first off I'm so so delighted that I picked up FE3H last summer and that it led me to finding your writing & especially this fic. what an amazing experience, what a treat with every update, I have all these fun memories now of places I was when I got the update email (and screamed internally every time). a little collection of sense memories colored in.

as for the actual question: very curious about your process. did you have an outline going in? I have to imagine yes (or else you're braver than black friday shoppers). how did you go about structuring this, ie did you have a series of Moments in your head that you wrote around and connected, or did you try to build scenes to fit the arcs you had in mind, or a mix of the two? anything and everything you want to share, I'm 🤲

you're killing me!!! man, thanks so much, seriously. 

as for the actual question, indeed. hahaha. ha. i delayed answering this for so long because it kept devolving into an essay about the emotional experience of writing a novel for the first time. well i give up. this is now two posts. one is the actual answer to your question, only ten times longer than it needs to be. the other is an essay about the emotional experience of writing a novel for the first time. so… caveat lector. 

first part under the cut. ← not kidding about the caveat!!!!!!

i've talked a little about the process before, so i'll piggyback on that post and dig a little more into the differences between the original idea and the finished product, including spoilers i couldn't get into when i'd only posted 55k. ("only." god.)

technically this did start with an outline. technically because at the time i was brand-new to fe3h and hadn't written anything but a few friend-ficlets in about 8 years. thought "skating au!!", spent a fevered weekend outlining all the major scenes, started in on the writing, and…. very quickly realized that i was nowhere near competent enough to actually. write it. "intensely frustrating" does not even scratch the surface, lmao, of what it felt like to have this thing in my head and only be able to produce what felt like the worst clumsiest tritest version of it. very apropos for skating, actually. 

looking back on that outline, it had almost nothing to do with the finished product, especially on felix's side. it didn't have the nationals flounce, the timeskip, training in vancouver, the lake, the nhk trophy sports anime climax, the backstory reveal meltdown. (it did have the redemptive healing free skate.) what, critically, it did have was sylvain's personal arc—burned out, desperate to quit, wants to go to college. it ended at exactly the same place as the actual story, with sylvain and dorothea's final skate together. the last line was one of the earliest things i wrote. 

in other words, even though almost everything between the first and last scene changed WILDLY in the process of writing, i always knew exactly what i was working towards and that was invaluable. 

insert two year timeskip here! during which i would occasionally reopen the skating doc, take a stab at another scene, feel this ominous sense of foreboding, and give up lol. you can thank the 2022 winter olympics for making me get serious, specifically 1) yuzuru hanyu going out in a blaze of bittersweet doomed quad axel glory 2) shoma uno losing to some eighteen year old. i believe my exact words were (consults notes) "anyway time to go back to my fic where i control the narrative and i decide who wins." idk what made this attempt different than any of the others—right time, right inspiration, right circumstances—but this time it caught fire. in uh. in a big way. 

so that's when i wrote what i refer to in that post as a skeleton draft and what i've since come to think of as a storyboard on steroids. this is when felix's arc really took shape, beyond "he is sad… he is mad… he is perfectly positioned to see right through sylvain." the fallout from nationals crystallizing, in particular, was one of the things that snapped felix into place and helped determine the tone and focus of the story overall. (that initial outline had much more of a romcom/classic fwb-to-lovers feel.)

the other thing that did this, of course, was sylvain's narrative voice. when i committed to "burnout who is controlling every single word of every thought to avoid admitting that he is burned out" was when this story became what it is. the voice dictated every single scene, the tone, the shape, what was revealed, what was implied, what was never making it on the page. it led me places i didn't anticipate. it made the cuts for me! cute scene you've got in that outline lol sylvain would never. 

i see past me in that post dancing around the length, lmao. well the ""storyboard"", the skeleton, whatever you want to call it, was over 100k. and yet even then, EVEN WITH 100K ON PAPER, there was still so much i had no fucking clue was coming! felix pushing sylvain on what he wants was there, but sylvain never explained what happened. my oc jm gautier (thanks for nothing, three hopes!!!) was an ominous presence, but he wasn't the final boss. there was no memory of the first time sylvain and dorothea met. (<- insane.) there was no glenn skate. i had to write to discover all of that.

so like—i cannot emphasize how much i grew as a writer through the experience of writing this story. prose, structure, character arcs, thematic arcs. i was harder on myself than i've ever been. and if i hadn't had that end goal in sight i don't know if i would have made it through all those iterations—storyboarding, drafting, rewriting, editing. wanting to deliver that moment powered me through any amount of frustration/exhaustion/bewilderment.

wow this post sounds almost normal. nothing about this experience was normal. which is why you're getting a part 2.

Music Mode Ideas, Portal Hallway Arc Edition

I was gonna put the entirety of Season 1 into the first post, but I was hella tired, so yeah.

