here’s the thing about me + lockwood content

before lockwood & co. i wasn’t really in the mood for editing. yes, i did come up with videos and photo edits but i wasn’t really enjoying it much. it was the same all over again. a new episode - a new video. don’t get me wrong, i loved the show (still do, it’s magnum p.i. i’m talking about) but i’ve been editing that for years now. 

every now and again a show was coming back with a new season. the umbrella academy for example. i did my usual “new season = one edit with number 5“ and then stopped (because there’s not really much content to use when there’s 50 main characters and you’re only willing to sit down to edit one of them). 

then outer banks came back, i thought “hey, time for a new rafe edit“. he wasn’t in it much. i didn’t come up with a video. fine, okay, back to magnum p.i. (which i still LOVE to death, don’t get me wrong, i would always come up with edits, it’s my 2nd favorite show now) but sometimes it’s nice to have different characters to work with. 

wednesday was released and i really liked that, especially tyler. i made some photo edits and a few videos (4 or something). and what then? back to the old routine? 

no, lockwood & co. was out. i remembered i had seen the trailer a while ago and liked it so i clicked ‘play‘. and look where we are now. i don’t know the last time one character has sparkled any interested in me and got me this motivated. a new one as well, might i add. i don’t do well with new characters since i always have to kinda let them get to me first, you know. it’s quite the process, too, when you want to edit. you have to get the episodes, the scenes you wanna use, you have to select 0.04 seconds from episode 1 and then 0.02 seconds from episode 8 because you think they could work really well together. so it’s a lot to think about even for short videos or photo edits (find the right episode for a certain scene, take screenshots, have ideas of what you wanna do with that screenshot, find good fonts, effects,…) i think you get me. it takes a lot of dedication (for me) to accept a character. and it’s not like i don’t like most of them. i like a lot. for example i’ve enjoyed characters from titans, fate: the winx saga, the sandman, hsmtmts and so on. 

so, what i usually do when i watch a new show is play it in the background. i don’t know any character - i’m not interested in any of them. i press ‘play’ and scroll through instagram or twitter. however with lockwood & co., i didn’t. i had my phone sitting right next to me but i didn’t click on instagram. i didn’t click on twitter. i actually watched the show from the first second on. for some reason it was very special to me, i can’t explain it. it felt like i had found THE show (and character) for me. the one show that could get me back into editing, actually loving what i do and create. and it did. look where i am now. 

i’m very emotional about this, i cannot even find proper words to express how thankful i am for all of this. i wake up in the morning and am excited about the evening because that’s the time of day i 1) have time to re-watch the show 2) read the books (again) or 3) edit. so this whole saving campaign is not only a matter of stopping netfl** bullshit with unnecessary cancelations, it’s also a matter of heart for me. lockwood & co. is my comfort show. i’ve found it after so many years and i didn’t even know i needed one but i did. lockwood & co. is not your ‘typical ghost show’. lockwood is not your typical good-looking, dick-ish protagonist, he’s way more. he’s the reason i’m doing all of this. i’m trying my best to help with whatever i can because they all deserve to come back for at least one more season. so, every day i stay up until 3-4am, get up at 9am the same day and i don’t regret a single thing. i wanna do this. and i know we can all help them get a new season, together.  

it’s been four months (and two days) since the release of lockwood & co. in these four months i’ve been the most creative i’ve ever been, i’ve met the most kind people on social media and i’ve never loved editing more than i do now. and all thanks to anthony lockwood.

i feel like we as a fandom tend to either over uwuify klapollo or over stoicify them and this is by no means a real character analysis or genuine conversation because it is 4am for me and i’m not very good at articulating myself i don’t actually care that much i’m in fandom spaces i’m used to mischaracterising bullshit but

why does it seem to be the only options are “apollo is an actual child and klavier is sexy and suave” or “apollo doesn’t experience emotions and klavier is a cringefail babygirl”. like genuinely can they not both be people.

i feel like a lot of the infantilisng apollo stuff is partially the usual fandom short man = yaoi bottom shit but i’m not gonna sit here and pretend it isn’t also bc of the transmasc apollo headcanon. like it can’t be a coincidence that the most infantilised grown man in the game is also the one that’s most widely headcanoned as ftm. like it feels like a lot of it is your typical uwu short trans uke baby x big strong suave tall hot cis seme and i’m used to that but man it sucks to see people making weird shit about Flustered Virgin apollo getting his first ever kiss from Playboy klavier and. y’all know he’s 25 right? not 15?

there’s also the other side of things where people make klavier into this cringefail babygirl boyfailure who’s hopelessly in love with apollo and spends every waking moment thinking about apollo and can’t do anything without relating it to apollo and apollo just fucking does not like him. and that’s almost worse because at least the first kind of mischaracterisation still feels like a ship. why are we pretending apollo doesn’t care about klavier. he doesn’t like his boy band music but it’s not personal. he still likes klavier.

and then there’s the ones who take one half of the mischaracterising and applies it to both characters. apollo is an uwu baby and klavier is a soyboy and they can’t spend a second apart because they’re so in love. OR they’re both robots who might as well not even be dating with how little they speak to each other.

y’all know you can make them act normal, right? they can be in love with each other and silly about it and also be serious characters? apollo is a dork ass who cracks jokes and is bitchy but he’s also a genuinely smart guy like he’s a lawyer he’s a politician he’s helping rebuild a whole country’s legal system from the ground up and he’s still a bitch and a loser. klavier is ALSO a bitch and a loser and a smart guy. he’s kind, but he’s not a wimp. he’s bitchy but he’s not insufferable. he’s passionate about music and law and everything he talks about. and he says corny shit and openly flirts with apollo but he’s also a damn good prosecutor and id argue he’s the only one who actually understands his job without the defense having to Fix Him tm. and they can both love each other and be all these things.

