Thinking about how Diavolo’s feelings transcend time and how in the Nightbringer UR+ card Demon Lord’s Castle Tour this conversation happens.

When asked, “Do you wish to see your father?”

Diavolo responds:

“I suppose I do . . .” isn’t the typical reaction to how a child would feel about wanting to see their parent. Especially when said parent has essentially been in a coma for a year.

Along with how Diavolo describe his father.

It makes more sense why when you learn in Lesson 56 how Diavolo was treated by him growing up.

Diavolo can tell when others are lying but is unable to understand his father’s intentions.

Diavolo mentions that he lived a very sheltered life growing up. That from a young age his father never allowed him a chance to talk to anyone outside the castle.

His childhood friend was Mephistopheles. A demon literally RAISED to be his friend. Putting a barrier between the two because Mephistopheles would put Diavolo on a pedestal.

The isolating childhood he experienced riddled with his strict father constantly scolding him.

Despite everything MC is so important to him he wants to see his father again so we can meet.

#Demons and Humans can’t get married even in the present so it adds an extra layer him wanting to introduce us. #There’s a lot more you could add onto this (please do I’d love to hear other’s thoughts). #Like how Diavolo’s childhood affected him just look at the way he describes himself: #“The truth is I am a child in a way. A child who spends his time alone and never gets to do anything interesting.” #A lot of Diavolo’s poor behavior while not excused comes from his childhood. #How Diavolo admits to using his position to force others to do what he wants. It genuinely confuses me that so many people hate some of the characters in ObeyMe.

Every character has multiple redeemable traits and I can’t think of one bad thing a character has done that a couple others haven’t.

Even my least favorite character, Barbatos has many great traits and moments. I can see why so many people like him and although I don’t, I can respect people who do. In case anyone was wondering I just think he’s boring

I think the characters of ObeyMe are really good. I think they’re (for the most part) well written and enjoyable.

So whenever I see a post bashing a character I just scratch my head. Obviously you’re allowed not to like any character but I just don’t get.

it’s like. for a guy who is such an active, gleeful participant in fucking shit up. like, the number one thing he wants to do is be at the forefront of when things get messy. he wants his face plastered on it, he wants to be the one who gets to hurt everyone, he wants to make sure everyone, and especially the doctor, sees him doing it. to then have the drums also there, always there, so loud that they’re all he can think about when he’s dying, that he doesn’t know what he is without them. there’s a powerlessness at the core of it. this thing that was done to him as a child, in secret, that no one ever believed him about, that he doubted being real despite it constantly ringing in his ears. it just won’t go away. it can’t go away. he can conquer earth and the doctor and he can’t make it go away. there is no longer a version of him that doesn’t have this violation woven through every part of his life.

it really is just horrifying.

I’ve never seen anything about it before but imagine if gravity was just slightly different in the Devildom. Maybe it’s a little stronger, maybe it’s a little weaker, something, anything, it’s just a little different somehow. Even just a slight change would probably be enough to disrupt the flow of blood in humans which in turn changes the way the body itself is able to function. I think the only saving grace the MC would have in this scenario is the innate adaptability humans have allowing them a chance to assimilate to the Devildom.

There is angst potential in this but I am almost entirely incapable of finding the motivation to make anything of it so I’m giving it to the world

Not Barbatos having zero communication skills.

You can’t get mad when people don’t know why you’re upset when you’ve never told them. You have to tell people. Solomon is a sorcerer but he isn’t a mind reader!

Solomon even asked him and he pulled the whole “Guess why I’m angry game”. SIR????

That was your chance!! Tell him why!! This whole drama could’ve been avoid if you just…told him why. Just communicate your feelings!AHHHHHHH!!!!

I get it. It isn’t about the list, he’s upset because he feels like someone he appreciates doesn’t appreciate him back. But to immediately go to throwing verbal attacks instead of just asking him about it??

And I know for a fact if it wasn’t Solomon he was hurling insults to people would be calling Barbatos verbally abusive.

And don’t get it twisted, I’m not calling Barbatos abusive but he certainly had a moment. He literally tells him to drop dead, because his feelings are hurt instead of telling why.

I totally get the Barbie stans not accepting this is the genuine reason why he’s upset because it is such an overreaction. It makes him look petty and childish.

The gag was funny but I do think Barbatos needs to apologize to Solomon for being such a douche about it. Solomon is making an effort to apologize and he unintentionally hurt Barbatos’s feelings. Barbatos fully intended to hurt Solomon’s feelings.
