see i don't even disagree w you, it's the specific jikook brand of omegaverse that is rly just an excuse to write straight romance undetected. like you can't convince me that if you replace jm and jk from the average jikook fic with a straight couple something would feel different. and please don't feel included in this because you know how to write a great plot and establish characters ok!!! actually i think i read a bakudeku fic once! it was superr popular and short i think? i tried reading some jujutsu kaisen ff and yeah there's some good stuff out there but nothing compares to the emotional attachment i have to bts so 😞 i need to fixate on something else asap❗
you would not believe. how many times i've tried answering this ask before i dissolve into Yapping. sorry. i have a lot of thoughts about the type of fic you're describing i really do. it's bothered me for a long time. my general thoughts are that. bts ao3 fic is a very short walk from wattpad band fic. so a lot of those sorts of people end up over here that dont have that Shame the rest of us nerds do who grew up writing cringey ass book and anime fic when we were teens that pushed us to experiment with writing in complete anonymity and write fucked up and shit stuff and we started Caring abt what we wrote. and also the wattpad band fic environment is so different to the ao3 m/m. but if you know a little grammar and you actually finish the fic the story just gets so unbelievably popular on its own.
that being said there are good fics still in bts jikook. i havent found them yet but i know they're in there. there's gotta be at least one brave soldier left fighting against swathes of people who probably unironically read colleen hoover for fun. there's gotta be. i refuse to live in a world where there isnt

i feel like i need therapy because there’s definitely something going on but every time i’ve been to therapy or any kind of counselling i either don’t have anything to talk about or i can’t open up about my issues because it’s so embarrassing to talk about what fucks me up but at the same time i can freely talk about it on tumblr for strangers to see who don’t even read it

