If Marinette was a guy, let me tell you what would've happened. People would go WILD for a sensitive, artistic and cute boy who's lovesick and a big romantic. Him having Adrien's photos would never be a big deal bc from a long time, fandom is apologetic and too forgiving of a male characters action. He wouldn't be called a stalker, he would be called protective and so possessive and cute. I've seen ppl defend a guy who drugs the mc and sexually assaulted her. Trust me, this won't be a problem.
Tumblr media
I know! Literally the only male main characters who get crap for their behaviour are Danny Zuko from Grease, Noah from Notebook, Howard Volovitz from Bug Bang Theory (who btw had character development unlike Raj who ACTUALLY deserves hate but doesn't get it) and Ross Geller from Friends. Everyone else is totally fine.
I know the praise for being "good fathers" Homer Simpson from Simpsons and Richard Waterson from The Amazing World Of Gumball get when they are both sh*tty fathers and sh*tty husbands.
Homer always whines about how much he hates his life and his own family and his job and literally all his friends tell him they would die for a life like that but he doesn't appreciate it. Every time Marge told him to do something useful for their household he doesn't want to do it and she has to. For a while I loved him because he's hands down the funniest character in the show until he found out Marge is going to see a therapist every week from how unhappy she is with her life, instead of talking about that to her and trying to make their marriage better, he chose not to tell her anything because he thinks the therapy is enough, he didn't even feel sorry for her because after therapy she's always cooking good meals and is in mood for s*x so it works for him. Every time he ruined something she made he gets rewarded in the end of the episode, and she and their kids always forgive him. He literally doesn't even care about Maggie, always makes Lisa's life harder, and HE LITERALLY CHOKES BART AND PEOPLE SEE THAT AS FUNNY AND NO ONE EVER CALLED IT OUT! Bart literally has trauma from that, it was established in the show and the movie. You know who is hated in that show? Lisa. Lisa, who is one of the sweetest characters and one of my favourite characters I relate so much to, is hated because of her religion, Homer is loved for being a jerk.
Richard Waterson is so bad my own grandma hated him! He does literally nothing around the house and kids, Nicole has to work and take care of three freakin children AND the household but he can get away with everything and people even see him as a good guy who "tries his best" because he spends all day in bed eating junk food.
Peter Griffin and Quagmire from Family Guy are also horrible characters. Peter is a bad father who hates his daughter and Quagmire is a LITERAL r*pist and people not only love Peter but also laugh at Quagmire's r*pe jokes and scenes where they hinted that he r*ped someone.
Patrick Star from Spongebob Squarepants is so bad that I was a kid and I already hated him. He's treating Spongebob like cr*p and uses him and Spongebob always has to apologise cuz HOW DARE HE BE MAD AT HIS BEST FRIEND WHO'S ALSO THE WORST FRIEND YOU COULD EVER HAVE and Patrick is so popular he even got a spin-off show.
Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls was the biggest hypocrite ever and no one hates him, everyone hates the main female character who was also a hypocrite but you know how it goes - she learned her lesson, she became a better person, and he got rewarded even though he's still a jerk and he doesn't even realize he's a jerk.
I already wrote about My Best Friend's Wedding and Made of Honor being two movies with the same plot but MBFW has a female lead and MoH has male lead and the female lead also suffered the consequences and learned her lesson and she lost and EVERYONE EVERYWHERE hates her, you won't see anyone on the Internet who loves her, but no one hates him who won by doing something terrible, never learned his lesson and never faced the consequences. She can't be with a guy she loves but he can be with a girl he loves and she is terrible he's not, he's a hero.
In that movie Emma the main character who's wonderful ended up with a guy who was is always criticising her and yelling at her and I don't see people complaining about that.
Gumball in The Amazing World Of Gumball is a really bad kid. He's selfish and mean for no reason and no one hates him and he doesn't get character development but you know what? I'm glad no one hates him cuz he's just a kid - and so is Marinette. Gumball is actually the most accurate representation of a kid his age. But he doesn't receive criticism for stuff Marinette receives criticism all the time, even when doing something bad wasn't in her intentions. I would rather want them to criticise his father Richard if they have to criticise someone but no way they'll get criticism cuz they are male characters.
Maxim Lavrov from The Kitchen is literally THE WORST main character I've ever seen in my life and I watched so much stuff. He is constantly stalking Victoria, his on-off girlfriend, literally 70% of times they had s*x that was because he literally forced her to do it even when she told him to let her go and that is seen as hot but actually that's r*pe, he stole her documents so she can't travel with other guy when they broke up, he poked holes on her tires to prevent her from leaving with someone else, he stole her medical records in hospital when she was pregnant to see if the baby was his, he spread rumours that she is dating their boss who's married and that she would date anyone who can buy her stuff, he fought his rival out of jealousy, he cheated on her twice with the same woman, he didn't want to do anything around their apartment and she had to everything herself when they got married, he didn't like her for being "too perfect", he dated the girl he cheated with the first time he broke up with Victoria and when karma did it's work and he got cheated on he pursued Victoria immediately as if he would actually date her again if he didn't break up with this girl and when Victoria didn't want to date him he blamed her for their relationship failing and he called her a gold digger, he always grabbed her by her hand forcefully and he was really rough with her when she didn't want to talk even when she was pregnant, he followed her everywhere ALL THE TIME and spied on her. I think only my mom and I can't stand him. Everyone else loves him on the fan page and everyone who's seen the show. They love him. The only consequence he suffered was when she broke up with him both times when he cheated but even in the end of the show they didn't get together but they were in good terms and they worked at the same place and he was allowed to take care of their daughter with her and he got a promotion too. Without even trying.
Shrek literally signed a contract to get rid of his family and I feel like I'm the only one who hated him in that movie, no one complains about that character downgrade cuz like how tf do you disown everyone you love and still get a reward in the end?!
Raymond, Robert and Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond are treating their wives horribly, no one said anything about them. They are all horrible, you don't know which one is worse. In fact, ELR makes abuse Debra, Raymond's wife, has to suffer from his family funny.
Fallon and Adam from Dynasty - Fallon always works on being a better person even when she breaks a vase while Adam kills people and all is forgiven
I'm sure there are a lot more other examples and these are just a few, but female characters ALWAYS suffer the consequences in stuff I watched. I don't remember ever seeing a female character cheating her partner and getting away with it, a male character is always forgiven for cheating after the female character is really hurt, she always forgives him and they are a happy couple. And don't tell me about rom com jerks who get the girl every time for treating her terribly. Also women in rom coms are shallow if they choose a hot tall bf but male characters can choose women who look like literal supermodels and that's totally not shallow. I just hate these stereotypes. "If male character did it they would get cancelled" I literally grew up watching male characters who never changed and those toxic ones ended up as a pop culture icons. It's a rare case when a male character's behaviour is called out.
Bish I literally had to watch people draw Chat Noir punching Ladybug and people saying he should do it in the comments and him getting praised when he yelled at her and that's totally fair from our fandom? That's not gender equality, that's misogyny.

hello there! tw for classism/racism. the way ppl love Zuko and vilify Jet is so alarming to me (as a jetko fan, even) because it's super telling that they'd hate the poor colonized dark-skinned kid when he's essentially a mirror of so many beloved characters *sigh*
this has been sitting in my drafts for a while because i have so many opinions about jet oh my god. like you're right that fandom is racist about him but there's so much more to unpack
like i feel like so much of villainizing jet is just lazy fanfic writing. a lot of fic in the jetko tag is zukka with past jetko, where the author clearly decided that zuko should have a abusive ex and then for ~some reason~ chose a brown guy to fill that role. i hate fanfic like that, that comes up with roles and forces the characters into them rather than shaping the story around existing characterization, and it can be really revealing of the authors' biases.
but at the same time i'm also wary of anyone who acts like he was totally right and the show did him wrong by villainizing him. for one thing, a kids' show was not going to get into the ethics of violent resistance. star trek deep space nine did, with former freedom fighter/terrorist kira nerys, but though her resistance fighting is framed as justified, she's very much haunted by the innocent lives she took and whenever she talks about it it's clear that that life was draining and miserable and not heroic. it's not something atla was going to get into.
plus, the show already HAS characters wounded by the fire nation who engage in direct&violent resistance: the gaang! katara in "the southern raiders" is directly compared to him. jet is her tragic foil as azula is zuko's - the person who couldn't break the cycle. azula stayed trapped in ozai's abuse while zuko broke free, jet stayed consumed by revenge while katara broke free.
seeing jet as an abuser or a heroic resistance fighter misses what's interesting about him. if he had security in his life (a stable home, family, etc.), would he feel the need to manipulate and control others around him? if he hadn't lost so much, would he have be as obsessed with revenge? probably not. to put it another way - it's easy to be a saint in paradise. but out in occupied territory, there are no saints. just angry, scared, determined people who will do anything to survive.
youtube
(btw the woman sisko is talking to is kira nerys, the former resistance fighter i mentioned earlier)
THAT'S what's interesting about jet. his flaws are ultimately not a condemnation of him or anyone like him but of the system that made him that way. he's not good but he's not as bad as people make him out to be and if he hadn't died he could've healed. he and zuko are both profoundly fucked up unpleasant teenage boys and if you can see the nuance in zuko you should be able to see it in jet too.

