hehehe ok, so I’ve been listening to ‘Call Them Brothers’ by Regina Spektor and it’s gotten me thinking about Cylvin’s relationship with Solas

So, Solas and Cylvin more often than not do not get along on a fundamental basis. Solas who desperately wants to explain the real history of the elves, and Cylvin who hates having such things explained to him as though he doesn't already know them. The first thing Solas sees when they meet is Cylvin's vibrant red Vallaslin proudly adorning his face, and Solas feels a mix of disdain and pity for him. Disdain he understands, but Cylvin doesn't want pity, especially not from the person who so freely disavows his own people. To him, if either were deserving of pity, it was Solas; so stuck in the Fade and in the past, he can't connect with real people. Cylvin sometime wonders if Solas even has a real stake in the fight against Corypheus.

But I think in spite of this, there is, in rare moments, a sort of kinship between them. They both understand the weight of a title unwanted, even if Cylvin doesn't know it, and Solas does often feel something adjacent to admiration for Cylvin's stubborn kindness and pride in his culture. And Cylvin could sometimes find respect in Solas' conviction to his beliefs, even though it often put the two at odds.

Cylvin tries to close the metaphorical gap between them, listens to Solas' stories, shares quiet conversations in elvhen, tells him things he knows would dishearten any of the others in the Inner Circle. But like most things in their relationship, it feels like trying to fit the pieces of two different things back together. Sometimes the pieces look like they almost fit, but at the end you will not have a whole by any stretch of the imagination. In the days leading up to the final battle with Corypheus, Cylvin asks if they might have been friends under different circumstances, Solas lies and says yes.

HI!!! AUGGHHHJHH THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH T__T my art style is kinda simple imo so my process is pretty bare-bones ^^;; there's not rly much too it!! it also kinda changes depending on how uhhhh lazy im feeling in the moment HAHA

probably around half of my drawings are straight to line art bc they're rly just doodles or things i decide to draw without any planning (but also im kinda impatient so i try to skip the sketching step if i can LOL...). but if i DO have a specific pose in mind for a drawing, i'll start with a sort of mannequin sketch or loose pass, then depending on how messy it is, ill either do the lineart pass on the layer on top or duplicate the sketch and then clean it up.

and then my coloring process is not sophisticated at all i just create a new layer and then paint bucket tool away LMAOOOO

Kim leans in close, lips grazing the mic.

"A knife."

He's not sure how the mic works, he's not used to this set up. This is only maybe his second proper interview. But his answer seems like it came across strong and clear.

The host is looking at him.

"...a knife?"

Well yeah. It's a deserted island.

"What would you use it for?" The host is trying to sound upbeat and chirpy.

Kim raises a brow. "For hunting." Maybe other things, who knows. He's good with a knife.

"Uhhh okay, very useful! What else would you bring? Remember it's a deserted island! Maybe your phone? A guitar?”

"A lighter. Fire's good. Useful." He explains it this time, this host seems to need that. Kim thinks maybe he's a bit dense.

"Ahhh. Okay sure, I get it! You're a survivalist! Do you watch any survivalist shows? Any tips?"

What? No he doesn't. Kim scowls. But fine, he can be chatty. P’Mod told him to be chatty. He leans close to the mic again. “My tip would be, make sure the knife you bring is a good one. Balanced, good for throwing. You might need it for multiple uses."

The host is a bit big eyed. He nods at Kim, a little shakily.

Okay, Kim nods back. This is working, he's being chatty. "Here." Kim reaches into his pocket and brings out his favorite switchblade. Snicks it out. "This one's good-  it's my favorite brand, and the tip is strong. Resists a lot of throwing. Keeps its point well."

There's an almost soundless noise from the host, a weird little rasp. He's nodding his head again, scooting his chair back, fast.

A movement catches his eye. P’Mod is waving frantically through the glass, hand viciously jerking through the air in a fast motion. Kim squints.

He doesn’t know what exactly she means. It looks like she's motioning…a throwing movement? Huh? Okay, he could throw it, maybe a demonstration would be good.

