Ayo!!! It's been a while since I've drawn utau (utmv?) stuff in a fully rendered style, so.... when I saw @itsxroxannex had a dtiys I had to shoot my shot!

Actually, I don't think I've ever done a dtyis before 👀 so this was really fun.

I... actually don't think I've ever drawn Passive!NM either tbh. This entire drawing was kinda like a personal challenge to myself, since I often lack w/ backgrounds too.

I did kinda a study on the originals background, because I tend to just draw characters w/o a solid background, and when I do add a background characters usually blend into it a lil too well to discern figures, so the color choices and soft loose lines compared to the hard lines + cell shading felt really nice.

I also decided to go back to Procreate for this one too! Normally I draw w/ Medibang these days, but I learned to draw utau stuff on Procreate and so drawing them elsewhere feels wrong.

And, of course, the last note I'll add in the actual post: my sketch process is trash lmao. Literally I just wing the shapes of clothes and junk based on the vibes and resize as needed. I love looking at the og sketch tho cuz it's so... bald. No under-form, no indicator of limbs, nothing.

Had an angsty thought about P falling in love with reader whose staying in the hotel and using that as a sort of motivation to continue to try and become human because lord above he wants nothing more than to actually feel for them, like really feel for them, and he's fairly sure that [for reasons he doesn't quite understand] that the "love" is mutual. But also reader has such unstable attachment issues that don't really manifest in a noticeable/harmful way until P actually confesses his feeling for them and reader just fucking. breaks his newly formed heart because holy shit they cannot do that. okay so first of all i should clarify that basically all of my ships go both ways (bc i am a filthy vers and i cannot relate to only being into one or the other kjhfkdsj)

i looooove snake bottoming, especially with grey fox and kaz bc imo they're more likely to want to fuck him up real bad (Kaz for Revenge Related Reasons, Fox cause he's just kinky like that)

my thoughts on otacon TOPPING however, are complicated. im of two minds:

one, i relate to him. kinda also look like him (is that a self own? feels like one). i like topping. otacon topping makes me go :))) from dopamine

HOWEVER in-universe i feel like he has shit to unpack, trauma-wise, before he can top. dude probably thinks his dick is cursed, i know i would. That's not to say i think he doesnt top, i just think there's a lot of Fun Trauma Breakdowns in the meantime. Brother's Keeper Design Fun Facts that I Wrote on a Very Long Plane Flight to Occupy Myself, and Ignore the Baby Crying Behind Me and the Trail Mix I Spilled into my Luggage (and then Rewrote Later When I was Actually Coherent): a Saga

Hello, ppl who expressed interest in this, thank u for giving me something to do! I hope u find something interesting in me rambling. I like thinking about design maybe a little too much. Here goes:

Fun Fact! In this au Caleb essentially has three personas and now that I'm putting words to it, I realize that this is central to how i draw things because most everything I design to add him into the story is defined by one or more of them. It goes like this:

PERSONA 1: Mad Lord Metanoy

His public image: the tragic brother of the emperor, crippled and driven to insanity by wild magic and presented to the public as an example. This is what Belos WANTS everyone to see, and so it's the most prevalent and is a weird mix of pompous (bc he's an important public figure and the emperor's brother) and pitiful (bc his "tragedy" is central to Belos' propaganda).

PERSONA 2: (Failed) Witch Hunter Caleb

The persona cultivated by Philip: simultaneously the perfect witch-hunting older brother he WANTS and thinks Caleb SHOULD have been if only he'd never been "corrupted" by witches, and also a rebuke for NOT being that. This is an image built out of Philip's wishes, idealization, hero-worship, nostalgia, and anger. Unfortunately for him, it's a persona that's no more real than Mad Metanoy is.

Since he's in control of what clothes Caleb has and what furniture is in his room, he both tries to force it on him and punishes him for failing to live up to it. Which leads to my favorite design tidbit: the caged wings motif! I use it a lot lol, mostly on the furniture. I'm not sure it's really something Philip uses in this way on a conscious level, but the implications are pretty rude and it's fun for me to work in.

Similar to the Golden Guard/Gravesfield symbol but not exactly the same because other people aren't really supposed to know that Caleb has anything to do with the Golden Guard. Every time a pair of wings appears in Caleb's captivity, they are always contained within some kind of barrier. Even the wings of the Emperor's Coven symbol on Caleb's headboard are imprisoned beneath a canopy.

PERSONA 3: and finally, The True Caleb!!

