gymposting under the cut bc ik i'll ramble
i am not sure if a full body routine is for me bc today felt a lot more upper body focused. also i might just not have the stamina lmao. i don't feel like i can go heavy on enough exercises bc i will inevitably get fatigued after the first 2 unless i go lighter. even when i start with a lower body exercise and i go upper->lower->upper etc. my shoulders were quite fatigued ...
idk it feels like it lacks focus and i have to think more when im in the gym. also there's so many exercises that i should do in a full body routine as opposed to like 2 to 4 main exercises i have for lower/upper days. the main exercises i do every time and the additional ones i rotate (so a leg press movement (squats variation, leg press machine etc) and a hip hinge movement (deadlift or hip thrusts) are the main ones that i do every lower body day. and they are also very tiring which makes sense bc im using the biggest muscles in my body and squats and deadlifts are extra tiring... it's kind of hard to fit them into a full body routine if i wanna go heavier. that's just me tho.
tho there are some exercises from today's workout that i will put into my regular routine. inverted rows i am a fan of especially bc they'll help me work up to pull-ups eventually. also i think they put less stress on my lower back than a seated cable row (which is still a good exercise)
i swear i will get over this phase of like consuming a lot of fitness related content etc eventually but rn i feel like i need all the help i can get algkskhls. you really have to find good youtubers tho. even my faves contradict eachother (i think it's the science vs experience based content). but i am very happy there are free resources out there. i do like to focus on science based advice and ppl who are experts on good form (usually ppl who have years of experience and maybe had terrible form in the past and injuries bc of that.. it is good to learn from other ppl's mistakes).
i thought figuring out my own routine would be difficult but i just took some example routines and maybe switched out some exercises for alternatives i actually enjoy and work with my anatomy lol (i am too short for half the machines). i feel like im on the right track rn with my motivations and the way im going about it. im actually enjoying myself a lot. it's a nice hobby and ofc i feel like talking about it a lot alvkLhls i thought I'd get bored but nope not yet. sorry if im annoying <3

Actual NSFW headcanons for the demon brothers (part 3)
Hey!!! As promised this is part 3 of the actual NSFW headcanons, I’ll probably take a break from making more part in this series simply because I’m running out of ideas 😅  It’s definitely not over, just until I can get forward into the game. I have more stuff coming out soon so keep an eye out!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
I said it once, and I’ll say it again: Levi has two dicks
He also has a split tongue
Even tho Beel is quite muscular his body is not like a body builder type, he has the soft healthy muscles that are soft to cuddle
This is basically because he doesn’t starve or cut fats out of his diet (clearly)
Belphie’s everything is super soft and silky, his hair, his skin, his voice… he is just a soft boi all around
Lucifer has two scars underneath his shoulders blades, they’re very thing but raised. He is quite self-conscious of them and that’s why he never takes his shirt off
The first time Lucifer had sex with MC he kept his shirt on, he just let them unbutton it
Satan is quite muscular in his arms and upper body, but has a teeny tiny tummy that is super nice to lay on
Asmo’s body is the least toned one out of all the brother, he is soft all around the edges
It makes him self-conscious and that is why he is always trying to lose weight but is just how his body is shaped
I headcanon the brothers to have a different anatomy when they are in their demon form versus their human form
In their human form their dick are just very big but resemble a normal human one
But when they are transformed… it's a different story
Think bad dragon dildos
Mammon has a nice round butt and really nice thighs
They can have sex in their human form, but their demon form comes out sometimes with really strong emotions
So it’s not weird for them to turn mid-sex
Yes MC freaked out the first time it happened, but now they know its normal, and it means they are enjoying themselves a lot
I stated that Levi likes fucking people with his tail, and Satan loves the idea, but is afraid of doing it with MC
He knows the shape of his tail is hard to take in and out, and he doesn’t want to hurt MC
Belphie and Asmo are the least muscular ones out of all of them, but Belphie has more of a tummy than Asmo does because he loves sweets and doesn’t exercise much
Levi has a six-pack, and is quite toned because he swims around a lot with Henry 2.0
Beel has the biggest dick out of all of them
Asmo has the smallest, but it still is bigger than an average human one
He is also the one that doesn’t need his dick (or just touch) to make someone cum
He has the prettiest dick tho
They all have very sensitive spots all over their bodies but the common ones for all of them are the horns
They all like their hair played with because of that reason
Letting someone touch their horns, even though it feels amazing, it's a very intimate thing, so they don’t just let anybody do it
When in his demon form, Lucifer wraps his wings against his partner, sort of making a cocoon for the both of them during sex
A big turn on for Mammon is to have his thighs touched, all MC has to do is put their hand on his knee, and he almost comes undone right then and there
Even though Beel’s wings look very fragile they are quite strong, he loves having them stroked and touched during sex, it’s one of the easier ways to make him cum fast
The most experienced in bed besides Asmo is Lucifer because believe or not he is the one that communicates the best in bed (I’ll expand on this soon!)