After, with the host wide eyed and saying, a little high pitched and nasally, oh don’t worry - the wall’s easily repaired and wow. That knife sure got in there deep, huh?

Well after that, and after P’Mod shaking their head, apologizing to the staff, she grabs Kim and drags him out of the room, down to the break room.

"Holy shit kid, what the fuck. You are so lucky that was radio."

She pinches her brow, sighing heavily, a little bit in shock. "New rule. And I can't believe I have to say this- but from now on? No knives on set.”

1,3, 4, 24 and 25 for Kyrahlise and Blade for the OCxLI OTP asks!

When I saw your ask I had to do a double-take, because I figured that you’d ask about Kyrah and Chase! But Kyrahlise and Blade are fun too! And so frustrating before they get together, lol! Now, without further adieu, here are the answers to the Romance Asks *dramatically gestures towards the answers*

1. What drew your character to their LI and vice versa?

Blade was drawn to Kyrahlise because she’s kind, hardworking, always trying to do what’s right, and keeps improving her combat abilities and magic. She also acts like she feels at ease around him and teases him. (Which gets to my headcanon that he likes it when people aren’t afraid of him and act normal around him.) 

Kyrahlise was drawn to Blade because despite all he’s done and seen, he’s still very kind and considerate. Also he’s incredibly fun to tease! He respects her abilities and knowledge, and she feels safe speaking her mind to him because he gives what she has to say due thought. What seals the deal is in Chapter 4 when he’s so angry about what happened to her. It’s been a long time since anyone has given a shit if she were safe, or wanted to protect her.

3. When they are having a fight, what is it about and how do they deal with it? 

The number one thing these two would fight about is Kyrahlise feeling like Blade is overprotective of her, and Blade feeling like she is too independent and reckless. Once Kyrah understands just how scared he is of losing her, and that he needs to know she’s safe, she’s going to take a long hard look at how she acts. She’ll agree to work on making her safety a higher priority, and communicating better before she runs off. When Blade realizes that she feels a little stifled and like he doesn’t fully trust her, I’m sure he’ll agree to reign in his protectiveness to some degree. Of course it’s something they both have to work on to find a balance, but they will eventually.

The silly thing about this argument is that she likes that he’s protective, and he likes that she’s independent and wants to tackle problems! They just both think the other takes it too far.

4. Their favorite physical feature on each other?

According to Lena, romanced!Blade loves MC’s eyes, hair, and lips (or just face in general), and we know he’s into a nice butt! I change my mind regularly as to which is his favorite, but right now I'm going to say her eyes!

Kyrahlise loves Blade’s smile! It fills her with joy to see him happy and relaxed enough to genuinely smile. She has an internal ‘got the stoic, ex-assassin to smile’ counter! Overall she thinks he’s a very beautiful and handsome man, but his smile is her favorite.

24. Is there any moment that happens between them that you know happens and just makes you melt? 

One time Kyrahlise sat on Blade’s lap briefly as he’s working to tell him something and give him a little kiss before getting up to read. (He’s a head taller than her, so she uses whatever she can to make it easier to kiss him!) But Blade doesn’t want her to go, so she’s like “fine, I’ll just read here” thinking that he’ll eventually get tired of her sitting on his lap. She severely underestimates how much he likes having her close. But he’s warm, and she feels very safe and cozy, so she falls asleep. Since he doesn’t want to wake her up, he stops working. And he’s probably having a hard time not staring at her because he thinks she’s very cute!

25. Share any headcanons about their relationship.

As soon as Blade lets her, Kyrahlise starts cutting his hair. She secretly thinks his haircut is atrocious. Though once she gives him a better haircut she realizes she played herself because now he looks even more handsome! (Kyrah’s been cutting her own hair since her mother died. Most people can’t be trusted to cut curly hair right, and she’s a touch vain about her hair.)

They trade books of poetry with each other and then talk about which ones they like and why. It’s like a little book club with just the two of them!

