though unless I think about what happened in it, my instinct is that it’s forgettable.
Pokemon X and Y are similar - it is a generation I definitely liked but my instinct is that it was forgettable. Yet again, I remember nothing about the gym leaders or the characters except Team Flare Red Hair Guy and Professor Friendo who totally trusted Team Flare Red Hair Guy and was like, “Haha - you joker, you’re hilarious” when Team Flare Red Hair Guy said “I’m going to destroy the entire fucking world.” I also remember going WAY TOO FAST on roller skates, being excited that you could finally customize your trainer, the fact that it was PokeFrance, and that you could give your Furfrou a haircut. I also remember the “It’s been 3000 years” thing that turned into a meme. Again, I loved this generation.
I didn’t get White, White 2 or Y for similar reasons that I never got Gold, Ruby, or Diamond - they were the Other Game, and I didn’t feel, plot-wise, the need to get essentially the same game save minor differences twice for completion’s sake.
ORAS is my absolute favorite game in the main series so far. It’s a remake of what I think is the best generation without looking through nostalgia goggles, the graphics are the best up to this point, it’s fun to revisit the whole Team Aqua - Team Magma thing that was so different from the other one-team-taking-over-the-world thing the other games had, as well as revisiting some fun features like Dive that never really came up again (I liked Dive...I don’t know if anyone else did lol). It brought back contests, which I always thought were a lot of fun, and SECRET BASES! But then...but then! The Delta Episode. The Delta Episode was STUNNING and began to bring a coherency to the entire Pokemon franchise that really hadn’t been there before. And my heart absolutely SOARED. Brilliant.
(I didn’t get Omega Ruby for, again, the same reasons as the other “Other Games”)
Then came Sun and Moon. I LOVED Sun! It had beautiful graphics, they were trying out new things (even if I didn’t think the trials really worked out gameplay wise, I was glad they tried!) The characters were amazing! I loved Hau and Lillie. Gladion was my precious emo child oh my goodness. Lusamine is amazingly crazy. Team Skull was a brilliant Team-Rocket-Wannabe made of millenials who actually just wanted a place to fit in. The designs of all the characters were incredible. I loved the idea of Alolan forms and divergent Pokemon evolution. The only thing was that there are now so many Pokemon I can’t even recognize them all. Through X and Y, even if I can’t name all the Pokemon, I can recognize them all if you show my a picture. That is...not true of all the ones in Sun and Moon. I also never really understood why they differentiated Ultra Beasts by calling them “Ultra Beasts” instead of just like...Pokemon from other dimensions? Because wasn’t, technically, Giratina also from another dimension? But that leads me to the fact that I adored that the alternate dimensions bit from the Delta Episode was further expanded on. Just <3 <3 <3.
I never played Moon (or, I suppose, Ultra Moon), again, as the “Other Game” reason...but the only reason I never played Ultra Sun was...I didn’t have the money to buy it. I’m a Real Adult now...but I’m also a Real Adult with a severe problem handling money appropriately and a mental illness that keeps me from holding down a job that allows me to actually buy little things like video games...it’s easier to justify spending money I don’t have on things like clothes or going out to eat...or even little things like a keychain because, hey, I need clothes and food, and that keychain is only $6...and a new video game is AT LEAST $60...and $60 is a lot. Basically....I’m bad at money and don’t have any to spend anyway.
That’s why I’m saving up for SwSh...I think I’ll probably get Sword because that’s what my gut is telling me. I hope that, if my sister (who is finally back into Pokemon!!!) gets one, she’ll get Shield. Though if she really wants Sword, I am probably going to get Shield just so we have opposite games again. Unlike Pearl and Diamond, where my gut told me to get Diamond but I got Pearl...my gut feeling for Sword versus Shield isn’t as strong as that. It’s a preference, not a deep sort of...something.
In every other generation, I had my head and my gut, which were usually aligned, telling me which version to get. (Aligned: Silver, Sapphire, FireRed, SoulSilver, Black, Black 2, X, Omega Sapphire. Unaligned: Diamond (gut) vs Pearl (head); Sun (gut) vs Moon (head). Pearl purchased, head over gut, Game disliked. Sun purchased, gut over head, Game liked.) I dunno if it means anything, but it’s been a pattern. For SwSh, my head and guy are aligned again, but they’re saying “I’d prefer Sword, but Shield is good too.” So I don’t know how to take that.
At the end of the day, and the end of this long analysis of the machinations of my mind with regards to Pokemon, I only have two things to say: (1) Pokemon is good and I love it and (2) I really want a Pokemon Coliseum/XD: Gale of Darkness reboot.

FIRSTLY good luck at Concert b(owo secondly whats your favorite pokemon story arc..... like just generally or a certain characters arc.... (excluding n bc thats too easy)
god this was so tough because a lot of moments in pokemon have Touched  me beyond BELIEF
for character arcs... it’s a tie between cheren and oras wally for me. cheren’s attitude towards the beginning of the og black and white was really grating to me once i first played through, but he super quickly started to grow on me after i kept destroying his team and he’d make a dumb comment about not being able to win.since i played b&w2 before i played b&w, little laci was interested in seeing how incel cheren turned into chad gym leader cheren, so the realization that his goals of being champion AREN’T the only way to be useful / show one’s strength was very powerful to me, especially when most rivals before have his exact goal (ex. green actually succeeding to become champion before being knocked down by red, as well as barry wanting to be champion but also being beaten and. letting dawn. go without insightful dialog as to why he’s not tough enough yet...? dppt aren’t exactly my favorite games).
also cheren and bianca’s character development in general alongside the protag’s is just 😩😩😩 y’know
in terms of moments in a certain game, i am a GIGANTIC hoe for hoenn (pun absolutely intended) and oras did a fantastic job of integrating magma and aqua’s ambitions and rivalry as opposing gangs. i think it’s better than emerald’s portrayal even, but that’s just my #thots
a runner up that’s less story driven and more of a Moment is when silver’s golbat finally evolves because silver learns the value of treating his pokemon as Friends and Loving them and such... it’s such an easy thing to miss if you don’t take the time to think about your opponent’s pokemon and the implications behind them (like the fact that archie and maxie BOTH have crobats to prove that they’re not inherently awful and nefarious people UGHHHH I LOVE HOENN)

Pokemon ORAS fic: The Oncoming Storm Chapter 1
Also posted on: Ao3 and FF.net
First (This!)|Last
EDIT: I made some changes to this fic, thank you to @chipsncookies for noticing my errors. It’s kinda minor but it is important to the story!
So here’s a fic that I’ve been working on since last year. I’ve just been busy at work and generally lazy and busy working on other stories. But since I realized I almost finished all of these, I decided to post them finally.
This story is born from the big question bogging down my head as to how could Maxie have ended up at the Seafloor Cavern to face Archie, when it was heavily guarded when us as the player had to go through so much of those grunts.
This fic is also full of my headcanons about Archie’s past.
This is probably the only Pokemon fic I’ll ever write though so yeah.
So here we go! I hope you all enjoy and please leave a like or comment if you can.
Have a nice day!
Just in case: italics are flashbacks.
Chapter 1: Tsunamigenesis
“I…. Uhh…. umm… Well… I wish you and I would be best friends forever!”
This is something I will regret one day… Ugh I can't believe I'm doing this!!!
But at this point I don't really have a choice now do I? Now that I'm surrounded by these Magma Grunts. Some even had their Pokemon out already!
What should I do now? I can't battle them all...