The brother with the most people thirsting after them is Beel, and then Mammon
Asmo hates this and has thrown full-on tantrums over it
Asmo likes snooping inside his brothers rooms in case he catches them with something raunchy
He has caught Satan with an erotic book, Levi’s stash of hentai, Mammon’s nudes (that are mostly blurry because it was taken under the influence), Belphie’s ropes…
Beel sometimes pops a boner while training with his teammates
Mammon strips when he is drunk, he has been found streaking more than once after a party, both in the Devildom and in the human realm
When they were angels they still engaged in sexual encounter and intercourse, they just felt guilty after doing it
Asmo was the less promiscuous when they were in the celestial realm, Beel and Belphie where the most behind everyone’s backs (mostly Belphie)
Satan has had the least amount of partners out of all of them, not because he can not find them but more because he likes time by himself
Lilith was very easily impressionable and not afraid to get into trouble that’s why her and Belphie where the ones that were around humans the most, making them to be the ones that had more sex with humans that any of the others
Actually only them had sex with humans prior to becoming a demon
The first person that Lucifer had a sexual attraction to was Michael, it never amounted to anything even though Michael was more than willing
Levi really likes when people play with his tail, even mindlessly while they are doing something else. It doesn’t even have to be in a sexual way, he definitely doesn’t mind if it is… but you know
Mammon loves getting attention from MC, any way he can get it is good, he wants to have their hands on his body constantly
Asmo’s weak spot is his lower back, the most innocent touch there makes him weak in the knees, and he will exaggerate the emotion 10/10 just so he can get the other person to hold him
Belphie sleep talks a lot, he does things in general while asleep, but he fantasizes a lot out loud without knowing it
Beel knows it and has a field trip when he catches him at night, it's good that Belphie responds to his questions rather coherently

🖊 henry??
Henry is a the biggest of the nerds, but a really hot one
He's really sweet and drinks the good old Respect-Women-Juice
"All women are queen"
He's the quiete type who likes to read books in the corner, but every girl interrupts him to ask his number, that's why he doesn't go to parties
Responsible dad
D-dad joke s....
Dad
Actually straight, but would go out with a guy if that meant not hurting his feelings, he'd keeo saying they're just friends tho, and that happens a lot to girls too
He's somehow buff, he doesn't exercise too much but he has a nice body
He has a big crush on Nicole
Has matching piercings with her
Dad
I drew him, but the anatomy and the coloring are bad, his glasses look terrible too, but here's our big nerdy boy

February 12th-February 18th, 2020 Reader Favorites Archive
The archive for the Reader Favorites chat that occurred from February 12th, 2020 to February 18th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
When applicable, what about a creator’s art might convince you to check out their comic?
carcarchu
I like a wide range of art styles so it's hard to pinpoint specifics but if an artist is able to draw very attractive looking characters (recognizable character designs, outfits that don't look like they came out of 2004 gap catalogue, characters that can still be recognized even when they change their hair style) then i find that very appealing. beyond that how well an artist can integrate the characters with the actual space they exist in is something i find very important as well. a bunch of floating heads can only carry a series so far. if the artist can make the characters feel like they properly exist in the space i think it can really elevate the series although in practice this is something very difficult to do.
Deo101 [Millennium]
For me, honestly some art styles are very inspiring to me and that will sometimes get me to read just because I want to see the art more and learn from it. Things like textures, colors, character design... It can draw me in just by exciting me as a learning opportunity
chalcara
For me art‘s the hook and story the line. Come for the art, stay for the story, you know?
Funnily I‘m looking less for pretty art and more for good visual story telling. I want the art to show whats going on without having to rely on dialogue.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I'm honestly very picky about art styles when it comes to comics, and that's a personal issue It has some to do with art styles being attractive to me, but honestly, the most important aspects of a creator's style to me are (1) consistency of style and anatomy, (2) level of completion, and (3) clear communication of what's happening. When it comes to whether or not I check out the comic initially, the main things that come into play with the promotional materials, covers, and/or thumbnails are contrast of the image and cleanness of the rendering. Of course, obviously, my personal tastes play into it. (I tend to like semi-realistic styles, sort of anime-ish but with a twist, or painted styles that may resemble concept art.) But honestly, probably more important than grabbing me initially to begin reading is readership retention. And that's where the 3 qualities I look for come into play: (1) Consistency of style and anatomy: This is probably the most important part for me as a reader. If I can't tell who is who because the characters change appearance from panel to panel, I'm ducking out, because that affects the clarity of storytelling. I also cringe everytime I see a particularly egregious anatomy error. I know what people look like. I see them every day. If I feel pain from looking at an artist's work, I'm not sticking around. (To be fair, everyone makes some kind of anatomy mistakes, but really it's if the anatomy mistakes are really awful to me and aren't as a result of a deliberate style CHOICE. Keyword, C H O I C E.) (2) Level of completion: This really just means that if it looks like the artist rushed through the panels or they were being lazy, I feel like their comic isn't worth my time. I mean, if an artist themselves doesn't care about their work, why should I?(edited)
. (3) Clear communication of what's happening: Once again clarity of storytelling is absolutely essential. If the composition of a large portion of the panels don't clearly show the actions of the characters, I can't follow the story. Aaaaaand as a bonus: Please, please, for the love of all powers that be, please, make your fonts legible. If I can't read the comic without squinting because your text is too tiny or hard to read, I'm not going to try. I have bad eyesight as it is. Take pity on your readers. I'm not going to suffer for your work. I have dropped far too many comics to count because the creator didn't care enough to make sure that the font was legible. And this applies to both desktop view, mobile view, scrolling format, and page to page format. Just.... Make your fonts big and clear.(edited)
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
That's interesting to think about how recognizable characters are when their hair style changes. I might try to use that as a character building exercise
Deo101 [Millennium]
Solid excercise: can you tell them all apart when they're bald and naked?