this ask is prompting you to ramble to your heart's content about toh
omg tysm anon this means so much i definitely didn't start crying when i read this nope
btw obligatory warning for season 2 spoilers!!
SO. the owl house.
first off, i'm gonna talk about Luz + the main gang bc i absolutely love them. so you have Luz, who's insane but like. in a lovable way. like if i knew her irl i would probably be terrified of her but she's also really nice and stuff!! just like. no self preservation instinct. anyway she's unhinged but very fun !
then Eda, aka the Owl Lady, aka wine aunt extraordinaire. she's very much like Luz except i would actually trust her with my life and she's a sweetheart and i want her to adopt me so fucking bad. also she's cursed and that's kinda fun. sometimes. actually it isn't but she sure looks cool when she's in her owl/monster/beast/evil form-
Hooty (i. spelled that as hotty at first and am extremely ashamed) and King are the first siblings that Luz obtains. Hooty (oh my FUCKING god why do i keep calling him hotty) is obnoxious and can take off his own skin, which is horrific, and King is a very good boy. certified munchkin. i wanna pet him.
then there's everyone at school who i love So Much, Gus is my child and Willow is so fucking badass and Amity is girlfriend™ (just not at first). honorable mention for Principal Bump because he will forever be the best magical school principal and i wanna give him a hug
i really kinda thought the show was boring for the majority of the first season, but holy fuck did it deliver around ep16-ish. like everything starts to come together, we get a main villain (Belos), a main quest (getting the portal back), and more stuff!! it's just really awesome, it became one of my favorite series in just two episodes.
i really love how Eda's sister (her name has currently been forgotten lol) became friends with Hooty, they got such a nice friendship after everyone kinda hated Hooty and it made me really happy.
THEN!!!! ENTER HUNTER (aka my favorite fucking character of all time currently). just. omg. Zuko but Even More Traumatized (probably. maybe). it's so hard to tell what he's thinking, especially when he's first introduced. he's really cheerful and....well, not friendly, but he's very confident and boisterous, and clearly believes that he's a good person/on the right side. on the other hand, even in his first few episodes it's really obvious he's uh. not that mentally healthy. (like in the scenes where he starts infodumping about something he's read and then just kinda. cuts himself off. that was so relatable it made me sad every time hgfdfghjhgf)
and then the big reveal about him in s2e16, oh my god. i called a lot of the major plot twists but the fact that he's literally a fucking clone of Belos's probably-brother??? imagine how mentally fucked up finding that out would make you. he held himself together Surprisingly Well considering his entire life was shattered in like. less than an hour and he realized he was going to fucking die if he ever saw his uncle again. like. just imagine. he's already been abused so much (personal hc of mine that Belos gave him those scars) and he's already terrified of Belos, but he doesn't really think Belos is going to kill him. maybe hurt him, maybe demote him or something else bad but he doesn't think he's going to die and then he finds out that literally all oF HIS PREDECESSORS WERE MURDERED BY BELOS???? AND THAT HE WAS JUST SOMETHING THAT COULD BE THROWN AWAY IF HE MESSED UP OR DID ANYTHING BAD??????? CMON BRO THAT'S A-TIER WRITING
and his dynamic with the rest of the characters is so great, i love how he and Luz always bicker with each other but then work together, and Amity being able to relate to him and trying to make him feel better at the lake/titan blood mine and him and Willow and Gus are just like siblings they're so adorable. Gus helping him with his panic attack is one of my favorite scenes in any show i've ever watched and i am not kidding about that. they're just so ugh. showing him that he can be loved and it's not his fault and hhhaahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaa *loud screeching*
the whole day of unity thing was absolutely incredible, i love how Darius and animal coven dude and Raine were actually trying to stop the day of unity before the mcs even really knew how big of a deal it was, and i love that you can't tell that Darius and animal dude were on the good side until wayyyyy after Raine's assumedly captured by them. it's really good writing. (also Darius is Hunter's Dad™. i do and will not take criticism on this.)
btw don't even get me started on Raine istfg- they make me so incredibly happy. just. the fact that they're so badass and wonderful and Definitely not in love with Eda and their magic is so cool and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. seeing a canon nb character is something that gives me a lot of courage, just the way that everyone respects their pronouns and is totally chill about it makes me so incredibly happy (especially in the last few days. hah.) i need to see more of Raine, especially after that finale bc oh god what if they're dead or something?????? i'm so scared
aLSO ALSO!!!! the Collector is baby. i would adopt him (them?) in 2.0 seconds if i could. he deserves to be happy and have friends and not be betrayed by everyone who he helps. i honestly feel super bad for him, he's just a lil god kid who wants to play w ppl :((( why is everyone afraid of himmm
the season two finale killed me btw. i'm dead. deceased. writing this from my coffin. like wtf are they gonna do now that Raine (and everyone else) is dead/dying and Eda doesn't have an arm and the kids are both stuck in the human world and Extremely traumatized (looking at you Hunter) and King's stuck with the Collector (who he betrayed and who is probably not gonna be very happy about that)???? i'm going insane. legitimately when i finished i just kinda closed my computer and said "oh my god" out loud. i cannot handle this i'm so scared omg
that being said i really want to see the gang's reaction to the human world. i wanna see Gus obsessing over paperclips again :( i feel like there's so much potential for the gang to all be adopted by Luz's mom and i am HERE for it. Hunter needs a mom asap
ok. wow this got long-
i think i'm done for now sooo. yeah. thank you so much for letting me do this anon hfdfghjhgfdsdfg i literally love you (/p)

Hey so this thought has been on my mind for like ages and I think that you'd be able to write a headcanon about it in a wonderful way, so I'm presenting this idea to you hehe ( I love ur blog so so so much btw!)
So let's say that whatever miracles of seven happened, that Yuu overblots. Being constantly pushed around by other students by being magicless, solving the idiot trio's problems, trying to survive overblots and dealing with Crowley's neglectful ass cheeks sure is not easy. With all the piled and bottled up negative emotions, Yuu like the previous boys, overblots. Yuu wasn't that hard to defeat cuz you know, they're magicless, but the twst boys did struggle and Yuu's quite the challenge too. So what if, after Yuu's overblot, they had a full on mental breakdown. Not like crying mental breakdown, they're full on SCREAMING, their voice are cracking too, and very painful to hear. They started to unconsciously harm themselves so they have to be tied down to prevent to hurt themselves further. How would the dormleaders react to that?
(Sorry for my English and if I ever break a rule, it's OK if you decide to not do this too. Btw I got this idea when I watch ATLA aka Aang the last airbender, for reference of the breakdown of Yuu just search "Azula's breakdown" that practically how their breakdown looked like :D)
I cant write headcanons because you basically wrote everything. I will just make comments and additions to this. first I mention the background, secondly Azula’s breakdown so non ATLA watchers can understand a little and lastly, MC having breakdown like Azula. For the record, I could write about ATLA for pages since it is something I love since 2005. LOL This became a bit meta xd
You can join the discord server here 😉🤣
Firstly, the back ground:
I was 7 years old when ATLA started airing. I’d be excited to get back home to watch ATLA after school. Azula’s breakdown was awful back then when I first watch it as a kid. And of course, when they aired the episodes again and again. I rewatched again because I remembered the show being dope when I was in 12th grade which was stress relief while studying for university exams, and then I rewatched last year and even founded a Zutara server. Now I’m getting back to the point. In the last two rewatching, I saw Azula in a different light and her breakdown at the end of the show was understandable. I can recommend some ATLA meta that you might like.
Secondly, Azula’s breakdown:
Azula lost everything. In the flashbacks, you saw she was getting along with Zuko, laughing and playing tag until Ozai’s influence on her grew while Ursa showed more affection towards Zuko since Ozai basically hated Zuko. These two triggered each other and it grew like snowball effect which came to the point that Ozai-Azula and Ursa-Zuko. She didn’t get love from Ozai, she was just a puppet, someone to empower him more, not his daughter meanwhile to Ursa, she was a monster. Azula was 8 years old  Ursa disappeared. Imagine how this would affect the child. After this, she had estranged brother that she was jealous of because of Ursa’s love, a father who manipulated her, and an uncle who was too in pain to do anything and he was more focused on Zuko. She only had Mai and Ty Lee as “friends” but it was toxic and Azula used fear to control them. After Zuko got banished, Mai and Ty Lee went to their own places, leaving Azula alone with Ozai. Just when Zuko got back, she was being like the last times, cruel teasing, Mai and Ty Lee with her. Later, Zuko went away and probably got lectured by Ozai for her lie. Mai and Ty Lee stood against her. In the end, she had no one. Ozai didn’t want her with him either because he only wants power. Being alone drew her to the edge. In the Royal Hair Washing, the girl sje fired had her face. Her self hatred was palpable. She started to reflect this via Ursa, the mother who thought her as monster and didn’t love her like she did Zuko. I believe she would have had breakdown if she actually killed Zuko. At the end, she couldn’t handle it anymore. Being all alone, not being loved, self hatred and finally failing at something which is something she knows Ozai would never tolerate like he did with Zuko. This 14-year-old wouldn’t be able to handle it anymore and had breakdown.
Now last section, MC having breakdown like Azula’s:
Let’s see the things MC went through:
Stripped away from home
Doesn’t have much memory of it
Is thrusted into a world so foreign to them, where everything is foreign to them. There is no familiar thing that can make them recall home or feel at home
Is forced to study things that they have no prior info where the others have prior info and they are expected to ace the tests. This puts on pressure on regular students, can’t imagine the pressure they would feel since they barely understand the magic.
Is treated like trash by everyone at least once. From the first moment they came to Twisted Wonderland, they were like dirtbag. Dire gave them a house where they could get Hepatitis A to C, tetanus, hypothermia and any other disease. They have lived in that state for months and the house barely got fixed by the end of exams. They got belittled or used by almost all characters at least once. Examples: Vil calling them nobody; Azul trying to take the only thing they have from them, the dorm; Riddle calling them uneducated because not having magical parents; Leona acting like they are a toy in E2; Jamil literally manipulating their choice; sometimes NPC characters talked; Cater making them do his work etc.
They are given more than a person should handle. They are not certificated psychologist, they aren’t superhuman, they don’t have super healing... They are just human but has to fight enemies than can easily kill them if it were not the magic users around them. They are given the task of dealing with the emotional breakdown of the other people.
All of these are building up more and more. Maybe they started to get along with people after the belittlement and being used but every new character does this. At one point, it will be too much and they will think “they are only nice to me because I did a favor to them. If not for that, they wouldn’t be nice to me” which would lead to self doubt. When one starts doubting themselves, everything else starts to go down. Also, new characters treating them that way adds salt to the wound.
MC isn’t a professional psychologist. They can’t handle other people’s issues without taking a toll at themselves. They don’t even catch a break between everything.
Dire is deliberately keeping them away from home as they all do the errands he say. To him, what MC wants doesn’t matter much. The game doesn’t show but if MC has family and friends or pets, you can’t tell me that they wouldn’t miss them once or see, hug them or know their state, alive-dead, healthy-sick etc.
Lastly not being invincible. The end of Episode 5 shows this well. They couldn’t stand against Grim who isn’t as powerful as the other overblot characters. They are mortal who can get hurt easily.
Now all these build up meanwhile we don’t see an MC centered chapter, how they are etc. It’s all about the others. Maybe there were a few chapters asking if MC is okay after everything but it feels like it is in the second plan.
Everything that I mentioned can lead to a breakdown like Azula’s. Everything is just too much to handle and they don’t talk with a professional about it. When they finally let out everything, it feels much better, screaming out their lungs, lashing out like all of them did. They are finally letting out all of their emotions, crying and screaming; yet still feels better than bottling everything up. They think maybe that’s how overblot characters felt.
All in all, everyone in NRC needs a counselor.

