Writer Asks
Thank you so much for tagging me @yletylyf @demonscantgothere @theriverwild @thrillofhope and @coraleethroughthelookingglass! Feeling the love! (and finally finding the time to do this haha :P)
How many works do you have on AO3? 17!
What's your total AO3 words count? 225,854 (the most I've ever written in a year in my LIFE)
What fandoms do you write for? The Rings of Power. But starting to dabble in general Tolkienverse/Legendarium.
What are your top five fics by kudos? - Your Blood, Your Power - Made the Pieces Part of Me - I Felt It Too - The Blacksmith - Barred
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always (unless in a rare couple cases when I've had some odd or negative ones.) I think engaging with the readers is super important, and I love when I comment on other author's fics and they respond to me, so I happily do the same!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmm that's a tough question. Probably my first piece 'I Felt It Too', even though I write a kiss into the infamous log scene, it still doesn't end happily for Haladriel. Feels!
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'd say maybe 'Shake Like the Bough of a Willow Tree' because it's a version of Haladriel's first time together and it ends with them just being happy and in love.
Do you get hate on fics? So far I've been lucky to only receive two hateful comments (they weren't really hateful just misunderstood and harsh) on one of my fics. Basically they disagreed with something I made the 'reader' do in The Blacksmith and felt inclined to let me know. Was an interesting experience.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh yes I write smut haha. I mostly write het smut but have written a little f/f and m/m stuff as well. The Blacksmith even has a m/f/f threesome in it! I don't mind writing darker stuff either, so you'll typically find blood, biting, and choking kinks in my smut too.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written? I don't yet write crossovers but I may dabble down the line. Never say never! My latest fic 'And Horror And Madness Walked' is sorta a crossover/mashup between TROP and The Silm, so that's as close as I've gotten.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge, nope.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope but totally open to it if someone ever wants to!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? No I haven't, but if I ever did, I know exactly who I'd do it with - my partner in crime @pursuitseternal ❤️
What's your all time favourite ship? Definitely Haladriel/Saurondriel. No ship has EVER compelled me to write so much.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have a Galadriel x Female Reader fic called 'Ensnared' I started a few months back that got put to the side when 'Your Blood, Your Power' took off. I would love to go back to it, mostly because I had a lot of fun writing the Gal x Fem Reader pairing in 'The Blacksmith', but I don't know when I will if ever. Hopefully one day.
What are your writing strengths? Twists! haha. I love a good twist and have been told I'm quite good at writing them. I also write poetry so any chance I get to write more poetic sounding prose I absolutely love.
What are your writing weaknesses? Sometimes I think my vocab needs expanding. Thesaurus.com is my best friend haha. I have a habit of reusing words I think. Also planning my fics. I need to get better at planning my fics. Somehow lol.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? The only instance I believe of me ever doing so was using some elvish in 'The Blacksmith'. That was fun. I love the creativity of using different languages in your story, it really helps with the immersion.
First fandom you wrote for? It was never published of course, but when I was in early high school I wrote (and never finished) two Harry Potter reader insert fics. What I would give to read them back now hahaha. Bless 14 year old me.
