Hi hi! I saw your requests were open so I had an idea for some Twst boys well Floyd, Jamil, Rook, and Vil, weird group I know but they're my faves
So I've been dealing with burnout recently with school and I can imagine MC being a lot worse with Crowley and all- How would the boys react if one day MC just- passed out, like just randomly with out prompting. So maybe some comfort fluff?
Take your time you're amazing!
(thank you for your patience boo. I know this has been in my inbox for a while. I hope your burnout is better, and if not I hope this provides a little levity)
Part Two Part Three
Tumblr media
He's been so boooooooored lately. Shrimpy, why ya gotta spend all that time working for Crowley? You should be hanging out with him! But that's just kind of your way, and he knows he can't really stop you. So he mopes around the lounge while you're off doing who knows what.
When you stop by the Monstro Lounge, he is so fucking excited! It's the most alive he's seemed in weeks! But when you apologetically tell him that you're here to discuss food at the upcoming festival that Crowley has "graciously" allowed you to plan and manage with Azul, he gets pouty and storms off.
He walks into the VIP room to apologize to you just in time to see you collapse. He immediately is scooping you up, not even processing what Azul is trying to tell him.
He takes you to his room, clears the clutter off his bed, decides it's not clean enough for, then lays you on Jade's bed. He grabs his fluffiest blanket, and wraps you up in it. He doesn't want to leave your side,  so he texts Jade to bring you a glass of water, and a mug of tea.
When he wakes up, he makes you drink both. He's a little intimidating about it,  but it's just because he's worried and wants to make sure you feel better fast.
When you've drunk all that, he asks what happened. You tell him you've been so busy running around for this event, that you have had little time to take care of yourself, and your brain kind of shut itself off for a minute. He acts oddly calm during the explanation, then flops on top of you.
"I'm staying right here until you get some sleep, Shrimpy."
Once he's certain you are resting, he and Jade take a little trip to see a certain crow.
When you wake up, Floyd excitedly tells you that him and Jade are now your partners on the project! Yay! Floyd ends up doing a lot of the work, even without any prompting. It's a win win for him. You can take time to recover, and he has an excuse to be around you.
For some reason, when the event is over….your workload from Crowley is significantly smaller. How about that?
Tumblr media
Jamil knew this school was run stupidly and inneficiently. But when Crowley makes you, a student, fill in for a teacher who is on his honeymoon, as a professor, that's when he's lost all faith in NRC.
He offers to help you immediately, but you insist that you can handle it. He tries to argue with you on it, but you tell him that he already has too much to do, and you'd hate yourself if he added your workload to his. He begrudgingly lets you alone about it for now. He doesn't want to distress you.
You're grading papers in the Scarabia kitchen when you pass out mid sentence. He's calm under pressure, so he sighs, and carries you to the lounge laying you on one of the lavish sofas the Asim family provided. (He guesses they are good for something)
Kalim chooses that moment to walk into the room, and immediately panics. Jamil let's him know things are under control, then sends him to get a cold cloth. When he returns he places that on your forehead, and waits.
The second your eyes are open, he initiates snake whisper. He asks how long you've been awake, and you tell him the truth. You haven't slept in 30 hours, due to grading the 100+ midterm papers that needed to be finished by the end of the week. You hadn't eaten in 12 hours, and at some point every paper was looking the same
Once he gets his information, he tells you he will be finishing the grading, and that after this you will not be helping Crowley until HE tells you it's a reasonable workload. Does he feel bad for hypnotizing you? Yes. Does he think this is the only way to make your brain take a break? Also Yes.
Once he releases you from the spell, he tells you you passed out, and that he's going to be taking care of you for a couple days. He sleeps on the floor while you take his bed. He stays up late and finishes the papers. He cooks you foods full of proteins to get your energy back up. He gives you warm milk with honey and cinnamon to help you sleep.
He tells Crowley that he hypnotized you, and you will no longer be doing what he says without Jamil screening the workload. Bird man pouts about having to actually do his job instead of dumping everything on you, but your workload becomes much more reasonable after that.
Tumblr media
Vil would have to be very busy to not notice his sweet potato is not getting the rest they need.
That said, he'd had to take two weeks off school after his new fashion line had had some major set backs. While he was gone, Crowley had swooped in with the paperwork Vil usually did, added the paperwork he was supposed to be doing, and you'd fallen out of the self care routine that Vil had worked so hard to make a habit for you.
When he'd come back, he was working on his make up homework, while you were working on what he was horrified to find out late was his paperwork. He notices the bags under your eyes, and the way you rub them every couple minutes as though your vision is blurry, but he doesn't want to ruin what is the first moment he's had with you in two weeks. And it's so peaceful, the two of you quietly working in the same room. He's getting distracted by thinking about a future like this, when he feels you slump against him.
At first he thinks it's a bid for affection, which he is more than happy to give, but when you aren't responsive, he gets worried. He pulls out some smelling salts from his drawer (cause of course he has those) and once the smell brings you back to him, he runs his fingers along your scalp and asks what's been going on.
Once you tell him, he scowls, and walks into the bathroom for a moment. When he comes back, he tells you he's drawn you a bath. When you go into the bathroom, you see it's not only a bath, but a Bubble bath, where the bubble changed color and floated, and then popped in a shower of glitter.
Once you're in the bath, he puts a facemask on you, turns on some soothing music, and dims the lights. He assured you he will be back and leaves the bathroom. He stations Rook outside the bathroom door, because he knows he will hear it if something is wrong, then goes to yell at Crowley. (He's mortified when he finds out half of it was his paperwork)
He comes back to his room, and Rook tells him he can tell by your breathing that you are peacefully snoozing in the bath. Vil re-enters as Rook leaves, and wakes you up. He helps you finish cleaning up, then lets you borrow his softest pajamas. He makes you a smoothie, then holds you close, running his fingers through your hair, and pressing soft kisses to the crown of your head, until you drift off. He's taking you with him on his next business trip.
Tumblr media
Like Vil, there would have to be extreme circumstances for Rook to not have stopped you before the point of collapse. (In fact, we're going to work with that idea)
All the janitors had gone on strike. (Surprise) Luckily for Crowley, he had a perfect non magical student who would be so generous to fill in since their food, board, and classes were all free.
It was a job for multiple magic users, not ONE magicless student. You made it halfway through the day, before Rook gave up just stalking you, and decided to discuss how shaky your muscles had gotten and how you hadn't taken a lunch break yet.
He seductively backs you against a chair to trick you into sitting down for a moment, and then gracefully sits in your lap…and refuses to get up. His petit lapin will not work themselves to exhaustion. That wouldn't be very beautiful.
He texts Epel to bring you both lunch. You think once you eat, he will let you continue cleaning, despite how sore your body is. You are so silly! It's adorable that you would think that! He giggles then kisses your forehead. And that's when it fully hits you how trapped you are.
He carries you off to his room, and makes you lay down while he massages your tired muscles. You get lulled into complacency while he does so. He thinks it's adorable how safe you feel near a hunter such as himself.
Once your body is fully restored, you both pay a visit to Crowley, where Rook's eyes go dark, despite his ever present smile, and he tells him in no uncertain terms that you will not be a janitor, and that if your finances were truly an issue, he could take it up with Rook.
While Crowley would normally jump on any opportunity for money like that, Rook's eyes have a silent warning in them. Not that you notice. You're just enamored with your boyfriend acting as your knight in shining armor. Just the way he likes it.

Oof I'm kinda scared to ask... Why do you not want to be an artist professionally?
Its just like, incredibly miserable in my experience.
Everyone wants their dream job of being paid to draw whatever the hell they want but 99% of the time you are hired and tasked to draw things that you don't have a lot of interest in, professionally speaking, and constantly getting your artistic efforts undermined by the rest of the team (this is esp. true in the videogame industry) artists always try to push for better designs and get their takes watered down for the sake of general public pleasing. Also you don't have a security blanket unless you're under long term contract. Most freelancers live gig to gig with the fear of not being able to support themselves if they don't take a job to take a break. Videogame and movie jobs arent stable because companies never keep the art teams, they are laid off and rehired whenever there is a new project
During my major, I drew nonstop for 4 years for class. Not always things I enjoyed, but also not always things I didnt like. In fact I enjoyed my major immensely! It was so fun. But the burnout is very, very real, and the workload was similar (even inferior to) regular art jobs. What happens if you like to draw in your off time? You spend your days making and pumping out art nonstop for hours, and then on your free time breaks you draw some more? I personally couldn't do it. I just wanted to do other things
And like.... I spent the first three years being told by teachers (people with stable, contract based jobs) how cool of a job it is to do art, and then the last year getting grilled on how insanely hard it is to make it out there. If you don't have connections, money, an audience, a studio, it's actually impossible. You need to be your own lawyer, abide by the very strict self employment rules that take a severe chunk out of your earnings. Do all of your finance/schedule/marketing etc while on top of that constantly producing work (I know there's people who can do it but, personally, I cannot) I really admire the people who were able to build themselves up as artists from the ground like this (because its definitely possible, just insanely hard)
Also, making something you love into your job ends up being miserable too. I experienced this with patreon, which I posted to as like a chill thing and it just got increasingly hard to make content for it or just post in general, even drawing my own ocs and sharing stuff about them started to feel like a chore.
Maybe it's just me though, this has just been my personal experience but yeah in general I realized I am immensely happier just keeping art as a hobby or its gonna suck my soul out (Since I already experienced it)
I don't mean to discourage anyone, I think the world in general needs more artists. But for that we would need to actually be taken seriously and valued, which sadly we are not, at all. And if there's anyone reading that is considering art as a job: it is absolutely grueling. It's not an easy job. Even if you desperately love art it can suck the life out of you and the joy for what you do
(As an extra sidenote. Artists are usually exploited using this mentality as well. That they are supposed to love their job. So they expect you to work your wrists off "For the passion". Dont fall victim to it)

Oh boy! Time to be RWDE again!
Volume 1:
Why is Glynda set up with every possible anime trope of being Ruby’s mentor, yet she gets shafted?
Who thought two minutes and forty seconds is an episode? No, that’s a clip. A short.
Speaking of episode length (or lack thereof), what is up with this pacing…
So…team RWBY aren’t going to ever speak to each other? Why not assign them to different teams?