Ok so let's talk about  the fruit tarts scene of nightmares and daydreams, or the most sugary interaction between Mai and Zuko.
Lots of people like to call Mai shallow for asking a desert, because “only a rich, spoiled and not-in-touch-with-reality person would ask for a tart” (1. Asking for a fruit tart to the crown prince is like dating the queen and asking for a single Oreo unit, so it’s -1000 greedy or as people say “materialistic” 2. Was she supposed to say I want for world peace? Like ugh total mood killer and unrealistic)
Mai goes for a very simple request, and its nice and cute and girly. Zuko love language is giving things like the weird stolen objects for Iroh, the time he made his uncle tea and the time he tried to give Mai a seashell (BTW, both hate seashells, another soulmate thing) and also he is so excited to show off in front of her, like any person would like to do in front of the SO.
> Imagine you get a new set of paints with new colors that you absolutely love and tell your partner “heeey babe what do you want me to draw for you” because you love that person and you want to give them something! You want to be able to produce something they will like and most important is something made by you. From you to them. Now, lets pretend they go “ooh nothing i love you” that would be crushing, are they rejecting your offer? Dont they want the things you give them? also bitch that is not what I asked you just pick something
> Or when you get your first pay and say to your mom “hey mom let me buy you somehting”, most of the time they go “oh no, i couldnt possible” wich we all hate, its an offering and ALSO we trust them not to pick something we are not able to provide. Your mom is not going to ask for a fucking yatch the same as your partner is not going to ask for you to paint the monalisa.
In both cases is not the thing that you are giving but more the feeling of being able to give them something. You are happy to give them something because you want to show that you appreciate them and because you're showing them love that way. AND they are happy to receive something from you because gifts make us happy and it’s cute to see us being proud of those things. Also, it reminds us that the person has put thought in us, and our happiness makes them happy too. It's a love circle and it's adorable for humans to do that.
So if Mai had said “no, I just want you” it would have been a rejection and then Zuko would haven been a scowling boy. Also, Zuko likes things being told clear to him, and Mai puts something simple that he can provide, and he is so proud to show off in front of her it's just adorable.
I just love that she chooses something girly, a fruity sweet thing ♥ Like she could have said a new knife or some shit like that but no, she went for the girly soft thing. It’s Mai showing her softer side with Zuko, opening to him, and I am drinking that by the gallon.
Also, you know what? THEY ARE GOING TO SHARE IT, Mai didn't ask for a fruit tart to eat it alone, she chose something for BOTH of them, where is she being selfish?
They are going to be fcking nerds and be all gooey and feed each other pieces of fruit tart and then even interlace arms and clean each other with a napkin and do other cute stuff because they are in love like that. Mai is going to go “open your mouth babe” and Zuko is going to blush so hard but still comply, and then they are going to stare into each other eyes for like a bazillions years. Mai  is already planning how to be even more sugared than Zuko, and she is winning.
TL;DR: No, Mai is not selfish or being shallow or  by asking for a fruit tart. Also, Zuko is like super happy to do that for her. And they are disgustingly in love. In conclusion, I hate my nerd parents

(Not So) Complicated — Zuko x Fem!Reader
Genre: angst/fluff
Warnings: none
Words: 2.6k
Summary: you and Zuko had eyes for each other, but Zuko was afraid you wouldn’t return his feelings because of his identity. One day, you ask him on a date.
A/N: this is my contribution to @fromthewatertribe‘s 1k event! I used prompt #23: “I really like having you around.” It was heavily inspired by the date Zuko had with Jin. I didn’t intend for it to be so long, but alas...this always happens whenever I write anything. This is my first fic btw, please go easy on me. Enjoy! :)

