Just because she's a mind reader, why can't she also be a child and have a safe childhood with a stable support system.

I love this gay ass show with its literally life ending injuries that heal immediately, but only when convenient to the plot, and its ridiculous use of modern phrases, and its laughing in the face of historical accuracy, and its kissing the face of the fans instead of trying to outwit them, and the way everyone involved in the show seem to go 'I KNOW RIGHT! I'M EXCITED TOO!' instead of mocking the fans

#i have so many feelings #i can't quite express the way everyone involved seems to want us to love the show #like when you love something so you show it to a friend and vibrate with excitement while you watch them love it #so that you can scream about it together #it feels like djenks and the writers and the cast and the crew are in on the joke *with* us #which contrasts so sharply to the way so many fandoms find themselves to *be* the joke #the joke being how much we love the show #the fact that everyone involved cares *so much* about the show is really obvious #not just this is a fun show but this is a *meaningful* show #i truly have never felt so much like i have a community as i have with this show and the fans of it #it is also one of the only shows i can think of (maybe some of neil gaiman's adaptations?) where the trademark over analysing and meta #and theories of the fans isn't ridiculed #this ties back into the being in on the joke thing #back when we didn't know blackbonnet was going to be *canon* canon #and djenks reaction to us freaking out that we were RIGHT was basically #well yeah?#i want to write a love letter to everyone but i don't know how #ofmd #mine #our flag means death #david jenkins #ofmd s2 #ofmd 2 #kissing david jenkins on the mouth

I love miraculous ladybug. Not ironically, not spitefully. I legitimately just think it’s a good show. I think it’s hilarious and genuinely fun and I always have a good time watching it. It brings a smile to my face and gets my synapses firing like not many other things can. I love seeing the characters go on wacky little episode-long adventures. I think the characters are extremely consistently written, where every episode I see them do something and think “oh my god, they so would do that”. I think their motivations and personalities make sense. I think the chemistry and dynamics between the characters are absolutely impeccable. I like watching them develop over time. I believe they have developed over time. I like the episodic format. I actually enjoy the slow, gradual plot, where characters can kind of just exist and have a bunch of different little mini-adventures where we get to see how the characters would react to all different kinds of situations without it all needing to be huge earth-shattering, plot-changing stuff. Sometimes that’s nice. It’s not for everyone, but I still think it’s good. I love it. I enjoy it. It’s my comfort show.

“Phil,” Kristin said gently, “we have to do this”

He was still in awe of seeing her. Seeing her like this, in a physical body, so small, so fragile. But this was Her. He could see it when he looked into Her eyes. They held the knowledge of the starts in them. He would always trust Her. He knew she was right.

She tugged down on her hat, “it’s going to be okay.” He had to smile a bit, watching the black veil fall over Her face. Of course She managed to still keep Her hat and all its decorations intact, even in this form. She stepped forward, and was swallowed by the vortex of stars.

Peering over the edge, Phil couldn’t help but think the portal looked a lot like Her eyes. At first you think it’s an empty void, but if you look closer, there’s more to it than that. It’s not black, but a deep purple. There isn’t nothingness, but actually small pinpricks of light. Looking into the portal was comforting, in a way.

But even still, he edged back from the vortex. She said they didn’t have a lot of time, and he knew that. He knew She wouldn’t have come here unless it was absolutely necessary. But he wanted to hold back, to delay, to put this off a little longer.

He wanted to hope.

Techno had been gone on this most recent trip of his for months now. And Phil didn’t mind! He tried not to. He missed him, sure. And some days he missed him so bad it hurt. Like an ache in his chest that wouldn’t go away. But it was manageable, because Techno always came back.

Except apparently they were out of time. Something big was coming, something that even She couldn’t protect them from. And maybe Techno already caught wind of it. He’s smart, he’s resourceful. Knowing him, perhaps he heard about it and already started planning. Maybe even sent a note that Phil simply hadn’t received yet.