Favourite fic you've ever written? Oh boy this is tough... it has to be The Blacksmith. Only because I'm so proud of what I achieved with that story. The longest thing I've ever written (102k) and complete with twists and turns that I cannot even believe I conceived and wrote. Plus the response I got from those that read it was so damn nice and I still think about some of the reactions I got on it. And I literally have made friends for life because I wrote and posted that story. It changed EVERYTHING for me. I'm so proud of it and so thankful it exists. Tagging (apologies if you've already done it): @pursuitseternal @heronamedhawks @gil-galadhwen @scriberated @youwearfinethingswellwriter @somebirdortheother @ichabodjane @klynnvakarian @90shaladriel @hazelmaines @myrsinemezzo @nenyabusiness @tmwillson3 @jhalya @hikarielizabethbloom

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag Taka! (@picnokinesis) also this made me realize tumblr has been lovingly hiding other tags I’ve received so sorry to anyone who’s tagged me lately, I straight up haven’t been seeing them haha
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
36
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
558,710
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Doctor Who mostly, but I’ve dipped my toe into Good Omens and Critical Role, and I used to be a star wars girly. Currently MASH of all things has me in a death grip, so we’ll see where that goes
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
time to change the road you’re on, for those who stand long, non sum qualis eram, he who wins shall lose, and The Fisher King Comes Home. (Yikes! A lot of star wars, and a lot of old fic, haha. if you read, keep that in mind.)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do try, but honestly it fills me with the same feeling as answering emails does, and I tend to worry that I’m bothering people. I really do appreciate them, though.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmm, probably pas de deux, which unfortunately aligns with canon haha. And I remember some people were upset with the ending of time to change the road you’re on, but I always felt the ending was more ambiguous than angsty
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Honestly, I think most of them are fairly happy, or at least not devastatingly sad
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not usually - sometimes people with absolutely wild star wars opinions (those always leave me with a bit of a 'ma’am this is a wendy’s' feeling KJHDFGLFG) or people who didn’t like 13 very much (again, like, ma’am, this is a wendy’s). I don’t really care though, I’m liberal with the block button
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nah, I’m like if a repressed victorian gentleman was a lesbian if i ever saw an ankle irl I'd probably faint dead away
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I wouldn’t tend to, but I did try a Star Wars/Doctor Who mashup once, and honestly it sort of worked (I hope!). Back in the day a friend and I were cooking up a Line of Duty/Doctor Who crossover, but it never quite got its feet
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Don’t think so
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, I believe into Russian a few times
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
None that has ever seen the light of day
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I’m not really a shipper. I like 13 and Yaz, and I’m partial to some golden oldies (Mulder and Scully, Xena and Gabrielle, Kirk and Spock, etc etc), but I’ll read whatever
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
nothing beside remains HAUNTS ME moreso than other unfinished fics I’ve got floating around still. If I ever have time again, I’d tackle it, but I didn’t have a solid plan for it and so it’s languishing in the meantime
16. What are your writing strengths?
I make references to modernist literature that would make the greats roll in their graves, I think, which has to be a good thing right? T.S. Eliot Would Want This. i like to think along the way maybe i've given some of you a passable understanding of how post-cold war european integration has failed, as well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I’m a fan of shortcuts, to my detriment. And sometimes I think I make assumptions that aren’t as universal as I think haha. I’m a great abuser of commas, and I never met an em dash I didn’t like, also to my detriment.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Not typically a fan of it, unless it serves a practical purpose
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
jamais vu.
thanks again for the tag taka! I'll tag @gabeorelse, @hellynz, @revisionerydoesthings and of course whoever else would like to do it

Aotearoa [Mostly Poetry] Books I Am In Love With
Some I've included a little review, some I haven't. I still love them. I will probably add to this as I read more
Thorn Boy by C T Dickons
Thorn Boy is a fantasy short story anthology featuring arch demons in hell, the house at the end of the dock, a boy who blends in like a lizard, guardian of the stars, and more. It's a wonderful and imaginative collection refined over years. (Also the cover is gorgeous)
Crude Common Denominator by Max and Olive
Hera Lindsay Bird and Sincerity/Irony by Hera Lindsay Bird
Echidna by essa may ranapiri
A mashup of mythologies: Greek, Māori, and Christianity. It is wonderful and experimental and incredibly queer. This poetry collections follows titular character Echidna as they grow up, punctuated by Maui and Prometheus' tragic love story. It pays homage and is in conversation with many other poets from Aotearoa
Super Model Minority by Chris Tse
The Surgeon's Brain by Oscar Upperton
Poūkahangatus and Rangikura by Tayi Tibble
Meat Lovers by Rebecca Hawkes
From growing up rural to moving to a big city, another lens of the queer experience, Meat Lovers was another favourite. I love a poetry collection that also tells a story.