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
OoooooooOOOOOOOOOOHHHH
I
Might partake that challenge
Deo101 [Millennium]
Also it's really fun to draw characters in all sorts of hair and clothes so idk what id do if I couldn't tell them apart when doing that!!! That's like 40% of my art!
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
This just convinces me more and more to do AU art
Deo101 [Millennium]
Yeah aus are another 20% of what i draw LOL
Look im drawing the comic most of the time so I wish to partake in non canon things the rest
carcarchu
@sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD) i've read series before where the character gets a hair cut / dyes it and i'm like WHO ARE YOU? IS THIS A NEW CHARACTER?
Deo101 [Millennium]
Oh another good excercise is drawing your Characters in many different styles and seeing if they remain unique when not in yours.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I want to do all of this
This is stuff I hardly ever have time for
So I am extra attracted to it
Also, there IS a time later in the comic where a certain character's hair gets partially burned off
And then he cuts it pretty short to get rid of the singed edges
And I feel like his hair is like 80% of his character design
So I'm just a little scared about that
Deo101 [Millennium]
Also, @Cronaj (Whispers of the Past) , I am unsure what you mean by "readership retention" with something that makes you interested in a comic, could you explain?(edited)
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
By readership retention, I mean aspects of the art that decide whether I'll continue reading past the first few pages
(obviously story comes into play as well, but I won't pretend that the art in the first few pages of a comic don't contribute)
Deo101 [Millennium]
Oh okay, I thought you meant like how many readers have unfollowed or something
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Nah
More like, "oh cool! Your cover and blurb seem interesting. Lemme check out the comic!"
And then after reading the first few pages/chapter:
"ah... Not for me." Or "Nice, I'll keep reading!"
Deo101 [Millennium]
Gotcha
Capitania do Azar
Ohh I don't feel like dissing particular artsyle choices, but I know a few aren't for me. I'm no big fan of ultra realistic, hyper detailed stuff you usually see in super hero comics (other genres pick that style too sometimes and I still don't really appreciate). I particularly like artstyles that are distinct and recognizable, I have a hard time with stuff from different authors that just looks... Like a carbon copy (sometimes, the style being referenced is waaay too obvious and that is always a big no for me) Good use of color is key. Give me some good values too. I want colors to make sense and I am very tired of pink. I also appreciate consistency. If you give me artwork with a more paintery style but then the comic is cellshaded, that might tip me off. But not necessarily (tho I appreciate inner consistency inside the comic itself). Rushed stuff, like mentioned above, is also not a good look, but only insofar as it distracts me from what's happening in the story. Consistency is a very important word here, because I love seeing a common line that is able to take in all the differences that are necessary in character design and backgrounds, but also make me believe that they all could live in the same world.
Oh! And also: if the artstyle involves using lineart, I am really fond of sharp, clear lines with weight variation
sagaholmgaard
I'm curious about what you guys mean with consistency- do you guys not like if an artist's art style changes over the several years it might take to make a finished webcomic? Is it that it peeves you when the backgrounds are done in, say, a painterly style while the characters are done with lineart? Is it when the artists makes ordinary illustration work in a completely different style from their comic pages? (This is genuine curiosity I hope no one's feeling attacked rn ^^)
carcarchu
i personally really like seeing an artist's skills improve and evolve over the many years it takes to draw a series
even at the expense of a more "consistent" final product
sagaholmgaard
Yeah me too, it's one thing i really like about webcomics
chalcara
Can‘t talk about the others, but I get thrown off when one page is sprite comic, the next painterly, third cell-shaded without having a in-story-reasons for those style changes, like flashbacks or pov-changes. But more commonly, the issue’s the classic „comic‘s usually coloured, but oops, this time you only get the pencils because I had no time to update“. If that happens too often and/or doesn‘t get fixed for the archive I just lose investment in the comic.
Art evolution is natural, both in webcomic and published work with a dedicated artist.