Early MCYTblr Interviews: georgesoot
today's interviewee is georgesoot/dreamwasfound, who, in his words, "emerged from the senior living center to tell all". under the readmore is a transcript if the questions and answers.
Q: What was, in broad terms, your experience in MCYTblr? Are there any experiences/events that stand out to you?
A: Well it was primarily an outlet to channel all my obnoxious thoughts about Minecraft at the time. I had started watching Minecraft videos during the Pandemic, and came across [they who shall not be mentioned] and noticed there wasn't really a community on Tumblr yet. I just knew that someone had to show up and make it gay. It was easy to slot myself in, start making posts that I will never understand how I thought they would be funny, and slowly built up some sort of a following due to my sense of humor but also due to my ability to soberly ~critique~ the Minecraft Men as content creators, micro-celebrities, and as people. I never really fell into niches or was much aware of what other people were doing, until I was kind of folded into this idea of Dream Lying. I don't mean to sound self obsessed but I didn't really care about anything beyond my immediate sphere of friends?
For instance, you mention with other interviewees the Elections. I did not pay attention to those for a single second. I do remember we were saying "stop the count!" because we thought Georgeeehd should have won. And I dubbed Wormweeb the Prime Minister of Mcytblr, but I don't even remember who was running? Or why this even happened?
But as for other events, if they were funny or I could wring something out of them, I do remember them. For example, the mass migration of Kpoppies to Tumblr after it was suddenly "legal" to ship content creators. That compltely shifted the "culture" if it can be called that. I remember all the fake stan accounts, but I never attempted to interact with them. Obviously I remember the Tapeworm post, all the Discourse, the Controversies, how I was able to get hundreds of notes by summarizing events of the DreamSMP, my great shame in life.
But yes, most of the time, I was not there to take things too seriously.
Q: More specifically, what was your experience being in Dream Lying/early critblr? Do you think your experience differed from “main” MCYTblr?
A: As for my experience in what has been dubbed Critblr, well I've been credited with helping to start that whole movement. I think it's funny, because truly the kind of reaction to [censored]'s warcry scandal just wouldn't play out today the way it did back then. But I think it's a function of being an adult, that I could look at [censored] not as an idol, like at all whatsoever. It's easy to swept up in the emotions of things. But as a veteran of Discourseblr, and multiple fandoms, I could see through [censored]'s lack of media training and awareness of the average center left teenage perspective on these issues like it was wet tissue paper. People were mad at for that, but I didn't care what people thought of me.
Maybe by coincidence the other members of Dream Lying also had similar worldviews to mine. Everyone could look past the stanning of it all and recognize when something "canceallable" occurred and discuss it frankly and succinctly. Well I couldn't discuss it succinctly but others could. So to answer your question, yes it was a different experience from the rest of the "community." And it got to the point that it wasn't just "holding creators to account" it became fun. It was fun being the buzzkill in an ironic sense, and also fun in an unhinged way to just create these ludicrous scenarios of [censored] the Young Republican cornering you in the hallway and asking you so how does gay sex work actually though? And again, shipping was a component of this too.
And we turned out to be right. At the risk of sounding arrogant, this will become a theme.
Q: In previous interviews with DLying members, we’ve discussed that misinformation/in-jokes were a big part of the culture, one of them being that Dream sued you for libel. Do you remember any others? Did you expect so many people to believe you?
A: As I mentioned, I didn't take things too seriously. I enjoyed doing a little light trolling, such as when I infiltrated a [censored] stan tumblr server and showed everyone his dogs, and then reveled in the drama of them acting like I killed their families. People also turned on me because I abandoned The Ship for a ship that comprises of two… perpetrators of sexual misconduct as of March 2024, though that would also be true of the Popular Ship as well.
Anyway my personal computer died sometime in early 2021, so I, as is per the usual for my personality, made it into a joke because it really was quite stressful. I mentioned to Reese Georgeeehd and Ozzie ohge0rge (sp?) that [censored] must've sent a virus to kill my harddrive. This evolved into [censored]'s legal team sending me a cease and desist letter, as I'm sure I was being extra ~critical~ on Tumblr at the time.
They asked if they could make that The Official Narrative. I cautioned against it, it leaked anyway, because their "Private Twitters" had hundreds of followers, and this enabled this joke to become a full fledged rumor. And then my "ops" as the kids call them, got wind of this too. Most didn't believe it, but some had this "If it did happen GOOD!" attitude.
But some other examples… let me think. We did try to heavily imply that Ranboo was a former member of our organization. We rarely outright lied about the creators, but we did usually distort or exaggerate things when it came to us, for comedic effect. Frequently someone will say to me "Oh so and so mentioned you again," and my go-to answer is always "Tell them I got hit by a bus," or "Tell them I'm withering away from my dementia in the nursing home."
I did not expect people to believe me, because I did not spread the rumor because I had completely disappeared from the "public" by that point. I purposefully devised a very unrealistic joke in the first place, so I really don't know who would believe that. Especially since I was known to be friends and enemies with doxxers, who could find that information out if it existed.
Like the thought of [censored] being so hurt by a single anonymous loser calling him a Trump supporter and a bad voice actor and someone who was going to hold his British friend captive in his basement and force him to go on a keto diet to the point that he starves to death, or that he had offshore bank accounts to evade Taxes, or that he paid his brother to be his body double (this turned out to be true), that he was pretending to be bisexual for clout, that he had 100% cheated on his speedrun (also turned out to be true), that he had enslaved his mother as his maid, that he and his other friend from Texas would engage in a little frottage as bros do… well the list is endless. But the thought of him being so offended that he gets his lawyer, whom he pays, to send me a cease and desist letter… well it's one of the few things I came up with that was actually funny.
Uh but no, anyone with a healthy attachment to reality would never believe that.
Q: I understand that you were also in EBblr and its surrounding communities. What was that like?
A: I was never in ebblr… all I did was watch a few Tubbo streams, realize that he was probably gay, and I was right. Because what do you expect at this point?
I pointed out publicly that Tubbo and Ranboo were engaging in some light queerbait, except that they were obviously both queer. The point was I thought they (or at least Tubbo) were trying to engineer a New [censored], because that gets you attention which gets you money… like Kaceytron was right about everything? In these spaces, being Queer is a commodity. But I'm letting the point get away from me.
In private, I mostly reacted with bemusement, and we did have some genuine enderbabies, as I called them (mostly derisively), in our server, who took it all so literally and that it was so kawaii desu. I thought it was cringe. Like, Tubbo pretending to be coy and saying Ranboo's foot was bigger than his forearm. That took me RIGHT back to my days as a cringy 19yo baby gay trying to flirt. Oh I'm getting embarrassed thinking about it. But there were a few moments that Tubbo and Ranboo manufactured together that I thought were pretty cute and wholesome.
On the whole, I'm still confused as to why I'm included in this sub-community. I approached Enderbees as a marketing thing, or something of the sort. I never read fics, I never looked at art, I never really cared. I especially didn't care about their "characters" on the SMP, which also set me apart from the genuine unironic shippers. Some thought this was worse than shipping because I was committing that dreaded cardinal sin: speculating on CC's sexualities.
And yes, I popularized the word Truthing in this context. I explicitly modeled it after 9/11 Truthers, because the JOKE (hi remember none of this was meant to be too serious) was that we were deranged conspiracists who were probably best kept away from normal society.
Q: Is it odd to be regarded as infamous within the MCYTblr niche?
A: No it's not odd, I at least partially strove for infamy. Any attention gratifies the ego after all, not just postitive attention. Then there was the absurdity of it all. Here I was, in the Pandemic, having multiple degrees, looking for jobs, getting a job, going to work, paying taxes, and theater kids in high school were probably drawing devil horns on my pfp and throwing knives at it. All because I said everything I said about [censored], or "speculated" that Technoblade was gay because he had drama kid energy, or called Tommy annoying that one time in 2020, or babied [censored] too much. There's really no end to the list of nonsense I was spewing.
And I'd argue that I'm not infamous. Gayminecraftmen had to tell me about your blog and your interviews. I'm doing this because my friends think it would be funny. And the Drama of Georgesoot emerging from the senior living center to tell all is the kind of stupid humor I like. But aside from this, I haven't thought about Minecraft in a while. I have to be spoonfed lore about these annoying content creators who don't even make content anymore. Anything I learn about the "community" now is against my will.
At the time, maybe I was infamous, but now? I don't care. To even dignify my "infamy" would be to admit that Minecraft Youtube is even relevant anymore. How pathetic! I just filed my taxes and got an oil change last week. Me and the homies are having Dune watch parties and writing elaborate screenplays for Timothee Chalamet to star in in our heads (shout out to Ciara). To reminisce on my Tumblr infamy for a community of mostly teenagers about Content Creators who made content for said teenagers and later preyed on those teenagers… is so opposite from the adult problems and adult interest I have. Not to be condescending but that's just how it is!
Q: What are some common creator criticisms that you remember from 2020-2021? Do you still stand by them?
A: The common criticisms have held up in my opinion. [censored] and [censored] were queerbaiting. [censored] was cultivating an audience of loyal vulnerable teenagers and he took advantage. So did [censored]. And [censored] who literally bites people? Oh… okay then.
Dream Lying was right about [censored]'s friend whom he invited into his home and whom he tried to gift a career, only to be outed as an abuser. We were right about [censored] coming from not just a conservative background, but a bigoted one, one that he refused to actually grapple with. We were right about MCC being rigged. We were right about the cheating scandal. We were right about so many things.
The only thing I was definitely wrong about was the [censored] really did hop off the plane at LAX with a dream and a cardigan. I thought he for sure would just put off the [censored] team hype house meetup forever. My psychic powers don't always work I guess. That wasn't a criticism though, just my coping. Oh and I was wrong that Ranboo was an industry plant, but I was right that he's annoying and has no talent. And Dream Lying said from day one that Tubbo and Ranboo's little relationship would not last the summer and we were right! In fact during that whole thing I also speculated that Tommy would start queerbaiting and then he did! I felt like Cassandra at times.
Anyway back to the point. I mean the criticisms of [censored] were just all encompassing, and basically stemmed from the fact that he was like all these video game boys- a white man from a republican household who was not properly media trained because Streaming is not a real industry career and none of them were prepared for fame. And that has borne out over and over again. They all have shady pasts, they all abuse their fame and take advantage of fans. So I do stand by these criticisms.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to speak on or have archived?
A: Not really, I've already said far too much, so apologies to whoever edits these, I hope you enjoy the novel I wrote for you. I don't know, I have dementia, none of this is real. Karlarmy forever. Also who even knows if I'm the real Georgesoot.

