I think the biggest appeal for the rq/transid community is the fact that it lets you put a name to some complicated emotion you're facing and move on.

"I'm transrace!" usually means "I have some complicated family history or trauma that leaves me feeling out of place even my 'own' people, and this word helps me feel more at peace"

"I'm transabled!" usually means "I am already disabled and that disability doesn't feel severe enough to warrant my accomodations so I feel guilty"/"I wish my disability was less severe"/"I have some disorder that makes me wish my mind or body was more broken in some way"

So on, so forth. Even the labels I do cling to (transage and transplural, as well as some secret ones ;P) have some deeper, important meaning or nuance behind them. This isn't a case of "white people wanting to say slurs" or people who want to fetishize disability, this is people with really complicated problems that, for all the activism the mainstream has accomplished, still aren't being taken seriously or getting the attention and care they need.

I don't care what your label is, I don't care about your reasoning. You're safe here, you always will be. That, at least, will never change.

Speaking of the lighter "This Too Shall Pass". It's supposedly the only thing that has survived of the real Noel. It teleports to Arthur no matter what else he loses. Kayne doesn't seem to even notice it's existence. And it must be important because Arthur later calls it out. Harlan in a QnA didn't answer to the question. Detective Noel (the one who gets teleported to Spain) thinks that the original Noel might be in Arthur's head in stead of John. Yellow said the lighter's saying even before knowing of it.

I almost feel like the lighter might be slightly possessed by original Noel. Just not enough to be noticed by the entities around Arthur.