Episode 5

This arc follows Jesse and their band as they go on their first tour. This means that Axel and Olivia are present the entire time. The band has an awesome concert jam session at the start of the episode.

On their way out, they run into Aiden, Maya and Gill, who are now decked out in neon jackets with glowing patterns and roller skates.

They turned the Ocelots, the pop band Lukas was in, into a pop rock band called the Blazing Skates.

The Blazing Skates are always skating around, a la the Electric Skates from the Spongebob Musical. (That’s my inspiration for them ‘cause the Electric Skates remind me so much of the Blaze Rods.) That’s their gimmick.

Ivor tells them that he mapped out their tour route. It's different from their original route, but they decide to go with it, since their tour is called the Exploration Tour. They want to adventure in-between shows.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot- Ivor makes independent folk pop, plus Japanese indie production. He writes whatever he wants, doing it purely for fun.

In Sky City, unauthorized music is prohibited, and Isa is really strict about what kind of music she listens to.

This changes when she meets Jesse, so at the end, she decides to try being experimental like them.

Milo is an alternative rock artist who runs his own rock club. It’s made with soundproof walls so the guards can’t hear what happens in there.

Episode 6

Cassie Rose does evil showtunes. The last thing TorqueDawg heard when being shot was a haunting, theatrical melody coming from the walls.

Sparklez: "Come on! You don't know me? I'm the genius behind 'Fallen Kingdom' and 'Revenge!' You know, creeper..."

Yeah, you probably can guess what the YouTubers do here- they make parodies.

Something Hino said: "Dan: Creeper..." "Sparklez: Aw, man!" "Stampy: You're SERIOUSLY joking at a time like this?!"

Basically, Cassie turns this into Murder Mystery: The Musical.

Episode 7

I've always gotten some kind of Western sci-fi vibe from Crown Mesa. So, in this AU, it's very much Western.

Harper makes country music. More specifically, it's old-timey bluegrass. The stuff you hear at the Country Bear Jamboree.

She invented PAMA to make things more efficient, but also to make things more fun for the citizens by having mobs do Western dances.

PAMA, of course, wanted to make things more "useful." It makes everybody line dance under its control, and it wants the lines to be as precise as possible. Perfectly synchronized hoedowns.

Episode 8

The Games are an athletic Battle of the Bands that no one can ever win because Hadrian and Mevia are full of themselves.

Hadrian's style is EDM, and his office is decorated with several gold and platinum records.

Mevia makes marching band music, having a contemporary classical kind of vibe. She's a very hardcore drum major.

Otto's music is a Minecraft equivalent of calm gospel hymns. He's usually singing the praises of the Admins.

Harper used to sing Admin hymns with him, adding some of her bluegrass to them.

Em and Nell are an indie duo. They make some pretty kickass workout music.

The Games offer a cash prize to whoever wins, so Nell and Em are trying to win so that they can fund their music.

By the end of the episode, Jesse and their friends convince everyone to band together, both figuratively and literally.

He begins to write whatever pieces he feels like writing, doing it out of fun, and feels more confident in his abilities as a musician.

Episode 6

TorqueDawg dies at the end of the band's concert in this venue, which freaks everyone out. The last thing he heard when being killed was a haunting, theatrical melody.

The YouTubers make Minecraft parodies of popular songs. When they meet CaptainSparklez, for example, he mentions tunes like Revenge and Fallen Kingdom.

Basically, Cassie Rose, who sings evil showtunes, turns this stop into Murder Mystery the Musical.

Episode 7

OK im kinda reworking it but

he's definitely a bit meaner and ruder in the beginning in the baan timeline as opposed to how he is in the normal one. he has a bad habit of being really shitty behind people's backs - talking bad about them, spreading awful rumors, etc. most of the reason he's like this is bc hes still very much a coward and he knows if he talked bad abt someone like axel to his face he would be inventory in no time flat.

he struggles a lot more with jealousy and anger in baan and hes under the belief that like. both everybody is better than him but he's also better than everyone else so like why dont ppl like him! and he really just. internalizes that so bad man.

the admin legends are a lot more well-known among more than just villagers here, too, and wulf thinks if he can prove himself worthy that the admin will make him one too or at least give him more power, like something along the lines of an old builder maybe.