I can't be all delusional and say that we've had so much jikookery this year that it's obvious they are together. Let be realistic. There was no other moments other than JK being jobless and watching JM contents for fun. CT trip was for work. There's no other special Jikook moment happened till now, if anything they have the least moments among all JM pairs now.. because it's evident af rest adores him. While Jk? Nowhere to be seen around him, it doesn't even make sense for best friends let alone bfs.
No that's not what makes you delusional
The crazy dumb delusional part is you thinking two men on their Solo journey will have any more moments than they did in the past.
We were hit with dry spells even when they lived together and worked together daily on the same band so us level heads don't be sweating it like that. Sounds like a YOU problem homie.
The clown part is also you thinking they have to have a public dramatization of their relationship ALL THE TIME for them to be real.
You giving off if I don't see yall interact yall not real and that's simply unintelligent of you because Kai Jennie existed with little to no interaction, lots of these kpoppies have partners we barely see till they are exposed, don't get me started on Tae Jennie.
You get that having deep feelings of attachment, love, sleeping and fucking eachother and spending quality time together is what makes them a couple right????
You think you FEELING they not together stops them from screwing and loving on eachother???? How old are you????
Drop the 12 yr old mentality you sound like a delusional infant addicted to the dopamine from seeing two gay men interact. Get help.

Just a few random thoughts. Personally I think Jungkook is sincere and isn’t playing a role right now. I think he tends to be a bit impulsive and obsessive when he has something in his mind. Nowadays, he wants to make sure we don’t see him as a teenager and the forever maknae. I never took him for a baby, I’m well aware he’s 26 now and he’s a grown ass man, hell I’m older than him 😅 So I don’t exactly get why he’s so hell-bent on that. For a while now the fandom has been mostly thirsting over him and noticing how much he has grown up. I think Jimin is being babied a lot in comparison. Or maybe that’s just in my circles? But I respect what he feels and the direction he wants to take. I don’t like it, because for this chapter 2 I was looking for something a bit more personal from each member, a way to connect to each one of them. And so far it has been the case, except for him. Which makes me a bit sad as he is one of my bias, along with Jimin and Hobi. Hopefully one day he’ll get back to writing his own songs because it’s when I connect to him the most, but it’s not his goal at the moment and I respect that.
That being said I truly hope we’ll get at least one ballad from him on his album, and no more featuring… it’s the 3rd one now, 4th if we add Dreamers but that was a special song, and like many of your previous anons I’m losing interest. My excitement for his album has worn off. With Left and Right then Seven and now 3D it’s getting a bit too much, all over the place and lacking some sort of uniqueness. I want to hear Jeon Jungkook, not another western perfectly-pre-packaged production that could have been given to any other pop artist. I’m not really seeing a multiple-dimension Jungkook right now, which is fine but just not suited for I expect from the artists I follow. I wonder if the debates around his songs stems from the way we engage with music in general. I’m going to be honest but personally I don’t stream. I’ve never and I won’t, it’s not the way I like to consume music. Actually, I don’t ‘consume’ music. I don’t listen to the radio, I carefully pick up and choose what I listen to. I guess music is serious business for me hahaha and not something I listen to casually? It’s not some background noise for when I do this and that, I like to really sit down and listen. Does that sound stupid? I don’t know. Sorry, I’m rambling. I’m not against a fun summer hit here and there but I guess I’m a bit of a snob. I’m also very picky about the lyrics and I too find 3D gross, and I won’t apologize for it. It’s definitely not subtle and not even sensual. And I don’t have a problem with sexual songs, heck one of my favorite artists is french singer Serge Gainsbourg, if you know you know ;)
To sum it up, I’m having mixed feelings. I love Jungkook, so I will listen to his album and if he’s happy then I’m happy for him but as an artist right now, his music is not for me anymore and it makes me a tad bit sad. But eh, we still have his previous songs to go back to :)
Whew, if you weren’t an anon and I knew your identity, I would say that we could be friends. I very much so hold a lot of these opinions. JK has one of the best vocals in the business BAR NONE. No one not even the kpoppies can dismiss that fact. Yet, these songs don’t showcase that??? They are songs that anyone could sing. Sure, JK has some great ad libs here and there. There is arguably nothing wrong with the way that he sounds but it’s also not remarkable or impressive vocally in my opinion.
I also don’t consume music. I too am older anon. I’m 30 almost 31 and I listen to what I like. One of the things I like and admire a lot is excellent, lush songwriting. You want a stunning hetero sexual song about sex with women? Work Song by Hozier or really any song by Hozier. I also admire the lyrics of Frank Ocean in the R&B scene, Kendrick Lamar in the Rap genre, and indie girls like Phoebe Bridgers and Lana Del Rey. All of these are just to name a few. Western music can be high quality and have amazing lyrics. I get that JK is going for mass general population appeal, so that’s why this doesn’t resonanate with me. I can be pretty snobby too. In fact, a lot of the music I love is what Joon shares to his stories and as we know, he’s one of the lyrical masterminds behind BTS.
I also love Jungkook and I’ll continue to love him even if I’m not going to listen to 3D and Seven on repeat. I will of course listen to his solo album too when it comes out. I fear it will be more of the same which isn’t my taste, but that’s okay. And it’s okay to like it. I’m one of those people that really likes to dive into songs lyrically. Some people don’t care about lyrics. The lyrics more than anything are what drew me to BTS in the first place. JK wants to be a different kind of solo pop star. That’s fine, I’ll just wait until he’s back in the studio with his band mates producing songs that I know will be fire and I won’t care what the general public thinks about those.