Who he REALLY is: a free-spirited nerd who likes to read, learn, and work with his hands. Poor guy though, he has very limited opportunity to express it. His real persona appears only in the hobbies he's permitted and how he wears and uses the things Philip provides for him.

Post-duvos Grace and Qi are so funny bcuz they’re both so smart but Ik they’ll get invested in the dumbest shit to prove they’re better than the other one. I just feel like they get in the stupidest arguments they wouldn’t get in with anyone else.

Qi, who normally would not give two shits about his alma matter, would definitely pull out “Hm. It seems my university is superior in many respects including our football team” (he has no idea how good the football team is) and Grace, who also couldn’t care less, pulls out a “YEAH? WELL OUR BASKETBALL TEAM WIPED THE FLOOR WITH YOURS.” (She also has no idea how good any of the sports teams were.)

Another silly idea I have floating around in my head is Qi going to the blue moon saloon to get a tea and grace is just like “Smh ofc it’s a Friday night and you’re drinking tea” and Qi, who normally would respond with a “yes and what’s wrong with that?” Takes the bait and responds with a “and what would you rather I drink?” And they get into a drinking competition bcuz Grace is under the impression Qi can’t hold his liquor (he cannot but she barely can either.) (Qi wakes up with the stupidest hangover pissed off that he fell for her trick and Grace wakes up with a bit less of a hangover but equally as stupid and upset that she had a genuinely intellectually stimulating conversation with Qi about Gungham)

I also think it would be silly if they did a cooking competition where both of them lose because neither of them can cook a good omelette. Grace thinks hers have improved enough to at least beat Qi who doesn’t cook. They both almost burn down the kitchen.

I just think they egg eachother on in such a specific way where they just can’t resist. They bring the most spiteful parts out of eachother. They get eachother in such a personal way that they know all the buttons to push. And despite it always going badly it’s so fun for them, especially Grace.

I feel like they frequently have battles of wits that neither of them have had for a while and it’s so nice to have someone who you feel you can go back and forth with who you’re more or less equals with.

I also have the funniest idea of Trudy trying to make them get along better post-duvos by assigning Grace as Qis assistant for like a week and they both know this is an AWFUL decision. And it is bcuz they both need too much control. So naturally, they fight over every conclusion reached until a great solution to the problem arises and it’s just a moment where both of them try to disprove eachother but realize neither of them can and every statement that ends in them all agreeing causes more and more excitement until they both decide they’ve finally figured it out. it’s the most excited they’ve both felt in a while over something that really is not a big discovery and is really just them solving a minor problem.

ROBIN ROBIN MY DEAR DEAR MUTUAL ROBIN YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF PANDORAN BOX YOU'VE JUST OPENED. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE EXECUTION GAMES

The Execution Games (otherwise known as the exgames, or usually teg) is a series of death games run by yours truly, but more Specifically, is run by the hosts: Killer, Hunter, and Ripper. I'll talk more about them later because I can't ever shut up about them, but the players then include, surprise! me again, but also my dear friends :) who enjoy violence like me :) Teg was truly inspired by my obsession with last life and how badly I wanted to play with my friends, plus my inability to play minecraft at the time and my game design and digital storytelling muses, so you can see those influences. A good handful of us play characters that share names with us (helps that many of us have large hoards of names lol) and so p! is used for players, c! for contestants, the characters actually fighting in the games, and then there are also spectators (s!) who mainly watch, but also Can interact with the playing field in limited ways

As far as what the games actually look like, they go on a weekly basis, with wednesday being Execution Day (or exday), where every contestant must draw a card. The contestant who draws the ace is that week's Executioner, though there can be multiple as people lose lives and also become executioner if they draw the 2 or 3. If you're executioner, you need to kill someone by the end of next exday. Simple as that. If you don't, you become the target of the next week's executioner, and you take double damage from their attacks! :)

Now. the hosts. ohhhhhh the hosts. So the thing about teg is that it's a bit of a meta game. There's an item called your talisman that players have to carry around in real life, and if caught without it they're are consequences for their contestant, and all resources for crafting and whatnot come from photos of real life. So in this nature, the hosts are.. weird. They can talk to the players, for one thing. If we consider Killer (any prns), who was originally the sole host of the games and is their creator, well. a lot of players have talked to Killer directly, and more than once. It's a common occurrence. Killer knows the players, and knows the contestants, and knows the difference between them, because a crucial aspect of teg is this: the contestants are the manifestation of the player's desire to play. The games are violent, and deadly, and lead to heartbreak and destruction and anguish. So of course not every contestant might be happy about playing. But if the player is having a good time? sucks to suck <3 that's what it's all about

