Martin Freeman of BBC Sherlock insulted Elementary and specifically Lucy Liu in the press. He straight up called Lucy Liu a "dog" in an interview APPARENTLY as a joke, because calling female actors ugly is hilarious. Benedict Cumberbatch was more measured about it, but he still said he was cynical about Elementary because it would lose the "male friendship" dynamic, which of course Johnlock shippers used against Joan Watson fans. Even the lead BBC Sherlock actors got in on the yaoi victimization of Joan Watson... 😔

she wasn't even in the same SHOW as the yaoi I've been convinced she deserves to win the entire poll. I was a Johnlocker but I did watch the first season of Elementary and it was fine????? It was totally okay????? Especially in hindsight given how hard Sherlock season four flopped. Also Lucy Liu is a queen and deserved zero vitriol for *checks notes* playing a character???? She's Spock's canon partner in AOS, and I get it because they're not a great couple, but she gets villianized in fic so much. They constantly make her an asshole (which totally has nothing to do with her being black /sarcasm) and abusive just for the crime of dating a man headcanoned as gay. And I mean, I think Spock is gay and her being a love interest was unnecessary but still! She's cool!

Oh my god so in the Star Trek reboot she’s Spock’s girlfriend and the fandom has no idea what to do with her??? Like she is ALWAYS either such a bitch or like the mom friend? And there is so much more to her character than that? But they always break down her character AND find a quick and easy way to break up her and Spock. I’m not even mad at that but at least treat their relationship with some weight instead of just being like ‘it never mattered’. People can love multiple people throughout the course of their lives. You know that right? Just because you loved someone before doesn’t make your new love any less special. And even headcanoning Spock as gay… you realize he doesn’t need to be attracted to Uhura for their relationship to have mattered, right? Even if he confused friendship for romantic attraction, him feeling such strong friendship and openly expressing it is so monumental for him!!! 

she's dating Spock, who people ship with Kirk, so fans have decided that it's horrible writing and "really, they're just defending her, the movies turned her into just a love interests," which is not at all true. The movies do so much more for her to the point that the fans who have only seen the movies think that the main characters are Kirk, Spock, and Uhura instead of the Kirk, Spock, McCoy of the original series. Also having a black women being shown as being desired and loved in mainstream media, particularly by one of the most popular characters of all time, is a good thing, not making her "just a love interest"

this is gonna be a long response, so it's going under the cut. because when i say @supersaturnnyoomkitty and i have talked about this A LOT, i'm NOT JOKING. but, yes, for a reminder to those who follow me for completely different reasons: when analyzing this scene, i threw that line in as a throwaway, because it's definitely not Toki's room, and the only important thing of note is that he's getting the fuck away from the creepy photos of his parents.

the bricks are a different color and shape, and there aren't any pictures or posters anywhere to be seen.

here's everwhere in mordhaus where we thought it could be: outside the recording studio, the room where facebones addresses the klokateers, and, of course, the bathroom* (*the bathroom theory is way more complicated than it should be).

so, we'll probably never know, because brendon small refuses to email us back, but here are some of our theories as to each of these places.

1- outside the recording room. he's listening to skwisgaar play. now i'm not just saying that because i'm a trash skwistok shipper, i'm also saying that because toki obviously has a very strong attachment to skwisgaar's guitar playing. call it romantic, call it idol worship, call it whatever you want, it doesn't matter—in the credits for Dethalbum III, he thanked skwisgaar's fingers, and his only plans for vacation post-album release were watching skwisgaar play guitar. he's got a problem. (this also goes into my and nyoom's theories about them all having jack-off songs, spawned from her fic "Sensual Playback", don't worry about it, it's not important right now.)