TH had almost more streams in Thailand than they have active Spotify users. Does that sound organic? 20% of Slow Dancing’s entire day one streams came from Thailand. 20%. Almost a quarter of his streams came from one country, a country that has a small Spotify user base. US has the largest amount of Spotify users. I think like 80mil? Whatever it is, it’s a lot. SD got like, 380k streams from the US and then dropped off the charts day two. The US is the biggest music market, with the highest number of Spotify users, and he couldn’t even stay on the charts more than a day, with a debut lower than Jimin’s b-side.
And let’s not act coy and pretend like a lot of SEA fans aren’t widely known as monster streamers. It’s not a big deal. A lot of ARMYs appreciate and rely on those streaming methods for good debuts and longevity, and obviously it’s not all or even most SEA fans. All fans are equally valuable and appreciated. But if we’re having a conversation about how successful TH’s debut was, I think it does matter that he underperformed in the biggest music markets, and it’s relevant the bulk of his streams came from places known for their aggressive streaming methods, and that a third of his albums came from a single country known for bulk buying.
Also longevity? Dropping a whopping 4million streams on day 8 aside, Taehyung’s debut just showed he completely failed to break outside of the ARMY bubble (which is the same for most of them tbf). And actually, I wonder if all those loyal tkkrs are even watching his ‘super amazing’ tiny desk performance looking at the views. Literally no one outside of ARMY cares about his “live” performances because no one is even watching them, so what does that have to do with longevity? And maybe the fact that the majority of his fans are shippers could explain why his music seems to have tanked on all relevant charts. And I hate billboard and I wish it didn’t matter because they suck and this competition with numbers is stupid. But it’s what the company is paying attention to, aggressively marketing towards, and obviously BTS cares. Remember how they reacted to their first #1? The way they flexed all the #1s that followed? TH did fine, but he definitely didn’t gain any substantial achievements that made his debut stand out. And if you’re going to talk about album sales, then you better be saying that Stray Kids and Seventeen are bigger than BTS.
And Jimin will be just fine. He gained so much prestige and clout from that bb#1, as well as his big and surprising success in the UK and other charts. And the way he did that without major company push? Just the bare bones rollout they all got (with the expedition of JK)? For an album that was more of a personal project for him than anything else, with just a small in-house team from BH? Yeah. And then look at the kind of impact he had on their stocks, an impact that was directly attributed to him. No one cared about the stupid encore outside of kpoppies who all have LC on their playlists anyways, or antis who are always desperately looking for things to drag. Now every time Jimin does something he has that highly coveted bb#1 artist attached to his name, and that’s a huge boon for him and his solo career, as stupid and obnoxious as billboard is. Not to mention how incredibly pleased his fans were by his music and performances, which is the most important aspect. I’m sure there are TH stans who really love his music but… well… we all saw the ARMY reception to SD vs LC. TH's music is divisive at best, and no, that doesn’t mean he has more artistry or whatever you want to say. Because Indigo was also more alternative and niche, but had a completely different and more positive reception. Also R&B is an incredibly popular genre.
And let’s not even get into a conversation about artistry. Taehyung’s lyrics literally had no depth, he didn’t have a single credit on his album, and he didn’t even have choreography to add any layers to his performances. His MVs were pretty, but weren’t even interesting. One of his gimmicks was literally having his dog walk out on the stage? It was very cute and I love how much he loves Yeontan, but artistry? When we were decoding German poetry and talking about philosophy, gender identity, escapism, psychology? Interpreting lyrics and choreography and even the name of the album and the promo material? It’s not even close. Tell me what was Layover even about? What was the story? What in there was personal or meaningful to him? Nothing wrong with just doing fun, shallow music sometimes, it can be awesome and I hope JM dabbles in that, but KTHs are the ones trying to spin this whole narrative about artistry to put down other members and feel better about an album that got a lukewarm reception and actually has little to no depth. It’s just surface and visuals and aesthetic. Not to mention the actual music aspect where JM tried and explored different genres, experimented with his voice, and pushed himself as an artist... All my respect to TH who did just fine, who did amazing by any non-BTS ML standard, all that should matter is if you like the music at the end of the day, but let’s not pretend his debut was something it wasn’t.
I'll just post this because you wrote so much 😅 but it really shouldn't have been turned into such a big deal because it wasn't. Like crazy also gets "bots streams" accusations and I'm surprised a Taehyung fan wouldn't know that, since it was actually them who spent years saying pjms bought streams for Jimin.
And one more thing I'll say is that I live in a 3rd world country. We've had more than 100% inflation rate this year so far, and the year isn't even over. A dollar costs 70 times more than our money, and Spotify cashes us in our local money, but it's the equivalent to the price in dollars. Add to that the government taxes, which is the price in dollars + 65% of it in taxes only. It ends up being a lot. I only have one family premium Spotify account that I share with my cousins and siblings.
So I didn't take their pity party seriously because 1) they were rude for no reason instead of trying to have a conversation about it 2) I obviously never meant it that way and I would never make fun of underdeveloped economies since I'm literally living in one lmao

Honestly, tae has always been a distant third when it comes to streams. Most of his fans are the definition of visual stans and he is the main person that kpoppies token stan and they don't stream for their actual favs. His most recent ost debuted with 1.7 million streams, so they doubled that for his solo debut.
Jungkook and taehyung are mostly token stanned by other kpop stans. But here's the thing, those kpop stans might watch their fancams or whatever but i dont think they go out of their way to stream or buy for tae and jk's music. Those people usually don't care about the music.
We all know why jk is doing good on charts. I'm not gonna talk about it again and again.
But well.... Taehyung didn't get the things that company gave jk. And the promotion mhj might be going with for tae is not working either. Not yet at least. So tae only has his stans left. Those who token stan him don't support his music. And the funny thing is that his own fans mostly stan him for visuals and don't really care about his music. I even saw a tweet from one of his stan talking about how they should do a project on weverse to tell taehyung to go for promotions that will make him do better on charts.
Like as if tae doesn't know what he's doing. He's not a rookie. His two songs till now are just not good. That's it. I think it's not most people's taste. And seeing that tweet just showed that his fans don't care about music and are just obsessed with charts because otherwise how will they prove that tae is the most popular?
So i think it's better to have a strong, dedicated fanbase who actually cares about your music, works hard with streaming and buying, and cares about the artist's artistry. Like pjms. I know pjms have some rotten eggs too but almost all of them genuinely love jimin and not the y/n type, they care about jimin's music and respect his artistry. I'm glad that pjms are growing more and more. Jimin needs a strong and established fanbase.
Also I saw some anons in other pjm blogs talking about how they feel bad for tae and I was like "dude why?" Why are they feeling bad. First of all it's their fault that the promotion that they were going for is not working for tae like how it works for newjeans. And seriously I can't bring myself to pity him when we have seen the way Face got treated, it was jimin who actually got sabotaged and it's worse because jimin's music was actually good.
Taehyung is not being sabotaged at all, it's just that his two songs till now are boring af. Nobody is talking about it because there's literally nothing to talk about. The mv is not some art masterpiece. The lyrics are basic, the song sounds underwhelming. So people are just not talking about it. Both songs didn't create any hype for his upcoming album.
And I'm sorry but tae stans were the ones who are always actively hating on jimin, they didn't feel bad when jimin got sabotaged (yeah actual sabotage) so i can't bring myself to give two fucks about tae nor do i feel bad for him. I don't. There's nothing to feel bad about. He's not been done wrong, he's not sabotaged, why should I feel bad? I've never cared about tae and I'm not gonna do it now. Some pjms are too soft hearted I swear to God.

