I love that no matter how many fucking times alison gestures to exactly where the ghosts are mike will still look up in the air for them. the fact that he makes an attempt to interact directly with them instead of just always looking to alison is so charming. but also adhd king.

wrestling fic writers!!
i have decided to be the change i wanna see, so lets do a nice little thing for each other, as a community full of incredible and talented writers. yes this is writer specific only, but thats cause thats where the main problem of people not interacting with creative works lies in this fandom as far as i can tell and have seen people talking about it especially in the last couple of months
if you read this, please add links to your written works. it can be just a single fic youre really proud of, your writing blog, your writing tag, your ao3 account, anything where your works can be found
and if you leave your link here, PLEASE check out someone else that has left their works, and interact with them. leave them a comment, even just a kudos, REBLOG their fic, etc. interacting is the keyword i want to emphasize here, along with building a sort of a masterpost of where to find people writing in this fandom
and if you are not a writer, youre still highly encouraged to interact with this post and share it and show love to the writers in this fandom, obviously!! i think that should go without saying, but adding it in anyways
a bit more about my vision and resources and such under the read more, but thats the gist of it. happy linking and please be kind and supportive to each other!! 💜
nobody is too big or too small to add their things on this list. if you write and post anything in this fandom whatsoever, be it fics or drabbles or headcanons, any companies or any kind of ships or reader inserts or any content whatsoever no matter how 'dead dove dont eat' or hell even if its just meta, we welcome all here and nobody can say that one thing is less valid than another. just please tag your content accordingly, especially if theres content warnings, and feel free to mention what you write, who you write, any info you wish to leave that would help people before they click on your links. but even so, that should not and hopefully will not deter people from interacting, no matter what it is. someones trash is another ones treasure, i promise you
and unless the amount gets really overwhelming, im personally going to be checking out everyone that leaves something here. unless it squeaks me out, but even then, i'll spread the word. and i just wish as many people as possible will do the same, and not just use this as a potential board to only get eyes on their stuff. ofc thats also the point, but you should give as much, if not more, than you get. we need to be kind and supportive of one another (besides, from personal experience, if you show love to someone else, they are more likely to do it back than without you taking the first step, so... pay it forward)
as for resources, heres a few links that should be helpful in leaving comments and feedback. of course everyone does their own thing and no comment is too big or too small to leave, but for those who need them. if you have anything you'd like added to this list, dont hesitate to get in touch or drop it in the post yourself!!

dont know how to comment? easy solutions
a quick hot guide to commenting (by yours truly)
an overall guide to appreciating fanfic writers
and just in general.. leave people comments. leave them asks about their projects. just go over and gush about their work. i know it sounds embarrassing but writers love nothing more than to hear that someone likes what they are doing. if you find a fic that hasnt been updated in forever, comment on it. it might just be the spark the author needs to continue. while kudos and likes are nice, and just as valuable to some, its definitely in the words the people leave for them that matter the most. im not saying this to put pressure on anyone, its just how it is, and i feel like unless people are writers themselves, and even then sometimes, thats just hard to grasp, especially if the writer is a smaller and less popular one who doesnt get a lot of traffic in the first place
i think thats all. just be nice and considered to everyone, reblog peoples works, this post with others add ons and so forth. and if i find anyone talking shit here or at other writers for something they share, you'll be blocked and im probably taking your kneecaps. be fucking nice. we are all struggling here and we need to stick together
happy sharing and commenting 💜💜

It's been pretty interesting watching Spock and McCoy so far during this rewatch. I'm on The Naked Time now, so it's been around five episodes (McCoy's not in the Gary episode, so no point in counting it). Thus far, they've usually interacted at least one per episode, but those scenes are fairly short. They're usually shown interacting with Kirk moreso than anyone else. So when it comes to analyzing their relationship and development, there isn't a lot to comb through compared to later on. But that doesn't mean that there isn't anything at all.