2- the gathering room of klokateers/full dethstaff meetings. uh. that's just. well.

how do you want me to take this anon? do you want me to be serious about this? do you want me to tell you how i've considered the possibility that toki just got as far the fuck away from the photos of his parents as he could and this is where he ended up? because that's my only theory for this. (this does also just sort of go with the fact that most of the walls in mordhaus look like this. it could be ANYWHERE. consider the gathering hall to just be a catch-all for, toki just being a little freak.)

3- the bathroom thing is way more complicated than it should be, and here's why: there's a public/staff bathroom. we see it most prominently when they're all drinking bleach together, and it could very well be there. you mentioned this shower scene specifically:

and that scene is also near identical to murderface's own shower scene when he was scared of being gay (we even see more of the public bathroom in the background):

that would make sense, i guess. BUT—it's implied they all have their own bathrooms, right? pickles and murderface both do, anyway:

not sure why murderface would shower in the public bathroom when he's having his gay panic and you'd think he'd want to be as far away from naked men as possible, but that's not my business.

side note: i just noticed for the first time that murderface took his shorts all the way off to take a shit, but left his demonias on. this man i stg—

i find it hard to believe toki also wouldn't have his own bathroom. i'm not sure if this scene is meant to be in the public bathroom or either murderface's or skwisgaar's, but it's also something to consider:

though, as i'm writing this, i'm coming to a realization that maybe they did all have their own bathrooms prior to the attack on mordhaus. i completely forgot they renovated the whole place. they might have gutted their personal bathrooms and replaced it with a public one, which is why all the showers and bathtubs seem to be there. the shower that toki's in might have been either his own, or a public one that was later expanded after the renovations. either way, i'm positive it's a public bathroom and not one that toki would have had, and i think that for one major reason:

toki's bedroom is so super tiny. especially compared to nathan's or william's bedroom. his bed is small and snug, also. i think he's never really needed anything that big for himself. he grew up extremely deprived and abused, just having anything that was truly his own was all he'd ever wanted. plus, maybe having to sleep in a massive space all by himself might've triggered his memories of being forced to stay alone in the punishment hole for days on end. of course, that's not to say toki doesn't love excess, but given how small his own bedroom is, i don't know where he would even be able to have his own private bathroom.

not to mention, in aotd, we see he doesn't like to go to the bathroom alone. sure, he's regressing in that moment, but i still don't think he likes to be alone, if he can help it—hence the stuffed animals and pictures of his parents (regardless of how creepy they are, at least he's not alone when they're staring at him).

i think that's my thesis of the whole thing, actually. toki's not being a creepy lil guy on purpose, i don't think. i just think he doesn't wanna jack off in front of his parents, but he also has hang-ups about being alone, so he goes to random places around mordhaus. it's not a kink thing, i'm like. 99% sure. i just think he's still trying to figure out how to be comfortable with himself.

plus, the boys were all ready to suck their own dicks together in the same room. i really don't think any of them would consider it all that weird, so long as toki himself doesn't act weird about it.

Enjoltaire : a classic for good reason. they seemed really base level to me at first because i watched the movie first, but once i read the brick and really saw their dynamic i fell for them HARD. for me the beauty of this pairing is really rooted in the substance of their individual characters as opposed to like a romantic relationship. idk its so difficult for me to verbalize why i love them so much i think i just love the idea of finding common ground despite difficulties. enjolras and grantaire mirror each other in such a beautiful way that i feel the musical/movie couldn't really capture without demoting it to a puppy love grantaire/mean enjolras dynamic idk i have such an issue with some portrayals of them because i feel like they create a victim/abuser situation where there wasn't one but that's like a whole post within itself anyway i feel like im getting incoherent i love exr with every fiber of my fucking being just read the brick if you don't get it ok the movie and musical just dont do it justice and for the love of god avoid the fics written in 2012/2013 after the movie hype its all wRONGGGG (i love you george blagden but you created a twink grantaire movement) (they pull each others pigtails okay its a mutual obsession) (enjolras why don't you just ignore him baby? glutton for punishment my dear we all know if you hated him you wouldn't let him hang around) (anyway) i should make a seperate post about my exr feelings bc i could talk ab them for hours

Hot take. And probably not the one a lot of people would agree with.