ALSO something important that ive decided to change in baan specifically is that he does tag along with the blaze rods in the beginning. so hes actually a part of the blaze rods in the beginning of the episode.

it starts off mostly like normal, jesse and the order of the pigs find the flint and steel and the blaze rods are outside to meet them after they leave. aiden and wulf both like. equally and rudely taunt them like normal, except abt half way thru aiden and wulf get into a fist fight and wulf storms off after saying fuck the blaze rods. the other blaze rods and the ootp are like hey uh what the hell and aiden gill and maya stalk off.

at the temple again when they bring ivor along, they're originally just intercepted by the blaze rods who grab a hold of the flint and steel. but before they can go through the portal, wulf drops down from a hole in the ceiling, tackling aiden and grabbing the flint and steel and running off through the portal. everyone, blaze rods, jesse, ivor, petra, lukas, they all look at each other and decide "yeah we should probably just team up this once" and chase after him

in sky city wulfric convinces isa that there are bad people chasing him who want to take over sky city and is just. hamming it up that the blaze rods and the pigs are Not Good People. the others get to sky city and the MOMENT wulfric notices them he's calling them out. ivor, lukas, gill and maya get taken to the dungeon while aiden, jesse, milo and petra manage to avoid getting captured.

wulf taunts the ones in the dungeon before slinking off to be with isa again, but like in the normal game both the ones in the dungeon and the others who werent captured get to the throne room and to the chests underneath with the eggs. isa catches them, but is quickly incapacitated by wulf because he throws ??? i dont wanna say a creeper egg but some sort of hostile mob, maybe a couple cave spiders. isa, jesse, lukas and aiden end up getting punted off the side of the island while wulf makes an escape up to the throne room again, leaving mobs in his wake and causing petra, ivor, gill and maya specifically to be the ones to take the mobs down.

lukas still breaks his arm and aiden stays with him to help him while isa and jesse go back up to stop him. jesse confronts him and wulf is shocked and angry. he screams that he was supposed to be dead, and that /he/ (wulf) is going to take over sky city and prove to jesse, the blaze rods, the admin and EVERYBODY that he /deserves/ this.

wulf is cornered at the edge of sky city, but before jesse can do anything, he steps back off the edge and just lets himself plummet. wulf lands in the pool and manages to scramble out of the water before being tackled and held down by aiden, screaming and kicking and throwing hands around to try and get free. jesse and the rest of sky city manage to ride down the waterfall into the water and wulf is taken in by the guards, promising to jesse and the rest of them that when he gets out he's going to make them regret this

the rest of the ep kind of plays out as normal except now the blaze rods are along for the ride in the portal arc and thats a whole other post in of itself but hehe

Begin Again (Mortician!Steve and Baker!Bucky Modern “Moving On” AU)

Fifteen:

The endorphins that filled Steve from spending a half hour with Bucky left him feeling high, and stayed with him for the next week. Causing him to cheerfully whistle as he got ready for his day. Causing him to run faster with Vinnie on their morning runs. Causing him to give Vinnie an extra treat because he was such a good boy, yes he was. Causing him to dance between working on the bodies in the morgue.

By Monday, Eddie had noticed. On Tuesday, he had commented. Come Wednesday, Steve had agreed to babysit Birdie, so Cliff and Julie could go on an impromptu date. And on Thursday, Steve had wondered if it was too soon to stop by the cake shop. Of course, on Friday, Steve had regained his logical side and decided against going to see Bucky. He didn't want to seem pathetic, after all.

Surprised to find that his good mood had lasted until Saturday, Steve had decided to pick up an old hobby. Sure, most of his paints had either gone moldy or dried out. But he still had a few sketchbooks that had some empty pages left. And his colored pencils were still good. Albeit broken. But still usable.

Losing himself in his free afternoon, he didn't realize what time it was until he went to take Vinnie out again. Instead of simply letting him out to potty, he led the Weimaraner to his car. Technically, it had been Nat's first, but Steve wasn't going to lift his nose about receiving a hand-me-down car, much less when it was a Lexus.

Driving across town to the suburb where his friends lived, Steve possibly sped. Nothing too fast, but faster than was suggested. Vinnie didn't seem to mind though as he hung his head out the window. Tongue lulling out of his open mouth and happily panting the whole ride there.

Parking along the curb, Steve led Vinnie through the gate and up the path to the front door. Letting himself in, Steve was greeted by sounds of young boys loudly playing pretend further into the house. Presumably, the family room.

"Prepare to meet your doom!" Natasha theatrically exclaimed.

Steve grinned as he toed off his shoes. Vinnie, the good boy that he was, sat there beside him as he eagerly waited for the go-ahead. Gesturing towards the sound, Steve allowed, "Go on."

"Nat, sweetie," Sam called as he climbed down the staircase. Expertly maneuvering around stuffed animals, toy cars, baseball gloves, and plastic knight shields on his way down. All while fastening his cufflinks and reminding, "We're going to be late for our reservations."

"Aw, come on," the boys chorused as Nattie made her way to the front door. The three boys following mournfully behind her, holding onto her hands and waist while tugging at her black dress. Well, they were until they saw…

"Uncle Steve!" The boys excitedly exclaimed as they left Natasha for Steve. Grabbing onto his limbs and tugging on him as though he was a jungle gym.