The boy noticed. He noticed the girl who always sat in the corner coming in more often. He attributed it to becoming more familiar with frequent customers, but that wasn’t entirely true. How could he not notice her? She was pretty and kind. He wanted to asked her out, but he was afraid to. He wondered how she would react to his true identity.
A banished Fire Nation prince who spent years searching and hunting down the avatar only to become wanted by his country…that’s who he was. She would hate him, turn him into the Dai Li if she found out. It would be too risky, he decided. And so, he pushed his feelings away to focus on his new job: making tea.
“Zuko,” whispered the boy’s uncle.
“What?”
“She’s here!”
Zuko furrowed his eyebrows. “Who?”
“That girl!”
Zuko finished wiping the teapot before turning around. And there she was: the girl who always sat in the corner, who was, of course, sitting at the table in the corner.
“You should take her order, and...maybe have a little chit chat,” uncle Iroh said, nudging Zuko with his elbow.
“Ugh, no,” Zuko grumbled, “I’m not flirting with a customer, uncle.”
“Oh, come on. I see the way you look at her. I also see the way she looks at you.” Uncle Iroh turned to face him. “I think it’s mutual,” he said, bouncing his eyebrows up and down.
“Tch, you’re ridiculous. I’ll take her order, but that’s it!” Zuko hissed.
Secretly, Zuko was a happy to take her order. Another secret was that Zuko didn’t need to take her order. He had it memorized. The girl always ordered a cup of ginger tea. As much as he ignored his feelings, he had to admit that he still enjoyed seeing her.
Zuko grabbed a pad of paper and pencil, though he didn’t need it, and walked up to the girl. “Hello, how can I help you today?”
She looked at him and smiled sweetly. “Hi! Can I have ginger tea?” she asked.
He nodded. “Sure, I’ll bring it to you in a moment,” said Zuko as he (unnecessarily) noted her order. Ignoring the smirk on uncle Iroh’s face, he brewed a pot of ginger tea, poured it into a simple, clay cup, and returned to the girl.
“Here you go,” he said, offering the warm cup. The girl thanked him, took the cup and handed him several coins in exchange. Just as he was about to leave, she asked, “what’s your name?”
Zuko was a little surprised. They never talked beyond greeting each other and ordering tea. It seemed out of the blue, but, then again, it was just a simple question. It didn’t really mean anything, right?
“My name? It’s, uh, Lee,” he replied, giving her his fake name.
Finally, she could put a name to his handsome face. After frequenting the tea shop almost daily for the past couple weeks, the girl thought it was about time she learned his name and introduced herself. “Nice to meet you, Lee. My name is [y/n].”
“Nice to meet you too, [y/n].”
[Y/n] also thought it was about time she made a move. “I know we’ve only just introduced ourselves,” she began, her fingers anxiously tracing the rim of the cup, “but I was wondering if, maybe, you’d like to go out sometime?”
Zuko was very surprised now. Maybe his uncle was right; the feelings were mutual. Still, things were complicated. He was a Fire Nation prince; she was an Earth Kingdom commoner. There was no way [y/n] would be okay with who he was really was: an enemy. But as risky as it would be, he couldn’t say no. He couldn’t break her heart. That would be harsh, he thought, but it would only be one date, one night out…how bad could it be?
“My nephew would love too!”
Zuko snapped back to reality. He didn’t realize it, but he had been standing there, staring at her in shock for quite some time. Uncle Iroh patted him on the back as if to say “you’re welcome.” Zuko looked at his uncle and internally thanked him.
“Uh, yes, sorry about that, yes, I would like to,” Zuko blurted with a blush forming across his cheeks. It made [y/n] giggled.
“Great! I’ll meet you outside the shop at sunset tonight,” she cheered.
Tumblr media
[Y/n] was so excited for her date. She spent all afternoon getting ready. After going through her entire closet, she decided on a long, jade green dress with long sleeves. Then, she spent the rest of her free time doing her hair and makeup. Her heart pounded as she made her way to the tea shop. When she rounded the corner, she saw him waiting outside.
“Lee!” she shouted as she jogged up to him. He was wearing a dark green tunic over an olive green shirt and pants. “It’s weird not seeing you in your uniform, but you look great,” she grinned.
Zuko blushed. “Thanks. Um, you look nice too,” he stuttered, scratching the back of his neck. As much as he wanted to tell her that she looked absolutely beautiful, he didn’t want to come off too strong. This was supposed to be a one-time thing, and then he would come up with some excuse to not go out again and forget about his crush.
“Thanks. Come on, let’s get some food,” said [y/n] eagerly. She clutched his hand and led him to one of her favorite restaurants.
Dinner wasn’t too awkward, but it could’ve been better. [Y/n] tried to make conversation, but the two didn’t go beyond small talk. Zuko just didn’t want to talk much, not because he was shy, but because he didn’t enjoy lying about himself, especially to the girl he liked, and feared he might give himself away. Unfortunately, he was not as good of a liar as his sister. Silence was his friend tonight. Despite that, [y/n] was determined to have a good time with him.
“I want to show you one of my favorite places in the city. Come on!” [y/n] said, grabbing his hand. She ran down the empty, cobblestone street, dragging Zuko behind. The street opened up to a large intersection with a stone fountain in the center covered and surrounded by paper lanterns. However, none of the lanterns were lit. [Y/n] frowned. This date was not going well at all.
“I can’t believe it. The lanterns aren’t lit tonight! It’s always so beautiful when they are...” said [y/n] cheerlessly. She looked away from Zuko to hide her watering eyes.
Zuko felt bad. It was his fault that dinner was so awkward, but it was too late to do anything about that now. This, however, was something he could fix. It would be so easy, yet so dangerous. Zuko would be risking everything, but it would be worth making [y/n] happy. Maybe if I’m quick, no one will notice…but what would she think? He pondered for a moment. Then, he decided.
“Close your eyes,” he told [y/n], “and don’t peak!”
[Y/n] did as he said. She closed her eyes and covered them with her hands. Zuko looked around. The area was empty; no one was around. Quickly, he got into a firebending stance and flicked his hands in all directions, aiming small blasts of fire at each of the lanterns. Soon, the soft, golden light from the flames of the lanterns illuminated the space. Water flowing in the fountain appeared to glow and sparkle. It really was beautiful just as [y/n] said it would be.
“Okay, you can open your eyes now,” said Zuko. And [y/n] did. Her jaw dropped at the sight.
“Wow,” [y/n] said in awe. The fountain looked exactly like it always did when it was lit up, but it never ceased to amaze her. But something wasn’t quite right. “I don’t understand. What happened? How did…” she trailed off, turning to look at Zuko. He gave her a small, nervous smile for an answer. [Y/n] decided not to push it. She knew. There was no other possible explanation.
And she was okay with it, but Zuko wouldn’t know it, because what Zuko didn’t know was that [y/n] was unlike most Earth Kingdom citizens. She never immediately hated someone for being a firebender. Her parents taught her that there are good people and bad people everywhere—even in her home town—and that everyone is capable of change—even our enemies. So, she was determined to prove to him that she was okay with who he was.
Gently, [y/n] moved her hands to take his. They were sweaty, he was obviously nervous, but she didn’t mind. Facing each other, the two locked eyes.
“Now, it’s your turn to close your eyes,” said [y/n].
Zuko did as she said. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever was to come. To be honest, he wasn’t sure what it would be. A kiss? A slap to face? He wasn’t sure which one he was more afraid of. His eyelids twitched from the anticipation.
Slowly, [y/n] stood on her toes and leaned in to softly press her lips to his. Zuko impulsively reciprocated, but only for a moment. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he realized what was happening, and he pushed himself away from her. [Y/n] was startled and confused. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
Zuko paused and looked at the ground in shame. “It’s complicated,” was the only answer he could give her. “I have to go.”
“Wait!” shouted [y/n], grabbing his wrist. “Just tell me. Why is it complicated?”
Zuko didn’t know how to respond. How was he supposed to explain that he was the crowned prince of the Fire Nation, and that he had been banished for years, and that he had been tasked with capturing the avatar, and that he had become wanted, and that he had a huge crush on her, and that she deserved someone better? He didn’t know. Again, he looked at the ground in shame.
“It’s because you’re a firebender, isn’t it?”
Zuko’s snapped his head up in shock. Not necessarily because she figured it out, but because she said it out loud and so plainly. It was a genuine question. He sensed no anger, no fear.
[Y/n] chuckled when he didn’t respond. “Oh, come on, Lee. Those lanterns didn’t light themselves. It’s okay. I’m not afraid of who you are.”
“You’re not?” he asked in disbelief.
[Y/n] shook her head and clasped his hand with hers. “I’m not. Come sit with me.” She led Zuko to the edge of the fountain. Zuko was hesitant, but followed and sat next to her. [Y/n] wanted to be someone he could trust. She wanted Zuko to feel comfortable with her. There was no doubt in her mind that being a firebender in Ba Sing Se made making friends difficult, let alone going on dates.
“There are good people in the Fire Nation. I know it. Just like how there are bad people in the Earth Kingdom. Maybe not as many or as bad, but still…it’s like what my parents used to tell me: there’s good and bad in every person, every group and every nation.”
She sounded like his uncle, and Zuko found it endearing. He also appreciated the fact that she was being so kind and optimistic, but he had to be honest with her. “Well, I’m not a very good person. I’ve actually done some pretty bad things…” he mumbled.
Despite his confession, [y/n] wasn’t scared. Zuko had many chances to hurt her on their date, and he never did. “So why are you here then? Why aren’t you living in the Fire Nation? Why aren’t you burning down villages or attacking people? Why did you come to Ba Sing Se?” she asked persistently.
Zuko thought for a moment. He thought about telling her everything, but it was one thing to be just another enemy and another to be the son of the Firelord. It would be too much for her to handle.
“It’s complicated,” he said, looking at the ground yet again.
“Was it to run away? To have a fresh start?”
“In a way...yes,” Zuko replied.
“Good. There’s no better place to change yourself than here! It’s safe and full of opportunities. Though, it must be hard not being able to be ‘yourself,’ if you know what I mean,” said [y/n].
Zuko sighed and nodded his head in agreement. “It sucks, but it’s not nearly as bad as what others have to experience because of my people.”
“I’m glad you recognize that.”
“How can I not? I feel ashamed of who I am…”
“Don’t be.” Zuko turned to [y/n], curious as to why he shouldn’t be. Any other Earth Kingdom citizen would’ve hissed at him and called him an ash-maker. [Y/n] continued, “we can’t choose where we come from. But every day we have an opportunity to be a better person!”
It was probably another proverb her parents told her, and it was just what he needed to hear. Zuko smiled. For once in his life, he felt okay with his identity. He felt at peace. “You’re right. Thanks,” he said gratefully.
“Of course!” [y/n] cheered. “It’s getting late now. We should go home.”
The two walked hand in hand to [y/n]’s apartment. Neither of them said anything on the way. They didn’t need to. They had done enough talking for tonight and just wanted to enjoy being together.
“I had a good time tonight, even if things got a little…awkward. Um, do you think we could do this again?” asked Zuko, scratching the back of his neck.
[Y/n] beamed. “I’d love to!”
“Really? I mean, great! How about...this weekend?”
[Y/n] nodded, “sure!”
“And please feel free to stop by the tea shop,” Zuko begged, a blush dusting his cheeks. “I really like having you around.”
[Y/n] felt her heart flutter. He didn’t have to tell her to stop by, she already planned on it, but hearing him say that filled her with joy. “I will,” she promised, “good night, Lee!”
“Good night, [y/n]. Oh, by the way, Lee isn’t my real name,” Zuko said, leaning in to whisper in her ear, “it’s Zuko.”
[Y/n] gently cupped his cheek. “Your secret is safe with me, Zuko,” she whispered back reassuringly. She softly pecked his cheek before walking into her apartment. All the while, Zuko watched her, the girl who always sat in the corner, completely lovestruck.
Tumblr media
Back at Zuko’s apartment, uncle Iroh was tidying up the place, when Zuko walked in.
“You’re back! How was your date?” his uncle asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Um, it was nice. We’re going out again this weeken—”
“Oh, I’m so happy for you!” his uncle exclaimed, leaping to Zuko and embracing him tightly. “I never thought I’d see the day my dearest nephew would have a lady friend! Tell me about her. Have you kissed yet? When are you inviting her over for dinner? Did you confess your feelings for her?”
“Okay, uncle, that’s enough!”

