Just some thoughts about recent WEBTOON discourse from an originals creator. I recognize my inherent bias in this situation.

But please recognize that saying "fuck you" to a company means supporting the workers, not making them out to be unfortunate suckers... "would have/could have/should have's" don't get people out of situations.

"I never would have signed with them" is an incredibly tone-deaf thing to say. "this is why you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket" is true, but it doesn't help people who are contractually obligated into exclusivity.

Most of us are making merch, running patreons, trying to get book deals, etc... and most of us aren't able to stop working and still pay our bills. we're trying. we'd all love to, but we can't.

If you really want things to be better, maybe try not putting down the people who are in the bad situation? it ends up feeling like people using our pain and mistreatment as an outlet to advertise themselves...

Our company is getting worse and worse by the year and we're risking a lot to talk about it! Please listen! The only power we have is complaining about things, and it's risky every time!

I woke up motivated and hyped and now I am depressed, either I got a very long bad luck streak or there's something wrong with my work, it can't be statistically possible for me to fail time after time after time.

I was trying to find some trending audio on Instagram to test if that helps and I'm finding kids half my age who draw literal stick figures but have 8k followers.

I should work but I just want to lay down, something has to work at some point but it really doesn't.

There's no way the algorithm hates me this much in every single website I've tried and have constantly uploaded content for the past 16 years. Starting to believe I'm just that bad and my work is simply unappealing and that just keeps growing.

I have reached the stage of pre-vacation where you start jettisoning any glorious plans I had of packing, cooking, cleaning thoroughly before we get out of Dodge. Lol. Now I'm the mad hamster running in circles.

We decided to leave a day early, so now I'm doing laundry, packing, processing ciders, and doing more laundry. Lol.

But, this is the name of the game! Being a homemaker is serving your home and people however they need, so shifting everything to full-blown laundry/pack/do-we-all-have-clean undies is my work, delight, and calling. Let's do this!

Also, the first batch of Fire Cider is ready for the changing weather. I'm planning on another batch when we get home.

Personal rant. I am a copy editor and I fixed an occurrence of “as few as” to “as little as” on a document. The client switched it back. I switched it to “as little as” again, citing Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster (above) and she responded with such lovely sentiments as “That is grammatically incorrect” and “I disagree with the editor.” Even argued with my boss. I eventually had to put it the way she wanted it—incorrectly—cuz she is the client. Why would anyone choose that hill to die on?