"Now, are you gonna be good?" Sam questioned.

"They're always good," Steve defended the three boys, managing to use his hard-won muscles to physically lift the twins in the air as they dangled from his biceps like earrings.

"I was asking you," Sam teased as he sat on the stairs to tie his laces.

As Nat slipped on her black pumps, she smirked up at Steve, "You, uh, planning on chopping some logs later?"

Playfully, Steve rolled his eyes. Was he wearing a flannel specifically after talking to Bucky? Yes. Was it because Bucky admitted to liking men in flannels? Also, very distinctly, yes. Not that Steve was going to tell them that.

"You have a crush," Natasha correctly assumed, pleased with this new piece of information.

Blushing, Steve lied, "No, I don't."

"Yes, you do," Natasha argued. Poking his chest, she reminded, "And you're a shit liar."

"I would tell you to put a quarter in the Swear Jar," Sam stood from the stairs and helped Natasha slip into her jacket, "But I'm much more interested in this. Who do you have a crush on, Steve?"

"What's a crush?" Axel asked, trying to use more of his insignificant body weight to his advantage. Steve had to give it to the five year old, he was trying his hardest.

"It's what Nattie has on Daddy," the wiser, seven year old, Blaze, answered.

"No, it's what Daddy has on Nattie," the youngest of them, Knox, argued to simply be argumentative.

"You're both right," Sam appeased while Natasha answered Axel in a way that he would understand, "It's when someone thinks another person is cute."

Good-naturedly shoving at Steve's shoulder, Natasha demanded, "Now, spill!"

The blush creeping up his ears, Steve deflected, "You're gonna miss your reservations."

"Ooh, he's right," Sam confirmed, making sure he had his wallet and keys. Finding them in his pockets, he started ushering Natasha towards the door. On their way, he told Steve, "The baked ziti is already in the oven and the garlic bread will need to go in ten minutes from now."

"Thank you," Steve gushed gratefully.

"We're not done with this conversation, Rogers," Nat called as she left the house.

"She's right though," Sam conceded, closing the door behind them as he told Steve, "Not even pretending to fall asleep on the couch will get you out of this one."

With the boys still hanging off him, Steve started shuffling further into the house. Choosing the clearest path down the hallway to the kitchen as he asked the boys, "What do you guys wanna do tonight?"

"Watch Goosebumps!" Blaze excitedly suggested, stopping his tugging on Steve's gray undershirt and letting go of Steve's waist.

"Bake cupcakes!" Knox loudly debated, dropping from Steve's right bicep.

Since Axel didn't say anything, Steve used his brawn and swung the five year old up into his arms as he questioned, "What about you?"

Axel shrugged, so Steve decided to tickle him. As he wiggled in Steve's arms, Axel finally offered, "Arts and crafts!"

Smiling, Steve leaned forward and kissed Axel's forehead before setting him back down on the ground. Steadying him, Steve rubbed the kid's back and stopped in the entry way. Finding that the cushions had been removed from the furniture and were stacked precariously and covered with mismatched sheets.

Letting out a deep exhale, Steve reasoned, "We should clean this up first."

"Uncle Steve," the boys whined. Adding, "This isn't fun," and, "Why can't we leave it?" All the while helping Steve tear down the unsteady fort.

Folding the sheets, Steve negotiated, "We'll build another one. A sturdier one."

With that, the three boys' energies renewed. Replacing the cushions. Some not in their correct places. But that was alright. Steve would fix them later. All he cared about now was having the room in some order. It would make cleaning up at the end of the night easier.

Clapping his hands together to regain the boys' attention, Steve questioned, "Who wants to help me get dinner ready?"

"Me!" The boys chorused as they excitedly hopped around and followed Steve into the kitchen.

Minecraft Story Mode July AU Countdown

Minecraft Story Mode has multiple AUs, and this is a month-long countdown dedicated to celebrating it! Some AUs are fandom specific, some are just fun general concepts for AUs, and each one will be a blast to see explored. Art, writing, cosplay, other creative measures- anything goes!

July 1: Modern AU

AU wherein Mcsm characters exist in a more modern world and/or with more modern/advanced technology and means of living than shown in the series.

July 2: Actor AU

Mcsm characters are actually just actors who are filming a choose-your-own-adventure style movie where there are different scenes depending on the audience’s choices. The actors have their own lives and may get along well / have their own bonds regardless of character relationships. Many shenanigans ensue both on and off set.

July 3: Hogwarts AU

The characters are wizards in a magical world, potentially learning at Hogwarts or enjoying the broader world beyond it.