for a lot of y’all there’s only two options: klavier has trauma (excruciating) (all encompassing) or klavier is silly :3. and like. he can do both. you can acknowledge his trauma and also acknowledge he’s a dumbass who air guitars during court. human beings are multifaceted and fictional characters should reflect that. you gotta make the people you’re writing feel like people yes even the japanese visual novel people.

back to the living each other thing. klavier can openly flirt with apollo and also actually like him. apollo can ignore klavier’s first flirts and still actually like him. maybe he doesn’t wanna get it with the brother of his murderous boss while investigating a crime scene i think that’s reasonable of him. but he also clearly likes and cares about klavier as a person (“i have to pull the darkness out of him” or whatever he says) so just because he didn’t immediately throw himself at klavier the second he hit him with the never felt this way with a man doesn’t mean he’s annoyed by klavier’s flirting it just means it wasn’t the right time. apollo can hate the gavineers shitty music and still love the man who sung it. he can think klavier’s office is ugly and still love him. i don’t love every single thing about the people i love but i still love them. if my qpp made a dog shit song i hated i would tell him bc he and i understand each other.

Hi Aren, I would actually like to ask you a question about pet snakes. I've had a 75 gallon tank sitting around and I've been thinking of getting a hamster or snake. What's your experience been so far, because I do know that snakes can live quite a long time, compared to a two year hamster. I wouldn't want to have a pet I can't care for. How difficult has it been with juniper? Should I get a snake?

I was going to type out a very long, detailed response to this, considering how passionately I feel about snakes, but then I realized something, which is that I do not know very much about hamsters other than they are extremely cute and also extremely violent and typically unhandleable. So instead I will tell you my experience with owning a snake, after a preliminary warning that a 75 gallon glass tank is far too small for a ball python and is generally unsuitable for a high-humidity species (but is plenty big to house many other pet snakes that make perfect beginner reptiles! Anything under 4 feet would work, really)

First off: Juniper is by far the easiest animal that I have ever cared for, which is a list that includes parrots, rabbits, tropical fish, and to some extent, horses. Pretty much all of the work with caring for a snake is in setting up their enclosure and making sure their temps/humidity are all perfect, which is only stressful if you didn't make sure to do it a good week or so before you pick up your little noodle. IF you do everything correctly and have triple-checked to ensure that all the temperatures are perfect, the humidity remains stable, and all the exit points are snakeproofed (if they can get their snout through, they can get the rest of their body through), then you should be good to go.

Maintenance then consists of cleaning their water bowl once a week, filling it when needed, spot cleaning substrate when they poop (which you WILL notice; snakes are scentless but their scat is not), feeding them when needed, and doing a monthly deep clean where you scoop everything out, wipe it all down with a snake-safe cleaning solution, and then put in fresh substrate. Those will be the basics for all snakes; it's not exactly rocket science with these lil lads. They need species-specific care, of course, but at least in my experience with ball pythons, the species-specific care tends to all be in the setup

That being said:

-Juniper does not like being handled. She likes coming out to explore, as far as I can tell, and she tolerates me most of the time, but do not get a snake if you want something that will feel affection for you. I have no idea if hamsters bond with their owners, given as most species I've heard of are solitary. However, I will say that snakes are far more handleable than hamsters are and far less likely to bite you (generally speaking; I have never been bitten by Juniper, but I have been many times by my birds and rabbit). Their bites will also always be much less painful than a hamster bite, because they lack the jaw strength to make it significant. With the smaller ones, their teeth might not even manage to puncture your skin.

-Figuring out how to feed can be a bit of a learning curve. Assuming you're feeding frozen-thawed- which you should- and have no problem with feeding dead mice- which you shouldn't- figuring out the size you need to feed your snake can be a bit tricky, especially if they're a rapidly-growing baby who will need to move up in size very quickly. You'll get an eye for it eventually, and snakes are pretty forgiving as long as the food isn't too big for them to handle, but I would recommend getting a kitchen scale and finding a feeding chart that does a percent by weight analysis if you don't feel confident enough in the 'same size or slightly thicker than the thickest part of your snake' rule

-I pretty much never see Juniper before 8, sometimes not at all on certain nights. Granted, this is because she is a nocturnal species who is most active around 3-4am, but snakes are also just shy creatures as a rule. If you have a good hide for them, you won't see them as often as you might like- though I WILL say that more active, diurnal species like colubrids will be seen more often than ball pythons, and that all snakes are pretty curious little creatures! Oftentimes when I see Juniper peek out at me from her hide, it's because she sensed me walking past and was curious about what I was doing.

-Snakes fart. And they fart loudly. It's not often, but when it happens, it can be terrifying before you realize what's going on. And yes, if you get a nocturnal species, this can and will happen at night.

-Snakes are not very well-loved pets. Expect to get some mixed results when/if admitting to owning one. Personally, I love this, because it drives away the people I don't want to deal with anyways (and keeps my dad from visiting), but if you're a sociable person, that might be a bummer

-Finding a good reptile vet can be extremely tricky. Look around first before you get a snake- the shortest lived pet species that I've heard of are the tricolour hognoses, and those last 8 years (though any pet deserves medical care, no matter the length of their life, I've found that the longer they live the more fuckery they get into). You want a reputable vet on hand before getting any exotic pet. The types of snakes recommended for beginners are pretty tough critters who likely won't get ill unless you mess up their enclosure (which again! check before you pick a noodle!), but it's always best to have a vet on hand, because again. Fuckery.