Phil knew this, he knew his friend. But that didn’t stop him from worrying. He just wanted to know. Just wanted confirmation that Techno was safe. It was selfish of him, he knew, but he desperately wanted to leave a few of his crows behind. So that if Techno came back, they could warn him. Tell him to get out fast.

A few of the crows in question landed on his shoulders and the brim of his hat. They chattered and cooed softly. One of them nibbled on his ear. He brought a finger up to stroke their feathers, not having the heart to reprimand them. He knew this was chats way of comforting him. And it’s not like Phil doesn’t always send crows after Techno, just in case. If something was wrong, one of them would return.

Alas, Phil supposed he had spent enough time stalling. He spared one last glance around the room. There had been a lot of good memories here. Ones he would hold onto for the rest of time. What he wouldn’t give for all of them to be gathered at this table, one last time.

Phil took a deep breath. He had kept them waiting long enough. He closed his eyes, taking a step forward, bracing himself for the free-fall.

Only to jerk back at the sound of a blessedly familiar baritone, “and where do you think you’re going, old man?”

“Techno!” Phil whirled around, his breath catching in his throat at the sight of his longtime friend. He rushed forward, barreling into the piglin and and burying his face into his fur.

“Mate it’s so good to see you,” Phil choked out, trying to shove down the lump in his throat, “I was afraid you weren’t going to make it in time”

Techno hummed, a deep rumble in his chest, “well, the voices were gettin’ pretty loud about some world ending even I had to get back for. They seemed pretty excited about it, so I decided to head back”

Phil laughed, pulling back slightly, “it’s a good thing you’re here. Kristin showed up. Here, at the server. Something big is coming, mate. Something She can’t even protect us from. We have to get out of here.”

“Come on then, old man. It’d be pretty cringe if we didn’t get out in time on account of your sentimentality,” Techno chuffed

Phil squawked, heading back to the table, “oí, sorry I was happy to see you, you brute. It’s your fault for leaving so long”

Techno stepped up to the edge with him, “hmm. Perhaps you have a point. We can talk about it after we survive our third apocalypse.”

Phil chuckled despite himself, peering over the edge again, “come on now Techno, I was really worried you weren’t gonna make it back in time”

Techno looked into the portal, narrowing his eyes a bit, “you won’t be getting rid of me that easily.”

“Besides,” Techno shifted, glancing over at him, “I promised you the world, Philza,” he continued, extending his hand, “I intend to make good on that promise”

“Well mate,” Phil chuckled, gladly taking it in his own, “to hell and back, then”

And they stepped through the portal together

not to code gotham as eastern europe but eastern europe is the gothic literature locus classicus so i'm in full right to do it and it's just such a good parallel because. for westerners/outsiders it looks like a literal nightmare but the locals find comfort and humour in all things that throw the foreigners off. you have to find hope in a place that the others claim to be unlivable. if you give up and leave, it will always stay in your heart like an open wound.

also it just never ceases to amaze me how there are so many similarities between gothic lit & eastern european lit of the period that we would never call 'gothic' because our ghosts and our supernatural elements are not portrayed as the Other most of the time. they're there to bring you closer to your culture and heritage. they are horrors that bring you home and connect you with your people. tell me this is not the perfect approach for gotham.

i think this is also why i hate the portrayal of the city as some unsalvageable monstrosity with no kidness to be found. often places where the circumstances seem the most dire, the cultures that are branded gruesome because of the focus on the dead produce the most loving communities, as they are needed.

#also the whole headcanon that people in gotham don't smile that is a thing in many fanfics #seems so silly but i'll stand behind it because this is how EE is #foreigners just being perpetually stunned at how people don't smile at them but are also the most hospitable folks you will ever meet #but yeah this is the thing you NEED to show the societal mentality in gotham as more collective #also this is why while i can see the appeal i don't really like the concept of jason just leaving gotham and starting a completely new life #without ever feeling like he assassinated a part of himself by never going back #*standing in the corner* they don't understand the depth of the emotional attachment to the fucked up place you come from #gotham is actually something that can be so personal #an extremely niche post #dear followers today i offer meta that caters specifically to ME #gotham #dc comics #batman #gotham love letters

why Cecil and Donald are either besties or gay (an essay)

Fyi I'm only talking about the TV show. They can be platonic homies in the comics - though I am using evidence from both.