Ah, that‘s another source of inconsistency - people switching colourists or even artists around. Once in a while is fine, but if it happens every month or so, I tend to get annoyed by it. It‘s actually why I killed my first webcomic twenty years ago; it was a collaberation and life kept getting in the way forcing me to switch colourists every five pages or so.
carcarchu
oh actually i have read a webcomic where they changed artist's 18 chapters in. i really fell in love with the magical and dark tone of the original artist and was engrossed in the world that they set up. they had a painterly style and it really set the atmosphere of the entire series but then the new artist had a super clean and cutesy art style and the sudden tonal shift really threw me off. in the long run the new artist was actually extremely consistent and better at actually releasing long chapters and very good quality chapters and the writing actually improved too because of it but it was never able to recapture what it was that i really loved about the original art style. also the new artist changed the character designs a little so the heroine was no longer even recognizable as the same person
since it was relatively early in the series i definitely would have preferred if they just got the new artist to actually redraw the first 18 chapters in the new style just so the change wouldnt be so incredibly jarring
chalcara
Any harsh breaks like that will cause some people to break away from the comic, I found. I dumped one of my favourite-for-years comic because the creator got bored by their main character and completely sidelined her in favour of a group of minor characters I had absolutely no interest in.
Didn‘t mean the comic got worse - by all accounts its still beloved by quite a sizable audience - it just wasn‘t for me anymore.
sagaholmgaard
Ahh that I can relate to. I get super attached to the main character and usually have a hard time getting into any spinoffs with the rest of the cast, even if I want to (and im a hypocrite because i also want to make spinoffs for ever side character in my own comic LOL) i guess if the style changed a LOT from page to page that would throw me off too. that feels like the artist is trying to experiment, maybe making sort comedic comic strips would be more acceptable then? Every style would at least be contained to one strip at least
DanitheCarutor
That's... actually a really good question. I don't really go for a specific aesthetic. Sometimes what's going on in the thumbnail attracts me, or it could be the use of color, the style, a character design. I'll check out a comic with just about any art style. I guess maybe if I have an idea of what the creator is going for with their art? Like, the art may have a lot of kinks, but maybe being able to tell what style they're trying to go for makes me want to check out their work? Honestly, I don't have a really strong art bias, as long as the comic is readable I'll go for almost anything. Maybe I won't check something out if the style looks extremely uninspired... like if it were the most generic, based off Japanese cartoons, style ever then I might give it a pass. But even then I do sometimes check it out anyway, so I really don't know! This question is surprisingly hard to answer! To give my last quip about last week's topic, since I don't want to derail the current one. I feel the creator's personal life is no one's business. I understand if they're a legit bad person, but digging into a creator's life to see if they qualify to be supported is... I dunno. This mindset makes me feel that if someone who liked my work ever tried to get to know me, they would be doing it solely to see if I'm good enough for them, which feels really invasive and predatory. I fully understand most people can't just enjoy something, that's how the world is, it just kinda sucks sometimes. The world kind sucks sometimes. Alright! I'm doing with giving my final thoughts on that subject.(edited)
Deo101 [Millennium]
The question is specifically about what draws you to art, rather than what turns you away so if you don't want to rag on any art styles that's not what it was asking for I think! Though yes it's very closely related (and it's not bad to say what you don't like)
Eilidh (Lady Changeling)
I definitely am more likely to read a comic that has a distinctive style - no particular style preferences, really. Interesting use of colour/value is definitely a bonus. But as long as it's engaging and the composition is good/readable, I don't really mind whether the art is "good" or not.
DanitheCarutor
@Deo101 [Millennium] I wasn't trying to rag on anything. I couldn't specify what about someone's art would draw me to their comic, it was easier to the one thing that might not, but I still said that I may be drawn in regardless. Sorry if I came off like a douchebag, totally not my intention. <_<'
Deo101 [Millennium]
No I know, someone earlier said "I don't feel like dissi g particular styles" I'll be honest I was typing my post as you were and so I didn't even read yours til after I said something(edited)
Just kind of a general thing! Feels like it went to what turns us away instead of what draws us in so just kinda a reminder of the op
sagaholmgaard
Readability is definitely important for me to want to continue following a comic, but what about the art that makes me want to read something...? I definitely have a preference toward cartoony styles overall. A solid character design will make me wanna check out a comic. If the main character has a recognizable silhouette and interesting shape language. I also love really bold lineart, especially if it's used to create shadow and contrast. Interesting color schemes too. I think how the background is drawn can really make me want to read something as well. I know BGs aren't people's favorite thing to draw but to me if the setting looks very well though out and designed, that definitely motivates me to check something out. And awe-inspiring sceneries are always hella cool! I read a lot of things outside of my artistic preferences though, but I think these are the things that might make me pick something up based only on the art itself.
keii4ii
I think I tend to find more appeal in certain compositions, which is a more subtle aspect of style. I am a major sucker for evocative use of backshots/ not-showing-the-(whole)-face, for one thing. Compositions that make full use of the three dimensional space around the figure(s) is another (this doesn't necessarily mean putting a lot of stuff around the character; you can have a mostly empty space and still make it feel very 3D).