-Handling sessions are great, but you need to be careful not to scoop them up after they've eaten, because the stress might lead them to regurgitate on you, which is no fun for you and terrible for the snake. Also limit handling when they are in shed, as they are grumpy, itchy, blind, terrified of the world around them, and overall in a vulnerable state. Be careful when scooping them up before a feeding session, because some of them are very enthusiastic about their food and will just grab whatever is in front of them to try to nom on. Again, if you have a 4-foot snake or under, this will likely not be a big issue, but it might put them off food. Or not, if they're a kingsnake. Kingsnakes are great eaters, and will try to eat themselves just as readily as your hand, the tongs, or the mouse you're actually trying to feed them

-Don't get a petstore snake. You don't want a petstore snake. Yes, I got Junie from a reptile chain, but it was a well-maintained, privately owned store by people who really knew their shit and had a large selection of healthy hatchlings available, so I was willing to risk it. A petco or petsmart ball python, on the other hand? Those are farmed snakes, and that's a gamble. It's better to get from a breeder online or at a reptile expo than to buy from a store

-As you said, they can live LONG. I'm hoping for 30 years or over with miss Juniper, but that's a long commitment, and long commitments are a lot of responsibility. I'm lucky to have a mom and friends who'd happily snakesit if necessary, but do you?

Overall, I think that snakes are the lower-maintenance, easier pet to care for than hamsters, but keep in mind that I am very biased as a snakekeeper, both because I have a deep passion for reptiles and also because owning any animal with a 2-3 year lifespan would simply break my heart. If you don't want a long commitment, garter snakes or tricolour hognoses only live around 8-10 years, but if you change your mind, then there are a plethora of snakes that can comfortably live in a modified 75 gallon. Do your research first! Every pet has its pros and cons- I can't decide which is better for you, I can only tell you why Juniper works for me. (And hamster owners, feel free to chime in; I have no experience with the lil beasts other than what my mother told me, so I can't offer any insight into the benefits of their care. Multiple minds are better than one!)

this is rushed and it’s 4am, but @embracethechange asked me about charles crowley, an indy britwres guy i love, so i’m infodumping about him here:

crowley's fairly new to the wrestling scene. i think he's got about five years of in ring experience (the earliest stuff i can find is from early 2018), but personally i never knew about him until i saw him at progress during the online pandemic era.

it goes without saying that his entrance is what captures most people immediately. the lights go out and you hear his voice introducing himself and the audience to the show, it's presented in very carnival-like way and that's a big theme with his gimmick; it's showmanship and performance, it's fun and full of mischief, tomfoolery and shenaniganry (apparently that's a word).

he steps out in a spotlight and it's all very dramatic, but suddenly the music switches up into something funky and crowley will typically start violently gyrating as he makes his way to the ring, throwing out a few middle fingers to members of the audience. you get the sense that he's a twat, the spectacular twat™ <- and yeah, that's literally his nickname.

he hasn't been involved in much as far as feuds and storylines go, but the most notable thing was his partnership-turned-obsolescence storyline with elijah at progress. it essentially follows the known showman/circus trope: crowley goes from being elijah's incredibly annoying but charismatic little shit of a manager (crowley would enthusiastically introduce him before matches, would fuck around by shit-talking their opponents, he would interfere during matches to guarantee elijah would win... with what was probably a 53% success rate) to — after some wins, losses, miscommunications, unsuccessful interferences, etc — becoming rejected by elijah and labelled as useless and obsolete, and crowley resorts to exiling himself to work out how to fix things.

in his desperate attempts to prove to elijah he was still useful, crowley becomes obsessed with this conspiracy he's developed: if elijah faces an opponent he's never wrestled before and loses, he will always beat them in their second match. he presents all this data and all this information to him, but there's a reveal; elijah realises he and crowley have only ever had one match against each other, and he had lost that match... meaning that if crowley was right about this conspiracy, elijah would win if they faced each other again.

by the point of this confrontation, crowley's become a vagabond, this shell of the showman he used to be, so during their match he tries simply laying down and letting elijah take the pin, but elijah refuses and insists on winning on his own terms (especially if crowley is so confident in his theory). “his own terms” consists of repeatedly beating the shit out of crowley and deliberately not pinning him, and as you can imagine, he eventually pushes crowley's patience too far. that’s the jist, but actually watching it all does it much better justice than me cramming it down.

to the audience, we already know crowley as this awful, spectacular fucking twat, but he's incredibly charismatic and entertaining, you can't help but love to hate him. personally i think he goes pretty underappreciated at the moment, very much loved and endeared but still underappreciated. he has a unique and interesting gimmick that works really well for him, his ring work is great, he can be comedic and serious, and his promos are seriously so good (he started out as an actor initially, shocker).

indy britwres is full of talent since they've rebuilt themselves and i think crowley stands out really well. the indies are the perfect place for the stuff he does and hopefully more people get to see how fucking weird he is as time goes on.

Hug of the Century

I love that there is a specific name for the hug between Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun at the end of the Word of Honor Concert. Whether it's called "Hug of the Century" or "Century Hug", it's one of my very favorite things.

I watched the Hug of the Century live very, very early in the morning Pacific Standard Time on May 4, 2021. I ended up paying twice for access - once laboriously translating my way through Youku's Chinese portal, and then the second time just paying for premium access on Youku's channel on YouTube, since I was not at all confident I'd be able to get the first access right at 4am or whatever time it was in the morning. It seemed a bit expensive at the time, especially since I watched it without subtitles and therefore had zero idea what was going on, but it turns out it would have been a bargain at 10 times the price.

I have saved every single angle and fancam that I can of this hug, so it's a real shame that I only have one video slot. I'm going to put it to good use with one of my very favorites:

Ah, I feel so emotional looking at these pictures. What an incredible event. It's very worthy of being immortalized in fig form!

The fig maker had a difficult time with the factory for the engineering for this set. From what I understand, she had originally planned for it to be two characters, but it turned out the difficulty and cost was just too much, so the two ended up being made as a single figure. So you can see it here being shipped as one set together.