We're all very happy that omens are renewed for season 3, and with the onslaught of very romantic fan content of the two, I got the impression that most people in the fandom would love nothing more than to see Aziraphael and Crowley together at the end of it all, white picket fence and adopted kids and all that jazz. And while I adore the fanarts and fics and everything about this ship, I wouldn't necessarily want to see your typical romantic comedy ending in the 3rd season. That would diminish their relationship and make it out to be just another ship that went canon, and that, frankly, would be hella boring. At least, for me.

Yes, we had that kiss, but was it actually a romantic kiss? Did Crowley actually knew what they were doing? In my mind, they did what they saw humans do, to make a dear person stay. And I think, since both of them practically genderless, it wouldn't be a far fetched idea to say that they're also (both of them) asexual creatures. Because... well, sexual drive comes from your genitals, doesn't it? And they don't have them. Probably. I didn't check personally. (Btw, sorry for assaulting your eyes with the g-word)

To me, that kiss meant love, but not sexual love and not even romantic love. It felt like something deeper and stronger and more complicated than those kinds of love could ever be. And to soil it with human-like "happy" ending would do it injustice. It's not your regular happy lgbtq+ pair, it's not your gay uncles, it's not your sappy melodrama. At least, I wouldn't want it to become such. Consuming fluffy and flirty and gay and all the domestic stuff content is ONE thing. But actually having that in the show? Nah.

That being said, I don't actually know what kind of ending would satisfy me, but I surely don't want them to settle down and live their lives as humans, nor I want their relationship to become your standard lovey-dovey stuff.

P.s. I know I don't reblog much omens, so you may not even be aware that I'm in the fandom, cause I keep getting my good omens fill on pinterest instead. And I don't know if my hot take is actually hot, maybe it's lukewarm and somebody else already said that on tumblr. Oh well.

HAHA thank you!! I had 6 chapters outlined but I don't think I ever actually started writing it because I wanted to have a finished plan first and I just hit a block plotting... I'm gonna put a readmore cuz I got some splainin to do...

Jesse and Yum were younger in it than they're implied to be in canon, like 11 or 12. Terry and his sister were former child actors and he never worked a day in his life. Pupa was Terry's dog. (a maltese I think?) Yumyulack and Korvo were not their real names, I hadn't settled on what those would be yet. Korvo was a nickname Terry came up with for a surname like Korvis or Korvusky or something like that.

Since his mum died Yum had had some kind of breakdown and had started insisting he was actually an alien possessing a human body and his real name was Yumyulack etc, which is why he was in therapy lol. Jesse and he became bffs intially because the were both terminally uncool. I wasn't going to go too far into who Jesse's mum was or what happened to her because I liked the idea of Korvo as an extremely competent father whose kid wouldn't feel at all deprived :')

The way Korvo and Terry ended up reconnecting was that Terry was a real good-for-nothing guardian and would often leave Yums home alone for long stretches of time, not have food in the house, bring randos over, etc, and as Jesse and Yums got closer Korvo started to notice that and become really worried about it, so Yums would spend more and more time at Korvo's place. The relationship between Terry and Korvo was extremely tense and fraught because of this (as you can imagine), neither of them had much respect for each other. Lots of hatesex and identity crises :) Terry hadn't had a real childhood himself, had been living in kind of a dissociative fog of parties his whole life, didn't want to be responsible for Yums and resented his sister both for having the kid and dying on him lol. Not that this was the kind of thing he would have said out loud but... you know.

Terry and Jesse got along great though (obviously) which made Yumyulack happy and Korvo extremely uncomfortable lol... Terry ended up admitting to Jesse (in a G-rated way) that he and Korvo had a romantic history and Jesse was immediately thrilled by this and wanted them to get back together so Yums could be her brother and she and Terry could drink mocktails and vape candy flavours all day.

