Out of the (unfortunately) many One Piece scenarios bouncing around in my head one of my favorites is Zoro getting hit with the memory loss beam, and only remembering up until like. immediately after Morgan’s defeat. He’s agreed to join up Luffy and is already feeling his heart swell with loyalty, but is still under the impression that he’s going to join up to a much larger crew, with several other members.

So he just blinks awake and at first there’s none of the confusion and yelling that comes with the memory loss trope, he’s okay, he’s banged up cause of Morgan, he’s on a boat because he just became a pirate, and oh hey Luffy’s right there. This must be his new crew.

What are your inspirations for them?

Thank you for liking them! I know they fall into a my little pony type look most times 😭 but I don't really know what my inspiration is! Theyve changed a Lot since my first drawings.

For any satyr-like characters I tend to default to having the brow and nose create a more connected shape like look i wish I knew the origin of why I do that. Probably cuz of some long ago fanart I saw when I was eleven.

Lambs changed so much because I started looking at actual references for lambs.

For narinder I took the nose from my own black cat lol. And my references for him include a variety of cats like sphinx cats, servals, and my own cat again. But also he did kind of fall into a default way I draw cat-like humanoids as well oops look.

I wish I had like a direct inspiration to give you, its just a mix of my natural drawing style with reference. Lots of reference to get them how they are now.

Edit: wow I just posted this and rly took in the fact I only know how to draw two types of characters. Exposing myself.

can i just say that I'm haunted by the image of Ice wearing "one of Mavericks cheapest rolexes". One because of the mental immage of Maverick being the kind of men who not only owns multiple watches but also Rolex, which is absolutely delightful, because oh the quiet vanity of that. And two because of the implied and groundbreaking (to me) domesticity (and defiance of the not talking/acknowledging the thing between the 2 of them) of wearing another person watch. I'm screaming into the void about your brilliance. So I need to ask, do they do that on purpose (before the mission) in a sort if roundabout way of acknowledging each other presence in their life? What would Mav wear that belongs to Ice (apart from that USNA ring eheh)?

pilots/sailors/doctors etc who do high-level specialized work with their hands tend to really be Watch Guys. and “cheap” rolexes (sub $7k ish) are actually pretty affordable if you’re making >$150k a year and want to treat yourself every fifth christmas or something. source: know several sailors & doctors. ALSO the watch ice is wearing in his famous gay plane photoshoot is actually a rolex. So theres some evidence ice at least is (annoying, ostentatious, bad with money, and) a Watch Guy. Maverick’s also wearing a kickass chronograph in TGM so i think he’s also probably a Watch Guy. also… you know, status symbol, honor, et cetera et cetera…