Unfortunately, Gong Jun lost the end of a hairpin! It's not common to lose part of his hairpin...but it's not that uncommon either. As you can tell from this, it was a pretty clean break, so I got out my glue and some tweezers and stuck it back on. It wasn't too difficult.

Alright, I'm going to just post the series of photos all in one go, so you can see the full 360 degrees of the Hug.

There we go. I don't mind at all the two figs aren't removable - it might look pretty funny if they were.

Here's a close up. The fig maker had a lot of issues with Zhehan's face during production - they ended up redoing it and then tweaking it several times. The finished product is much improved over the first draft, for sure. I know the eyes are very difficult for fig makers to get right…I've had a couple figures that got cancelled because they couldn't get the look right.

Gong Jun's face is a lot easier, since his eyes were closed. I really like the detail here of his rucked-up sleeve. I checked the pictures and they did model it very closely. It looks really good I think, some very natural looking detail.

You can see how they were actually designed as two separate figs. It would have been very interesting to see the production pics on this fig to see how they interlocked them together.

Both sides here...I think the hairpin glued on very well! Maybe my most successful one yet.

This fig set is quite a bit larger than my typical figs. To illustrate, here's one of the the original official concert figs.

The first-in bonuses for the set included an art card, a luggage tag, and a sticker, all with some really delightful art of Zhehan's speech. I love this so much! I would have bought it just for the extras here. The box card is in the upper top right.

And our box art. The fig maker really went all out on this set - you can tell how much this meant to them. It's the only set they've made - their dream figs. I'm really happy with it. Having all these different visions and styles of figs makes the collection really special to me.

i have tried so hard not to be LMAO i have Sexual Trauma(TM) regarding men, and i reached a point in my late 20s where i was like "so the only way i'm ever going to experience intimacy again is going to have to be with a woman" but i could not get that to click into place in my brain, man. no matter what i did. i am Tragically Straight.

but other than the Trauma(TM) -- this may come as a surprise to some of you, but -- despite my involvement in fandom, i'm actually fairly normie. ("normie" in this context meaning that i fit into the mainstream standards of general society.)

Like, idk if this makes sense but when I see the 'typical' dark romance dynamic where you have this small innocent girl (girl in the sense that shes a grown woman, we just call her a girl for. reasons) being dominated by this dark scary guy, all I see is The Patriarchy on a very small scale, and thats not hot to me, to me its incredibly boring at best and honestly kinda disgusting at worst. I think we should start with Leandro, since he takes up most of my brain meats:

♡ Leandro Placido, he is in his late 20s. 1930s-40s eh ish time period wise aesthetic in a somewhat fantasy world i guess lol, he loves to dress in both men's and women's fashions (Loretta being the name he teases others with when he dresses up in typical womens fashion and goes out. But not always, sometimes he really does just want to feel pretty as Leandro and thats fine too <3). "Cleaner", he cleans up the crime scenes and disposes of bodies for his Boss and he's the best one in their Family. Which is so fitting bc his Boss found his sorry ass in a dumpster of all things. He had unintentionally been helping the guys he ran into dispose of a body he thought was regular trash and long story short after helping them they threw him in the dumpster too to get rid of him and that is when the Big Boss was told of him and well.. there he was.

Loud and rowdy, he never really knows when to keep his mouth shut with most things. He also has a quick temper, especially if he's drunk but not always. He's a bumbling idiot with a heart of gold. He plays the trombone terribly on purpose to annoy people, though he is actually a really skilled player. He uses sex, and other things, as a weapon against himself but learns that he doesn't need to do that as he grows in his story. Unfortunately he's also a rat, secretly having infiltrated his Family by the very enemy who wants nothing more than to get rid of them once and for all. Too bad he's fallen in love with the head maid of the House, and when he falls, he falls incredibly h a r d. Only having ever been in one other full relationship with a girl he went to high school with, which he ended in one of the worst ways possible (smh poor Annity), he wasn't sure how to explain his feelings for her. And then he accidentally catches her and one of his best friends in bed together, so after that he doesn't want to get in between two of some of the most important people in the world to him. So he just.. flirts, and really why would she think any different?

He always flirts. With everyone. So they do this tired song and dance of him shamelessly flirting with her, and her being annoyed (and flustered) by it because she thinks he's just teasing her relentlessly. And it goes on.. for a long time. Until... after like A Lot. For instance: him bedding a different high power Underworld Boss while black out drunk and also not even knowing who he was, getting kidnapped (almost four times) and getting most of his tongue cut out on a successful kidnapping to remind him of who he really works for (and if there is one thing he hates is a traitor, boy look in the damn mirror who do you think you are), being sent off to work at the docks for three months after getting into a heated argument with his Boss (over the Boss's relationship bc GASP Leandro has a bit of a lusty crush on him too! Messyyyyy), him having a crush on a dance hall owner (Bruce) bc he taught him how to love the side of him that he calls Loretta (which in turn has him accepting his whole self), Annity showing back up in his life with their son William (double gasp!), his abusive parents showing back up after he gets arrested for the 43rd (to which he is owed 43 phone calls dammit! Lol!), among... other happenings. . . They finally get their happy ending. But, not in the way they expected. And that fits them just fine.

He's messy, in all senses of the word, but cleans up nice. It takes him too long to get his shit together. He's the dumpster fire that lives in my heart lol. Very 'sun coded' or whatever it's called in the ways that he burns himself too bright in a way that will destroy him. he's viciously angry while having so much love for others but almost none for himself. More than willing to take a bullet for anyone, but will also put a bullet in whoever his Boss feels like.

He's also so dense. No book smarts, only street smarts. If anyone he truly loves flirts back with him, like the Head Maid or Bruce, it is seriously like they are talking to a brick/concrete wall. Also the trope of 'love me so much it undooms me' but only after it's too late.

He dies, of course only after realizing just how much he wants to live. And how much he now has to let go because death has always been coming for him. He had so desperately wished for it so many times, except now he wishes for anything but. And that's when his time is up.

