“have you come for me, andrey? i had hoped it would be you.” “forgive her for me. i seem to have given her all i’ll ever give.” “funny, i seem to have misplaced my watch again.” “wouldn’t it be grand, katenka? to be strangers again?” “how about it then? one last smoke with an old friend?”

penny and mav’s talk at penny’s house literally always makes me insane.
penny talking about learning to trust amelia (as a parent) which automatically segways into “is that what happened with rooster?”
and then everything mav says where the audience is finally tuned into why the animosity is going on and everything makes sense. why mav is still sort of reaching out while rooster is just mad and argumentative.
also the fact that this conversation happens right after his chat with ice about needing to let go, mav says “he might never come home” and that doesn’t just mean come back from the mission alive but come back to mav: to his dad.

snake pretends to be a bad guy in order to be a good guy even if he’s aware his friends might hate him for it, his friends go back for him and tell him they miss him and want him back even if they still are not aware of his true intentions. snake was not expecting them to come back, his friends forgive him immediately. um…… friendship *explodes*

wait it just occurred to me that goncharov probably never found out that katya killed ice pick joe to protect him. he died without knowing anything about that night in the boat oh my god. and andrey definitely just assumed that he knew in the chapel, that adds another layer to everything he says about katya. oh my god.

Watching Star Trek IV
Whale biologist: why do you hang around with that weird guy who calls you admiral and why are you so close?
Kirk: *hesitates*
Whale biologist, who lives in San Francisco in the 80s and is rapidly drawing many correct conclusions: that’s okay we don’t have to talk about it.

the thing that utterly pisses me off about The Purge films (especially Anarchy) is that the characters are constantly being either IMMENSELY slow, asking the dumbest questions when being told to run, and also just overall being the worst at survival. Barnes is the only character that doesn’t make me want to ram my head into a wall. Maybe i’m tossing a little too harsh of judgement but oh well.

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.
