May i offer some mer au during these trying times?

SO- i've been rambling a whole lot with @thedemonsurfer and @basilbots about an au where Eclipse 3.0 is a fisherman who rescues a mer Ruin after being caught by poachers (more info under the cut!)

So like my runaways au this is set in the main fnaf verse instead of the sams one. Eclipse was a dca model that got decommissioned but reactivated to be sold as a work robot so a lot of his memory is very janky.

He was bought and made to work for a shady fishing company (borderline pirates) where the boat he is on catches a roughed up little mer with a crooked tail and missing fins. Eclipse is made to guard the mer whom he sort of befriends over time and once they reach the shipping warehouse he has a change of heart when he realises this fish is sentient (and shaking hands in trapped and alone)

He sets Ruin free (burning down the company in the process) and finds a new home and life working as a free robot for a smaller but more legit fishing business in an out of the way fishing town. However Ruin turns up at his new home some months later and- they were roommates!

I have a few oneshots drafted and planned for this already! Butters (demonsurfer) already wrote a oneshot for it which you can read here! (Please go read it it gives me so much soul sustenance)

A trend in Astarion fics that I find bizarre is the idea that he's never been treated gently during sex. This is difficult to believe for one simple reason: some of Astarion's victims were virgins.

Astarion: You were handsome. Shy. You'd never been kissed. Sebastian: You taught me how. And then you destroyed me.

I get the desire to make his current partner special by having their sex be good and wholesome in comparison to his other trysts, but this is a flawed sentiment. The cutscene of that first night together is incredibly tender from the kiss to laying on the grass - the only outlier being if you offer your neck - and if you sleep with Astarion but keep it at that night, Astarion himself says he will never forget you. Not because the PC was uniquely gentle with him in bed, but because they were the first person he ever slept with of his own free will. It's his choice that makes that night special to him moreso than anything the PC may or may not have done during that time.

this entitlement buffy's friends have about insight into her sex life is so fucking creepy.

like hey i get sharing that kind of stuff with your close friends, my bestie and i definitely talk details. but buffy's friends act like it's their god given right to know everything, the instant anything happens. and are angry at her when she doesn't divulge the intimate details of her sex life and private feelings.

not only is that so disrespectful of buffy's privacy, but it is also not consensual of the other person. maybe they don't want all their intimate moments aired out to buffy's friends, her kid sister, and watcher. (and of course the main example i'm think of is spike, so in the case of consent from the other party the scoobies simply don't. care. because he's just a thing not a person.)

but idk i think it is so icky to have your friends (one of which is a guy obviously harboring some sort of claim or feelings for you), your father figure and your kid sister know about who you're suckin' and fuckin'.

this show is always so weird about how they frame sex, and particularly buffy's sex life as viewed by the other main characters. something i've always noticed when watching btvs is how much terms like "slut" and "ho" are thrown around. as if having sex and enjoying it is the worst, most disgusting crime ever. especially (and actually pretty much only) when it's buffy.

and that's how buffy views herself and how her friends do too. and i hate that message. it's so twisted and fucked up. but ig that's what you get when a misogynist writes a "female empowering" show. though some concepts are groundbreaking, everything is undernoted with the most insidious views of female sexuality, power, and value.

the only reason buffy as a character isn't consumed by this bullshit is because smg is fucking awesome and you can tell she put every influence and creative control she could over buffy and her characterization.

After watching yesterday's SAMS episode, its become more clear that no matter who grills Ruin, they're just going to get the same answers. Whether he's suspicious or not, he really does stick to his story.

Was it really necessary for Moon to interrogate Ruin though? I understand he doesn't trust Ruin, but like Sun was with New Moon, he's refusing to look past the fact that Ruin is not (hopefully) the same person he was with the virus. Ruin has proved he just wants to be trusted and be friends and maybe being suspicious is just something he can't really help. The way Moon treats him just really pisses me off. Moon treat Ruin like he would anyone else challenge.

If Ruin really does turn out to be innocent, Moon has a damn good apology to make and honestly, I don't really want Ruin to accept it right away. Whether or not Ruin made Eclipse, he's still helping capture him and is getting nothing but shit for it

I’m tired of Moon’s paranoia with Ruin at this point. It is a tired as fuck plotline that I’m just done with.

I’m at the point of ‘yeah, let him destroy his trust with others. See what it gets him. NOTHING.’ Because that’s how you lose friends. Accusing people of things they very clearly didn’t do is how you fuck up a perfectly good friendship.