Borrowing from Young Justice, Weiss could lead the team until Ruby is mature enough to handle the role. Why yes, I do think Weiss has the head to be a leader, or at the very least, try to be a leader and fail, teaching her how to be a better team player. Character Arcs 101.
You had Weiss having a internal dialogue (great! Do that!) and then drop it to never use it on her or any other character. That’s a staple of anime, geniuses.
-we’re not copying Soul Eater down to the school layout, we swear- Uh huh. Sure.
Why is Ruby giving Jaune advice she doesn’t know herself??? How did she learn/know that???
Also PS- While Emerald’s redemption is something RT did, it could have been pulled earlier in Volume 2 or Volume 5, but that requires actual good writing and planning.
So many points, so little time with this show fr.
1:
RWBY just hates women. Like I'm not even joking, this show hates women despite being a female-led show. Glynda was given the oppotunity to be this figure for not just Ruby, but the team as a whole, but every chance she gets is given to the male teachers for no reason.
Professor Port was the one to lecture Weiss about being a good teammate and to not allow her ego to blind her to her own shortcomings, even if that scene is dogshit in retrospect. Professor Oobleck was the one to challenge Team RWBY's ideals around being Huntresses, to the point where we got depth into his character on why he wanted to be a Huntsman.
Even when Yang had lost her arm and needed guidance, Port and Oobleck were there with Tai for that arc. Glynda never gets a chance to even talk properly with our main team, or even flesh herself out as a character to the point that the most we got is from the AA game.
2.
The reason why V1 was like 20 episodes long. The episodes were like five minutes long and would've done better just shoving the parts together. It also meant that the pacing was really slow because we'd be waiting a week for a continuation only to have another five minute long episode.
3.
Interteam relationship outside the partnerships have always been an issue tbh. It's just more egrigious now because it's been like ten years and Ruby/Blake are barely friends, let alone close enough that Blake would admire Ruby like she said she does. Classic told =/= shown.
4.
I think the whole leadership issues with Weiss and Ruby were concluded far too quickly, they could barely be counted as arcs. Weiss has justified issues with Ruby not taking Beacon or her role as their leader seriously, but rather than that being built up more and having the two actually grow together, they just get lectured at and immediately change.
5.
Unpopular opinion but I hate the inner monologue used in anime and I'm glad RWBY doesn't go into it all that much outside of that one time with Weiss. The issue rises because they don't ever let the watchers in on what these characters are thinking or feeling, and even contradict themselves over the volumes.
6.
The advice Ruby gave to Jaune is honestly bad advice? A leader isn't someone who puts the team before themselves, that just opens up for the burnout and idiolising the leader, which is exactly what happened to Ruby in the later volumes. But they didn't show that the advice she gave them was not meant to be something taken seriously.
If they even remember what Ruby told him when they can't even keep track what happen in the volume before.
7.
The whole thing with Emerald's redemption is that she really wasn't given much to flesh out. She started the show straight up ignoring Cinder's orders to go out of her way to be more evil and violent, murdering a minority who ran from an organisation she has no part of. Only for the show to try and paint her later as a lost soul who doesn't realise how bad Cinder is for her.
Nevermind the actual redemption doesn't have her face consequences for the fact that she murdered countless people without much care and only ever pulled sad faces rather than, you know, having actual character to push her redemption.

To say that Doll was in a bad mood would be an understatement. She was beyond fuming, all because of some stupid argument from the other young and popular worker, Lizzy. She and her other popular friends were talking about the embarrassing things that they saw the “weird kids” do in the cafeteria. Doll would just stay silent, she never knew why they would try to bully other drones for who they were, it made her upset. Doll would normally help them by getting their stuff from the floor or wherever Lizzy and her gang would throw them around in the school.
Just when the purple haired drone was dozing off, someone piped up about Doll being with one of the outsiders in the hallway helping them pick up their books from the floor, when Lizzy heard about it, she was furious. It was considered to be “taboo” for the popular gang since the other drones were considered, “lower-classed”. The two ended up having a fight over it, and being the bigger person, Doll left the lunchroom before things could get ugly.
During P.E. class, Doll had noticed that her uniform was missing from her locker, only to find it in the garbage. Thankfully, the teacher had an extra just in her size, but unfortunately for her, the theme of the outfit was superheroes, fit for a five-year-old droneling. Not even a few minutes later after getting out of the locker room, the students laughed or made fun of Doll behind her back, “Weirdo.”, “I didn’t know that the Russian drone liked heroes, what a baby.”, “Hey! Nice uniform, did you get it at the hero of losers convention?”.
Doll was glad that that was her last class for the week, otherwise, she would’ve broken her mother’s rule of hurting others with her solver.
The young worker was currently in her room, laying on the bed comfortably in her pjs thinking about the events that happened. Khan had left a letter for her and Uzi saying that he’s staying at his job for a little longer for something important.
Probably about his dumb doors Doll thought before going back to sulk about her day.
But come to think of it, where was Uzi? She would normally come straight home every Friday unless she was hanging out with her other friends or outside of the bunker looking for scraps to mend into her gadgets that she always worked on.
Just as Doll thought about Uzi, her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice greeting her.
“Heya Doll!”
The purple clad worker popped up from beside her bed, causing Doll to jump in surprise and almost fall off the bed by the sudden appearance. Doll sits up and turns her head towards Uzi glaring at her before going back to her neutral expression.
“What do you want Uzi?” Doll asks still irritated from the spook
Uzi only smiles at her older relative while rocking back and forth with her heels. It was typical for Doll to act neutral around almost everyone, sometimes it’s hard to tell what she’s even feeling.
“Oh nothing, just wanted to spend some quality bonding time with my favorite person!” Uzi gushed
“If by ‘bonding time’ you mean irritating me, then you’re doing a wonderful job.” Doll sneered furrowing her eyebrows
“Now leave me alone, I don’t feel like entertaining you or your ideas.”
The quiet cheerleader turned her body to face the wall from Uzi only to feel arms wrap around her in an embrace. Doll grumbled under her breath and turned her head at Uzi again, more irritated than before.
“C’mon Doll, Dad’s gone to do boring stuff at his job! And you’re the only drone that I want to spend time with!” Uzi complained
“What about your inventions?” Doll asked
“I don’t feel like working on them right now.” Uzi replied
“Your friends?”
“Emily’s gone to her family gathering and Sam’s working at the garage for extra credit.”
Doll sighed internally at her situation. She knew that Uzi wouldn’t leave her alone at this rate, and when she wants to do something, there’s no stopping her from doing it, even if Doll says no multiple times. Plus, Uzi does that stupid puppy eye maneuver that still works.
As much as Doll would like to be by herself, she might as well play along with Uzi.
“Fine, what do you want to do?” Doll groaned out
“Well, I have some video games in my room. We can play them in there!” Uzi suggested excitingly
“As long as it’s not those cringey ones.”
The girls go into Uzi’s room to play the game that they would select. The younger pulls out a box filled with video games that probably dated back a thousand years ago and started to dig into the pile trying to fish out a good game that they would both enjoy.
Uzi had always had an interest in taking movies and games that she comes across outside of the bunker. She always claimed that she ‘borrowed’ the discs and consoles even though that the owners were already dead. But where? No drone knows.
“Let’s see…we have fighting, rpg—“
Uzi cuts off on what she was about to say when she pulls out some sort of…dating game? At least, that’s what Doll thought with an anime boy’s face barely on the cover and her cousin’s bright, purple blushing visor. She didn’t say anything though, only chuckling softly at Uzi’s frantic attempts of hiding the game again.
“Woah! Whoops! You weren’t supposed to see that!” Uzi chuckles nervously as she immediately puts the game back into the box.
“Oh! We have Mario Kart, wanna play that?” Uzi asked turning to face her older cousin with the game in hand
“Yeah sure, I have nothing better to do anyway.” Doll responded sarcastically rolling her digital eyes
“Cool! Thanks Doll!”
The two workers start to play Mario Kart on the bed in silence. As they progressed through the tracks, Uzi notices that Doll was more tense and easily annoyed when she fell off the map or lost, sometimes cursing in Russian when it happened. Doll was always a stoic drone, almost everyone knew that, but Uzi knows when something’s bothering her and it wasn’t the game or herself.
“Hey, something on your mind Doll? You seem more ticked off than usual.” Uzi asked concerned
The younger turned her head to the older, not paying attention to the current track that they were on. Doll pauses the game and turns her head to face Uzi, not saying a word, but her facial expression said it all.
“Was it because of school?” Uzi asked
Doll sighs and hangs her head as she nods, she turned her attention back to the screen in front.
“They made fun of me today. Calling me a loser and all, but it doesn’t matter.”
“But you’re one of the most popular girls in school, why would they even do that-?” Uzi was interrupted as Doll butted in
“I said it doesn’t matter! Why would you even care anyway?” Doll retorted, her hands squeezing the controller tightly to the point where it might break
“Woah hey! That’s valuable!” Uzi exclaimed taking the controller out of her hands
Uzi sighs as she puts it on the other side
“Because you were always there for me when I was upset over something.”
It was true what Uzi said, she was there for her, even if it meant getting into some kind of trouble or danger. That was what an older member of the family is supposed to do, not the other way around.
“It’s none of your concern anyway…I’m supposed to be the oldest, I can handle it by myself.” Doll said crossing her arms
“It is my concern Doll, you’ve been pent up about whatever happened at school since you came home today.” Uzi stated
“I wanna help you Doll, just like you helped me all those times. You can talk to me.”
The rebel placed a hand on Doll’s shoulder in comfort. Doll flinched a bit from the touch, but soon relaxed. The red clad drone looks at Uzi, not saying anything.
Uzi raised her arms as if to offer Doll a hug, trying to light up the mood. Doll still looked at Uzi now with a look that said ‘You can’t be serious right now’.
“C’mon, I know you want it. Ya want it!” Uzi chirped, she beckoned Doll to come over
To Uzi’s surprise, Doll unfolded her arms and embraced her. A tight hug at first, but it soon soften a little bit. Uzi smiled and wrapped her arms around Doll. After a while the two workers let go to look at each other again.
“Feeling any better now?” Uzi asked
“Yeah.” Doll replied
“Alright, lay it on me. What happened?”
“So I broke one of our stupid rules just by interacting with an outsider, but that’s not all.”  Doll said in an annoyed tone
Feeling that the older was going to rant, the younger drone made herself comfortable on the bed and listened. Doll had ranted on to Uzi about how her day went and how she wanted to kill them when they go back to school, which she totally understood.