⚠️ Spoilers for Invincible, both the show and comics ⚠️

In the Invincible comics, Donald is shown almost entirely as a field agent, doing combat and all that fun stuff. (Note that he knows about his being an android when the series starts). But in the show, he's done primarily intelligence work, only fighting when his life is on the line (spoiler: he dies.)

It's the same in Brit (three oneshots by kirkman and moore, set in the same universe as invincible. Also, a series but I'm not taking abt that rn). Donald is never in active combat unless it's absolutely necessary, or when he thinks Brit can't handle himself. (Spoiler: he can, and Donald gets fucking exploded. Again.)

Only after he learns he's an android in Brit does he start to do field work. And it's really anticlimactic, too, but that's not the point.

In the Invincible comics, it's shown that Cecil was like a top notch field agent before he got super old, and he died from poison gas. He was rebuilt in a similar way to Donald, with the difference being that the director of the GDA at the time was someone else that I'm too lazy to find right now, that Don wasn't a field agent and Cecil was, and that Cecil was told what had happened while Donald was definitely not.

They did a similar thing with Rex, replacing his arm after his old one got torn off, but they never show anything about intelligence operatives being rebuild in the same way.

We can assume from common sense that rebuilding a person takes billions of dollars, and giving them the crazy amount of bionic enhancements that Donald has in Invincible and Brit is probably even more. (His hand can turn into a flip phone, his neck has rockets and/or spider legs, and he shoots webs out his mouth like what the hell Cecil.)

All this to say that Don seems to be a special case. He's not a field agent like the others, and seems to be close with Cecil, as shown by these panels (which also happen to show that Cecil is really bad with spending taxpayer's money, cough cough.)

Okay so it's just one guy offering to drive another home. Shut up.

Anyways, my biggest point has been that Cecil didn't tell Donald about the whole "dying" thing - he had to figure it out himself. Cecil is the type of guy to keep secrets from people to protect them. My evidence: the entire franchise.

Anyways, Cecil was told that he was an android. Why wouldn't he tell Don?

After Cecil realized that the Old GDA Director™ had hired those who'd originally killed him, he was pissed off and shot them both. He then adopted the same practice and hired assholes like Sinclair, despite their objectively terrible actions. So it would make sense that Donald would do something similar if he found out... Except for the fact that in the show, he was killed by Omni-Man, and right now, Cecil is totally convinced he's a bad guy. So that's not the reason.

The only other thing i can think of is that he understands how much of a mindfuck it is and he didn't want Donald going through the same thing. (Spoiler: he does).

Essentially Cecil used billions of tax dollars to bring back a technically replaceable (I hated typing that) agent, and then didn't tell him about it.

Meaning he did it because he missed his bestie.

So. Yeah.

i cant tell you how much i ADORE this first episode of my beautiful man s2. there’s something about the pace of it, especially in hira and kiyoi’s interactions, the quick back and forth, hira saying something, kiyoi catching him out, hira backing down, kiyoi getting mad about that, hira stuttering to try and say the right thing. the way they interact is this seemingly endless cat and mouse going in circles around this big, huge centre thing that is ‘the point’. they both want to convey so much but neither can put the plain and simple words to it, hira is too much and kiyoi is too little. and yet they still have these moments, when they let the plain truth slip, hira saying you’re just too cute, or kiyoi earnestly asking hira not to leave him, it peels back at their true sentiment that’s always being danced around.

