Hang Up Raphael, I'm gonna get to know him better ♱♡‿♡♰ (Christmas Miracle L-Card PROLOGUE Spoilers I)

Hi hi once again lovelies, it is I your admin <;3 (i really need a name for you all to call me huh) Anyways, We're on to Raphael and I took way too many screencaps for this so I had to like pick and choose which ones I'm gonna use lol there were SO many good moments not to highlight. So just so you know, the beginning of it literally starts the same way as Michael's prologue with Minhyeok making a wish, us seeing his brother yadda ya (hmmm and here I thought it would be slightly different I guess not) And after that we're gonna dive right the fuck in. As per usual this is a two-parter, get yourself a snack and let's gooo ♨(⋆‿⋆)♨

So our MC was invited to Avisos in this story to celebrate x-mas but it's very different from what they're used to. Samba, festival clothing, parades, etc. Avisos be gettin' down I swear. But MC is over here like "the samba has nothing to do with-" Let them party. It's fine. Everyone celebrates differently and the Avisos citizens wanna shake their ass to some feel good music.

Naberius coming in to call them out on their thoughts, here is when I find out he can technically read minds so I'm gonna have to be careful around him...cause does that happen automatically or does he just do that when he feels like it?

I think it's cute he's feeding MC btw, but MC being guilty about what they said makes sense because it's like telling someone when you go over their house you don't like how they do something. Because you could...just wait until you get home or something don't tell me that while you're here lmao

So in this scene Naberius explains that he had the turkey cooked and made just because he knew humans ate two types of meat (really three if you feel) during christmas and wanted to make MC comfortable. It also sounds good as fuck because sauce was dripping down MC's chin.

But Naberius was treating it more like a chore than what a lover would, so this has me headcanon that Naberius is possibly part of the ace (asexual) family! now I'm unsure if he'd be demi, gray, or just full on ace but regardless, he's being cute feeding MC like this.

Meanwhile....

Our troublesome two...it's literally like watching two brothers fight and it's funny to me. Like Amon please don't take Stolas' juice T^T it was literally in his hand when he took it lmao

Also that sounds good too because it was fresh from a fruit bowl....my diet would be terrible in Avisos they eat so much and so many good foods ;.; (my ibs would probably kick my ass too)

So while Amon and Stolas are squabbling, Naberius is just like chiding them as per usual and MC asks where Bael is. He's working (poor bby let him REST) and this is when Naberius says that Amon and Stolas should be working too and only he was asked to look over MC during the festivities and that they usually have to patrol around because things get crazy lol

Stolas ofc is like yeah who the fuck cares we don't get to celebrate anyway so I'm taking this time to do so xD

He also adds that he's usually not outside during this time anyway because ppl annoy him with their happiness. (omfg Stolas is me on most days like why are all you outside? There's too many fucking ppl outside, go back to your own houses while I do grocery shopping then you can come back out)

Amon chimes in that Stolas likes staying in his dark room and how mature that is despite how he looks. Stolas gets really offended and threatens to kill him (that's on brand for our bird bby, he's so adorable)

ANYWAYS what Amon really does like to bring up that Stolas looks so young and honestly it's just like...I can see why he would be irriated about that coming up each time.

Amon ignores him of course and says he wants to make memories with MC (he's so fucking cute omfg) and Naberius whacks him on the head to remind him that he has work to do and he can't just be doing whatever.

AMON YOU CUTIE LOVE YOU <3333333 He's adorable, like I'd hang out with him all day if he wanted me to. (I also can imagine that since he gets flirty in the beel event, he'd probably feel comfortable enough to do a l o t more flirting when it's MC/you with him)

So Naberius brings in some lore about Avisos, bascially stating that they always need to celebrate something and there's no real reason for them to do so. As I stated before, this country loves to fucking party like I swear there was always something going on. He did bring up that he's slightly glad it's chilled out since the war (must of been that bad if a war makes him happy they stopped)

And MC is just like oh do you guys believe in Santa then or no?

And then our sexy sexy Beel boo enters the chat

So naturally all of his nobles are happy to see him, Amon especially and he brought them gifts!!!

He basically brought everyone back souvenirs from the places he's been. That's so thoughtful because he took time to think about what each person would like. This is also something I do when getting gifts for ppl and every day they reveal more about Beel it makes me be like "yup that's why I was paired with him"

Now we get to see what he got MC and oh.....

MC was just saying they were happy that they got to experience some adult items from Hell so they were grateful and would use it well, and while I love that response....

I would be creaming my pants already because I KNOW he bought that with the intention of MC using it with him and you know what....

But the topic of a christmas miracle starts being brought up again and Beel explains that there's always weird things happening in Hell around this time and well...he thinks it's best that you don't question it and just go with the flow

So it seems once again Raphael, just like Michael just fucking crashed into shit without any warning only the funniest thing about Raph is that he was fucking eating the food at the stalls LMAO

So we get some repeat lore about Raph, we got a little bit from the halloween event where it was Ppyong that explained how dangerous he was. And well from reading his comic he's literally as bloodthirsty as his seraph comrades...once he likes to play around and torment folks a bit. And if you're another angel that he does not like for any fucking reason yeah you're in the crossfire too. Raph's hands are rated E for everyone.

Naberius is over here growling and challenging him and Raph with those big balls of his (hehehe) is basically being like yeah you sent for me so don't trip. But that's the thing I don't think anyone particularly called for him...though it does seem like there's a specific angel that likes bothering a specific country. Raph-Avisos, Gabe-Gehenna, and Mike-Tartaros.

And then from here he starts giving critiques on the fucking meat and the customer service of the stalls and I'm like Raph bby.....why are you doing this lmao He's such a true villian because totally coming in and taking the local's food and still not satisfied with it tracks.

Wait, Zhao Yunlan's gun is actually a...?!

(I've never claimed production meta for @guardianbingo before, but after the amount of time and research I put in on this, I feel like I've earned the "Zhao Yunlan's Gun or Whip" square, haha)

SO. GUYS.

Maybe this is something fandom as a whole figured out back in 2018, but I, who didn't hear of Guardian until 2020, did not realize until now and I need to share the knowledge because when I finally noticed, I made an unholy sound.

I've tracked down where Zhao Yunlan's gun came from -- or at least, what it most likely started as. Not the in-universe dark-energy-maybe-uses-bullets-maybe-doesn't-device-that's-best-not-thought-about-too-long, but rather the actual fake-steampunk-revolver-that-is-best-not-looked-at-too-long-because-it's-awful prop.

Y'know, this disaster:

I was actually working on a different Guardian Bingo fill and needed to look something up for continuity, so I'd flipped through a couple of episodes at super high speed trying to find a scene. As luck would have it, one of my skips forward happened to land on the scene I screencapped above, when ZYL confronts Zhang Shi.

Normally we don't get this clear (or this stationary) a shot of the godawful gun prop. I'd assumed all along they had just taken a plastic gun, glued some extra bits and bobs on it to make it look fancy, and hit it with some dry brushing (fun fact: you can watch the paint flake throughout the series; check out the top of the barrel and the side of the cylinder in the above screenshot!) to make it look #steampunk like the abandoned aesthetic of 25% of the show (as I've said before, I have theories about what happened in preproduction, but that's another post). This sort of thing is exactly what I've done for cheap cosplay weapons or background props for film work that aren't going to be seen at HD detail range.

Anyway, since the detail showed up better here than in other shots, I paused the video to look at the random screws and hex bolts (why??) they'd glued on it, since I recalled that I had the aforementioned gun/whip bingo square to fill.