Blade’s office stops looking quite so bare, because Kyrahlise makes him some art to put up. If anyone dares to criticize it or make any disparaging remarks about it in his presence they get his death glare!

hey, glad you like my blog!! i only made it this year, sort of on impulse because i was going through yet another emperor's new groove obsession and there's multiple blogs out there like this for my other favorite disney movies, but any similar blogs for ENG i could find hadn't been active in years. so i thought it'd be fun to start one myself. warning that i tend to ramble so this might get a little long.

this might be a bit of an obvious answer, but i think my favorite emotional moment might just be the scene toward the end when kuzco tells pacha he's decided not to destroy the village! i love how it manages to be both emotional and funny at the same time, with kuzco feeling the need to apologize in this snarky, indirect way and pacha knowing exactly what's up and going along with it, and then indirectly inviting kuzco to be his neighbor for the summer. it's so sweet.

no such thing as a stupid question! it's been a while since i saw kronk's new groove and i probably need to rewatch it. i do remember thinking last time i watched it that it was one of the better disney sequels, but also that kronk didn't need to have a love interest tbh? just because of the setup of kronk's papi wanting him to settle down with a wife and kids and a large house, and him being uninterested in those things and determined to stay true to his own groove. though i do love kronk and remember thinking it was cool how they expanded on his character. and i loved it whenever kuzco interrupted the movie and when he pretended to be kronk's fake wife, lol.

as for the emperor's new school... i actually have a lot more thoughts on it but i don't want to reply with a massive wall of text so i'll try to be as concise as i can here LOL. i'll also say that this is all just my own personal opinion and if anyone disagrees then that's totally cool! but the show kiiind of frustrates me and gives me a lot of mixed feelings because i don't like how kuzco is written in it. i get that people don't completely change overnight, but a lot of the time in the show he's just so mean and selfish and his development often gets reset so he can learn the same lesson again in another episode. he'll also have really sweet moments with malina but then go back to mistreating her. it just bugs me because i love him in the movie and i feel like the show could've handled him better while still having him be flawed.

but, on the other hand, the show is often laugh-out-loud funny and i'm really glad eartha kitt and patrick warburton returned to voice yzma and kronk in it, because they're the source of a lot of great comedy. i also think malina is a great character (she's surprisingly well-developed especially for a 2000s spin-off cartoon imo) and there are certain parts of her romance with kuzco that i find really endearing, plus she's headstrong and takes no shit from him, so i still ship them even though i dislike how he treats her sometimes. i also love the fact that kuzco moves in with pacha and chicha and pretty much becomes a part of their family. some of my favorite episodes of the whole show are the ones that center on that wholesome found family dynamic. i've been thinking of possibly making some gifs of my favorite moments from the series!

The winning option of yesterday's poll was that the adventurer should go on a 5 day journey to find the Innkeeper's weird brother who studies animals, and show him the Suspicious Egg….

The next morning he wakes early, buzzing with renewed purpose, and also minor back pain from sleeping on old potato sacks.. After a meager breakfast of more free leftover scraps, the Innkeeper stops him before he leaves, giving him a few extra supplies for the long journey, as she can tell he doesn't have much. He packs up and sets out onto the road once again, crumpled sketchy map in hand...

He has a fairly uneventful journey for the first day - waving at the occasional other travelers as they pass, cleaning his boots in a nearby pond, stopping to eat some dumplings whilst watching the sunset, and finally setting up a small tent a short ways off the main path, resting with his cat by a dim campfire until they both fall asleep......

The second day, however, does not start as smoothly.. Only a few hours further down the road, he's met with a large barricade, guarded by a group of what seems like elven soldiers from one of the larger surrounding cities of the area. Practicing his confidence, he puts on his best "brave face" (which to others, appears more as some sort of pained wince, like he might have something in his eye), shakily striding right up to the authority figures he is definitely not afraid of.

"Halt, traveler! You cannot pass."