Biter by Claudia Jardine
The modern and the classics are woven effortlessly together in Jardine's collection with scatterings of Greek epigram translations. As a lover of the classics and a lover of poetry, this is perfect
Black Marks on the White Page edited by Witi Ihimaera and Tina Makereti
A stunning collection of Oceanic writing. Have I read all of it? Not yet, but there are some wonderful pieces in here and this was one of my first true introductions to Oceanic writing. 'Pitter Patter Papatūānuku' remains my favourite.
Transposium by Dani Yourukova
The reason I made this post. A mashup of poetry and dark academia and philosophy and classics. Queer longing, philosophy rambles, thinly veiled Les Mis fanfiction.
Out Here: An anthology of Takatāpui and LGBTQIA+ writers from Aotearoa edited by Emma Barnes and Chris Tse
Exactly what the title says. This is the first of it's kind in Aotearoa and it is an incredibly beautiful anthology.
Scathing: A Horror Anthology by Sam Wyss
Fucking creepy. I wanted to throw my book across the room because it made my skin crawl (and I would have had I not been at work). But wonderful. 24 short horror stories set in the fictional town of Scathing. From moon mania to murder to spontaneous human combustion, to weird deer creatures. Sam is a bloody talented author and I am 100% biased in saying that.
Ship of Horrors: A Manifest of Nightmares
Just like Scathing, it was bone chilling. Made my skin scrawl. I wanted to through my book across the room. This is a collection of a variety of local authors who all had the same prompt: The UCF Carcosa has been found adrift in space, the ship's only communication is a single repeating plea, 'leave us be. For god's sake, run away'. Killer plagues, graphic depictions of spaghettification, evil plants, eldritch monsters. And I am also 100% biased in saying this one as well. (If you've seen my posts about Spores)

Hi Talviel I've been a huge fan of your work for a long long time, and I love the sociological angle you give to the descriptions of the food! As I'm getting back into Skyrim after a long hiatus and playing a lot of great quest mods, what are some of your favorite examples of cross cultural fusion cuisine in Tamriel? ((As a side note I'm wondering if you've ever played Enderal, it'll definitely give you some good recipes and it's an amazing game!!!))
Fusion cuisine is all over Tamriel due to thousands of years of cross-cultural interaction and trade. In fact, many classic dishes (like Elsweyr Fondue, which has Nord and Khajiiti origins) are in fact a mashup of cultural kitchens! These are some of my favourites...
Altmer
Aldmeri cuisine, especially coastal delicacies, are often inspired by the Maormer, though nobody admits to it. For example, the classic cold seaweed salad with a sweet-and-savoury sauce and sesame seeds is first documented in kitchen records for the Maormer Embassy on Kenarthi's Roost over two Eras ago. However, it's taken a firm root in Altmer culinary tradition, and for good reason too!
Argonians
The Argonians, through trading and slavery under the Dunmer, have adopted many Dark Elf foods for their own, such as saltrice and bantam guar. Saltrice and bean stew is a popular worker's meal, loaded with other ingredients including fish or shellfish, vegetables, lentils, and if you're lucky, grilled snails or crunchy crickets.
Bosmer
The Bosmer are surprisingly open to trying new foods as long as they're Green Pact compliant, and as a result there are a fair few imported dishes served with Valenwood flair. For example, Hammerfell-style roast goat, which is customarily cooked in clay and sand ovens, is a popular favourite. While the original is spiced with harissa and other plant-based spices, the Bosmer are a little more inventive with their seasonings, basting their goat with a blend of spicy thunderbug egg paste, ghee, salt, and dried sweetgnats.
Bretons
While they're reluctant to admit it, Bretons and Nords share a number of similarities in cuisine. In High Rock, clotted cream, which is a traditional Nord technique of preparing sweet set cream, is immensely popular! Clotted cream fudge is a delightful treat that brings a further Khajiiti influence, but is absolutely a 100% Breton candy!
Dunmer
The Dunmer may pretend that they're cultural and culinary purists, but it's just a front considering that the time-honoured Redoran Crab Meat and Scuttle is actually an Imperial dish favoured by Queen Barenziah. Now that half of Morrowind wants my head, I'll let you in on a further secret: the creamy dip is actually Orcish in origin, based on echatere cheese dips from ancient Orsinium!