So far they aren't really arguing much. McCoy's made a few jokes about Spock's differing physiology, but not in a malicious or racist way that I think some like to make it out as. You can see the humor he has in his demeanor whenever he does. Heck, he genuinely said he'd love to teach Spock poker without any hint of sarcasm or grumpiness. If anything, we have Spock emphasizing how he's delighted that he differs from humans, both physiologically and mentally. He's just as capable of dishing it out as he is able to take it. I mean, watch him in Mudd's Women and how annoyed/amused he is with the men's gaping and him outright saying at the end that the whole ordeal was 'a 'most annoying emotional episode'. I mean, he's not wrong, but still... anyway! You get a feel of how things are going to develop with them, but we're in that early development stage, so things are still being figured out. They don't really like nor dislike each other yet... but probably find each other annoying to deal with XD
The only episode so far where the two have had a serious argument is The Enemy Within, and I think it's pretty interesting when you look at it. They have two major scenes. The first time is when they've caught Bad Kirk and Spock breaks down how without it, the Good Kirk is losing his ability to command. He says it in such a blunt, almost tactless way that comes across as him talking about a science experiment than Kirk's current ordeal. Which he himself points out, so he's not blind to it not to mention that it's his job to point these things out to the captain as his first officer and Kirk outright told him to speak up if he saw him slip. But it can still come across as Spock being an insensitive asshole questioning his commanding officer and exacerbating his current struggle, and that's clearly how McCoy took it. He gets mad because Spock is talking like Kirk is some kind of subject to be analyzed and questioning his command at the same time. You do NOT do that around Leonard McCoy. That being said, after a bit and when Kirk talk to him about how he's struggling, McCoy admits that Spock was right, but actually eases and comforts Kirk and lets him process his fears and self-doubt. This is why he's the one who handles these kinds of situations regarding Kirk, not Spock. That's going to be important for episodes such as Consciousness of the King and Obsession, so we'll put a pin in that.
The other argument is over whether to allow Kirk to go through the transporter or not after seeing that the merge could kill him. Spock says yes, reasoning that it had to be shock and that Kirk, having the intelligence to control the fear, will be fine and in any case the landing party can't hold out much longer. While Spock isn't wrong, they haven't done an autopsy yet and thus can't pinpoint a cause of death. Thus, he is asking for Kirk to risk his life essentially because he said so and is therefore right. McCoy gets pissed off about this. It's only a theory and if it's wrong, what then? Kirk dies, and the landing party can't be beamed up, meaning they're dead anyway. Now of course a large part of it is McCoy unwilling to risk his best friend's life, even if that means the life of Sulu and several other officers, which is pretty damn cruel when you think about it. Mind you, IDT he's thought about that either, but inadvertently or not he's favoring Kirk's life over the crewmens, and that goes against Spock's job as first officer.
The whole thing is fueled by who Spock and McCoy are as people and their respective duties. McCoy sees Spock expositng and theorizing regarding the captain in a way that makes him come off like a real prick. Spock sees McCoy being overly emotional and having needless doubts in a cut and dry scenario, and the longer he goes on, the longer other lives are at stake. Neither one are necessarily wrong, either. They're both perfectly valid view-points, but they're both too stubborn to concede, and this is why we need Kirk around to be the wrangler.
In short, they're stubborn idiots who suck at communicating, and it ain't gonna get much better.
That's as far as they go in terms of notable interactions, but there are some other little moments worth looking at. One moment is also earlier in The Enemy Within where the interaction was off-screen, but it's still worth mentioning. After encountering the Bad Kirk and getting startled by his aggression, McCoy is understandably concerned. Maybe he thinks that he did something to upset the captain. Maybe there's something else going on that he’s not sure about but weary of further potentially angering Kirk. Who does he turn to? Spock. He asks him to go check on Kirk and while he likely thinks that McCoy is making a big deal out of nothing (furthered by him encountering the Good Kirk who legit didn't do anything) he does still go and do just that. Whatever they might feel towards one another, Spock and McCoy do take things regarding Jim very seriously. McCoy trusts Spock enough to reach out to him about his concerns and that Spock will look into it. Which again we'll stick a pin in for now.
It also should be noted how in The Man Trap, Spock realizes that the McCoy that they're with in the conference room isn't the real McCoy. Sure the fake McCoy's demeanor is more withdrawn, but with everything with Nancy it would be expected, which is likely why Kirk didn't pick up on it (well that and him in hardcore Captain Mode, but still). Otherwise, there's nothing screaming 'this isn't McCoy'. Spock though? He picks up on it. IDK how long they would have known each other at this point, but he knows how lively McCoy normally is. A man who is driven by emotion and never afraid to say what he thinks no matter who it was, whether you want to hear it or not. However he felt, he'd be putting some kind of fire into his words. It doesn't even react when Spock points out his 'reckless reasoning' where otherwise McCoy would have at least had some kind of remark to make back. Spock knows this. He is not used to that. Any of it. This isn't the same man that argued back at him when he was unwilling to risk Kirk's life on a 'theory' just a short time ago. He already knew the doctor enough to be certain of that. It got him a gash on the head for his troubles, but still.