“And after that, Rebecca decides to humiliate me even more by making me trip in the middle of the hallway—in front of a whole crowd!”  Doll shouted raising her hands up with frustration.
“Yep, that’s what she does best.” Uzi chuckled out
Uzi placed a comforting hand on Doll’s shoulder, squeezing it gently.
“But you don’t have to worry about it. By the time we get back, no one is gonna remember.” Uzi reassured smiling softly
“Unless she reminds them about it.“
“Then I’ll just have to hack that out of her memory banks.” Uzi replied
“Don’t! You know what happened to Braidon when you tried to hack him!” Doll frantically said
“I know, his head was on fire for a week!”
There was silence in the room until both workers started to giggle about the thought of Rebecca’s head catching on fire; they both knew that the blue drone would worry more about her hair than anything else. The laughter soon died down to be met with silence once more. Uzi was the first to speak up.
“But seriously, we can tell dad about those wannabe mean girls messing with you.” Uzi said
Doll looks at Uzi and frowns. She knew how her uncle was protective over his children, but what if he does something drastic?
“I don’t know Uzi, what if he actually hurts them? They’re jerks sure, but I don’t want them six feet under us.” Doll said in a slightly worried tone
“We can explain to him about the issue. Besides, he understands that they’re our age, I’m sure he won’t hurt them. If anything, he’ll probably just tell the teacher or something.” Uzi reassured
“Yeah, you’re right,” Doll sighs
“Thanks Uzi, you’re really are the best little cousin a drone could ask for.” Doll smiled
Doll placed a hand on the younger’s head and ruffled up her hair affectionately. Uzi giggled at the sudden noogie as she batted Doll’s hand away.
“Don’t mention it, now back to the game. Rainbow road?” Uzi asked as she handed Doll her controller back.
“Sure.”
The two start to play Mario Kart again. After their talk, Doll wasn’t as tense as before and her mood was much better too. Though she would occasionally fall into last place, Doll didn’t mind, it was a nice time to actually cooldown from what had happened earlier.
Uzi smiles as they both raced the track, both wanting to win like any other two competitive players would. Before she knew it, they were on the final lap, and Doll was currently in the lead.
No! Uzi thought
She had to find a way to keep Doll from winning, but what?
Suddenly, a lightbulb popped onto her screen, indicating that she had an idea. Uzi couldn’t help the mischievous smile growing on her face. While Doll was focused on the road ahead of her, the purple clad drone snuck up from behind and began to lightly poke at her sides.
“Boop!”
Doll flinched from the sudden touch, causing her character to almost fall off the road.
“Hey! That’s cheating!” Doll chided
“It’s only cheating if you’re using hacks!” Uzi replied back
She continued her playful assault on Doll, switching from her sides to her stomach and back again, all while having a smug grin on her face.
Doll was trying to avoid the mischievous digits from poking and prodding her sides. A squeak or soft yelp coming out every time Uzi was able to land one. Giggles were starting to bubble up in the back of Doll’s throat the longer she resisted.
“Stohop! This ihisin’t fair!” Doll proclaimed a smile starting to form on her face
Uzi ignored Doll as the poking turned to scribbling. Uzi completely forgetting about the race, and only focusing on making Doll lose.
The unexpected change causes Doll to shriek and lose some focus on the game, trying to get Uzi to stop.
“Ah! Hahahahaha! Uzi! Stohohop!” Doll giggled out while trying to remain focused on the track
“You’re gohohonna make me lohohose!”
“That’s the point silly!” Uzi lets out an “evil” laugh as she dug deeper into her cousin’s sides.
Doll flopped onto the bed to try to escape her cousin’s fingers only for them to follow her down, tracing and making various shapes on her back. Doll began to thrash around as her laughter turned into hysterics. At the moment she was glad that they didn’t have any neighbors around to hear them, that would be embarrassing in itself if other drones were to hear.
“Hahahahahaha! Uzi! Please! Plehehease!” Doll’s screen began to blush a bright red
“Please what? Please tickle you more? Happy to!” Uzi cooed as she went faster
“You know what I meant you little na-hAhaHark!”
Doll was rendered back to hysterics once again before she could even finish her sentence. But she didn’t mind the playful moment with Uzi. She knew that this was her way of cheering her up, so why stop?
Uzi’s tickle attack was suddenly halted when the game’s music chimed indicating that the final round was over, finally giving Doll time to breath. The girls look up to see that Doll had finished in last place.
Doll groaned while Uzi whoops in victory. Doll looks at her cousin who was wearing a smug smile proud of what she did.
“And-what was that for exactly?” Doll asks in an annoyed tone
“Oh, just to mess with ya, your reactions were priceless!” Uzi chuckled out, wiping a fake digital tear from her visor
“It’s not that funny.”
“It was to me.”
Doll was a bit upset that she lost because of Uzi, she didn’t like losing to cheaters.
Then a thought had came in Doll’s head, and like Uzi, she also couldn’t help but smile mischievously at her little cousin which made her shiver. And Uzi knew what would happen next.
“H-hey no hard feelings right Doll?” Uzi asked anxiously
“Doll?”
Uzi didn’t have time to react as Doll used her solver to pin her gently but firmly to the bed. Doll then scooted her body near Uzi, wiggling her digits teasingly at her.
“You think that’s funny huh?” Doll asked in a chilling tone
“I’ll give you something to really laugh about!”
Uzi’s eyes hollowed as her cousin’s servos were getting closer. She knew that Doll would get back at her, but it was a good opportunity to mess with Doll and to get her to lighten up more.
“N-now Doll-we can talk about this!” Uzi stammered
Doll chuckled in response before she continued to lean towards Uzi.
“Oh? And what is it that you’d like to talk about?” Doll asked, an amuse smirk growing
“Well, there’s a ton of things we can talk about-“
“What specifically Uzi?”
Uzi paused to think, but she starts to panic even more when Doll continued to move her hands closer to her stomach. She smiles out of anticipation as her eyes dart around the room for something-anything to get her out of this mess.
“Uh-we can talk about…doors!”
Doll pauses on her descent, confused. She knew this was her attempted on distracting her, but doors? Maybe Uncle Khan did get to Uzi with his obsession on the wooden object.
“Doors? Why would you want to talk about doors?” Doll chuckled out
Uzi felt Doll’s solver loosen around her wrists from the unsuspecting answer that the rebel gave, perfect. The rebel repositioned herself to where it looked like she was puffing up her chest.
“Well you see, doors are practically our dad’s legacy since it helped us hide from the humans during the war and—“
With her opened opportunity, Uzi quickly gets up from the bed and dashes out of the room. Doll’s eyes hollow in surprise at the sudden dash, she tries to grab Uzi again but barley brushes her arm as she escapes.
“Hey! Get back here!” Doll shouts
She quickly gets up from the bed and gives chase. The cousins start to play cat and mouse around the house, avoiding furniture or other objects lying around that could slow them down.
Uzi stopped inside of the kitchen to catch her breath. She can’t run forever, might as well hide until Doll’s over her revenge. The younger tries to find a hiding spot and looks at the cubbies. Quickly and quietly, Uzi climbed up inside just in time before Doll could see her. She covers her mouth to stop her heavy breathing as her cousin looks for her, from what she could hear, Doll was just entering the kitchen.
Doll comes inside of the kitchen, looking for Uzi but to no avail. So that’s the game she was going to play huh?
“Oh no! Where could my darling cousin be?” Doll exaggerated placing a hand over her screen
“Papa would ground—no, kill me if I can’t find her!”
Doll continued to wail on her “missing” cousin
“Please come out Uzi! I promise I won’t hurt you if you do.”
Uzi stifled back a giggle hearing Doll’s terrible acting. Doll was trying to lure her out into false security. She didn’t fall for it though, it was the oldest trick in the book, everybody knew that! As long as she stayed inside of the cubbies, Uzi would be just—
Crash!
Crap…
The sudden clash of plates and glasses gave Uzi a spook as she jolted. Doll spotted something move within the cubby. She smirked knowing who it was, but she wanted to keep up the acting.
“What’s this in the cubby? Is someone in there?” Doll asked in a silly tone
Doll’s hand slowly opened the door to reveal a cowering Uzi looking at her with hollowed eyes.
“There you are! I found you!” Doll announced happily
Uzi lets out a gasp as she faced Doll. She tried to leap out of the confined space to find another place to hide, but was stopped mid-air by Doll’s solver holding her in place.
“No! Doll let me gohoho! Please!” Uzi begged trying and failing to break free
Doll only chuckled pulling Uzi close enough for her to grab and sling her over her shoulder.
“Not a chance, you made me lose. Now I have to get you back, sibling rule.”
Doll carries Uzi back into her bedroom and plops her back onto the bed, earning a small “omph!” from the younger. Doll pins Uzi down just as she did before, this time not letting her go.
“So Uzi, are you ready for your karma?” Doll asks in a teasing tone, her fingers resumed wiggling as they descended towards Uzi’s midsection again.
“T-this isn’t even karma! This is straight up reve-nee!” Uzi squealed just as she felt Doll’s fingers nimbly dance on her stomach. She squeezes her eyes shut as she tries to hold back her giggles.
Doll smirks at Uzi’s attempt to hold back her laughter, but she knew that she’ll break eventually. So Doll continues to scribble her digits all over, slowing down and speeding up the tickling at times. To her surprise, Uzi was still stifling her laughter, but  she was at her limit, all she needed was one more push.
“Hm, not gonna crack are we?” Doll asked while scribbling her fingers on Uzi’s sides rapidly
Uzi responded by shaking her head. Fearing that if she opened her mouth, laughter would pour out, letting Doll get her satisfaction.
“Figured, you’re always stubborn,” Doll huffed
“But what about…here?”
Doll quickly dug into Uzi’s neck, earning a high-pitched squeal. That was what finally broke her dam as Uzi opens her eyes and lets out cackles and occasional squeaks. The purple hair shrugged her shoulders trying shield her neck form the onslaught of tickles.
“Pfft-haahahahahaha! Stahahap!” Uzi cackled out
“Get your hahahands out of thehehere!”
“But Uzi, you’ve trapped my hands, so I can’t get out.” Doll replied calmly as if they were having a normal conversation
To emphasize her point, Doll wiggled her fingers even faster. Uzi gave another shriek before giggling once again.