(I hope both of those things show in my own works... I just love those things soooo much )
Deo101 [Millennium]
Oh I LOVE when a panel like... Cuts a face. Something about it makes me lose my mind every time
DanitheCarutor
@Deo101 [Millennium] Ooh! Lol sorry about that! I was so caught up with off computer stuff that I didn't notice anything else typing while I was. I haven't read the whole conversation yet, but I can see how it would turn to that. "What draws you in" is a hard topic to stay on. At least I imagine it would be since it's hard for me to talk about.
Ah! I admit I really like shots focused on scale, specifically ones were you can feel how tiny the MC is compared to what the camera is focused on. Does that make sense? Like the panel shows this ginormous thing, and it has the MC in it to show how massive it really is. That's awesome when done right.
Deo101 [Millennium]
Tiny little person. Yes. Very good
DanitheCarutor
Tiny people in giant worlds are the best!
keii4ii
I love those too!
DanitheCarutor
Oh, also this isn't a webcomic, but I've been interested in reading Vinland Saga after seeing this page on Twitter.(edited)
Something about extremely hideous expressions on semi-realistic faces jives with me.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
What draws me in easiest is the design aspect of characters, environment and the webcomic title! It's a bit of a turn off when the title doesn't look polished. That's one of the main draws for me is an intriguingly designed logo with a catchy name that follows through their chosen aesthetic. I've seen many comics that stand apart from the title image they chose and it's a bit jarring to see! Great examples of wonderful execution of these aesthetics are BlackOut City, O'Sarilho, Sink Your HookTeeth and Shadrunners(obvs there are many more) I have to agree with @sagaholmgaard about backgrounds! There are quite a few creators who avoid them and stick to simple colours and gradients that just dont keep me in the comic- though my fave genres include a lot of world building, so BGs in a romance may not be emphasized as much. Lastly, dynamic character design!! I love a wonderfully crafted cast that allows me to read the characters easily no matter what setting or outfit they're in. Also it's really random but i do love an artist who can draw really good shoes?? That is always a draw in for me (edited)
Capitania do Azar
Oh I meant it in the way that if you spend a lot of time experimenting with different styles and techniques, you'll never be good at any of them. Style and approach changing over time is, imo, inevitable and good :) @sagaholmgaard(edited)
@@FeatherNotes(Krispy) I constantly think my logo looks like crap next to other webcomics', so thank you (edited)
DanitheCarutor
Oh god, @FeatherNotes(Krispy). Titles and logos are legit my weakest point, that part of the comic creation process is the worst! I have this cosmic-horror/fantasy comic I've been developing since 2005, and it took me till just last year to come up with a decent title. It'll probably take another 14 years to come up with a passable logo. Lmao!
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
It is really hard! Because that image/logo and name represents the body of work so firmly, its also got to stand strong with what it's representing and stand up to other titles too! Basically, i like to think of something that will help generate top results when i search on google for the title, which to me helps it stand on its own on the web, and sound catchy enough for pitches in person! I don't want to steer the convo away too much from the prompt, but there is definitely more to discuss about titles and their chosen aesthetics
varethane
@DanitheCarutor have you read Golden Kamuy? If you love hilariously hideous expressions in manga, it seems like it may be your jam lol
(it's also set in a specific historical period and contains a lot of really interesting material about the time/place it takes place in)
Also I feel like I have never, even one time in my life, come up with a good title for anything-- both Chirault and Wychwood are placeholder titles that I used just to kinda name the story for myself, which I initially intended to change when something better came along, and then nothing ever did
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
I know I'm generally drawn into a comic if it's just... generally a visual feast? And it doesn't even have to be a beautiful feast - just... a feast! A super intriguing artstyle, beautiful or not, is something for my brain to pick apart and enjoy. Detailed backgrounds, intricate costumes, fascinating presentation/layout... all the way to crazy expressions and fun asides, and even some gory or scary bits to make me go EEK. Basically, if I'm reading it, and my hand is twitching with the prospect of drawing fan art, then I'm in for good.
DanitheCarutor
@FeatherNotes(Krispy) Urg that is such a nightmare! And there are only so many different styles you can do for a logo, and so many variations of words, it's like how there aren't any truly original stories anymore. I got lucky with the title for my current comic, it's the most generic thing ever, but fits in a tongue-in-cheek way. @varethane I've never heard of it, but the face compilations I'm seeing are intriguing! Man, I love stupid facial expressions.
Capitania do Azar
@varethane golden kamuy, I see you are a fellow of taste as well
varethane
(I love it so much)
Capitania do Azar
@DanitheCarutor oh idk about the "only so many things you can do with logos", I've seen amazing things in this world, if there's a limit I'm not seeing it
varethane
(I can always tell exactly when I was binging it because there's a big chunk of my phone's photo gallery that's all screencaps of Asirpa making dumb faces)
Capitania do Azar
@varethane guys shooting each other in the woods? I'm always in for that
DanitheCarutor
@Capitania do Azar Lol I guess? I can't see how you can have an infinite number of designs for writing, while still trying to keep it vaguely readable. But I really don't like lettering, so my imagination is hardcore lacking in that department.