So in this early point of the series, there may not be too much Spock/McCoy stuff going on, but what is there says a lot. Things are very much developing between them, but thus far they may have the occasional serious debate, but otherwise they treat each other civilly. If anything, it kind of feels like McCoy is trying to reach out to Spock and be on friendly terms with him. Being a snarky shit is the default way he goes about it clearly. Spock will very much emphasize how he's glad to differ so much from humans, but there's no trace of malice or anything behind it either. It's still early, they don't quite get each other yet and are prone to misgivings. I think the more that they do start to interact, the more they become willing to speak up either for or against each other and have more of the banter we're used to. Which also means that they'll become more comfortable around each other and have a genuine friendship and romantic feelings grow. We're in the 'getting to know each other' phase of the relationship, essentially. They're testing the waters, and it won't be much longer before they get rocked.
I also standby my belief that Spock has bubbling feelings for McCoy already and was totally jealous in Mudd's Women when he sees him gaping at the Mudd women. Not to mention the way he's listening to Kirk and McCoy talk about the women's attraction, when you'd think he'd dismiss it and focus on his work. He already has it bad and doesn't know it and has no idea why he keeps looking at this illogical, irksome, overly-emotional human.

i'm cry laughing some people on twitter are now saying "izzy bashing" needs to be tagged in fics. how did these people ever survive watching this show where izzy is the CANON ANTAGONIST i'll never know
benefit of the doubt but i think most of them have gotten to this point gradually. when they first watched the show they were not attached to izzy the way they are now. i know for a lot of people it was blorbo at first sight with izzy but i've also seen izzy enjoyers say they didn't like him at first, and then fandom made them care about him.
like i'm pretty sure for a lot of ppl it started off with isolating themselves from ppl who made posts that they didnt like, like ppl who criticized ofmd for being based on two real people with direct connections to actual real-world slave trade (which is an incredibly valid thing to criticize abt ofmd).
another one that i think funneled a lot of fans towards being so delusionally attached to izzy was people pointing out or complaining about the disproportionate amount of fan content for izzy compared to prominent characters of color—which is a consistent issue in fandom no matter what the media, and is also a very easy one for people to be uncomfortable with whenever they see it get pointed out. people venting that "fans care too much abt this white man" often make fans who care abt that white man very defensive right off the bat, and then rather than engage with why they feel defensive or question if maybe their enjoyment of this character is fueled by implicit bias (which it might not be, to be clear! im not saying—and i have never said—that everyone who enjoyes izzy likes him for racist reasons), they stop listening to the conversation abt white favoritism and continue blorboposting as much as they want. it's incredibly easy for fans to brush off this convo as "just starting drama" and avoid the topic altogether because "fandom is for fun!" and they dont want to think abt difficult topics like racism and implicit bias, they just want to enjoy their blorbos in peace.
so they kept narrowing the takes they were seeing until they were in an echo chamber that kept moving more and more towards complete woobification of izzy hands. these people are now looking at the show entirely through izzy's pov, making posts abt how sad it is that none of the other characters are ever nice to him, how frustrating the show is from his perspective, how it feels to be deeply in love with someone who doesn't love you back. they've stared at gifs of con's micro-expressions and read angsty fanfiction and looked at endless izzy fanart and their entire ofmd fandom experience revolves around empathizing with this one character even tho the show itself continually makes him the butt of the joke.
at this point, telling these people to rewatch the show doesn't even matter. they've spent so much time over-analyzing every single one of izzy's scenes to the point where the emotional responses they get from these scenes are not the emotional responses anyone would have watching the show for the first time. they've warped the entire first season to fit their version of the show and are forgetting how often the show itself bashes izzy.