I was plotting this out before season 3 came out. I had seen animatics for the first 6 episodes of it but not the rest of it... I would like to go back to it someday but I think the premise would need a pretty intense reworking because I don't know if I can see Terry as so irresponsible a guardian anymore lol. Season 3 Terry for sure knows all the kids' friends' names and remembers exactly who has crushes on whom and what everyone's best subject is. I also don't really like how easy it lets off Korvo, I would want now for there to be a parallel track about how Korvo's inflexibility and negative outlook are also fucking up Jesse's and his life in less immediately obvious ways.

What made you ship them? It had definitely crossed my mind but this fic you may have heard of naturally turned it all the way up to 10/10. Also Adrielle is so gorgeous that I will throw her at literally anyone tbh.

What are your favorite things about the ship? The entire concept of the Hag Support Group is so charming to me; it's one of the few side quests I always do in Act 3 even though that Ethel fight makes me want to vomit blood. Truly all it needs is a little romance! And it is very romantic, a love that is a safe harbor after surviving a storm. It also of course involves my favorite character in any situation, a Sad Wet Cat Woman (Adrielle) and I like Mayrina, truly some dude off the streets, being the leader and hero of the pack.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Impossible to answer for basically all these ships but this one especially, as I have never seen Adrielle even mentioned in fandom except for us two and I believe I have seen one (1) fanart of Mayrina. That's the unpopular opinon. Philistinism smh

What made you ship them? When I bebopped around the Last Light Inn for the first time, after shitting bricks wandering the shadow-cursed lands for like an hour because I couldn't find it somehow and I'm a colossal pussy when it comes to horror, and being gobsmacked to discover the oasis of MILFs therein. The wheels were spinning but then Talli said "If you're alright with Jaheira, you're alright with me" instantly made me go "GAY"

What are your favorite things about the ship? Two Harper officers, called to arms by the greatest crisis in a hundred years. It looks cold in the shadow-cursed lands. They can't show doubt, they can't shiver in front of the young'uns that look up to them... but perhaps they could keep each other warm, sometimes. Talli naturally has feelings-catcher written all over her so it doesn't end well, but was it worth it? I think so...

2. fake dating!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no need to elaborate on that one it speaks for itself i think

3. idk what it's called but um ig when the characters play a game? i think it's a good way to explore who each one of them is (think the dnd episode in she-ra) and it's generally a really interesting setting imo. also really cool when the game is affected by real life somehow, or highlights character dynamics through it (like for example all the skk fics where they shred everyone at charades bc they're just so in sync). just the use of in-universe games for narrative

4. lotus machine aka what every character's ideal life would be (<- maruki kinnie) + its inversion, aka what their biggest nightmare is. again i think it speaks for itself (tho idk if it's exactly what you meant when you said in fandom i apologize. but. it's cool to see in fics too! just more rare)

5. soulmate au 👉👈 it's less about the idea of soulmates to me and more how versatile it is. anything could be a soulmate au. there's so much to do with it and many ways to play even with the basic, most common premises of it. and it slaps every time

He's actually not terribly fleshed out because the main bulk of my fic is either just before the two of them meet, or after the destruction of the earth.

However, if my sequel fic ever gets made he will be featured more prominently, the below will explain how this is possible.

This is probably really badly thought out and subject to change but:

His name is Rhys Garrido

He is a second generation Dominican American with some Portuguese heritage too

He is a trans gay man

He is a little older than I hc Pierce; around 30 in 2016

He's one of the hundreds of investors present at the Saints 4th July party in 2016 which was set up to gain support for Casey's presidential campaign

He is handsome, rich, powerful, a little eccentric, and a romantic at heart.

He and Pierce hit it off immediately at the party but lose touch

They meet again a couple of years later and start up a relationship

Pierce tells Casey he wants to step down as her second-in-command in November 2019 because he wants to settle down with Rhys, he is considering retiring fully at the end of the presidential term if she gets a second one.