That's when I noticed a detail that had eluded me before: An inverted V shape at the bottom of the grip.

Only looking more closely, that's not an inverted V. It's a symbol that I've seen a whole series of variations of over the past 15+ years... every time there's a new installment of the Assassin's Creed video game series:

So I started hunting. The principal weapons in each game turned up no matches, but eventually I found a gun that looks almost exactly like ZYL's:

It's not a perfect replica, but the details are certainly all there: The stylized logo; the leaves and swirls on the grip; the feathers up the back; even the Victorian scrollwork beneath the barrel.

Now, what's really interesting is that this gun isn't actually from the AC game series. It's part of an elaborate fan project by artist David Paget that started as a class assignment back in 2014. Even though it gathered a bit of steam in the AC fandom and generated a couple of forum role-play groups, OCs and the like, nothing about this artwork was ever connected to a real Assassin's Creed title. So why would there be a physical version of a gun that was only someone's fanart?

This is where the smoking gun (*rimshot*) goes missing, because I can't prove any of this, and it's been long enough that digging through the archives of the internet to find answers is going to take way more time than I can afford to spend on a project I'm not getting paid for. But there are two likely possibilities:

Scenario A: Some employee in a toy factory somewhere in China got told, "This Assassin's Creed franchise is really big, so we need to be producing replicas from those games to sell. Work up some designs." So the employee Googles "assassin's creed gun," finds David Paget's very professional-looking art, and whips up a replica to mass-injection-mold without realizing it's not actually from a game. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and finds a cheap toy revolver on clearance after several years of sitting in storage because there was little demand for a replica of a gun that was never in a game. They buy several, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!

Scenario B: Other fans were involved in the design. Someone did build a 3D model of David Paget's design that's still available on Sketchfab (screenshot below), and it's not unreasonable to assume that other fans could have thought it looked cool and built 3D printable models. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and acquires the 3D print file of one of those models from the interwebs. They mod the file a bit, print some, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!

Personally, I find Scenario A far more likely than Scenario B, for two reasons: First, the hero prop looks more injection molded than 3D printed, especially given the technical state of 3D printing back in 2017-8. And second... Budget-challenged dramas do have a history of picking up bulk video game replicas and using them as cheap props. I made a post back in 2019 about the WoW Horde shields we spotted in a different drama...

Anyway, no firm answers about the source of the hero prop -- the world may never know! -- but we have now confirmed that in some alternate universe (possibly one of the first eighty?), Zhao Yunlan and/or Zhao Xinci is an Assassin.

Wait, wait, wait... *recalls mechanics of how the whole Assassin's Creed frame story is supposed to work* Uh... so... who wants to write a genetic memory explanation for the whole Kunlun -> [lots of lifetimes] -> Zhao Yunlan thing?

(I did actually check the catalogue of a friend of mine who makes replicas of props from various media franchises to see if he'd done a commission of the David Paget design, since a surprising number of his custom pieces actually do end up on film and television, but while he has a gorgeous replica of a revolver that actually appears in an AC game, it appears he has not done the Zhao Yunlan gun. I didn't really think it likely, since he's in the U.S., but you never know.)

well. one day in 2004 when visiting my cousin in the hospital after her car accident. i missed an episode of Bonanza, due to...you know, being at the hospital. this was back in ye olden days of TV guides, recording things on VCR's, and....no....wikis.... not like we have now. no sites to tell you everything, no screencaps, no youtube... and ye olde dial-up internet days. and anyway.... the TV guide descrip made that episode sound thrilling. and...and i just had to know!

and i knew... i remember, knowing in my heart. that if i went online and tried to find out what happened. i'd never get off the computer again. well, i was right. the short conclusion to this tale is i found specific Bonanza fansites loaded with fanfiction!!! and i devoured it. i wanna say within the same month? i was hand-writing fanfic in spiral notebooks for Bonanza. still have that spiral notebook and that unfinished fic, literally locked in a treasure chest. and i still remember the entire plot, what i planned to do with it... yeah.

no, i never did find out what was in that episode i missed/didn't get to record... like i said, no wikis or anything of that nature... (we had to leave from school that day so i didn't get to go home and program the VCR; i'd not known that morning we'd be going to the hospital later.) and they didn't re-run the episode again... so i've still not seen it... but, i started writing fanfic that summer. a defining moment in my life. and yes, my cousin is well!

ohhh, hmmm... idk if i could scale it. maybe right in the middle, a 5 or 6? this will make more sense if i describe my process perhaps.

so if i'm really in the writing zone, i just...plow ahead until i'm finished. and then i go back and edit. when i'm "in the zone" oftentimes i don't see things that could genuinely be improved by better phrasing, better language choices... they just elude me cuz i'm so hyperfixated on the story and it's so clear in my head, so, of course it's great on the page! (example: Forfeit was written this way.) usually i then just quickly fix obvious typos/grammar things and toss the fic into the void. then i'll return a few months later when it's no longer fresh, and then see soooo many things that could be better, and depending on my mood i'll go back and heavily edit, or, i won't.

the other process... if i'm not "in the zone" usually i write a few lines, get stuck, and to get myself unstuck i go back and edit what i've done. fixing things, adding things... and usually once those few lines are edited i have the next ones ready to be written in my head. it's a slower process overall.

editing for other people is a whole different ball game. i love doing that (as long as i'm in the mood/have the energy/time) because it helps me refine my writing craft too, in trying to assist someone with a totally different style than mine. it's great. and i've edited/beta-read for so many diff people now with such a variety of styles it's really making me more aware of my own, and how it's changed over the years. and i also just enjoy helping people.

the idea of something getting better just appeals to me i guess. it's a good feeling, it's productive. so in that sense, i enjoy editing. if i feel really stuck on a project, then it can become just another slow-down however. that would be the only negative i suppose.

haha, already answered this in a prior ask but i'll choose a different one.

i spent days learning how to waltz properly. all the techniques, and the process by which one learns... to write one character teaching another character, very, very methodically. and apparently i did it well, i received a comment about it from someone who actually waltzes professionally if i remember correctly who was very pleased with my writing of it! can i waltz? or dance at all? no, no i cannot. but i could probably talk someone else through how to learn!

for posterity (and so i can close the tab), i'm posting screenshots of the private skip/watch list i made for friends only - since i was too big of a dummy and didn't liveblog my initial tos watchthrough, to my ETERNAL FUCKING WOE, this is as close as i'm ever getting. sad! DISCLAIMER that i disagree with my past self on some of the skip/watch verdicts so please use the official spreadsheet (still a wip) as a guide if you're looking for that kind of thing.

of note from this first screencap: dagger of the mind, which i continue to feel normal about for no particular reason and definitely not relating to a movie with a brainwashing chair that came out in 2014. the corbomite manuever, which i dismissed at first and then came around to liking better later because of the little character moments. conscience of the king, which was actually the first trek episode i ever watched before i went back and did them all in official order (mistake, production order is better) and which of course got me into this mess. squire of gothos, which has this scene that inspired this fanfic. don't text.

it's also worth mentioning that i had to watch not one not two but THREE bad to mid episodes before i hit naked time and enemy within and then they put me right back in it with mudd's women. if i hadn't already seen conscience of the king and knew what was up i would have fucking quit. and that's why production order is superior

of note for this batch: the city on the edge of forever, in which a lot of important stuff happened, but also spock wore a little hat. catspaw, which is the first time i had an inkling of the idea that would later spawn this powerpoint (this is what "giving john crichton" means ifykyk). mirror mirror, which i didn't get until like a week later and then went insane over. metamorphosis, which made me so frothing mad it's unreal.