“Uzi, you gotta relax your shoulders if you want me to stop.” Doll chirped
“Ahahahahahahaha! Nohoho!”
“It’s either that, or I get to tickle your neck for the next hundred years.” Doll said as she started to dig in the sensitive area
“Ah! Okay! Okahahehey!”
Uzi relaxed her shoulders, releasing Doll’s hands. In return, the red clad drone had kept her promise and lets Uzi go. Uzi panted as she tried to regain her strength.
“So, what did we learn today?” Doll asked in an amused tone as she crossed her arms
“T-to not tickle you while playing a video game.” Uzi heaved raising her pointer finger before collapsing it back to the soft surface
“Good, now then, say that I’m the best Mario Kart player.”
“What?! No way! You lost that round! Besides, you’re only doing this because you can’t face the fact that I’m a better player than-yohohou!” Uzi argued but was subdued back to giggles as Doll starts back tickling again on her sides and belly.
In instinct, she tried to curl into a ball, only for Doll to reach other tickle spots to make her uncurl.
“That was only because you were tickling me.” Doll countered
“Now say it! ‘I’m the best Mario Kart player’.”
“Hahahahahaha! Nehehehever! You’re bad anywahahay!” Uzi quickly covers her mouth after what she said, realizing far too late that she goofed up badly
Doll gasped and puts her hand over her chest, “offended” by Uzi’s comment. She narrows her eyes at the rebel.
“Okay now you’re gonna get it.”
As she said this, Doll moved up to Uzi’s underarms, causing her to jolt before squirming and cackling like a mad drone.
“Looks like I caught myself a witch!” Doll teased
“HAhahahahahaha! I-I’m not a wihihihitch!” Uzi proclaimed as she burrowed her face into the pillows to hide the growing blush
She shrieked and snorted when Doll moved to where her ribs would be.
“Oh! A snorting witch at that!”
“Snort! Hahahaha! Shuhuhut up!”
Uzi hadn’t heard that nickname being used on her for a long time. Only her mom or Auntie Yeva would call her that. They always thought that it was suitable due to her solver powers and because she laughs like a witch, especially when she was tickled. Uzi would always flush at being called that when she was younger. Even now, it still makes her visor blush brightly.
“Hehehahahahaha! Stohohop! Dohoholl please I’m sohohohorry!” Uzi cackled out
After a while, Doll grew tired of tickling Uzi’s midsection, wondering on where to strike next. She looks at the younger’s kicking feet behind her, and smiled now knowing where to strike next. Doll turns her body around before straddling Uzi’s legs quickly.
She had seen her Uncle tickle Uzi while they were play wrestling one time when she was visiting. He had gently put Uzi’s legs in a head lock and scribbled his servos under her legs, causing her to scream Bloody Mary, of course they were both scolded by Aunt Nori for the racket. But if Doll remembered correctly, that area was her knees.
Uzi lifts her head up from the pillows the moment she felt the older worker’s weight on her lower half. Her eyes widen realizing where she was gonna strike next.
Doll grins as she sees the fear and anticipation in Uzi’s eyes.
“Last chance to say it.” Doll chirped as she crept her hands underneath Uzi’s legs
“Okay! Okay! You’re the best Mario Kart player!” Uzi quickly admitted
“Happy now?”
“Mmm…not really” Doll replied
“What?! But I said what you asked! What more do you want from me?!” Uzi exclaimed
“Oh, you know, just to mess with you.” Doll said before scittering her fingers under her knees
“No no no no wait wait-WAIT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Snort!”
Uzi threw her head back laughing and snorting, and laid back down, too weak to get back up from laughing so hard. She wish that she could use her solver powers to defend herself, but the tickles were too much for her to focus. It gotten even worse when Doll started to tease her.
“Tickle tickle tickle! Who’s got ticklish knees? You do!”
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAH! NO TEHEHEHEASING!” Uzi cackled out
She began to hit the bed with her fist to distract herself from the unbearable sensations. But deep down, Uzi liked it, it felt nice to let a good laugh out once and awhile, she wouldn’t tell anyone else outside of her home though, only her dad and Doll.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA! S-STAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA!”
“‘Sta’? I don’t know what you’re saying Uzi, you need to speak up. A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.” Doll scolded while gently squeezing around her cousin’s knee
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Snort! AHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAAHA!”
Uzi had no words to say as she was practically being tickled to death. But she knew that Doll wouldn’t go too far on her. The tickling went on for a while until they heard a knock on the entrance of Uzi’s room. Doll immediately halted, giving Uzi time to regain her strength. They both turn their heads to the source of the sound only to see Khan leaning with his arms crossed on the doorframe, smiling at his two girls getting along.
There was no sound in the room except for Uzi’s labored breaths. Doll’s face was beginning to burn red the longer the silence went on. She was the first to speak.
“How long were you standing there?” Doll asked, clearly embarrassed
“Well, not as long as you think. I just came home when I heard commotion coming from Uzi’s room, so I wanted to check to see if you two were all right.” Khan replied
“I also wanted to tell you girls that I brought takeout! Your favorites! It’s in the kitchen once you’re ready for it!”
The girls perk up at the news, even Uzi (who was fighting for her life a couple of minutes ago) was eager to head to the kitchen.
“Takeout?! Alright, you had your fun get off of me!” Uzi proclaimed as she sat up and began to push Doll off of her.
She somehow manages to get out from under her older cousin and rushes out of the room towards the kitchen.
“Last one there is a frozen skeleton!” Uzi shouted as she ran
“Hey! Wait up!” Doll shouts back
Doll chuckles as she too gets up from the bed and makes chase. She was glad that she had Uzi by her side, because without her, who else would cheer her up the way she does?

Missing Persons - Yandere!Gustavo Fring x fem!reader
requested by: @ourjovialpoetrystudent & @paigerzz
summary: after being kidnapped by Gus, you see some disturbing news on television.
warnings: kidnapping, pregnancy/baby trapping, manipulation
Tumblr media
You woke up with no recollection of what happened to you. Your head throbbed with a pain worse than a headache, worse than dehydration. You were currently on a cushy bed, hands and feet zip-tied, and a bandana shoved in your mouth.
“Ah, you are finally awake. Welcome home.”
“Gus? Where the hell am I and where the hell are Walt and Jesse?” you seethed after he pulled the bandana from your mouth.
“They’re fine. Making more product. You being here ensures their safety. It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” Gus reassured in his ever-stoic tone.
“And how am I winning, exactly?” you inquired, attempting to wiggle your arms out of the zip tie.
“You are living here, with me. In time, I will release you from your bounds. Trust me, things are better this way.”
You sighed, thinking about how you much you missed both your real family and your makeshift family. You, Walter and Jesse were an odd group, but you enjoyed every minute of working with them. You also really, really enjoyed the money. As a formerly broke college student, your old chemistry teacher calling you up for help manufacturing meth with your old burnout high school friend was a blessing in disguise.
You knew the risks of the business, and even though you were raking in stacks, you still attended college and worked your old low-paying job to avoid suspicion. It also meant that you were worked to the bone pretty much every day.
“Will I ever see anyone I love again?” you finally asked, after thinking about how the hell you’d ended up here.
“You will learn to love me,” Gus stated simply, avoiding your gaze and exiting the room.
It had been seven months since you’d been kidnapped and six since Gus had freed you from the zip ties, rope knots and metal cuffs completely.
Soft jazz music drifted from the kitchen to where you sat on the living room couch as Gus cooked dinner. You softly smiled, looking down at your slight baby bump. The nurse who visited weekly (and got paid heftily to look the other way) said you were about ten weeks in.
You grasped around for the television remote, tired of reading as much as you did. Gus still didn’t allow you to use a phone or computer, but you had been given TV privileges after Gus found out you were pregnant.
Some dumb game show was on when the TV came on, so you switched around channels until you hit channel 13. KRQE, the Albuquerque local news.
“Recent developments in the disappearance of UNM student (y/n) (y/l/n) points to foul play. Albuquerque police chief Ray Schultz stated that ‘evidence found at the scene has failed to provide us with any substantial leads, but we will not give up the search for Miss (y/l/n).’ You all remember the story: in February of this year, (y/n) (y/l/n) was reported missing from her dormitory. So far, no suspects have been named and few clues remain. We take you now to a special announcement from Los Pollos Hermanos Owner and Co-Founder, Gustavo Fring—“
Your blood ran cold. The news station had talked to Gus about your disappearance? And they still hadn’t found you? The only legitimate connection between the two of you is when you were awarded the scholarship Gus had founded at your school in his former associate’s name. You listened on.
“—last year, I awarded the Max Arciniega Memorial Scholarship to Miss (y/l/n). She was no doubt one of this city’s brightest young minds, and I am disappointed to hear there have not been any new leads. This is why I am gifting a donation of fifty thousand dollars to the Albuquerque Missing Persons Fund in hopes that more developments can be made in both (y/n)’s case and the cases of hundreds more like her.’”
You quickly snapped the television off, focusing on the sound of your breathing.
“Do you want green beans or carrots with the soup?” Gus asked from the kitchen.
You responded in an almost tearful voice. It was the combination of the news and your hormones, definitely.
“(y/n), is everything okay?” Gus asked, rounding the corner and sitting next to you on the couch.
“NO! Everything is not okay! You donated money to the people trying to find me! Who does that? I miss my family, my real family, and Walt and Jesse,” you cried, causing Gus to wrap his arms around you. You angrily shook him off.
“So me and this baby—“ he began, laying his hand gently on your stomach, “—are not your real family?”
“I-I guess so, but—“
“You guess so? Or do you mean it? Because you know what I am capable of doing to your former co-workers. Your family. Anyone you love,” he stated in his even-toned voice.
Suddenly, you realized you had never been as safe as you thought you were. Gus had lulled you into a false sense of security, even copulated with you to produce your child. You missed everything you had from your old life, and Gus had only tricked you into believing a child could fill that void.

Asteroid Bean 13606
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't find info about this asteroid, so I searched my placement to find a close answe; this lead me to create a theory.
This asteroid was named after the astronaut that discovered it. Due to it's cute name, I decide to investigate about it because an anon asks it. After evaluating my own placement, I believe the definition of this asteroid refers to where or which area grows faster than others. If you don't have harsh aspects, harsh aspects indicates slow process or bumpy process. Why is that? Bean seeds don't take too long to give their last product, mostly around three months. So, your bean placement indicates easy aspects that enter into your life or adjust to your personality for bad or good.