Although Pierce is more open with his sexuality by this point, they both feel a more private life would be safer for them.

Obviously Pierce asks the Zin to check for him in the pods post-SRIV

Unfortunately they can't find him bc due to the way Zinyak operates (🖕) he ends up under his deadname

Kinzie finds him in March/April 2022 due to a complicated conspiracy theory involving the Dewynters that is (probably?) not correct

This is during the time many of the Saints are off fighting the new planet

So Pierce comes back from the planet they're taking to settle down on, to find the guy he always wanted to settle down with waiting for him :3

They get engaged around November 2022.

I think that's all I really have so far and apologies if some of this is poorly thought out, as I said his character does not feature too prominently in my current fic but will if the sequel becomes a thing so this is the first time I've actually written this down.

Yep. You heard it right! The COSMIC series is about to get some big changes. (Not really). And please note, cause I cannot stress this enough, these changes pertain to the fem copy and the fem copy ONLY.

WHAT'S CHANGING:

●This particular pronoun copy ONLY is moving away from Will Byers as the love interest.

     ○I know, you might be thinking "but what about that A/N saying you were never gonna change it?". The one I wrote in book 3, E Pluribus Unum part 3 is the one I'm speaking of and it has been updated for a while. I suggest you go look at it cause I'm not sure I can sum it up as well as I did there.

●Relatively speaking, previous books will not change. My current plan is to carry the show on out from s4 in a new direction while still putting a respectful spin on Will's sexuality in the previous 3 books. Again, without changing canon sexuality.

     ○No, i will not "tweak" his sexuality in any way. He is gay, and shown to be canonically uncomfortable by female affection on top of his feelings for Mike. This will carry over into COSMIC. Please just trust me. I promise I have every intention to get this right!

WHY IT'S CHANGING:

●Out of respect for Will's canon sexuality.

● As a lesbian, I wish I had fics that explored the concept of compulsory heterosexuality when I was younger and reading every TMR Newt x Reader I could get my hands on. (Yes, I was a Newt girl back in the day lol). Nobody has to relate to it, some people have even said it made things more confusing, but in my personal experience i just wish I had had been made aware of the concept. That's all. I can't stress enough I'm not trying to push that on you. And why I'm hesitant to try and explain it correctly on here. And no, it likely will not be referenced by name at all in the series.

●Just as much as it is to give you the readers a chance freedom to explore yours.

      ○Whether you see yourself in Y/n Henderson, or Will Byers. No one is saying you have to go out and experiment, it's just a story for entertainment and escape, but

●COSMIC has evolved far beyond what I ever thought it would be in the best way possible. And because of that, there are times where I wonder/find myself wanting to allow Y/n to be with other characters. You might have a few in mind, and they're probably right on the money.

WHO WILL BE THE NEW LI?:

●I, unfortunately, will not be answerthing that today. I will eventually, but given VOL 2 is about to premiere, we dont know who could bite it, what could happen, where the story will go exactly, what will be set up for s5, etc, I am hesitant to make it official.

●I've disclosed who I hope to elect to be the new LI to a very small hand full of people and likely won't be telling anyone else until I make the decision and next announcement. But I do have someone in mind I hope to make the new LI, but even that won't likely happen until s5 even if it does pan out cause I want a grace period for Y/n and Will. They're not just gonna go through this change together, but they're doing so on top of all these traumatic events (piling on top of existing trauma).

●It wouldn't even be the end of the world if there wasn't an LI in the end! Because romantic relationships, as beautiful and important as they are in human nature (this does vary from person to person, granted), they aren't what make us human. Friendships, the connection we have to our family, and the world around us are equally as beautiful and important and I'm stating right now I'm not totally closed off to the idea of carrying the rest of this out with no LI!