Imperials
Trying the primordialist approach when analysing the culinary history of Cyrodiil is more or less impossible, as the centre of Tamriel has always been a melting pot of cultures and foods from all races. The dish most famous for celebrating this diversity is New Life harmony pie, which includes an ingredient from each Province of Tamriel. While it varies from household to household, you'll commonly find ingredients like comberry, frost mirriam, timber mammoth milk, moon sugar, juniper berries, dried cherry blossoms, and even wamasu or fellrunner eggs from opposite ends of the continent!
Khajiit
I've always said that Khajiiti and Redguard cuisine are best friends, and I personally enjoy playing with combining the two. One of my signature dishes is mutton curry two ways: Elsweyr and Hammerfell style. Elsweyr curries are often green and coconut-based, with mutton that melts in your mouth. Redguards prefer rich tomato-based red curry with hearty roasted chunks of mutton. Combine the two in any combination? Culinary perfection, especially with a sprinkle of moon sugar.
Nords
I'm almost ready to say that Skyrim's food culture can be even more insular than Morrowind's, but that would be a lie. With borders to Morrowind, High Rock, and Cyrodiil, we are an adaptive bunch who have taken a few staple foods and made them our own. Jazbay Crostata is proof of Imperial influence on the Province's dessert culture, using native grapes rather than Cyrodiilic ones, and custard cream instead of zabaglione.
Orcs
Wrathberry liqueur is a famous beverage that's enjoyed widely all over Tamriel, though it's not often known that the brewing technique is almost identical to the way comberry flin is made in Morrowind! There is no small amount of alchemical talent and patience required in the making of wrathberry liqueur, but its unique bittersweet flavour and velvety finish makes it one of the most sought-after Orcish exports.
Redguards
Of all the places for Argonian cuisine to spread its influence, you probably wouldn't expect it to be the depths of the Alik'r. Yet where else in Tamriel would you find so many lizards, and people who might be interested in eating them? Barbecued lizard skewers dipped in fiery habanero sauce are a popular snack, which are surprisingly good once you get over the fact you're munching on a reptile on a stick. Thankfully, you can also get your lizards diced beforehand, making it a slightly (but only slightly) less harrowing experience to eat.

Burn traitor | Geto Suguru
Tumblr media
anime/manga: jujutsu kaisen
character: geto suguru
words: 2080
notes: hey! this is my first geto piece and it's angst hehe. I had this idea for a while now and I finally found a song that inspired me to write it, the lyrics do not really match the scenario but I still think the atmosphere fits. I think it's one of my favourite I've written, not that I wrote it well because, I didnt, I just like making myself suffer apparently because I love writting angst oops... also sorry for any mistakes english isn't my native language! also my requests are open you can find my rules here.
not proof read
song rec: burn x traitor mashup - Hamilton & Olivia Rodrigo
genre: angst
warnings: manga spoilers, violence, major character death, murder, some blood, i think that's it, tell me if i missed anything
You met Geto when you were both in high school, honestly your meeting wasn’t the most romantic, in fact he saved you from a curse on that day. Before meeting him, you had no idea what a curse was and if anyone told you they existed you probably would have laughed in their face. But unfortunately for you, they existed and you wished you had learned about them beforehand, because this was one of the scariest moments of your life. However, thanks to this unfortunate night you met the love of your life. The one who saved you ended up becoming the very person you would become infatuated with. After saving you, you both started seeing each other, going on some dates before making it official. You both seemed to have what people would call the perfect love, your friends would often tell you that you found your soulmates and you truly believed you did. At least that’s what you thought.
Geto had been sent on a mission a week ago, but he promised he would be back for your 2 years anniversary, he said that no matter what he would always find a way to come back to you. So why wasn’t he here, why were you crying in the arms of your boyfriend’s best friend while he was trying his best to contain his own? Why was he saying Geto left? That he killed his parents and ran away to become a curse user?
