Hallo, I'm posting this entry like a week late but it's better than nothing tbh. Anyways this is my first weekly music update, i basically just talk about what music i really like from that week. I will be talking about new music i find, my favourite songs, what playlist im listening to the most and show my spotify stats as well😋

This week, due to the announcements related to Melanie Martinez's new album, I have gone back to my roots and have been listening to all of my favourite songs by her. Melanie has been one of my favourite artists for years now, probably since just before k12 came out!! It's really hard to decide on my favourite songs by her since I really like all of them; despite this I have still decided on my favourite song from each album/ep. From crybaby we have 'pacify her'; from k12 it was a bit harder to decide but i'm going to go with 'highschool sweethearts', and lastly from the after school ep we have 'The bakery'. In the last week almost all of my top songs have slowly become melanie, she's just really amazing like that I guess. Anyways i'm super excited for the new album, her new form is really pretty💕

Some of the other songs seeping into my spotify stats are from a playlist I have called "WHAT IS THIS MELODY ''. This playlist has quite a bit of crystal castles in it. In Fact the overall theme of this playlist is just crystal castles and other songs that I think are kind of similar. I think that my favourite song this week was probably 'Goth' by Sidewalks and skeletons, this song is on the previously mentioned playlist as well!! I just really love how the song sounds, it's a good one to listen to on loop while doing things😊

Other artists I've listened to a lot this week are Lana Del Rey and Glass Animals. I really got into Lana near the middle of last year due to my friend who is a lana stan, and I'm honestly very grateful for it. Lana has so many amazing songs, i just sometimes feel like i'm on another planet listening to them, she managed to place in my top 3 artists during spotify wrapped last year lmao. I don't particularly have a favourite song by her at the moment but i think ultraviolence and art deco may tie with each other. Anyways moving onto glass animals, they have been my favourite band since around 2016. I initially found them through sally face and creepypasta animated memes; 'pork soda' and 'The other side of paradise' , , they really had a chokehold on us all istg. My favourite album by glass animals is probably 'how to be a human being' . Every single song on that album is a masterpiece, I literally cannot dislike any of them if I tried. My favourite song from HTBAHB is probably 'pork soda'; from zaba its 'black mambo'; from dreamland 'space ghost coast to coast', and finally my favourite single is 'golden antlers'🥰

Majority of the music at the top of my stats came from me listening to them on loop for hours at a time and also from exclusively listening to the same playlist for weeks. Fun fact "miss you" by south star has been in my top 20 for months now, i listened to it 399 times last year and i can't seem to get rid of it from my stats now. Anyways, I am now currently working to get rid of those songs from my stats😭

I saw one of those "listening to Gorillaz on shuffle be like" meme videos and I started thinking. Remembering.

Remembering when Damon Albarn sang "you're by my side, but are you still with me? / the answer's somewhere deep in it, I'm sorry, but you're feeling it / but I just have to tell you that I love you so much these days / have to tell you that I love you so much these days, it's true" and my 12 year old self thought it was one of the most beautiful things ever. 8 years later, I find it so sad, but I still love To Binge. On Melancholy Hill was the first song I heard by them and it still moves me to tears. Empire Ants makes me levitate. Istg Plastic Beach is one of my favourite albums ever.

Also it's pretty funny (and somewhat frustrating) that I was in love with the lore, wrote fanfics about the characters in the band, watched everything and anything I could find on YouTube about them (god i cried so much when i watched el mañana for the first time) and listened to them and other Damon Albarn-related projects daily... and then I stopped because apparently no one in my country knew Gorillaz at that time and my peers gave me so much shit for it. And now I navigate the web and interact with people and see that there are lots of fans. And i mean lots. They're one of the most popular acts ever. I think should get "officially" in the fandom... finally.

you never fail to keep me up til 3am to catch up on MA istg (/pos) its so hard to keep myself from squealing and going batshit insane whenever i get to read the cute parts SHDKDJKS . i also love trying to solve these fictional cases in my head as i read (both of the ones ive solved before main cast were serial killer cases , isnt that just a /craaaazy/ coinkadink ahaha) . i was like 🤏 close to making a meme-y google slides bulletin board for my theories like i did with another one HAHAH — anyways , your writing is sooo nice its literally so easy to immerse into your chapters its insane and im such a sucker for whatever the fuck subgenre (?) MA is . its honestly one of my top favorite fics all time (like , you combined so much of my favorite things - how have you done this ?! scara , rivals/enemies to lovers , slowburn , forced proximity AND a fucking detective au ??? im sold .) if only i had more scara likers to share it with SIGH … anyways , before i get more carried away than i already got ill do us a favor and cut myself off . i absolutely adore MA . HUGE thanks to you for writing such a masterpiece , OKAY BYEEE :D

jellyfish, whoever you are, wherever you are right now, i love you. seriously. i have been sobbing uncontrollably reading this.

also the fact that you were also trying to solve the case for this series is SO!!! COOL!!! you have a specific board for your theories on solving cases on fics like these??? and you've solved them before the main cast did??? absolutely fucking amazing dude i can't imagine the many theories you have in mind while figuring out who the serial killers are... even i can't wrap my head around my own fic sometimes.

and i won't deny that all of those subgenres are my favourite too!!! it's insane how i managed to gather them all up into one fic. i'm really glad there are people that sincerely enjoy reading genres of fics that revolve around crimes and unsolvable murder cases, and i'm glad everyone here liked my version of it! thank you so much for sending me this long ask, as i too, have gotten myself carried away by writing this as i brainrot over ma once again, lots of love to you, jellyfish !

hey!

i am marina (or mar) and this a blog i made to track my progress in learning languages and studying for uni, in hopes that i will actually stick to a schedule and be more productive bc this ain't it my dudes...

i am 19 and i use she/her/they

sun in virgo, istp (changes every trimester tbh)

cat person<333 (i adooooore dogs as well but cats have a special place in my heart)

just finished (as of summer 2023) my first year in uni! i am studying computer science and it is boring af (for me) but three years left yoohoo!

i started teaching myself italian during quarantine but it got overwhelming because i couldn't maintain a schedule so i dropped it after six months

i started spanish lessons on october of 2022 and i am currently moving from a1 to a2 level

i also have a c2 level proficiency in english yay me for being gay and on ao3

speaking of gay, i am probably aroace (or i have major attachment issues but who knows)

films/series: good omens (i am not talking about this series without a lawyer), used to be a huge supernatural fan, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (both the 1980 series and the 2005/1995 movies), BARBIE, CAPTAIN MARVEL and BLACK WIDOW (best mcu movies istg), STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE and so on and so on

games: currently i am obsessed with sims 4 (and the mods. the mods.). also i started playing genshin impact in 2022 and despite being quite awful at fights with big bosses, i cant spend hours going after slimes, hilichurls and exploring. god i love exploring.

books: i am currently under a severe reading slump (seriously send help) but i became obsessed with all for the game by nora sakavic two years ago and if i get sick if i don't reread all three books every month<3 0/10 awful books but i would die for them and their characters. my main blog isn't @fuckyeahjeanmoreau for no reason! i also love pride and prejudice and a bunch of ao3 fics<33333

music: right so i listen to pretty much everything as long as its lyrics are decent (see not sexist/homophobic etc). what i listen depends on my mood but take a look at my spotify if you want and let me know if we have songs in common! some favourite albums include: preacher's daughter by ethel cain (i am convinced it's the best album in the history of albums), folklore/evermore by taylor swift, melodrama by lordre, and the whole discography by bts (and each member's solo activity)