WHEN WILL WE KNOW?:

●Well, I gotta watch vol 2 tonight and if who I have picked out a) lives and b) ends up in the right place (emotionally and plot wise, but mostly emotionally) then I can actually make the decision official. Whether or not I announce it before or after I plan s4 remains to be seen

●Yes, I definitely tried to hold on in one way or the other to this idea of a Will x fem reader even as recently as just before the vol 1 premiere which isn't something I'm exactly proud of or glad I did. Sexuality Headcanon: she is bisexual to Me. I don't think she leans any particular way attraction-wise, but I can see her being more willing to actually get into a relationship with a woman. A BROTP I have with said character: Stan/Wendy is The Fave, and I forever think that they remain very close after their final breakup. Wendy serves as Stan's designated advice person on Kyle-related issues, and Stan serves as someone that she's comfortable venting to/being more vulnerable around. I also really enjoy a Craig/Wendy BROTP. That Kivea fic where they're both figure skaters changed me as a person.

When I started shipping them: Picture this - the year is 2013, it's Dr Who's 50th anniversary, and I am but a humble twelve-year-old whose only exposure to Dr Who has been Matt Smith and nothing but Matt Smith. UKTV airs episodes of classic who every week to celebrate the anniversary, and March is the month they show Jon Pertwee era episodes. One of these episodes is The Daemons. The rest is history.

My thoughts: They are just so??? They are these two gay men from completely different social backgrounds thrown together in this completely buckwild job where they spend all their days fighting martians or whatever, and they probably never would have met without it and they can bond over this unique shared experience they have despite how different they are and I just- I can't, they're too good, my god

What makes me happy about them: Basically what I said above - they go through so much and yet they can always come back to each other, and it makes my hopeless romantic, angst loving heart so warm

I guess the lack of content for them annoys me more than anything else.

Things I look for in fanfic: What do I look for in Benton/Yates fanfic? Existence, my friend. If someone writes Benton/Yates, I will read it. Anything is better than nothing.

My wishlist: I mean, I love a post Dinosaurs angst fic, I always like those. I think the funniest and best part about dnf to me is that at the end of the day they're just two best friends. Putting all possible romantic implications aside, they're two guys who have over 19k fanfiction works in a tag about them being together, they flirt on stream and they actively toss fuel on the fire/engage in the fact that people think they might be dating. Dream will like fanart on twitter with heavy implications of them being in a romantic relationship or that are straight up tagged dreamnotfound. George managed to talk about dnf so much that he fooled a friend who he's met on multiple occasions and probably talks to on semi-regular basis into thinking that he's was legitimately dating Dream/was gay. They put a donation goal of 50k for a charity stream in order to reveal like 3 texts, one of which read 'think about this dick fucko'. Dream paid George four thousand dollars to respond to a text of his with the 🤤emoji. Dream took an online quiz titled 'Are You In Love With Your Best Friend' while in a discord room with a couple thousand people listening in and he did it twice both times with said best friend listening in . There's been a fanfiction posted about them that broke ao3 three times and is currently one of the top fics on ao3 with over 2 million hits. It's surpassed in views only by another mcyt fic and a haikyuu fic. (Although it does have more kudos then both.) The bee video. "I can be your pet". George has talked about committing marriage fraud. Dream held a fanfiction contest wherein said popular ship was allowed. Their friend group brings it up as a joke frequently. George sent Dreams mom a message saying they were dating. Dream tells George what kind of haircut he should get and George calls Dream in the middle of said haircut to make sure it looks like he said. Dream has a room dedicated to fans' gifts, letters, etc. and in it there's a corner for dnf things. They were going to meetup but covid happened. They faked a meetup. Waiting is painful. George will look at the colors green and blue and say dnf. "Why now?", "Because George." They sync their sleep schedules. They spend 10 hours in a call together. They want to move in together forever. After 7 fucking years, they've finally met. They're two guys, they're best friends, they're soulmates.