“He wouldn’t. He can’t do this, he would have told me, warned me at least.” You cried to Gojo.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to believe it either, but I saw him, I talked to him and he did, there is no going back. He won’t change his mind.” He told you, sadness clear in his voice.
“I need to see him too, tell me where I can see him.”You said, begging Gojo with your eyes.
“I think it’s best for you if you didn’t. He didn’t hesitate to kill his own parents, I think it would be safer for you as a non-sorcerer to just let him go, and maybe move away.” The white-haired man tried explaining, but you could only shake your head at him.
“No! You’re lying, you’re trying to keep me away from him. He would never do this to me, to them. You’re a liar Gojo!” Your cries getting louder with each word, you tried escaping the sorcerer’s grasp but it was in vain.
“I’m sorry.” The young man once again said, still not letting go of your struggling figure. “I can’t let you get hurt more than this, I know this is why he didn’t come back to you, he can’t hurt you. Please listen to me, at least this once.”
And listen to him you did, it took a lot of convincing but you did, kind of. You were feeling a lot of things, sadness, anger, betrayal, but deep down you still missed him. You told yourself that maybe he did want to come to you but couldn’t because he knew the higherups would be able to find him here, you were trying to convince yourself that maybe he was missing you just as much and that he would come to find you later, when they wouldn’t be searching for him so heavily. So you waited, a day, then two, and then three, and soon days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, which turned into years.
It had already been three years, three years since Suguru vanished from your life, three years since he left you behind as if you never mattered to him, as if you didn’t spend two years of your life loving and supporting him with everything you got. Three years since you started waiting for him, hoping to get a sign from him, a letter, a phone call, anything that would tell you he was still alive, and missed you just as much as you did. Yes, of course you were angry, you wanted to scream at him from what he did, but, a part of you still wanted to believe that none of this was true, and that he didn’t do this of his own volition.
It was an ordinary day for you, you were in your apartment, watching the tv while reminiscing about your days with Geto, when a knock on your door interrupted your train of thoughts. Almost like a robot you took yourself to the door, thinking it might just be Gojo checking on you like he had been doing for three years. But when you opened your door, it wasn’t the white-haired sorcerer standing in front of you, no. It was the very man you were previously thinking about, the one you thought you would never see again. You couldn’t believe your eyes, you hoped so hard for this day to happen that now it suddenly became real, you were starting to doubt your sanity.
“Su-suguru?” You eventually let out under your breath after staring at him for what felt like hours.
“Hey…” He awkwardly waved at your frozen figure.
“Hey? Hey??? Is that all you have to say?” You asked dumbfounded, finally snapping out of your daydream. “How dare you? You disappeared right before our second anniversary after promising me you would always come back to me. Three years Geto, you left for three years. And now you come back like nothing happened and the first thing you say is hey? Is that all I’m worth? Didn’t I deserve at least a goodbye? An explanation? A letter? Anything? Do you know what I’ve been told about you? Do know what they said you’ve done?? They said I shouldn’t try to reach you because you would kill me too.” All of your pent-up frustration and anger ultimately getting the best you, and before you could stop them tears were running down your cheeks.
“Look, I’m truly sorry for making you go through all of this. It was never my intention.” The black-haired sorcerer started.
“You’re sorry?” You said incredulously, years of repressed anger finally bursting out. “You think a sorry will cut it? Geto do you know what I went through? I’ve waited for a sign from you for three years. For three years I’ve prayed and hoped that none of what I’ve been told was right. I believed in you, believed in what we had. But now that you’re standing before me all of that hope in you has completely vanished. You don’t even look a bit remorseful for what you’ve made me go through. Sorry? Let me laugh. Are you sorry for the sleepless nights? For the hours spent crying over your disappearance? For the void in my heart that you’ve caused when you left? Are you sorry for the way you broke me Suguru? Are your sorry for the way you’ve emotionally killed me?”