of note here: the immunity syndrome, which i have rewatched 60000 times for the spones. return to tomorrow, during which my eyes were dinnerplates start to finish. by any other name, which truly had so much going on including what i know in my heart was a tarsus iv reference. bread and circuses, which did indeed make me blush when bones pushed spock against the wall and spock went "really doctor?" i still can't think about it.

of note: the enterprise incident, which again caused mental illness related to the previously linked powerpoint. the paradise syndrome, which was the only amnesia episode, the first time kirk and spock mindmelded on screen, and so utterly fucking racist that all of that stuff was absolutely ruined beyond belief; i instantly moved to a google doc and to write down my mind palace version that doesn't involve All Of That. the one-two punch of the world is hollow + the empath, which made me a bones understander. the tholian web, which made me bonkers because i love a good fake death. plato's stepchildren, sections of which i had to watch through my fingers.

finally, of note for this batch: whom gods destroy, which unexpectedly brought back the brainwashing chair and excited me so much i had to pause the episode to collect myself. that which survives, bc the looney toons sfx made me scream laugh. requiem for methuselah, which genuinely induced a november 5th-like mania i didn't think i'd ever feel again. all our yesterdays, which was the worst i'd EVER felt for a space babe. and finally, turnabout intruder, which introduced "it's better to be DEAD than to be in the body of [x]" into my own personal lexicon.

ok that's everything! we have nine episodes left of tos to go back and watch before we move onto tng, but i know in my heart that tos will always be my favorite. i'll miss you tos :(

Several members have approached us with evidence from your blogs that you ship or tolerate Plantcest and we take a hard zero-tolerance stance against incest and those willing to engage with its themes for the safety and comfort of members within our group, including those that specifically mention no Plantcest in their rules. Frankly, i don't ship plantcest, and I have never written, reblogged or shared it. If it's in my liked history, then I don't know where you are looking. Fair enough, I must have liked something without truly looking at the contents, but I would like to see the evidence that was submitted so I can at least have closure.

This is not me disputing this ban, simply wanting to understand.

This is immensely disappointing, but the comfort of others comes first. In the future, at least let people know upon the ban without leaving them in the dark for so long. Nobody contacted me, at all, nor spoke to me on any platform. If this is what you would consider fair moderation, I urge you to rethink these practices. You also sent the same copy pasta response to me and the legato / midvalley that joined recently.

the fact that you list evidence as 'posts I liked', not made, says a lot. I couldn't find any plantcest posts i've liked when going through, but I didn't get through over 3500 posts i've liked on one blog alone. Someone had to actively stalk through all my posts on my private blogs, meticulously searching for tags, to have this issue which makes me question why moderators are accepting this behaviour.

It seems like you are encouraging the possibility of targetted harassment on anyone for anything they've done in the past and with no real chance to defend yourself there is a lot of cause for concern. Cancelling people based on liked posts alone for a fictional ship that they don't even ship, who is an artist, and looks at artstyle and often not the contents of the post itself is a toxic way to moderate. Especially since not once was I rude to anybody in isola, asked to ship plantcest, shared, or encouraged incest. I have been nothing but kind, and have had nothing but good things to say to people.

Once again, I do not condone incest / incestuous ships.

I expected better communication from Isola Radiale to at least tell my side and defend myself fairly. But after several people coming forwards in my DMs and telling horror stories of being banned with no warning & reason, sometimes because of mod power trips and sometimes because someone was friends with the moderators, this behaviour no longer surprises me. Guilty until proven innocent seems to be the reoccuring theme, and I still haven't recieved any evidence to back up your claims.

I consider this ban a bullet dodged, as I have only invested a few days of interest.

Fandom communities never truly change, and for one ran by 7 people, there seems to be an awful lot of carefully hidden drama, elitism & gatekeeping- mainly because you shit talk about your own community members on twitter :)

To anybody considering joining Isola... I would advise against it. They can and will ban you without warning for minor infractions on your own personal accounts without trail nor jury. No matter what I could have said in this instance, I would have always been seen as guilty, and that in itself says everything you need to know about Isola Radiale.

please excuse me if you have answered this question before ^^! how do you manage such an extensive collection of quotes/poems/excerpts? do you have an effective system of "catalouging" or "categorizing" them?

THEORETICALLY, yes, I have a system where I put a quote into a folder with themes - like grief, love, nature etc. I put theoretically in all caps because honestly, most of them are not in this system yet - I had no system for like a year, everything was in one big folder and I couldn't find anything, and now I'm categorising it in bursts when I have the energy. And in the meantime, I'm adding to the Mess because I hate myself. [sobs]

In a much less ambitious sense, I do have a few folders sectioned off from the Big Folder that aren't so methodical; I have one for tumblr tags, for example, as I have my in the tags series of posts (that I swear I WILL get back to), and another one for screencaps of shows and films so they that they don't make it even harder to find things, because screencaps at the end of the day are like 20 photos of the same thing, just slightly altered, with different writing on, and they take up a hell of a lot of space. Others were just stuff exclusively from A Softer World, or Disco Elysium, or just my own writing.

The only themed web I ever made from one of these folders (that wasn't just a dump of everything in it, like the Disco Elysium web I did) was this one - I'd been putting away quotes that I identified with for a little bit, got the request, and figured that I might as well make something out of what I felt. It felt less vulnerable sharing it that way, like it was somebody else's feelings as well as somebody else's words, and I made it a whole year without telling anybody that that web was different, until this ask. I guess I'm ready now. Met somebody else unattainable to pine after that doesn't feel so painful, you know how it goes.

Anyway, I got off-topic. Yes, I have a system. No, it is not fully implemented yet. I also go back through my own theme tags on this tumblr to find stuff I've used before, but I'm not always as comprehensive as I should be when theme tagging stuff on here, although I have gotten better, so I tend to try my Big Mess Folder first if I'm looking for a particular quote I know I've seen before.

Hi Nia! You're gifs are so pretty! Is it possible for you to show how you get your WandaVision gifs too look so clear and hd? And how do you do your colorings too? WHAT KIND OF VIDEOS ARE BEST?

.mkv files (the bigger the better BUT i usually think anything above 5 gb is excessive and unnecessary for an episode of television BUT for a movie worth it) itunes downloads (logolesspro on twitter, hd-source on tumblr, live-action-raws on tumblr have some DEPENDING on what you’re looking for) (also, there’s a chance that if you search "show/movie hd download tumblr” you’ll find a tumblr with its itunes download available)

THAT IS IT NO OTHER TYPE OF FILES MAKE YOUR GIFS LOOK GOOD

- my suggestion is always if its new (like just came out the past month) t*rrent it! it’ll be downloaded quickly and .mkv files look the best! BUT if not check the sources above see who has the BIGGEST file if they even have what you’re looking for and then if not then you look to t*rrenting!!

here are the wandavision files i use so you can see!!

SCREENCAPPING

-if you have windows use potplayer! i have a mac so i can’t show you how to use it and it’s not available for me :( HOWEVER back when i had a windows potplayer was the best method in screencapping!!

