Peter Rabbit is communism
Honestly, I don't think any of y'all are ready for what I'm about to say, but Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is actually Marxist/communist propaganda. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I am completely 100% serious with this. So, I made a longish essay analyzing the plot of this movie. There are spoilers, obviously, but you aren't missing out on a lot by not watching this insane woke dumpster fire of a film.
A much better name for this movie would probably be Revolutionary Rabbit ☭ .
Part I: introduction and context
Just so we're all on the same page, Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is a 2018 film directed by Will Gluck. It is partially live-action and CGI. Many of the movie's characters are taken from Helen Beatrix Potter's 23 stories, including the titular protagonist Peter Rabbit, but also Benjamin Bunny, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail Rabbit, and many more. The movie also includes Beatrix herself as a main character, alongside an entirely original one, Thomas McGregor. The movie was first released by Colombia Pictures in the US.
Will Gluck, a movie director, and known communist, socialist, and wokist.
The first piece of evidence of this movie being communist lies in the fact that the director of this movie, Will Gluck, is also one of the executive producers of the leftist show Woke. That's right. The very DIRECTOR OF THIS MOVIE is a communist involved in the production of woke propaganda. But believe me, there's so much more.
Part II: beginning of the plot
So, the first 15 minutes of this movie is set in the Lakes district of England, where Peter Rabbit, his three sisters Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, and his friend Benjamin Bunny, all live. The five rabbits often raid Mr. McGregor's garden and steal his vegetables. One day, however, Peter accidentally sets off a trap McGregor had prepared, causing McGregor to chase Peter away in an attempt to catch him. Luckly, Beatrix, a lovely artist who cares for the animals, catches Peter in her arms before McGregor could. It is later revealed that McGregor ate Peter's father, and that Bea has cared for the rabbits ever since their mom died. However, Peter goes back into the garden to take back his jacket which he lost and gets caught by McGregor, who then immediately dies from a heart attack caused by his unhealthy, American-centric diet. A ecstatic Peter then invites all the animals to McGregor's home.
A photo of Beatrix (foreground left), the five rabbits (background left), and Mr. McGregor (center) and his garden (right).
Already, these first 15 minutes infuriate me. Peter Rabbit actually believes that he has a right to raid Mr. McGregor's garden, or in other words, his property, and a right to take and eat his vegetables, or in other words, his property. Other than this being completely immoral, trespassing on someone else's property and stealing their stuff is criminalized by countless laws in the United States and would quite possibly land him in death row. The only reason he has not been caught by the law is simply because he lives in the UK.
Keep in mind that this movie is made for children. Why does a movie made for children include a scene where a person literally kills and eats a rabbit? Is this movie for children or not? I guess it's just woke Hollywood nonsense again, not known for being logical or consistent.
Not to mention about all the anti-American racism present here? Mr. McGregor literally just eats an all-American diet, and then the movie claims that diet is what killed him. That's fucking ridiculous and so, SO racist. If that's not anti-American and racist, then I don't know what is. I really don't. And once again, this anti-American racism is indicative of a communist, wokeist ideology. Just think about it! You have to be pro- something, and if you're anti-America, then what else could you possibly be for, other than China? And - big shocker - but China is literally communist.
Part III: Thomas McGregor
At about the 15 minute mark of this movie, Thomas mcGregor (aka mr. mcGregor) is finally introduced. he is a perfectionist, a workaholic, and a controling man, working for the toy department of Harrods in London for ten years, waiting for a promotion. He sees the general manager, expecting his promotion, but is instead told that his Great-Uncle has died. Unfazed by such trivial information, he pressures the maneger to reveal to him whether or not he got a premotion. but sadly for him, the promotion went to a lazy and idiotic nephew of the managing director. This infuriates Thomas, causing him to fucking lose it and mess up the store. and because of that he gets fired.
A photo of Thomas McGregor (centre, right in front of the toilet), immediately before he goes to talk with his manager.
This momant provides perfect evidence that this movie is communist: the movie shows that even the perfect worker, a man who does absolutely everything perfectly and has done everything perfectly for years, that his work will not let him to clime the socio-economic ladder. His talents, his hard work, all of his merits, none of them will ever pay off. Yet, a lazy and stupid man is given a high-ranking position simply because he is related to another guy already in a powerful posision. This moment is, clearly, a jab at the idea of a meritocracy. Its an woke attack on our American system and I will not stand for it. Remember, that Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is (at the very least, supposedly) a childrens movie, and at just fifteen minutes communism is being shoved down children's throats! Ridiculous!
Part IV: conflict
After Thomas is firred, he then realizes that he had inherited the valueble mcgregor manor and that he could sell it to create his own toystore. When he arives he is shoked to find all the animalds and so he kicks them out. and cleans up the house and fixxes the fence. Bea speaks with Thomas, encourages him to let the wildlife freely enter the gardan, and givies him a pair of binoculars. Dispite Beas efforts Thomas keeps the gstes closed and ups the security. Petre and Benjiman sneak back into the garden, and are chased down by Thomas. while Peter escapes, Benjamin is caught by Thomas ahd taken by Tomas to be thrown of a bridge, but he is rescued by the other rabbits and Thomas accidentily drops the binoculars instead. Thomas than goes and buys an ellectroc fence and dynamite. Bea and Thomas met again, and fall in lovve with eachother, much to Peters dismay and jealosy. Peter and Thomus start anotger war between themselves, resulting in one of Bea's paiinting getting ruinned and Peter getting kicked out of Bea's home.
Peter Rabbit and Thomas McGregor going absolutely batshit insane on each other.
this part of the Peter Rabbit (the Movie) is prehaps the best part. I cant find any communism or sociallism here. Fore example Thomas literally shoos away all the trespassing animals who violate his propertie rights. He puts so much effort into cleanign his house, and it all pays of: a clear demonstratuon that hard work will always be worthwhile. Still, there are many propblems with this part of the movie. For example, why is there a man doing all this cleaning? I knoe that hes doing a lot of work, but why would he threaten his oun masculinity like that? And, if you pay attention, the narriator litterally says this: "romance is a powerful thing. It can sneak up on any two people. Even if one's amazing, and the other is a McGregor". I'm sorry, but that implies that literally any twlo people can fall in love, even if they're both men, or both women. And this is supposed to be a kids movie? if so than why are you promoting liberal gender ideology nonsence in this movie? I guess this just coms down to Holly wood always having to promote an ideology. If it's not marxist socialist communism, than it must be liberal gender ideology. Of course.
Part V: shit goes crazy
This is the piont of the Peter Rabbit (the Movie) where every thimg devolves into all out war. Petre and his famly decid to put boobytrapps in side Thomes 's home in aqn attemt to get rid of him, caosing Thamas many pain and frustetion. So thomas upgrafes his securite again, electrifoiing his femce. in response, Perte rewires the electic fence so wheng thomAs touches a toorhandle he receves a shock, prevocing Thomas to throw dynamite in the rabbits burrow. the rabbbits attack back by triggreing Thomass 's blackberry allergy. Thamos retalliates by lighting and throwing dynamte at the babbits. Bea notices the sounds and approches Thpmas asking him abuot the commotion. He assures Bea everytihng is alreight but Peter detonates the rest ofthe explosifes destroing the Beaas artstudio and the rabits burroew. Bea is uotraged with thomas and dismisis his explanation that the rabits were involved and splits up with him.
An explosive, trying to tear apart a heterosexual relationship.
the conflict thaet erupts betwen Thomas and Peter symbloises the violence that marxxists and comunists want, in oorder to achieve there terrible goals for sociietie. they want to terrorise, pillege, and destroy their way to create thier own litle utopia, to destrioy traditional, patriotic, AMERICAN values, like heterosexuality. as you can see, the btreaking up of a heterosexual relationship is exactly wat marxiists want, and its exactly ehat happens in this scene.
Part VI: Bee and Thomus departt and join up agein

Favorite Movie Ramble :The Legend of Hell House
Today we shall take a look at my favorite haunted house flick The Legend of Hellhouse
This 1973 film follows a team investigating the haunted house known as Hell House on behalf of an eccentric millionaire Rudolf Deutsch (Roland Culver).Lead by skeptical physicist Dr Barret (Clive Revill ),the team concists of Barrets wife Ann (Gayle Hunnicutt),the young mental medium Florence Tanner (PAmela Franklin ) ,and physical medium Benjamin Fischer (Roddy McDowall ) the only survivor of a previous investigation
So fair warning this film despite being PG .....is INTENSE ,with se*ual assualt and some bloody scenes
This film is a mixture of classic gothic horror and the more intense contemporary horror that was appearing in the late 60's and early 70's .It is a grounded telling of the classic haunted house story ,its almost a procedural
I really like the way the haunting is depicted.....In that you dont see the ghosts ,you FEEL the ghost presence .The spirits are malovelnt ,destructive and deadly . Part of this is due to the film having one of the greatest horror movie villains that we dont actually meet :The Roaring Giant AKA Emeric Belsco played (Kind of ) by Michael Gough .He is the guy who made the house and his depravity is why it is haunted .The way he is described just paints the picture of a total monster and once you learn more about him he is fascinating to me .The house just has a aura of evil and malice that gives the film a feeling of doom
The thing that makes the film work is the cast ,this is a great ensamble :Gayle Hunnicutt's Ann is kind of the tag along character ,the outsider to the world of the paranormal ,who while she and her husband clearly love each other ,she has a bit of sexual frustaration .Her husband Dr Lionel Barrett is played by the great character actor Clive Revill ,who shines as the man of science. He believes in the hauntings are not literal ghosts but actually energy and is a bit stubborn ,and often comes in conflicet with Florence. Florence is the youngest member of team ,highly religious but also a bit niave ,who believes there are multiple ghosts .Florence being the representative of the spiritual often clashes with the scientifically minded Lionel .PAmela Franklin delivers one hell of a performance ,with a lot of layers to it
However the best part of the movie is Roddy Mcdowell as Fischer .Fischer is actually a very quiet character.....But only cause he is the only one who knows how dangeous the house is .McDowell plays Fischer as a victim of trauma ,who is very reluctant to revisit this place that has haunted him for 20 years .The scene where he opens up about his pain is one of McDowells finest moments as an actor ,as is the films climax and I truly believe this is one of his best performances ever
Honestly I think this film is underrated and is a must see for horror fans

Minimal Loss - Maximal Stress
(A/N): This was requested by an anon and plays in the intern universe. It’s based on 4x3 “Mininal Loss”. I didn’t follow the exact plot, but the quint essence is there (you’ll see what I mean). I hope you enjoy it.
Summary: An intern goes along on a seemingly undangerous case with Emily and Spencer on a ranch under the lead of Benjamin Cyrus. What could go possibly wrong (well, everything ig)?
Warnings: Mentions of child abuse, guns, vomit, swear words, ususal Criminal Mind stuff
Wordcount: 2.9k

________________________________
“Do you guys really think it’s a good idea to bring a child to an interview about child abuse?” Agent Lunde asks skeptically while steering the car towards the ranch, where the allegions originated from.
“(Y/N) is our intern and we thought she has to make some experience in the field and since this is the most peaceful case you can find within the BAU, it’s her opportunity”, Emily defends the team’s decision.
“Also, she is nearly the same age as the girls, so it’s easier for them to open up to her and she is incredibly bright, meaning she can help us deducing a profile”, Spencer adds. The teenager doesn’t acknowledge anything they say, too engrossed in listening to One Direction over her bluetooth earbuds.
Soon the quartet arrives at the Saptarian ranch. “I’m looking for Benjamin Cyrus.” “You found him”, answers the man, who sits in front of a chapel.
“He really is nicely placed. I feel like I looked like this in my math classes. I was like beautiful decoration, but had no use”, (Y/N) whispers to Emily. She in turn has a look of confusion on her face. “You aced math, you graduated with an A+ in it.” “Just because I have good grades doesn’t mean I’m not stupid. I mean, I’m educated, but stoopid.”
A little later she sits across from a blonde girl named Jessica, asking her questions about the 911 call. Her mother continuously steps into that conversation.
“Jessica, can you tell me, if anyone here were ever touched inappropriately?” “Is this really necessary? You are a child yourself, shouldn’t ask one of the other agents the questions?” Slowly the teenager’s patience is wearing down and Spencer can definitely see that from five meters away.
“Ma’am, with all due respect, but I’m perfectly capable of conducting this interview, if you stop interrupting me. I may be young, which doesn’t stand in my way of being an intern for CPS and still knowing my way around, so please step to me colleagues or something and let me do my job.” Hesitantly the mother gives the two girls their space.
As soon as she is out of earshot, Jessica begins to explain. “Nobody is touched in a way they shouldn’t be touched. Or is it wrong for a wife to share a bed with her husband.”
(Y/N) remembers Emily telling her to not judge anything anyone of the girls will say. But damn it, this girl is really hard not to judge.
“Wait wait wait. Let me get this straight: You are simping for that walking quote machine?” Okay, maybe she is judging. But just a little bit.
“If simping means deeply in love then yes, I am simping for Benjamin Cyrus, my husband.” At this point the other three agents get closer again. “Jessica, the state of Colorado demands parental consent. You aren’t married to him unles-'' The black haired woman cuts the young doctor off. “She did give consent.”
(Y/N) can barely contain the unsurprised “surprised” gasp leaving her mouth. But it would have been cut short nonetheless, since sudden gunfire erupted outside the school building.
Fairly quickly everybody is evacuated through the tunnels. As Cyrus tells the cult members to trust in god, the teenager turns to the agents. “This much to it’s safe for me here. Didn’t anybody check for weapons or something?” Flabbergasted because of the whole situation Spencer answers. “Yes, Garcia checked with the authorities and nothing was suspicious.”
Suddenly Lunde takes all the courage she has (maybe because a teenager she brought into this is in immediate danger like all the other kids) and goes up with the cult leader to speak to the shooting law enforcement officers. Shortly after the other three get the message of her death.
But they don’t have any time to think about her, since they all are shoved into the chapel.
While Cyrus holds a speech about trust in god in dangerous and trying times like this the BAU in Quantico learns about the shooting through the tv news report.
“HOTCH”, Morgan yells up to the Unit Chief’s office, probably giving everybody else a heart attack. Alarmed Aaron storms out into the bullpen followed by Rossi, who is attracted by the tumult. “Aren’t Prentiss and Reid on that ranch?” Derek asks, his eyebrows furrowing in worry.
Squinting at the screen, horror etches on the other agent’s face. “(Y/N) is also there”, he says, realizing that they sent a minor with zero field experience into a lava hot situation.
Suddenly the whole bullpen’s phones ring, which results in Hotch barking his first commands.
After a nightflight to Colorado the team sets up at the crime scene.
“Dave, I was appointed to determine the primary negotiator”, Aaron tells him after he pulls him to the side. “It makes sense. I trained most of the people here, if you want me I can give you a few recommendations.” But the Unit Chief shakes his head. “No, I want you to be the negotiator in this.”
Now it’s Rossi’s turn to shake his head. “Aaron, I can’t do it, I’m too emotionally involved.” “So are all of us and why should I take the student if I can have the teacher?” The older one sighs in resignation and accepts the offer. They don’t have the team nor reccourses for any mistakes in this.
As he goes to prepare for his task at hand, Hotch hears a man complaining loudly. “I demand to talk to know why I wasn't told that the FBI was sending undercover agents into the Saptarian ranch?” “The only thing you are in position to demand is a lawyer”, he says while stepping closer to the scene.
“Who the hell are you?” The man spits out into his direction. “I’m Aaron Hotchner, Unit Chief. I’m the guy who is gonna tell the Attorney General of the United States whether to charge you with obstructing a federal investigation or negligent homicide.” “You can’t talk to me like that”.
Upon closing the little bit of space between both of them, Aaron stares him down. “Get off my crime scene.” Just a few seconds of the intense and pissed Hotch Stare are enough to chase that man down to his car and go on his way to Coward Island.
Meanwhile the first contact is made, Emily and Spencer tell (Y/N) in hushed voices what the situation means. “There are three groups here. The leader, in this case Cyrus. The hard die hard believers, the goons of him, and the followers”, Spencer explains.
“In a case like this we go for minimal loss. We try to get as many of the followers out as possible, because the rest won’t give up as long as they can breathe. At first we go with one or two people, children mostly, then with smaller groups and in the end we get out as many of these people we can. Soon, there will be the first supply delivery from our team, but it’s gonna be bugged, which means we know they are listening. Understood?” Emily adds.
Aside from the knowledge that there is a great possibility that they won’t come out alive of this one, (Y/N) is pretty calm. “Honestly, it’s pretty extra here. I mean I can’t even, look at the walls and the whole pseudo decoration. Why would anybody choose this willingly? But yeah, I understand.” Seeing that these phrases are a kind of a coping mechanism, the two agents aren’t too concerned about her right now. I mean, of course they are pretty much on edge because they all are in a hostage situation, but since the teenager doesn’t seem to be on the verge of a breakdown she has to be fine.
“Is there anything you want to know?” The black haired woman asks, stroking the younger one’s hair out of her face. “No, not right now. This is anything but basic, but I’ll hit you up if something shoots into my mind.”
When Rossi comes in to hand make the first delivery, he looks beyond worried. It seems like he got years older in the span of the last 24 hours. As he glances through the rows of people, he subtly acknowledges their presence and well being.
“How do we know this will be nothing like Waco?” (Y/N) asks out of the blue as all the members get a cup of wine. Surprised Emily turns towards her. “You know about Waco?”
“Duh? I told you, I’m educated. So, how do we kno-” “And together we drank the poison.” “Oh well, I guess we do now. It’s nearly iconic how bad his acting is.” Now both of the agents look confused at her.
“What? Didn’t I tell you that I was a theater kid? Also, his goons are writing the reactions down, so it’s just a test to know who to separate from the group and who not.” Even in a situation like this a girl in a red and black flannel over a white graphic tee - it is a Doctor Who Tardis - astounds them.
Not long after this, the three of them are shoved into a small room, which looks sort of like an office.
“Which one of you is it?” Cyrus asks. Confused Prentiss, Reid and the intern look at him. When nobody speaks up he pulls out his gun. “One of you is an FBI agent. So who is it?”
In the short silence he points his weapon at (Y/N). “Oof. Dude, what the fu-” “She is a child. The FBI doesn’t recruit children. But she is a good leverage. So, if neither of you reveals their identity, I will blow her brain out.” This is the final point for the teenager to slowly freak out.
“It’s me. I’m the FBI agent”, Emily confesses. Seeing the young girl with panic in her eyes sets something off in her. Roughly she is taken away by two big guys.
“No no no! This can’t be right. Nobody of us is from the feds. It’s not her, you stupid piece of boom-” With a swift motion of his gun Cyrus knocks her out.
“Damn, this is an annoying one. I don’t know how you can even take her seriously.”
(Y/N) wakes up half an hour later in the chapel draped over two stools with her head in Spencer’s lap. He strokes her hair while his mind is running non stop looking for a solution to this situation. A groan tells him that she is awake.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” The young doctor asks in a soft voice. “If good means your head feels like it’s dancing samba without me, then I’m good.”
He smiles. “We are going to get out here, soon. I convinced Cyrus that we are on his side. He also won’t hurt Emily any further. I saw her earlier, he held a speech. She is fine, just a bit roughen up.”
To lie to the girl like that feels wrong to Reid, but he can see signs of a concussion by her behavior and doesn’t want to worry her more than she already is.
Three o’clock rolls closer and closer, which makes both of them more nervous. Because of the lack of communication they don’t know the tactic the team will use to come in. They can only hope that they all come out alive and in one piece.
Since they are in the chapel, their attention is solely on the cult leader. They don’t even notice all the women and children leaving. As (Y/N) and Spencer spot Cyrus with the remote for detonating the explosives, she mumbles “Let’s get this bread”.
When the leader sees Spencer trying to convince one of the die hard believers that he has a choice to change his mind, he punches the young doctor so hard in the gut that even (Y/N), whose vision is slightly blurred, feels the pain he endures.
“Hey Cyrus”, she calls out, “TBH I think all the shit you are doing here didn’t pass my vibe check. Also, the whole system is pretty whack.”
“You are a child, you don’t know anything. If god doesn’t want me to do any of this, he would stop me.” As Cyrus cocks his gun towards Spencer, Derek runs in and shoots him in the chest twice.
(Y/N) crosses her arms over her chest, says “Ok, Boomer” and rolls her eyes.
“Are you ok, princess?” Morgan asks, going over to her and examining the wound on the side of her head. “Never felt better now that there are two Derek Morgans to protect me.” Concerned he goes to say something else, but is cut short by Spencer shouting “RUN!”.
A look behind them shows Jessica short circuiting upon her husband’s death and grabbing the remote.
When the explosion erupts, Emily looks terrified at the remains of the chapel.
“Morgan! Reid! (Y/N)!” She shouts, followed by the other members and their calls after the three. A certain fear captures every single one of them. If only one of them is- No. Nobody can go through this thought. They are going to be fine. They are alive and-
“Thank god”, JJ breathes as she spots three limping figures. They slowly approach the group of four. “EMILY!” The teenager shouts relieved, though a little loud for the proximity between them. “SPENCER WOULDN’T REALLY TELL ME HOW YOU ARE! YOU LOOK TERRIBLE! THANK HARRY STYLES YOU ARE FINE!” Yes, the explosion definitely messed all of their hearings up, since Morgan and Reid also speak with the same volume.
Emily hugs her. “I’m okay. But you need to get checked out.” But the teenager vehemently shakes her head as she hugs Aaron. “I DON’T NEED TO”, when she sees her teammate’s faces, she reduces her loudness. “I am ok. But Spencer, he got a good blow to his guts. I think the Queen in England even felt that vibe check.”
As Derek escorted the young doctor to one of the awaiting ambulances, JJ also gently stirs the girl in the same direction. “Just let a doctor look over your head, it looks like a nasty cut and believe me, you want to get this checked out, Honey.” “But Jayje-” She begins to complain, but gets cut off by bile rising up her throat. In the next moment (Y/N) kneels on the floor, letting out anything she got in her system over the course of the past few days.
“I think this is nothing your body should do, Bambi”, Rossi adds up. Unwillingly the intern goes with the blonde mother to the EMTs. They decide to have a doctor looking over her and getting her x-rays done at the hospital.
A few hours and uncountable complaints from (Y/N) later, the team is back on the jet on their way home. She thanked Emily in a heartfelt moment in the hospital shortly after she got pain killers, which made her loopy, for saving her life by putting her own on the line by exposing her identity. Even Prentiss had tears in her eyes as she saw the young and innocent girl so frayed by the just occured events.
Unusual for Rossi, he takes a seat on the sofa, petting his lap as (Y/N) sits beside him. With pleasure she lays her head onto it, cuddling closer into the fuzzy blanket she got from Morgan.
A few minutes into the flight, Rossi just got into describing the interviews he conducted with Ted Bundy, Aaron motions him to make space. David excuses himself with the reasoning of getting a cup of tea for her.
“I’m sorry”, Hotch says as he runs his hands through his youngest employee’s hair. He is careful to not mess with the bandage she has on the side of her head. Confused (Y/N) looks up to him. “What for?” “For sending you into a situation, where you got seriously hurt.”
This makes the girl sit up, though her world once again begins to spin. “Aaron Hotchner, I hope you don’t mean that. You nor anybody else knew that this was going to happen. You only wanted for me to get as much experience as possible while this internship lasts and I tell you, with that story I’ll go viral on TikTok. Just because I got a medium severe concussion and a wound, which hopefully will leave a badass scar, doesn’t mean you have to apologize. But you can do me one favor.” “Anything.” “When I fall asleep, please make sure I don’t choke on my own vomit. The doctor told me it could happen, that’s why I am not allowed to fall asleep unsupervised. But I haven’t slept in three days and I think I'm beginning to feel uncomfy because of that.”
Smiling softly Hotch nods and lets the teenager take her original place in his lap. Minutes later she is fast asleep. But one thing is certain:
As soon as she wakes up and feels any better, she is going to tell everybody who wants to listen about the one time where she got blown up by a fifteen years old girl, who was married to a cult leader. And nobody is gonna believe her tea. Except for Penelope, who greets (Y/N) with a hug and the promise to never let her out of her eyesight.