But I can’t just give up now! I have to do this for Archie. For the team! For the world…
But that wish...
“Oh? What’s this?!” I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me. Of course he’d be here, what else did I expect? “Ahyaya! What brings you here, Shelly?”
I didn’t reply, nor did I face him. I don't know why…
I guess, even how many years it has been….
“Ahyaya! That silent treatment of yours will not be effective, Shelly!” Man, his laugh can get annoying, “I, Tabitha, one of the great admins of Team Magma, will show you how to give respect, when entering an enemy base!”
“Ugh, to think you could even be more egoistic than before…” I finally spoke when turned around to face him, “It’s pitiful, Tabitha.”
Tabitha smirked at me. The nerve! “Oh? Pitiful is it? Is it any better than running up here in our base? At our common room no less! Ahyaya!” I grit my teeth, I can't admit to him that he has a point.
“Target. Acquired.” And lo and behold the other admin finally speaks, “Illogical action detected.”
“The same manner of speaking as always huh? Courtney?” I said it out loud to her.
“... You. Do not know… Anything…” She replied as she glared at me.
“Ahyaya!” Tabitha continued, “Let’s just get back to the matter at hand, shall we?” He walked closer towards me as I remained in my spot. “Answer me, Shelly. Why are you here?”
I paused for a bit, I can’t let him get to me. I have to remember what I came here for….
“Come on Shelly! Hurry up!”
“Wait! You don't need to hurry for this you know!”
“But, we can have more fun if we came there sooner!”
For what’s important…
“I need to talk to Maxie.” I replied firmly. “And I mean now.”
“Hey!” Is this grunt trying to berate me? “How dare you refer to our great leader like that?” Oh God, do they really call him that?
“Access. Denied.” Courtney surprisingly spoke first. And despite her robotic style, she's definitely angry at me.
“I don’t need your permission.” What am I saying?! I’m still surrounded with no way out! “I need to speak to Maxie! It’s important!”
“And what makes you think we’ll let you?” This is getting nowhere! “Ahyaya! If you are planning to defect to our team, then you are vehemently denied!”
I don’t need to turn around to know that the grunts are coming closer to me. If I don't think of anything soon…
“Oh! I know what I’ll wish for!!”
“Really, Archie? You do?”
“Don't doubt me!”
…. “It’s about Archie and Kyogre....”
“Ahyaya! Are you here to gloat to us about your victory of the Blue Orb?” Yes, I am here to brag while being surrounded by the enemy team. “Unfortunately for you, that won’t be necessary!”
“Illogical action detected.”
“Argh! I don’t have much time here!” I snapped at them both, “No! I am not here to brag about that...”
“We’re so close Shelly. We’re so close, I could just taste it!! Those Magma scum won't know what's coming to them!”
Why… Why would it had come to this?
“Look… Archie will find out I’ve gone missing and…” I shook my head...
Archie, I can’t let you do this. For your sake…
“It’s only a matter of time, until he uses the Blue Orb, and then… then…” Then… That dream…
“I’ll wish… I wish for all the candy and snacks in the world!”
“You moron! Don’t waste a perfectly good wish on something so stupid!”
“Oww… You don't need to hit me with that heavy book…”
Our wish…
“Then the whole world will be destroyed!”
“Well… What do you wish for then?”
It became quiet here…
Yeah I guess that's to be expected. It’s not like anyone could take a possible destruction of the world that lightly after all…
Even I’m still trying to take it all in…
“Are… Are you sure?” Did Courtney just spoke an entire sentence?
“Yes.” I don’t really have much time to understand her train of thought this time, “If Archie isn’t stopped. Then, every living thing on this earth will be underwater!”
“Really? That’s a stupid wish! Wait! Wait! Don't hit me with that book again! I'm sorry!!”
“Show me some evidence.” Typical Tabitha… always the analytical one, always covering every possibility, “Show me solid proof, that this isn’t some complicated trap!”
…. Yeah this does look like some trap huh?...
“Archie, would you listen to me for just a second! We can't just ignore this! We've got to make sure that we looked at every possibility before we go through this plan!”
“Yer late there, Shelly. I've looked into that already and ran through everything with the scientists again!”
“And?”
“And!? C’mon Shelly I've told ya already that them results are wrong!”
“What?! Are you sure? But that doesn't make any sense…”
“That report’s the one that don't make a lick of sense, Shelly!”
“... But…”
But… I guess… I don't have a choice anymore don't I?
I pulled out my Pokeballs and my bag and laid down on the floor.
“There…” I said as I saw everyone took a step behind, “That's all of my Pokemon and my bag has my communicator and PokeNav in it.”
“Shelly…”
“This isn't a trap I can assure you! I'm not here to fight or to provoke anyone!” I continued, “I just need to speak to Maxie right now! Please!”
Before it's too late…
“Matt, you have to at least understand what I'm telling you right?!”
“Wahaha! Come now sis! If Bro says it's wrong! Then it's gotta be! I mean he even went through all the possible scenarios including that right? Then there's no doubt that's wrong!”
“Matt…”
“Sis, we gotta believe in Bro and his dream! It's our dream too right?”
“Fine!” Tabitha whined. Thank God… “Fine. Fine! FineFinefinefine… Fine!! I'll take you see Leader! But I'm coming with you!”
“Tabitha!” Courtney berated but he quickly dismissed it.
“Courtney, she's defenseless! Which means she's risking herself and even her own Pokemon to come here!” He countered as he picked up my stuff. “Come with me then, if you're still that suspicious!”
She fell silent as Tabitha turned to the grunts. “And all of you, keep watch! Make sure she doesn't have any one following her!”
Everyone saluted to him, which I think is still so ridiculous, but I held my tongue. I finally got my chance. I'm not about to screw it up!
I finally arrived at Maxie's office, and I must say, it's been kept quite tidy and neat up here. But then again, that's how he's always been…
I turned to see Maxie sitting at this huge one person couch typing away at his laptop. Did he noticed us arriving?
“So…” and he did. “I received word of an intruder and surveillance showed it was you.” He kept typing and typing away, “Honestly, I thought you ruffians had become more organized, but it seems I was wrong. All of you are just as uncouth and rowdy as ever.”
Grr… I really wish I could tell him off. But I can't!
“Maxie…” I held my tongue again, “I… You have to listen to me…”
The typing stopped.
But he still hasn't turned to face me! The little-- “Archie… Before he wakes up Kyogre….” Calm down, I have to remember what's important, “Please… I’m asking you to stop him!”
“How… Dare You!” Courtney sneered at me, that's to be expected. “Request! Denied!”
“Courtney has a point, Shelly!” Tabitha would feel the same way, “You can't just beg for our Leader to stop your own!
“Now… Now…” Maxie? How are you so calm? “Don't berate the poor woman…” Are you… “After all, it is not every day we get to be a part of the Team Aqua Admin’s coup after all!”
“Y-You….” He just had to face me saying that. He, really, just had to! “You got it all wrong! I’m doing this to save Archie, Team Aqua, and the world as we know it!!”
“Oh, is that so?” Now I remember why, I didn’t like this smug bastard that much! “Then would you care to elaborate to The Great Maxie, as to why you would come to my presence, to give such a ludicrous request, to save your Team?”
“Fine!” I really wish I could punch him right now. “Courtney, in my bag that Tabitha has. There’s a big manila envelope in there. Can you give it to Maxie?”
At that moment, I could feel the intensity of her glare, as she kept silent.
“Do not fret, Courtney.” Now I don’t know if he’s just being smarmy about this, “Just hand it over to me.”