and the thing is, if you didnt watch the first season, this relationship could so easily be seen as bad bad really bad, the way they almost bicker and get mad, how kiyoi appears to pick at hira and gets mad so easily, how hira acts more like an avoid stalker than a boyfriend and always seems on edge or off in his head catastrophising. some people still might. i can see how it can be a difficult relationship to digest. its weird, awkward and uncomfortable at times, and almost absent of the usual softness of a bl couple. but thats why i adore it. because i think its so important and interesting to portray a different kind of relationship, even if maybe exaggerated to fit the king and servent original premise that hira still holds onto. bc the thing with these kinds of relationships is it doesnt matter what we think of it, whether we like it or think its ok, its about the people in it. some people are just different, they act differently, and interact differently, and thats ok if its ok for the people involved, and thats what i think the case is for hira and kiyoi. obviously they still have problems, this relationship isnt perfect, and i think this series is gonna show that, but thats also ok. just bc a relationship isnt perfect, doesnt mean it shouldnt exist. there has to be something there in the first place for it to be worked on. and there is. at the core of it all, these two people really really love and care about each other, they just express it differently, and maybe need to learn how to express it in a way that makes it easier and better for the other to feel it. maybe hira needs to let kiyoi off that pedastal, and maybe kiyoi needs to not view his feelings as this weird, gross thing. but that takes time, and i think is truly worth it.

and what makes it work and so thrilling and interesting to watch as a show is that kiyoi and hira somehow both encourage that detrimenal behaviour but are also so incredibly good for each other, and good at challenging that behaviour. hira wants to see kiyoi as a god and kiyoi wants to be loved, so he can be that godly figure. you can see it in this almost entitled way he acts, pushing hira around, even when he just sits down in the rocking chair, above hira, very mch the image of a king and his bowing servent. as someone that was starved of love as a child, he laps that up. but its when his feelings grow for hira that he realises he doesnt want to be some god or king, he just wants plain and simple, human, equal love. so he ends that scene lying on hira’s lap, lower than him, airing his insecurities of being abandoned and asking hira to stay with him, very much that lonely child wanting someone else’s love. not devotion, not sacrifice, just love. and its his feelings for hira that allow him to push hira in a good way, challenge him, bring him out of his shell, which he desperately needs. hira is so stuck in his head that he hasnt reared his head enough to learn how to act like an actual person. so used to blending into the background, he doesnt know how to be his own person and not an object or a piece of the furniture. you see it at the party, that he doesnt know enough small talk words to get through a conversation, let alone actually be himself and interact with others on an equal level. thats why he takes on this servent role, bc he’s never seen himself as enough of a person to be anything else. he can only be made real when characterised by his actions for others. kiyoi’s rejection of these roles means he can challenge hira to step up, to be on his level, and in that find himself. there’s hints, you can see it, in his love of phtography, when he talks about the moon, when he’s around others and even kiyoi and they have these softer moments where it feels like hes breathing and calm instead of stuttering and panting through an interaction and his brain is running a mile a minute. kiyoi has seen it too, and thats why he fell in love with him. ok, maybe he likes his eccentricities too, but he sees a person that he wants to be with, on equal terms, and in that he wants to pull hira up and see him be himself, realise himself as a person, just as much as he has to step down. and they dont explain these things plainly, voice that they want to help each other in this way, but you see it so clearly. its the subtext of this almost other language that they speak together thats full of twisted meanings and hidden intentions, at the heart of it is, like i said before, actual love and care for each other. do they need to get better at it? yes. but do they need to become our idea of a normal relationship to do that? no, absolutely not. after all, hira will always be hira, and kiyoi will always be kiyoi, and if they lost that, they’d lose themselves and their love for each other. so stay weird, stay unconventional, and stay yourselves, my beautiful couple.