You did not attend the second day of the tournament. Whether it was out of Barnes insecurity or anger or even both was not known. You did not complain for it. You didn’t have any energy for it after all that occured. He did not apologize, nor did he forgive, but he bided you and left in a lighter mood than you’d seen him in for a long while.
He wasn’t competing that day either. Perhaps that eased his stress. You languished in his chambers alone. You paced, you laid down but did not sleep, you sat by the fire then stared out the window. You existed in anticipation of his return.
When he appeared, the sky was a dimming blue. He did not acknowledge you as he kicked off his boots before entering. He rolled his shoulders and picked out a chain to hang around his straight collar. When he finished that, he opened up the wardrobe and selected a fine burgundy velvet piece and draped it over your lap. You watched him as he checked the ring on his finger.
“You will accompany me to the feast,” he stated, “now that we’ve come to an accord, there should not be another scene… isn’t that so?”
“Yes, my lord,” you stood and he helped you dress a piece at a time. The gown was stiff and hot. You chose a black cap trimmed in gold to pair with it and he offered you a chain link necklace to wrap around your throat. He eyed you up and down and peered out between the curtains.
“We will be late,” he said as he came back to you, “sweeting,” he poked his tongue between his lips as he considered you, “this morning…” his lashes lowered as he thought, “I was irrational last eve. Tonight should not be so… hostile. I long to start anew.”
“As you wish, my lord,” you agreed, “I never intended any acrimony between us. I’ve only served you--”
“Serve,” he shook his head, “I do not want you to serve me,” he took your arm, “I’d prefer you… care for me. Be with me in more than your deeds.”
“How were the games today, my lord?” you eluded him.
“Entertaining… well, for a time. By the finale, I was rather bored of it,” he shrugged, “I also did not say but you will sit with me this night. The king, my sister truly, has seen to it.”
You let him lead you out of the chambers. Lester was there as always, smug in his armour as he watched Lord Barnes direct you down the corridor. You ignored the guard as you always tried to do. He was the reason you were stuck, you’d decided, if he wasn’t so eager to impress his master you would have got away.
That time, you entered the feast hall from the opposite side. You felt Bucky tense as you passed through the doors. You kept your eyes on the floor as he took you up onto the dais among the higher nobles and the king. You couldn’t help but hold his arm tighter.
“You will be fine,” he assured as he drew you along.
He greeted Lord Rogers in a low voice and pulled out a chair for you to sit. He lowered himself between you and Rogers as King Samuel called to him from the Duke’s other shoulder.
“My lady,” the king raised his already full goblet at you, “we welcome you. We trust Barnes should not be so dour with you near.”
“Your majesty,” you bowed your head and when his attention returned to his queen, Rebecca, Barnes’ sister, you sat back and hid behind her brother. She was even more beautiful than when she’d resided in the castles. She had the same dark hair and those sparkling blue eyes.
You glanced around the hall and your eyes skimmed over those three figures you were trying not to think of. You stared at the table instead as you shook away the memory of May’s warm voice, Benjamin’s quiet comfort, and Peter’s hurt and shock. The previous night still lingered and made you fill rotten and even more displaced. You weren’t dumb enough to believe that any would see you beside the duke and believe you anything but what you were.
“Pardon, my lady,” the chair on your other side shifted and you looked up at the man with the odd accent. You hadn’t seen him before but there were so many faces, you couldn’t have recalled them all, “I believe this is my seat,” he clung to the seat next to yours, “I only did not want to startle--”
“Don’t talk to her!” Barnes hissed from your other shoulder and stood with a scrape of his chair. He squeezed your shoulder and uttered under his breath, “do not entertain this man.” He turned and flagged down Samuel with an angry wave, “what is this? For what purpose is he here?”
“Buck,” Samuel lowered his cup and stood. He walked behind the chairs until he reached the stormy duke, “the war is over. He was sent as assurance of that. We are allies now.”
“I should throttle him where he stands,” Barnes growled.
The other man sat coolly and signaled for his goblet to be filled, entirely unconcerned with the ravenous lord snarled at his throat.
“You will not. I cannot send him back dead and indeed, I do intend to send him back better than,” Samuel chided, “now sit and bide your tongue and your wrath.”
“He--” Barnes huffed then clamped his lips shut. You’d seen him angry but never like that. “You would sit him near me.”
“It was an unfortunate oversight. Perhaps Rogers might allow you to relocate--”
“No, no,” Barnes sneered and dropped into his chair, “your priorities have been understood.”
“I’ve allowed you a lot,” Samuel lowered his voice as he leaned over Barnes’ chair, “don’t make me rescind all my kindness.”
Barnes grumbled like a petulant child and reached for his cup. When it was empty he slammed it down and snapped his fingers for a servant. You looked around, your natural response was to do it yourself but you did not move out of fear. You were between two men with an obvious and intense distaste for each other.
“Apologies, lady, I cannot fault him his distrust--”
“Don’t talk to her,” Barnes pointed at the man as a servant stood at his other shoulder to pour his wine, “I will not warn you again. Her nor I will have a word from you.”
The man laughed and drank from his own cup and shrugged. He winked at you as you eyed him and he considered you a long while after. Barnes reached over and grabbed the arm of your chair to drag it closer to his.
He whispered in your ear, his breath tickling your skin, “he is a villain and you will not indulge his want of menace.”
“Yes, my lord,” you murmured as his hand went to your arm and searched out your hand from the folds of your sleeve. He shook as he twined his fingers between yours. He was more than angry, he was more upset than he’d ever been.
🏰
Barnes dragged you from the hall as the dancing commenced. He’d been agitated throughout the dinner and you let him stew in it rather than say or do anything that might provoke him. You didn’t know who that man was but his accent hinted at a former adversary, perhaps in one of the campaigns that the duke fought in years ago. You wouldn’t ask, that would be stupid.
That night, he was uninterested in your body beyond holding you close. He was still wound tight and fidgety. When you woke, he was already risen and half-dressed. He was shirtless and his arm remained on the chest where he’d left it. He sat on the bench and looked to it.
You got up and lifted his arm. It was heavy but you managed. You wondered how he could bear it every day. The thoughts swirled in your mind as you thought that no one would think less if he only pinned his sleeve. He was a veteran, a hero to many, he shouldn’t be ashamed.
Then you caught yourself as you approached him. He was awful. You shouldn’t pity him, you hated him. You helped him strap on the artificial appendage and silently buckled the straps. He groaned and pushed his head back as you finished.
“You should dress. You’ll do well to watch the games with me. Tomorrow I will be competing again and you will have to attend alone… though I did think to send Lester with you or another,” he said as you helped him into his tunic.
You acquiesced and pulled out a pale gown in a gentle robin’s egg blue. He helped you in turn and you stood before him ready to play your part. He sat and handed you a comb to help with his hair and you pulled it back behind his head and bound it with a thin tie. He almost purred as you did and when you finished he pulled your hand down onto his shoulder.
“We should away. Break our fast and go early to the stands. A box is reserved for me and you would not have to sit amid the masses,” he bid as he rose, “I trust you know what is expected of you now.”
“You, only you,” you assured him, “I will not wander again, my lord.”
“I will not tolerate it again,” he warned, “but I trust you, sweeting.” He pulled you to the door and his hand slipped to grope your through your skirts, he turned and bent to kiss you hungrily, “this will be over soon,” he drew away, “and we will return to our home.”
🏰
The box was much nicer than the crowded stands. The benches there were cushioned and only held several lords and ladies. The king was competing in the ax-throw and his queen observed in the box with two of her ladies, Marguerite and Tess, you and Barnes shared a bench but he was hardly interested in the games, and Lord Rogers paced behind the seats as Lord Stark boasted about the axes he’d designed for the tournament.
“Barnes,” Stark called to the duke, “I should have your saddle modified for your use on the morrow but some questions remain.”
Barnes sighed and touched your arm as he spoke quietly to you, “I swear he is so concerned, he is up to some trick with it.” He stood and walked around the bench to sit with Stark, “questions?”
“I have it…” Stark reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded page, “these are sketches of what I’ve done but I did wonder for some practical attunements given your… needs.”
The duke sniffed and looked over the drawings and you focused on the field as the targets were arranged further away than the previous round. You were startled as you sensed movement and you rose as Rebecca came near. She waved you off and sat beside you.
“Forgive me, I haven’t had a chance to see you,” she said sweetly, “I do remember you… lady, now, is it?”
“No, not really,” you ran your thumb down your palm, “your majesty, he bid me here, I know it is not proper--”
“My brother is stubborn, do not apologize for that for I am certain you suffer for it,” she trilled, “and he is peculiar but somehow I was not surprised at how he has… taken to you.”
“Your majesty,” you dipped your chin down as you listened.
“I imagine it must be lonely. You don’t know anyone and how could you? It is a poorly kept secret what you are, and I say that without condemnation, but he has thrust you into an unkind position,” she continued.
“I serve your family as I always have,” you replied.
“Your mother… she’s a pleasant woman, I always liked her. She used to bring up my linens and she had the most friendly face. How does she fare?”
“She died,” you uttered, “she had a growth in her neck and… she could not be saved.”
“I am very sorry, I didn’t--”
She pushed her shoulders back. She reminded you of her brother in her posture but she was kinder than him. She peered around the arena and nodded to herself as she thought. She peeked back at Barnes and you did too. He was irritated as Rogers had closed him in on the bench and both lords seemed to be working to stoke him.
“I must admit I did not see to you purely out of sentiment of our shared past,” she continued, “there was none in that hall last night who did not feel my brother’s spite or notice the man who earned it.” You blinked at her as you met her gentle eyes. Her smiled fell and she touched your sleeve, “he has afforded you quite the wardrobe but perhaps I might see to something more of the fashion.”
“That man,” you urged, “who was he?”
She chuckled darkly and lowered her chin, “forgive my distraction. That man is Baron Helmut Zemo,” she spoke in barely a whisper, “he fought in the campaigns… against my brother and my husband.”
You watched her nervously. You were still a kid when Barnes went off to war with his banner and you remembered his return, how none had seen him for years after as he hid away with his wounds.
“He dealt the blow that took my brother’s arm,” she quivered, “I warned Samuel it was tenuous to bring him here but… in the name of diplomacy it cannot be avoided. I only want you to know because you deserve that and it would help in dealing with my brother's moods… perhaps. I don't think anyone has ever truly understood how."
"Oh, uh, thank you, your majesty," you looked across the field as metal crashed into wood, "I suppose it is better that I know."
"Better you know and stay clear of the Baron," she said, "and for me, keep my brother from him as well. We cannot afford another war on the back of his grudge."
"I… how--"
"You do not see it but you hold a power over him. We both know his reputation; unsociable to say the least," she laughed lightly, "keep his mind from Zemo until he is gone, there are better things he could think on."
She stood with a last smile and you watched her skirts flow behind her. You kept your head up and your eyes down on the figures below. You did your best not to wince as her show of kindness became apparent for what it was. She was like her brother in more than just her looks. She was using you for her own means, that was all these nobles could see in others.