He then appears on a beach, which he has dreamed about- so much like the one back home. A home he hasn't seen since he was a child running around wild. And who does he see a little ways down the shore? The love of his life and the promised spirits of their two children that they are lucky enough to have in their next lives. He runs over and embraces her, twiling her around and bringing a trail of waves around them in the air as he does so all while crying into her hair as she clings just as tightly. After he sets her down and kisses her, the children tackled him into the ever on coming surf. And he gets a taste of what his after life is supposed to be- until all of a sudden, after a small talk with his beloved, they all disappear. He can't see or hear them, but they can see and hear him as he calls out helplessly for them. And he thinks, this is it. This is the hell that he had always known he would end up in. He just wasn't prepared for it. He also was not prepared for the heart shaped lock that magically appeared and locked itself unbearably tightly through his chest and into the space where his heart was. Then the beach is gone, where his loving family are just as confused to his disappearance.

He's back to the place where he died, held back by someone who has unfinished business with him. A girlfriend who had never been able to let him go, Annity. Who.. isn't all bad she's just... complicated.

Cursingly haunting the person who is keeping him from moving on, becoming almost nothing more than a twisted rage filled demon. He dooms the person holding his spirit hostage for years until the love of his life (who had died before him, in his arms. Tragic.) uses almost the last of her own spirit energy to save him, oh yeah, and to stop the ghost marriage Annity had been so close to achieving!

With help of course!

From a medium- who turns out to be his Boss' younger sister who he would have done anything for while living (and who after most of his tongue was cut out she taught him sign language). And his own son, who all this time hadn't been able see him, but had sensed.. something was off for the past few years with his mother. He never would have guessed it was something like this.

And only then, when all of his and others wrongs are in some way set to right, are they allowed to live their after life in happiness and love. Because after all of this... he gets his revenge- in a way, he forgives those he feels deserves it... but also he forgives himself for his past mistakes that he didn't even know he learned from.

I just have so many feelings about him and all of the scenarios he could get himself into when he isn't confined to the limits of the story he is doomed by and haunts himself.

Next is Graskogr of Strilgahl and Isabeau, they are a couple of destiny do NOT separate them. let's start with Gras:

♡Graskogr of Strilgahl, 874 years old give or take a few years, 12'9", fantasyyyy so anything I say goes yay =], they speak with two voices (i imagine it to sound like a duet, in the beginning I thought of something like the duet between Ashley Barrett and Daniel Korb from the Hades soundtrack bc their voices together are absolutely beautiful. But not im thinking its something like whatever those two characters from this game my friend plays. One voice is gruff and animalistic while the other is light and serene.) sometimes one voice leads while the other has an overlaying whisper it just depends. Ruler of a kingdom that they had lived in their centuries long life, having overthrown the previous ruler and brought peace and prosperity to their kingdom. Though they are now hated by every other surrounding kingdom, either for how long they've been in power or just becuase of how powerful they themselves are. Having been granted great magical ability from their godlike parentage, they have a fully golden akorhraca (bullshit fantasy metal I made up lol) arm that can transform into any weapon they wish. Though more of a curse than blessing, they need magical energy to survive. And a lot of it. And if they call upon their weapons too often or use too much power the ichor spreads. They have fissures of the stuff all over their body like lightning scars almost. Something akin to a big dark blue broken plate fixed with gold.

They've had so many marriages over their life, most ending with the partner leaving. As a product of whoever not wanting to be with them or being to afraid of them or for whatever reason once the political side of things was secured the partner would end the marriage. And they would let them, gladly. Not really caring here nor there abiut a relationship, until one. Karya, a human, far smaller and fragile than them. It was the first time in their life they had felt something like love. Though that wasn't necessarily what they would have called it, not having the words to describe how they felt. (And honestly neither do I lol) The two lived happily for many years, Gras allowing themselves to dote on this tiny woman and also allowing her to do the things she could for them as well.

But then she got sick. Gras tried everything they could to heal her, but for some reason... nothing they did worked. So unfortunately the beloved queen passed. And they went into a deep grieving, a depression so deep they shut everyone and everything out for a few centuries. At one point in the beginning even closing off the kingdom to anything and everyone other than those who greatly needed their help. Refusing to speak anything more than a grunt or one word answer whenever a steward would ask something of importance to the kingdom.

They even gained a new pronoun during this time, they start using It to refer to themselves as well lol.

Though after their initial grieving, they went into a rage. So terrifying and powerful that it woukd be spoken of for centuries after, and it is also a reason as to why they are so hated. Taking their seemingly unending anger out whatever they felt like. But thankfully it didn't last too long. But it would scar their public perception from other kingdoms forever. Oh they also sort of become an assassin for hire as well during this time. Not even seeing the need to disguise themselves either so everyone knew it was them who was coming for their targets lol. Though instead of being paid in money they would be paid in things that would help their kingdom, that admittedly would struggle due to their absence.

Most of their time, however, after their rage would be spent in the chambers that they had dedicated to Karya.

Okay enough doom and gloom, well not really but whatever, now onto Isabeau!

♡Isabeau, a harpy woman who has lived with her flock in the mountains her entire life. Until she is accidentally cursed by some novice magic user to be a tiny little bird. Unable to speak or transform back, the magic user feels absolutely awful for the wrong they have caused her. Vowing to help return her to her glorious self, the two set out to undo this curse. Eventually being separated by a strong wind that blows Isabeau's tiny form aaaaaaaaaaallllll the way to Strilgahl.

Where the first interaction she gets with Graskogr is they try to shoot her with an arrow from their fantasy metal arm.

Off to a great start.

So she retaliates by trying to use her small but sharp talons to scratch them. But it doesn't do anything, not even leave a mark.