-I HAVE A MAC! so i use mpv!! (go to mpv.io and follow the directions) BUT DON’T DOWNLOAD THE LATEST ONE (it has a bug that skips frames) try each before the latest one bc from what i heard different ones work differently for everyone!! and i don’t know which one i use (yikes!) THERE ISN’T THAT MANY I PROMISE AND IT’S WORTH IT BC MPV IS THE BEST (i used to use adapter but they didn’t take impressive screencaps in my opinion and it was evident in my gifs you can see it too! )

create a folder for your screencaps! and make sure to rmb the directory order! now we want to create a text file on our built in textedit app on mac! type up all this down below (i like jpg but you can replace jpg w png if you want) AND SAVE THE FILE AS mpv.conf THIS IS IMPORTANT SO DON’T FORGET IT! save it somewhere you’ll find easily and NEVER delete it until you don’t use mpv anymore

just in case you don’t know what to insert after, go to your screencaps folder

now you want to open mpv and go to the corner towards mpv -> preferences and they’ll tell you that there is no .conf file SO GO LOOK FOR THE TEXT FILE WE JUST MADE AND DRAG IT TO THE FOLDER THEY OPENED FOR US AFTER SAYING THERE IS NO .CONF FILE

now we can screencap!

so let’s find the scene we want RIGHT BEFORE and MAKE SURE SUBTITLES ARE OFF

i pause and then press (option/alt + s) and then SCREENCAPS ARE BEING TAKEN!! and to end the screencaps being taken you once again press (option/alt + s)!!

now we want to delete the excess frames! and put it all into one folder!! DO NOT DELETE FRAMES IN THE MIDDLE OF WHAT YOU WANT TO GIF!! WHEN YOU SKIP FRAMES IT WILL BE NOTICEABLE!!

MAKING THE GIF

this method isn’t used that much BUT I LOVE IT so this is how i put my frames in! first i check to see the size of my frames: 1920 x 1080

so i create a NEW file on photoshop with those dimensions w these settings

now i set my tool on photoshop to path selection tool bc if you have it set on smth like move tool or crop tool at the end you might end up moving or cropping frames you don’t want to!

ok so now we select ALL our frames and drag it on top of our new file on photoshop and the MOMENT we see our first frame in photoshop JUST KEEP CLICKING ENTER until all the frames are loaded!!

you can do file -> scripts -> load files into stack but it is WAYYY slower in my opinion!

now i crop out the excess BUT i don’t resize the gif yet! the dimensions wandavision is filmed in is 4:3 so i go to crop and set the settings to this:

MAKE SURE IT’S ON RATIO SO WE’RE PRESERVING THE ORIGINAL SIZE JUST CUTTING OFF THE BLACK EDGES!! We are going from 1920 x 1080 to 1440 x 1080 this is the dimensions after i cropped

WE ARE KEEPING THE QUALITY BY NOT CHANGING THE DIMENSIONS OF ANYTHING INSIDE !!

now we want to go to actions and create an action!! open up actions w one of these two depending on what your dash looks like!!

so we create an action with this button on the bottom of actions and we’re gonna title it making a gif and hit record!!

NOW LET’S GOOOOO!!

1. make sure you have timeline on your dash!

2. create frame animation (if you see create video timeline just click the arrow next to the button to see your other option which is frame animation!!)

3. now let’s meet our best friend!! the little bar in the top right corner that has all the commands for making our gifs and MAKE FRAMES FROM LAYERS

4. WE HAVE TO SHARPEN OUR GIFS NOW BUT TO DO THAT WE NEED TO CONVERT TO A SMART OBJECT SO NOW WE ARE GOING TO CONVERT TO VIDEO TIMELINE there are two ways: the button in the bottom left corner or the button in the top right corner w all the other commands!

5. select -> all layers DON’T MANUALLY SELECT THEM ALL BC THE ACTION WILL ONLY SELECT THAT SAME NUMBER OF FRAMES SO IF THERE ARE MORE FRAMES YOU WON’T GET THEM IN THE SMART OBJECT!!

6. filter -> convert for smart filters

7. NOW WE SHARPEN!! (filter -> sharpen -> smart sharpen) i sharpen twice!! first, make sure we are on legacy w more accurate and remove gaussian blue! the first sharpening will be 500% with 0.4 px radius. NOW SHARPEN AGAIN (filter -> sharpen -> smart sharpen) also w legacy, more accurate and remove gaussian blur BUT this time 10% with a 10.0 px radius!

8. it’s hd now!! so let’s flatten frames into clips!! go to the top right magic button again!! and you should see a pop up saying layers are being made

9. now we convert back to frame animation w either the bottom left button or our magic top right command center!

11. select all frames w our magic command button

12. set the animation delay to 0.05 THAT IS THE BEST ONE ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS only use 0.06 when the character is moving really fast in the video itself and it makes the gif itself look awkward BUT NEVER GO ABOVE 0.06 it’ll look slow and laggy and we don’t want that and don’t go below 0.05 bc then it’ll be tooo fast and we don’t want that either!

13. now delete the very first frame on the timeline bc it is an oversharpened duplicate of the second frame! end the recording w this button!

this is what your action should look like expanded! if you made mistakes on the way and it shows up you can just click the specific step and press the trash can on the action tab to delete in from the order!!

NOW AFTER LOADING YOUR FRAMES AND CROPPING THE EDGES OF YOUR FRAMES IF YOU NEED TO JUST PLAY THE ACTION AND THEN YOUR GIF WILL BE MADE FOR YOU!!!!

now i delete some unnecessary frames in the beginning and end and this is what my gif looks like (the size was 46 mb and the limit is 10 mb so the dimensions of the gif are 540 x 405 to get it to 5 mb BUT I HAVEN’T CROPPED IT YET SO THIS IS ME CROPPING JUST TO SHOW YOU WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE)

CROPPING THE GIF

in my opinion if you want your gif to look hd you shouldn’t crop before you sharpen!! i believe that if you crop before you sharpen you don’t allow photoshop to sharpen all the pixels whereas if you crop beforehand there is less to work with!!

dimensions is all up to you!! just make sure to go by tumblr rules!! 540 is the max width and if you want to make two gifs per row then my suggested width is 268 and for three gifs per row my suggested is 177 px! Just have the right width and the length can be whatever you want!!

now i’m going to crop my gif to 540 by 590!!

COLOURING BASICS

let me show you the best adjustment tools in my opinion and a brief explanation for what they do!!

brightness/contrast: pretty simple increase/decrease the brightness/contrast BUT one of my techniques for when i first start colouring a gif is i select all my frames and do nothing to the settings of the adjustment but i set the layer to screen LIKE THIS

curves: ik others use curves to change brightness/contrast w the squiggly thing BUT i like it to set a white point and black point, this is also a technique i use when i first start colouring a gif when screen doesn’t look good for me SO you use white point to select a pixel on the gif to set as the lightest color on the gif (setting the white point) and you use black point to select a pixel on the gif to set as the darkest colour on the gif (setting the black point) usually the white point makes it TOO bright and that’s why we use the black point to counter it and same goes for when i use screen with brightness/contrast, it gets too bright so i use black point to counter it below is the button for white point and the button for black point, respectively they are shaped as color picker tools

vibrance: generally, i never use this except for color p*rn sets but they work really well in making colors seem more strong

hue/saturation: like vibrance, i never use this except for color p*rn sets but this adjustment is to help change the colors or hue of a color for example: turn blue into purple or turn a blue into a little lighter shade of blue

color balance: I ALWAYS USE THIS!! except for in black and white gifs BUT THIS IS MY GO TO AND IF I DON’T USE IT MY GIFS ARE JUST BLAND i feel like color balance is what essentially balances the colors on your gif and adds dimension to it, it makes your gif go from looking way too yellow to a more golden neutral look and it is an essential adjustment in my opinion

channel mixer: i rarely use channel mixer BUT it is so so useful when you are working w a dark scene just play w the settings and all of a sudden all the blue in a dark scene will be a little more yellow and red and your scene will kind of just look brighter and more visible

selective color: THIS IS ALSO AN ESSENTIAL this helps SPECIFIC colors pop you’re working on a scene where there is too much red on someones face you use this tool to remove the magentaness from the yellow section OR when you feel someones face is TOO yellow and needs more blush you add more magenta in the yellow section of selective color

gradiant map: gradiant map is perfect when you’re lazy if you feel like your gif looks more neutral and you want some red in it but you don’t want to mess with any other adjustments just set a red to black gradiant on soft overlay with a very low opacity and BOOM slightly red but not too much red added!