Hello, I was wondering how you feel about the "Cat Blanc" ML episode? It thought it strange for reasons I can't really articulate so I was hoping to read your thoughts. I am not that good at analysis but I love your episode reviews. They are very insightful and usual help me understand why I liked/didn't like a certain episode.
A belated review/analysis of Chat Blanc! Here we go!
So, Chat Blanc… It wasn't all that great, now, was it?
The good:
Gabriel's motives are made crystal clear once more, which makes his pushing them to their very limits all the more shocking. The Agreste family vault looks impressive, almost church-like, it's some pretty strong imagery. Not outstandingly original but pretty good stuff nevertheless.
Angry Rose is funny.
Marinette's “Know what I won't take for an answer?” and a smash cut to Nathalie's “No.” That's good comedy.
Ladybug goofing around in the Burrow. It's harmless, she's a kid, these different points in time look interesting.
Chat Blanc's future looks eery and white and blue and it really works, we rarely see post-apocalyptic landscapes like this one, usually it's all muddy and dark and this isn't the case here. I appreciate that. The first wide shot in which the camera spins around Montparnasse tower is great.
Chat Blanc's animation is really creepy and for the most part, it's intentional.
if you’re a sucker for mid 2000s evil sadboys aesthetics, you’ll love this.
Have a montage of Adrienette being sickeningly cute.
I’m watching this in French and let me tell you, Benjamin Bollen might have to work with terrible lines but he’s doing a damn fine job with them
That shot in which the debris and Ladybug break the water’s surface, the bubbles and all… It looks great. I don’t know who is in charge of this but it looked genuinely great.
Chat Noir’s akumatisation and his trying to control his power and not hurt anybody is pretty great, as a concept.
The final scene is a nice parallel to the one earlier in the episode. Repetition with variation is an easy way to make me like things and it works nicely.
The bad:
The Girl Squad bullying Marinette is… Eh.
Stalkerish obsessed Marinette is a joke that overstayed its welcome by that point. Had this been an early season 2 joke, it would have worked. It's a late season 3 joke, it's honestly a bit creepy at this point.
That reveal is fanfic-worthy. It feels really light, and not as big a deal as would have been the case if that episode had any consequences. You can already tell this'll be retconned by the end of the episode.
Bunnyx's burrow. It's unimpressive. It's neither bizarre enough nor flashy enough to really work for me. And that TARDIS joke made me roll my eyes.
If you hate mid 2000s evil sadboys aesthetics, you’ll hate this.
They re-use the same two cars for Ladybug to jump on and it’s pretty obvious. There are smart ways of recycling assets. This isn’t one of them.
Wow, that’s a terrible first kiss, the shot is… Pretty bad.
Gabriel being an asshole and breaking Adrienette up for the stupidest, most selfish reasons feels unfair and that’s the point… But also that scene at the bakery is pretty lame, it doesn’t flow very well, the characters are oddly static and not expressive enough for it to be striking, the lighting doesn’t work with the mood of the scene at all. It feels abrupt, yes, but also cheap.
“It was our love that did this to the world milady.” What a stupid, edgy line.
Bad low-res textures being stretched are clearly visible in quite an awful lot of shots.
Wow. Destroyed Paris is the exact same city as usual, just as empty, only this time they replaced the sky with a “water surface” animation loop. It’s… Underwhelming. You had a great concept and this is what you do with it?
Can you believe they made destruction on a cosmic scale look so bland? How do you mess up that bad?
That confrontation between Hawk Moth and our heroes. This should be season finale material. It’s considerably cheapened.
The ugly:
With the few exceptions listed above, the rendering is not good at all, the lighting is flat and inexpressive which could give everything a kind of otherworldly feel if only used in some sequences (and that would be clever!)… Only it's off, all of the time. Chat Blanc is the only character that looks okay in his timeline.
The animation is off when it shouldn't be, outside of the exception listed earlier. Everything is much too stiff, characters' expressions are off, the timing is off. It's a shame, really. The action sequences are decently boarded but look pretty bad.
“Just because I know her secret identity doesn't mean she has to know about mine.” That's a terrible line. And we're supposed to be rooting for that kid. That's not how healthy relationships work, the episode never addresses that because Adrien is perfect, he's just sad and understandably troubled by these revelations.
Do you remember when Gabriel was shown to care for his son, the complex character drama that could have arisen from that? Well it sure as hell ain’t there.
That Guy boarded that episode. He has a weird, err, fixation on a 14yo girl’s butt and makes sure to include a shot in which it is shoved at the viewers’ faces. Seriously? What is wrong with you? If you so badly want to sexualise characters, it’s not like there aren’t any adults in Miraculous.
Perfectly good ideas are skimmed over in a matter of seconds because this episode is only 22 minutes long. The audience is bombarded with pretty major turning points in a matter of seconds and can barely process any of them.
If the point of your episode is, “it’s better if it doesn’t exist” then you obviously shouldn’t be making this episode… Right? Seems pretty obvious to me, but apparently it isn’t since Chat Blanc exists.
That end card has Hawk Moth look like he’s rolling his eyes and so was I by the end of this episode. The overwhelming feeling of all of this for nothing but the reassertion that these two are “made for each other” which, yawn.
Perfectly good ideas wasted on an episode with mediocre writing and bad animation and rendering.
It's a pretty forgettable episode, funnily enough, I had to rewatch it to be able to write this review.
Hope this helped, Anon! Thanks for the compliment!

On the latest round of Gal Gadiscourse
Normally, I scroll/unfollow/block and move on, but I’m so sick of this bullshit.
Since 2020 continues to be deeply committed to being the absolute worst, I now have to open my mouth about the latest round of Gal Gadiscourse. This is going to be my first and last statement about it. I’m not going to debate this. I’m not going to have a “civil discussion” about it. I’m drawing a boundary, and because of the context, I’m doing you the courtesy of explaining why. Fuck with that boundary by putting that shit in my space, and I'm just unfollowing and/or blocking without even bothering to engage.
So, about the whole “cheering for the deaths of Palestinian children” thing.
Now I’m going to commit one of Vizzini’s classic blunders and get involved in a land war in Asia in order to say...
Yes, I’d heard about that. Then I looked for myself and came to the conclusion that it's a grotesque misrepresentation of what she said. The context of her statement was very clear if you're not wearing Jews Are Bloodthirsty Demons goggles. Her disapproval was clearly directed Hamas for specific acts against Palestinian civilians with a dash of "Support the troops" thrown in. Whoop-dee-fucking doo.
(BTW, did y’all have this same energy for Adam Driver every time a new movie from the Star Wars sequel trilogy came out? Israel mandates service for able-bodied citizens when they turn 18. Driver volunteered to enlist in the Marines because of 9/11. *crickets*)
Honestly, I have a much bigger problem with the role the US military has in bankrolling big-budget films. But that’s a huge issue you just can’t yell at a celebrity on social media about in order to feel morally superior to them.
Regarding Gal Gadot herself, everything she has publicly stated about Israel and Palestine, since way back when she was mostly recognizable from playing Gisele in the Fast And The Furious franchise, has stressed coexistence. Just last year, she pretty much told Netanyahu—y'know, the Israeli Prime Minister, remember him?—to not use her name and image to make it look like she agrees with him about demonizing Palestinians. Some time before that, she posted on IG or FB about some Israelis who'd gathered and made signs saying hateful things about Palestinians, and she criticized them for saying such things about Israel's "neighbors" (her word).
But for some "mysterious" reason, y’all gentiles love to make shit up about this woman making her out to secretly monstrous in all the ways that tick all the boxes for antisemitic canards—I’ll never forget "kill notches on her rifle!"—yet y’all adamantly refuse to consider that mayyyyyyyybe antisemitism has something to do with it, and y'all might have blind spots and prejudices y'all need to work on.
What makes all this worse is that Benjamin Netanyahu (@IsraeliPM) and the IDF (@IDF), the people with actual decision-making power, are right there on Twitter. Blue checkmark and all. They're on that bird app all the time. And you can tell they’re not run by bots because they got jokes. Hating on Gal Gadot as a proxy for the individuals and organizations who are directly responsible for decisions made during the conflict is some Protocols of the Elders of Zion shit, and I’m not having it.
Don’t even get me started on that shitty Medium article that where Gal Gadot develops the superpower of being in Israel and on the other side of the world at the same time. Apparently, in addition to controlling the weather, Jews can teleport too. Not to mention, the description of events is described in a way that mirrors a scene from a movie she was in. I know because I saw the movie. And own the DVD.
This one was particularly insidious because it used “believe victims” as a way to make someone who didn’t do anything look evil. It's really aggravating because the women who came forward about men like Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Harvey Weinstein, and Brett Kavanaugh got way more scrutiny than that Medium article did.
It’s particularly disgusting in light of how rampant harassment, abuse, and rape are in the entertainment industry and how many women, including some very famous women, experience such things throughout their careers. In one interview following Brett Ratner getting fired, Gadot mentions that the things the #MeToo movement brings attention to is very common in the film and modeling industries, and she herself was lucky to not have experienced it. It’s really sick to start a rumor like that about someone who’s much more likely to have been a victim or survivor than a perpetrator.
Fortunately for her, she’s rich and famous, so she can fight things like this if she wants or needs to. Others who don’t have such privileges are in prison right now for who knows how long.
Granted, it’s not unusual for people involved with politics or entertainment to be full of shit. It’s not unusual for famous people to be bigots or assholes. But the things people have accused her of that have been uncritically accepted as fact go way above and beyond anything she’s publicly said or done. I can’t chalk it up to basic misogyny because TERFs and Karens have been coming out of the woodwork like termites. It’s as though her real “sin” is existing in public as an Israeli Jew who doesn’t flagellate herself over it.
So, I’m gonna be absolutely, abundantly clear. Portraying Gal Gadot as evil or monstrous is antisemitic as fuck, and motherfuckers need to knock it off. I don’t give a shit if you like her or not. I don’t give a shit if you agree with her or not. But this thing where you do where disagreeing with or disliking a Jewish person means you get to demonize or dehumanize them? Nah, not in my space.
Tip your waitress.

11x02: Acheron, Part 2 - Analysis
Okay, let’s talk 11x02. And 11x01. Because it’s a two-part episode, it’s important to consider them together. I have a LOT to say about what’s going on in these two episodes, so I’ll have plenty to post all week. Let’s dive in!
***As always, spoilers abound below for TWD 11x02. Don’t read until you’ve watched! You’ve been warned!***
Maggie
The first thing we see is a point of view from under the train car. The instant I saw that, I knew how things would go. I never thought Maggie would die (if nothing else, there are scenes with her in the trailer we haven’t seen yet) but I was curious as to how she would survive. When I saw this POV, I knew she’d end up crawling under the train. Just as Glenn crawled under the dumpster. Massive parallels to Glenn. Which by extension, massive parallels to Beth. Major resurrection theme.
It's also important that when she reappears, she comes from underneath the car. Obviously, that’s logical given that she crawled underneath the car, but they make a point of asking if the pounding is coming from the roof. Gabriel says no and then they open the bottom hatch for her. Her coming up from the ground like that is a visual representation of a resurrection.
So we see Gabriel, Negan and the others enter the train car. The spatial details here are important, and I had to watch the episode twice to get them all straight. It’s a little confusing the first time. So, the group jumps down into the train car through a hatch in the roof because they couldn’t get the door open in the last episode. The thing is, if you watch closely, you come to realize they’re not in the train car on the end. They must have walked along the roof for two or three cars before finding a hatch that let them in.
So, when Gauge shows up, he comes behind them, and that confused me because I was thinking they came from that direction. And they did, but they entered through the roof, not the door. Anyway, they can’t get the door open. So honestly, even if they’d tried harder, I’m not sure they could have saved him.
This scene accomplished a lot of things, character-wise, that we need to touch on. It’s important to note that Gauge’s death happened due to his own choices. Does that mean he “deserved” to die or that they shouldn’t have tried to save him if they could have? Of course not. No on both counts. But that doesn’t change the fact that his choices sealed his fate.
It's especially interesting that he called Maggie a Liar. Not only is that a throwback to the Governor, but it’s a particular type of mentality they’re showing here. Even the fact that he didn’t shut the door behind him is really interesting. My first thought was to be annoyed with him. Why WOULDN’T you shut the door. You live in this world. You know better. But it’s all ego. He can’t imagine something bad will happen. He just assumes if it does, someone will save him.
But the most telling thing was how angry he got before saying Liar. It just shows very much how he approaches life. When he messes up, he doesn’t feel bad, and accept that it was his fault, and try to learn from it. No, instead he gets pissed and blames everyone but himself and his own actions.
If this had been Daryl or Gabriel or Alden or any of our other heroes, they would have recognized that opening the door would have gotten their friends and family killed and would have sacrificed themselves. Especially if they realized they’d screwed up. But Gauge became angry and defiant, even killing himself.
Anyway, I’m rambling. This really has nothing to do with Beth or TD other than perhaps being a future template for something. But I thought it was a really fascinating character sketch.
The thing is, this isn’t really a matter of Gauge being wrong and everyone else being right.
Maggie is…not doing so well either. As I told my fellow theorists, Paola Lazaro said in TTD last week that Maggie was kind of off the rails. I think she said that a little prematurely, because we really didn’t understand Maggie’s state of mind just by watching 10x17 and 11x01.
It's not until she tells that messed up story about the house she found and the people in it that we understand that her state of mind really isn’t at its healthiest. Even saying she wanted to kill Negan before is…understandable given their past. But it makes more sense now why Negan is so nervous. He’s sensing her state of mind that her moral conscience isn’t as strong as it once was, so of course he’s fearful for his life.
I don’t know where they’re going with this Maggie story line, but I have a feeling this attitude of hers will cause conflict down the road. Several of my fellow theorists believe it will cause a rift between her and Daryl. And we can see that somewhat through Alden. At first, he was very much defending Maggie, especially against Negan. He has a lot of loyalty to her. But he didn’t like her abandoning Gauge, and you can see his loyalties starting to waver.
At the very least, what she said about not feeling anything about it is the opposite of what Beth always stood for. Daryl was trying hard not to feel things during Still, in the wake of the prison going down. She made him feel things because that’s the only way a person is truly living, rather than just surviving. Now Maggie is in that state of mind.
And I’m gonna argue that makes it a prime time for Beth to return to help her. But of course I’m completely objective over here. ;D
Maggie’s Story:
Maggie’s story was definitely dark and horrible, but interesting to analyze. I’m assuming there was cannibalism going on there. That’s why the missing limbs. The men in the house were eating the female prisoners. No only a callback to Terminus, but remember that Bob’s leg was taken for food, so I’m sure that’s what we’re supposed to infer here.
She talked about no eyes, no tongue, no limbs, vocal cords ripped out. So definitely the see no evil, speak no evil themes. With the limbs, it’s also a matter of not being able to escape or save themselves.
In terms of the plot, I do have one question about this that I think may be significant. Maggie first talks about three deformed people (she says, “I wouldn’t call them men”) coming toward her. She kills them, and only after that hears the noise from the attic.
My question is, why were they deformed? If they’re “men,” then they must be at least Maggie’s age, if not older, which means they’ve been around since before the apocalypse began. Even eating human flesh doesn’t cause one to become deformed, so why the deformities? I have no idea, but I wondered if there is a radiation theme going on here. Something they’re hinting at, but not saying. Just thought that was intriguing.
After that, things go sideways and everyone almost dies until Daryl arrives to save the day. So, let’s skip to his story.
Daryl:
We first see him bust through a wall with Dog. So, dog took off in the last episode, but the first time we see Daryl, he’s already found Dog again. At least, the first time. This is where he sees the murals on the wall, the walker with the handcuff and the suitcase of money, etc. I already talked about most of that in great detail HERE, so I won’t rehash it, though it’s very important.
One thing I will say about the mural is that thematically, it’s a match to Still. So, in the golf club, we had lots of rich people who clearly hid there when the world first went bad. And I don’t remember this particularly, but several of my fellow theorists have told me they remember the TTD after Still and that the writers talked about how the golf club was a statement about the class system. You have these very rich people, but their wealth couldn’t save them. Death, walkers, the apocalypse…none of these things discriminate based on wealth or position.
On the wall, we see people with crowns standing at the top, but below, they are homeless, and one of them is being attacked and torn apart. Meanwhile, Daryl sees a line of text that says, “it comes for us all,” probably meaning death.
Well, guess what? Angela Kang, in talking about the murals, said that this, too, was a statement about the class system. So thematically, this is meant to be a parallel to Still.
It’s just interesting to contemplate because if you think about it, most of our heros—Rick, Daryl, the Greene family, etc—weren’t at all wealthy. Rick was humble and well-grounded. Hershel worked hard his whole life and never had any glory or fanfare. And then there’s Daryl, who was “nothing. No one.” They all survived.
So of course it’s a socioeconomic statement, but it’s also one about mindset. It takes not only grit to survive this world, but a certain amount of humility. Ego always gets you killed eventually, as it did with Gauge.
I’ll also mention that I thought the guy with the crown who was being torn apart was being set upon by walkers, but AK says they’re specifically not walkers. They’re people.
So, it’s not a coincidence that we see this juxtaposed with the Gauge situation. His ego gets him killed and we literally see him being torn apart because of it.
Moving on.
Daryl finds a bag with a $100 bill with a letter written on it. This is a massive TD clue from start to finish. 100 is an important number. The hundred dollar bill features Benjamin Franklin on the front and Independence Hall on the back. Look either of those up and you’ll find lots of fun parallels we could point to. I won’t go into all that today except to say it’s definitely part of the Revolution theme.
This is what’s written on the bill Daryl finds:
“Dear Dad, you always said if you don’t come back in a week to move on. Mom didn’t listen and went looking. It’s been three weeks, so we’re going next. I’ll watch Jesse and turn on the radio every day at 10. See you both soon. Love Tom and Jesse.”
He also finds a picture of two kids. So, the “three weeks” jumps out because of Rick’s line in 5x10, “it’s been three weeks since Atlanta.” It’s also about missing family members, going searching for them, etc. Possibly important that the mom is also missing. I can’t help but think of the song from Still. “Our mother has been absent, every since we founded Rome…”
There is a 10 in there, which is an important number. The turning the radio on every day is both the radio/airwaves theme (also a line from the song) but a callback to Rick and Morgan and their walkie talkies. So, really interesting symbols here.
The two kids immediately reminded me of Noah’s twin brothers. I don’t think these two are supposed to be twins. I’m assuming the brother is older. But still obviously siblings. And it hearkens back to the last episode Beth was technically in. Which also had a lot of the CRM/Revolution theme in it. (X, X).
AK says this family probably didn’t make it, so I’m not expecting these kids to show up in the narrative. But it’s also important to note that the little girl is carrying the toy rabbit Maggie found earlier. So the rabbit also ties into all this symbolism. (P.S. I didn’t get to my rabbit post last week. I planned on it, but time got away from me. I should get it posted later this week.)
So, this is massive in terms of TD symbolism. I’ll talk about it fits into the bigger narrative in a minute.
Then Daryl kills the sleeping bag walker. I wasn’t sure the significance of this at first, but I think it ties to the tents and sleeping bags we saw in Atlanta in 5x06, Consumed. Daryl and Carol passed them while looking for Beth. So, this just shows us that this is tied to her storyline and Daryl searching for her.
You could also argue that the walker was “hidden” at first, and it’s significant that Dog found it/realized it was there before Daryl did.
The other thing is that as he’s looking at the sleeping bag walker, there’s a random shoe on the ground next to it. Missing Shoe/Foot theory, which is also indicative of Beth.
They hear another roaring sound and Dog takes off, running into the dark tunnel.
Here’s the thing. I think most people will assume the roar he heard was just more air being forced through the tunnels by the storm, as Alden explained it in ep 1. But I always watch with the subtitles on and I noticed at this part, the subtitles said, “Man Roaring.” So they actually did hear someone screaming. And that’s probably why Dog ran toward it.
After watching it again, I realized it’s probably supposed to be Roy. He’s the white-haired guy, played by C. Thomas Howell, who Daryl finds wounded after he emerges from the Tunnel. I think whatever happened to him when he went topside but then got attacked by walkers is what Dog heard and went running toward.
Maybe not terribly significant in the plot, but it’s important symbolically. Because once again we have something Daryl hears from a distance but doesn’t see. Dog (a proxy for Beth) runs toward it, and Daryl follows. When he does, he find someone who had previously separated from the group. They’re hurt, but alive. See the parallels?
I will say the Roy situation confuses me just a little. He’s clearly hurt, and when Daryl tries to bandage him, he refuses, saying, “just tell my kids I didn’t die a coward.” But then later he’s with the group, all bandaged up, and seems to be okay. (He dies when they reach the Reapers by taking an arrow to the head, so he still dies overall.) But it’s just weird that it seemed he would die, then seemed he was fine again.
It may well be something that foreshadows a future situation, and that’s why it’s not making tons of sense right now. Only time will tell.
Anyway, I kind of glossed over Daryl crawling through the dark tunnel. I don’t have much else to say about it except that it’s a SUPER potent symbol for Beth’s arc and very important that he emerges on the other side and finds this person. Annnd then goes to save TF. (Dark Tunnel Symbolism).
So, he hears the gunshots and finds the train they’re on. He comes up behind the walkers attacking them from the front, kills them, moves the bench blocking the door, and lets everyone through. Then he uses a grenade to blow up all the walkers. (Ew.)
After that they all get out of the tunnels and go topside. The next scene is also super important. We see the stars above. That’s partly to show that the storm has passed now, but also constellations = Sirius.
Maggie asks what he has and he tells her about it. There is one weird moment in this scene. When she tells them about the supply depot she wants to stop at, she says Georgie (from S8) set it up for emergencies, for people on the outside to use. When it says this, the camera focuses on Daryl for a LONG moment, and he looks almost sad. I’m not sure what they’re trying to tell us there.
Anyway, they all head out. Unfortunately, when they reach the right neighborhood, the Reapers are there to meet/kill them. And Roy is the first to go.
So, a couple of things here. I’ll probably do a details post because I’m leaving out MOST of the background details throughout the episode, and there are a lot of them. Lots of details to be gleaned in this scene.
But the second time I watched it, I was struck by the people hanging upside down. Obviously a grim sight, but it occurred to me that these people hanging this way look a LOT like the deer diagrams from Scars. Let me show you some pictures:
Top pick is 11x02. Middle and bottom one are from Scars.
See what I mean? So, chances are something about Scars foreshadowed the Reapers, which is interesting. They clearly see human beings in a certain way (as animals to be strung up and…perhaps eaten?) And that makes me think that what Maggie found in that house may tie into the Reapers as well. Just kind of interesting foreshadows of coming plots.
Eugene:
Let’s talk Eugene and then I’ll shut up for today. Eugene’s stuff was very intriguing. First thing you need to know. And understand, I didn’t know this. @wdway pointed it out. Some months ago, the actress cast as “Stephanie” was announced. This is her:
And that’s clearly not the woman who steps into the train car at the end. Which means this isn’t really Stephanie. She’s a decoy. In fact, the actress from this episode is billed on IMDb as “woman 2,” not as “Stephanie.”
Knowing that, if you go back and re-watch the parts with Eugene’s group, they mean something very different.
On the surface, it seems that Zeke, Yumiko and Princess are taken away in a sinister fashion. Then Eugene melts down and tells his story. (Note: while he focuses on his feelings for Stephanie and I think most of that is true, he still says he lied both to her and to his friends about being from a large settlement. So, he’s still keeping large chunks of the truth from them.)
Again, on the surface it seems that they accept his explanation and just decide to allow them all in. All the stuff with the other three is just a misunderstanding.
But if “Stephanie” is a decoy, that can’t possibly be the case. I think Zeke and the others told Eugene the truth as they know it, but they’re all still being manipulated.
After Princess left to pee, the guy told Eugene no one was in the room and acted like he had no idea who Princess was. They were definitely using psychological torture on him, trying to break him.
I think they know very well that Eugene's group is still lying about their settlement, and they're using a decoy "Stephanie" to find out the truth.
My point is that it goes back to the hallucination, making-someone-think-they're-crazy theme. It will be really interesting to see how this unfolds, because there's all kinds of psychological shenanigans going on here.
@galadrieljones made a really interesting connection some time ago. She noticed that back in 10x18, at Leah’s cabin, there is a metal, heart-shaped chair. The same chairs show up in the Commonwealth’s sales video from the trailer. So there’s some kind of link between Leah, Daryl’s memory of her, and the Commonwealth. We don’t know what it is yet, but all of this gives credence to the idea that she is either an outright hallucination, or Daryl is just remembering things wrong.
It also might mean that the Reapers are connected to the Commonwealth in some way. We don’t really know yet, but I’m having tons of fun trying to figure it out.
I want to touch briefly on the train car theme. Once again, there’s a parallel in both story lines (Terminus, and this one at the Commonwealth). Daryl’s group is in train cars this episode. And while Eugene’s group has been at a different compound, they started in the train yard and end in it here. But what I noticed is that Eugene enters the train car at the end, which is furnished inside, and finds his friends there. They all have a happy reunion.
It made me think of the fact that when Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and Carl enter the train cars at Terminus, there is also a family reunion. What happened beyond that was not good or easy. Clearly, Terminus was not a good place. Many of them almost died at the trough and they had to fight their way out through a walker blood bath.
I’m just saying that, while it obviously won’t play out exactly the same way, something similar is probably waiting for Eugene’s group outside that train car. Not good.
Acheron Overall:
Okay, let’s get to the big cheese, here. The overall narrative. The template.
These two episodes are called Acheron part 1 and part 2. So here’s the skinny:
Acheron = Underworld. Daryl’s group going into the subway tunnels (dark, underground) is what constitutes Acheron and why the episodes are called that. That’s why, at the end of this episode, they emerge from the tunnels onto the surface (i.e. the living world).
Given all the death, cemetery, and dark tunnel symbolism around Beth, given that she ventured into the land of the dead by being shot, maybe clinically dying for a time, and being thought dead for so long, what this tells me is that everything that happens in these tunnels is a foreshadow and template for what will happen this season.
I maintain that Dog = Beth and we will soon see something where Daryl hears something (not necessarily her; it was a man screaming so I still think it will be Rick he hears word of) and goes chasing after it. While searching for it, he stumbles across Beth. Then the two of them (both Dog and Daryl returned to the train car) go back in time to save TF from something.
This is most likely why the Roy thing is weird. In a super understated way, he represents Rick in the template. Daryl will find him, but only after he finds Beth. Even consider what Roy says. He says, “tell my kids I didn’t die a coward.” And that’s all well and good, but did we even know Roy had kids? No. Have we met them? No. But who has kids that Daryl IS concerned with? That would be Rick.
So I’m thinking that maybe when Daryl finds Rick, Rick will think he’s dying for some reason, and that’s why the dialogue here. But he won’t, which is why we see Roy with the group later.
And no, I’m not thinking that Roy dying via the Reapers will extend to Rick. It’s more like what they’ve done with countless characters that have been Beth proxies. Eventually, they kill them off. He’s a minor character they were using as a proxy, and when they are done with him in the narrative, he becomes walker chow. Or, in this case, Reaper fodder.
Anyway, I think everything will end up being a foreshadow for something. Maggie and Negan. The Gauge situation. All of it. I’ll try to keep coming back to this as the story progresses to show what everything foreshadows. I’ll stop there for today.