Your monologue left the curse user speechless, he truly was sorry, he wished he could have told you but he couldn’t. He always thought about you, he missed you the most. He wanted to come see you so badly, hug you, tell you how much he loved you, and most of all kiss you, he wanted it so badly but he knew it would only put you in danger, so he didn’t. This is all he wanted to tell you, but couldn’t, he knew you would believe him, and, in the end, this was going to hurt even more.
“I am.” Geto settled on these simple words, he knew it wasn’t enough, he knew it would anger you, but this was for the best, he already made his choice three years ago.
“I can’t believe you. I can’t believe I trusted you, that I thought you weren’t the person people said you became. How foolish of me to have trusted you. Thanks for giving me the closure I needed. At least you’ve done one thing right.” You laughed bittersweetly before reaching for the door and closing it.
“Are you going to do it or not?” A voice suddenly said, holding the door you were about to shut. “This is what we came here for. Remember what you’ve said, this world doesn’t have space for non-sorcerers.”
“I know. I will do it. I just need a moment.” The black-haired sorcerer replied with a heavy sigh which deeply confused you.
“What are you even saying? Stop whatever you’re doing, just leave and let me close this damn door.” You growled, growing annoyed at the fact your door wouldn’t budge no matter how much strength you used.
“So?” The same voice asked, continuing to apply pressure on the door to keep you from shutting it.
“I’m sorry.” Geto sighed sadly, his eyes filled with this same foreign feeling they had before he left for his last mission as a jujutsu sorcerer.
“You already said that, I get it. Now leave.” You insisted, growing scared at your door which wouldn’t close and the look in Geto’s eyes.
“I never meant for this to happen.” Your ex-lover said, bringing one of his hands to caress your cheek.
“What are you talking about?” You inquired, now furiously pushing on your door in hope it would finally close.
“But I have no choice.” The curse user continued, his fingers catching the tears that were still rolling down your face. “I know you will understand.”
“What the fuck are you saying Suguru, get out of here you’re scaring me. I don’t know you anymore. You’re not the person I used to love!” You screamed, hands shaking and still pushing the unmoveable door. “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE.”
“I loved you, I always will. I hope we will be able to meet in our next life and finally be together like we were meant to.” Geto declared before bending down to softly kiss your forehead. “I’m sorry.”
His actions stunned you, you didn’t even have the time to process anything before a warm feeling made its way to your stomach. Quite a familiar and nostalgic feeling if you were asked, the same one you used to feel whenever you and Geto were together, the one which used to spread throughout your entire body when he would tell you he loved you. But today it felt strangely different, almost bittersweet, it wasn’t a feeling you ever wanted to feel again, no, this one hurt, this one burned you to your core, this one was killing you.
“You-” You started before a violent cough interrupted you, one that burned your entire throat. You coughed for a minute before looking down at your hand, and to your horror it was covered in blood.
Panic and confusion flooded your mind, you looked at Geto’s face, searching for an answer, something that would tell you what was happening but the only thing you could see was the one thing you wished you could have seen when he first knocked on this door, remorse. Eventually your eyes trailed down your lover figure, until you saw his arms reaching out to you, you didn’t remember that he was touching you. You followed it to find where his hand was, your stomach. Your vision was starting to get blurry, was it the tears? Or were you losing consciousness? You didn’t really know. All you knew was that this warm feeling in your stomach was getting stronger and stronger. You blinked a few times and finally, you could see clearly, Geto wasn’t touching you, no, Geto was killing you. His arm that you thought was reaching out to you, was in fact piercing you right through your stomach. This warm feeling that kept getting stronger, it wasn’t love, no, it was anger, pain, betrayal, resentment. How foolish of you to have believed in him.
In your last moment of consciousness, you told yourself that you should have trusted Gojo, you should have listened to him and moved overseas. You shouldn’t have had faith in Geto, deep down you knew it, you knew it, but it was too late for regrets, nothing could be done anymore, he won.
“Traitor.” You managed to let out before taking your final breath, the world around you gradually fading to black. The last image you saw was the face of your lover, tears-stained cheeks and remorse written all over it, but it was too late for regrets, he picked the world he wanted to live in and you weren’t part of it.