And something stirs inside Graskogr, a light feeling he hasn't felt for many years. Seeing the tenacity of this little tiny thing to live. To not die by their hand. It causes them to laugh, truly for the first time since their beloved passed. Though it was nothing more single chuckle. But still.

It confused Isabeau, who just moments before this hulk of a figure was just trying to kill her. And now it was... laughing. Or almost laughing? She wasn't sure. . . Just as long as death wasn't staring her in the face. And at this point she is so exhausted she just passes out.

So Gras takes care of this little bird, a thing that it's beloved loved so much..

Aaaaand unfortunately that's kind of all I have for sure for them. But there is also some dream stuff, where Gras sees Isabeau's true form in their dreams but all they really see is a person made of light so they think st first that it is Karya guiding them. And maybe in some way it is. Karya may be watching over these two idiots and be pushing them together so that they can be happy.

They teach each other how to love and trust and l i v e again. Despite the harships and curses. Despite everything. The live and they love. And for them, that is enough.

( and also for this Fantasy land Leandro also has a form here where he is a fallen star turned Mortal and Human. Or he thinks he's Human. He has amnesia from the fall and transformation. Lol but other than that and some more magical powers he's basically the same character. )

duuude I just woke up from a very wild dream (bear with me) where someone in the fandom (not naming the user in the dream cause that's probably unfair asdfghjkl you'll see why) who was a fanartist (in the dream, not real life) and staged a wrestling match with John Cena that the plot of which was about their differing les mis opinions. This user had clearly like spent days rehearsing the match it was really good and John Cena was hurt and had to fight through neck pain without complaining like a pro (probably a bad call there, John) and overall it was a really cute idea for a wreztling match

but in the dream I only saw that AFTER the callout post from a made up user in my brailn that had accused the first user of cheating on the speedrun that the fake John Cena fight was about. The first user had gotten angry and made an insensitive post about it (like typical les mis fandom snobbery with added classism) and after it, the second user made a huge Huge massive gorgeous comic about their struggles being a black fanartist in fandom spaces and they included, but not named, the first user. It was honestly a beautiful, sensitive and insightful comic about their personal life (that my subconscious probably stole from real posts and videos I've actually seen, plus this one brazilian instagram account that's pretty good) that opened by mentioning the classist post made by user 1

And this was kinda huge, it made its way to drama youtube and everything, peole were analyzing the John Cena match that's how it came out that John Cena was in neck pain and people blamed the tumblr user for going through the fight even tho they didn't know abt before the fight and then I just had to like wake up at 4am to process all of this.

I've never dreamed about the fandom before so this was all very disorienting. 0 out of 10 dream experience. Anyone has John Cena's contact and wanna stage a les mis fight with him? that'd be pretty funny

and ermmmm i think if ur someone like me who has a very difficult time committing to art things and is a bit insecure abt colors, drawing with anti-aliasing turned off is rly helpful, since u can change any of the colors very easily by using the bucket fill (tolerance set to 0 and anti-aliasing turned off, itll fill only that specific color area. plus if u want it to fill every area with that color u can turn off "apply to connected pixels only") if u wanna make adjustements whatnot

color theory wise i have a LOT of thoughts since im quite the unprofessional art-loving mess - but its 4am so i dont feel like making an entire essay (and also i dont rly think my thoughts or advice r very helpful anyway), so ill keep it short (my tips r not beginner friendly im sorry for that):

ill typically have flat colors be saturated, while shading colors desaturated

do not underestimate greys, its extremely flexible and can look like a variety of colors depending on the pallet around it

^^ these parts of the color wheel r my bff as someone who uses warm tones/red extremely often. often when i use a color i dont actually use the obvious "correct" tone, but rather smth slightly off (like making my reds be a bit on the orange side, my blues just gray, greens r a desaturated/dark yellow, etc etc)

i never use pure white, ill dabble in pure black sometimes (for sketching esp) cause it looks pretty nice as a contrast, but since i find it easier to use darker colors i dislike using pure white and u will like never see me purposefully use it unless its for a highlight or on mspaint lol

the way i usually start out deciding the pallet will be derivative of how light/colorful the darkest is or how dark/colorful the lightest color is. the main middleground color (usually for me thats a strong red) is probablymore important than both of those though, and what i tend to make the background

personally i absolutely suck at using filters/gradient maps and dont actually know how to use them to my full advantage, but do NOT be afraid to use them !!! use them all u want!! and honestly? its a talent of its own to know how to use the right filters/gradient maps/etc. ur not lesser of an artist or cheating when using these, they r viable tools at ur disposal !

Hi, sorry but can I ask your coming out story?

Of course, no need to be story. It's a little weird and complex. It started in my teens, because that was when I first realized I had a crush on a girl. I confided in two of my queer friends about it, but kept it to myself because I wasn't sure how to define it. Mind you, this was in the very early 2000s, like maybe 2004, and people liked to have a nice, neat label on sexualities back then. You were either gay or straight or you could be bi, but people wouldn't believe you. At this time in my life, I took this very unscientific Kinsey Scale quiz online with my friends and got a 2.81 out of 6, so I kind of thought, okay, I'm straight with bi tendencies. Again, very outdated thinking.

In my late teens, I very nearly went to prom with a girl who had a crush on me. I started considering, okay, maybe I'm bi? I'd never really liked anyone that much, and further reflection would reveal that I'd never actually been attracted to anybody in the way that most people are.

I first heard the term "asexual" in my early 20s, and after researching a bit, I realized that that was what applied to me. But I was still pretty certain that I liked girls. I did some heavy self-reflection, which is difficult when you’re ace and not super interested in or "turned on" by anyone. But I eventually realized that I thought I was more gay than anything. I took that same quiz and got like a 4.5 out of 6 this time, and that was confirmation enough.