“Yes Leader Maxie” Is this a good thing or not?
Ever to this day, I'm still shaken from what I discovered. So much so, that I wasn't able to speak properly for days after that. I wasn't able to make sure of those results. After all, I had a duty… But, the fact that these existed…
Was everything that we fought for worth nothing?
“Shelly. Shelly!” Was Maxie just calling me, no it was Tabitha, “Are you listening to me? Leader Maxie was just calling you!”
“What is it?” I unknowingly raised my voice, why did I remember that moment?
I didn't notice that Maxie already stood from his seat and already stood in front of me
“Hmph, for such a proper woman, you have become just as boorish as your grunts. Unfortunate…” Shut up Maxie! “But to the matters at hand…” he looked down at those papers again… “Are these true?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“I'm asking you if they are accurate, woman!” Maxie… “What you have pleaded to me is such a ludicrous request. DO you expect me to blindly agree on your terms without even a proper explanation!”
“Why do you think I'm here then, Maxie?!” I had just about enough of him, “Why do you think I'm risking everything just to come here huh?!”
“And so?... Are these reports true?” Why are you--??
“To tell you the truth.” Fine have it your way! “I don't know.”
“... Hmph…” he looked down on it again, what's he planning? “Shelly. You are not telling me everything.” M-Maxie… for some reason I can feel a shiver down my spine... “You have told me that you came here for a good reason. “I don't know” does not count. TELL ME!!”
Yikes! Getting him angry is not part of my plan!
“Look! What those papers are saying is that will happen according to a simulation! I've tried to confirm its truth but I couldn't---”
“Well, I've heard enough…” Wh-what? “I have heard enough from you. Leave!”
“Wait Maxie! Let me explain!!” I can't leave now! Now that I'm so close!! “This is a very serious issue, Maxie! You don't understand----”
“I do!” He rebutted, “Courtney! Please escort this ruffian out of my sight!”
“Yes Leader Maxie, sir!” I turned to see Courtney looking too happy that I can be tossed out.
“No! Please!!” I can't leave! I have no other choice! “Give me a chance!”
“Why should I?!” He demanded, I guess he has a point, “I asked for proof and you did not give me any! Why should I believe anyone from Team Aqua, especially from his own Admins, anything they would say!”
He's right…
But… “I may not have definite proof that these could happen, but the chance is still there!” I began explaining. “These results are also based on historical accounts and archaeological findings! What I'm afraid of is history repeating itself!”
I panted, I spoke my mind to Maxie hoping it would get through to him.
But it looks like I didn't, considering Maxie remained his calm expression… or is it still the same anger he displayed earlier? I can't really tell at times…
“Leader Maxie…” Tabitha? What is it now? “If I may? Mind if I ask what you have read there?”
Tabitha…
“Curious are we?” Maxie smirked, but now I can tell he's nearing his peak in his rage. “But of course with the commotion she has stirred, you and Courtney would have grown curious of the contents of these papers. Very well. I shall tell you what it says.”
I lowered my head as Maxie began telling everything. I… I can't bear.. to face them…
“Hey Jirachi! Now I know what I want to wish for!!’
“You do? It better not be something stupid like that candy!”
“Nah, it's the best wish ever! Jirachi! I wish…”
I turned to see Courtney. Her ever stoic face dropped and I saw her shocked beyond her belief. If that's the case, Tabitha would be…
Yeah he would be the same thing…
“Is this all correct, Shelly?” To think the “robot” Courtney, would speak first.
“Like I said before, I'm not sure.” I replied, “But from what it says, this will most likely that will happen. And if history will repeat itself then… then…”
“The world will drown. And all of us with it.” Maxie… how could you be so calm… no… you're shaking… you're putting up a front that you're not affected by it… even when it's just the four of us here.
“Yes.” I replied as calmly as I could...
“I wish…”
“This… this is not what we wished for! What we dreamt for!” I finally spoke up. Wondering why did we? “I… can't let Archie do this! He needs to be stopped!”
“Then why not simply ask your co Admin, Matt?” Maxie rebutted, why would he just--? “Or even that child, surely after defeating you and Archie, she would be much capable of stopping him.” You may have a point… but are you actually doubting himself? “Why turn to me?”
“Because…” Because… if history will repeat itself… “Matt is too loyal to Archie. He won’t listen to any reason but his. And as for that kid? Believe me, I’ve considered that already. But do you think he’d listen to her, if he didn’t even listen to me?”
“She… She’s right Leader…” Tabitha, thank you…
“That’s why, I have no choice but to beg to you for help!” I repeated, almost ready to kneel on the floor, “I know it's been so long since then. But…”
But…
“The only other person that Archie could listen to… is you Maxie.”
“Shelly!! Shelly! Do you know that I have a brother now? He’s a big bro too!”
Maxie’s gotten quiet. I wonder what's he thinking?
“Remember the nice old lady that saved me and Carvanha a while back! Well she took me in and she took in another boy, just like me, before! So now we’re brothers!”
“Maxie, Please…” I began again, “It’s only a matter of time until he goes to the Seafloor Cavern to use the Blue Orb to wake up Kyogre! But what he wants and what will happen are two completely different things! And just he can't see that!! If he won’t be stopped, then the world will truly return back to its Primal state!”
Silence… Maxie??
“His name is Maxie! Gave him that name! I mean it's much more fun that Maximillian right? Hehe!”
“Hmph, quite admirable of you...” Huh? What are you saying now? You were nervous before and now… “You are willing to sacrifice your own position and your team even, to rescue that reckless fool that you call a Leader.”
“I don’t know what you’re going with this, Maxie…”
“Hehe… You do realize, Shelly, that there is a possibility of you getting caught yes?” Yeah and so?! “Well, the mere fact that you are standing right here in front of me, already counts as treason. I am sure the Captain does not take lightly to traitors.”
“But I can't just sit idly by and do nothing!” I shot back, I have to keep pleading, but I don’t know if this will help anymore! “I may be his Admin, and his close friend. But I care for Archie more than just his ambitions! If I do nothing, then… then…”
“It may not be much. But I have a proper family now! Isn’t it great!”
“Then it is as if you’ve pushed him further into his own demise…” Why the heck are you laughing about, this is no laughing matter!! “Hah! Stuck in a conundrum now aren’t you? You either do nothing and continue to the path of destruction. Or try to save him and your team, and be branded as a traitor.”
“That answer should be obvious, Maxie…” I replied sternly, unwavering in my convictions
“It may look like it is.” He continued, I don’t know how long I could take more of this… “But let us see… Do nothing, not only will it lead to the apocalypse, Archie himself would be completely crushed to see his ideals gone to naught. But “betray” him, you may be able to save him, the team, and the world along with it. But then you realize, that either way, Archie’s ideal was doomed from the start, and after, you would all be seen as criminals. It is a lose-lose situation.”
“You keep telling yourself that with your nose up in the air, Maxie” I’ve already made my decision and considered everything, “But remember, it won’t be just Team Aqua that will lose. Team Magma will fall with us too.”
He quickly shot a glare at me. I know I’m right…
“And you’ve already known that haven’t you?” I taunted a little, “You really are as clever as they told you’d be.”
Judging by his reaction, I can tell I was right on the money.
“You witch…” There we go, “You have already laid us into a trap from the very beginning. Haven’t you?”
“No.” I responded firmly, knowing he’d react like that “This is not a trap. This is the truth that could happen, if we don’t stop Archie!”