NOW TO COLOR THE GIF!

today i have decided to start with a brightness layer set on screen

and this is what we got!

now that’s a little to bright and washed out in my opinion SOOOO to counteract it, i’m going to use my black point tool in curves and i’m going to select this point on the gif (it’s better to choose smth in the background and not smth that’s paid attention to such as monica’s hair or either of their eyelashes)

now my gif looks like this! the base color is complete!

now i think i need to balance all this yellow and red! SOOOO WE GONNA USE COLOR BALANCE!!

i think the best way to use color balance is to keep swinging the balancer until you see what you like and then keep going midtones i think i want more red and i don’t want a cyan midtone and then for shadows i think i want more cyan to counter the redness of the gif but highlights i don’t touch that much NOW HERE ARE MY SETTINGS SO YOU CAN SEE

and this is what my gif looks like

now you can stop here if you want but in my opinion i think the gif looks a lil too dead still SO IMMA USE SELECTIVE COLOR

i think there needs to be a lot lot more RED so i amp up the yellow magenta and black in the red! but i also think the yellows need to be LESS RED so i remove magenta from the yellow! and bc there’s some cyan and blue bc of monica and the flowers in the background im going to make the cyans more cyan and the blues a lil more black! i’m going to remove some yellows from the magenta!! and i add more black to the neutrals and black!! i think it’s always important to add more black to neutral and black bc it adds more depth to the gif by not just making it a bunch of bright colors and having dark colors to contrast to!! my settings are below!

ADDING SUBTITLES

we want to grab the text tool!

make a text box from anywhere in the middle from the left to right edge. this is so we can make sure our text is centered and will be in the same place for when we have sets w more than one gif w text!

type your text out and make sure you highlight the whole text so that all the settings apply to EACH character! you can find the alignments (for center) in the paragraph tab!

now lets right click on the text layer and go to blending options! add stroke and drop shadow!

now drag it to the desired height you would like and make sure to keep it in mind for when you have more than one subtitled gif in a set!

NOW TO MAKE SURE THE TEXT STAYS IN PLACE AND THE BLENDING STAYS YOU HAVE TO CONVERT TO SMART OBJECT!!

if you want to only have the text applied to certain frames instead of all frames, select the frames you don’t want by clicking the first frame in ur don’t want section ON THE TIMELINE and WHILST HOLDING SHIFT click the last frame of ur don’t want section and then toggle the eye switch next to the text layer

tip: use opacity to fade the text in and out!

the text is going to be on all my frames so i don’t need to toggle the eye but i just wanted to show you just in case!!

now here’s my FINAL RESULT

save for web (file -> export -> save for web) 

your gifs have to always be under 10 mb! so, if your WAYYY overboard YOU HAVE TO DELETE FRAMES! or you can divide the gif in two and have two gifs instead of one! however, if you plan on going the deleting frames route MAKE SURE YOU DELETE FROM THE BEGINNING OR END OF YOUR SELECTION i promise you that most of us won’t notice that your characters dialogue is being cut off BUT WE WILL NOTICE IF FRAMES ARE BEING SKIPPED so, don’t delete frames in the middle of ur gif!! idc how little you do it IT WILL RUIN YOUR GIF AND I SAY THIS FROM EXPERIENCE i would delete every fifth frame to cut down my gifs and that may seem like not that big of a deal BUT IT IS my gif looked choppy and poor so it is way better to cut from the end/beginning of the gif

ANOTHER LAST PIECE OF ADVICE in the bottom left of when the save for web menu shows up THERE’S A PREVIEW BUTTON click on it! it’ll show you your gif on your default browser and show you what it’ll look like once uploaded! this is perfect to check the speed of ur gif and the colouring and to notice if there’s a problem with your subtitles or maybe there’s an obvious jump in frames you never noticed before!! i always use preview bc the built-in photoshop viewer of ur gif shows the colors differently and the speed is NEVER ACURRATE!

I USED THESE SAVE SETTINGS!! many say to use selective pattern but i DISAGREE and i think these save settings are the ✨ best ✨

PLANNING

The planning for this set started simple enough, as it was made for Day 1 of the #KDRAMAWOMENSWEEK prompts, which was "Doubles/Foils".

I immediately thought of making something for Extraordinary You given the show's premise. My first idea was to make something out of Eun Dan-oh being the actual show's main character, but the "extra" in the comic book their characters live in vs Yeo Joo-da as the "protagonist" of the comic book, but a supporting character in the actual show.

Unfortunately, Na-eun and her kpop group got exposed for bullying one of their bandmates at around that time, so this was scrapped.

I still wanted to work with Extraordinary You, so I pivoted to focusing on Dan-oh's character, juxtaposing her comic book/stage character with her true, off-stage character. With this in mind, I wanted to ensure I display both her "stage" self and her "true" self in the set, so I started looking for and screencapping scenes I can use for the set.

On this note, I also made it my goal for this event to learn how to blend and overlay gifs. I forced myself to only make sets in these styles I've never tried.

I perused @anya-chalotra tutorial on putting multiple gifs into one using shapes for my first scrapped idea, and @inejz-ghafa tutorial on blending gifs, which I ended up relying on the most as I began creating.

CREATING

Let's just say creating was a messy process for me because this was my first time attempting to do a blended gif.

To start, I was just speed-browsing through Extraordinary You episodes, and capping as much scenes I could potentially use as possible. I wanted to focus on how stage!Dan-oh is always portrayed by the writer as weak and sickly, and shadow!Dan-oh is more strong-willed and full of life, and blend those two together.

I think with experience, I will probably learn how to make better screencapping choices, but at this point, I was just in the I WILL MAKE IT WORK AND BLEND IT mode.

Anyway, I coloured the gifs first as I saw fit, before blending. As you can see for this one I had a lot of PSDs saved. Essentially for each gifset, I have the base PSD, the accent PSD (which essentially will be what I blend with the base), and the blended gifset (where I experiment with the blending, and adjust colouring). If there's gonna be text on the gifset, I also save that as a another PSD, so that's around 3-4 PSDs per gif.

The colouring itself just follows my usual process for doing my coloured gifs. The only thing I thing I did differently is to colour the area where I want to blend with a black paint brush, and set that layer to Soft Light, and duplicated the layer, changed the opacity of the layer until I achieve the darkness I need for my blended gif.

I kept the colouring for the accent gif for this one pretty basic...

Because I ended up adding the purple colouring later on after I blended the gifs together.

After I've made my colouring adjustments to the blended gif, I converted everything into 1 smart object, added noise, then converted back to frame animation so I can add text.