Aries / 1st house: It means that you should leave impulsivity out of this frame because you are already assertive. Learning about your body, dancing, exercising and general moving requires patience comes easier to you, so results are evident. Also, discovering your identity or style.
Taurus / 2nd house: Being patient and taking care of yourself brings fast results. Working steady and smart gives you great results. You take small steps to have a consistent routine. Finances or business relationships also work evenly (Money comes easily). Procrastination and self-deprecation comes easily too, just don't do it.
Gemini/3rd house: Adaptability and communicating skills, plus intelligence. If you struggle with this, don't pressure yourself too much. Take baby steps to polish your skills by committing yourself. Relationship with siblings, being expressing, working with words, writing easy peasy for you bestie. Gossips too, just be careful.
Cancer / 4th house: relationship with your family help or nurturing yourself are easy aspects. Creating a home, and being emotional with others. Honoring your emotions and feelings. A home, a place that you call home, your root and how you view the past, traditions and new traditions. Just be careful with boundaries. Energy vampires are attracted to you, careful.

Your essence, style or presence. You know how to make it happen. Egocentric or arrogant vibes comes easy too....just don't
Tumblr media
Virgo/ 6th house: Take slow your judgement though, but you are good with detail observation; build an honest relationship with others, don't overlook your efforts. Your actions and helpful skills. Health issues or healthy routine may work fast for you, so daily improvement will be present.
Libra / 7th house: Your relationships with other people either romantic or business come easy, but don't jump into a relationship without growing a seed. Baby steps, sweetie. If you do that, you may find hidden enemies in them too. Besides, diplomacy and balance are aspects that you note or learn fast.
Scorpio/8th house: Recalling your hidden power and learning from you shadow self. Exploring your traumas or fears. Studying the inner world like a career (Psychology). Inheritance. Expressing your sexuality or having intimacy. Be careful with debts too, so be careful with contracts. All of this come easy, be aware.
Sagittarius/9th house: learning and experiencing new philosophies or places, you can take notes for your life. Higher education or your may take two careers. You may spend a lot of time in University (teacher? Too) . You can save money easily for vacations or trips. Be careful of distractions or fear of stagnation.

Tonight’s Steve thought: I headcannon that he’s slightly dyslexic. Like, he had trouble reading and stuff when he was younger, and he kinda just accepted the fact that he was ‘dumb’ like everyone told him, so he just stopped trying so hard with grades and pushed himself in sports because that was something he was good at. But now reader can comfort himself and reassure him that he isn’t what people told him he was, and yeah anyway that’s my Steve though hehe
i'm sorry it took so long to get to this, but i absolutely adore this idea!!
i feel like a lot of people kind of either just assume steve didn't care about school at all, kind of lumping him in as someone lazy, or they just make him seem like he's completely incapable, and i much prefer your explanation! i'm a large believer in the fact that most people genuinely aren't "lazy," they just have various reasons (burnout, conditions, etc) that make it harder for them to do things that are "easy" for everyone else, so they just stop wanting to try and care.
i feel like that definitely could have happened to him. being dyslexic at such a young age and not really understanding why reading is so hard for himself, not to mention that i doubt his highly absent family ever bothered to get him a proper diagnosis, so his peers and probably some teachers too think that he doesn't try hard enough or is just dumb. and after a while of getting told that when he's only a child, he simply thinks it's true and has more fun at recess than he ever did in class because he actually likes and is good at it. and it all just develops as he ages; he stops caring about what people say about his intelligence because he gains popularity and no one seems to bring it up anymore, until everything goes down with billy and nancy and suddenly he's at the bottom of the hawkins high food chain and everyone is taking bites out of his ego.
years later, a few months after you somehow have a chance run in with steve at family video, the two of you hit it off and become friends pretty quickly, and while it's true that steve is a little slow when it comes to unfamiliar topics, but he isn't in any form dumb, so when he abruptly asks you, "do you think i'm stupid?" you feel confused until he reveals it all to you.
steve isn't the one to get vulnerable with just anyone, but he trusts you. that's why he asks you in te first place, he trusts that you'll be honest without being intentionally cruel.
and as steve sits there and voices his doubts, doubts about whether he's smart enough to properly babysit the kids or whether he's good enough to even consider himself friends with people like you and robin, the only thing you can think to do is softly take his face into your hands and keep him at eye level.
and you're talking before you can stop, letting it all out because he deserves to hear every single ounce of praise and adoration that you hold for him.
"you are not stupid, steve harrington. something that's completely out of your control like that doesn't deem you any less important or worthy or smart than anyone else. everyone has their areas of expertise, and you have many. you're good with physical things and you know how to manage seven kids at once, which is insane. more than most people could do, by far. you're emotionally intelligent and kind and you are so, so, so worth my time and robin's. we all love you and nothing would be the same without you, everything would fall apart. you hold us all together, steve, and i know some of the kids don't say it as often as they should, but they adore you and look up to you so much. you are not dumb at all, and you never have been. not ever."
if steve breaks down and sobs into your shirt as you hold him closely afterward, so overwhelmed with all the love that you and his found family had given him, never having heard those things from the people who should have been telling him that years ago, then you just hold him against you and soothingly rub his back. after everything he's been through, it's the very least you can do.

How to get past depression and start getting my grades up and be proud of my work when I'm productive
Hey there rein-raus!
So as already established I’m not a mental health professional. There also is a huge difference between a depressive episode (which I as a lot of people have gone through) and chronic depression, because you can’t really “get past” chronic depression.
-> In that case I can however share a overview of recourses, information about financing therapy & resources for queer and black people specifically and international recourses
And I can also give you tips for getting through a depressive episode, getting your grades up and being proud of your work:
Getting through a depressive episode
What is a depressive episode?
try to keep doing activities you used to enjoy
stay connected to friends and family
exercise regularly, even if it’s just a short walk
do something relaxing like Yoga or Meditation
stick to regular eating and sleeping habits as much as possible
avoid or cut down on alcohol and don’t use illicit drugs, which can make depression worse
talk to someone you trust about your feelings
seek help from a healthcare provider
Getting your grades up
The most important thing is to participate in the lesson. It isn’t enough to just be present, you need to actually show your teacher that you’re paying attention. I know it can be hard to say something in class when you’re shy, but it is really important for you’re grade. Keep a list where you write down every time you raise your hand, so that you remember to do it a certain amount of times per lesson. If you really struggle; start of with trying to say something once per lesson to overcome that hesitation
Plan your revision. When exams are coming up, plan out your study time; plan in time to study every day. Make a list of specific task that you can tick off so that you always know what you have to do. But stay realistic e.g. if you come home from school at 4 p.m. you probably don’t have the energy to start working right away
Set Short-Term goals. I already talked about writing down specific tasks and you’re gonna want to break these tasks down into smaller tasks. Not only does this make it much easier to actually do these tasks, it is also helpful to really focus on individual topics
Review your past lessons. This can be helpful to make sure you really understood the lesson and to remember the topics. But some teachers also tend to ask at the beginning of a lesson what happened in the last lesson, so by being able to answer that you already raised your hand once that lesson
Find your study space. Different people can work more or left effectively in different spaces. Some people like to work in their room, others can’t concentrate there - some like to study in the library, because there are other people working, others prefer the buzz of a cafe. Find a space where you can be comfortable and productive
Look after yourself. You need to make sure that you’re okay, before you worry about school. Take time for yourself and don’t push yourself to the point of burnout - because that’s actually less productive.
Being proud of your work
Write down your tasks so that when you finish them you can tick them off and have a visual reminder that you did well
Reward yourself; eat a pice of candy you like, take a nice bath, watch an episode of your favorite show etc.
Say positive affirmations to yourself
Think about why you have trouble being proud of your work in the first place; try to fix the root cause
If you have trouble being proud, because you feel you didn’t do enough, try to change your perspective on things; You maybe only studied for 10pm, but you did study - you maybe only started studying late into the evening, but you did end up studying - maybe you didn’t study at all that day, but you rested and can now do it tomorrow
=> I really hope that was helpful and you’re doing better. I know that you’re trying and that’s the most important thing. You can do this, I believe in you♥️
Thanks for the question!

Anon wrote: Hello mbti-notes, 28F ENFP here. I have written to you a few times, one of them about my relationship with my 27M INTJ boyfriend and the other about my childhood trauma regarding my ENTJ mother and how it was keeping me from pursuing my art career.
I have been on the road of Fi development and lately I have started to develop Te. Some major life events happened since the last time I wrote to you; I had gotten diagnosed with ADHD after suspecting having it for years; then, my younger cousins got diagnosed with level one autism (Formerly known as Aspergers), and after my mother conversed with their mothers, we reached the conclusion I and other members of the family are also autistic and ADHD, since I displayed symptoms of both as a child.
With this new knowledge, I have been making all the changes necessary to accommodate myself and do the best I can and pull my own weight. I am almost finishing University, and my boyfriend (he’s pretty much my husband at this point) started his doctorate and is now an art teacher at our local arts University. (those issues I had written to you prior were resolved and we have been very happy together and supportive of each other since).
I have been slowly tearing down my perfectionistic tendencies; I am no longer unhappy about my work or extremely self-critic to the point I put myself down. I have gained confidence and trust in myself and handling problems, crafting solutions, planning (even if short-term) and improvising. I have been re-enganging my Ne in a healthy manner, focusing on my projects and progress instead of being scattered and wanting to do everything and anything.
Despite that, and all the growth I have done already, I feel that I have an unsurnamable mountain of obstacles to pass through. Over the last year, I have realized just how little my ISTP, probably autistic and bipolar father and ENTJ, probably ADHD mother completely failed to prepare me for life. I was emotionally neglected, made a scapegoat for their problems, made to pick up after myself because of my autism and ADHD being seen as failures of character instead of disabilities.
They saw I was intelligent, and rationalized it as “not needing help”; then, when my problems with executive disfunction and organization started flaring up due to their neglect, they yelled and blamed it on me, worsening the situation. I grew up with no understanding of boundaries; I wasn’t allowed to advocate for myself and everytime I tried I was yelled at; I wasn’t allowed to discover myself and my identity properly so I clinged to my special interests like a moth to a flame; I was shamed for my way of functioning and that impeded me of developing proper knowledge of myself and what I needed.