July 4: Order Swap AU

Ivor, Ellegaard, and Magnus are all excited for the upcoming Endercon competition, where they could win a chance to see Petra the Warrior in person. However, it doesn’t take long for things to go wrong due the surprise appearance of someone named Jesse, who’s got a bit of a grudge and a command block... (The two Orders are reversed in roles and stories. Other characters may likewise be moved or swapped.)

July 5: Hybrids AU

In a world where full humans see themselves as “more normal” and superior to the animalistic hybrids around them, it’s up to a bunch of scrappy hybrids to save the day. (AU created by @warning-heckmouth. Jesse and the rest of the new Order are all hybrids, part human and part animal, with Lukas hiding his traits and Soren having wiped the old Order of theirs in an effort to seem normal.)

July 6: Sky AU

While uniting the floating islands, Isa comes across an abandoned baby. This baby is Jesse, and Isa takes Jesse in as her own. Many years later, while Jesse lives as the Founder’s child, the Blaze Rods and Order of the Stone arrive at Sky City, and neither Jesse or Isa’s life will ever be quite the same. (Created by @jesseoftheorder. Lukas is part of the Order at this point, Axel and Olivia arrive at Sky City with Ivor, Petra, and Lukas, and the Order stopped the Witherstorm without Jesse.)

July 7 (Saturday): Off Day

July 8: Order Villains AU

What if the Order was more like how Aiden described them to Isa? What if they were just as vile and dangerous and wasteful as warned? (The new Order of the Stone are villains intent on misusing the Eversource while the Blaze Rods are genuinely trying to help Sky City from suffering the same fate as their own world.)

July 9: Demigods AU

The new Order of the Stone (and/or potentially other characters) are partly the children of powerful gods, each having powers based on the abilities of their godly parent.

July 10: Witherstorm Connection AU

Everyone was more than happy to believe any traces of the Witherstorm died with it. However, it turns out an unexpected side effect of nearly being used up as energy is a never before experienced sharing of emotions and more through a benevolent but confusing hive mind. (Those captured/influenced by the Witherstorm have the ability to hear the thoughts of others who were also affected.)

July 11: Benders AU

Mcsm characters exist in a world akin to Avatar the Last Airbender and/or are able to bend and use certain elements at will.

July 12: Withersickness AU

Despite the fact that Jesse, and possibly others, had more exposure to the Witherstorm’s beams, Petra/Gabriel seems to be the only one who suffers from the withersickness. At least at first... (Jesse [and/or another member of the group] ends up with withersickness.)

July 13: Supernatural AU

It might be hard to think the world of Minecraft could get much more magical, but nothing is as it seems. (Various characters are supernatural entities and/or exist in a world filled with such entities and properties.)

July 14 (Saturday): Off Day

July 15: Fairy Tale AU

Mcsm characters exist in a fairy tale world and/or are living out the roles of characters in fairy tales.

July 16: Role Swap AU

The Order members may all be the same, but in this AU, the Order members don’t quite fill the same roles. Axel happens to be a redstone engineer while Olivia’s a griefer bent on causing some form of mayhem, for example. (AU where the roles of various characters are switched.)

July 17: Super Hero AU

For various reasons, some people in the mcsm universe are born with and/or later gain incredible abilities that they use to protect and help people.

July 18: Hadrian’s Deal AU

Jesse, in yet another moment of misguided heroism, decides not to tell the other about their deal with Hadrian and throws the games so they can go free. Surprisingly Hadrian keeps end of the bargain leaving Jesse in the mines and the rest of the new order in the portals with no way of getting home.

July 19: Western AU

The good, the bad, the ugly, all of it from mcsm but adapted to a much more western frontier style setting.

July 20: Reuben Lives AU

The title says it all. AU where everything is pretty much the same except Reuben is alive after episode 4.

July 21 (Saturday): Off Day

July 22: Admin AU

One or more mcsm characters find themselves with admin powers, or have always been admins, for any number of possible reasons. How they use their powers and what for can be just as varied and uncertain.

July 23: Mythical Creatures AU

Various characters are mythical animals or creatures.

July 24: Command Block Pocket Dimension AU

Ivor’s too big of a risk for Soren to just let him go. Soren’s already got experience with removing obstacles using the Command Block, and since there happens to be a nice little pocket dimension inside where everything it removes is kept, it can be like Ivor never left them. Not that Soren will tell the others where Ivor really went, of course. (Created by @gateaugrimoire. Ivor and the Enderdragon fuse to create an odd hybrid creature determined to save the other members from Soren.)

July 25: Apocalypse AU

Jesse’s world was already interesting before it all decided to end, and now it’s a battle to survive what seems like brutal Armageddon with the people met along the way.