Omg!! My first Sokka request!!! Thank you so much for requesting and for your nice words! 😊 I hope you like it!
A/N: Reader is an earthbender but I just couldn't put any situation that involved bending or fighting.
•••
Trying Again (Sokka x Beifong!Reader)
Warnings: mentions of death.
Genre: Angst, a bit of fluff.
Fandom: Avatar, The Last Airbender.
Summary: Reader has had her heart broken before and is scared to fall in love again.
Word Count: 2097
Your life changed completely the moment you and your sister decided to join the Avatar. You knew your sister was meant to do great things and the fact that she wanted you by her side filled you with joy; and this was also a great opportunity for you to finally try to let go of your past, but it would obviously take time.
To say that you'd had your heart broken before was an understatement, and you didn't want to go through all that hurt again. So even though you liked Sokka, you promised yourself that nothing would happen between the two of you.
The boy, on the other hand, tried from the very beginning to get closer to you. So at first, you were just some really close friends, you complemented each other perfectly. And that was all you were for a while, best friends who were always there when the other needed it, but soon it was evident that you were starting to develop feelings for each other.
When you realized, you nearly panicked, and your first reaction was to try to put some distance between you two. Of course, it didn't really work. You hated to admit it, but he had become a really important part of your life, and the thought of not being by his side, or hearing his laugh, or feeling his arms around you whenever you felt sad, was just too much for you. So you decided to just constantly remind yourself that you were just friends while still spending almost every waking moment with him.
This went on for months, and you even thought that you liking Sokka was just in the past, some silly crush that ended up fading away. But it was the little things that showed you that he was more than just some crush. The first time you saw him in his Fire Nation clothes, you couldn't help but think that he looked really cute; you didn't pay much attention to it, though. However, when you were forced to spend time without Sokka since he was with his master, you realized that you didn't just like him, but that possibly, you were even in love with him. That was when you decided that it was enough, that no matter how much it hurt you, you just couldn't let yourself go through all the pain you'd experienced in the past.
So you started avoiding him. Of course, your behavior didn't go unnoticed, but whenever he tried to talk to you about it, you just changed the subject. But on the day of the invasion, you almost confessed your feelings. It was just a difficult situation and the thought of possibly losing not only him but also the rest of your friends really frightened you. Even though you didn't actually say anything about your feelings, you did let your guard down a bit, and Sokka thought that maybe whatever had made you act so different around him was gone, but he was wrong. When you got to the Western Air Temple, everything remained the same between you two.
He truly began thinking if he had done something wrong, and he began asking for advice from everyone, even Zuko once he joined you. Everyone said different things, but they all seemed to agree on something: he had to talk to you. The question now was how? How would he talk to you if you didn't even look at him? He still tried, though. He tried to catch you by yourself so you wouldn't have any chance to avoid him, and sadly for you, he succeeded.
You were washing your clothes with Katara when she went to her room to look for something. That's when her brother showed up and it was impossible for you to run away.
"Can we finally talk, (Y/N)?" He asked as he kneeled next to you.
"I don't see why we should," you answered without looking at him.
"Are you kidding me? You've been avoiding me for, like, weeks!" He sounded desperate, even you were aware of that, and for a moment it made you feel bad, but you quickly brushed that thought away. "On the day of the invasion I finally thought that we would go back to the way we used to be, but things got even worse. What happened, (Y/N)?"
"What happened before the invasion was a mistake," you explained. "We were practically between life and death, and whatever I said wasn't true."
"(Y/N), but-."
"But what, Sokka? What do you want me to say?" You snapped. "You want me to say that I'm sorry? Well, the only thing I'm sorry for is becoming friends with you," you regretted your words as soon as they left your mouth, but at the same time, there was a bit of truth in them. If you hadn't become friends with Sokka, you wouldn't have fallen in love with him, and none of this would be happening. He looked at you with a sad expression on his face, and he got up.
"I can tell something's wrong and that something's hurting you, but I don't think is fair to avoid me like that," he began walking away but stopped for a moment to look at you again. "I just hope we can fix things between us, (Y/N)," he said loud enough for you to hear him. He finally left and you let your tears fall from your eyes, you never thought that while trying to protect your own heart, you would end up breaking it more.
Right after Sokka left, you heard some footsteps behind you.
"I don't know who you are but, please, leave," you asked whilst in tears. You realized that they had paid no attention to you and approached you anyways.
"What's wrong, (Y/N)?" You heard your sister ask.
"Toph!" You exclaimed, surprised, trying to get rid of your tears. "What do you mean? Nothing's wrong!"
"You were crying," she said. "And in case you forgot, I can also tell you're lying." She sat by your side, where Sokka was just a few moments ago. "I'm not leaving until you tell me."
"It's nothing, Toph, really. You don't have to worry about me."
"(Y/N), you're my sister, of course I worry about you," she placed a hand on your shoulder. "Now, who do I have to fight?" You let out a soft giggle right before feeling tears in your eyes once again.
"You should fight me because I keep messing everything up," you mumbled.
"Let me guess, is this about Sokka?" You looked at her with surprise in your eyes. "I don't know why you're so surprised, you seem to forget I know you like the palm of my hand."
"Then you already know this is about him."
"What's about who?" You heard Katara ask a few meters away from you. When she was close enough, she saw that you'd been crying and suddenly everything made sense to her. "Oh, you've already talked to Sokka, haven't you?" You looked at her completely confused as to how she knew you'd talked to him. "He told me to leave you alone for a few minutes, he wanted to talk to you."
"Yeah, well, we talked."
"I'm assuming things didn't go very well," she commented. "What happened?"
"We fought, okay?" You yelled. "And I totally ruined everything."
"What are you talking about?" Katara questioned as she sat on the floor.
"I basically said that I hoped I'd never met him, and I hate myself for it."
"But why? What happened? I thought it was pretty obvious that you liked him!"
"Toph!" You desperately looked at Katara and she slowly waved her hand.
"It's okay, I already knew," she said. "We all did."
You groaned in frustration and lay on your back. "I just don't want to get hurt again," you mumbled.
"(Y/N), I know you're scared, but you can't live in constant fear," said Katara in a comforting way. "I don't know what happened to you in the past, but you can't avoid love forever, it will only end up hurting you more."
"She's right, (Y/N), and you know it," mentioned your sister. It was true, you knew Katara was right, but you didn't know if you were brave enough to face your fear.
A few days went by and everyone could tell there was a lot of tension in the air, but no one said anything. Sokka didn't even look at you anymore, and you thought that maybe he already hated you. You'd had trouble sleeping the last few nights, and you knew that today would be no different. You had already finished dinner and were walking towards your room. You lay down and tried to sleep. You managed to, finally, but you woke up thanks to a nightmare. You stayed there for a while, thinking about the mess you'd got yourself into. Since there was no way for you to go back to sleep, you got up while letting out a groan and decided to just walk around for a bit.
You were a bit surprised when you realized that the fire was still shining bright and you saw someone sitting next to it.
"I know you're there, (Y/N)." Sokka's voice scared you and you cleared your throat before speaking.
"I was just leaving, don't worry."
"Wait, stay here," his voice was calm, and the only reason you heard him was because it was just the two of you. He got up to look at you, you walked up to him, and stood next to him.
"How did you know it was me?" You whispered.
"Who else would be awake in the middle of the night?" He questioned. "I also saw your shadow."
"I thought you hated me, why do you want me here?"
"Well, I'm not your biggest fan right now, but I could never hate you. And to be honest, I miss your company."
There was a brief silence between you, and you couldn't help but feel guilty about what you'd said the other day.
"I miss you too, Sokka, and I know I'm a jerk, but I just want you to know that I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I forgive you," he said.
"How could you forgive me so easily? I truly don't deserve you," you whispered.
"Because, as I said, I know you're hurting. I don't know why, but I know you well enough to see that you're not okay," he looked at you with a sweet and sad expression in his eyes.
"Could you hug me, please?" You started crying as soon as you said that, and you buried your face in his chest. "I don't want to get hurt again, Sokka."
"What do you mean, (Y/N)?"
"I fell in love once and it didn't end well, so that's why I started avoiding you, but I realized that my own actions were hurting me too."
"Hey, look at me," you pulled away a bit and he cupped your face with one of his hands while he placed the other on one of your shoulders. "I would never do anything to hurt you, (Y/N)."
"How can you be so sure about that? How do you know we wouldn't hurt each other?"
"I can't, (Y/N), the future is uncertain. But if there's one thing I'm sure of is that I love you and that I don't want to be away from you anymore."
"I really want to be with you, Sokka, but I feel like there's a battle between my heart and my brain. I'm scared," you admitted.
"I'm scared, too, (Y/N), but we'll never know what could happen if we don't try." You placed your hand above the one he had on your face and you finally looked at him in the eye. You didn't want to live controlled by fear anymore, and you realized that what he said was true.
"I love you, too, Sokka," you whispered. You put one of your hands on his face, cupping his cheek. You two got closer together and finally, you felt your lips against his. Your other hand went to the other side of his face and his arms wrapped around your waist. You two pulled away and placed your foreheads together.
"I promise I'll do my best to make you happy," he mumbled.
"Me, too, Sokka," you hugged again and stayed there for a while, never wanting let go of each other, hoping that moment could last forever.

12, 15, and 18? <3
12: a character that i love that's underappreciated
i already answered this one here, but i tend to attach to underappreciated characters oops so imma make a big claim here... but... camicazi from the httyd books... yes the books... actually, anyone from the httyd books but imma say camicazi and... no camicazi AND fishlegs.
the movies did them SO DIRTY first of all, they replaced camicazi--my favorite httyd character btw--with astr*d which is a sin in itself, and then they literally change like. everything about fishlegs??? fishlegs is actually an unhealthily skinny kid with curly black hair, glasses, pretty bad asthma, super bad allergies, and essentially the viking diagnosis of bipolar. he is like. Incredible representation !!! plus, he's hiccup's best friend above all others in the books and he is like super freaking important and they like never make him less than or poke fun at him due to any of his stuff (except like. the abelist vikings but they are made to be in the wrong), and he is still completely capable. he's scared, but he's brave and is willing to do anything for his friends. he's compassionate and clever and one of the more logical thinkers in the series. he actually thinks about the consequences before he does things !!!
then camicazi... my absolute beloved... oh how i adore she... she is super small. like. under four feet. yeah, she'll probably grow a little bit since she's pretty young but Still ! she defies female stereotypes, is the most skilled fighter in the main trio, is terrifying, fierce, can and will rob anyone she feels like for funsies, angry, loyal to a fault, willing to die for her friends without second thought, stupidly brave, and always tells hiccup and fishlegs "hey, you're not bad, for boys of course" or "you're a pretty good fighter, for boys of course" she is incredible, my childhood hero, and she is So underappreciated.
15: a character i'd throw hands with
hahn. hahn avatar. i have written two fics where i have had him punched in the face (zuko & jet) and i feel like he deserves it. he freaking Sucks, my dudes. will fight him. mean to my two favorite atla characters nope nope nope. also, i am more than willing to hate him than have people hate jet.
18: a character i'd be roommates with
okay so like... mai atla definitely and is that because grace and i are roommates?... no one needs to know.
but, uh, aside from the obvious, hmmmmmm, my gut is telling vanessa from the hollow and while i don't always trust my gut, i trust vanessa and i love vanessa and you know what??? i named my favorite stuffed pig vanessa after her so yes. i want to be roommates with vanessa the hollow send tweet <3