I now notice my social differences, my trouble dealing with and regulating emotions (and why I put off dealing with them), and my lack of social skills and differentiating levels of relationships. I feel angry that the time I needed to be using to deal with these issues, during adolescence and early adulthood, was taken away by autistic burnout, depression, and dealing with a disfunctional family who had no idea how to care for me and never tried to, and spent pursuing bad relationships, hyperfixations and changing interests, all the while not being able to put effort into what I really wanted because of the shame and judgement they placed on me.
I have been trying my best to pick up the slack, but it’s hard. I can see now how I was unjustly punished for my differences my whole life. I finally understand now why people get upset with me with things like being unable to regulate tone or asking clarifying questions (when I’m just trying to understand them).
I have accepted myself; I know my difficultities now and I know what I have to do to regulate myself, but I still can’t stop feeling angry at this injustice. I do my best to be proactive and helpful in the communities I join and make friends, but people will turn on me the moment I do something impulsive like vent to chat about my parents doing something rude to me that day (which happens regularly). The bridges I put effort into building get destroyed in minutes, and I feel like all my progress is undone.
Family is a tricky issue for people, I get it. There are different times and places to say things, I get it. But It still happens. I know the way to fix it would be to leave, but due to the housing crisis, inflation and my expenses of trying to finish my degree, I can’t move out of this place and still currently live with them. Rent is unnafordable, my boyfriend is going through his degree and busy, and I’m already at capacity fully comitting myself to art and doing the best job I can with chores and house stuff.
I know my parents have issues and I try my best do understand and be empathethic, but they aren't doing anything to get better or to resolve them. My dad is on disability and unemployment aid right now, he does minimal chores and watches TV and sleeps all day. My mother is a pre-school teacher and constantly overworks herself because that's how she learned to get through life.
A few months ago, my mom almost ended her marriage because in her words, she developed a "platonic crush" for another man. It was a huge fight, and one they tried to drag me into. When they're not having outright fights, they act lovey-dovey; but they soon have another nasty fight, and the cycle goes on.
My dad is extremely misoginistic, judgemental, and cynical. Everytime he tries to engage me in conversation, I act uniteresting so he leaves me alone. I am uncapable of building a relationship with them after all they did to me.
I just can’t stop feeling I got dealt a sh*tty hand in life and there is nothing I can do about it. I realize this is Si grip talking, but this enviroment completely kills all my optimist, motivation and will to move foward in life, and I’ve been doing this dance for way too long and just want it to end once and for all so I can keep progressing. I know I’ve already come a long way, but I can’t stop feeling it still isn’t enough, and I’m afraid that feeling won’t ever go away. So I turn to you for guidance on what to do.
Currently I am sitting on a few unfinished projects (a comic and animation) that will be my portfolio só I can start working while I finish my degree. My parents are paying for the remainder of it (honestly, the least they could do after the horrible lifetime they gave me) but I plan to start paying for it myself as soon as I get some work. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I'm doing everything to try and make things better, but I feel like they never will, and I don't know how to deal with that.
----------------------
Whenever people tell me about how they're making progress, even trying to develop lower functions, but also suffering from inferior grip, the alarm bells go off in my head, because it usually indicates some form of troublesome denial. In terms of type development, inferior grip is one of the most serious signs that something is not right psychologically.
I never want to poopoo on people's efforts to improve. I definitely believe that you've been putting forth your best efforts. However, if the outcome is inferior grip, it means there's a problem with your approach or method.
The way that you're stuck in blaming your parents for your misfortunes is not just a sign of Si grip, but also Te loop. If you're suffering from Te loop, it means Fi development hasn't progressed to the point where you are ready for Te development. Being a lower function, trying to develop Te when you're not ready is only going to exacerbate Te loop and eventually lead you into Si grip.
I won't deny that the people around you every day have a big influence over you. As a Feeler, their moods can easily affect yours. When that happens, the best thing to do is to draw up boundaries, to try to shield yourself from those negative influences as much as possible. However, what you've done is the opposite.
You've been drawn into the negative influence through blaming them, fighting back (mentally), judging them for their flaws, indulging pointless "what if" scenarios about your past, etc. In short, you have been swallowed up by the negativity partly because you didn't do enough to protect yourself from it. This is related to Fi development because Fi should inform you about what is needed for self-protection.
Now, since you find yourself in a hopeless place and can't accept the feelings of helplessness, the recourse is Te loop. You wish to actively "correct" everything that you perceive is "wrong". However, this is a futile endeavor. Why? Because those things are not for you to correct. You have overstepped/violated boundaries by wanting to solve problems that aren't your responsibility. This only serves to entangle you in them.
You mom and dad's flaws, your mom and dad's relationship, are none of your business, but you are all up in there. Even if they try to involve you, as an adult, you have the power to refuse. Because you care about them, it's hard for you to refuse, but refuse you must. That's what it means to draw healthy boundaries.
Yes, it's tragic to have been deprived as a child. One thing you realize more and more deeply as you get older (especially if you have children of your own) is that parents are human, their knowledge is limited, and people can only do the best they can based on what they know. Many, many people are ignorant about psychological issues because they have had no opportunity to learn about them. What's worse, sometimes what they have learned is misinformation or outdated information based on what was being taught when they were growing up.
I say this not to excuse the bad things that parents do, but to foster empathy for the fact that people can't do better when they don't know better. You are the same. You didn't think to change your behavior or didn't know how to do it in the right way until you learned about ADHD. You live, you learn.
Empathy for others starts with empathy for oneself. Instead of pitying yourself or being angry about your past, healthy Fi should prompt you to express empathy for your struggles today. There aren't enough signs that you possess this depth of empathy, which indicates Fi development has a long way to go yet. It's hard to feel empathy when you're in the thick of negativity, but that's the time when it's most important to practice it.
An important part of having empathy for yourself, aka self-compassion, is allowing yourself to move at a realistic pace in life, a pace that takes your challenges into fair consideration, rather than always trying to live up to unreasonable ideals. Feeling "not good enough" and being afraid of that feeling never going away is directly related to Fi development and lack of self-acceptance. You must accept the truth of yourself and the facts of your situation before you can move forward in a meaningful way.
Also, if you find yourself speaking inappropriately or not giving enough consideration to social context when your feelings get too big, it means you haven't done enough to set up a good social support system and create more appropriate opportunities to explore your personal issues. Expecting parents or colleagues to give you support that they are not capable of giving is basically wasting energy barking up the wrong tree. In other words, don't look for love in all the wrong places. This is related to Fi development in terms of doing what it takes to care well for your well-being.
You are well into adulthood. At some point, it has to be fully your responsibility to craft the life you want. By continuing to blame your parents for not living up to your ideals, you are the one keeping yourself tied to past unhappiness, rather than moving forward. It is a choice you make.
I always say that forgiveness isn't about other people. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself. It's not good for you to live in a state of resentment, anger, or hate. It's not good to keep revisiting and rehashing such emotions on an endless loop. Therefore, you have to learn to forgive the mistakes of the past so that you can have the emotional stability necessary to focus on improving your life today and into the future.
Forgiving your parents for being the imperfect human beings that they are is difficult but necessary, not for their sake, but for yours. You can set yourself free from the past at any time through learning how to be more accepting, empathetic, and forgiving, which is very much tied to Fi development. This would be a healthy way of lifting yourself out of Si grip and mending your mental health.

Just burnout with Wikipedia or did anything happen?
Just burnout, nothing in particular but there's a general trend. Uh, I edited a lot to do with ancient Greek history and was tired of having to continually convince the same crop of incompetent people (including some admins) what a "reliable" source was. Largely the reason that all of the history articles on wikipedia are so bad is that quite a few people who contribute to them don't understand why you can't uncritically cite primary sources like e.g. Plutarch or Herodotus, and also couldn't tell the difference between a minority opinion held by a single person and scholarly consensus.
Quite frankly I just don't want to play teacher to people who don't know anything and aren't interested in learning anything to begin with.

Dear New Year 12s
As someone going into their- fingers crossed- final year of A levels, I feel like I’m in a good position to play the big sister role and offer some advice and support for any sixth form newbies as I really struggled in those first few months and want to help lighten the load for anyone I can.
Like I said, I really struggled those first few months. I spent the first two weeks of year 12 crying, fighting off anxiety attacks during lessons, and threatening to drop out, but my parents (one of which didn’t go to sixth form, the other one having returned to education after being expelled from college) told me to stick it out. And I did. I grew closer to who is now my best friend- that’s a little rude of me, I’m very lucky to say I have two beautiful best friends I love very much- and our friendship helped give me the confidence I needed to be a much more active part of my school’s community.
So, point one. Try to stick at it.
The first two weeks are going to be difficult, especially if, like me, you’re in a new school with maybe one or two of your old friends (or none at all). But once you’ve done those two weeks, you can make it to half term, and once you make it to half term, why not make it to Christmas, and now that you’ve made it to Christmas, you’re halfway there- why not finish the year?
Sixth form won’t be for everyone, and that’s ok. I’ve had friends drop out or change schools and there’s no shame in it. But for some people, taking it that day, week, month, term at a time will solve (almost) everything.
Just note, there’s no real way to “make new friends”. The best thing you can do is stay open minded and maybe try being an active member of your classes; I made most of my friends through the discussions and debates we had in lesson, then we carried on talking once the bell went! But for those of us who are more shy, my now best friend was the extrovert who picked me out of the soggy ‘free introverts’ box. Sometimes you just have to let these things happen, sometimes you have to throw yourself in at the deep end.
Once I made my first friend- I’ll call them Goblin for this post- I had someone to share this turbulent time with, to sit with at lunch, to hide behind when all this change was changing too quickly. One of the most important things we did together was taking part in the sixth form pantomime. Now I didn’t just have a friend, but a community of people I routinely met with to participate in something I loved and was passionate about.
Being a drama student, I was roped into one or two after school clubs, it did me a world of good and helped me come out of both my dramatic and social shell. It doesn’t have to be stage-ish, but if you’re having trouble meeting people or finding a place to call home, try out a few clubs- You’re much more likely to meet like minded people, plus you’ll be practically engaging with your interests.
As an anxious student, I find it very difficult to cope in classroom environments, let alone new classroom environments. But I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help me when it gets too much:
Sit as close to the exit as possible. In some cases, you might want to sit closer to your teacher so if you need to get out you’re not shouting it from across the room, but I like sitting next to doors as it makes me feel less trapped.