and the icing on the cake is the trolling. there's like, one or two people on here who go around sending anon hate and leaving nasty comments on instagram posts and harassing people on twitter for... like, i would say "for liking izzy" or even "for saying positive things about izzy" but like. i've gotten these messages, and the most sympathetic i've ever been to izzy was the post i made like "maybe he's mean bc he has chronic IBS. i'd actually understand him more if that were the case." so when i get these messages it's easier for me to just laugh them off bc it's so obviously just someone trying to make me upset, but people who do care about izzy (a lot of them being the same people who avoided engaging with the "why does fandom care so much abt white characters" convo) get these absolutely horrible messages about how they deserve to get hate crimed and they should kill themselves. and these fans who didn't want to even see vaguely negative posts abt izzy bc they just want to enjoy fandom in peace are now like "im targeted for just liking a character!"
so that's how we get to people saying that "izzy bashing" needs to be tagged. never mind that their definition of "bashing" almost certainly includes things that are not bashing but are just things that contradict the way they headcannnon him.

i'm tired of looking at this drawing so i'm posting it now!!!
surprise! had another weird dream again!! and just like last time rob was there with a different design.
i saw him in a blue supermarket this time. he was incredibly alarmed at the fact that i was happy to see him and wanted to talk to him. he just kept saying that he wasn't the person i was thinking of and insisting that i must have mistaken him for someone else (which, to be fair looking at him now, he was probably right)
that conversation then led into a whole musical number about how he wasn't really that special or important. what was weird is that 1) he wasn't doing any of the singing, it was other characters singing about him and him occasionally chiming in to confirm what they were saying and 2) he was sort of just. passively resigned during the whole thing? he wasnt mad that they thought of him like this, it was very weird.

MAJOR SPLATOON SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!! <this is mostly a caution for my friend whos going thru splatoon rn lolz hi Bee if ur reading this
screenshotting this post w/out the url and im turning rbs off cuz i dont wanna start beef, but like. i have never seen a more stupid fucking opinion of rotm. are you fucking kidding me.
first of all, the conflict between inklings and octarians was one-sided in modern times. it was simply a suffering civilization trying to take revenge on on whom they believed to be their enemies, not even knowing that the war they had fought is long dead and the inklings that inhabit the surface would welcome them with open arms. because, let me get one thing very clear: all of the weird racism metaphors in octo expansion are literally just a result of poor translation with the original being nowhere NEAR as overt in how they portray octolings as a sort of "stand-in" for the struggles that poc face irl. obviously, theres some tension between the two species, but there was never a story thread about this conflict. ya feel?
(^THIS SECTION IS WORDED WEIRDLY AND ISNT ENTIRELY REFLECTIVE OF MY OPINIONS ABOUT THIS PORTION OF THE GAME CUZ IM SLEEPY!!!!)
second of all, are we forgetting the part where the splatlands WERE effected by the Flood? it literally flooded the entire land!!! but instead of this dividing the people who inhabited it, they came together and drained it. drained it into Alterna. which is WHY we see these different tribes lasting in modern day with Deep Cut, why we see inklings and octolings living side-by-side with zero tension, and yet recognition and celebration of each others differences. is that not beautifully poetic?
we even see the fact that octarians have integrated back on the surface with the technology being used, particularly the use of floating machines! theres even octarian language on the splatana stamper! all of this life that was breathed into the game is all around you and it takes so little effort to just look!
i just wanna make one thing clear: so far, ALL of splatoons hero modes have been caused by humanity, be it directly or indirectly. in splatoon 1 and 2, we see the long-term effects of octarians living underground for 100 years rear its head and lash out, trying to survive. conditions underground are harsh. why are they underground in the first place? they lost the great turf war. a fight for land due to the rising sea levels. which was LITERALLY CAUSED by a nation 12000 years ago dropping a bomb on Antarctica as an intimidation tactic, as well as general global warming reaching a tipping point after wwV.
octo expansion? a broken machine left behind by humanity goes insane in its loneliness and tries to perfect the new intelligent life after sitting and watching for so long. splatoon 3? the last mammal, in its grief, tries to regain what he has lost.
the entire franchise is about letting go of the past, living in the moment, and looking forward to the future. half the songs naming conventions are based around momentum. its now or never.
how can you not see how this game has built its world so beautifully? it just makes me sad to think about
people are entitled to their own opinions, and its fine if you didnt like splatoon 3's story. but why are you, in a game franchise that ends with the line "the times have changed. the world can never be as it was. moving forward... is the future" so stuck in what could have been?