ATLA Q&A
Thanks to @ohmygodtheywereparabatai for tagging me!
Btw, this is the first time someone tagged me for this kind of things and im so scared lmao so I’ll try my best!
General questions:
1. What’s your favorite character?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhao, Lin, Kuvira, Tarrlok
Guess my type 👉👈
2. What’s your comfort character?
ZHAO, and I don’t know why. He’s just so powerful and so intelligent; I want him to protect me and spoil me, but also I want him to know that he’s really important to someone me and that i’ll literally would die for him. I want to hug him, feel how he’s startled at first, but then give up and hug me back.
Please help me.
3. Which element would you bend if you could chose?
In every quiz that I took, I’m a fire bender, but I really want to be an earth bender, and metal bender if that’s possible.
4. What’s your favorite nation?
Each nation has it’s unique things, so it’s really hard to choose one. I’ll choose Earth Kingdom here since it’s lively and pretty well-balanced (not too icy, not too dark, not too high)
5. What makes you love ATLA the most?
Actually, ATLA it’s not part of my childhood (I didn’t have nickelodeon when i was a kid!), but I started to use socialmedia, and got into fandoms, specially in tumblr, I saw many people talking about Avatar. I knew about this cartoon, but I didn’t really care because I thought “Meh, it’s just a gringada”. So when I started to watch it, I had really low expectations, but with only the first episode, I was going crazy.
Not just because of the animation (specially in the fights!), the first thing that really atracted me, but also all the cultural inspirations packed up without forcing it, without wanting to look “inclusive”.
In ATLA, I didn’t really pay attention to the story, but in TLOK... Boi, it’s just too beautiful. The story, the philosophy.*insert Pacha meme.png*
Could get you attacked questions:
1. What’s your least favorite character from the gaang?
KA TA RA
Actually it’s my least favorite character or ATLA. Why? Because she’s annoying. I know that she’s talented, intelligent, caring, brave and did a great job as the mom of the gaang, and I really understand that she, in fact, it’s a kid; but yeah, I consider her as annoying somethimes.
2. What character you think it’s severely underrated?
I won’t say that they are underrated, but I want to know more about the back stories of villains like Long Feng or Zhao of course. Also I would love to know more about the Bumis (king Bumi and Aang’s Son)
3. What’s your least favorite nation?
Wow, I just don’t know! Maybe by discard would be fire nation, but there’s no reason.
4. What’s your controversial ATLA opinion?
Well, I already told something controversial here in this post, and there’s another in the shipping questions 🙊
Shipping questions:
1. What’s your favorite ship and why?
I’m not really into shipping in ATLA, not because I don’t like it, but because I wasn’t interested. But if I have to choose, it would be Sukka, and from TLOK, KyaLin and Zhurrick
2. What’s your least favorite ship and why?
Maiko and Zutara, because these three characters has too much similarities (Mai And Zuko equally hate the world, and Katara and Zuko have family issues that can’t overcome), and I don’t like to ship characters that are too similar.
3. Do you sometimes self-insert?
You mean, always - Yes.
4. What’s your crack ship?
As I already said, I’m not really into shipping in ATLA, but sometimes I wonder if Long Feng with Katara or with Toph, and Korra and Kuvira would be interesting. Oohh and what about Tenzin with Tarrlock? Or Iroh II with Korra? Or Tahno with Korra?? Also, I support Korrlock
5. Which non canon ship would you make happen if you were the creator?
Dude, JINKO or Song with Zuko!
...
I had a lot of fun answering these questions, and since I don't really talk with people here, I invite anyone who sees this to take this q&a 💕

i like it. i do. i think that if its well written and actually acknowledges how problematic azula and ty lees friendship was in the show and actively works to overcome that and grow from that then i enjoy it. but if its just written as a toxic ship or doesnt address all the shitty things azula did then its a no from me. i dont like toxic ships and in canon their friendship is INCREDIBLY toxic and while i love azula, in order for me to like a fic with azula in it and shes being portrayed as a “good guy” then youve gotta acknowledge what she did to make her evil in the first place. i hate when people gloss over the fact that she was an imperialist and was super manipulative towards people who were supposed to be her friends. in canon she was a horrible person and yes she was abused and yes she was just a kid and yes she did not deserve to be abused but that doesnt change the fact that she was still not a good person. i feel like theres a good amount of tyzula content out there that does an incredible job of addressing this and making sure they craft a good redemption arc for azula and depicts the relationship in a healthy way. other than that ive never had any issues with tyzula shippers and i do say that i ship them myself. ive hardly heard about any drama among peoppe who say tyzula is their otp and ship it hardcore (i have heard some toxic stuff tho so it isnt perfect but its also very rare for that kinda stuff to pop up on my dash) so at least from my understanding its a good fanbase a majority of the time. on a much more positive note i really enjoy their dynamic. i like how azula can be rough around the edges and very regal and proper and still bitchy and then ty lee is there to be bubbly and creative and bring joy into azulas life. i think they balance each other out well and in canon we can see very clearly how much they admire each other (despite the toxicity in canon). azula wishes she were more like ty lee and ty lee thinks azula is amazing and gorgeous. i think theyre a good pairing when done correctly.
zukka.
MY LOVES. i adore zukka. i think they have so many parallels in canon such as being over shadowed by their prodigy younger sisters, their insecurities, their profficiency in weaponry, their anxiety about following in their fathers footsteps (in diff ways obviously). i think their personalities mesh well together. dramatic dickhead zuko. genius snarky bastard sokka. i love them. and the content we get from zukka creators is SO GOOD. the art the fics everything. i love it so much. i personally relate very much to zuko in the sense that he has lots of anger and is dramatic and i relate to sokka a lot too in the semse that im sarcastic and smart and hide my emotions a lot and sometimes feel second best to my friends. i see myself in both of them and when i see them together being happy it makes me feel happy.
zukka fans on the other hand. there are good zukka fans out there. there are wonderful funny amazing zukka fans out there. but holy fuck the number of zukkas out there who conpletely fetishize the ship and strip away all of their character traits so they can make them into a weak little baby boy zuko and a suave macho man sokka (which btw are both racist characatures. if you havent seen all the poc on this app who have called these characterizations out then please please please reevaluate how ur interacting w zukka because not only is it so out of characfer for both of them. it is literally racist). and while there are so many good fics and fanarts for zukka, there is an OVERWHELMINGS number of racist, transphobic, biphobic, homophobic, and all around problematic content everywhere. and some fans are so toxic that it makes me rlly dislike being a zukka sometimes. i will always love the ship but sometimes i feel a little embarassed to be associated with it. i know that i do my best to stay far away from the toxic fans but it gets so frustrating sometimes. i know not every zukka is like this, literally all of my zukka mutuals are wonderful and amazing. but the amount of toxic fans is turning so many people off of the ship and causing people who genuinely enjoyed it to be turned off by it and its giving the good zukkas a bad name. im very upset by the reputation zukka fans have gained on this website from the toxic fans who antagonize other ships (primarily zks. i love zk. just because zks ship zuko with katara doesnt mean that its awful. toxic zukkas plz leave zks alone. so many of them are so nice. i know theres always toxic fans in every fandom and for every ship but like,,, its just so much easier to stay in ur own lane yk?). with that being said i love zukka as a ship but the fans have made it hard for many people to enjoy so sometimes its frustrating. but i love zukka. i think they are a wonderful ship and they are my favorite one in atla.

anon:  Katara x f reader fluff?
pairings: katara x f!reader
warnings: mentions of blood and reader has a wound, but other than that it ends in fluff
a/n: thank you SO MUCH ANON for a katara ask i was planning on writing her and this ask just make me so happy! this takes place after the gaang leaves omashu the second time right before they get to the swamp btw. i hope you enjoy it!!
Tumblr media
Y/N sighed as she leaned back into Appa’s saddle while Katara led the sky bison higher into the sky.
“I’m sorry Bumi couldn’t come with us Aang,” she said as the young airbender sat with his arms crossed. He looked down in his lap, sighing.
“It’s okay,” Aang said. “I just hope he’ll be okay.” He turned to look back at Omashu as they flew further away from the city.
“Oh, he will be,” Sokka said. “He may seem crazy but the guy knows what he’s doing. Let’s just hope we can find you an earthbending teacher soon.” Sokka leaned onto Y/N’s arm and shut his eyes. Y/N winced in pain, causing the Water Tribe boy to quickly sit up.
“Oops,” Y/N said as she looked down at her arm. Blood stained her sleeve and a giant gash could be seen from the rips in the sleeve. Sokka’s eyes widened.
“Y/N how did this happen?!” He shouted. “And did you get blood on me?!” Sokka checked to make sure blood didn’t get on him and sighed in relief.
“I guess the girl with the knives got me, but I just didn’t notice.” Y/N said shrugging. “Don’t tell Katara though, it’s fine. I don’t want her to worry about me.”
Since she joined the group, Y/N was always known to be a bit reckless at times. They had found her when she helped them steal the waterbending scroll and run from the pirates and Zuko. Whenever the group got a break to spend time as kids, Y/N was always doing some risky stunt like jumping off waterfalls or climbing giant cliff sides. Katara was the one who worried the most, especially since most of the time, it would result in Y/N injuring herself. Y/N didn’t mind getting injured doing silly things, but she didn’t want Katara to worry about her getting injured during a battle.
“Y/N, you’re clearly bleeding a lot,” Aang said as he observed the giant cut on Y/N’s arm. “I’ll tell Katara to land and she can heal you.” Before she could get a word out, Aang had already told Katara to land. Once they reached the surface, Katara quickly jumped to Y/N and grabbed her arm.
“Y/N what did you do this time?!” She said as she looked at the bloody arm. Katara lightly ran her fingers over the sleeve while Y/N tried to hide her wince.
“Nothing bad, it must’ve happened when Sokka and I were trying to keep the baby safe.” Y/N said, pulling her arm back from Katara’s grasp. “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry.”
“How can I not worry?!” Katara shouted as she crossed her arms. “You’re always getting hurt, why can’t you be more careful?!” Katara took Y/N’s wrist and led her to a nearby river while Sokka and Aang unloaded Appa’s saddle for the night. When the two of them reached the river, Y/N pulled her wrist back from Katara and crossed her arms.
“Why are you getting so mad at me for this? I didn’t mean to get hurt.” Y/N said as she furrowed her brows.
“You never mean to get hurt, but you always do!” Katara said, sighing. “It’s just that,” Katara paused as she sat down at the edge of the river. Y/N sat next to her.
“What is it?” Y/N asked as she looked at Katara. Katara hesitated before speaking.
“I care about you a lot, Y/N. I just hate seeing you hurt or in pain.” Katara paused. “Ever since I met you I’ve always felt this care and love towards you. So whenever I see you hurt, it hurts me. Even if you do it out of pure recklessness. I just want you to take care of yourself.” Y/N took Katara’s hand and intertwined it with her own, causing Katara to look up at Y/N.
“Katara, I never meant to make you feel hurt.” Y/N started, “The first day you had healed me when we were leaving the Northern Water Tribe, the way you looked at me while you helped me. No one had ever cared about me that much. You made me feel so safe and special. You made me feel loved and cared for. Before that day, no one had ever really treated me that way.” Y/N broke her eye contact with Katara and looked down at the river.
“So sometimes when I did reckless stuff, it was just so you would give me that same care again. It felt nice, especially from you.” Y/N concluded, embarrassed. Katara laughed and turned Y/N’s face to face her.
“Y/N, I care about you outside of the times you’re hurt too. You don’t need to purposely get hurt.” Katara said as she tightened her grip on Y/N’s hand. “Please tell me you didn’t do this purposely.” Katara rolled Y/N’s sleeve up to get a better look at the injury.
“No, not this time.” Y/N said giggling. Katara bent some water from the river onto Y/N’s arm and began to mend the cut. As Katara silently healed the wound, Y/N couldn’t help but smile at her the whole time. Once the cut was healed Katara returned the water into the river and looked at Y/N.
“What?” Katara asked as she scrunched her nose at Y/N. Y/N put her arms around Katara and nuzzled her head in her neck.
“Thank you, for always caring.” Y/N said as Katara returned the embrace. Katara kissed the top of Y/N’s head and ran her hands lightly through Y/N’s hair.
“I will never stop caring about you, Y/N.” she replied. “So you don’t have to keep getting hurt for my attention.” Katara said, lightly hitting her non-injured arm. Y/N looked up at Katara.
“No, I'll still keep doing that, it gives us moments like this.” Y/N joked as she rested her head on Katara’s shoulder. The two laughed as Katara pulled Y/N closer to her. They sat in each other’s arms peacefully by the river.
thank you for reading!