At this point, I told my best friend, who was gay. He pretty much asked me if I was sure, and that maybe it was a phase (I am 100% not kidding.) I also came out to one of my best female friends, and she kind of had an "are you sure?" reaction, which was better than the reaction of my other friend.

I started a couple of online dating profiles (this is still in the earlier 00s, around 2010, before dating apps were a thing) on like... match and plentyoffish.com. I was immediately attracted to this one girl, who ended up messaging me... and not to put too fine a point on it, but we have been talking nonstop for the past 12 years. It was the person who would become my wife. I didn't know that then, but I did know that I liked her a lot. In fact, after one week of talking to her non-stop, I came out to my parents.

This is the fun part, and I guess it's my true 'coming out.' I was 21, and we were in the car on our way to the airport to go to my cousin's wedding. It was like 4am. Picture it: Pitch black. Music low. My dad driving. I realize, you know what, this is a great opportunity, we're all stuck here together, might as well talk about it. So I say, from the backseat, "I have to tell you guys something. I think I'm gay." And then my dad ran over a raccoon.

Okay sorry that that came out of nowhere and is terrible, but. It's what happened. He hit a raccoon. It completely disrupted the moment. Anyway, my dad responded "well I think I'm straight," which, if you know my dad, is a perfectly typical response. My mom cried. She wasn't mad, and by the time we reached the airport she was asking me if I'd met anyone and if she could see pictures. I honestly don't know why she cried, and to this day we haven't really spoken about it.

If you've made it this far, I'm sorry this was so long. I was in my early 20s when someone first explained what the difference was between romantic and sexual attraction to me, and I realized for certain that I was both gay and ace. And I'm proud of both.

Its 4am this is my mental illness I can talk about whatever I want but i want to talk about him hhh I think what really irks me the most about Reboot Utonium is the fact that he wasn't able to be stern and firm to his kids and actually I kinda see like he's afraid of them?

I probably talked about this before but I noticed and have a feeling that Reboot Prof probably feared his kids. Listen, I have no doubt that both version loves his kids very much, and I'm just judging this by unfortunately watching a few reboot episodes, and I just have a feeling that he feared his kids will realise that they have powers over him and they can simply yeet him so he starts to be soft in terms of ruling them around and such. I do not see him being firm and stern yet rational to them, he gave in into whatever they want at times even though they shouldn't be.

OG Prof also never raised his voice to his kids unless it's necessary and he never even dare to touch them because he knows well aggression is not the right way to solve things but seeing Reboot Prof tugging and pulling the girls (ex: in one ep about the evil pillow where Buttercup said he's overreacting and he just tug buttercup and yelled at her face? That's not something OG Prof would do he is still very soft to his kids) lowkey makes me mad at how the reboot bartadized his character.

Honestly Im looking forward for the new reboot with Craig. I just hope they get his character right. As usual, I am biased because he is my fav, I know he is kind of considered to be a supporting character but he's just as important as the girls. and people might think his personality and overall design is simple and basic (black and white palette, square, typical 50s dad personality) but what people don't realize is his own design actually contrasts the girls a lot yet it matches them perfectly. Round kids, Rectangle dad. Colorful clothes, monochrome wardrobe. Curve lines, straight lines, I just love how both designs just clashes but it just makes sense. This is just mwa mwa poetic cinema

As for personality wise, like I said his personality is basic typical 50s dad but i just feel that his character is kinda special in a way because I grew up watching cartoons and from what I can say he is a lot special than other dad characters during the late 90s-early 00s cartoon era because most of the dad characters during that era are either stupid or if they're happen to be geniuses, neglectful and he matches none of it. He is smart yet humble, stern yet kind and he loves and supports his kids very much.

I think that's why I personally don't like his reboot version at all, they turned him into the opposite person of the man I loved.

Chapter 5 Commentary while I vibrate excitedly waiting for the newest Cass comic update

Mikey has issues with it being silent, so causes chaos instead. Mood Mikey. Me yesterday bothering my roommate's friends over gc and causing chaos to make the house feel less quiet

Heavily heavily implied that Mikey is actually Sensing his family's reactions, and Donnie’s big lab door is one of the few things that blocks it out successfully so he enjoys the lab when the "silence" is the bad kind

Mikey’s great with people but he's not good at recognizing lying and people intentionally deceiving him because he... has never been trained to. Mikey has literally never experienced a liar in his life beyond his brothers with little stuff. It's no wonder Bradford tricked him so well. Mikey just LITERALLY has NEVER been in a situation where somebody lied about something serious and there were huge impacts as a result. It also doesn't help that Shredder is crazy in a not fun wau, so Mikey can't predict him at ALL, and Karai works on such a different axis of thought that Mikey’s somewhat clueless with her too

Mikey doesn't remember events so much by what happened, as much as he does by how people reacted to them, or how everyone felt at the time

2003 Donnie has a dufflebag he carries with him all the time and I think more Donnies should have dufflebags

Mikey sussing out immediately that Donnie is worried about Karai so he's fussing over his inability to provide medical care

Let’s just act like he didn’t have the ending he got for a minute. 

I feel like a lot of people would take him as the kind of guy to slow dance with his partner, but I think not. Why have some other person’s song, one written by someone who doesn’t know either of you, do the talking when one of you could? 

Your intimate moments come from being near each other, whether it be just being in the same room, even if you’re both doing entirely different things. Sometimes he’ll just watch you do something he has no interest in, but not only is he just a general people watcher, but he especially likes to watch you.

He’s very deftones coded. I think intimate communication comes in the form of whispering against each other's lips or something equally as out of character for me to write, like having your hands overlapping, but not quite holding each other, while one rubs the other's knuckles.

Besides that, acts of service are his love language. Bringing you somewhere you mentioned once or finally organizing that shelf you keep complaining about, expect that sort of thing. 