The process is the same for pretty much all 3 gif sets, but of course I did experiment A LOT on what scenes to blend with the base gif. I think this is when experience with doing more blended gifs come into play cause I wasn't very smart in choosing the scenes to blend. I just know what idea I want, and the base gif I want to use and tried to hammer it in until it looked passable to me. Maybe the base gif I chose isn't the easiest to use for blending, etc., but I think making those smart choices will hopefully come to me the more experienced I become in making these types of gifs.

POSTING

For posting this one, since it was part of an event, I had it in my drafts until the event started. So I set up the caption, and tags as soon as I finished the gif set, and saved it until I was ready to post.

In general, I do post my gifsets and save it in the drafts as I make the set. It show me the full picture of the gifset I'm creating, and helps me see whether something needs colour adjustments, or the flow of the gifset isn't looking as good as I thought.

For this particular set, I struggled a lot with the second (middle) gif because I was having a tough time finding a scene I want to blend it with, how to style it in general, and even the colouring of it... when I was posting different versions of the second set, nothing was quite working, and in the end I just went with the gif that semi-worked with the flow of the set, even though it's not 100% what I wanted because I've already spent so much time on it and I was already empty creatively.

But yeah, I do like saving the gif set in my drafts as I go along so I can keep my creative vision in check.

When the time rolled along, and the #KDRAMAWOMENSWEEK event started, I just posted it during the day and that's that.

Plot Synopsis:

Castiel sends Dean back in time to 1973 where he encounters younger versions of his parents and for the first time meets his grandfather Samuel Campbell who holds a secret that sheds a light on the Winchester Family's connection to the hunter community.

Features:

Sam’s dirty little secret, time travel in the other direction this time, young hot John Winchester, young hot Mary Campbell, Mary as the original hunter, world’s weirdest family dinner, demon deals as generational trauma, the inevitability of fate, even more intense destiel heart eyes than yesterday’s episode.

My Thoughts:

I had forgotten how much this episode kicks ass until rewatching it but I did almost cry so there’s that. There is literally only one single negative thing in the entire episode and it’s that it grosses me out that Dean calls Mary a babe. You can tell a straight dude wrote the episode just from that.

I like to imagine that the screaming Dean is remembering in his nightmare at the top of the episode is him remembering Cas and the angels’ assault on hell. I have no evidence for this but it makes me happy so here we are.

Y’all, Mary has a Men of Letters symbol on her anti-possession bracelet. I gasped out loud when I saw it. Proof:

I love so much that they made Mary the original hunter. I like that she gets to become more and more complicated after her death until finally they bring her back just so they can complicate her even further. The scene where Mary talks to Dean about wanting to get out and how the worst thing she can imagine being raising her kids to be hunters is the scene where I almost burst into tears. And yeah, I’ve had a long day, but still. It reminded me so much of What is and What Never Should Be (2x20). They’re just two scared kids who want to have a family and stability and safety, and they were both killed because of it. I’m about to cry again while I write this, someone help me.

I love that Cas always shows up when Dean is at his most vulnerable. Unbelievable that Stacked makes it so that we watch “In The Beginning” immediately after “The End”, and we have two of the most iconic and most similar early destiel moments in them, both at the end of an episode where an angel sent Dean time traveling. Insanity.

Notable/Kickass Lines:

“You can trust me. I mean, come on, we're all hunters, right? I mean, we're – we're practically family.”

(same anon as before) I'm just struggling to understand the decision they made. It came out of nowhere and makes literally no sense. The only thing I can think of is that the articles aren't true (I know of at least one that last night said Chris was dropped to recurring) and that maybe Chris' contract is still in talks? I don't know. I'm grasping at straws, I know. But we didn't know he was coming back at the end of s2 until Comic Con. So maybe?

Hi darling. I understand how you feel. I was there when I first heard about the events of the finale and the decision to write Chris off. I have been in denial for a couple months.

Right now, I believe that they don’t have plans to have Chris back, definitely not in season 4. The producers said that this was Karamel’s closure and they are not planning to keep on telling this story and that’s sadly exactly what I think they plan to do.

But what happened? Why would they do that? I want to know too and I have been thinking about it.

I ageee with you, Mon-El’s permanent departure came out of nowhere. It is quite clear to me that the writing has been pointing out to have Karamel as endgame and the love of Kara’s life until 3x22. It was hinted heavily and then it changed. It’s like the finale was written by a different group of people.

I have also seen a few screencaps of the finale script. I wrote about them yesterday, before it aired:

“Mon-El breaks up with Imra and after the battle he speaks with Kara in the DEO balcony and tells her that he has to leave for the future because he has a mission and thinks he belongs there; Kara agrees that he has a duty and that’s why he is the man that she admires so much; Mon-El says that in Argo he wanted to leave everything behind and run away with Kara but they are star-crossed; Kara says not all stories are simple and that with time the right path always reveals itself in the end; Mon-El replies that he will always be sad that their paths did not align. Mon-El also keeps the necklace and gives his ring to Kara”.

Most of this appeared in the episode, so they were legit. But have you noticed that there were some phrases that were cut down? The part about star-crossed, the right path revealing itself in the end and sadness about their paths not aligning.

I believe that they probably filmed a longer scene and that’s why Kara seems to be so off. Melissa was probably showing more emotion in the part that didn’t end up in the episode. I also think that maybe they filmed more Mon-El goodbye scenes or mentions to him that we haven’t seen.

So the result of this changes is that the Karamel ending and the Mon-El goodbye don’t look like epic or important. If you compare Mon-El’s goodbye to Winn’s or Mrynn’s it’s almost disrespectful. The original version of the script also was more suggestive of a future together.

What happened? Rumours are not clear about who wanted to have Mon-El off the show, and I don’t know what the truth is. I’m not sure if Chris wanted to leave or not.

Has there been a disagreement between Chris and TPTB? Did they decide what they wanted to do with Mon-El at the very last minute? Was this a reaction to the hate and harassment that they have been receiving for two years? Was this because the new producers decided to change completely the show after firing AJK? We will probably never know. Chris will not talk because Melissa, but something very weird happened BTS.

So they are not planning to keep on telling Karamel’s story as of today. Does this mean that Karamel is over for good? Mostly yes. But…

But they left the door open in case they change their mind. The Flarrowverse has had a lot of cameos (Tommy, Moira) and returns of characters (Laurel, Roy, Snart) even when they weren’t supposed to come back so it could happen.

Also, I highly doubt that they will be able to build a love interest for Kara that is better or more epic than Karamel, not with the Melwood chemistry and not compared to the guy that founded a legion and became a selfless hero because he was inspired by her.

I think that Kara might decide that she is a hero that cannot have it all. She found true love with Mon-El in season 2 and she lost it. They may decide to keep her single or casually dating for some time. None of the new characters seem to be a LI for her, Brainy is blue and weird and Lena is becoming evil and will hate Kara when she finds out who she really is.

Based on this, I think that there is a chance of Mon-El someday maybe returning to the show and Kara’s life (a couple episodes per season can be easily done, like Clark in season 2), specially if fans demand it and/ or ratings tank after his departure. Floriana was in discussions to return in season 4 and she was written off less than a season ago.

If ratings tank in season 4, they might panic and ask Chris to come back. I think that he would consider it for Melissa, specially if he is available. (For the record, I want Chris to be successful with all his projects and will watch anything he does now).

They could end their story with a Karamel endgame, specially if they lose viewers and decide to cancel the show, which could happen after season 4 (once they can do syndication). They could have him back for a few episodes at the end of the last season for the endgame ending like they did with Delena or Captain Swan.