BFH watches LoK Epi 5/S1
This episode recap is brought to you by Flameo Instant Noodles - the noodliest noodles in the United Republic!
Tumblr media
Okay so the Love Triangle/Diamond/Rhombus thing is in full swing. Sigh. Can Amon bust in already? Where my chi blockers at?
Tumblr media
I agree with Bolin.
Okay let’s get this out the way and btw I respect everyone’s right to ship and let ship, I hate fandom hate and ‘discourse’ so I won’t be debating people’s opinion here, this is just a little tongue in cheek hot take.
The thing is I actually still like love triangles and angst sometimes and I can really relate to a lot of this. I had crushes, I been both the friendzoner and and the friendzonee. I’ve even had the awful experience Bolin had of walking in to see my crush who’d expressed intense interest in me, in the arms of one of my friends (whilst surrounded by a lot of my other friends at a poetry retreat no less - it gets weirder don’t ask!)
Tumblr media
(Also hate how Bolin’s pain is played for laughs and feminised to underline this. I know he’s the Sokka of the group but this is an awful experience for anyone esp when it involves your brother!)
A lot of criticism has been thrown LoK and Bryke’s way about the romance and yes I can see why. I also know that this was aimed at teenagers and romance is that messy. It’s just...I still wish it had been done better. I especially wish that  -
a) Mako had been more mature about things
b) Korra hadn’t led Bolin on (easily done in that situation)
c) Korra hadn’t heard the fateful phrase ‘I’m confused’ and thought it was a green light for a Surprise Kiss TM (which is a trope that needs to die unless the couple is in a committed relationship), because Korra that worked so well when you were Aang (oh wait, yeah it did in the end didn’t it? Ugh.)
Tumblr media
TW for mentions of being pro-Zutara for anyone that needs it! (Again not an invitation to debate, just my opinion ^^)
I’m also going to get the fandom elephant out of the room that Makorra was supposedly written to be the sop to Zutara fans and shows why Zutara wouldn’t have worked because they would argue all the time. But the thing is Zutara and Makorra are very different ships with very different characters and build-up apart from being a waterbender girl with a firebender boy. But while I love Zutara and love the potential of Makorra, I really don’t like the immaturity and rushed advancement of Makorra at present. I would prefer if they were going to have it to go into the one-sided crush of Korra that then develops into mutual appreciation later. Also if Korra likes dark-haired firebenders then she needs to wait for General Iroh II to get on the scene cos daaaaaayum I’ve seen the cutscene of the rescue later on and he is literally Hotman Hot Stuff (what is with the level of attractive people in this show? Not that I’m complaining!)
Tumblr media
(He’s even doing the Zuko chin thing!)
My heart goes out to Bolin, I really want him to find someone who appreciates him, but having had friends like that crushing on me when I saw them as brothers it felt really uncomfortable to watch.
At least they were able to get over it and remain friends. Also Korra is now being friendly to Asami. I hated the advice you should ‘just go for it’ when your crush is in a relationship because it’s disrespectful to them and their partner. Friends all round for now - yey!
LOVED the Watertribe restaurant, reminded me of a beautiful local restaurant in Hokkaido with food I still dream about to this day. Also noodle appreciation! I haven’t felt this sated since my Naruto days ;)
Tumblr media
Also this guy - what’s with his face??? O_o
Tumblr media
Separated at birth?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love Korra’s reaction (private lessons indeed!) and her use of the Naga Attack TM. Tahno’s Glee style gesture to reject her and regain his street cred was hilarious!
Looking forward to getting back into the meaty political stuff next chapter. I wish they were exploring the worldbuilding element of discrimination of non-benders more so that Amon wasn’t just coming over as a power hungry populist in Dr Doom cosplay.

Send me a ship and I'll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on it: ZUKKA
OH i have some opinions on this. warning: this reply will be a mile long.
essentially: i do really like zukka and have a soft spot for it, i used to absolutely love it (it was my fave ship back when i first watched atla in 2016), but the revival of atla has complicated my feelings towards it & has made me realise how much fan discussion and culture shapes out understanding of television. I largely think it is very overrated now and the fandom frustrates me a lot even if it's still kind of dear to me?
like at core, i think one should approach zukka not like it was 'meant to be' or highly signalled by the narrative (it was not and never was, lol, let's be honest) but rather just an extrapolation & continuation of the great teamwork dynamic and friendship that zuko and sokka presented during the boiling rock episode. they set out with some of the most awkward small talk and struggled to communicate or bond (i.e. that's rough buddy) but in the midst of the action, affirmed, supported, and trusted each other repeatedly, and this culminated in how well they fought together against azula imo? by the time they left they were so much closer. tbh i think zuko is important to sokka, as zuko affirms sokka and doesn't see him like dead weight or unnecessary in the slightest and believes in him, but also zuko is emotionally forthright in a way that challenges sokka, who hides his insecurities and buries emotions deep with a bleak outlook, sarcastic humour and a focus on the plan, to be more forthright as well. i think sokka helps direct zuko from bad impulsive decisions without trying to stifle him either and clearly appreciates some of his more hare-brained creative solutions (e.g. breath of fire in the cooler) and doesn't dismiss him entirely as an idiot either. like their dynamic - friendship or romance - is very good imo from only that one episode
ideal zukka content is set in this liminal space between boiling rock and sozin's comet where it's about the two of them continuing to lean on and trust each other, open up about shared fears and experiences (both older brothers with chips on their shoulders and prodigy sisters who looked up to their very very different fathers) but also just be goofy boys together, who do stupid or impulsive things and just *act their age* as that is something neither sokka nor zuko, who both shoulder responsibilities and tasks beyond their years, get to do much. like something light, maybe a little fleeting, but means so much in that space, very much the sort of meaningful summer romance you might have as a teenager.
all that said:
for various reasons i'm now sure how it'd pan out long term? a lot of fandom content depicts them as meant-to-be and each other's whole world when like, there's clearly so many other priorities they have - both have a strong sense of duty by the end of the show and i really dislike it when sokka is depicted neglecting that to spend all his time hanging around zuko? like racism r.e. sokka also comes into play as people will devalue his friendships and family in the tribe for the sake of a romantic relationship (with the fire lord, of all people! the boy-king of the imperialist nation that once raided the water tribe so much that it was barely hanging by a thread!). like i don't mind reading fic that actually takes the time to explore that conflict of interest and those different goals and how to navigate having different priorities as an adult and the legacy of colonialism without totally handwaving it or dismissing it but a lot of content just ignores it for the sake of 'oh gay husbands' and it really does a disservice to the characters? realistically i think it would have to be long distance and even then i'm not sure if that's what either needs - and so I instinctively just don’t care for anything that ignores the real difficulties they’d face.
there's also issues with racism in how sokka is mischaracterised as stupid (he's not) or the more emotional one (really, did we watch the same show) or how he thinks zuko is just a million times out of his league (especially when this trope talks about zuko's silky hair or pale skin i absolutely want to scream), as well as fetishising art where he's often more nude that really can make some zukka circles really really uncomfortable? like imo some fans definitely treat zukka like the red boy/blue boy ship from v*ltron and either grossly simplify or flat out ignore characterisation for them to fit certain stock m/m fandom archetypes, and a lot of this is tied up with racist fetishisation of visibly brown characters and fandom racism too. and yeah there's some visual similarity there but zuko and sokka are a thousand times more fleshed out? please don't reduce them to that bullshit. very much feels like the rise of zukka is a product of how fandom culture nowadays prioritises m/m far more than it did 10 years ago but has not at all attempted to address racism, misogyny, ableism, any kind of structural power dynamics that shape modern american/western culture and fan discussions
also? quite honestly i'm of the opinion that people should *not* be writing explicit sexual content about aged-up teenagers in community spaces where there's *tonnes* of minors and yet there is a plethora of explicit zukka fic in this revival and it leads to people just casually remarking about sexual roles of teenage characters around fucking. 15 year old kids. and the total lack of responsibility or even willingness to question whether this is appropriate by adults in this community drives me up the fucking wall. (zukka isn’t unique in this regard btw other ships do this too but it's been a reason for my growing discomfort). obvs teenagers do talk about sex themselves but they should do that amongst themselves and not with adult strangers in the figurative room? ffs.
i think on a more minor note now there's almost an over-saturation of content in the atla fandom to the extent that its drowning out other, more meaningful discussions about the characters or their equally/more important platonic dynamics, and that's frustrating to engage with.
like in theory, done well, with a delicate hand that respects the strength of their characters and dynamic, it's an A+ ship, but the content the fandom produces is sometimes really horrible. In fairness to zukka fans there have been attempts at accountability in at leas the circles i travel in, but there's way more to do in this regard.
(and also as a primarily f/f writer i do resent it a teeny tiny bit because of how much reception it receives for a pairing with little textual basis, and how that dwarfs femslash at the end of the day since a lot of the focus on m/m is fetishising or the readers just don't consider the autonomy or interiority of women as interesting).
anyway.
i feel like i have more to say but that is largely it r.e. zukka. very much taught me a ship is often as good as its fandom, but also taught me that i can read two works labelled zukka and they can have absolutely nothing in common beyond that because how good a ship in fic is reliant on what the author has done with it. i’ve read a lot zukka content i adore but i’ve also read a fair amount of zukka content that makes me deeply uneasy/uncomfortable. I still love it but i have a love-hate relationship with it to some extent.