SPOOKY/ NON SPOOKY BLS TO WATCH IN HALLOWEEN
Happy Spooky Season BL Fans! Honestly so sad that in Halloween we can't really fully enjoy it due to the pandemic out there. So why not stay at home and have a fun night in during this spooky month watching BLS with spooky/entertaining shows to get you into the spirits. Surprisingly there was a lot of shows from different countries I could add to this list. Join me and let me know what shows you plan to watch for this Halloween!
Ratings: From 1 to 5 (1 being least excited to watch, 5 being most,) how excited am I to delve into these shows/again?
Korea
1. Antique
Ratings: 4/5
Genre/Themes: Psychology, Thriller, Bakery, Bromance, Open ending/Happy ending.
Country: Korea
Verdict: Weirdly, this is one of my favourite BL movies, to be honest, most Korean movies just make me happy despite the sense that you can feel it's censored more than it has to be. Either way antique is so fun to watch, at first you're watching about this guy who hates cakes and sweets, but it is determined to start a bakery to find out some weird stalker who is kidnapping kids, and you're like wait what? As we delve deeper into his past, it becomes horrifying, terrifying and also just intriguing to find out what made him the way he is and how it's affected him psychologically. Add a twist of BL with someone who absolutely loves him and helps him with his bakery, and it's cute and lovely to see.
2. Method
Ratings: 4/5
Genre/Themes: Psychology, Thriller, Romance, Tragedy, Acting industry, Internalised Homophobia
Country: Korea
Verdict: Korea is so good at producing these deep movies that really make you think and analyse whilst still having this haunting introduction to couples that are tragically affected by Internalised Homophobia in Korea. Method may seem like just an artistic story about two people who are being fake with each other, and it does seem that way at the end but when you actually look at it deeply you'd see it's a tragic love story about two people who couldn't fight society with their love for each other and decided to use facades to hide what truly happened. Anyway brilliant show, very thrilling and scary at times towards the ending especially about the psychology of Method actors and the struggle to differentiate what's real vs what's acting when it comes to love and obsession?
Taiwan
History Hero/Obsessed
Ratings: 3.8/5
Genre/Themes: Gender bender, Rebirth, Ghosts, Death, Romance, Comedy, Happy ending
Country: Taiwan
Verdict: History is one of the best anthologies Taiwan produced for BL. And even the first history series are just as good as recent, whilst maybe more low budget and shorter, I still enjoy them as much as the other one. Hero is one that is actually not my most loved one, but it's heartwarming and also interesting to watch. It's a supernatural gender bender, with our main charcter's body taken over by his crush's girlfriend who we watch figure out the budding relationship between her boyfriend and the dead guy. It seems it would be tragic, or end in a heterosexual way but it doesn't, it does have a bitter sweet ending since we're seeing it from her perspective but our BL character's come out unscathed. Obsessed is one of my faves, also a rebirth story, our main character comes back to life and goes back in time after being betrayed by his lover determined to avoid him as much as possible only to realise that his lover is obsessed and determined to get them back together despite not understanding why he loves him. It's so fun to watch this show, and I enjoy the chemistry between Benjamin and Teddy. But yeh Halloween, mysterious deaths, rebirths and romance great times!
Chinese
Rebirth
Ratings: 4/5
Genre/Themes: Rebirth, Romance, Historical, Death, Drama, Royalty, Happy ending
Country: Chinese
Verdict: Absolutely so stoked with this drama, frustrated with censorship from China which prevented some scenes from being shown like the waterfall kiss, but it has a happy ending! Like what? I'm so happy because it's quite dramatic and has moments where it looks like would be tragic but I adore the romance between the King and his companion, and the way they're both loyal to each other. For Halloween this deals with death and reincarnation of our main character to return back and save the King from getting killed. Go watch it if you can find uncut link so worth it.
Untamed
Ratings: 5/5
Genre/Themes: Zombies, Fantasy, Horror, Romance, Happy ending, Rebirth, Death
Country: China
Verdict: Like I don't have to explain this one. Go watch it if you haven't. Tbh for Halloween I'm not going to be watching the show Untamed because I've seen it too many times, so I'll probably be crying over Wei Wuxian and Wang Ji's love with the audio drama (Season 3 especially) Whatever way you wanna watch Mo dao Zu shi: anime, book, tv show, audio drama, this is a masterpiece and so incredibly scary enough, supernatural enough and great enough for this Halloween. A masterpiece.
Guardian
Ratings: 3.5/5
Genre/Themes: Supernatural, Romance, Rebirth, Horror, ,Bromance, Censored, Comedy, Mystery, Detectives
Country: China
Verdict: Guardian is so fun to watch but when I think of it's original source I get so upset with China and I just don't want to watch it especially that stupid ending. But for Halloween Guardian is the most Halloween like BL show there is, deals with demons, zombies, ghosts, etc Mysteries about aliens, humans and supernatural deities. And a painful romance that has amazing chemistry, acting and story behind it. Go watch it just for the fun cases the characters have to investigate each episode connected to the supernatural stuff. Or go read the book and see what it was meant to be like.
Thailand
Red wine in the Dark night
Ratings: 3.5/5
Genre/Themes: Psychology, Thriller, Horror, R rated, Tragedy, Vampire
Country: Thailand
Verdict: My first movie introducing me to Fluke and his incredible acting. But like this movie messed me up, I went into it like nice vampire/cute boy romance and halfway through I was like wtf?? It's incredible and dark to see this movie and for Halloween scary enough to contemplate and analyse so yeh a great spooky watch with shady, flawed characters traumatised to make choices to be with love. Watch it for Fluke.
Blue Hour
Ratings: 4/5
Genre/Themes: Psychology, Thriller, Horror, R rated, Ghosts, Mystery
Country: Thailand
Verdict: This is another messed up movie with an amazing cast. Both Oab and Gun are like so great in this, and they are my ghost ship. This movie starts of like a romantic with drama BL movie, about like falling in love and meeting the right person and then it just gets twisted and starts to be horrifying. Again has a lot of shady, dark characters who do things that are just so unexpected. It will scare you well and Gun's performance as a winner. But we already know this about him. Go watch Gifted and Gifted Graduation (also spooky in my opinion for Halloween)
My dream
Ratings: 3/5
Genre/Themes: Supernatural, Fantasy, Romance, Drama
Country: Thailand
Verdict: Okay only adding this on the list because of its supernatural genre but I actually don't remember what this is about. All I can remember is the main love story is between Runway and his lover who he sees in his dreams due to a mysterious dream catcher given to him by his family to protect him. Yeh this is fantasy so good for halloween but it's actually not my favourite show, I remember disliking a lot of things about it apart from the second lead couple so yeh Meh. But for Halloween you can squeeze a watch and try and see if you like it.
Until We Meet Again
Ratings: 4.2/5
Genre/Themes: Reincarnation, Rebirth, Suicide, Drama, Death, Romance, Mystery, Happy ending
Country: Thailand
Verdict: Can’t believe I almost forgot about this, But this is a great thai BL series, one of the best ones actually if you’re okay with slow paced storyline but with depth, and interesting plot. I love all the couples on this show and it kept me on my toes with anxiety and worry about how it was going to end. Go watch this for Fluke again, as he is so amazing at his role of Pharm. Everyone else on this cast is also my favorite. Reasons for Halloween, this deals with the psychological trauama of death and suicde, and also deals with the consequences of reincarnation. Because of this the psychological breakdown and reveal of Pharm’s connection to Inn, is ver scary, worrying and frightful as you go deeper the story. We’re not sure where this will lead, but we know as an audience that it sure isn’t going to be a nice reunion with Inn and Korn whenever the latter finds the truth about why they’re dead. Yeh towards the last three episodes it’s almost close to being a thriller, so much angst, drama and pain and fear for our character’s lives, will make this a scary but not scary Halloween watch for sure.
Greater man academy
Ratings: 5/5
Genre/Themes: Gender bender, Fantasy, Unicorns Romance, Competitive all-boys school, Happy ending, Plot twists
Country: Thailand
Verdict: Can I just praise how genius this series is. Because no one else doing so it's understandable it's hard to find the subs because Nadao refuses to release it on its platform. Either way seeing Nadao mentioned as the producers makes you know this is incredible. From acting, to story telling, to directing, to dynamics, to the romance. I am in awe of greater man academy and I will never stop speaking about how I wish more BLs was like this. Add she's the man (the movie or twelfth night by Shakespeare) and BL tropes to this and you get greater man academy, Except this show is different, 3 dimensional characters that will take your breath away from the amount of plot twists written for their characters, romances that will keep you on your toes with anticipation and mystery and the suprising fact that this ends up as a BL when it didn't need to is what shocks me still to this day. Go watch it I don't want to spoil anything else. Just watch it. For Halloween we have magical unicorns with wish granting abilities, ghosts and other fantasy themes in the academy for the great men.
He's coming to me
Ratings: 4.5/5
Genre/Themes: Ghosts, Mystery,Slice of Life, Romance, Comedy, Happy ending
Country: Thailand
Verdict: I've already talked about this show on here as well. But again just go watch it, it's incredible a bit slow paced but it's worth it. I just want more shows like He's coming to me, the whole supernatural world building was fantastic, the mystery, the plot, the love story between our main guy who sees ghost and his ghost best friend, and him learning to embrace his identity and sexuality. Brilliant. Also again Ohm Pawat is in this so are you shocked and Singto as well who is amazing.
The Shipper
Ratings: 4/5
Genre/Themes: Death, Gender bender, Mystery,, Tragedy, Comedy, Romance
Country: Thailand
Verdict: Didn't know if I should add this here but there is a heavy supernatural theme to it, and it does have BL despite the fact that could be questioned but I love Way and Kim, and I think the actors are great and the plot is actually good for most of it, there are some issues with the show but honestly if the ending was better It would be a favourite of mine in 2020. Sigh. Halloween there's death, and the lore surrounding death and mystery about why it and how the circumstances our main character is happened, and it keeps you on your toes. Ohm Pawat that's it another reason and First and Fluke were incredible in this. Girl actresses were also good. And it's directed and written by the writer of the girl from nowehere, so that's another positive. (Must watch for Halloween if you haven't yet not BL)
Other recommendations: Bite fight, Niyamruk, Ghost boyfriend, Ghost Roomamate, Fanatic Love.War of Highschool
That;s the list I’ve compiled. Probably missing like other spooky ones because I’m a wimp and horror aint my thing, Romance is. So here you have some shows mixing the two in a non squeamish way for me. What about you guys how’s your Halloween season and planning going? Have fun!