“... How troublesome…” I hear Maxie mumble to himself, but then he faced me again “This situation would turn for the worst, either way. Would you be prepared for anything?”
“Shell, thank you… I… I couldn't have gotten this far, without you. You’re the most reliable friend I’ve ever had. I don’t think any of these would have succeeded, if it wasn't for you.. So thank you so much!”
“He’s so close, Maxie” I began “He’s so close that he won't stop at anything!”
“Archie saw it Shelly… Everything… The horror that he witnessed that day… If for nothing else, that is what is driving him to go alone. Driving him to take the extremes….”
“And yet you still want us to try? You are being paradoxal”
“I can’t just leave him be! This is not just about the team or the world anymore! As his friend, I have to do something! Anything! I don’t care what will happen to me! All I care for now is stopping Archie before he goes too far!”
“I wish to make a better world for Pokemon!!”
“Hmph, it seems even after many years has passed, your feelings for him has not changed a bit…” he chuckled. Did I hear him say that?
“Huh? What are you saying?”
“Ha! It’s nothing!” Now I’m curious…. “I must congratulate you on your efforts, Shelly.” Huh? “It is not everyday nor anyone could ever come close to convincing the Great Maxie to go along with your outrageous plan.”
You keep telling yourself that...
“Yeah… Thanks..” I replied, trying my damnedest to not sound sarcastic. Like I needed a backhanded compliment from you. “You need a better understanding of the situation right?”
“Anyone with some sense in their brain would need one.” Even then you still sound so snotty “I have to know what I am going to go into.”
I growled a little as I began my explanation, “Tomorrow’s the grand unveiling of the Submarine Explorer 2 at Slateport City.”
“Yes, that has been talk for many.”
“Archie’s gonna steal that and modify it with a drill so we could open a hole through the Seafloor Cavern!” I continued but he keeps on interrupting me!
“Preposterous!” He shot back,“That Cavern is sealed tight by Rayquaza’s power. Any man made machinery or Pokemon wouldn't even be able to make a dent on it, let alone something as flimsy as a drill.”
“Yeah… that's right.” I gritted my teeth and continued on, “Remember all those years ago, when you two first met again at Rustboro at Devon’s Head Office?”
“Yes… where are you getting at….?” Maxie  looked intrigued, then his eyes widened, then his eyes widened, the realization must have hit him, “No… don't tell me…”
“You two were after the same technology. The infinity energy.”
“According to Devon” Tabitha added, looks like he’s shaken up. “it is the same kind of power that King AZ used to power his ultimate weapon over a millennia ago.”
“That's right…”
Maxie fell silent… He looks more shaken than Tabitha.
“Leader Maxie? What's wrong?” Courtney really does care for him huh?
“.............. I…. I can't believe it…” Huh?
“What?” I asked him, what is he thinking of this time?
“To think…. To think Archie and I… almost to the exact detail…” he said this as he leaned back to the chair.
“What do you mean?!”
“Stealing the information about the energy, then those parts, then if that failed, resorting to the submarine itself, then to modify it with a special drill, using the energy to cave in the Seafloor Cavern Entrance…….” Maxie… Are you? “... Archie… what were we thinking?!”
It didn’t take me long to realize what he was talking about, “Are you telling me, you and Archie….!”
He raised his hand to interrupt me, “I am not finished...”
“Maxie…”
“Shelly.” He began, I could hear the tremble in his voice as he combed his hair with his free hand. “Please correct me if I am wrong… But… As soon as he stole the submarine, he would have had the drill all ready to be attached to the front yes?”
“Wha--?” How did he know that?!! “H-how…?!”
“Then, he would even, just for the fun of it, paint it to look like a Sharpedo, yes?”
“How did you---?!” I managed to speak from this shock…
“Then he would bring out most of the grunts and one of your admins, you, with him to the Cavern. He would leave behind a a few grunts and, Matt for security. Just in case a certain… girl, would stop by to face all of you…”
I froze… I couldn’t say anything anymore… I just… I just can’t believe it...
“Upon arrival at the Cavern, at the Cavern he would command everyone including you to guard the place as soon as he arrives there. And he places you at the very last line of defense, expecting the child to come to face him one last time.”
He’s right...
“And despite all protests, he would use the Orb to Awaken Kyogre….” I could hear him gulp at the end.
“To unleash its full power…” We finished the sentence.
There was a heavy silence in the air. “Are you telling me…” I broke it. I just have to make sure... “You and Archie…. Both of you…?”
“We thought of the exact, same plan…” Maxie slammed his fist into the wall, I could hear the wall crack from the impact... “Right down to the damn detail!!!”
“Hehe, that’s why… That's why he and I are the perfect team! The invincible duo! Archie and Maxie! No one can stand a chance against us!”
“... Then…” I shake my head, then spoke up, “Then that's exactly why, You should stop him!”
“You don't need to tell me that anymore, woman!” Maxie… You sound more shaken than before now, “If this simulation is correct, then we must not waste any more time…!”
“I’m well aware. I helped him make that plan!” I grit my teeth. Archie...
“If that is the case… you want me to disguise myself don't you?” He catches on pretty fast, as expected.
“Yes. I have a spare grunt uniform for you.” I continued my explanation, “I also have a map of the whole base as well. Archie will come back there first after taking the submarine. Then he’ll start grouping people to those who want to stay or who wants to guard the base. Make sure to join them. But for nothing else, you can hide at the submarine. He asked me to design it for the modifications, so I'll be handling the reconstruction. I’ve memorized the blueprints, inside and out.” This is a both a blessing and a curse isn't it? “Once we arrive at the Cavern, I can sneak you in past the security. Being an admin, I can just let them believe me.” I tapped my ear in gesture of the next stage, “I have some extra communicators with me. I managed to have a frequency that you and I can talk to only.”
Silence again… “Very well…” Finally… “It seems either way, I would have had no choice.”
“Thank you! Thank you so much, Maxie!” I felt a great weight lifted off me. I couldn’t help myself to tear up in gratitude.
“Don’t shed your tears, Shelly. Now is not the time.” He interrupted again.
“Huh?” What does he mean by that?
“Go back already to your base and prepare yourself!” He barked. It seems he finally gets the gist of the situation. “ We’ll meet at the Slateport Market an hour before the Submarine will be stolen.”
“And you already know the day?”
“Date and Time. Right to the exact second. Archie may look like an idiotic fool, but he knows how to plan. I’ve taught him how to. Remember?”
“....Then I guess you already know the rest of what I wanted to say…”
“Correct, in the midst of the confusion, I will fly towards the base, sneak my way in as one of your grunts and meet up with you at your port.” I really have to give Maxie credit where it's due.
“At that point the submarine would have arrived at our base and I would arrive after distracting the kid.” I finished.
“As soon as the submarine arrives, I’ll help you with the construction and sneak in while everyone is distracted.” Whew… he really is right on the mark of this one. It's almost amazing, “Shelly…”
“What?” I turned, what else is there to cover?
“There is way too many flaws in this plan.” Huh? What?! “In fact, one terrible slip up would cost us the whole operation.” I couldn't reply back. I don't know what to answer him... “You wouldn’t be able to stop Archie when that happens. Do you understand this?”
“Yes.” But then, I can't let that stop me. I won't back down. “Like I said, I have no choice. In the end, whether is you or I, or even that kid, Archie must be stopped before he even approaches Kyogre.”
“Then that’s where you’re wrong.”
“What?!”
“As we arrive at the Cavern and you help me sneak in, I will confront Archie right there and now. Right in front of Kyogre.”