Sometimes things are going to be rough, like all relationships can be, and he's not going to talk to you. Maybe he won’t be around at all. Don’t take it personally, typically being an angel banished from heaven causes bigger issues than whatever the hell you can do.

When it comes to you two having issues, he’s far more communative. There’s no use ruining a relationship over something so trivial

On that note, if you’re an obstacle in him getting back into heaven, you’re good as dead. Would he regret it? Yeah, sure. But moreso, get fucked lmao

Hello Enstarries~☆ I'm a newbie and wanted to share my kinda-first impressions of our maybe beloved idols bc the fandom (on tumblr) seems pretty 🤏 and so this might....idk serve as another entertaining post or smth. A viewpoint from a newcomer. I'll do each unit per post bc holy moly are there many and we'll start with Trickstar here. For a little structure, I'll begin with an overall impression (vibe, songs etc.) and then continue with indivdual members (appearance, personality etc.).

Before we start, you may wonder why it's a fresh? and kinda-first impression. Well, I've been listening to their songs for about 2 years (Eden & Crazy:B fan here) and so know a bit about them (mainly their banger songs), be it through memes, iceberg explanation, memes and wiki pages. But I only really got into it since the global release. So even if I have all these random out-of-context info, I still basically know nothing. I only read their Episode 1 in the game for this bc want to start with the ! era first before jumping into !!. Now, one last thing...

This is not an accurate description of any characters but my subjective rambling for fun, so please don't take it too seriously. (Just to be safe, I'm kinda scared of elite idol fans) Also, you will hear me mention other games a bunch of times bc I'm that bad and uncreative at explaining and I'm still grieving A3!EN's shutdown. Eng is my 2nd (or 3rd?) language and it's 4am, do with that what you want.

Typical first unit in idol games. Cheerful, innocent, ambitious and leading a revolution.....? That took me off at first, but, uh, good for them. Ngl their songs are boring. They remind me of Love Live's earliest songs and general idol songs. Pop, cheerful and encouraging messages, it's not bad. I just wouldn't listen to it if could. I do appreciate their preppier approach to the standard military inspired idol uniforms, though. Oh, the VA line-up is also 👁👁, like, damn.

5/10 - average, I don't have a strong opinion of them

Hokuto Hidaka

I love his voice. Tomoaki Maeno's voice is just melting butter~🧈 At first, I thought he'd be the boring, serious, smart blue coded character out of the red-blue duo but I learnt my lesson with Deuce (Twisted Wonderland). He's earnest, honest, responsible and doesn't suffer from trauma with his famous parents, which is pretty good and possibly rare. I haven't heard a lot from him. He actually looks boring🧍‍♂️but this card is really pretty for some reason?? Apparently comes off as cold often as well, which is very relatable 😓

5.5/10 - average guy (the irony)

Subaru Akehoshi

The 6th redhead, who's the poster character for their game. He looks like the standard first boy you meet and help to achive whatever the goal of the game and his dream is as his manager/producer/director/master/etc idk. Cheerful, naive, energetic. I don't really expect a lot from him but Sakuya (A3!), another redhead poster boy, became my most beloved baby sunshine 🥰, so...I'll just wait and see. His smile is pretty cute. And he likes money and sparkling things??? Random but not a bad thing.

6/10 - average but positive, slightly adorable

Makoto Yuuki

Funky guy with glasses 👓 The only other character I reacall rn with colored rims is 707 (Mystic messenger). I haven't seen a lot of blondes with glasses, I think. He's kinda cute. If you haven't noticed yet, glasses are a tiny soft spot of mine. He seems to be the token clumsy dumdum but is self-aware and a bit self-conscious of that. His chibi has :3!!! A worried one even. Also, one of the grey haired ones or so is a really big fan or so of him and chases him? My condolences 😔

6/10 - still a bit boring but glasses and :3, he's trying his best

Mao Isara

Initially, when I first listened to their songs, I thought Subaru's VA was his. It just seemed to fit better. He looks like a chatterbox and a social butterfly. Trendy and always up to date online. Maybe it's due to Cater (Twisted Wonderland), who looks similiar. But he's the student council president??? Looks truly decieve. I like his enthusiasm to have a just and actual working school. Well, he's still pretty friendly and so it seems.

6/10 - big role he carries but he's got the spirit, also cute

Honorary mention:

Anzu

Our dear MC, who has a lot of fans as well despite: 1. being a self-insert, 2. not having any real lines?, and 3. being a girl in a joseimuke game. Through A3!'s Izumi Tachibana, I learnt just how amazing self-insert MCs could be if they weren't self-inserts and had actual personality. I'm looking a bit forward to seeing more of her but I'll stay cautiously optimistic. Girl failed a revolution at her old school and attempts the next one right after her transfer, what an unyielding will. A bit miffed, that everyone seems to have a good relationship with her but is forced to stay ~professional~. Like, what is the use of names if you don't use them?! Let them call her Anzu or so >:( She also overworks quite often? You're not even 20....pls REST!

8/10 - I trust in my fellow Enstarries, maybe there will come a day when she gets her own card (perhaps as an anniversary gift?) (I really wanted one for Izumi (A3!), April fools has every side character except her. The audacity?!)

Conclusion

It's a bit weird how everyones' individual impression scores higher than the overall one. I suppose, it's like how mixing everything you like won't necessarily make an even better thing.

Now, if you reached the end, first off, congratulations! 🎊🎉 Idk if it's bc I was actually entertaining or bc you're that determined but thanks~♡ As you can see, I write a lot. I don't mean to do that but I always just somehow end up writing way too much bc I want to deliver my thoughts precisely. It's nearing 6am rn and I accidentally deleted my first draft. If there are any grammatical errors or so...have mercy. Feel free to comment whatever. It would give me more motivation to continue, though ofc I want to do everyone anyways. Just keep in mind, it's all just for fun and games and we're all here for a good time.