I hope all this paranoia bullshit blows up in Moon’s face and Ruin refuses to accept an apology from him if Ruin turns out innocent.

me trying to come up with literally ANY type of explanation to the aous ending that wouldnt mean what it most obviously means because i am so devastated

#ive seen some people say it kind of ruins the film for them #and in a sense i can see how the ending could go different ways as well #but. idk to me it just served like the final gut punch #also??? idk if this is mental but to me another possibility is that harry couldve done it the night adam went to show him his parents house #thats actually how i sort of interpreted it whilst i was in the cinema #but maybe thats also because i didnt want to accept the common interpretation. its too much #and whether it be that harry also re-experiences his death or adam chooses to embrace his ghost like both are devastating to me #because grief is not easy at all!!!!!! so like to say that adam starts grieving harry then is also just😭😭😭😭sad asfuck #but it could also very well be him sort of reassuring harry like he did his parents. how he tells them both that they went quick even though #his mom didnt. so adam reassuring harry with 'youre not in there' and asking him to go upstairs could be him letting go as well #but no fr there is no way to me that none of that was real.#god i am truly so devastated. i just fucking rewatched aftersun why do i do this to myself #lol anyway!#all of us strangers

BUT TO BE FAIR... I've noticed a few things that should've been a glaring red flag to Ruin still being a little off the rails I guess-

It's a thing we love about them and it makes then unique i guess... but.. but THEIR ACCEPT STAYING THE SAME SHOULD'VE BEEN A GIVEAWAY THE MOMENT THEY CAME BACK ONLINE AFTER REBOOTING

We've HEARD the actuals Ruin Eclipse before on.. very few occasions.. BUT WE HAVE HEARD THEM! (In the episode where Ruin rescued Foxy and the first Interview with Jigsaw) it wasn't for a long time but... the ACTUAL Ruin Eclipse had talked through Ruin on few occasions.

I'm not sure what this one meant. When the video first came out I thought we were hearing Ruin Sun and Moon talking through Ruin who was going on and on about needing to get back to connection and internet..

I mean.. from the Ruin DLC, we know they can probably seperate and talk for themselves?? As seen with Sun who thanked Cassie after being rebooted into Eclipse. (Yes I'm dragging the canon dca into this, Ruin WAS based on that DCA itteration after all..)

And what do we hear when Ruin gets rebooted?

RUIN'S BRITISH ACCENT! I'm probably looking too deep into just how their voice sounded at first vs now... by all means they could've changed their voice over time (as was seen with Puppet). But... I dunno... if they really were just playing everyone a fool this whole time.. I don't think the voice is something we should overlook.

Granted... I believe a lot of things with Ruin may have been retconned or rewritten after the DLC came out. (As canon Eclipse acte nothing like the teams Ruin at the time)

ANYWHO WHY DID I DRAG THIS BEAN OVER HERE YOU ASK? *gestures to RJ AU Ruin Eclipse* well!

Because of a little theory and hc of mine I've slapped onto them! The antivirus DID NOT get rid of the virus as a whole. RJ Ruin Clipsy over here needs to take periodical dosages of the cure to keep the virus at bay and chip away at it to finally be rid of it!

That... that's what I'm gonna hold onto as the reasoning behind how Ruin acts. The actual Eclipse (and even Sun and Moon) is still somewhere in there. As seen in the clips listed above.

an absolute wave of homesickness for Doctor Who (2005) series 1-2 just about knocks me over at the quietest moments of my little life

#it was such a specific time. I was just a kiddo #still living with my parents with a giant bedroom downstairs all to myself #it used to be a hair studio or something for whoever lived there before us. and I had this massive room with a table to draw and write at #and a tiny twin bed and I used to set up a projector against the opposite wall and hook it up to my laptop and watch DW to fall asleep #enthralled. couldn't believe the show I'd found. couldn't believe how much I loved Rose and loved the Doctor #you could not drag me away from it. I could not stop talking about it or thinking about it. Matt Smith had just become the Doctor and I-#-had so much content left to consume. and everything was simple. I didn't have a job at the time and every day was creativity #I used to write so much I'd forget to eat. and Doctor Who was the background music of my life back then #I miss winter nights swearing I'd only watch one more episode before I went to bed. all by myself. my family hadn't discovered the show yet #in that small single bed with four blankets and Doctor Who on the wall. drooling over timepetals and pausing and rewinding constantly #that time of my life was so safe and so secure and my imagination was so hungry and DW was feeding it and it was my first time seeing it #I miss that.