saint. || soobin (2.6)🌪
🖤┊𝔰𝔞𝔦𝔫𝔱 . ೄྀ࿐
𝖕𝖆𝖎𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖌: 𝖘𝖔𝖔𝖇𝖎𝖓 𝖝 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖊𝖗
𝖌𝖊𝖓𝖗𝖊: 𝖘𝖒𝖚𝖙/𝖆𝖚
𝖜𝖔𝖗𝖉 𝖈𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖙; 2k
you panic clutching soobin’s wrists trying to get him to stop. you glare down at him and he’s just looking up at you smirking. your father calls you yet again with his voice becoming louder with each step. you tap soobin and he’s still licking you as if your father wasn’t there. he knocks on your door and you hold your breathe, hoping he’d think you were at study group or something. he calls your name again and soobin loved the way you looked with your eyes rolling back trying not to make any sounds.
you were surprised your father couldn’t hear the wet sounds of soobin’s mouth. he called you about five more times before he gave up, convinced that you were elsewhere. you were still shaking, struggling to hold your breath until you heard the front door close meaning that your father had went back to work. at the sound of the closing door you release a lewd moan that could make soobin cum in his pants. he grips your thigh prying your legs open with his hand still tasting you for all that you were. you were throbbing so hard you knew soobin had to have felt you. you let your fingertips glide through his silky hair. soobin kind of liked when you played with his hair this way.
“ohmygosh ssoobin”. you whine looking down at him. you bite your lips and let your head hang back again. you were a quivering mess in his hands. you felt a strong sense of pleasure shoot through your torso and it made you hold back from his lips. you scooted back a little with gaspy moans escaping your lips.
“what are you doing?”. soobin groans and slides you back down on his tongue. the pleasure built up and you were shaking like there was no tomorrow. you move back again. “I ccan’t take it”. you whine. you hear soobin chuckle lowly beneath you. “It sounds like you’re going to squirt this time, hm?”. you pant with a heaving chest being overwhelmed by his tongue and the unbearable sensations you were feeling. you move back again. “ssquirrt?”. you whine.
soobin pushes you back down again and pins your thighs to mattress paying special attention to your clit now. it only took a couple flicks of his tongue for you to be hit hard with an unsurpassable amount of bliss. your body shakes yet again and soobin is just watching you squirt in amusement. he was proud of himself but he was mostly proud of you for being able to withstand it. when you were finished you couldn’t believe what you’d just done. you laid back on your bed stunned. you felt lips on your cheek making their way to your lips. he pulls away and softly looks at you before snuggling his head into your neck.
“I’m sorry”. he apologizes. “was it too much?”. he asks again. you breathe.
“no that felt amazing I’m--I just wasn’t used to it”.
soobin smirks at you before pinching your cheeks.
“you’re a dirty girl getting ate out while your father was at the door”. he laughs and you smack his hand away. “you kept going when I told you to stop”.
“wait until I tell father benjamin about this one”. soobin chuckles. you panic only a little because you knew he wasn’t serious. “you better not. i already confessed my sins to him and he forgave me”.
soobin grins again, “what are you going to say this time? I’m sorry father benjamin for being such a dirty girl i won’t do it again”. he seductively mocks and you laugh in disbelief. “you really think I talk to him sexy like that? he’s a priest for god’s sake soobin”. “hey I don’t know how you speak to him. you could have a priest kink too”. he joked. “that’s a thing?”. soobin shakes his head laughing, “no you freak”.
you and soobin lay in silence for a moment until you felt the need to speak.
“this is weird. is this what couples do after sex? they just lay here?”. you ask honestly curious. soobin laughs. “we didn’t have sex”.
“well is it normal to lay here after cumming?”. you ask again. “yeah you’re supposed to get a bit sleepy. are you sleepy? did i wear you out that much?”. you roll your eyes at him and laugh. “whatever soobin. i’m hungry though. I think my parents went on a date tonight. they’re usually home by now”.
“hm. when we get married will you still go on dates with me?”. he questions looking up at you. you tried hard to keep yourself from blushing. you instead played with his hair.
“why do you keep mentioning marriage soobin? we’re eighteen”. you mention.
“I want you to myself”.
“I’m right here”.
“for the rest of my life”.
“how do you know if you’ll still be attracted to me by then?”.
“I will. I know I will. that’s why I want to make things official. legally at least”.
“don’t you think you’re rushing? I haven’t even met your parents yet”.
“psh. like they care. just as long as you aren’t a gold digger they can care less about who I marry”.
“I mean....”. you joke as if you actually were. soobin glares up at you and starts laughing.
“it would be an honor to be your sugar daddy”. you grin at the thought.
“well sugar daddy, can you get me a new school skirt and panties? because you just ruined mine”. you joke again and he’s rubbing your tummy for some odd reason. you noticed he was very affectionate whenever he was close to you.
“whatever you want”. he smiles. you urge him to get up though, because you actually did have to change clothes now that your clothes were ruined. soobin sits a pillow over his face to cover his eyes. you thought it was kind of respectful and pointless at the same time, given the fact that he just ate you out but you applaud his modesty.
“come on so I can feed you I know you’re hungry”.
soobin jumps up with excitement not even caring to know if you were dressed yet. you said you didn’t like cooking that much and this was true but that didn’t mean you didn’t necessarily know how to cook. for some reason you felt really pressured to do well with this so you made him the simplest meal you could find which was tacos. It was hard trying to concentrate with soobin staring at the way you swiftly moved around your kitchen. you would call him a creep but you knew he was just admiring you.
he never had someone take care of him before and now it was kind of addicting for him. of course he loved your company but he loved how you treated him like he was an actual human being instead of the animal that his parents saw him as and sex toy like the girls at school saw him.
“hard or soft soobin?”.
“I’m soft right now but you can make me hard if you want to”. he replies snarkily and you turn in his direction laughing while wanting to kill him. “hard please”. he answers quickly knowing what you were thinking. you fed him anyways along with a drink. you figured your parents weren’t going to be hungry when they got back so you decided it was best to save the rest as leftovers.
it was quiet after you gave soobin his food and you were cleaning. you turn to check on him, “you okay?”. you ask, and he was just stuffing his cheeks. “is it good?”. you ask again. he swallows of course with food falling down his shirt. “oh my gosh--what do you want to name our kids?”. you laugh at his reply.
“If you’re going to be cooking for me like this we have to have a family together”. he plots before stuffing his mouth again. you shake your head and continue cleaning. it isn’t like you didn’t want a family with soobin. you actually thought a family is exactly what soobin needed in order to become a better person. just not this young at least. you both had a lot of growing up to do.
soobin was just finishing his food when you heard your parents car engine in the driveway. your eyes enlarged and soobin gives the plate to you. you sat it on the counter, “go out the front”. you whisper. he collects his things from upstairs quickly and jogs down the steps. he kisses you on your cheek before sneaking out while you were trying to look as casual as possible. soobin races into his car and drives off as soon as possible. he didn’t get too far down the street before he got a call from an unknown number. he declined it at first but it was consistent so he answers with hesitance.
“hello? whose this?”.
“soobin? this is yeonjun. where are you right now?”.
“I’m on my way home--you alright? you sound scared”.
“come to mia’s house”.
“mia’s house? why?”.
“just come on”. he said sounding worried, hanging up the phone. soobin’s heart sanked and this is what drove him to get over there as fast as he could. and when he did, boy did he regret it. It was a crime scene. the blaring red and blue lights of cop cars flooded the front lawn and officers were walking in and out of the home. there was an ambulance park on the side, assisting someone who was in the back of it. soobin locked eyes with yeonjun who was standing on the sidewalk watching everything unfold. he gets out of his car and jogs to him,
“what happened?”.
“a house invasion. and I think something happened to mia, again”.
“what do you mean again?”.
“like what happened at the hotel that night. I think the boys invaded her house”.
soobin sits his hands atop of his head, trying to cool down.
“why the hell would they do this shit?”. he asks.
“that’s exactly why I called you over here. those boys hate you now. and they’ll do anything to make this all seem like it was your fault so they can number one, get revenge and number two, not do much time in prison”.
soobin crouches to the ground, palming his face in his hand with waves of stress.
“what the fuck am I going to do?”.

Please tell me about shatterstar's Childhood
oh my god anon okay I’m assuming in context of what I’ve recently posted you want like... my version of events rather than what’s canon but just in case I hope you know that there’s basically zero canon material that actually describes his childhood/young adulthood beyond “I was a warrior born” or whatever the fuck. if you want to know about that idk go on the fucken... marvel wiki page or something
also--I hate that I have to put this out here and I doubt anyone would actually do this but just in case--I have spent like 1 million hours thinking about this because I have brain disorders and it is very close to my heart so please do not A) use this in fics, etc without letting me know/getting my permission in advance or B) reblog this post
anyways. this is a can of worms so I’m going to do a cheeky lil
first we have to get something out of the way: I hate the “shatterstar’s his own grandpa” paradox. I am sorry if this angers people but it makes me mad so I ignore it. the reason it bothers me is because it means alison blaire essentially married her grandson, which is A) weird and B) bad from a genetics perspective.
in my version of canon ‘star IS the biological child of longshot and dazzler but longshot wasn’t cloned using ‘star’s DNA because..... oh god... another whole separate post can be made about this but... in my head, on mojoworld the way genetic engineering works is not really the same as it is here. here genetic engineering generally means taking an existing genome and inserting or deleting genes. this is how they make, for example, animals that glow, or confer pesticide resistance to plants.
but on mojoworld I think the way they genetically engineer is more like... the way we mechanically engineer. like the entire organism is built from the ground up. there’s a master genetic blueprint which is essentially the “minimal genome” required for a functioning humanoid. this was created by study of Earth humans by arize and the other genetic engineers. they can then go in and customize by adding elements to the genome that code for the signals/building blocks that control things like height, strength, hair color, eye color, having hollow bones etc. so in my head longshot was sort of... designed with ‘star as the inspiration, but not directly cloned. that wouldn’t even make sense anyways because A) different hair color and B) LONGSHOT HAS 3 FINGERS ON EACH HAND and shatterstar has 4!! thats NOT HOW CLONES WOULD WORK!!!!
(side note, the concept of a minimal functional genome is a real thing in biology! some scientists have taken a bacterium that already has a small genome and reduced it to the minimum size required for viability. here is a wikipedia article on it and here is the original paper (DOI: 10.1126/science.286.5447.2165) which I can explain in more detail because I took a class on synthetic biology which this technically falls under and I had to read this paper very closely).
fuck I’ve written 4 paragraphs and not even talked about his childhood yet. I am so sorry. anyways. so the way I think they raise the gladiators on mojoworld is they create them in batches of 5 to 10 identical copies of a certain “model”, place each copy in a different “class” with a set of 2-3 mentors/teachers, and train them to fight until they are 13 or 14. until this time the only names they have are the names that identify the “model”--like for shatterstar that would be gaveedra-seven where the model identifier is “gaveedra” and he is (in the lore that I have come up with) the 7th of 8 total.
the reason they create multiples and put them in different classes is each mentor is going to have a slightly different style of teaching which is going to work better for some and worse for others, so it allows them to have more mass production while increasing the chances of creating a truly great champion. it’s classic nature versus nurture--the genetic engineers create your nature, but you don’t end up exactly the same as others of your model. maybe you get an edge, maybe you don’t.
another thing that happens is different mentors believe in different ways of raising the kids in their care. shatterstar specifically was raised in a class where there was absolutely zero emotional development at all and no attachments allowed beyond fighting alliances. that’s not the case in all classes, and it also had the effect of making him somewhat of an outsider even within the other gladiators as he got older.
at 13 or 14--and yes I realize this is very fucked up but dude its fucking mojoworld idk what you expected--they start participating in fights. the first ones aren’t to the death and they’re as teams and they’re not usually televised they’re more like high school sports games that are attended by scouts (here, they’re “sponsors”--I think that’s a canonical term but I honestly can’t remember) and if you get sponsored you leave your class and join a new “team” that’s really just a bunch of people who all have the same sponsorship. this is where things can get interesting because they’ve all been raised with slightly different fighting styles but more importantly, slightly different degrees of Personhood.
also at this point I should mention that by this time, there are usually only 2, maybe 3 of each model left. either they died or were recognized as not having talent so they were sent to eventually fulfill other roles in the network. in ‘star’s case there was just him and gaveedra-five. once you get to the stage where you’re sponsored and you’re actually fighting to the death one of the first people you’ll fight is any remaining members of your model group.
by the time you’re the only one left of your group, you’re also eligible to earn a stage name. this usually happens if you have a particularly epic fight with a lot of viewers, you win and the commentators will typically say something like “Let’s give this crowd a real name to cheer!” and they’ll have a few candidate names and they’ll kind of just pick one. AUGH I actually have this scene written out in story form but its too long so I think I’ll save it.... :)
after you get a name you also get a cool outfit and usually some kind of mark or tattoo that serves as a brand. this brings me to another important point--shatterstar inherited the X-gene from alison and therefore he IS a mutant. his mutation is the swords vibration thing and the glowing eye. the star mark is a tattoo and teleportation is benjamin russell’s mutation (how he fits into all this is... for another post). basically after he got his name the costuming department guys were like “hey your eye glows, you look like the Legendary Warrior of Old, Longshot, we’re gonna pattern your look after him” so they gave him the star tattoo and the outfit that’s literally inverse colors of longshot’s.
also this brings me to another aside: you’re probably wondering “if he’s the biological kid of longshot and alison how are there 8 gaveedras?” when the genetic engineers got a hold on him as a baby they were like Sick! free baby! free genetic material! thats our job done for us! so they cloned him (in the traditional sense) and made 7 copies. this was also to kind of conceal his identity as technically being from outside mojoworld, which would make him stick out and thus be a target. they DID edit out the x-gene in the other gaveedra models though. this wasn’t a problem for ‘star because his mutation didn’t manifest until he was already sponsored.
I think that’s .... pretty much it for macroscopic lore on what it was like to be a kid gladiator on mojoworld. now let me give you some Tidbits of his life specifically:
like I said he was raised in a particularly cold and ruthless class. the mentors that raised him are like well-known by everyone to produce some of the best warriors but also there’s discourse on mojoworld because some people say perfectly emotionless killing machines aren’t as fun to watch. when he was sponsored there were 4-5 others in the same sponsorship and they were like Theres Something Wrong With You LOL
they speak earth languages on mojoworld because they’re imitating the broadcasts they (the spineless ones) used to hear from earth. however, most of the lower-class as well as almost all arena fighters and other television personalities speak cadre or other languages which are native to the planet. the stage names are all vaguely in english, but the gladiators don’t really understand them at first.
shatterstar got his name before he got the glowing eye, and when he learned what stars are, and saw his eye as a little star, he was like wow :) this is Me :) which is why that name is so important to him. it’s also one of the first things that wholly belonged to him.
(you can’t see stars on mojoworld because of light pollution and also because it’s a pocket dimension and there just aren’t that many stars to see)
I hate to bring up the s**ley miniseries but I do think it would be interesting to have him have a sort of ... mentor/first friend, similar to the concept of gringrave but they were NOT in a relationship. it was more like... another kid who was a year or so older than him got a soft spot for him and helped him not be so clueless. she didn’t make as much progress as xforce did, obviously. but they were.... something like friends.
unfortunately she was used by spiral to get shatterstar to murder the first rebel guy who tried to get him out of there. then she got switched sponsors (this can happen) and he had to kill her, and he was like well I will simply never develop any kind of attachment to anyone ever again.
he almost didn’t make it out of the first training session with his sponsorship group (this is semi-canon--there’s a reference when he’s teaching terry to swordfight to almost not surviving the first time he was in a gladiator class or whatever it was).
the closest he ever came to losing was the day he got the name. that’s why the crowds loved it so much.
the double-bladed sword was a gimmick weapon but when he got his mutation they realized it works way better if there’s resonance between two parallel blades so they redesigned it as an actual weapon.
(forgot this but I feel like I should include it) at 17 he escaped the arenas and joined the cadre alliance. two years later he came to earth and joined xforce.
I think that’s going to have to be it for now because it’s literally almost midnight and I have work tomorrow and I did NOT intend to stay up this late but I did. thank you for this opportunity anon :) feel free to ask me any other questions and also I realize a lot of this probably makes no fucking sense and that’s because I am not a writer or anything I’m just a biochemist with brain problems that cause me to obsess over stupid shit