“There’s...an owl in my room.”
“I’m sorry, who?”
“Yes, that. It sounds exactly like that.”
Tumblr media
You were never going to keep your window open ever again.
It had been approximately two (2) months and three (3) days since you moved into the boarding house a block away from your school. Two (2!) months and three (3!!!) days of living on your own for the first time in your life. It was going well, as you had assured your dad that morning. What a naïve fool you were.
Nothing was fine anymore.
Not with the foot-tall demon spawn with bright yellow eyes fluttering around your room as if it owned the place and was looking to clock in after a long day.
You ducked in between your bed and bedside table, praying that it would fly back out the way it came. But after several stretched-out minutes of attempted breathing exercises, you had had enough. You scanned the floor of your room, which was usually pristine but was presently a mess thanks to your frenzied panic. You took hold of your biology textbook, prepared to use it either as a shield or a projectile depending on what the situation called for.
“You can do this,” you hissed at yourself. All you had to do was shoo it back out the window. Simple. “Just think of it as a...a ball. Yeah. A big, easy-to-hit ball. With wings.”
You took three steady breaths. You stood up. You caught sight of it in the corner of your eye, glaring at you with the full force of hell. That was all it took for you to abandon ship without a second thought.
You ran out the door, a silent scream stuck in your throat. You slammed the door behind you on the way out, adrenaline coursing through your veins like ice.
“Are you...okay?”
You looked up at the only other person in the hall at this unholy hour, considerably more sane-looking than you. You knew Lee Heeseung--he was one of the other dozen students that lived in the same boarding house. It was impossible not to notice whenever he walked in a room, much less impossible to avoid looking at him, because JEEPERS did he win the gene pool lottery.
However, at this particular point in the evening, Lee Heeseung was not somebody who you wanted to see you in the middle of the hall wearing the worst pair of pajamas the world had ever seen. So what if you’d only spoken to him a few times? You still wanted to look normal.
“Are you alright?” he repeated. God, how bad did you look?
“Yeah, yeah,” you swallowed, now having to battle through two (2!!!!) completely different shocking situations. Frankly, you felt like a lot like y/n in one of those cringe imagines people write online.
"There's just a..." you gesticulated vaguely in the direction of your closed door. Way to make a new impression. How the hell were you going to explain...THIS.
"Did somebody enter your room?" Heeseung asked apprehensively, lowering his voice to a whisper and pitching forward so you could hear. He made it sound like you were hiding some saucy secret behind those doors.
"Um..yes? In a sense, I guess you could say that--"
Heeseung looked around and reached for a Swifer mop that so conveniently leaned against the wall like a piece of modern art (and, living in a house with a few fine arts students, it might as well could have been). "So someone is in there? Do you know who?"
"Yeah. That's exactly what they sound like."
"I'm sorry?"
"I think it's better if I just..." you took hold of the door knob and held up your textbook-turned-shield. Heeseung took that as a warning signal and tightened his grip on the neon-green floor mop. You swung the door open as quietly as you could.
A swoop of wings and scrapping of talons burst out of nowhere, heading straight for at you.
BAM
You slammed the door shut. You looked up at Heeseung as if to say, "Do you see my problem?"
"Holy shit," he stared at the wood of the closed door before turning to you. "How long were you trapped in there for?"
You shivered. "Way too long."
Heeseung set his jaw, pulling his hood up over his head like it was a helmet that could do anything against a set of very sharp claws. He tightened his grip on the mop.
"You don't need to do this," you said apologetically. "I can ask someone else."
"I doubt any of the housekeepers are up right now," he extended the mop handle to its maximum length, locking it in place with a click. "So unless you'd like to spend the night in the common room and hope to God it's gone by morning..."
You shook your head vigorously, turning to face the door, your knuckles white around its knob. It was like a spider. Better get it out of the house before you lost sight of it. But even spiders were better than an imp from the underworld.
"On the count of three," he whispered to you.
"Slowly," you nodded. "One..."
"Two,"
At your unified whisper of "Three-!", you twisted the knob creaking the door ajar as quietly as you could. Heeseung peaked in over your head.
"It's on the blinds," he whispered. You could feel his breath ruffling your hair. Snap out of it, you hissed at yourself. Deciding to panic about this scandalously close proximity another day, you creaked the door further open.
The owl perched itself rather uncomfortably on the blinds above your open window. It had its head tucked underneath one wing but looked relatively unharmed. You noted, with immense relief, that your room was also in a better state than you imagined. You guessed it hadn't really done much while you were out except to fly around in a confused circle, and you had been the one at fault for recreating a crime scene.
"It's right there," you hissed at it, gesturing at the wide-open window half a foot away from its talons.
The owl untucked its head and gave you a steely glare. You let out something that sounded a little like "meep!" and held up the textbook up to your face. Psh. Like you could scare it away with diagrams of cell membranes and respiration cycles.
"Let me try," Heeseung stepped in front of you, taking the door knob from your hand and pushing it open micrometer by micrometer. You stared at the owl from under his arm. It stared back at you. Everything about it was unflinching.
Heeseung took a slow, cautious step into the thresholds of your room, holding the mop at the ready. (Some part of your schoolgirl mind was screaming at the fact that the infamous hallway crush Lee Heeseung was in your bedroom!!)
You fell into silent step behind him, clutching your own weak excuse for a weapon and closing the door behind you. The last thing any one of you wanted was to have the owl fly out into the hall and wake up everyone in the house (and risk getting kicked out now that you've finally made contact with Lee Heeseung. Of course that's not what was really important).
The two of you crossed the room, holding your breath and freezing up your joints whenever the owl so much as blinked. At one point, it stretched its neck to an unnatural length and lifted its wings. Heeseung took an instinctive step back, nearly knocking you over. And like in all those cliché y/n moments, you would have promptly fell over on your behind if you hadn't caught hold of the back of his hoodie. Thankfully, Heeseung wasn't as much of a klutz as you were, and he braced himself to keep you both from falling over, reaching an arm back to steady you if you needed it.
The owl was so close now. Heeseung extended the Swifer's mop end. Slowly, carefully, he lifted it until it was inches away from the owl's talons. It flapped its wings and your heart almost stopped permanently.
"Hey, buddy," Heeseung murmured soothingly in a voice that would have put babies to sleep in seconds. He poked the mop carefully against the bird's scaly talons of death. "Need a ride outta here?"
Somehow, the owl decided it quite liked this human with a weird stick it was shoving in its face. It shifted its weight onto the stick, offering one, slow, inquisitive blink.
You pinched the corner of Heeseung's hoodie, ready to pull him backwards to safety or offer him as a sacrificial offering depending again on what the situation called for. You needed to be ready for anything.
Soon, he began to lift the Feathered Thing with Eyes of the Highest Hatred away from the blinds. Slowly, carefully, steadily, hushing soothing nothings all the way. You knew it was meant for the bird but damn, was it working a little too well.
The mop was now low enough that all the owl had to do was turn around and fly out. But it kept its gaze fixedly on the two of you, as if two humans had gone and flown into its bedroom.
"Don't you dare fly at me," you told those all-seeing eyes.
"You heard them," Heeseung warned, voice slow and deep as he slowly inched the mop--and its passenger--out the gaping window. "Don't. You dare. Fly."
The mop was now hanging a foot outside the window. You wondered how the scene would have looked like to a passerby below--a bright green Swifer mop poking out of an open third-story window at a ridiculous hour with--heaven help them--an OWL perched ever so precariously atop it.
The owl stared at the two of you, as if to say "What now?". The two of you stared right back at it, unflinching.
A stale eternity passed. Dust particles could have been heard resting lightly on the tabletop.
Then, without warning, Heeseung shook the mop vigorously, sparing no profanity in exclaiming, "Good fucking night to you, sir!"
The owl flew majestically off into the night as if it hadn't just been thrown off a mop head. You ran to the window and slammed it shut. You didn't realize you were laughing until you tried to say something and choked on the words. Heeseung was laughing, too, pulling his hood back and looking up at the Swifer in equal parts disbelief and reverence.
"I ca't believe that worked," you managed in between bouts of laughter.
"This is going on my list of greatest life achievements for sure."
"You could start a business."
"Of throwing owls out of windows?"
"Oh, for sure," you pointed at the Swifer. "You could even get sponsored by them."
Heeseung laughed, and your face warmed. "Would you testify to the quality of my services as my first client?"
"Sure," you piped. "Cute, extremely efficient, but nearly threw the mop out the window. I demand 5% of the profit, by the way."
Heeseung was still hung up on the second word you said, a smirk spreading across his face and eyes sparkling. "I should get going. It's late. You probably want to fix up." He waved at the crumpled sheets and scattered books littered across your little room.
He picked his way through the obstacle of your belongings, turning around at the door to say. "I can't guarantee you 5% of my smashing new start-up," Heeseung went along with the bit. "But how about we hang out some time instead? Preferably without any feathered wildlife present, if that's...cool with you?"
You were laughing a lot today. "Yeah, yeah," you leaned against the door frame. Maybe that owl wasn't such a demon after all. "I'd really like that."
---------------------------
bonus: From the trees, the owl watched the exchange between the two humans happen with a smug expression. Or at least, as smug as an expression an owl can muster.
Mission accomplished. With a triumphant "whooo!" it pushed off from the branch and flew off into the night.