Capitania do Azar
Lettering and logo design are their own fields of expertise, it's ok
meek
Hmm I'm similar to a lot of previous responses where I can't pinpoint a specific style or trend of art work that draws me in because the styles of comics I read differ incredibly. That being said, there are some things that I do look for to keep me coming back: 1) Consistency of style/anatomy: unless there's a specific reason for the general art style to change (not including semi-deformed or chibi versions of characters), I appreciate characters staying proportionate or just otherwise consistent throughout the comic. And art evolution isn't something that's at odds with consistency, it can actually help that by making characters more distinct and easier to distinguish from each other. 2) Potential for art evolution: Almost the opposite of the previous point lmao but if I find a new comic and I see the latest page is of a much higher skill level than the first page, I'm immediately hooked. I want to see the journey. And I want to see how far that journey goes, even past the point where the art "gets good". There's at least one comic that I can think of where once it hit the style that it wanted to, the art has stayed consistent for the past several years but so much so it's almost plateaued and become stagnant. It's still good art, by all means! But I want to see it grow and evolve more. 3) Good panel/speech layout: Okay it's not quite art in the same sense but someone else mentioned this above and I think it's important too? There are so many comics I can think of that I couldn't read or I dropped off at a point because reading was a chore, either because of giant or unsightly speech bubbles, tiny or ill-fitting font, a combination of the two, etc. Sure, graphic design and layout is a skillset completely different from pure illustration, but it's one worth knowing because otherwise you could do a disservice to your art and your story.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
@meek Seriously, the text is so important to me, and I consider it a large part of page layout and design
meek
Agreed!! It's something that bothers me with printed comics all the time. I've tried to read so many "classic" graphic novels and I just.. I can't get past the giant text boxes with small font with miniscule kerning and ESPECIALLY if they then add color to it. Please, keep in mind your readers with reading difficulties But to turn this into a positive One of my favorite things that also helps make a comic feel more personal is when the creator turns their handwriting into a font or otherwise have FUN with the speech bubbles
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
YES. As someone with bad eyesight, typography is one of my favorite aspects of finishing a comic page.
Deo101 [Millennium]
It also is super important for me with ADHD, reading is hard enough as is! so bubble layout and clarity can really bring the whole thing together and elevate a comic
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I tried that but got the feedback that my text is hard to read and the way i format my speech bubbles is distracting (: But some people have said they really like it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though I do think I could have done better with the font. I have good eyesight and bad handwriting do I think i have a much easier time reading weird text than many. Since you guys care so much about text, would you mind taking a quick glance at my comic and telling me how readable it is? It'd be nice getting feedback from random people as opposed to only my readers who felt strongly enough to leave a comment unprompted
meek
Oh man I have this specific panel in mind from some early 2006 Avengers comic of like.. what not to do Basically it was a bright yellow text box with this white/light blue font. It was just. It was a nightmare to read Oh sure!! Definitely send me a link
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Yep! Send me a link too! I'd love to help you out
I also have a good typography book to recommend if you're interested. I can drop it into #art_resources(edited)
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
Here is link: https://www.webtoons.comen/challenge/puppeteer/list?title_no=290620
Thanks for taking the time to give me critique!
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
The link's not working, but I can probably find it on Webtoon
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
And I think i dould find a typography book interesting, so yes please do send the link
Sorry, i think the link is missing a slash
Did we both delete the link
Deo101 [Millennium]
did we both delete a
yah
i got it

Thanks
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I found it
(The font is a bit small on mobile, but the font is fine?)

Wait can we move to shop talk?
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
(maybe we can have this discussion on shop talk channel? )
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Sure
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
OH LOL
DanitheCarutor
@Capitania do Azar Oh god, they so are! I envy anyone who enjoys that craft, I'm a lot better than I was, but lettering is still so hard. ;v; At least the fancy stuff is hard, regular speechbubble lettering is easy as long as my hand cooperates.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
There's a book I had to read for a web design course I took, and it is seriously a life saver
It put text in a whole new perspective
DanitheCarutor
I do all my lettering traditionally, but maybe that book would be helpful, I legit hate doing it no matter what medium I use. (sorry for continuing to derail the channel.)
Capitania do Azar
@DanitheCarutor i used a website that converts handwriting to fonts + font forge for tweaks to get personalised fonts
DanitheCarutor
I used to type bubbles out, and I've thought about it for my current comic but I mix up words and letters really bad, and I forget to add words entirely while typing. It wouldn't be so bad if my brain saw the mistakes while rereading everything, although sometimes it takes a couple days or another set of eyes for me to actually see them. When I write the bubbles in with a pen I make a lot less mistakes since it takes more effort to write out each letter, also my brain can keep better track of the ones I do make. I feel like that's an excuse that makes no sense.