July 26:  Children AU

The New Order gang are children rather than adults in the witherstorm timeline trying to navigate what might be the literal apocalypse in the from and the Old Order are adults who are all, including Ivor, very conflicted about having a group so young tag along on the quest to stop the end of the world as they know it. July 27: Gem/Fusion AU

Various (if not all) characters are gems in the style of Steven Universe or are otherwise able to fuse.

July 28 (Saturday): Off Day

July 29: Ghost Hunters AU

Mcsm characters are a part of a team of paranormal investigators exploring haunted places, similar to Ghost Adventures or Unsolved: Supernatural and other similar shows.

July 30: Youtuber AU

Instead of saving worlds from terrifying monsters and eccentric criminals, the new Order and other Mcsm characters are helping people through a variety of diverse but fun videos and youtube shenanigans.

July 31: Free Day

Mentally Disturbed || Drabble

-{Okay, so, this is kind of a continuation of the whole thing with meeting Ayaka... although I will warn you, it’s a lot darker than the previous one. There are reasons for that... you’ll find out soon enough.

“Wait... you want to examine him while he’s asleep?” The blonde blinked, tilting his head.

Ayaka waved a hand at him. “Oh, he’d have to be in a deeper sleep than he usually is in... sleeping pills should do the trick.”

“...Do you mind if I ask why?”

Her expression turned to a more thoughtful one. “...I have some suspicions that I want to confirm with him, and it would be best if he was in a deep sleep for it.”

Axel just looked skeptical. “Suspicions like what?”

The oldest immortal eyed him for a moment. “I would rather see if I am correct before I tell you. If what I suspect is true...” Her expression darkened. “...that bastard has a lot to answer for.”

That had a worried expression crossing Axel’s face. If it had anything to do with Joker’s father, it couldn’t be anything good. “I’ll help where I can.”

Ayaka nodded. “Good. It should be easy to get him to fall asleep in your lap, he seems to like that, and we’ll go from there.”

“What about the sleeping pills?”

“I’ll put it in his drink, he won’t notice.”

Sure enough, around an hour later Joker was sleeping very soundly with his head on Axel’s lap in probably one of the deepest periods of sleep he’d ever been in, the blonde running his fingers through that fluffy hair partly out of habit and partly because he liked the feel of it. Despite the curls, it was actually surprisingly soft and it was hard to stop once he started running his hands through it.

“I told you it’d work,” Ayaka told him once she approached, watching her nephew sleeping peacefully for a change with an almost fond smile on her face for a moment before letting out an almost quiet sigh. “Seeing him like that almost makes me not want to do this, but if what I suspect is right... in the end, it might actually help him.”

Axel looked down at him, frowning a little himself but eventually moving out from under him and laying him flat on the bed he was currently on, though he stayed sitting on the bed next to him. It had Joker stirring minutely, but aside from that, he didn’t seem to react at all, not even when Ayaka moved to stand at the side of the bed his head was facing and put her hands on either side of his head.

Letting out a heavy sigh, she closed her eyes and concentrated, going completely motionless as though in a trance, Axel watching the both of them carefully. He just hoped nothing went wrong...

The two of them stayed like that for hours, with either Joker’s or Ayaka’s eyebrows occasionally furrowing or twitching, Nebs actually coming into the room to join Axel in watching them and keeping him company, and the two of them were in the middle of playing Go Fish when Axel caught movement and noticed Joker’s face looking particularly distressed.

“....Not.... not that...” came the mumbled words that followed, the blonde looking worried as it worsened, setting his cards down and moving over to him to take Joker’s hand in his own. “Can’t... can’t go back... not there...”

Ayaka, meanwhile, seemed to be pulling back to herself, and gradually Joker seemed to calm down again until he was back to sleeping peacefully until finally she jerked awake with a gasp and withdrew her hands like they had just been burned, a look of shock in her eyes for a moment though it quickly gave way to rage. Nebula quickly headed over to her to help her stay upright as she stumbled backward and away from her nephew.

“You okay, Auntie Aya?” Nebs asked, blinking up at the woman with a worried expression.

“....I am going to kill that bastard,” she growled out after a moment, fury blazing in her golden eyes. “How dare he! And to his own son, too!”

“Auntie Aya?”

She seemed to come back to herself and looked around for a moment, righting herself and offering a smile to her grand niece. “I’m okay, little one, thank you.”

Nebula just beamed at her before heading back over to the bed to sit in her previous spot, though Axel stayed next to Joker, who now had furrowed eyebrows that wouldn’t smooth out.

“What is it?” Axel asked her finally, a worried look on his face.

She let out a sigh in an attempt to calm herself as she eyed the still-sleeping Joker. “It was worse than I thought it was. I expected that bastard to have messed with his head with spells, but actually weaving them into his memories is another thing entirely. No wonder the kid’s so averse to using his real name.” She shook her head. “That’s going to take hell to remove... I’m surprised he got out of it though, he definitely inherited his mother’s willpower.”