Yep, two kisekae pics in one day. I normally don’t do redesigns (unless it’s for an already existing character but even then that’s rare), but I figured since I already redesigned Johnny and Jillian, why not do the rest of the Test gang?
I did this a while back and this took me three fucking days to make, and most of those days were spent on the outfits and Sissy’s hair (which was an absolute nightmare to create). Probably the worst was Sissy’s hair, since I knew I wanted her to have a mohawk but I never actually made one in Kisekae before, so yeah, that was a lot of frustration, and I would not do it again. Overall, though, I really like how these came out, and I really enjoyed making Susan’s outfit (though, coming up with it was a pain), and I especially love how Mary came out. Hard to say which one is my favorite, but I’d have to say it’s a tie between Susan, Mary, Sissy, Bumper, and Brainfreezer. Honestly, I’m just glad to post these and that these are done.
So, going from left to right and starting with her, Susan Test is pastel goth. I’m not entirely familiar with the pastel goth scene, so coming up with a look for her was hard. So I took some inspiration from these as well as some pictures on the Internet and came up with a decent look for her. Her makeup was the hardest out of all that, especially her lipstick. I really love how she came out too. As for why she decided to rebel, while she wasn’t completely bad, she definitely contributed to Johnny’s situation. She always felt bad afterwards, but she didn’t stop until she noticed Johnny’s eye bags. That was a huge kick in the pants for her and she decided to go easy on him a bit, and not bug him so much, which her sister and parents noticed. She also decided to spend some time out of the lab to get away from Mary, which meant she had a lot of free time now. One day, she saw a pastel goth boy walking around, asked him about his look, and they got to chatting which was how she was introduced to the pastel goth scene. As time went on, she thought about how badly she treated Johnny and contributed to his state, and grew to detest her parents and her sister for their treatment of him. So she decided to try and break away from that shit and began exploring the world of pastel goth as a means of finding her own identity, which is how she got to where she is now. She’s definitely a lot nicer now, and is trying to reign in her anger. She still enjoys science, she just has other interests now, including anime, ceramics, Falling In Reverse, and fanfiction.
Mary Test is I believe grunge goth. Her outfit was another hard one to come up with, because I didn’t have a general idea of what I wanted her to wear. Unlike with Susan, who I wanted to wear a fluffy skirt and knew this beforehand, I didn't really think about what I wanted Mary to wear; all I knew was I wanted her to be some kind of goth. So I took to the Internet for inspiration and came up with a relatively good look for her. I also listened to some 69 Eyes and a bit of Breaking Benjamin as I was working on her, so that helped. If I’m being honest, she actually strikes me more as a nu metaler than a goth. Still though, love how she came out, even if her outfit was a bit of a hassle to come up with.
Sissy is punk. Now Sissy was definitely the hardest to create, mostly because of her hair. While it did help that I knew ahead of time that I wanted her to have a Mohawk, I’ve also never did one in Kisekae before (they do have a Mohawk hair option, it just wasn’t what I wanted for her). So I had to do some digging on DeviantART and the Internet for a reference pic until I found a Mohawk I liked, (it’s not the actual picture I used, but it’s pretty close) and a good Kisekae picture of a character with a Mohawk so I could see what hair pieces to use. Even with that, however, it was still really complicated, and there was a lot of trial and error involved in making the Mohawk like the one in the ref I used. Eventually, after a lot of staring down at the screen and anger and frustration, Sissy’s hair was done, though I would not (and will not) do it again. Her outfit was also a pain, since I wanted to incorporate some of Sissy’s original elements in it so people would recognize her, but not as bad as her hair. I also wanted to give her some sneaker boots, but I didn’t know how to do that in Kisekae, so I turned to this so I would how to make them in the future, but the guy who made the export said they were proprietary, so...yeah. They still look relatively the same though. In the end, I am actually really happy with the end result, so all that frustration wasn’t in vain.
Bumper is power metaler. Believe it or not, he was actually the easiest one to make since power metal fashion is relatively simple. I also went off of this for help. The only hard part was his facial hair. I was originally gonna make Bumper a nu metaler, but then for some reason I decided on power metal. The only downside is he kind of looks like a ginger Skwisgaar Skwigelf. On the other hand, look at that long flowing hair, god it’s glorious. 😩👌 And yes, he did lose weight and hit a growth spurt.
Bling Bling Boy, or Eugene, is classic heavy metaler. I think. He was another easy one to make because I knew ahead of time that I wanted him to have attire similar to Judas Priest or what Rob Halford wears and wore when he was younger. Nothing too complicated, just looked up some pictures of Judas Priest for a better idea and I was good to go. And yes, like Bumper, Bling Bling Boy lost some weight.
Last but not least, Brainfreezer is goth. I knew ahead of time that I wanted him to be goth, and I was originally gonna use his original goth outfit from Johnnycicle, but then I decided to spare myself the migraine and give him a more original look. I decided to go for a more Victorian style goth combined with bits of modern goth to create this, and while I did have a hard time coming up with he outfit, it was still easier than if I had stuck with his original one. I also gave him black to seal the look and a snowflake necklace so people would still recognize him.
In the end, I’m glad these came out well and hopefully you guys like them too.
The sneaker boots used in Sissy’s outfit belong to Meet-The-Real-Me on DeviantART
The jean tear that’s used in Sissy’s outfit belongs to Idessa on DeviantART
The leather jacket that’s used in Bling Bling Boy and Brainfreezer’s outfits belongs to SoullessIceDreamer on DeviantART.

Anniversary Headcanon
Well, because Tumbler is now deciding not to post a gif OR a read-more line when I respond to an ask, I’ll do it this way instead...again... I mean do I report this? No one responded to my last support request (sigh). Anyhow, so Anon asked:
Could you write a head canon for Matt Murdock about what it would be like to celebrate an anniversary with him? (You can include others too if you would like😊)
Oh, fun! Thanks for the request! For this one, I'm running with Matt Murdock, Eric Northman, Helena Bertinelli, Cable (which cracks me up and I hope gets some love haha), Lucifer, and Benjamin Poindexter (Dex).
(If you want to be on the headcanon taglist, lemmie know)
Matt Murdock: When you and Matt started dating, he was trying to put the devil behind him. He wanted to focus on an actual life with you and his firm, Nelson, Murdock, and Page. But his past caught up with him and some nights he tells you he's working on a case, he's really trying to keep the streets safe. One such night is on your anniversary. You had made plans together at one of your favourite restaurants in town and it was there you watched the minutes turn to an hour. But instead of getting annoyed, you were worried, especially when he didn't return your texts. After you stopped by to check on him and no one was at his apartment, your worry exploded and you started texting both Karen and Foggy. When their stories didn't match for when he left the office, you didn't know what to think; you were a swirl of emotion – anger being one. The next day, however...everything changed. Matt invited you over to apologize and let you in on the side of his life he wanted to protect you from. But if you were going to be with him, truly be with him, you needed all the facts. It wasn't easy; you took a few days to think everything over, but when you decided you were all in, that you loved him and would stand by him, he was beyond relieved. Immediately, he took you out for a make-up dinner and spoiled you with flowers and a lovely gift, giving you a wonderful night to celebrate.
Eric Northman: For your anniversary, Eric goes all out. Limo, classy restaurant, extravagant gifts, you name it. On one level you’re surprised because he's not normally so showy, but you also understand he has an image to uphold. Not to say it's entirely for appearances however, as he does believe you deserve the only the best. But you’re happy just to be with him, you don't need anything much less such grandiose gestures. Even so, you happily go along with it all – being with him means you've got to help uphold the same image. As uncomfortable as it makes you sometimes, it's worth it to have him in your life.
Helena Bertinelli: Not having many people she deeply cares for in her life, Helena desperately wants to show how much you mean to her. Along with a beautiful locket, she books dinner at a fancy restaurant in town. But it's...too fancy. As you look through the menu, you realize neither of you knows half of what's listed and honestly you aren't sure if it's in a different language or just stuff you've never heard of before. Things get quiet and awkward until you're about halfway through your first drink. Finally, you crack a joke about trying to read the menu, and it's the first time a flicker of relief breaks through the muted fear that was plastered on Helena's face. Letting out a lengthy sigh, she finally smiles, glad it wasn't just her. When you tell her that you deeply appreciate the gesture, but suggest going to the dive pub by your place instead, she quickly agrees as a soft look of adoration drifts across her features. She fell in love with you all over again.
Cable: You can’t help but follow when Cable storms past you with a bouquet of brightly coloured flowers. As he reaches the kitchen, he roughly tosses them in the garbage bin as he grumbles about Wade. Apparently, Deadpool marked on the calendar that a year ago that day, they had taken down a particularly vicious group of criminals and decided to celebrate. Cable carried on, complaining about Wade’s antics and how he wasn’t even sure why he stuck around to keep dealing with such ridiculousness. When he finally slowed down, you cleared your throat, catching his attention. You can’t keep the amusement from your tone when you remind him that it’s also your anniversary – when he returned from that mission, was when things heated past just being friends and teammates. His face froze, expression unreadable as he stared at you. Grunting, he finally turned around to the garbage, pulling the flowers off the top and gruffly tried to fix the smashed arrangement. Awkwardly, he thrust them at you as he mumbled happy anniversary…
Lucifer: Your first anniversary with the Devil himself was rather surprising. You were expecting something big, maybe at Lux or some posh establishment he had connections with. It's not your style, but you were braced for it because that was most definitely his style. But instead, he invites you to come up to his suite and begins serenading you on the piano as soon as the elevator door open. The scent of amazing food wafts over to you as you make your way in and you see the table dressed up as elegantly as any high-end restaurant with a spread of your favourite food. He is already smiling at the bewildered look that settles on your features as he makes his way over to you with his gift in hand. Because, of course, he can't wait to give you your present, which turns out to be shockingly thoughtful. When you finally ask him what's going on, he admits that while he enjoys being out and making a scene, he enjoys you...just you...even more. Nothing makes him happier than having time with you all to himself.
Benjamin Poindexter: Your first anniversary is spent at your favourite restaurant. Nothing fancy or extravagant, but definitely centred around you. You sit at your usual table – the one that lets you stare out at the street to admire both the beautiful architecture of this neighbourhood and the interesting people that pass. And of course, you have your favourite meal. It's not terribly often that you go to this restaurant, but it is always a treat when you do. The staff is friendly, the view is great, and the food...oh man...the food is so amazing that whenever you have friends come from out of town you insist they come here. So it makes sense that this is where you are for your anniversary because Dex is just happy you're happy. Of course…you don't realize he's there. Sitting a few tables away, he keeps his nose buried in his phone as though he's taking care of business while absently eating his meal. But really, he's quietly appreciating your joy from afar. He is quite pleased that you chose to eat here of all nights – it’s a perfectly fitting place to celebrate the day he first realized how important you were to him.

The fact that no one talks about Monk makes me so, SO sad because this show is amazing and genius for so many reasons.
A long list of reasons why I adore this show so damn much.
The show is centered around a man (guy with the super curly hair) with OCD who also has a shit ton of phobias (heights, germs, death, naked people, milk—and those aren’t in order btw he has a list) and the writers treat it with so much respect. Yes, his condition is sometimes used for jokes, but it’s not used to make people with OCD or phobias a joke. Like, they’ll put Monk in a dangerous situation where he’s about to be killed (for instance, held up at gunpoint in a car dealership), but he can’t help himself and has to fix a flaw that’s bothering him (literally takes his time to fix a peeling sticker on a car and uses the butt of the villain’s gun to push out air bubbles). That shit is funny, but it in no way makes fun of people with OCD. Plus, this boy is a genius and I love him.
OTHER MAIN CHARACTERS DONT MAKE FUN OF HIM FOR HIS CONDITION. Yes, they get irritated, but they never berate him for his condition and usually let him fix what’s bothering him unless they’re in a serious situation. (One time, Monk accidentally stepped on an unraveled roll of bubble wrap and popped a few bubbles and he had to pop the rest. His friend Leland [blonde w/ a mustache] started to help him pop them and ordered two other officers to help—and they were at a crime scene lmao) They actually usually help him??? Monk has a phobia of people being naked and in one episode someone was killed on a nude beach. They tried so hard to keep him distracted and focused on the dead body so he wouldn’t notice 😂
There’s multiple instances where he’s shown to overcome or brave his phobias to save his friends when they’re in trouble.
They also normalize seeing a therapist who often encourages Monk to try new things and advises him on what’s healthy for him and what isn’t and NEVER berates him for his issues or for relapses. (I can really relate to when they speak of Monk’s depression. They handle that stuff really well.)
Contains the best romance story I have ever seen????? Which is a big deal for me to say because I HATE romance. Monk used to be on the police force but was kicked out on psychological discharge after his wife passed and his condition worsened. So, this is a bittersweet romance, obviously, because his wife has passed, but holy shit is he in love. The way he speaks of her is so beautiful. She was his life. Years keep passing and he still wears his wedding ring and he stills thinks of himself as being married. Like, oh my god you guys don’t understand how much I love his love for Trudy. This show makes me bawl my eyes out when Trudy is involved. He’s dedicated the rest of his life to find out who killed Trudy. Believe me, when Monk is angry and it’s about his wife, he’s not to be messed with.
The dynamic Monk has with his assistants (Sharona was season 1-half of 3. Natalie was half of 3-8) is so great. They get annoyed with him and put up with his cheap, stubborn ass but love the shit out of him. These two women by themselves are amazing, too. Sharona was a divorced, single mother raising her son Benjamin (who Monk stated many times he was proud of and loved him like he was his own son), and was nursing—which is how she met Monk, being hired by Leland to take care of him after Trudy died. Her past is a bit dicey, bringing up how she used to pose for dirty pictures among other things—and it’s all treated with respect. Not once is she mocked for doing what she had to so she could take care of her son. Natalie is also a single mother to Julie, and unlike Sharona she isn’t devorced, but the widow of a Navy pilot. Despite having the same essential role in the show they made their personalities and characteristics very different from one another, except they both complain about Monk being cheap and not paying them enough lmao.
Monk and his assistant(s) have a normal ass relationship without any romantic possibility and zero awareness of their sexes. Natalie hugs, cuddles, and kisses Monk (as often as she’s able to catched him off his guard) and it’s shown simply as a wonderful friendship. Monk protects her (and Sharona), buys her flowers, and fed her cake, but they’re still shown as friends. I adore this for so many reasons. Monk is still deathly in love with his wife. Of course he can get a crush or two (which he does) but lasting any longer than an episode would be odd and uncomfortable for Monk’s character. Not to mention they don’t fit each other’s tastes at all. And how often are male and female relationships presented in media without it being romantic or turning romantic? Chicks and dudes can be friends, guys, it’s not a big deal.
LELAND 👏🏻 AND 👏🏻 MONK’S 👏🏻 RELATIONSHIP 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 MY 👏🏻 LIFE 👏🏻 Those two have a super long history. They’ve known each other since Monk graduated college and fuck their relationship just gets better and better. Leland knows more about Monk than anyone else, except for Trudy, naturally. He was Monk’s partner while on the force. He was there when Monk got the call about Trudy. Leland hired Sharona to help Monk get back on his feet. Leland has ON MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS threaten to resign (he’s the captain of the homicide division btw) if the higher ups tried to get rid of Monk or installed a highering freeze which would keep Monk from getting back on the force. Monk is always willing to help Leland. Monk was his best man and was PROUD AF. Monk also freaked tf out and rushed to help Leland when he was shot. Like, I could go on and on about their relationship. Leland is the ONLY person that gets away with touching Monk. Usually Monk flinches or eveades or wipes his hands when people touch him or shake his hand, but he doesn’t really do that with Leland. He’s really comfortable with him. Their friendship means so much to me.
They never pulled the “no homo” shit. Leland has told others and told Monk to his face many times that he loves him. No “as a friend” or making a joke out of him saying those words. They let his character be a normal fucking person who can tell his best friend he loves him. Randy (the other guy in the picture) tells both Monk and Leland that he loves them and still no jokes are made about it, even while Randy is usually comic relief.
This show is honestly just so damn good. I seriously cannot remember a single, bad episode. I highly recommend taking a look into Monk because it’s such a great story, and the finale will butcher you and you’ll end up saying “thank you” I promise.

13 things I learned after watching Miss Americana💙
1. Taylor is the cutest person in the world and I will always love and protect her no matter what😍🥺
2. Just because it looks like your life is perfect aka you’re Taylor Alison Swift she is still human and goes through heartbreaking and terrible things in life.
3. Stop living for approval from others. I’m such a people pleaser and always try to live for people’s approval and that is not a healthy way of living. We just need to live for ourselves and what makes us happy. We also shouldn’t care about impressing or proving ourselves to anyone but the people who mean the most to us.
4. You always have to stand up for your beliefs and what you believe is right. Seeing Taylor speak up about politics makes me so happy, she’s using her fame for good. She had people telling her to stay out of it but just by watching the film and seeing how emotional she got you can tell this is very important to her. No matter what you just need to focus on your beliefs and continue fighting. I love Only The Young because the young is the future of our country and we can stand up and fight for our beliefs💙
5. Taylor my role model and friend has suffered and been through some of the same things I’ve been through. Taylor talking about how fucking impossible the standards of beauty are is very relatable. Everyone is beautiful no matter what size they are. I’m so proud of her.
6. Seeing Taylor cry broke my heart. Hearing the person who I’ve spent half of my life loving and supporting crying because she says people have fallen out of love with her killed me. I will never stop loving and cheering her on.😭💔
7. Watching that moment when the man who should not be named ruined my baby’s moment just brought me back to watching it the first time on tv and tears filled my eyes. I still don’t understand what kind of sick person would do that to a 17 year old girl! Hearing her say she thought people were booing me KILLED me! I never want Taylor to feel anything but love and happiness.
8. Taylor being brave and raw and talking about her sexual assault case was very moving and powerful. No one will ever understand what she went through. I’m so fucking proud of her.
9. Taylor saying she’s so happy makes my heart so happy! Seeing her so in love and genuinely happy is the best thing ever, because she deserves all of the happiness in the world. The CIWYW video melted my heart she’s so in love and it’s what she deserves. She found her one true love and Prince Charming who loves her for her. Seeing her run off stage and straight into his arms was so sweet! She feels safe and at home with him. I love them together and wish them all of the love and happiness.
10. CATS- seeing Benjamin, Olivia, and Meredith be the stars of the show was the best thing ever. The itty bitty kitty committee is purrfect. My favorite cat pat was either Olivia in the backpack just wondering around or her sitting at the table eating dinner with Abigail and Taylor like she owns the place, because we all know she does.😹😻
11. One of my favorite parts of the documentary is seeing Taylor do what she loves best and creating music. I loved seeing behind the scenes in the studio. You just see how talented she is. She really comes up with the lyrics on the spot. I‘ve said it before and I’ll say it forever Taylor Alison Swift is a lyrical genius! Seeing the songs start out how they did and then seeing them come together and listen to them now is incredible! I will never get over seeing ME! come to life👏🏼🎉🥰🦄
12. Andrea Swift is the star of the show! This woman is the sweetest and most genuine woman I have ever met as well as her daughter. Seeing her in this film made me so happy. You can tell that she is Taylor’s number one fan! I remember meeting her at the secret session and her being the sweetest lady ever and giving me the biggest hug and saying she was glad to see me. Also fun fact I fed Kitty a chicken nugget at the secret session, she’s such a sweetheart. The part where they talked about her cancer hit me hard. My dad passed away from cancer 3 years ago and it was the worst thing I have ever had to go through and don’t wish that on anyone. Hearing Taylor day the “c word” and imagining what their family is going through breaks my heart. Andrea and her family are so strong and I hate that they are going through this terrible and difficult time. I’m sending good thoughts, positive vibes, and prayers to the Swift family🙏🏼💗✨
13. I have a few favorite quotes from this film but my favorite and the one I probably relate to the most is “I want to have a sharp pen, and a thin skin, and an open heart” this quote is so relatable because you CAN have all of those things. I just love this woman more than she will ever know and cannot be more proud of her!😘
this documentary is a masterpiece and I LOVE it! Thank you for being so real and open and sharing your life with us. You and Lana did a phenomenal job so thank you for this and just for being a part of my life for so many years. I honestly don’t know where I would be without you and your music. I’m so proud of you and I love and miss you so much @taylorswift 💘