He sways slightly, struggling to keep his wobbly legs under control, "OH, y-yEAH, ssorry, I was-, hh, I was just walking, ~o-out for a stroooll~, haha, so I .. uh.. o-okay. That's.. okay. But, uh.. could, can.. euh.. C-can I ask why? like... why the, uh... blocking off.. of ... the um.. the-"

"Unfortunately, we are not at liberty to disclose any information on the nature of this current road closure. Our sole duty is to maintain security of the barrier."

"hhHeh, ye.. eAh, for sure, I-I get that.. Duty is.. really so... important in ... today's world.. gotta, um.. do the duties.. or, uh.. .. yeah, but.. so, uhhh... wh-Do you know.. maybe, uh... H-how long you'll, like... be here? guarding... and such...??"

"We'll be here as long as we need to be here."

"...O-okay.. but, like.. uh... any,,.... time estimate? hahahehhh?? like, uh.. a day, or... two, or um...??"

"This matter does not concern you, traveler. Move along."

"Aoh, yeahgh, I.. totally.. totally.. it, uh.. Well.. but it kind of does though,, right? B-because I do, in fact, actually have to go down that road at some p-point sssoo, um,... uh.. I-"

"I said move along."

The guard abruptly takes a step forward, causing The Adventurer to yelp as if he'd been hit, tripping over his own feet and scrambling off on hands and knees, lunging into bushes near the rocky roadside.. After exchanging a confused glance, the guards both shrug, resuming their stoic positions at the barrier.

The Adventurer watches from the uncomfortable safety of some berry brambles, surveying the area at a distance and desperately trying to work out how he can still get where he's trying to go. The map given to him by the Innkeeper is pretty straightforward, not showing alternate paths. Based on his primary map, he could maybe think of a few detours, but he's anxiously unfamiliar with the area... How should he proceed?

Additional Details - (I decided whenever he gets new items or goals or something, I'll list them at the end just to keep track)

items + to inventory (from the Innkeeper): 2 lunchboxes of vegetable dumplings, 2 canteens of water, a box of tea, one rope, 1 pouch of dried meat, 4 candles, a hand-drawn map

main goal: get to the abandoned castle ruins to see the rare animal specialist about the egg

I just had a lot going on the past few days #the story tidbit of this one is slightly longer again because you need spaces to break up dialogue and etc. but much shorter #than the other one still and pretty concise. I tried to leave out a lot of detail and just give the bare minimum again lol #Hopefully his speaking style isn't too grating also ghbjhb.. I'm more familiar with writing dialogue for like.. people to say out loud so #to me I'm always trying to hear it in my head and write eveything exactly how it would be spoken. and to me it sounds fine #if you act it in the exact voice I'm envisioning and have a distinct speaking style where you pause or drag #out words in a specific way - like with particualr cadence and comedic timing - it sounds fine #I'm just not sure if that translates to text as well lol #But he doesn't actually talk often. the past two times have been exceptions since he keeps running into people #And he'll have to talk if he ever actally makes it to the Innkeeper's brother. But most obstacles on the road #are probably prettyy easily dialogue free #ANYWAY... #Love his dramatics.. Imagine if you just take one step towards someone and they scream and throw themselves #onto the ground and run away gjhhjbj #the cat just leisurely trotting over to catch up with him because they're not actually scared #anyway.. ! day 7.. that's like a whole week! except it's been over a week since sometimes it takes me like 2 days lol

this is an interesting point, because it's probably true that bryke did not intentionally imbue atla with incisive gender politics. that said, i don't care whether or not it was intentional; my point still stands. when i interpret the gender dynamics of a text, the notion of whether the author was influenced by a conscious decision to include such commentary or was rather influenced by unconscious biases that informed the characters and worlds is irrelevant to me. i am analyzing the text itself. if i wanted to analyze the authors' intentions, i would do so, but that is simply not what i'm doing when i make posts such as these.

furthermore, your point that azula is not framed sympathetically is one i just straight up disagree with. obviously this is a very subjective claim, but i definitely think that azula is shown to be a sympathetic character within atla (whether or not bryke sympathize with her is another story). episodes like "the beach" and "sozin's comet" show the tragic effects of her upbringing and the emotional/psychological damage of ozai's abuse. people might treat azula with a sexist double standard both within the show and outside of it, but i don't think that means she's framed unsympathetically, unless you mean that she's framed as a villain, which i can't argue with nor would i want to. she is a villain. a sympathetic villain, but a villain nonetheless.