Deo101 [Millennium]
no it totally makes sense
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I can't say I'm ever especially drawn in by art? Besides the sense of "it looks like a lighthearted action story and I like lighthearted action stories", not much catches my eye. Though, I will drop a comic if I'm put off by the art. Like I can forgive if some things look janky at the start of the comic, but if that jankiness doesn't improve over time, I'll drop the comic. I'll also drop the comic if the character designs are bad (i.e. indistinguishable from each other, or in rare cases just too gross to look at). But again, I can't exactly say "good character designs draw me into the comic" because a lot of comic banners/thumbnails don't really show off full character designs.
chalcara
Varied bodytypes are catnip for me. And I like comics with expressive characters over comics that limit expressiveness to keep the characters pretty.
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
Oh, definitely agree with that second part. Comics where it looks like everyone has had a ton of Botox is a huge pet peeve of mine
Like, eyebrows are not the only part of the face that can move.
Do more
renieplayerone
Yeah i agree with the janky art thought. I think it helps me follow through the jank if i see that the later pages, the artist has shown growth, and i dont want to force anyone into a "gotta redraw it" loop if thats not something they want (of course everyone has their reasons and theyre also valid af) Ill tend to be more forgiving about the jank if i know its someones first webcomic or first comic in general, because you cant learn how to make comics without actually sitting down and making the dang thing. So yeah, the jank can be a double edged sword(edited)
What super draws me in is comics with a great sense of color. While i love anything vibrant, if the softer watercolors are done well, they're chefs kiss. Prime example of that is Stand Still Stay Silent
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I've been thinking about this question all week and I think I finally boiled my answer down to something short, sweet, and to the point. It's gotta be some kind of spooky and some kind of cute I have a pretty broad range of art styles I like and I definitely also read stuff that doesn't fall under those categories, but I think my favorite stories or artists are some blend of those two things. I don't really have a preference between color and greyscale. Like I definitely love a good color feast comic, but if you know how to use your grey tones or even just black and white well it's just as good for me. Maybe that's also just me trying to justify being mostly a greyscale artist to myself TuT
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
@mariah (rainy day dreams) devils candy would def be up your alley then!
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Devil's candy v good
renieplayerone
Devils Candy is amazing
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I love to combination of cute monsters and action also.
DanitheCarutor
@renieplayerone I'm not sure if it fits totally with your preference, but if you're looking for watercolor Lost Honey is gorgeous! https://www.losthoney.com/
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Lost Honey is another great comic great to look at, really interesting world
DanitheCarutor
It's one of my faves! ;v; There is another comic that was half watercolor half digital that I used to love reading (if I remember right pages set in the current time were digital, and backstory stuff was in watercolor.), but it has been discontinued for years now. It was called Toilet Genie/D00R, a comic about a genie who was locked in a public toilet and was awakened by a pug that got thrown out by her owners. It was so pretty, with such an interesting style!
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Oh wow I haven't thought about that comic in 5 years! X'D I didn't read much of it, because I don't think there was much of it available at the time, but yeah, that one was also very pretty (edited)
renieplayerone
Oh those colors are really pretty!!
DanitheCarutor
Right? Lost Honey is total eye candy. @mariah (rainy day dreams) Yeah, it's sad the creator never got to finish it. I think about it every so often since it's one of the extremely rare (semi)watercolor webcomics out there.
Also I'm extra attached to traditional mediums since I work in a traditional medium myself.
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Same. Got that ink wash/watercolor bias.
Eilidh (Lady Changeling)
My current comic is marker shaded but I so want to do something with ink wash after this one...
DanitheCarutor
Yeah, right now I'm working with color pencils since they're cheap but I want to give gouache or acrylic a try for my next project, depending on which story I do.
Kabocha
Hm, the question is... a lil' challenging to answer. I think in a lot of cases, the art isn't necessarily what gets me, but when it does -- Sometimes it's when someone uses a resource I like/made and I can go "OOOH! I know that thing you used!" Screentones are another one that gets my attention pretty quick. Sparkles... And probably effective spot color use. As much as I enjoy many full color webcomics, there are many that get tiring to try to read for one reason or another (usually it's either a font or a saturation issue - too many similarly saturated colors near one another gets tiring to read). Also, soft coloring. Oooh, just... when the art feels like it ought to be printed on those soft-touch covers... Yeah, that gets my attention. ...and watercolor/inkwash, too. ... okay that's a lot of things that grab my attention, but tl;dr: oh hey look at all that cool stuff that people can do!
mariah (rainy day dreams)
That was part of what was so hard for me thinking about this question cuz really, a lot of things get my attention X') and the more I thought about it the more I was like "I like when a comic is like X, but oh also Y is great and I do really enjoy Z as well!" I just ... like so many things. But I think that's better than being really picky. I've meet some folks that are super picky about art and basically only like one style and I'm just like... you're missing out on so many amazing things!