To your other anons who were worrying about other people’s opinions on SMF pt2:
https://twitter.com/seokjinbit/status/1637439627442401281?s=46&t=0-12xA4kSNba5ny-jB-QWA
Proof that these kpop stans don’t know a GODDAMN thing they’re talking about. They spout bullshit because they know they rarely get called out and that other people will support them just because they don’t like Jimin will give them a pat in the back and amplify the BS.
Trust your ears. If the sounds good to you, then it’s good. Stop worrying about what other people think on what you should think about it. You have your own ears and your own brain and that’s all you need to have to listen to the music.

Ask 2: Bpp hi! I noticed something with JM's new song that I also saw when NewJeans released OMG. Immediately after OMG, Kpoppies said NewJeans was mocking mental illness and that Min Heejin was responsible for suicides in SM entertainment agency. It was like all kpop fandoms joined hands to hate on NJ saying the vocals were mid, they were trivializing mental illness and that Hybe was brainwashing fans to accept the song. But OMG became very popular with the general public and has gone viral. Since Jimin's solo album was announced, the rose colored glasses has fallen from my eyes. I used to think Armys are the worst fandom but now I see SM entertainment fans are the worst. Taemin fans dragging Jimin bc of an album called FACE??? I couldn't believe it. The same people are attacking Set Me Free saying that Jimin is mocking mental illness with the voices in auto-tune, that Armys ears are damaged and Hybe brainwashed Armys to accept Jimin as a good idol when he's inferior to Kai and Taemin. Each time I checked hit tweets dragging Jimin it was either a Shinee fan or Exo fan that started it. Now they're even attacking reactors and reviewers who are giving Jimin positive comments
https:// twitter .com/sarasfilter/status/1637457811515777024
Attacking reactors! Taemin stans are attacking reactors Bpp. My mouth is on the floor in shock. And then I saw they;re the same people who filed a petition with the PRESIDENT OF KOREA TO DISBAND BTS IN 2018!!!
https:// twitter .com/TheKoreaHerald/status/1049951488842166272
Those kpoppies haven't changed in 6 years!! Now I understand why Armys are how they are. Eff those SM fans. Jimin doesn't need them. Armys we should keep supporting JM!!!