Ok, if anyone haven't noticed before, due to the amount of atla stuff i've been rebloging recently, I was rewatching atla after a long time. And now I'm on to tlok. Except for season 1, I haven't rewatched anything from tlok ever. Especially s2, which i hate.
So, I'm gonna live blog. I'm sorry for all my followers that couldn't give a shit about it. But i’m tagging it as #pris rewatches tlok so feel free to block
some thoughts on The Legend of Korra season 1:
- first thought: i love all the ways that Korra is so different than Aang
- I know I learned to love Tenzin with time, and I think is because it took me a while to realised how everything we know about him is what the narrative (and also him, I guess) wants us to think, not exactly how he actually is. We are constantly told how Tenzin is calm and patient and wise but we keep seeing him being nervous and impatient and making wrong decisions ( some of them completely biased and stiffed). And I learned to love him when I realised that he has (and us as an extension) this idea of what a airbender should be, and he tries to be that, he tries really hard to be that, but is not who he is. And I think this is more explored in s2 and s3 (I love his contrast with Zaheer)  but I'm getting ahead of myself. So... to cut things short, I appreciate how the narrative keeps telling us how calm and collected Tenzin is and then keep showing us how he is not.
- Mako, my boy Mako. On the first episode when he appeared I was like "why do I hate him, again?" and then 2 episodes later I'm like "oh jesus Christ will you shut your mouth!!!?"
- Lin, is a perfect human being, never done anything wrong ever in her life. (And I must confess, her voice is so sexy)
- the whole thing with Pema is so 😬
- i recently read a fic where in different occasions Sokka and Toph (or was it 2 different fics? Who knows?) complains that pro-bending is lame, is not truth to the real spirit of fighting or bending or whatever, and that earth ramble was the real thing. And although I agree that pro-bending brought something new to the styles of bending (you can see by the way the characters moves that there is not that clear distinction between the bending elements in their style of bending anymore, not like there was in atla. And I don't know if it was proposital or a mistake/laziness by the team), I must say so that is so cool to watch!!! I would definitely be a fan of pro-bending if I lived in that world.
- Lin sacrificing herself to save Tenzin's family? That's the shit! That scene haunts me in my dreams till this day.
- knowing how this romance plot is going to end is what's keep me going, honestly. Every time I have to see Mako and Korra interact in a scene I just get this nervous laugh.
- we haven't gone through the other seasons yet but I feel like Amon was the dude who had the best plan. The guy thought and planned his moves and I admire that in a villian.
- not to compare tlok to atla but...... I feel like the new avatar team misses a guy like Sokka. The plan guy, the guy with the ideas. And not just a person to have ideas but a person who think things and how to do things. I feel like this new team avatar just reacts to stuff. That's why their opponents are always ahead of them, because they never think things through. And I know that this is particular to Korra's nature, she's impulsive and always tries to strike first. (Alot like Zuko in s1). But they needed someone like Sokka in the group to balance things out. And I don't think any of the new avatar team is like that. Not even Tenzin.
- general Iroh was kind of the idea guy, and a good one, but he also only appeared for 3 episodes and never again. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- btw, he deserves the name he was given. That dude never stopped even when the odds were all against him. I never checked for the tlok comics but I think I should. I would love some spin offs of the United Nations forces. Would love some stories with Bumi and him, please and thank you.
- to be honest I don't like how Korra got to airbend in the end. She couldn't airbend because she was never in the face of danger or because someone/something she cared about was in danger. It was always because she never listen, she never had patience. Or whatever it was necessary to airbend. Like Aang, when he couldn't earthbend, he couldn't do it because he was never willing to stand his ground and face things head first. And he was only able to do it when he finally stood his ground. But Korra, Korra only did it because the narrative needed her to.
- not gonna lie, that ending with Tarrlok and Noatak? The saddest thing ever.

10 characters for 10 people
Thanks @beevean for tagging me!
1) Vector the Crocodile (Sonic The Hedgehog): My boy Vector doesn’t get enough love. He loves money, listening to some bangers on his headphones and taking on cases with his friends, who doesn’t love that? He also has to make ends meet, which makes him a lot more relatable than you’d think. And let’s not forget the fact that in IDW Sonic he is such a trooper, going out like a champ. Mad respect, my brother.
Tumblr media
2) Rouge the Bat (Sonic the Hedgehog): “Fated not to be tamed // Watch me I never will lean upon you // I can go – by myself”
Rouge is a lot more than her “one polygon” or the sax guy in Sonic X going nuts every time she’s on screen, and it’s sad to see her character has gone to waste ever since -probably- Sonic ‘06, even if I kinda liked her in Forces. Rouge is a tough lass to deal with, she won’t stop until she gets what she wants, and that may lead her to push her luck a little too hard, but don’t let that take away from the fact that she also knows when to step down a bit and focus on other things, even if it hurts her ego quite a lot. She also has a soft side, and she managed to keep Team Dark together for a while now. That last point is what most fans have been pointing out over the years, so I don’t think it’s necessary to go in detail there.
She also has the best SA2 vocal theme, of course ;P
Tumblr media
3) Rayla (The Dragon Prince): What can I say that hasn’t been said before? Even A:TLA comparisons have already been done to death (and the TDP fandom is frowning at me rn for mentioning it.) Rayla has done a lot, and she’s lost most of the ones she loved; but her determination to do the right thing and bring the Humans and Xadians conflict to an end has given her a lot of experiences, a new family and much more. There’s still lots to see from her in Season 4 and beyond, so I implore you to go watch TDP if you haven’t done so already.
Tumblr media
4) Dracula (Netflix’s Castlevania): This is a more of a mellow, sad, tired and melancholic Dracula than I was used to (specially after coming from the old school Castlevania games), and I absolutely love it for that. The fucking Inquisition burned his wife, of course I would sympathize with him during his crusade against humanity; and now that those times are long gone, well... I miss him.
Tumblr media
5) Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender): There’s not much else to say, he stood right by Zuko even when he turned his back on him, he wasn’t perfect, he learned some truly hard lessons in his life, but he ended up doing what he wanted to do the most: make others happy, serving them tea. This year I revisited Avatar for its 15th anniversary, and found myself crying a lot more than I remembered with Iroh’s moments. This show, man.
Tumblr media
6) Theo (Celeste): I love Madeline to death, but Theo has struck me on a personal level. What seemed to be a happy-go lucky young man with a passion for selfies and Instagram (it’s actually real btw), turned out to be a man struggling to find a meaning in his life as he realized he kept hating the boring routine of the city life, and who isn’t going through something similar? His relationship with Madeline also reminded a lot of myself with my best friend, considering she also suffers from similar emotional struggles like Madeline. Celeste is so brilliant, and I’d love to hang out with Theo irl tbh.
Tumblr media
7) Gaunter O’Dimm (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt): The extended universe of The Witcher is in no shortage of fucking amazing characters, but there’s one character exclusive to the third game that’s just... well... it’s evil incarnated. The motherfucker that has its own song that children sing it in the game, that plays in every cutscene where he is present or his name is mentioned, and that, should you choose the “bad” ending of Hearts of Stone, will simply walk away whistling that very fucking song. Oh, and did I mention he’s, like, EVERYWHERE during HoS main quest?
“His smile fair as spring, as towards him he draws you
His tongue sharp and silvery as he implores you
Your wishes he grants, as he swears to adore you
Gold, silver, jewels - he lays riches before you”
Tumblr media
8) Elizabeth (BioShock Infinite): Bruh, that Burial at Sea Part 2 ending. THAT. ENDING.
(Although overall I prefer the first BioShock over the rest, the first half of Infinite with Elizabeth being cheery is absolutely unforgettable for me.)
Tumblr media
9) Soren (The Dragon Prince): Yeah, another repeat, but can we get some salutes in the chat for my boy Soren? A true trooper, he endured all the abusive shit he was getting from his father, decided to do the right thing™ by leaving him behind, and now he’s such a badass at it! I’m still pretty much worried about his sister, Claudia, but it makes me very happy to see my boy fighting for global peace.
Tumblr media
10) Kass (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild): I just love him a lot. I found myself several times spending north of 10 minutes just listening to him playing that accordion time and time again on different beautiful places.
Tumblr media
Phew! That took a lot longer than I anticipated. Now I tag @skull001 @xsailormobian @isakthedragon @imilenium @isakthedragon and... and... well, I give up, anyone else that wants to do it please go ahead and have fun!