The one I have been waiting for (Part Two of Two)
Ben Solo is the recently assigned editor for Rey Johnson’s book about star-crossed lovers in space when the world is turned upside down and stay home orders are issued. Ben and Rey begin working together over Zoom and their relationship grows.
Or, an and they were zoomates fic.
Based on this Tumblr post.
Fandom: Star Wars
Pairing: Rey/Ben Solo (Reylo)
Chapter One
Note: And here’s the rest! I hope you guys enjoy this. I had a ton of fun writing it and playing with these characters and this situation.
@andyouweremine is 100% to blame for the last Zoom scene, which was not a part of the plan and she talked me into it after I told her the story was done. You know. Like the best kind of friend.
Read below or on AO3.
Rey Johnson: Hi Ben, I was wondering if you are busy?
Rey Johnson: This has nothing to do with the book or my writing. I've actually written a ton. Talking to you really helped yesterday.
Rey Johnson: I was going to try to come up with some excuse to start talking to you. But honestly I'm just lonely. All of my friends have someone else that they are quarantined with so I feel like I might be bothering them at this point. And I really hate to be that person, but I just was hoping we could talk about something?
Rey Johnson: oh god okay you haven't said anything and I'm really sorry if this was inappropriate please let's pretend this conversation never happened.
Ben: I'd love to just talk.
Ben: You waited less than a minute before trying to revoke that offer, by the way.
Ben: I think it takes my brain longer than that to even think of a response let alone type one.
Rey Johnson: You seem to be doing just fine now 😜
Rey Johnson: And thank you. I didn't realize how much I needed human contact before all of this.
Ben: I understand.
Rey Johnson: So, I'm ordering groceries to be delivered and they have a limit on cup of noodles now? And does it make me a bad person if I order the maximum quantity at different stores?
Rey Johnson: That sounds bad. I'm not a bad person I swear. I just, I really never learned to cook growing up and it hasn't been a priority in my adult life.
Rey Johnson: Don't hate me. I swear I'm not the kind of person who would buy more than I need in a pandemic.
Ben: I don't think that makes you a bad person. I am, however, very concerned that ramen is the primary component to your daily nutrition.
Rey Johnson: I'm not a total animal. I mix in veggies and occasionally I'll even add in real meat.
Ben: I could send you recipes? Easy ones. My mom is demanding my family attend these weekly virtual dinner parties.
Ben: And one of her requirements is that we all make the same meal. So, she's been bombarding my uncles and me with easy recipes.
Ben: Plus this way if you need help, I can help you.
Rey Johnson: I would love that. Send them over.
Rey Johnson: Thanks Ben.
----
Ben hadn’t expected Rey’s accent. If he was being entirely honest with himself, Ben hadn’t expected Rey to be anything like she was.
Her laugh was light and had to be earned, which he appreciated. Her hazel eyes seemed to brighten when she was arguing with him about Kira and Kylo’s connection and, especially, when she bit down on her lip to stop herself from interrupting him. He wondered how much of her personality was lost to a screen and what it would be like to see her in person.
She was beautiful.
Not that he should necessarily be having these kinds of thoughts about her. He had read through the entire HR policy handbook the night after their first video call and it wasn’t explicitly forbidden for writers and editors to see each other. The policy just required full disclosure at the start of a relationship.
He also recognized that two video calls and a few messages was hardly enough to warrant such research. There was a more than very real chance that Rey would want absolutely nothing to do with him socially. She wouldn’t be the first.
He glanced down at his phone, and the messages from Rey, and smiled.
But he hoped that maybe she would.
Ben went to his computer, pulling up his work email and searching for the messages between Leia, Luke and Chewie. He was only able to find the first thread, which only had one recipe that was decidedly not an easy one to follow. What had followed Leia’s first message was around thirty replies between the three of them about how Leia couldn’t expect either Luke or Chewie to know how to cook beef wellington on a few days’ notice.
To be fair, Ben was a fairly decent cook, and he wasn’t entirely sure he could pull off beef wellington.
He had been so sure though that his mom had said she was going to send other recipes for them to choose from. He can almost clearly see something about how she’d send over a recipe for mac and cheese if they’d just calm down about it.
But looking through his email now, he can’t actually find any of those recipes.
---
Ben: Hey mom. I was planning on making my grocery delivery order soon and I can’t find any of the recipes you sent over?
Mom: Your uncles haven’t picked a final recipe yet. I believe they are currently still lobbying that we all just buy the same Hamburger Helper meal kit and call it a day. I have sent dozens of recipes to choose from and this is what they are stuck on.
Mom: I think even Luke can manage to make tacos.
Ben: What recipes? I can only find the beef wellington recipe.
Ben: Which, really?
Mom: What else are they doing while staying at home? They both have plenty of time to learn to cook one recipe.
Ben: Luke works from home outside of the stay home order. So, I would imagine he has just as much time as before.
Mom: Are you really defending your uncle to me right now Benjamin?
Ben: So, where are those other recipes? I can’t find them.
Mom: I removed you from the email chain. I know you get sick of hearing us all bicker. I figured I’d just send you the final recipe once we get a consensus.
Ben: Oh. Could you send them to me anyways?
Mom: They are basic recipes Ben. For things like tacos and spaghetti. You could write better recipes than what I am sending out.
Ben: Still. I should have them.
Mom: Why?
Ben: Why can’t you just send them to me?
Mom: If you are looking for easy recipes Ben, you know how to perform an internet search. I’ve seen you do it.
Ben: You are being impossible.
Mom: I’ll send them.
Ben: Thank you.
Mom: If you tell me why you want them.
Ben: This is ridiculous. I’ll just “perform an internet search.” Thanks Mom.
Mom: Oh come on Ben. Something is up. You wouldn’t be acting so weird if there wasn’t a reason you want these recipes.
Ben: Fine.
Ben: I’ve been talking to Rey Johnson.
Mom: Oh really? How is her book coming along?
Ben: Great. Really great actually.
Mom: Does she need recipe ideas for her book?
Ben: What? No.
Ben: We’ve been talking about non work related things and she mentioned not knowing how to cook.
Ben: So, I figured I’d send over some of the easier recipes I assumed you’d been sending Luke and Chewie.
Mom: You’ve been talking about non work related things?
Ben: Yes. Is that okay?
Mom: That’s more than okay.
Mom: I could just send the recipes directly to her if you’d like.
Ben: I can send them to her.
Mom: It’s just as easy for me to do it Ben.
Ben: Mom.
Mom: Should I reach out to Amilyn for HR purposes?
Ben: You are impossible.
----
Ben: Dad. Can you please have mom forward me the recipes she’s been sending to Luke and Chewie.
Ben: Without asking any questions.
Ben: I really would appreciate it.
Dad: Sure thing, kid.
----
“Hey, what’s up?” Ben asked as he answered the incoming video call on his cell phone from Rey.
He took in his messy hair, and the plain black t-shirt he was wearing, and realized that maybe he shouldn’t have been so quick to answer.
She looked amazing.
Her hair was up in three separate buns. The tank top that she was wearing was thin and he could see the outline of her black bra underneath the thin fabric.
The image on his phone quickly shifted as she changed the camera view so that he was staring at a box of groceries on her doorstep.
Oh.
“Ben. What is all of this?” Rey asked and he isn’t sure if she is amused or annoyed and he really wished that he could see her.
“The ingredients to the recipes I’m about to send you.” Ben responded with a small shrug. “I wasn’t able to get them to you before you placed your grocery order. And I really couldn’t stomach you only eating ramen for the next week.”
“Ben,” Rey sighed, and suddenly she was back on his screen shaking her head. “You could have just sent the recipes and I could have made another order.”
“Sure,” Ben grinned. “Or I could have done just what I did.”
“At least let me pay you back.”
“No need,” Ben waved his hand in front of the screen. “Honestly, Rey.”
“I don’t even know what to do with half of these,” Rey admitted, holding up a bell pepper. “Am I going to blind myself if I accidently rub my eyes while cutting one of these?”
Ben laughed, running his hand through his hair while he shook his head. “Maybe let’s just start by putting everything away and deciding what we are making tonight.”
“We?” Rey asked, a small smile spreading on her face.
“If you want?” Ben offered, tapping a finger against his counter. “I figured we could make dinner together. I’m pretty sure I can walk you through all of these recipes.”
“Yeah. That sounds nice.”
----
Ben: Is it okay if I text you about book things? Or would you prefer an email or a scheduled video call?
Rey Johnson: A scheduled video call? Ben. We literally stopped talking an hour ago.
Ben: I just want to make sure you are okay with it.
Rey Johnson: It’s fine.
Rey Johnson: What’s up?
Ben: I read through what you sent this morning. And I wanted to point out that I noticed.
Rey Johnson: Noticed what?
Ben: That you haven’t finished the scene about whether or not Kira takes Kylo’s hand and are writing ambiguous future scenes that could work either way.
Rey Johnson: No idea what you are talking about. 😇
Ben: Sure you don’t.
Rey Johnson: New number. Who is this?
----
Rey stretched her legs down toward the end of her bed, switching the arm that is holding her phone up so she can stretch her arm out as well. She rolled to her side, setting her phone down on her nightstand, leaned up against the lamp.
“We already watched three episodes of Witcher today Ben,” Rey pointed out, stifling a yawn. “It’s my turn for show choices.”
“You don’t look like you’re going to be up much longer,” Ben pointed out.
“I’m fine,” Rey mumbled, fighting against the heaviness of her eyes. “You’re just saying that so you can get out of watching the next episode of Legacies.”
It had been the same conversation between the two of them, more or less, for the last few weeks. Rey mostly wrote in the mornings and she and Ben had a few early afternoon meetings a week on what she was working on and the progress she had made.
They argue about whether or not Kira is going to take Kylo's hand.
Outside of those meetings though, most of their conversations never returned to work. Which was something since they spent most of their days talking to one another.
In the evenings they made dinner together and talked about what they were going to do once the world finally opened back up. Ben was keeping a list of their ideas. Rey liked imagining that they would go through the list together.
Neither of them ever brought it up, but Rey hoped that Ben imagined it too.
Ben caved on the binge watching two weeks after the stay home order was in place. Initially Rey had joked that he should try Tiger King or Too Hot to Handle. They downloaded the programs to sync their computers and watched the first episode of Too Hot to Handle together. Watching Ben’s face through the first ten minutes was worth all of her own feelings of embarrassment.
Ben’s ears did turn pink when he blushed. Something that Rey really wanted to see in person.
She was thankful for Ben. Without him she knew that her quarantine quality of life would have been severely diminished, but she wanted to actually see him.
“Hey Ben,” Rey started, squirming around in her bed until she was under her blanket. “When the stay home order finally gets lifted, I would… I really want to see you.”
“Of course,” Ben answered, and Rey grinned at how quickly he responded. “We have a list of things we are going to do.”
“Together.” Rey confirmed, closing her eyes. “A list of things to go do together.”
Ben telling her good night is the last thing Rey hears before falling asleep.
----
Dad: Your mom wants you to invite Rey to virtual dinner on Saturday.
Dad: I get the idea that she isn’t going to take no as an answer.
Ben: Can you distract her long enough for me to change my phone number?
Dad: Just invite her, Ben.
Ben: Okay. Fine.
----
Mom: I’d love for you to invite Rey to dinner on Saturday. Your uncles would like to meet her.
Ben: Why would they want to meet her Mom? I haven’t talked about her with them.
Mom: I’ve talked to them.
Ben: Mom.
Mom: Your uncles decided on lasagna. I’ll send you the recipe.
Ben: I’ll ask her, but I’m not sure that she’ll want to attend.
Mom: I’m sure you can convince her. 😉
Ben: I’m never talking to you again.
----
"You got big plans this weekend?" Rey asked, teasing him. "Should I be jealous you have other people to hang out with. I thought you loved watching Legacies with me."
"I love spending time with you," Ben corrected, a slight blush coating his cheeks. "I could give or take Legacies."
Rey laughed, her face wrinkling and her mouth open wide.
Ben smiled in return without thought. It was strange to him, how easy it was to smile when he talked with her.
"Actually," Ben started, reaching a hand up to scratch at his neck. "My mom invited you to Saturday dinner."
"Oh," Rey said, looking away from the screen. "Really?"
"Yes," Ben confirmed. "I would say no pressure, but my mom doesn't really take no for an answer."
Rey gave him a small, tight smile. "I would be honored to attend."
Ben sighed in relief. "We are making lasagna. I'll send you the recipe."
"I can't wait," Rey said. "Hopefully I won't do anything to embarrass you."
"Nothing," Ben promised, "Nothing you could do would be embarrassing."
"My family," he continued, shaking his head. "I apologize now. I would understand if you never talked to me again."
"Never," Rey responded immediately. "You're the only thing keeping me sane."
“I feel the same way.”
“You do?" Rey asked, her eyes slightly widening. “Here I was thinking you are just being nice.”
“I’m not nice,” Ben offered, shrugging his shoulders. “You can ask just about anyone that knows me. It’s not what I am known for.”
“I find that hard to believe. You’ve been nothing but nice to me.”
Ben doesn’t know what to say in response, glancing away from his phone. “So I’ll call you at two on Saturday? The dinner starts at six.”
“It’s a date,” Rey blushed, but smiled at him. “I can’t wait.”
----
New Group Chat Created
Ben: I talked with Rey and she will be there this Saturday.
Ben: Please, please, please, do not do or say anything that would embarrass me.
Ben: This means no baby pictures, mom.
Chewie: I’m hurt that you would think so little of me.
Uncle Luke: Honestly Ben. How little do you think of us?
Ben: Do you really want me to answer that?
Dad: No.
Mom: But Benjamin, you were such a cute baby with those ears and your hair.
Ben: Mom.
Dad: Leia.
Dad: Let the kid be.
Uncle Luke: There is that cute picture of him naked and playing in the sprinkler that I always thought was going to be a future hit.
Ben: I’m univitating her.
----
Rey threw another shirt onto the growing pile on her bed. She huffed, closing her eyes as she tried to imagine the perfect outfit to wear when attending a video dinner with her crushes entire family.
Her crush.
God, she felt like she was fifteen.
Crush wasn’t even the right word to describe what she felt toward Ben. She wasn’t sure what the right word would be.
She wished she knew where they stood. Logically, she knew that it was a conversation that they should have, one that was needed at this point. But she didn’t want to ruin whatever they had by trying to figure out what was going on with them.
He was there for her. Every day. Without fail. He called her. He texted her. He sent her stupid quarantine memes and videos to make her laugh.
He kept a list of post quarantine activities for them.
She was almost positive that he was on the same page as her. That they were heading toward… something.
She hoped there were at least.
She pulled up Poe’s contact information, hitting the video call button.
“Hey Rey,” Poe responded, a bright grin on his face. “Also, wow, you are naked.”
“I’m not naked,” Rey rolled her eyes. “I’m in my bra.”
“Practically naked,” Poe amended. “What’s going on?”
“Don’t laugh,” Rey began, “But Ben? My editor? I’m going to be attending a… virtual dinner with his parents and uncles.”
“Ben, your editor?” Poe mocked, laughing. “Rey, you can just say your boyfriend.”
“He’s not my boyfriend.”
“You guys make dinner and are binge watching two different shows,” Poe pointed out. “You are in a relationship.”
“We aren’t… we haven’t, we haven’t talked about anything like that.”
“Okay,” Poe conceded, holding his hands up in mock defeat. “I’ll leave it for now. What’s the problem?”
“I have no idea what to wear,” Rey admitted, switching the camera mode to show him the pile of clothes tossed on her bed.
“Oh, wow.” Poe shook his head. “Babe. You just need to stop overthinking this.”
“I just want to make a good impression.” Rey bit down on her bottom lip. “I want to look nice, but not too nice for a virtual dinner.”
“I truly think sweatpants and a t-shirt would be appropriate for a virtual dinner.”
“You once told me that sweatpants were the first sign of a girl giving in to being alone forever.”
“Yeah, well, that was before quarantine.”
“Poe,” Rey exaggerated his name, holding onto the vowels for seconds. “Please just help me.”
“Jeans. And what about that yellow top you wore last time you went out with me and Finn?”
Rey nodded, walking over to her closet to pull out the yellow, flowy tank top she wore that night. “This one?”
“That one,” Poe confirmed. “It’s perfect. I think it captures your personality.”
“That’s ridiculous, but okay. Thank you.”
“I expect to be your maid of honor in your future wedding for this.”
“Poe!” Rey shook her head in amusement.
“Love you! Bye!”
----
“Hi,” Ben said. “You changed.”
“So did you,” Rey noted, nodding at the screen.
Ben looked down at the button down shirt he had changed into. “You look nice.”
Rey smiled shyly. “Thank you.”
“My family can be,” Ben paused, trying to think of the right words. “A bit much.”
“Ben,” Rey shook her head. “It’s going to be fine.”
“Just promise me if my mom actually starts trying to show you baby pictures of me that you’ll look away.”
“I can make no such promise,” Rey laughed. “I’m sure you were a cute baby though.”
“I really wasn’t,” Ben sighed. “I am still waiting to grow into my ears.”
“I like your ears.”
Ben glanced down, happy that his hair was currently covering his ears. “I was just thinking that if you wanted a code word, you know, to end the call, now is the time to come up with one.”
“Ben,” Rey laughed his name. “It’s going to be fine. I’m going to love everyone. I’m more worried that they are going to hate me.”
“That’s just… that’s not possible.”
Rey rolled her eyes. “I think you might be a little biased at this point.”
“Maybe,” Ben admitted. “But I also know my family. Trust me. It isn’t possible.”
-----
Ben watched as Rey started laughing again, her smile wide and open as she tilted her head back. He could hear Luke and Han chuckling in the background, but he had pinned Rey’s frame as soon as they had merged into the dinner video call.
He had been right, of course, his family loved Rey. It probably should scare Ben at how easily Rey fit in with them. Easily picking up on their different personalities and slightly shifting and overplaying aspects of her personality to win them over.
He wished that she believed that she didn't need to change anything for them to love her. But it made him happy watching her try so hard to impress them. A part of him was still in denial and was convinced that Rey was putting in that kind of effort for reasons that didn't involve him at all.
But a bigger part of him knew that Rey wanted to fit in with them because she wanted to be with him. They hadn't talked about it, but Ben hoped that she knew that he wanted to be with her.
He needed the stay home order lifted so that he could take her to one of the many locations on their post-quarantine adventure list. Once he was allowed to leave his apartment for non-emergent reasons nothing was going to keep him away from her.
He had already found himself halfway out the door ready to go over to her apartment numerous times over the last few weeks. If the order wasn't lifted soon, he wasn't sure how much longer he could wait.
He wanted to actually hold her while they watched Legacies. He wanted to be able to reach out and take her hand and show her the correct way to cut bell peppers.