Take it five minuets at a time. You have an hour long lesson? That’s just five minuets twelve times; 30 minuets is 5 minuets six times, and so on.
When are your free periods? Technically you’re meant to use them to get work done, but I spent a lot of mine either at home or decompressing somewhere I felt safe and comfortable (AKA karaoke in the drama studio with Goblin). That essay can be finished in a few hours, but it takes much longer to heal yourself from burnout.
Let your teachers know. The worst thing you can do is suffer in silence and as awkward as you may feel doing it, you have to speak up for your needs. Your education is important and you won’t learn anything if you spend all lesson trying to remember what an inhale feels like.
To elaborate on point 4, this is how you do it. Firstly, email all your teachers- or ask your school’s counselor or head of student welfare to- and tell them how you may need a different kind of support in school and what they can do to help. Instead of wordlessly skipping the lesson, email your teacher or write them a note for a classmate to pass on. Tell them how you feel and ask if they can email you the work covered in lesson or any research or reading that needs doing so you can do it outside of class. If you’re not feeling well during a lesson, because of those handy dandy emails you sent out at the start of the year, just ask your teachers if you can finish your work in a separate room, or tell them you need a timeout. Alevels are SOO different from GCSE, you are a grown up now and your teachers should treat you like one.
If all else fails, ask to go to the loo and come back once the lesson is over/ visit the aforementioned counselor-type professional when you’re meant to be in the loo/ just tell the teacher you need to see the counselor-type person and they should let you go.
This is probably the most important point of all. Speak up and ask for help. This is one of the hardest stages of your academic year, you have to lose every ounce of pride you have and ask every stupid question you need answered, you need to force your teachers and school staff to give you what you need to succeed- politely, of course. Maybe you don’t have any close friends to open up to, maybe you can’t turn to your family or guardians in a time of need, but you're in school now, so you have teachers and a multitude of services at your disposal. I talked about school counsellors/ heads of welfare, they’re a great place to go and I’ve never known of a sixth form or college that doesn’t have at least one. Honestly, I’m the reason my school’s head of student welfare is being paid- or at least I was :p.
You can turn to these staff members for anything and they are literally paid to give you 100% of their available time and effort and trained to know what to do, no matter the circumstance.
As well as this, there are options such as online counselling and websites such as Kooth, and for situations that may be a little more dire, you can always call Childline at 08001111.
It may seem scary at first, but you have to think long term when it comes to seeking help, your future self will thank you for it.
Now onto the lighter stuff.
Organisation. Bloody organisation. Every student has what works best for them and every teacher thinks they know what’s best for their students. I was doing back bends for one teacher in particular and all I got out of it was more bother. You’re going to have teachers that just hate your guts for no reason. She’s mine.
This is my preferred method of organising work:
Notebooks: for taking notes in lesson
Folders: for the mountain of paper that’s going to get dumped onto you
Here’s how I like to organise my folders (remember, this doesn’t work for everyone, but this is what I find easiest):
Purple: the basic outline. Red: a real-life example (my Literature folder)
The Folder
for subject: English Lit
overarching topic
19th Centuary Literature
a section for homeworks
e.g. essays
a section titled ‘general’
where I’d keep wider reading/research, sheets providing info on the topic (not modules), etc
module within the topic
A Play, by Playwrite
module within the topic
Poetry, by Poet
And so on.
Instead for my drama lessons, I organise my work by information rather than topic, for example:
General (dramatic technique, lantern types, etc)
Homeworks
Live theatre analysis
Practitioners
Script work
Set text 1
So on.
For Year 13, I also have seperate folders exclusively for coursework.
For revision, I have three folders for each subject where all my revision resources are stored, which leads me onto my next point.
REVISE EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN UPCOMING EXAM. Once you learn a topic, it will not be returned to. Your teachers will expect you to know the content you have been taught- this is why it’s so important to ask questions and seek out support as soon as you need it.
My top tip: once you’ve finished a topic, make your revision resources immediately and start practising while it's in your head.
In my GCSE years, all I’d do to revise was go over some flash cards, rewrite some notes, saunter away with a scattering of 8s and a pat on the head. Sixth form humbled me, quickly. So here’s how I revise now.
Flashcards. They’re a classic and brilliant for practising active recall. They work for everything; equations to chapter summaries, keywords to historic figures.
You can’t go wrong with a bit of active recall, here’s a YouTube video I found especially helpful on making flashcards: https://youtu.be/6HXJrfddvIE
Origami posters. Don’t worry, it’s not actual origami. This method is much better for reframing notes than recall, but it’s no less important.
Take an A4/3 piece of paper and write everything on a mini topic on one side (e.g. Hamlet, Act 1)
Fold it in half, condense the full page of notes into a spider diagram, or similar
Fold it in half again, now you have a booklet. On the back, write out all the keywords for the mini topic, on the front write the title (e.g. Hamlet Act 1)
Knowledge flowchart. This is another means of organising notes. The best way to explain this one is probably to show you the end product, but I’ll try my best to explain it too.
Take a plain piece of paper and write your topic title at the top.
Draw an arrow from the topic and write down the core of that topic- for example, for ‘Theravada Buddhism’, I’d start with the Three Marks of Existence. Then, elaborate on that, and elaborate again, and (especially if you’re making notes on Buddhism) you will soon find you’ve explained everything by explaining one thing in detail.
Here’s one I made earlier:
Tumblr media
Blurting. Blurting is a great way to see how much you’ve absorbed from your flashcards, posters, etc. Put a timer on, take a blank sheet of paper and write down everything you could possibly remember on your topic of choice. Once the timer is up, use your notes and write down points you missed/ got wrong in a different colour- these are the things you now need to work on more closely.
Here’s a helpful video on blurting: https://youtu.be/CgrCo1J9A44
Some additional revision tips:
Make a timetable
Maybe you have after school clubs, maybe you just need some down time, my top tip for any form of time management is to write down what you’re doing when. For example, I go back to my dad’s on a Monday, so I usually get home a little later, I’m usually a bit tired, so I plan ahead of time so I can take it easy on a Monday- maybe do 30 minutes on one topic and get some homework out of the way. Some Mondays I was tired, so I’d go over one topic of flashcards (something is better than nothing). On Wednesdays however, I had a lot more time after school, so I might do two subjects in an hour, an hour on homework, and finish off the evening going over my lines for an upcoming performance.
Planning ahead of time is great as it limits decision paralysis and therefore procrastination, meaning you can fit in all your leisure activities on top of assignments and revision.
It is important, however, to make sure you’re not overworking yourself, if the information isn’t going in, nothing will come out. Best way to avoid this would be the Pomodoro Technique, which I’ll leave a video link to here: https://youtu.be/mNBmG24djoY
Create a good study environment
No matter what the aesthetic student vloggers may imply with their cinematic shots of perfectly calligraphied notes and lemon water, low lighting such as lamps or candle light (vampire wannabes) will make you feel sleepy and you. will. not. learn.
The best revision environment in my opinion would be:
A clear desk or table (even if you dump everything onto your bed, as long as your work space is clear, so is your head)
A chair you can sit comfortably in
A well lit room of about the right temperature (smother yourself in hoodies if you must, or the opposite)
Water, or similarly boring drink, to hand
Things that meet your sensory needs (music, stim toys, blue tack)
A note on this: I cannot function without background noise, so I listen to lofi music while doing school work, but I only listen to it while doing school work. This means I associate lofi music with productivity, so it puts me in the right mindset. I wouldn’t recommend listening to anything with lyrics however as this may muddle your thoughts.
Here is a link to a playlist of classical music I’m especially fond of: https://youtu.be/idJoHeHPrXA
And some background noise too: https://youtu.be/DLqkt4F0anA
Make sure everything you need is within reach, having to get up and down for stationary and textbooks is going to break your flow (I also recommend going to the loo before revising for this very reason)
To finish off the section, here are some videos I’ve found helpful for revision tips:
ASAPscience study tips https://youtu.be/p60rN9JEapg
Essay writing https://youtu.be/liyFKUFCQno
Making the most of your textbooks https://youtu.be/nqYmmZKY4sA
Active recall techniques https://youtu.be/1b9YRuifyYw
What study style suits you? https://youtu.be/cErgMJSgpv0
As well as textbooks and what you cover in class, there’s loads of helpful online resources too, don’t be afraid to check them out- and don’t be afraid to check your sources either.
Some general tips:
If your teacher gives you feedback, eat it up, absorb it like a sponge.
Do your homework/ assignments/ catch-up work/ whatever as sooon as you possibly can (as soon as it’s set is preferable). You do NOT want work to pile up.
Try to find a routine.
Use Year 12 as an opportunity to find what works best for you, apply it as soon as you figure it out.
If in doubt, jeans and a tshirt/jumper won’t get you dress coded (in most cases).
All this being said, the best thing you can do to maximise your time is to find what works for you, stick with it, and ask for help. You’re going to find this tricky, but that means you’re doing it right. Don’t be afraid of being wrong, in lessons and in life.
Obviously I’m no expert, but I wanted to share my experience, tips, and tricks with you so hopefully you’re given a head start and don’t feel as rubbish as I did in the beginning. Sixth form is now my happy place, and I hope it becomes a sanctuary for you too.
Like I said, I’m no professional, but if any of you need a big sister, I have left my messages open.
I wish you the best in your first year of A levels <3

okay so ive been just eating through all the crimes of passion stuff you've written for nora and so here are some character asks for my fav detective!!