Axel stared at her for a minute, Nebula looking confused. “Wait... his father did what?”

She moved to settle into a chair, looking almost exhausted. “His bastard of a father laced his real name with a strong spell that would force him into a specific mindset when it was spoken, and rather than just being a spell in his head, that asshole was clever enough to actually weave it into every memory associated with the name as well.” The fury blazed in her eyes again. “I am going to kill him.”

Axel blinked, thinking back to the times Joker had flinched when even just his first name had spoken, and it wasn’t long before anger rose with it. “...I knew he was bad, but I never knew about this.”

“Neither did he, though he knew something was wrong with it, or else he wouldn’t have fought through it like he had.” She let out a sigh, settling a bit further into the chair. “Now it’s beginning to make sense...”

The warden moved a bit closer to his boyfriend, running his hand through that fluffy hair again. “Can you remove it?”

She turned golden eyes to him. “I can, but it’s very risky.”

“How risky?”

She was silent for a moment. “...There is a chance that he might lose his memory and a very small chance of that that it might be permanent.”

That had his hand pausing in fluffy brown hair as it sank in. Joker with memory loss?

“I can tell you I will try my damnedest to make sure the permanent memory loss doesn’t happen, but these are his memories we’re talking about, there likely will be temporary memory loss as his mind readjusts them. Once that’s over, I can assure you, you’ll get him back.” She watched him for a moment. “We don’t have to do it right away, but his willpower against that spell can’t hold out forever.”

Violet eyes shifted to meet vibrant gold. “Can you give me time to talk to him about it?”

A smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. “Of course, kiddo, he deserves to know about it as much as you do. You may want to explain it to your little one, too.”

Nebula, throughout the entire conversation, had looked very thoroughly lost, but she did get the fact that it could be bad and it had her looking worried and with a hand clinging to her papa’s jacket.

“I will... she needs to know too.”

Ok so actor au ( I had to remember eventually, aren’t you all so happy)

Gabriel is married, he and his wife are taking care of their 3 year old granddaughter while their son and daughter in law are away for work

She is a joy to have around the set and everyone loves her

she will however walk on set at any given time for no reason

more then a few bloopers have her walking on set or trying to talk to Gabriel or uncle Magnus

He is tired 400% of the time due to how early he has to wake up for make up

he takes frequent naps with his grandaughter

everyone thinks this is the most adorable thing ever

He has the hardest time ever seeing in the red contact lenses

He’s become a meme simply by triping over things wearing them

Magnus is an unmarried man who has adopted 5 children

Nohr (the boomtown resident that steals the amulet from Jesse) and Clutch (the pink haired gladiator) are two of his children

Nohr is the eldest of Magnus’ children and Clutch will constantly tease her about being shorter then her baby sister

All of Magnus’ children call Gabriel uncle

Magnus and Gabriel met as children as extras on a TV show

They were supposed to be in the one scene but the audience fell in love with them and they made repeat appearances and have stayed friends their entire lives

the scene was a food fight scene

Magnus has disappeared several times on the green screen

Ellegaard was recently remarried and did not appear later in the movie due to the fact that she was visibly pregnant and they could not hide her stomach

Magnus also did not make an appearance due to chemotherapy treatments

Ellegaard is actually married to one of the camera men 

conveniently he is also Soren’s favorite person to dance with

Her new step son thinks she’s kinda cool but don’t tell anyone

Soren is unmarried and single

Good luck with him because Petra is an overprotective daughter and you will never get past her to flirt with her dad

even if he flirts with you first

Every song you hear is 1000% improvised

he claims to be a much better singer then what everyone has seen but no one believes him

Ivor is unmarried and happily single and not looking forward to mingling

he did however donate sperm to one of his closest friends so she and her wife could have a child

Ivor frequently brings along said child to the set as his niece

Ivor frequently gets ahold of balloons and inhails the helium before a take to get everyone to laugh

he usually picks the most serious scene he can

There is not 1 Jesse but 6, er well technically there’s none. Jesse was just a name everyone agreed on

all of their names start with J anyways so it isn’t that far of a stretch

All of the Jesse’s are related to one another in one way or another

1st and 3rd female Jesse’s are actually identical twins (it is a thing that can actually happen)

2nd female and 3rd male Jesse are siblings 

1st and 3rd male Jesse’s are only children and cousins to the rest of them

All of them are pretty short, the film crew used editing, lifts, stilts and boxes to make all the Jesse’s to appear the same height

All of them look very similar so very little makeup needs to be done

They will at any given point use the “Jesse voice” on any cast or crew members

3rd female Jesse is actually the one who came up with the revenge line when talking to Aiden

She did the line so well that Aiden is now scared of her and refuses to go near her