He wanted to discover and know all of the little things that she did that were lost over a computer screen.
"Ben?" Leia asked, snapping her fingers in front of the screen. "Maybe you can stop thinking about Rey long enough to join the conversation again?"
"What?" Ben sputtered, hoping that his face wasn't as red as it felt. But judging from the way his mom was laughing and Chewie was grinning at him, he was positive that it was. "Did you say something? I had a… work email that distracted me."
“A work email?” Leia asked, fake innocence dripping from her voice, “Is it important? Should I hop on and read it as well?”
“I was just saying,” Han started, placing his hand on Leia’s shoulder. “That this has been nice and that we hope Rey can make it to one of our weekly dinners once we are allowed to meet in person again.”
“Maybe even two,” Chewie added.
“Or three,” Luke finished.
“The lasagna was great, Leia,” Rey said, pulling Ben’s attention back to the screen. “And honestly so easy to make. I think I could have pulled this one off without Ben’s help.”
“Oh really?” Ben asked, raising his eyebrows. “Those are brave words coming from the girl who once asked if she was going to go blind while cutting bell peppers.”
Rey stuck her tongue out at him. “That was weeks ago. How many meals have we made since then? I’m practically a chef at this point. Maybe I’ll quit writing and open up a restaurant once quarantine ends.”
Ben snorted. “Literally anything to avoid writing a certain scene.”
“That’s not--”
“How is the book coming?” Leia interrupted, an amused grin on her face.
Actually, Ben noted, every single one of his family members had an amused smile on their face.
“Really well,’ Rey responded. “Ben has been a great editor. Even if we disagree on a pivotal scene.”
“She just doesn’t like to admit that I am right.”
“I have no problem admitting that you are right, when you are actually right,” Rey teased, taking a sip from her wine glass. “You still haven’t convinced me.”
"Maybe we should go over the list of reasons that I've given you already again tonight," Ben suggested. "I know you had your heart set on finishing up Legacies tonight, but this might be more important."
"Nothing is more important than finishing Legacies," Rey argued. "Besides you promised we would finish Legacies since we finished Witcher first. You going back on your promises now Ben?"
"Oh, Ben never breaks his promises," Leia said, and Ben glanced down at the bottom of his screen. He had forgotten for a minute that he was blatantly flirting with Rey in front of his parents and uncles. The knowing look on Leia and Han's face was insufferable, and somehow worse than the amused expressions on Luke and Chewie's face.
Ben really wasn't looking forward to reading whatever messages were waiting for him in the group chat he created between all of them. He had pushed his phone as far away from him as possible when Luke and Chewie wouldn't stop going on about how nice it was to finally meet Ben's girlfriend and how pretty she really was.
At this point, Ben might only ever willingly talk to his dad ever again. He at least tried to get everyone to leave him alone.
He had never regretted creating a group more.
"Where are you at in Legacies?" Luke asked. "I haven't started it yet, but if I have to stay home much longer, I might start. A lot of my students have been talking about it."
Ben smiled as he watched the animated way Rey responded to his uncle while they discussed the show.
He wanted to see her. Stay home order be damned, he was going to see her.
----
Chewie: Rey is absolutely wonderful Ben.
Uncle Luke: You should ask her out soon, a girl like that won't be single for long.
Dad: Luke.
Uncle Luke: What? 🤷🏼♂️ Someone needs to be honest with him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ben look that awestruck at a person before.
Dad: Did Leia ask you to take over harping at him so Ben would stop ignoring her calls?
Uncle Luke: I’m certain I have no idea what you are talking about.
Mom: I would never do anything like that.
Dad: Leia.
Mom: But I would appreciate it if my son would pick up the phone every now and then.
Ben: I’m blocking everyone but Dad.
---
Ben: I have a crazy idea. And you can absolutely, definitely say no if it makes you uncomfortable in any way.
Ben: Also, I am now realizing how sexual that sounded and I am regretting this already.
Ben: I should have thought my words through more there.
Ben: We can just ignore this entirely.
Rey Johnson: Ben. Stop.
Rey Johnson: Maybe I wouldn’t turn down a crazy sexual idea.
Rey Johnson: You’ll have no idea if you keep shooting yourself down before I can even respond.
Ben: Okay.
Rey Johnson: So, what’s this crazy idea? And just how sexual is it?
Ben: It’s not.
Ben: Sexual.
Ben: It might be crazy.
Ben: I really wish I could take back this conversation.
Rey Johnson: I really wish we could be having this conversation face to face.
Ben: … that’s my idea.
Ben: I haven’t left my house in well over fourteen days. I don’t think you have either?
Ben: And I have a car. So if I wear a mask, and go straight to my car, and straight to your apartment. I mean. The risk is low, right?
Ben: I could also bring clothes, and I could just take a shower when I get there, to lower the risk even more?
Rey Johnson: I thought you said this wasn’t sexual?
Ben: I didn’t mean it like that.
Ben: I meant a very perfunctory decontamination shower.
Rey Johnson: I’m teasing you Ben.
Rey Johnson: Come over.
Rey Johnson: We’ll talk about the perfunctoriness of your future shower in person.
Rey Johnson: [address sent]
---
Kneeling down on the floor, Rey placed another book on her bookshelf, adjusting the snow globe on the edge of the shelf again. She had been keeping herself busy with cleaning since she had sent Ben her address, just waiting for him to arrive. The fact that Ben had proposed it as an idea made her heart swell. She had almost asked him a dozen times over the last few weeks, but each time she managed to talk herself out of it at the last minute.
She was nervous. Rey blamed the wine for how bold she had been in the messages she had sent to him. Now that she was waiting though, with nothing but her own thoughts, Rey was worried that it was too much, too soon. While Rey was fairly confident that Ben asking to come over was a good sign, a sign that she wasn't alone in her attraction, it was hard for her to focus on that and not on the constant intruding thoughts that she was going to be left alone again.
Ben had been the best part of her days and nights for weeks, and she was scared that he might be disappointed when he saw her. Or that he might decide that her appeal wasn't the same in person. Rey didn't want to lose him.
Not for the first time since the stay home order had been in place, Rey wished she could schedule a therapy appointment with her counselor. A childhood of being left behind and unwanted had left many scars and shadows in her brain.
Ben had been nothing but kind to her. He flirted with her, he laughed with her, he spent hours on video calls with her walking her through how to make meals that Rey was pretty convinced idiots could handle making without any help. He was patient and good.
A part of her knew that meeting him in person wasn't going to change anything for the worse, she just needed to remind herself that she deserved good things and good people.
And Ben Solo was a good person. Even if he argued with her over that fact with stories and worries about who he was at his last job, some awful publishing company that took advantage of writers with shady contracts.
Mistakes didn't define a person's entire character though. And Rey knew all the work he had done to try to make the situation right. He was the reason for the multimillion dollar lawsuit against the company and he was still meeting with lawyers remotely to help bolster the plaintiffs' cases.
A knock on the door pulled her attention from her thoughts. Standing up, Rey brushed her hands down the colorful leggings and pulled down on the large, baggy black tank top she had changed into after dinner. Briefly, Rey considered running back into her bedroom and finding something more appealing to throw on, but then Ben knocked on the door again and Rey remembered that this is the same guy who told her she looked beautiful after she fell asleep during a call and woke up with drool dried to the side of her mouth.
"Hi," Rey greeted him, as she pulled open her front door.
He was tall and broad, which Rey already knew, but seeing him in person put it in a different perspective. Rey fought against her first instinct to step into the hallway to hug him, her fingers tightening on the door knob still in her hand.
"Hi," Ben responded and his voice was so much deeper in person. Rey couldn't see his smile because of the black mask that covered half of his face, but she knew that he was smiling with the way his eyes crinkled in the corners. "Can I come in?"
Without a word Rey stepped back to let him in. "You're really here," she said after Ben shut the door. She couldn't stop smiling at him. He held up the duffel bag in his hand as a question.
Rey laughed, taking the bag from him and setting it down behind the couch. "I thought you were kidding about the decontamination shower."
"The perfunctory decontamination shower," Ben corrected, reaching up to take off his mask. He was smiling as he sat the mask down on the table.
And oh, Rey had thought he was gorgeous on her computer screen, but seeing him smile in person, nothing was going to beat that. Her computer screen would never be enough again.
"I figured I'd bring clothes just in case," Ben continued, removing his leather gloves. "Whatever it takes for you to be comfortable with me being here. If you want to me to shower, I can do that. Change my clothes? I can definitely do that. If you've got a bottle of Lysol and you'd like to spray me--"
"Ben," Rey interrupted, taking a step closer to him. "I think I'd really like it if you'd just kiss me already."
Ben stopped talking and looked at her. Rey shifted her weight under his stare, waiting for him to say or do anything. The longer he was silent the more embarrassed she grew.
She was about to apologize when Ben finally moved toward her and kissed her. The kiss was chaste and slow at first, Ben still closing the distance between their bodies. He placed his hands on her waist, which were warm and large as they slid down her sides.
Rey opened her mouth, deepening the kiss as she pressed herself up to wrap her arms around his neck. She ran her hands through his dark, wavy hair, enjoying the softness of the strands as they fell through her fingers. Ben hummed his appreciation against her lips.
Ben pulled away first, breathing heavily as he rested his forehead against hers. "Hi," he breathed, a wide smile on his face.
"Hi," Rey grinned back at him. "I'm really glad you came."
"Me too," Ben agreed, placing a kiss on her nose and then her forehead before he stood up straight and pulled her into his chest. "I can't believe you're really here."
"Me either," Rey said, taking a deep breath in an attempt to commit the smell of Ben to her memory. Placing a kiss against his chest, Rey lowered her arms from Ben's neck and wrapped them around his waist. "You smell nice. No shower needed."
"I'm glad," Ben laughed, his chest rumbling under her ear. Rey loved the way it sounded. "I guess I didn't need the extra set of clothes."
Ben moved his hands off of Rey to pull off his glove. He tossed it on to the table, before running his hands down her back.
"I suppose that depends on what the plan is." Rey said, her voice light and airy. "I could think of a few options where having extra clothes might be beneficial."
"Oh?" Ben questioned. "Want to share these plans?"
"Well, obviously we have some episodes of Legacies to watch."
"Obviously," Ben snorted, shaking his head. "I do have this theory that I'll enjoy the show much more when I'm holding you and can pay more attention to you than the show."
Rey blushed. "Maybe if you paid more attention to the show instead of thinking up these theories you'd be enjoying it more."
"I don't know. I quite enjoy thinking up those theories," Ben pressed a kiss into her hair. "And after Legacies?"
"Dessert. Maybe a game."
"And then?"
"And then in the morning," Rey said, pulling back from Ben slightly until she could glance up at him, tapping her fingers against his spine to try to dispel some of the nerves building up in her stomach. "In the morning, I was thinking maybe you could teach me how to make waffles."
"Waffles? What about pancakes?" Ben teased, brushing a piece of hair behind Rey's ear.
"Sure," Rey shrugged. "Or pancakes. If you stay, I won't be picky. I just, I want you to stay."
"I'll stay."
-----
“Ben,” Rey giggled as Ben moved his lips down her neck. “Ben. It’s 6:00.”
“I know.”
“It’s time for dinner with your family.”
“I know,” Ben repeated, placing a kiss on her shoulder.
“You are distracting me,” Rey complained. “Nothing is ready.”
“The food is ready,” Ben mummered, pointing at the enchiladas that were cooling on her counter. “I’m dressed. You’re dressed. What more needs to be done?”
Rey spun around, pressing her back against the counter. “Ben. It’s 6:00. And you’re still here.”
Ben’s eyes widened slightly as he realized the problem. “I have my laptop. We can just set me up in a different room.”
“You don’t think they are going to notice that the apartment you are in isn’t your apartment?”
Ben was silent, thinking through their problem. “I’ll use one of those zoom backgrounds.”
“You hate them.”
“Yes.” Ben nodded. “Yes, I do.”
“We can just tell them.”
“We could,” Ben conceded. “But then the entire dinner is going to be us listening to my family ask extremely embarrassing and personal questions and I just… I don’t--”
Rey interrupted him with a kiss, smiling against his lips when she pulled away.
“Go get set up in my room. I’ll bring the food in,” Rey walked over to the deep fryer, blowing on a still-too-hot tortilla chip before popping it in her mouth.
Ben had insisted on making homemade tortilla chips. Which really didn’t surprise her.
“We could also skip dinner,” Ben offered, following behind her. He lowered his head down to place a kiss just below her ear, before whispering, “We could have sex instead.”
“Ben,” Rey whined, setting her hands on top of his.
“Really, really good sex.”
“Go pick a background babe,” Rey said, shaking her head in amusement. She opened the cabinet above her, pulling down two plates. “We’re all ready.”
“Fine,” Ben grumbled. Rey turned her head to give him one last kiss before he walked away to her room.
Dinner was going fine. Better than fine really. Luke and Chewie had spent the first half an hour making fun of Ben’s background, an image of the city at night. Ben had taken the teasing with a smile, saying that he had wanted to try something new.
The enchiladas were great and the tortilla chips Ben had made were amazing. The wine Ben had picked out for the dinner went well. Han and Rey were talking about cars and Rey was enjoying watching Ben pretend to be annoyed at the focus of the conversation being on Han’s other child.
No one seemed to be aware that Rey and Ben were in the same apartment, and Rey felt a rush of satisfaction come over her for getting away with it.
Then Rey dropped her wine glass, spilling the liquid down the front of her shirt. The glass broke on the edge of the table and when Rey went to pick it up, she felt the burn of the cut along her thumb.
“Fuck,” Rey shouted, sticking her thumb in her mouth without thought.
“Are you okay?” Leia asked, a look of concern on her face.
“I’m fine,” Rey responded, blushing. “I’m just a bit of a klutz.”
Rey didn’t even notice that Ben was no longer on her screen until he was in front of her, setting down the first aid kid from her bathroom on the table next to her computer.
“Are you okay?” He asked, pulling at her hand to look at the cut. He inspected the cut with precision that the small cut didn’t warrant.
“Ben, I’m fine,” Rey lifted her non-injured hand up to cup his chin and force him to look at her. “It’s no worse than a papercut. It’s not even really bleeding.”
“Still,” Ben glanced over at the first aid kit, opening it up and pulling out the small bottle of hydrogen peroxide. “You’ll let me clean it. And put a band-aid on it.”
“Sure babe,” Rey laughed. “As long as you admit that you’re doing this for you, and not for me.”
Ben didn’t say anything, he poured a small amount of the hydrogen peroxide on her finger, blowing on it as the chemical bubbled slightly along the cut.
“Um,” Luke’s voice pulled Rey’s attention back to her computer. Han, Leia, Luke and Chewie were all staring at her and Ben. Rey had never seen such a big smile as the one on Leia’s face. Han smirked, as if he had known the entire time.
“Anything you two want to share with the class?” Luke asked.
Ben didn’t look away from Rey’s finger as he carefully wrapped the band-aid around the cut. “I’m at Rey’s apartment. Obviously.”
“And that’s why you had that ridiculous background?” Leia asked. “You didn’t want to just tell us that you were at Rey’s?”
“I was hoping to avoid this entire conversation,” Ben admitted, lifting Rey’s finger up to inspect the bandage. He placed a gentle kiss over the band-aid before gently placing her hand back in her lap.
“I didn’t think you were supposed to be going around to be other people’s houses during stay home orders,” Chewie teased.
“Violating the Governor’s directives to get a girlfriend? I guess he is your son after all, Han,” Luke said with a laugh.
Ben blushed and Rey leaned forward to kiss his cheek. “I need to go change my shirt,” Rey said, smiling at the camera. “I think I’ll need Ben’s help. You know, since I’m injured. So we’ll see you guys next week!”
“The ‘barely a papercut’ injury?” Leia teased.
"Better safe than sorry!” Rey exclaimed. She gave them all a tiny wave goodbye before exiting the meeting.
The screen had barely closed out before Ben’s phone started lighting up with text messages.
“Maybe you should mute the group chat,” Rey said, laughing at some of the messages as the preview popped up on his screen.
“Probably a good idea.”
“Thanks for coming to my rescue,” Rey said, sliding her hands around his neck to pull him in for a kiss.
“Always,” he whispered against her lips.
“Now, you were saying something earlier about really, really good sex?”
-----
Rey grinned as Ben squeezed her hand, pulling her into the ice cream shop with them. The stay home order was finally lifted and restaurants were opening, and even if new, additional social distancing requirements came along, the ability to be standing in an actual ice cream shop with Ben was worth all of it.
Even if they had to make reservations to go get ice cream. It was a new normal, and one she was more than willing to make adjustments for.
Ben’s smile was infectious as he looked down at the ice cream flavors in the bins at the back of the room.
“I think,” Ben said, glancing up to the man behind the counter, “I would love a waffle cone with strawberry ice cream.”
“How many scoops?”
“Three.”
Rey snorted, shaking her head. “Three? Ben, that’s more sugar than I’ve ever seen you eat combined. You’re going to go into a sugar coma.”
“I imagine you’re eating at least half of it.”
Rey bit down on her bottom lip, leaning up to kiss Ben’s cheek. “You think you know me?”
“I know that I know you.”
“Oh yeah?” Rey raised an eyebrow. “Order for me then. Since you know me so well.”
“She’ll take a waffle cone with three scoops of…” Ben paused, taking one more look at all of the flavors. “Candy lovers delight.”
Rey pouted. He would pick the one she had been ready to order.
“That’s not fair,” Rey argued as Ben paid for the ice cream. “You weren’t supposed to guess right.”
“I didn’t guess,” Ben told her, pulling out a chair at one of the small circle tables for Rey. “I just know you.”
Rey sat down, reaching into her bag, while Ben sat down across from her. She ran a finger across the journal that she had shoved in just before leaving her apartment. She had been debating when would be the best time to give it to him.
She pulled the journal out, sliding it across the table.
"What's that?" Ben asked, picking the journal up with his free hand.
Rey squeezed his other hand. "You'll see."
Ben opened the journal, quickly reading through the pages. He smiled at Rey when he sat the journal back down, his mouth open wide as he chuckled.
She had finished the scene weeks ago, but had been keeping it to herself. Arguing with Ben over the scene had been the highlight of many of her days stuck in her apartment. She didn't want to admit to him that he had convinced her relatively early into their talks.
The scene where Kira finally took Kylo’s hand.
"It's perfect," Ben said, leaning forward to kiss her. "Absolutely perfect."