2. "aggression very much seemed to be the order of the day in the FN in Kyoshi’s time, even amongst women ; Sozin  just harnessed & directed that energy outwards towards the FN’s neighbours, rather than towards rival FN clans. The books suggest that super avoidant characters like Roku & Iroh were in fact the cultural anomalies" + "a whole nation doesn’t just wake up one day & choose violence, and it’s unrealistic to blame systemic issues on one person (Sozin)"

i've read the kyoshi novels, and i like them. as you say, the fire nation citizens behaved aggressively towards rival clans. but by the time of roku and sozin, there were no rival clans. roku was completely secure in his status as a high ranking nobleman, and thus had no reason to show aggression or competitiveness. since he was sixteen, he was taught to be an impartial mediator who made choices that were best for the sake of the world, rather than for one nation. the fact that he isn't able to remain impartial is actually what ruins his legacy, specifically because he lets sozin off the hook in the name of their past friendship.

obviously sozin tapped into preexisting cultural expectations and systems, but i think he'd be a bit offended to hear that you can't attribute his fascist regime to one person. fascism never comes out of nowhere–my guess is that the state of the world steeply declined after kyoshi's death, and sozin capitalized on those anxieties by presenting himself as a pillar of strength for his citizens to emulate–and a culture that values displays of aggression and power is far more likely to adopt imperialist ideals than say, if an air nomad suddenly tried to implement fascism among their community. but it's clear that sozin wants to be seen as the individual who shaped the fire nation in his image, even if it was already mostly there to begin with. i don't think it's unfair to attribute the fire nation's shift into becoming an imperialist power to sozin, considering that he did have the power of absolute ruler and it was 100% his decisions which led to the genocide and colonization of the other nations. the fire nation may have long been an image-obsessed, power-hungry, aggressive, violent, and individualistic place, but sozin was able to stoke those values to achieve an ends they might not have considered were he not their ruler, and that counts for a lot.

i'm an office manager which means that i'm responsible for all the paperwork (all invoices go through me), calls and emails. and i act like an assistant to basically everyone in our office. including shit like booking flights and hotels and taking care of everyone's cars and insurances etc. buying office supplies, taking care of how our office looks, making tea & coffee for guests, booking rooms, making sure our management signs the papers on time etc. etc. etc.

doesn't sound that bad but the 'acting like an assistant' is tricky. because i get like 20 daily requests from people to take care of something asap. like, paying a fine, calling some place to ask about something, scheduling a meeting, making changes in booking, registering a car etc.

now it's extra stressful bc i'm organizing a christmas party for 120+ people and it's not easy when you need to book hotels for 30 people, book a restaurant, decide on a menu, confirm attendance etc. and your guests are dickheads who don't care if you have to change their reservation 4 times in 3 days.

#and there is no one who can replace me when it's needed. like when i took a week off it took me another 2 weeks to catch up with work #because some things are easy but it would take weeks of training to thoroughly prepare someone to do my job #and no one has time for this because they have their own jobs and duties #but despite this my coworkers help me as much as they can :') and they really support me #there's only one department full of shitheads and 90% of my problems originate there lmao most of the company hates them #tbh most of my problems would be solved if they just hired another person and split the work between us but #it's always been one person so 🤡 #and sometimes it gets really calm and i don't have anything to do for a few hours. it's been months since something like that happened but #it happened a few times in the past lol #answered #i really can't quit this job because it pays well (i mean for a person with no degree). and out of obligation. #i need to finish my degree because now there's no way i would find something that could pay my rent 😭 #but i promised myself i won't stay here for longer than 2 years unless they offer me a different position #but until then you have to listen to my complaining every day agkdgjdfj sorry