Hi Anon(s),
Your link Anon in ask 1. Anon in ask 2, your link 1 and link 2.
Imagine how tired we are. Imagine how tired BTS's team is.
But, this...
Tumblr media
...is nearly a perfect example of what counts for 'criticism' or 'discourse' in k-pop spaces.
It's the exact same thing that happens every time: people with only passing knowledge at best on the subject of music/dance being the most eager and most confident in giving their hare-brained takes, and I guess it's just a coincidence most of the repeat offenders just happen to be antis, multis, or people who belong to rival fandoms.
Without fail, in the 10+ years I've been into k-pop, the people most eager to say they're providing critical discourse on a subject, fandom, or group, are people who hate/dislike said subject, fandom, or group. This has been true 10 times out of 10 for BTS, ARMY, and Jimin - in my experience at least. Sometimes they use neutral academic language or $10 words to give the impression they're knowledgeable about music/BTS/k-pop, but if you pay attention you'll realize these people have zero idea what they're talking about.
But that behaviour is the norm in k-pop spaces because that is what the system rewards, because of how toxically hyper-competitive the industry is.
Anon 2, I'd rather you didn't generalize all fans of SME groups, because obviously we don't know how widespread those sentiments towards Jimin are. But I will say something I've said before, which is that though I'd been following BTS since 2014, I only became ARMY in 2018; and the amount of tomfoolery towards BTS and ARMYs from k-pop stans in 2018, most of which was from fans of Big3 groups, was such that I'd never seen ever in the history of the genre, nor have I seen since. Like ARMYs were getting physically assaulted for no other reason than being ARMY and BTS were getting explicit insults thrown in their face five years into their career from industry mouthpieces backed by the Big3.
It. Was. Wild.
Anon 2, that petition you linked asking the government of Korea to step in to disband BTS, was just one of the several 'what the fuck' moments I had that year. It still makes me laugh till today, and is one reason why I can't take seriously anyone who ignores this history. Cause a lot of ARMYs from back then are still here, and believe me when I tell you that unfortunately, those dominant behaviours from k-pop stans haven't changed. What has changed is the ARMY fandom that since 2020 or so, now mirrors a lot of those behaviours rather than acting counter-culturally to the wider k-pop fandom.
It's nice you're both already noticing how things work here. And why it's best to focus on the actual music and the artists. Everything else is noise. If you're able to avoid 'discourse', that will save you time to focus more on the music. And after the latest Like Crazy poster, I feel we're all going to need as much energy as we can conserve for the beauty that Jimin is about to serve.

viviz's maniac's intrument sturcture is actually so unique n smart
idk the name of the instrument but they have only one beat stretching through the song until the first chorus, which is where a few more beats are added. then those beats continue until the second chorus, where even more beats are added. and the final chorus is like the result of the build-up ygm
also which group(s) do you think need more attention?
i say oneus and stayc. if those groups were under big4? you bet they'd be one of the biggest 4th gen groups. not to mention their songs, which are literal bops, and apart from one or two, their title tracks never miss. people fr be sleeping on amazing music!!
omg. i literally agree with all of this and it's like you've taken a peek inside my mind!
viviz maniac is such a good song, i cannot say this enough. the instrumental is so euphoric esp when it comes to the end with the amalgamation of all the beats. also doesn't help that the last chorus choreo hits the sweetest of spots hehe this song deserves all the recognition, it's so... gfriend. viviz. kpoppy. all good things.
i agree with you- oneus and stayc have so much potential, they've always done sth a bit different and unique and their sound is so pleasing to hear, they def would have had more recognition if they were from the big4 (or if ppl had taste bruh i know most of the ppl don't listen to groups that aren't from the big4 or close). and i don't think they've had a single miss-- they've always done their thing brilliantly and if we don't like a specific song, we should just accept that it's not our taste and move on instead of thinking that that cb was not it, yfeel? can't like every song from a group even when it's your fav 🤷‍♀️ and that's okay hehe. essay ahead:
i've been listening to oneus since debut, and they've always done that thing with their title tracks where all 3 chorus are different, with the first two being just one thing away from pure satisfaction- like they literally tease us throughout their entire song, and when the final chorus hits? utter relief, ascending to the clouds, 9999 levels of euphoric satisfactions achieved! not everyone can do that, and they do this incredibly well. their choruses always hit the spot! like in 'come back home' and 'lit' to name a few. i swear if ppl just listened to them, they literally have top tier discography
and stayc! i'm not familiar with their bsides, just the title tracks, but i bet their bsides are just as good. i think like everyone else my first song of them was asap and i started following their music soon after. i love how while trying different concepts and sounds, they're still so distinctively stayc. you just know it's a stayc song as soon as it plays. if i could have one word to describe their songs, it would be 'fun'. like even with their more sentimental song 'beautiful monster' (my underrated queen, literally my fav song from them) they have that fun element about them, bubbling with youth and it's so refreshing. i'm quite a fan of their recent cb too. they never miss, and i wish more ppl heard and appreciated them.
you can tell i'm serious about them LMAO i've written an essay. i do think kbands deserve a whole lot more too bc come on. they're just another level. however, for kpop groups... i must talk about weeekly.
weeekly literally have such amazing vocals and performances. i know prob everyone heard their song 'after school' but like, don't you think they have such a nostalgic sound about them? if you heard their recent cb 'vroom vroom', it's so... idk why it reminds me of sth and i can't quite put a finger on what. their songs do that to me. monday is amazing and has so much potential as a main vocalist, so does soeun. they're literally such a power vocal duo. i've been listening to them pre-debut so its sad to see they still don't get the recognition they deserve. idk if it's bc their company don't have the budget for them or they're not that popular that they don't have many comebacks but they always slay
dreamcatcher too. literally such an amazing group full of the best performers in the industry, dare i say. their presence, concepts, skills are on par with some of the greatest kpop groups and im glad they're finally getting some limelight. the fact that they have choreos like 'scream' and they're singing live blows me. they're like the ateez of girl groups.
there's so many more i could talk about- purple kiss, pixy -- both with unique concepts and amazing performances. i don't stan a lot of the 4th gen boy groups so i can't say for sure (i'm made for the girls i guess) but sf9 comes to mind.