This is Olivia’s first role and true to her character she takes tips from Ellegaard about what to expect

She is actually terrible with redstone and is glad that most of the work she has to do involving redstone is done off screen

she spends nearly 30 minuets alone trying to get her pigtails poofy enough

even longer when she’s wearing her helmet

Axel is pretty excited for his role and confident in his abilities

he’s only sad because he didn’t get to blow more stuff up

when he first saw the glass helmet he had to wear he laughed for ten minuets at how ridiculous it was and how he looked in it

he loves it and will be stealing it when filming is done

He is actually very close friends with Aiden

Petra worked out weeks for her role

she will take any and all opportunities to show off her strength

doing so has nearly given Soren a heart attack

she will frequently carry Gabriel to his marker when he is wearing contacts despite the protest of every other single person on set including Gabriel himself

Super over protective of Soren and if she even gets a hint of flirting she is there staring you down

her eyes say I will end you and no one believes any different

Soren is mostly oblivious to all of this

Lukas is an absolute prema-donna

He’s always worried about his hair and his outfit

he carries around a comb and hairspray and constantly fixes other people’s hair between takes

he can’t bring himself to look at Soren’s horrible mop

it was actually his idea to have Axel fall on him

he made sure he was wearing extra padding for those scenes

All the Jesse’s like to scare him with pama lines and red contacts

he swears he’s had a heart attack and will hide in his trailer

There is not in fact 1 Ruben but 2

when one of the pigs gets tired they bring in the other so they can keep filming

no pigs were harmed in the making of this movie

seriously everyone on set loves the both of them and the handlers have to remind everyone to stop giving them food

Aiden is a frequent to minor roles in movies

he constantly jokes with Axel about how disappointed he’d be if he said these things to Axel in real life and didn’t get punched for it

Actually stole lost both the ocelot and blaze rod jackets

Maya and Gill are literally never apart from each other

every movie every scene every line

If one of them gets sick the other stays and refuses to be seen without them

Gill is the only one to have actually paid for his jackets

The director wrote the role of Isa specifically for Isa

they’re sisters and no one else could fill the role of bossy leader better then Isa

she has never and will never let Isa know she said that

Milo and Isa are engaged to be married and will plan the ceremony between takes

Milo is only there because he didn’t want to sleep on the couch

seriously, he’s not an actor but Isa doesn't go back on her threats

Milo has hit himself in the head with the prop sword on multiple occasions

Isa always laughs at him

Both Milo and Isa have fallen in love with Benedict and want to take her home

The youtubers are actually just youtubers 

they were all super excited to be in a movie and said yes in a heartbeat

Stampy’s sweatshirt was cutome made for the role and he absolutely loves it

he wants 100 

Cassie is allergic to cat fur and has to take allergy medication to even step foot on set

she does love cats though and wants to get a hairless one

Hadrian is the nicest man you will ever meet. He donates to charities and always vominteirs for stuff

he’s always talking about prop safety when dealing with all these kids

he thinks the swords are two sharp

he stops after every take to make sure no one is actually hurt

took first aid classes when he found out he was working with so many young people

has his own first aid kit thats more then twice as big as any on set

He’s married to Harper and thinks its hilarious that Ivor’s character has a crush on his wife

Ivor was super awkward around them when he read about his attraction to her 

Both of them thought it was cute and really like talking to Ivor

they have like 10 kids and a bunch of grand kids

there’s no use counting them if there’s still more coming

Slab and Herzog (Nell and Em’s teammate) are his grandson’s

Harper is the only redstone person who actually knows about redstone

she did a bunch of research about the role

she kept correcting the script so much that the writers just put redstone mumbo-jumbo whenever she’s supposed to talk about it 

Would not hesitate to smack Hadrian if he ever pulled this in real life

was very upset when her grandson offered to do his own stunts

she had a fire extinguisher ready if he needed it

Mevia dyed her hair for the part and is going to keep it

she’s spent over $50 on hair care products to make it look fabulous and still be healthy

She can’t walk in heels and went with flats while in her dress

She nearly broke her leg walking in heels

Nell, Em and Herzog actually became very close friends

Nell fakes the surfer accent

She has vines where she goes up to someone eating a sandwitch and says thats some epic lofeage

Em has flex off’s with the other gladiators and Axel

The director is so done with all of them and is not paid enough

people from other sets keep stealing all their props

Everyone has their own social media account and posts about the movie and behind the scenes

Some people are better then other’s with technology

Hadrian has no idea what he’s doing but somehow he’s doing it right

Embarrassing tag wars are a thing and they happen frequently

Isa and Milo have an account together and most of their pictures of Benedict 

A fan may or may not have started a petition to get them a chicken

It’s completely full on signatures and neither of them know it exists