As far as the other hosts, they're all siblings, but the other two emerged after Killer. Despite this contradiction, Hunter (she/he/they/it/none) is actually the eldest, and while it doesn't do the hands-on hosting that Killer does, she is responsible for the story and lore of teg, as well as the world itself, the playing field, the arena the contestants find themselves in every games. They actually work with Killer in a sandbox to construct the new playing field between games <3 very sweet. What Isn't so sweet is the youngest bitch Ripper (he/she/they/any). This thing is a bastard. and rude. and generally awful. But Ripper's entire purpose is to be on standby in case of Killer's death, which spawned from a point in time where. uhm. some players were considering trying to kill Killer LMAO so yknow. Ripper can Only host if Killer is dead. which makes him a bit salty LOL

But all of that aside ! The point I touched on about contestants being forced to play even if they don't want to (which a lot don't LOL) is the part I think you'd enjoy as far as "forcing my friends to play death games with me ^_^" since as far as the actual players my dear wondrous friends, they ofc aren't forced to play if they don't want lol, but their contestants are held to their whims <3 and it is the job of me and Killer to keep that locked down YIPPEEEEEEEE!!! ^_^!!!

I'm now going to stop talking before this becomes four billion words LOL. but I love teg. There's actually a secret hidden tegblr that is extremely unfinished and hasn't been touched since the first exgames (we're currently on the fourth) but I've been wanting to revamp, and likely will once I'm back at college ! :D and if you want to hear more, there will certainly be more about it there <3 and also if anyone wants to talk more about teg more it is not hard to get me to talk about it. clearly ASDFLJSABDF. it's been my passion project for a couple years now and I love it dearly <3 so yeah. a lot of people seem to use Entry #60 as 'proof' for the crux of the "Brian didn't care about Tim, he was Taking Advantage of Tim's conditions and Forcing him to work as part of totheark" thing, but honestly when you think about it there's no possible way Brian could have possibly orchestrated that series of events, like you almost have to interpret that as a baffling group of coincidences

#N posts stuff #mh lb #it's not like Brian has loads of mutual friends that he could ask to call Tim out one night; Tim's departure right as Brian showed up #just has to be a coincidence ; second yes. Brian does steal Tim's meds & that's a dick move but it's almost safe to assume #that Tim and Brian had been sharing prescriptions back in S1 - that's why the pills were at Brian's house that time Jay broke in #even if Tim no longer remembers that agreement it's not like Brian is brimming with other options so i can see the throughline of it #but there's NO way that Brian knew that 1) Tim was going to immediately turn around and come back home OR #2) be in the throes of an attack when he did so ; there's no Possible way he planned for that -- even if you Could assume that like. what #Brian 'knows' the operator is following him & Somehow orchestrated an encounter 1) no that doesn't make any sense and #2) that Still doesn't make any sense bc Tim has been Plenty Close to the Operator before w/ almost no negative effects (like in #Entry 17 when it's Right behind him) so there's no possible way Brian could have predicted that would unfold this way #sure it's weird he sets up the camera in the closet before Tim comes back but that Could Have been something unrelated #after all sometimes Brian DOES deliberately put himself on camera so someone knows he's responsible for something #or maybe he even planned to leave the camera there for later but it doesn't make Sense to interpret that as him Knowing what would happen #like don't get me wrong i'm not trying to say Brian is a pinnacle of ethics and moral behavior lmfao but also it's like #a kind of incomprehensible argument to make that he was Responsible for Triggering Tim's seizure that night when for all the #information Brian had on hand when he broke in he'd think Tim probably wouldn't be back home until much later #(''but the Creators Clearly intended'' yeah sure but since the creators also failed to establish a coherent series of events that SHOW #it then like. the intent doesn't matter anymore; sure they scripted the events in close succession but that doesn't mean they #scripted Intent & if they meant to then they did a bad job portraying it to the point the supposed intent is meaningless sorry lmao)#and EVEN IF you get this far and you're Still like 'but tim went after Jay and Brian would've Known he'd do that' like. no he wouldn't #because in Entry 18 when we see Tim have a seizure the first thing he does when jay approaches him after it is Run Away #so Again there's no consistent throughline of behaviors that Brian could have Possibly known about to orchestrate jack shit