this may sound out the blue but it’s not i need kpoppies to stop calling any vaguely homoerotic (or even intimate homosocial) imagery in kpop videos gay/queerbaiting. like i have a desperate need for this to stop. in 99,9% of cases that’s not what it is and u are continuing to water down a concept that is already so watered down.

hi hellooo pleasure to be here again!! i have come to rant
so last night i went a bit through your blog because i vaguely remembered that at some point there was a conversation about "stage presence" and how only kpoppies give a shit about it. and i found some asks from last year about this youtuber who made like a whole classification on stage presence with all this masculine overt dominant whatever categories. and i was mindblown because just yesterday i got recommended one of their videos and i was watching that stuff like wtf. that took me back to my early kpop days (which is like 2018 lol) when i also discovered the term stage presence and i thought i did something. anyway
i actually came here to talk about shinee's recent comeback!! from the little i've seen, there's some beef among shawols regarding wether shinee is really "shinee" anymore and i've seen some people saying they've unstanned bc of hard. like you do you ig
i've been thinking that i genuinely like the song, but indeed it doesn't have that classic shinee vibe. (also satellite best bside???) to me it's just like taemin key onew and minho got together to sing a song, but it's not "shinee" per se. and that's okay.
regarding performances i only watched the studio choom dance version and tbh for the first time in my limited shinee eras knowledge i thought that minho takes the cake for this one. idk if it's the fact that he's more stereotipically masculine (or at least coming across that way) or what, but honestly his part in the second chorus is my favorite. key is second favorite and again his part in the last chorus suits him a lot imo especially with the different choreo for it. as for taemin i'm glad he's bringing his poppiest pops forward because i swear i feels like that man's bones are snapping inside his body but other than that honestly i don't think he's enjoying this era too much fdjdvscg
hi hello again!!!
alksdjflksdafj not that youtuber again....they're a fucking plague i need them to read a fucking book for the love of god. just so profoundly uninformed, its mind boggling.
i've seen variations of this take since before the song even came out and honestly? i don't agree. you can not like the song for any number of reasons but the fact of the matter is that it IS a shinee song. what makes a shinee song is that it's their voices. that's all that makes a shinee song. for a group that has an extended history of genre experimentation, for fans to get mad or say it's "not them" when they DO do something experimental is cowardly and embarrassing. just admit that you don't like the song and move on. there will be a time when EVERY artist you love makes something that you don't. that's fine and normal. don't hide behind incorrect assertions like "it's an nct reject" or that it doesn't sound like them. they're artists that still want to explore and grow and they have agency to do that. it's not a failing to admit that you don't like something that your faves made, and i also think it's rude and denies them identity and agency to say that 'it doesn't sound like them', especially with this particular group.
personally what i think people are subconsciously getting at when they say a song doesnt sound like shinee is that it sounds incomplete because it's missing a voice. the same discourse circled around with dcm came out and people are not acknowledging that shinee is never going to sound the same as they did pre 2017 (2018 technically bc jonghyun's voice is still on tsol). they just aren't. the chemical makeup of the melodies is going to be different forever and people need to acknowledge and accept that. the four of them are doing their best to fill in that hole and theyre doing a great job, but there is still a hole.

Three songs: 13, 14, 15 (am I Uno Reverso-ing you? A little XD)
“the three songs” ask set
13. three songs you want at your funeral I'm going to assume that at whatever stage I plan for this, I'll always be a dramatic bitch. 1. One WInged Angel - either Remake version (because that is intense) or Advent Children version (because I love that version and there will be exactly 2 people there that know it and not be surprised) 2. The Nazgul - from Fellowship of the Ring (I just love that it sounds ominous like you lot think just because I'm gone I'm no longer a problem - think again) 3. Hide and Seek by Lizz Robinett (but a really creepy version because I am nothing if not a chaos gremlin)
14. three songs you want at your wedding This one was easy, I've just gone for the softest love songs I can find for different points during the wedding.
1. How can a moment last forever? - Celine Dion 2. The story - Brandi Carlisle 3. Love you 'till the end - Niamh McGlinchey
15. three songs you want to dance with your love to
This one is a lot harder than I thought it might be.
Like what's the occasion? What's the type of dancing? Where are we when we are dancing? Like I could pull up a list of more classical songs for that type of dancing, or more kpoppy songs that are good for a bit of raving, or the 80s/90s hits that are more typical for a party...
This question leads to more questions than answers.

My little cousin is a tween and she got into SHINee from Don’t Call Me, which as a Odd Eye, Symtpoms and Dream Girl SHINee fan was uhhhhh weird to say the least and she LOVES this new track. But the entire time all I could think was. “This sounds like a song meant for NCT, but a bad song meant for NCT like sticker”. Are they just trying to get younger kpoppie fans because I guess that’s working since they’ve got a tweenie fan base starting up. I mean I’m not expecting Symptoms level of singing but the Story of Light with All Day All Night and Good Evening was pretty good… can they please let SHINee SING AGAIN??? (Sorry English isn’t exactly my first language so I hope this makes sense?) also thank you for getting me into Leo! I wouldn’t have discovered his last album if not for you! Which is funny because I remember back in your glocknee era when you still were sort of a shawol but understandable level of decreased interest considering how their music had changed so much. Hope you have a fantastic day ahead!
like i said the other day sm is really having a company wide identity crisis and is trying to market to tweens en masse 😭😭😭😭 really saying fuck u to anyone 21+ which is weird bc sm has plenty of 20 somethings in the nct dungeon to attract tweenies. why the fuck are shinee and exo dressed like tater tots? THEY'RE MEN. and shinee was getting young ass fans just being themselves. when i was a teenager i was into the GROWN groups bc they were cool. i saw the voodoo doll album cover and was like oh these are MEN!!! and like you said its totally possible to appeal to a younger crowd while maintaining what made you special....aka FUCKING SINGING. and yes this made perfect sense pls don't worry at all 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 and ofc THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO THE LEOSPEL!!!!!! *clinging to his pant legs* one of the last grown ass men we got im so frrrrr