Will it happen? Will Mon-El ever come back? I don’t know. It might, but at the moment the answer is that there are not plans for it to happen so keeping hope is not very realistic. I consider the healthiest thing for me is accepting that his story ended and move on. If Mon-El ever comes back, I will be ecstatic and all for it.

I will not watch the show without Mon-El. I will not promote it or speculate/ discuss non-Karamel aspects anymore. The first season and the episodes in season 3 without Mon-El were very boring to me. Also I felt that the season 3 finale was a slap in my face as a Karamel shipper and Mon-El fan (not only because he left, but also because of the way they did it, that was so underwhelming and disrespectful), so nope. I will join any trends to ask him back and send Chris love. I will keep on reblobbing about Karamel and Melwood, watch whatever Chris does, interact with the Fam and read/ write Karamel fanfiction. I’m here for any Karamell who needs me.

This is what I think. I would love to give you more hope. Sending you lots of hugs 💕

*breaks fingers* HOENHEIM OUT HERE LOOKIN LIKE GOLDEN JESUS.let’s talk about one of my favorite visually symbolic tropes: the crucified christ pose, or as tvtropes calls it, the crucified hero shot.

im not sure how much religious background the people reading this will have, so let’s start with the basics. in christianity, jesus was crucified by the romans on a cross, in what is regarded as one of the most painful kinds of death anyone can suffer. this involves nails through the hands and feet, arms outstretched so that he hung there for hours until he suffocated or died from major organ failure. the bible says that although he could have avoided the unjust death penalty, he chose to die in the ultimate gesture of sacrifice, redemption, and unconditional love to save the world from their sin, although the world hated him and had him killed. the theology of the crucifixion is that the wrath of God that was meant for mankind’s sins was poured out on jesus when he made his sacrifice on the cross.

in media the outstretched-arms pose is typically used when someone (the hero) makes a sacrifice to save someone else. they might die or take a blow/blast from the villain and be left with their arms spread wide and possibly their head hung in death. rarely is the pierced hands trope used. it isn’t always meant to draw God/jesus parallels, but it does here. hohenheim is the greatest sacrificial tragedy of fma, and in my good christian opinion, the most deserving of this christ-trope. he was given immense power but he sacrificed everything to save the word and save his children. in that screencap, he’s a broken physical barrier between his son and the monstrosity that could destroy the world - arms outstretched in protection and sacrifice, head hung in pain. christ on the cross. 

van hohenheim used up his philosopher’s stone to protect his son edward from a blast that would have killed him. until this point edward harbored extreme resentment towards his father and never once made an effort to forgive him or treat him as something other than the man who walked out on his family when they needed him. despite later knowing hohenheim’s reasons for leaving and understanding why he had to leave, edward does not change his outward attitude towards his father. it saddens hohenheim to see his son’s hostility to him, but he’s never angry at ed for it. i believe it’s this instant - when hohenheim intercepts the wrath of father in a physical act of salvation to save the son who never loved him -  that something switches inside ed and this is the catalyst for his forgiveness to his father. this act of sacrifice is unconditional and that’s what it means to love, and that’s the example that christ on the cross represents. i believe this action is why ed finally cries when hohenheim offers his life for al’s, because ed has seen how much his father would give for his family and he understands the guilt that plagues his father because its the same guilt that plagues him for his wrongs.

i can think of five other instances when this pose/trope is used (also if anyone thinks of any others, please lmk so i can analyze the crap out of them)

1. when greed gets boiled down to philosopher’s stone juice, in the manga he’s tied to a crucifix. the scene was animated differently probably to appeal better to western audiences – because japan is not entrenched in christian symbolism the way america is, it wouldn’t be seen as making a religious reference or even sacrilegious to some (a deadly sin incarnate on a cross?? how EVIL). if we want to go ahead and analyze that bit even though its not meant to be a religious motif, we might say that greed on a crucifix represents the twisted nature of father and his seven sins. he wants so desperately to be god and have the knowledge and power of god, so he ‘crucifies’ his son. twisted. (the dwarf in the flask, i might add, is a sweet sweet take on biblical descriptions of lucifer… more on that in another post) (maybe) but we can also look at this as being something of an unjust punishment for greed’s rebellion against father. he didn’t really do anything wrong, right? he just wanted some friends.

2. kimblee. kimblee kimblee kimblee. this is a weird villainous example and I’m not quite sure if it counts, but i’m including it anyway because it feels significant. idk. after heinkel rips out kimblee’s jugular, he’s bleeding out in the grass with his arms outstretched but instead of looking crucified or sacrificial, he just looks powerless. limp. he can’t move. i think it’s not an intentional christ pose. i think his hands are spread as far from each other as they can be to show that he cannot transmute anymore and he is the epitome of powerless. do with this information what you will. 

3. ok when wrath literally stabs roy THROUGH THE PALMS WITH HIS ARMS OUTSTRETCHED ON THE TRANSMUTATION CIRCLE can you get any more obvious??? roy wanted to be a savior to amestris, and help it start anew after he overthrew the old regime and what happened? he was stabbed through the hands and forced through the portal - which is one of the most traumatizing things that can happen in the fma world. usually the main character in the show is the savior-archetype, but on promised day, ed’s just in it to get his brother back and punch out god if need be. saving the world’ is roy’s goal, not ed’s. roy (and olivier) is the one who makes the big political moves and has the long-term goal of freeing amestris from the homunculi that control it (saving the world from their sins!! what!) and creating a better world from a fresh start. and he gets sacrificed for it with swords driven through his outstretched hands. 

4&5. after alphonse sacrifices his soul for ed’s arm, his arms fall back to the ground in the crucifix position. al has sacrificed his own soul, the only thing he has left, and when the transmutation is complete, ed is the one pinned (’nailed’ through the arm!!) with his arms outstretched. with the culmination of the only thing al had left to give, the transfer of sacrificial hero was literally placed on edward and it’s up to him to save the world & his baby brother. from the moment ed kneels by his brother’s broken spread-crucifix armor until the moment ed transmutes his door (,,,, prayer symbolism in ed’s transmutations… maybe i need to make a post for that) and leaves with alphonse, there’s this expectancy, this weight of ‘what is he going to do? what can he possibly sacrifice?’, and all that starts with that crucifix-trope-transfer from al to ed. fma is about love and sacrifice and most people equate sacrifice with death but fma says sacrifice is simply being willing to die for the sake of unconditional love.

He wants you to giggle from his jokes the way you giggle at that game. He wants you to stop dropping everything that you’re doing just to play the next chapter of the game.

He hates that game, and he especially hates that character with the blonde hair and blueish eyes.

Poor boy wants to snap the AI’s neck he can’t stand hearing you talk about it.

Yoosung usually just smiles and pretends it doesn’t bother him until he opens a package to find a fucking body pillow and he f r e A K S.

He feels really bad afterwards because he yelled at you, but you’re not upset. You found it amusing how jealous he got.

You promise him you’ll control your obsession a little and you assure your yandereish husband that you love him and only him.

Boy blushes and gives you tons of kisses before whispering into your ear, “I’ll show you just how much better I am than that AI.”

Pillow goes flying out the fucking window.

Really doesn’t mind at first because they’re not real people.

In fact, he finds it cute how excited you get playing the game. He loves how red your face get and the little dimples that appear around your smile.

And you were obsessed. And I mean obsessed.

You talked about him all the time, had him as your phone background it used to be you and Zen!!! had figurines, clothing…

Zen couldn’t handle it anymore and finally took your phone while you were in the shower and deleted the app.