15. What habits does your character have? 30. Is your character hiding something from other people, if so, what? 36. What are things that could make your character enter a full rage/cold mode?
and for skilner!! 7. Is your character good with kids? (is he just good with kinsey or is it a general thing that he tends to track well with kids?)
i know this is a like a lot in one but im just excited! Thank you 🌺
AAHA THANK YOU SO MUCH I AM literally jumping around at the walls right now THANK YOUUUUUUU
15. What habits does your character have?
Nora's habits change like once every fortnight, but here's a list of things she commonly partakes in:
having the worst sleep cycle known to mankind. with medications and anxiety and everything screwing up her brain a little and the side effects of caffeine she chugs, it's a little hard for her to adjust to the normal human being sleep cycle. Part of the reason why she struggled a lot with the 9-to-5 while working for the NYPD and often did night shifts instead. It was a bit of a struggle to get used to Mafalda's schedule but it was instrumental in her not turning into a complete unfriendly barn owl.
constantly needing to fiddle with something, but *only* if it doesn't produce an annoying sound.
really bad procrastination, but only ever happens if she's at home. She hates bringing work back home because she knows she's going to end up surfing through channels on her TV watching the millionth rerun of a cooking show or some trivial pursuit contest with the work on her table screaming for her.
doing everything as fast as possible resulting in burnouts. to put it into perspective, imagine a kid writing a maths test and skipping all the steps to arrive at an answer. The answer may be close or not, but the teacher's going to dock off points for "not showing your process". That's Nora's intense 'addiction' to do things as fast as possible, which results in her fumbling or not enjoying the process.
constantly writing things down. Nora doesn't forget things easily, but she does have trouble 'remembering' them - like she'd know that she has to do something, but struggles with its specifics. She writes a lot of reminders and lists and sticks them on her fridge, even in her bathroom mirror. From getting Silver (their dog) the correct brand of feed to eating dinner to fixing up the leaky taps, she has even the mundane stuff written down.
30. Is your character hiding something from other people, if so, what?
Oh yes. Nora, in the past, helped out a postgrad student from Hong Kong, Aneesa to escape the country after an underground criminal circle (think something similar to the Brotherhood from Ride or Die) ended up pinning Aneesa as a 'fall guy' for their crimes after Aneesa and her friends couldn't owe them their money back (the friends are at fault mostly). It was a covert operation to get Aneesa on a cruise ship to Europe and a flight back home because one, the criminal gang had a vast network and their very lives were in danger. Only a handful of people know about this, including some of Nora's contacts and a trusted friend from the NYPD.
This is a secret Nora would take to her grave. Not something she'd "hide" but she doesn't tell anyone ever after and doesn't plan to in the future, not even Uncle Tommy. This was the real reason she quit the NYPD, besides stumbling into cases of bribery and injustice in her own precinct.
36. What are things that could make your character enter a full rage/cold mode?
Ohhh this is EVERYTHING, okay okay, once again, organizing it into a list:
When someone uses her father to taunt her (something like "tch tch Jimmy won't be proud"). Nora has punched a kid's teeth off in high school because of this. Speaking ill of her parents in any way will have you murdered in cold blood. She'd do that.
Double-crossing her. You simply don't back out from a two-way deal. In her early days of working with Mafalda, she ended up engaging in quid pro quo with a lot of contacts, informants etc before honing the skill on her own. This resulted in a lot of nasty fights. Deal's a deal. Nora's open to negotiation, but leave her out to dry, oh boy, she's coming for your blood.
Taunting her for no apparent reason, just to f with her head. Nora hates mind games.
Telling her "just get over it!" as a response. She's heard that far too many times from useless therapists and if you demean the stuff that's important to her, she's likely going to freeze you out.
And lastly, hurting the people she considers family. Nora will actually vanquish that entire person's bloodline - well, not in terms of homicide, but the effect remains the same.
and for skilner:
7. Is your character good with kids? (is he just good with kinsey or is it a general thing that he tends to track well with kids?)
Skilner is, unfortunately not good with kids, but it's not in the lines of "I don't know how to take care of them" rather trying to connect with them. He was raised in a whole 'nother generation and he kind of struggles to understand kids well. With Kinsey, it's not a problem since he's known her for all his life and he's seen and encouraged her interests.
Skilner works as a janitor for schools and parks, so his job does have him interacting with kids and teens. His first intention is to go all 'overprotective tiger mom' on them, because that's how he helped his sister raise Kinsey. Kind of like that neighbour on the street who'd yell at kids for playing too closely near a crumbly manhole or on the road where people drive their cars, but can easily be misconstrued as a "noisy grandpa yelling at them to keep it down".
It's the same case with Nora. Nora's not a fan of people treating her like a kid, but Skilner's treatment is somehow different enough for her to appreciate it. He likes to simply be kind, but in an aggressive, "what the fuck did you do to yourself, stfu stop getting into fights" way. He raised Kinsey by teaching her important things - stuff that's timeless like honesty, the value of hardwork and respect and that's his approach to everyone else. So to some like Nora, he could come off as this 'old wise moose' character in Disney films but to others, it could come off as someone who isn't well-adjusted to present times.
Skilner's also got this attitude where he thinks everything is temporary, forged by constantly getting in and out of prisons, living a tough life etc. Sometimes he'd talk to people as if he were on his deathbed, just info-dumping a whole bunch of information until his sister reminds him to "knock it off". Because of that, he thinks the people he meet along the way are also temporary, which gives him some trouble having a healthy attitude towards family, friendships and so on. This kind of ends up clashing with especially kids, because he forgets them quite quickly - names, birthdays, etc. It took him 2-3 years to even remember Kinsey's birthday and register that because even though he was actively involved in his niece's life, he still felt like he was in-and-out of the family. Same with Nora. He assumed she was still working for the NYPD long after she'd quit.
While he does mean well, the fumbles in technicalities gives him a less than of a gold star status. He's good with people in general and is constantly trying to improve himself to be a better uncle for Kinsey.
____
Thank you so so much! I had literally the best time typing these down and now I feel the need to write a fic where Skilner's just hammering advice into Nora's head and Nora's just "huh?"

montego dalian armas mariscal.
triggers: gifted kid burnout
headcanons / history:
born to boy chains of fortune member alvaro armas mariscal & a groupie after a one night stand, montego spent his formative years on the road. the band broke up before montego even really could form permanent memories, so he really only remembers denver.
not to say he doesn't have memories of touring, they were just all in the summer when school was out. made those "what did you kids do last summer" questions from teachers real interesting.
even without his mother, montego never felt unloved. he had his dad & that was enough for him.
spent his school years coasting through, never really needing to study. his best subject was always math, the equations making straightforward sense.
every teacher said he'd make a good accountant since he was so quick at math.
when montego hit sophmore year of high school, he started struggling. things weren't coming as easily anymore. he had to get tutoring to pass with a grade he was proud of.
his whole life had been about math. it was the one thing he was super good at & now he was mediocre. the same as everyone else.
this led to him trying to find another thing to excel at. he never really found it. it was like that drive that made him good at things had disappeared.
when it comes to what he wanted as a career, montego has tried it all: all of the arts, hockey & baseball, finance, truck driving, podcasting. nothing has really brought him that spark that makes him want to turn it into a career. the closest he ever got was babysitting, but unless he found someone to nanny for fulltime, it's not exactly a paycheck he could live off of.
which is why he still lives with his dad.
montego found a job as a host at an upscale restaurant not too long of a drive from home. it's not much, but it's a paycheck from a place he doesn't hate being at.
he still doesn't know what career he wants, leading to feelings of being left behind as he looks around & sees so many others his age settling into the rest of their lives.
now that school is over, montego is able to leave all the feelings about needing perfection & never finding it behind. he can chill out now that the pressure of a grade is over.
however, that's kind of led to him being a bit too laid-back. as long as nothing's on fire & no one's injured beyond repair, he's just going to let it happen. very laissez-faire.
there is one exception to his laissez-faire attitude: the twins. he loves his little siblings to death!! he never knew how much he would want to be an older brother until esperanza and bastien were born around two years ago. nothing's going to happen to them while he's around.
if presented w/ an open-ended question, he'll waffle around the answer. but if it's a yes or no, he's more likely to give a straight answer.
once he's committed to doing something, it's getting done. this can be both positive (you'll never have to worry about him forgetting your plans) & a negative (he'll make the decision to try a new hobby & even if he hates it, he'll spend all night finishing the project).
wanted connections:
a maternal figure! not necessarily a woman ( or fem-presenting enby ) who took on a motherly role for him in his childhood, but more so a woman who was around every so often so montego latched on.
acquaintances! people who wouldn't call each other friends, but are on a first name basis.
friends! he's been in denver pretty much his whole life, so anyone who came at any point could be his friend. could be from school, work, hanging around town, the neighborhood, etc.
regulars! those who come into the restaurant often enough that they could recognize each other on sight.
romantic interest! i imagine montego & the romantic interest had been pining for a while & they've finally broken the seal & started dating, but am totally up for other ideas if you'd like to ship.
if you’re hearing QUARTER LIFE CRISIS by TAYLOR BICKETT playing, you have to know MONTEGO ARMAS MARISCAL (CISMALE; HE/HIM) is near by! the TWENTY-FOUR year old RESTAURANT HOST has been in denver for, like, PRETTY MUCH HIS WHOLE LIFE. they’re known to be quite RECKLESS, but being RELIABLE seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble TYLER ALVAREZ. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those WAFFLE HOUSE AT FOUR AM, LAISSEZ-FAIRE, & NOTEBOOKS FULL OF FAILED IDEAS vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around the DOWNTOWN DISTRCIT long enough!

MY EXPERIENCE IN THE ROLEPLAYING COMMUNITY
🍪 my favorite roleplay memory
One time in the Alien vs Predator fandom I spent weeks plotting and talking OOC with someone and then one day out of nowhere we just both realized we were from the same country, live less than an hour away from each other, and were both in English teacher-related career paths. So shout-out to my comrade Ness 🇦🇷
🔥 my hot take about the roleplaying community
This is for all RPCs, people with multiple muses have to realize that one person not being interested in one of your muses =/= that person doesn't want to roleplay with you at all. Like, if I expected you all to care about all of my muses if you wanna write with a single one of them, you'd all die of burnout or I'd logically have nobody to roleplay with. I've seen people accuse someone of USING THEM for a specific character just because that person wants Character A but not Character B, and shows the polite amount of interest when the person brings up Character B but makes no move to interact with that muse. Sometimes people just, DON'T think about a character with theirs in any way, if YOU DO think about that character with the other person's, YOU come up with a plot that might interest them.
Also to everyone else, please please PLEASE have an idea of who you want to interact with when you follow a multimuse- always but especially when they have many muses (like myself). "I love all your characters" will get us nowhere. I can't pick for you.
⭐️ my roleplay pet peeves
I don't have many pet peeves IC other than, self inserts, god modding, and ppl who use roleplay as barely disguised x reader stuff. But OOC, my biggest pet peeve is people who preach about things that they themselves fail to do. A big example of that across roleplay circles is people who preach about communication and then turn around and don't properly communicate. I personally am certain I've failed to communicate multiple times, it happens, that's why I don't preach about it.