“Are you crazy?!” You literally contradicted yourself!! “If you do that, then either way, Archie would revive Kyogre, no matter what!”
“Then I will stop him myself!” Maxie shot back “You came here to beg me to stop him. And that is exactly what I will do! You, of all people should know Archie will stop at nothing. That includes you!” He adjusted his glasses and took a step back, “In odd twist of fate, it seems we will be facing for the first time in years, in front of the Super Ancient Pokemon. And I will make it the last.”
“What do you mean?” Maxie...
“Shelly, go!” He turned to me, “You’re wasting enough time as it is! I will have you escorted secretly out of here and you rush back to your base, before Archie finds out!”
“Maxie…” Heh, I get it now… “You… really cared for him, even after all this time.”
He didn't respond, and that's all the answer I need.
I managed to head back to the base without any problems. Good thing a little, “getting some fresh air at the beach”, story was enough to convince everyone.
I hope so… at least.
It was crazy that Maxie made very accurate guesses to our plan. Right at the exact time, just an hour before the submarine was planned to be stolen. I met him at the Market just as planned. We used the hustle and bustle of the market to hide ourselves and managed to communicate what else is there to do and I handed him the spare uniform and other equipment he needed.
And without anything else, the rest of the plan went smoothly, without anyone noticing.
That is until we arrived at the Cavern...
“Maxie! This is Shelly!” I said as I spoke the secret code. “Are you in there now? Do you see Archie?”
There was a slight static but he finally spoke in a hushed tone, “Yes. I can see him perfectly.”
“Good! Now you----”
“Shelly…”
“Huh?”
“You are still going to try to break this peacefully aren't you?” His voice wasn't as hushed as before…
“What?”
“I’m sorry but… I must break that plan of yours…” Break? What is he saying?! “Don't come after me! I'm going to finish this. Once and for all!”
“Wait! Maxie! Wa----” The rest was just the static noise.
“Maxie!!” I tried to reconfigure my comm, but still he didn't respond. I was only met with more static.
Maxie… What are you going to do?
“--- Big Sis Shelly!” Huh? What? “Big Sis are you there?”
It's one of the grunts, “Yes… I'm here. What is it?” I tried to cover myself for now, hoping he didn't sense what I'm feeling.
“I'm so sorry Admin Shelly! But…”
“But what? Spill it!”
“It's that kid again!” What?! She's here?! Already?! “That kid basically got through all of us. And she's heading right through ya”
“No way…” No way… It's like… like…

2, 5, 7, 8, 15, 21, 22, 37, 40, and 42 for hardenshipping pls?
2. Who’s the one to send the other “Ilove my gf/bf” memes
Maxie wouldnever do this, and wouldn’t find memes particularly funny either.  If one of them were going to send “I love mybf” memes to the other, it would have to be Archie.  Even then, he’s not that on top of currentsocial media trends and jokes, so the only way he would really see memes wouldbe if one of the grunts showed them to him. So he doesn’t generally send them to Maxie, and if he did, itwould be more to tease him since he knows Maxie wouldn’t appreciate it.
5. How many years did it take to getmarried or was it just not for them
If you countfrom the time they first starting dating when they were in Team Rockettogether, then it takes roughly 20 years for them to get married.  From the time they reconcile after the eventsof ORAS, they’re married less than a year after they’re back together.  They honestly would have been fine nevergetting married, but once they decide to try for a child, they decide to getmarried for legal reasons.  They don’thave a wedding ceremony and just get a marriage license issued through a court.
7. Are their friends/family supportive
Theirfriends/teams are mostly supportive, although they’re initially weirded out byit on both sides for varying reasons (although most aren’t that surprised whenthey really start to think about it). The Team Aqua members are slightly more supportive since they just wantArchie to be happy, but most do wonder why he would choose Maxie of allpeople.  Surely there’s someone he’sinterested in with a more agreeable personality.  Most assume their shared history is the maindraw, since the grunts are aware of the fact they were together in somesort of capacity back when they were in Team Rocket together.
As for TeamMagma, they’re even more surprised than the Team Aqua members, since theassumption is that Maxie isn’t interested in being involved with anybody ingeneral.  More than a few grunts wonderif the rivalry between their two teams was actually some sort of long running lover’sfeud, but have enough sense to not voice this in front of Maxie.  In that sense, they’re more wary about theidea of them getting together, since they’ve already proven a breakup between thetwo of them has the potential to get ugly. In an effort to avoid Maxie’s wrath, no one is actually unsupportivethough, and as time goes on, everyone is relieved to see that the two dobalance each other out, even if they’re still prone to arguing.
As for theirfamilies, Archie is the only one that still has some contact with his family, specifically his mother.  She’s aware ofall of the shared history between the two, so she’s understanding of theirrelationship and is supportive, although like most, she’s concerned whetherthey’re relationship will end badly like it did last time.  Since she’s been around since the beginningthough, she’s not as worried as most since she figures if the two still havefeelings for each other after 20 years, they can make a relationship work ifthey really try for it.
As forMaxie, he cut all ties with his family around the same time he joined TeamRocket.  He comes from a wealthy familywho has very conservative views on what the role of an omega should be.  To escape that, he ended up leaving home theday he was of age and never looked back. If they were to somehow find out about his and Archie’s relationship, they would approve of the fact Maxie was finally settling down with an alpha tohave a child, but wouldn’t think that much of Archie in particular, thinkingMaxie should have found someone of higher social standing.  Archie being a self-made man who managed tobuild his own organization would be a point in his favor, but the fact he wasborn to a ‘lower class’ single mother would overshadow a lot of that.
8. How does one comfort the other when theother is in distress/having a panic attack/crying
It’s rarefor either of them to get upset to the point where they’d cry or have a panicattack, as both are good at repressing those sorts of emotions.  From both their time in Team Rocket and thenas the leaders of their respective organizations, they couldn’t afford to showweakness, so even around each other, they still don’t completely let thatdrop.  It’s too ingrained at this pointto always seem strong and collected.  That being said, Archie is the more transparent of the two and also theone who’s more honest about what he’s feeling, but when Maxie breaks, he breakshard.
Talkingabout whatever the issue is can go either way since they’re prone to arguing, sothey’ll generally physically reassure the other first (whether this be throughsimple holding the other all the way up to sex varies), and once the other hascalmed down, then they’ll talk about whatever is bothering the other.   Both tend towards being pragmatic, soactually solving whatever is causing the other’s distress is viewed by each asthe best approach.
15. Have they saved each other’s livesbefore
Probably, almost certainly a few of those times being when they were in TeamRocket together.  What initially sparkedtheir relationship was how well they were able to work together in stressfulsituations on the fly.  While they hadseen each other around headquarters and Archie had tried to engage Maxie in conversationa few times (which resulted in Maxie brushing him off), it’s not until theyboth get into a dangerous situation on a mission together and are able to getout of it through quick-thinking as a team that they actually start to interactmore (or rather, Maxie deems Archie worthy of engaging with).  There are likely other situations they’ve beenin together where failure could have resulted in death, and it’s throughworking together that they’re able to keep each other alive.
21. What is their song? Like the song thatgives them overwhelming feelings?
I honestlycan’t see either of them having a specific song that’s “their song.”