You kinda played him by saving the game and being able to redownload it with all your data. So Zen, sucking up his pride, admitted to be a little annoyed and jealous, wishing you would direct all that love and obsession back towards him.

Those puppy eyes Zen gave you had you apologizing immediately and promising to not talk about the guy again. You were smacked by reality that you had the real thing right in front of you!

Doesn’t understand the appeal, but ok, that’s your thing.

Thinks you could be spending your time more productively, but again, ok, that’s your thing.

She really doesn’t have a problem with it until she finds out that your phone is filled with pictures of a specific character you like.

Jaehee never thought of this before… but pictures of her used to fill your phone.

Tries not to let it get to her because she knows the woman/man in the game is not real, but still, she can’t help but feel a little jealous.

Jealousy gets a little worse; she finds herself growing bitter towards the game and your constant talk of it, hates seeing the screencaps in the RFA chatroom, and bloody hell she had a dream where she found you cheating on her with one of the characters.

Jaehee doesn’t want to ask you to delete the game or even admit that she is jealous of an AI, but she feels like she should say something.

“H-hey, what if we play a game together?”

When you guys play a few rounds of Clue, and winner gets to do whatever they want with the loser~, Jaehee realizes just how silly her jealousy is.

Because you are all over her and there is no mention one of the damn AI while you two are together.

She decides to mentioning the fact she was ever jealous is pointless.

Because. Overall. You. Are. Hers.

Bruh, how do you even have the game?

He loves you, ok, but privacy is not his specialty.

He knows everything about you, what’s on your phone,

And he disapproves gravely of the dating games on your phone. In fact, he got so envious that he nearly made a deal with Seven to get the apps deleted and blocked from your phone.

Because he has to remain cool and collected, you have no idea that he hates the games so much. He knows you have them, so you presume it’s ok. I mean, not like he’d have a say in the matter whether you had them or not.

But god, he is livid. He hates those damn games. 

Why are you playing them?

Straight up asks you one day if you love them more than him.

“W-what? Jumin, they’re not even real. You’re my husband! Of course I love you more.”

“Than why are you playing games where you date people?”

Explaining the appeal is hard to do, but in the end, internally he tells himself it was pretty silly of hi to get jealous over fake people.

☺ Seven/Saeyoung ☺

Pretty sure he has a whole bunch on his phone too, because hey, this is Seven we are talking about. He lives for this shit.

But god forbid you have them.

He watches from afar, aka CCTV, as you obsesses over the characters in the game.

His sadistic side comes to light a little bit as he forcefully pulls the phone from your hands and has you pinned to the bed.

Oh boy.

Knows deleting the app isn’t enough. He isn’t dumb. You can redownload it.

So he puts a virus on your phone, and all your information gets wiped from the face of the planet.

You can not go on your games, get any of your data back.

Can’t talk to the hot AI’s!!!

For a while, he doesn’t even know what otome/dating games are,

So he has no idea you even play such a thing. And when he finds out? Not really bothered at first.

It’s just a game, and nothing that.

But then there was this  one character who you were absolutely obsessed with. You started dressing like the guy, hanging up pictures of the guy V cringes and you always smile at your phone when he ‘appears’ in the game.

What’s this feeling I’m feeling…?

Jealousy?

V’s never been jealous usually people are jealous over him so this is a completely new concept to him.

And of course he happens to be jealous over a video game characters.

Wants to be the diplomatic and good husband and just talk about it with you.

He brings it up and you feel really bad. 

It was never your intention to make him feel jealous!

“Gah, Jihyun! I’m so sorry, honey. I’ll never play the game again!”

“Oh no, MC, please, I’m sorry. Play it as much as you want! Just don’t do that characters… what is it called? Route? Can you just reset it or something?”

Hates it.

Absolutely hates it.

And his jealousy is transparent to everyone,

So of course you try to minimize your obsession, but it can be really hard. So you’ll never play the game in front of him, or you’ll tell him you’ve stopped playing all together.

But he walked in on you playing it on the toilet one day and while your pants were half way down your legs you were chasing him trying to get your phone back.

A g g r e s s i o n is his initial response towards the game half the time.

Will yell at you to stop, can be a little harsh at time; “Do you realize how pathetic it looks that you’re talking to fake guys?”

Begrudgingly apologizes and defends his actions by saying you shouldn’t play those games when he’s your boyfriend.

He gets a little annoyed with himself for being jealous over an AI, which triggers a bit of his anxiety. 

When you realize that is happening you feel absolutely terrible. And then he feels terrible because as much as he hates the games, he doesn’t want you basing decision around how he feels. 

After a heart to heart discussion on your feelings and a whole bunch of kisses and cuddles, you guys make a deal; You’ll not play the game as often if he doesn’t get so worked up about it.

Really, it’s just a game. There should be no stress over it. 

“Hm, ok,” Saeran says before a smirk crosses his face. “Come here then. We’ll play a game of sorts together.”

“That is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard of.”

Really thinks you’re wasting your time playing all those otome games. Those games and some pictures of you two are what practically take up all the space on your phone.

He says you could be doing something much more productive, like cleaning, for example.

Vanderwood will get a little annoyed when he gets home from work and he sees you lounging on the couch talking with AI’s.

But he’s the last one to ever admit he is jealous.

So he does the obvious thing to get you away from the phone and more attentive towards him.

Sex.

Really, he seduces you a little bit, gets you hot and bothered and then shows you just how awesome the real thing is~

And then he tazers your phone.

now, about your question.

I haven’t seen the meta and unfortunately there’s a reason for that.

I understand that plenty people here are in severe need of destiel being textually confirmed or at least bi!dean being confirmed. Hell, I’d sell whatever is left of my soul to get bi!dean on a plate, so I know the feel.

BUT

I’m afraid people are losing their grip on objectivity and are now clutching at things that are unrelated to the issue and kind of bend the context to fit the narrative they desire.

Another problem is that the spn writers are complete jackasses because they don’t want to alienate the bi!dean viewers so they sometimes deliver tiny hints that are open for interpretation but don’t have to mean anything. Actually, I should go with past tense here because, welp, they don’t do that anymore much. And as far as destiel goes, they made an attempt to resolve it although people didn’t want to see it (11x23, sorry guys, also please, listen to jensen, harsh reality in the end is better than false hope)

speaking of hints, there was this spray on wall thing that went something along the lines of “ppl r looking too deep into things” and that was a message to please, stop. I had it saved on my computer before I wiped it so if anyone has a screencap, please lemme know?

So, looking for things that increase the potential of Dean being bi, I’d go for things that relate to his sexuality and create negative/ambiguous spaces there. Not in random places because not everything is a metaphor and labeling everything uncomfortable as “performing Dean” is unfair for the character because the things Dean does are an immanent part of him, not just a fake mask, most of the time.

The grenade launcher was just a chekhov gun, a unique solution to a problem that seemed to have none, not an issue of “people or Dean himself never let him get dick but there will come a time when he does ride one and it will be glorious.”

I’m a big fan of respecting the authors’ intent and not telling them what they meant so I’d leave the obscure details alone in 8 times out of 10. The spn writers make so many fundamental mistakes, their writing really isn’t that deep.

General rule: if a “hint” needs 1,5 k of explanation why is it even a thing and additional outside context that can’t be recognized by most of the viewers in 10 seconds, it’s not a clue. It’s punching a square block until it goes through the circle-shaped hole.

it doesn’t mean it’s time, or it will ever be the time to convert to “dean is straight”, though. It’s just... why focus on streetsigns/cucumber water/the sun/guitars/grenade launchers when there’s this:
