overall issue extremely juvenile and if you're advertising your book that way it is probably an honest, helpful flag for your writing style and target audience but it's so offensive that people think an out of context trope is going to necessarily be a "thing i like." people slap that fanfic tag on anything from two people trying to be the number one pinball champ in oregon and hatefucking wildly in arcade basements to two people being mildly sarcastic at eachother and then kissing without tongue. some guy asked me what tropes i prefer for romance and when i responded ":)???" he went, as exactly as i can remember, "more of a found family type?" this isn't a sweeping statement on the Current Literature ultimately it is just this one guy still living rent free

also "poc" being a grouping under "things you like" actually is so damning for the whole state of #OwnVoices. a box that gets ticked. famous "poc" novels such as blu's hanging and what if it's us