22. What song do they listen to while goingon a joyride
Like most oftheir interests, they have completely varying tastes in music, so the mostcommon compromise is to either listen to nothing or turn whatever they do endup listening to down low.  They don’t generallygo on joyrides, so this would be an issue that rarely comes up.  The most likely time period they would have goneon random joyrides would be when they were first dating in their 20s, andduring that time, they’d be more likely to actually alternate who got to choosethe music.  This then turned into howlong the non-chooser could tolerate the music choice before demanding they puton something else.
37. Do they get into fights often? If sowhat do they fight over and how do they make up?
Theydo.  A lot.  Anything and everything is fair game to fightover, although it’s most often their differing viewpoints on how to approach anissue that gets them into arguments.  Tosome extent, bickering is second nature, and each has gotten better at nottaking what the other says personally, so it doesn’t often escalate into a fullblown fight.  When it does though, they’ve found it’s better if they each separate for a while to cool off, andthen re-discuss whatever the issue was once they’ve each had time to calmdown.  Part of what tore theirrelationship apart the first time was their inability to see the other’sviewpoint, so this time, they make a promise that even if they don’t seeeye-to-eye on an issue, they’ll always listen to and respect the other’sopinion.  It’s hard sometimes, butultimately a difference of opinions isn’t worth the loss of theirrelationship.  They’ve already learnedthis the hard way.
40. Who would fight in honor for the otherif someone would insult them
Both of themwould in varying circumstances.  It cango either way if they’ll fight someone if the person is simply insulting theother, since they both are forced to accept a certain amount of criticism dueto their past actions in Team Aqua and Team Magma.  Some criticism is fine, particularly if it’strue, as they’re both trying to rebuild their image in order for Team Terra toget backing.   They’d certainly want tofight the person, but they have to choose their battles in order to not damagetheir reputation further.  If the insultsstart to get particularly vicious or untrue, then it’s more likely they’llchallenge the person to a Pokemon battle to prove them wrong, but again, it’s a cost-benefit situation.  If someonewere to actually threaten the other though, then without hesitation, they’dfight for each other.   Of the two, Archie is slightly more likely to fight someone simply because he’smore impulsive than Maxie.  Maxie isbetter at repressing his feelings for the sake of the Team.
42. How would one react if the other was todie
Ultimately,as sad as each of them would be if the other were to die, they would move onand continue with their lives.  It doesdepend somewhat on when the other were to die though.  If it were to be shortly after their teamsgot back together, or especially while Dylan was young, it would be harderthen.  Not only would the survivor haveto lead the Team alone, but they would also end up as a single parent, alone inraising the child they had vowed to raise together.  In some ways though, due to having so manypeople relying on them, it would force the survivor to remain strong foreveryone else.  Having Dylan wouldprevent them from falling too far back into their old habits as well.  While Maxie would be at risk for becomingcold and harsh, he couldn’t for Dylan’s sack. In reverse, Archie would have to remain firm and resolute for Dylan, andcouldn’t fall into being impulsive and reckless.  It would be hard, but the survivor wouldultimately vow to live on in place of the other, doing the best they could toraise their child and make Team Terra the organization they had dreamed of together.

what's the dirt on sporas?? do tell
There's a lot of criticisms on sporas but I'll just tell u about maxie and archie (and how sporas poorly handled them). Before sporas, u have to understand the rse chapters first. Chapters ruby & sapphire's plot is similar to the ruby & sapphire games: maxie wants to expand the land, archie wants to expand the sea, protags have to stop them, with some creative liberties like archie being a director in a tv company (it affects the story a bit). The biggest difference however, is that archie and maxie were possesed by the orbs they used to awaken kyogre and groudon. These orbs were eventually expelled from their bodies. However, both suffered side effects: they became weak, power-obsessed, and morally corrupt (even more than before). At one point, Maxie killed Courtney, both burned Norman's corpse, and archie stomped on a poor feebas. The bosses escaped after being defeated by the protags. If u think they're evil compared to the rse bosses, get ready for emerald chapter. In emerald, there's an original story which is set after r&s chapter (instead of an au like emerald the game). The plot follows this boy, Emerald whose goal is to capture jirachi, but he got interrupted by a mysterious man in armour who also wants to capture jirachi, known as Guile Hideout. Guile did nasty things like kidnapping people, stealing rental pokemon and setting them onto innocent pokemon battle audience and press, all in order to capture jirachi. Even emerald + frontier brains couldnt stop him. It is slowly revealed later that Guile once had come into contact with the blue orb, and let its power seeped into every fibre of his being, making him obsessed with kyogre's power. He also wants to drown the whole world. Sounds familiar? That's right, he's Archie. So what actually happened? At the end, after a looot more fighting, the protags finally defeated guile/archie. Archie who looks more dead than alive at this point told us the truth: after fleeing in ruby& sapphire chapter, he and maxie was saved by a mysterious woman named Sird (how? Idek it's not revealed). She knew about their condition, about them being possessed, and warned them that their body is decaying/weakening quickly because of the possession, they will soon die. BUT she has a solution! in the form of an armour, which has the ability to slow time. The problem is there is only one armour, and as we all know, archie has it, so... we dont see outright but it's heavily implied that archie killed maxie. Archie admitted to the protags that he abandoned his crew, and he abandoned maxie, even though they went through hardships together. He said he's 'this kind of person' which suggests that he's p much accepts he's evil.'But Chips i just want to know about sporas why did u tell me all of the above' everything i told u is important to understand sporas because, guess who came back? THE SAME MAXIE AND ARCHIE. Not from an alternate universe, not different people, but the same guys who got possessed and supposedly tried to kill each other - but now they're back, in completely different appearance (maxie with the glasses and sweaters, archie with the wetsuit & new beard) and new crews (yes oras shelly, matt, tabi & courtney are there) and they all want to stop a meteor from destroying hoenn. No, there's no explanation how they came back from the dead, why maxie became a nerd, why archie became a pirate, how they build new magma & aqua (old team aqua & magma members from r&s chapter admitted that they never saw their teammates again after r&s incident nor have they heard about aqua/magma revival), why the bosses need to be revived from death to destroy the meteor, WHY THEY ARE STILL SMUG AND CONDESCENDING TOWARDS THE PROTAGS even if they now share the same goal... the list goes on. So, you get the idea.Sporas could have worked if they follow the oras games plot (alternate universe! Entirely new characters!) but no they wanted to keep everything connected and in one universe, so you get this massive... inconsistent characters, bad writing, confusing plots, side characters who don't have anything to do with the plot showing up (giovanni is in sporas but he didn't really.. do anything??) because they wanted to follow the oras games but ALSO stay within the lore they established... sporas ended up being none. 7.8/10 too much plotholes :(In conclusion, sporas is bad because it tried to do everything but ended up being nothing. If u want to read rse or sporas go ahead, tbh i'd rather u judge by yourself. If u end up liking it, good! More power to u! I didn't, so i pretend it never happened.(Sorry this is so long. I tried to contain my salt but i spilled all of it whoops.)#pokespe #sporas #oraspe #chipsays #asks

Okay, rant warning. Because I need to get this off my chest:
Can we stop being so goddamn negative about USUM every single time something is shown or revealed regarding it?
Look, I don't expect people to praise the game as if it's a masterpiece when it isn't even out. I don't even expect people to have to like it. But are we seriously going to criticize every single little thing this game does or adds as "lazy" when we've been doing this "upgraded version" thing for 20 goddamn years? Let’s do an overview, shall we?
Yellow version added a Pikachu that followed you, two exclusive Team Rocket members you could fight and a method of getting all three starters.