I still continue to see criticism of season 2 of OFMD and I just. Find it so funny honestly. Like I get some of it, maybe, kinda. But for the most part I’m like ????? Nah don’t agree. Skill issue. I find it even funnier when people complain about the pacing being too fast because I honestly always felt the first season was too slow with its pacing. So season 2 was actually kinda perfect to me! I’m not the type to complain about what we were given and wish it was different though. I eat up every morsel they allow us to have, and to have jammed in so much content had me in paradise tbh. It is what it is, you know? I accept it all as just what we’ve got. And maybe that’s me just first and foremost loving the show as what it is- Ed and Stede’s story. Everything else is just a cherry on top for me. I’m here to have fun and if it can do that for me, I’m all good. And going into it with that mindset, guess what? I had a GREAT time. I sat down and rewatched the show in one day in its entirety two days after the finale with a friend who had never seen it. They loved it! I loved it, again! Id watch it again already!!! I parry criticisms of the show with great ease- who cares, it was fun, I loved it. That’s what mattered to me! Must suck to feel otherwise! :3 I’m kicking my feet n giggling over this little found family and my favorite boys in love. Teehee. Best show ever.

Watson must've been QUITE put out by stinky chemistry moment and DECIDED to share this with him public. See Holmes, the whole of London now knows that you sit bad. Try and sit DECENTLY (won't say straight because we are not straight at all. expecially not you.)

Well, what to do when doing chemistry?

Why not shocking your husband for a chance?

He's SO mischievous. He wants to play! Confess, Watson, confess!

Note this words. Apparently our good Watson forgot who his Holmes is...

NOW to the explanation. Holmes is enjoying this sooo much

Holmes, why did you inspect the groove between his left forefinger and his thumb? Were you perhaps kissing your Watson's hand?

Masterful explanation! Also, i LOVE the point 5. Watson struggled with hazard games and so on and Holmes helps him with that! The sheer trust and love between them, helping each other with their struggles. I love them.

But now, look for it!

TAAAAC not two mins later!

I swear, Granada Holmes did this part PERFECTLY.

But we DO have a real case! And Holmes passes to his Watson a paper to examine.

And apparently Watson can't make much out of it as well. Oh, this Mr Cubitt is very anxious to know the solution of the problem? Well, time to meet him!

Watson?? Is?? Describing someone?? POLITELY?? He should like this Mr Cubitt! And, i mean, HOW CAN YOU NOT? He's a golden retriever!

And Holmes... be careful to the way you address that paper... because you might find yourself in some days reenacting the figures!

Well, let Mr Cubitt explain now! Why would he ever make much of such prank?

Me? nonono, my wife, i'm so worried for her! -the most in love man of England. Maybe only Watson is at that level.

Back to the story. What happened?

Are all these victorians marrying after knowing a person for two weeks? Holmes is not that surprised, his husband wrote that he proposed to (lol) his wife (lmao) like 4 days after they met! But Mr Cubitt REALLY trusts his Elsie. He's just such a sweetheart, so in love with her... I love them so much. Well, they have been sincere and had an agreement! And it was working! Well, until -dun dun duuun- a letter came.

And she was SCARED.

And stayed so! poor girl! And then came the dancing men

And it was a SERIOUS, faint-worthy thing for Elsie Cubitt! Wanna hug her!

I'm so glad that Watson approves of Mr Cubitt! He's really a nice man!

Well, the interview comes to an end

And Sherlock 'I care about the CASE not about the PEOPLE' Holmes is thinking to the 'case' very much. He's worried.

Two weeks later Mr Cubitt pays a second visit and Holmes asks his Watson to stay with him for the interview. Because he needs his support doctor.

Mr Cubitt is worried as hell. He discovered something!

SAW THE MAN WHO WAS DRAWING THEM? Oh damn.

Oh and brought many more messages!

Holmes... HOLMES PLEASE. Where have you put your tact? -sigh-

And Elsie koala-held him out of harm's way, apparently. Mr Cubitt now gives Holmes all the drawings. And a new one, one that appeared on the morning after this fact.

And that took the liberty to try and translate! Because yes! It already appears to be a code!

Mr Cubitt WOULD also have a plan to deal with this guy...

And i can't really find fault in it... but i guess Holmes' right.

Gotta be careful with this stuff.