Crystal just added some story events with Suicune along with a single new character named Eusine, and rearranged Lugia and Ho-Oh to post-game while Suicune was the main legendary. There was also the first iteration of the Battle Tower. Oh, and animated sprites. It also had an exclusive battle theme for the legendary beasts.
Emerald added an expanded story involving both Team Aqua and Magma, added story bits with Rayquaza, changed up the Champion and one Gym Leader, added an island filled with Battle Facilities, added one forme for Deoxys and the option to choose whether to chase after Latios or Latias I guess. There were also some additional new songs added to the soundtrack to cover this new content.
Platinum added extra story elements throughout the game, some random snow in some of the early region, had some post-game, added two brand new characters--one whom has become a fan favorite and has appeared in every generation since, had another Battle Frontier, added a forme for Giratina and Shaymin, as well as five additional formes for Rotom, and had another dimension you could visit, but sadly you could only do so twice--the first being one time only and the second being extremely limited just to get the Griseous Orb. Once again, more music was added to account for some of the game’s new content.
Black 2 and White 2, while not technically third versions, followed the trend in a new way. It added several new locations, two new gym leaders, a new mode called PokéStar Studios (which is really fun by the way), added the Pokémon World Tournament facility (one of my absolute favorite additions to any Pokémon game we've ever had so far), had a whole new story with several brand new characters, gave Kyurem two new formes, gave the obligatory trio a new set of vastly improved formes, and gave Keldeo a form (but it was purely aesthetic so it wasn't that big of a deal). Not only were there new songs to account for new content, but there were even songs from the previous game remixed exclusively for these new versions.
And then Generation VI did jack. Fucking. Shit. Yeah, X and Y sure were swell and totally weren't rushed, right? And guess what? People bitched and complained when Z did not happen.
So now we're finally getting new sort of "third version" as people seemed pretty okay with it before. Some people saw it as pointless, but never really cried that it was "SO LAZY!!!!!!!" all that much with a few people here and there. These were seen as pretty harmless additions to the franchise. So apparently after one generation, where we literally got nothing and now suddenly people are calling it lazy? I'm sorry, did I miss something here?
These games are not out yet, but we know this much:
There will be new locations in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
There are currently three (technically four with M20 Hat!Pikachu, but that's about as significant as Resolute Keldeo if not less) new formes for Pokémon.
The story is going to be altered, likely along the lines of Emerald and Platinum. We haven't seen enough to see how significant the changes are, but we know that there are some similarities like with meeting Lillie and Nebby (honestly I was annoyed with all of the "LILLIE IS GOING TO BE EVIL!!!!!!!" speculation so you know what good riddance to that).
Not only will we likely get new songs to account for new content, we already have been getting new remixes of songs from Sun and Moon, much like Black 2 and White 2.
We have a new photography mode to interact with our own Pokémon.
There are new Z-Moves for certain Pokémon.
Someone spotted Mantine as a Ride Pokémon in the trailer, indicating we may have new Ride Pokémon as well.
And so far we have two brand new Pokémon/Ultra Beasts, something that Game Freak has never pulled before mid-generation. The closest thing we've had to this so far is new Mega Evolutions in ORAS.
And on top of this, there is probably a lot we still don't know about USUM yet, meaning there is more new content to come out of this.
So yeah, surprise! Game Freak has done this before. So why is it, after twenty fucking years that people are just now noticing and starting to get all critical of the whole idea? Because we skipped the trend once with XY because it was so terribly rushed that all of its clearly planned elements for a third version were shoehorned into a new generation? Is it because we got sequels one generation? Is it because people set their expectations so stupidly high that they were truly expecting a Switch Pokémon game to be coming when the console has only been out for a few months? Because Game Freak has never released a main game on a new console within a few months of its life. It's usually a year or two ahead. Hell, Red and Blue released towards the end of the Game Boy's anticipated lifetime, and it single-handedly revived it.
If you don't like USUM? Fine. If you never liked the idea of third versions? Totally okay. But do not be fucking hypocrites and kick and scream about something USUM is doing that several past games have done before multiple times, and most of them did even less than what this game is doing. Because I know for a fucking fact that if suddenly Generation VIII decides to not do a third version and neglects its obligatory third main legendary after all of this overly negative backlash, people will bitch and moan all the same.

🔥 Pokemon in general! And it can be more than one
•I have a lot probably…
Pokémon in general:•Sylveon is kinda ugly for my tastes, but I’d probably die for it because it’s a Pokémon and you never mistreat your Pokémon•Alolan Meowth and Persian are ugly (dunno if many people agree. I don’t go looking for this shit)•Bulbasaur is good•Team Galactic is the best/most evil team throughout the regions. In ORAS, team Magma/Aqua were kind of a joke but I love them nonetheless •Team Skull seems kind of like a joke in my opinion. I’m only at the ghost trial in Ultra Sun right now, but they’re pretty easy so far and they don’t really do much that’s considered evil. I think they just enjoy general harassment of people and Pokémon •I NEED SINNOH REMAKES
The Manga (PokéSpe/Adventures):•Silver in the PokéSpe manga is not tsundere •I don’t like N and his shitty father and life doesn’t excuse his actions at the beginning of Black and White. However, I have warmed up a bit to him now that he is helping out •Blue (female)/Silver is not a good ship…•I like Franticshipping and it’s probably one of my top OTPs along with Agencyshipping•I don’t like Emerald. He’s kind of annoying •Canon Silver kinda has no personality…•I don’t really like how some characters like Gold and Crystal don’t throw their pokéballs with their hands like normally. Gold uses his pool cue and Crystal just fucking kicks them. When I first read the GSC arc, I just thought it was kinda weird
•Silver has no reason to be a lil bitch•Pearl walks like fucking Waluigi and he needs to stop•Dia was given the short straw in the DP arc and canon only really portrays him as the food-loving comic relief that can be serious when seriousness is needed. However, I think Dia actually gets more "screentime" towards the climax. We see him have the balls to face Cyrus in Celestic Town, sneak into an airship, sneak into the Game Corner to get Platina's pokedex back. This kid's got balls! •Therefore, Platina and Pearl were both kinda given the short straw for character growth when compared to Dia
Thank you!

Addicted to coolrom pokemon? Us Too. 6 Reasons We Just Can't Stop
Help keep up with the balanceLike prior Pokémon games, Emerald issues you to get, trade, and fight Pokémon. Summary: Like earlier Pokémon games, Emerald problems you to collect, trade, and fight Pokémon.
A city example: Mauville has changed so very much since the original games it's barely recognisable, becoming Hoenn's version of Castelia or Lumiose. Lugia is also fairly prominent in merchandise and marketing related to the games and their linked film Pokémon: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages thanks to its popularity in Pokémon Silver and gold In ORAS, it's an "extra" Legendary Pokémon special to Alpha Sapphire and does not have any bearing on the main plot (Ho-Oh, which acts as its counterpart in Omega Ruby, didn't have the same kind of advertising and didn't come in the movie). Sequel Hook : As well as the Battle Frontier still being built by the time these games happen, it's revealed at the end of the Delta Event that Steven will be asking Wallace to dominate his role of champion after he goes to travel all over the world, which can be interpreted as a hint towards a feasible future sequel with a few changes from Emerald being put into the games.
Unlike the initial games this is averted for the Master Ball with the Team Hideout, akin to Emerald. If you show among the members of Video game Freak a Pokémon originating from the original Ruby and Sapphire, he'll give you a special certificate to display in your Secret Foundation. In the original video games, Wattson mentioned having programs to convert the entirety of Mauville City but was struggling to do so. Arrive the remakes, it appears he was able to finally achieve his objective as Mauville City has gotten the largest overhaul of any city in Hoenn.
While this pertains to every Mythical (i.e. event just) Pokémon after obtaining/completing the National Pokédex, it's more obvious here thanks to Deoxys arriving after Jirachi and becoming a catchable Pokémon (instead of the original video games where the 'Dex would end at Rayquaza for most players, with the two beng hidden without means of seeing them). To unlock them, you have to talk to a Hex Maniac in the northern part of Route 111's desert using the Mach Bicycle, a Bird Keeper near the Climate Institute at Route 119 using the Acro Bicycle and the moves Browse and Waterfall, and a Biker in the post-game only Fight Resort. While difficult to select them, the original Player Search Program avatars of the Kalos video games remain programmed into game to permit for backwards compatibility with Pokémon X and Y.
If you raised the affection levels of a Pokémon in Pokémon-amie, then traded it from X and Y to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire or vice-versa, the Pokémon will still have the same affection for its original trainer if it's traded back. In the Aqua hideout, Archie had a photograph of him, Shelly and Jirachi used around twelve years agonote that would be when the initial Ruby and Sapphire were released, and claims when Kyogre awakens that he wished to take the globe back to its beginnings to make "that Pokémon" happy. Adaptational Villainy : Used in both games; In Omega Ruby, Maxie is normally a little more ruthless than he is in the initial games, seemingly not caring about Pokémon and wanting humanity to basically expand at any cost, and accusing Tabitha of attempting to replace him as leader when the Admin attempts to warn him against awakening Primal Groudon.
Schrödinger's Question : Upon beginning the post-game in Emerald, the Player Character 's mom is watching a news report about the sighting of a strange Pokémon roaming Hoenn, but doesn't catch its color and asks the participant what it was (between crimson and blue). Dual Boss : Emerald includes yet another Double Battle where in fact the player and Steven Stone team up against Magma Admin Tabitha and Magma Leader Maxie at the Mossdeep Space Middle. Deoxys' forme is dependent on what video game it is encountered in (Regular in Ruby and Sapphire, Acceleration in Emerald), while whether Latias or Latios are fought via this technique is dependent on how the Schrödinger's Issue the player's Mom asks in Emerald was answered.
In Ruby and Sapphire it's strictly post-game, while in Emerald you can go grab it as soon as the battle between Kyogre and Groudon has been resolved. Notice The Game Boy Advance had backwards-compatibility for the overall game Boy Color , but its link cables were unable to connect both systems; coupled with these data framework redesign, there was no way for importing or trading Pokémon from Gold, Silver or Crystal to Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald. These games could be the biggest case of 1 Game for the cost of Two in the franchise, as there is literally no chance to legitimately collect all 386 Pokémon without aid from FireRed , LeafGreen , Colosseum , and XD (Oddly, just Ruby or Sapphire).
In addition to introducing a fresh tale and region to explore and over 100 new Pokémon to catch, Ruby and Sapphire brought with it many new gameplay features such as for example individual natures and Abilities for every Pokémon, dual battles, and Pokémon contests. If you still need even more, spend time on Route 110 building it up. After that, cruise back to Mauville City juiced up, and mind for the Gym. Games are leaf green, sapphire, fire reddish, ruby and emerald.
Pokemon ruby, emerald and sapphire re-printing boxes with game boy advance cartridge good shape be flat packed for great postage. You might ask, if Pokemon Crimson, Blue, and Yellow are on eShop currently, and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire exist, why bring these video games to the eShop? As Ruby and Sapphire curently have remakes, they may be forgone in favor of Pokemon Emerald, which has features not present in R/S or their remakes, such as the Battle Frontier.
In Ruby, the participant could only capture Groudon , while in Sapphire, the player could just catch Kyogre In Emerald, both Legendary Pokémon can be caught in separate caverns after defeating the Elite 4. The main antagonists that the participant faces are Team Magma and Group Aqua , which differs from Ruby and Sapphire where one team was the antagonist and the other was the protagonist, trying to stop the other group. The overall game is an improved remake of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire , increasing the third generation of Pokémon games.
Having exhausted my duplicate of Emerald 1st, then Sapphire, I've experienced a fair bit of time with this particular generation (The best Pokemon game overall continues to be among Crystal and the more recent HeartGold). But the remakes will possess a lot more in keeping with Ruby and Sapphire than Emerald in the manner they will split Team Aqua and Team Magma between your two versions. It depends. There have been broad hints that the Battle Frontier will become returning in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire; not to mention, there will be substantially more Pokémon to fully capture in the late game.
The combination of Pokémon's diminishing popularity, the lame rival (Brendan and May don't even get around to evolving their starters in the initial), pokemon emulator the fact that the region was unusually water heavy, and various missing features conspired to create Ruby and Sapphire something of a black sheep in the series for a long period. Like the GBA itself, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire embodied the awkward middle point between the original Game Boy and the revival of interest in handheld gaming as a result of the Nintendo DS. Certainly the tale in Emerald has about as very much driving force behind it as a bike without pedals - you actually move because you are asked to. On the way you get caught up in the filthy doings of the eco-conscious yet somewhat sinister Groups Aqua and Magma who are trying to awaken warring legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre because of their own mischievous ends.
Extra geek points go to players who manage to ‘Capture ‘Em All', although with nearly 400 of the little buggers to get it isn't as easy as it used to be. Therefore Pokémon was in '96, so that it is usually in Emerald and so it has gone to be in later games. That's not to state that the formula is not a great one, it's just looking for sprucing up. For anybody that have been living under a Geodude since 1996 this is one way a Pokémon game falls: starting in a small town your character is provided a Pokémon and promptly units from an epic adventure to fight and catch monsters in Pokéballs, then teach them and battle to the Pokémon league by defeating the region's 8 Fitness center Leaders. Unfortunately Emerald had not been the game to carefully turn everything around; instead simply because an amalgamated companion to Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire it had been more of a stopgap between two generations of RPG's.
(there have been multiple printings of these games, earlier printings did not have as many security features.) the plastic material should not be as transparent as ruby sapphire emerald. Two-versus-two battles, which seemed a throwaway addition in Ruby and Sapphire, are actually a regular occurrence - individual Trainers gang through to you, and you could even get together with the odd GBA-controlled character for appropriate cooperative fights. We like having the vast majority of the Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon imprisoned in a single cart, we like the wireless capability and we just like the new Battle Frontier, but couldn't we've had all this to begin with, instead of for another 30 notes two years later?
Players who've already soaked up everything Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire have to give you will most likely appreciate the largely subtle changes Emerald makes, thanks to the "gotta capture 'em all" mentality bred by the series, though it's unlikely to do a satisfactory work of scratching the itch for an all-new Pokémon adventure. Ruby and Sapphire were great-looking GBA games when they first came out, though Emerald places in small effort to improve the quality of the images, giving the overall game a slightly aged look. However, Emerald's biggest weakness can be that a lot of hardcore Pokémon players currently played through this adventure when it was released as Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
39 She also included Emerald (alongside Ruby and Sapphire) in a list of Game Boy Advance games that she wished to see on the Nintendo 3DS ' eShop. A man whom players encounter many times throughout the game will eventually allow them to access the Fight Frontier after defeating the Pokémon Little league Champion. Pokemon Emerald is defined in the land of Hoenn and may be the remix of Ruby/Sapphire.
The native Hoenn Pokédex in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald features 202 Pokémon, 135 of which are new.