Kabocha
Right? And heck, even in some comics where the style would normally be unappealing (to me), there's just something about the art and the aesthetic that clicks to make it all work together for that project.(edited)
I do think, though, that there's always going to be a special place in my heart for greyscale or screentoned comics. There's just something about art that knows how to effectively make use of shading and contrast to make their work... well, work for me.
kayotics
Art is probably the first thing that draws me in to read a comic. The top, top tier thing that gets me to pay attention to a comic is really strong inks. I love inking, and unusual inking styles. To those who know me, that's probably incredibly unsurprising. I also love really angular styles. Some other stuff I gravitate towards: cartoony styles, expressive faces, and kind of ugly characters. I enjoy seeing characters that might be described as plain or are drawn in a bit of an ugly way. The last thing that draws me in? Hands. If an art style pays attention to hands, then I'm all for it.
mariah (rainy day dreams)
Does a comic have characters with big, crooked, toothy grins? I'm down for the count X'D https://media.tenor.com/images/618576ebcc4f6d2a12438624be77c54f/tenor.gif
varethane
oh hey, did someone mention webcomics done in ink wash/marker?
Chirault was that!
1367 pages of..... ink with greyscale marker..........
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
honestly blows me away that you toned it traditionally like, all of GJS is inked trad, but to ink AND tone in marker is just.....damn
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I love ugly characters
RebelVampire
When it comes to art, I'd say there are about four factors that will draw me in. First, readability. Can I visually follow wtf is going on in the comic? I have no interest in the visuals if I can't understand what action characters are taking. So the first point is always for if that is true. Second, character distinguishability. Can I tell one character from another? I am notoriously bad even in real life at being able to tell people apart, so when reading for fun, it's super important to me that I don't have to put a lot of effort into telling characters apart (exceptions for identical twins, of course). Third, personal appeal. Do I think the art is pretty or cute? Like, obviously this is subjective so I can't really put into words why I'd find one style appealing and the other not. But ya know, I like stuff I think is pretty to look at. Fourth, backgrounds. If a creator puts a lot of effort into their background scenery, I'm very sold on it. I love beautiful backgrounds, and the effort put into them give me an overall better impression of the comic as a whole. Since it takes some real passion to take care with backgrounds. All this being said, I'm not much of a stickler for art. If a comic is well-written enough, they can fail all these points and I'll still read it. This is just a list of what aspects have to be in the art for it to draw me in.
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
My points are pretty much the same as Rebel's, with the addition of a few things: I adore comics with dramatic facial expressions and consistently excellent anatomy. Also, if the art style is unique? If I feel like I've never seen someone draw that way before? That's ++. So good. I've read comics where I thought the art was good but the story was mediocre, but I've never read a comic where the art met all my points (and Rebel's), where it made me go, "holy fuck," audibly, and then had the story disappoint. Comics where the art made me go "holy fuck" audibly: Excecutioner's Academy: The art is so pointy and colorful and detailed and weird. It's full of personality and life and so are the characters. Warning: hiatus comic ): https://tapas.io/series/Ex-Ac Ava's Demon: You guys know about Ava's Demon, right? With original music and animations ending every chapter, this might be the most effortful comic I've ever seen. https://www.avasdemon.com/pages.php#2611 Sfeer Theory: Everyone looks so different from each other, it's fantastic. Some characters are not conventionally beautiful, yet they're still so appealing. And backgrounds! And a thought-out and unique magic system! https://sfeertheory.com/comic/01-00/ Electric Bones: Backgrounds! Banter! http://electricbonescomic.com/index.php/comic/page-001/ I also loved Prague Race, but unfortunately it was cancelled ):
If anyone else has recommendations for comics with amazing art, I'd love to hear them!
Cap’n Lee (Flowerlark Studios)
For me, it just has to be an art style I like to attract my attention. I generally like realistic art, stylised art, or pretty much any style that hasn’t been done to death (like generic anime art; much as I love manga, I’m really tired of the over-saturation of bland and soulless anime-inspired art). Pretty much anything unique and well executed will grab my attention. I especially like greyscale and limited palettes.(edited)
And just to clarify, I do like anime-style art when it has expression and/or skill behind it; just not when it looks generic and manufactured. Overall, though, it’s the writing that’s ultimately the most important thing to me in a comic, so I’ll enjoy comics for their writing even if I’m not a fan of the art.

january reading
why was this january at least 3 months long
unequal affections, lara s. ormiston (audio) this is jane austen fanfiction about an alternate version of the story where lizzy does accept darcy’s first proposal - their ensuing engagement, which (because lizzy doesn’t go off about how she feels about darc in this one) is full of unspoken conflicts and tensions & hella awks. the initial premise needed some suspension of disbelief but once i got over that i found it super enjoyable, pretty believable in terms of character interactions and interiority (darcy is a dick), funny & sweet. i don’t think i will necessarily start getting into JAFF now (tho goodreads rly thinks i should), but this was just. nice. wholesome. also now i want to reread p&p..... 3/5
lincoln in the bardo, george saunders (uni) ya know what i really liked this. this is about abraham lincoln mourning his young son willie during the civil war, not exactly a topic i’m particularly (at all) interested in, but the execution is so cool - it’s told partly thru fragments from historical records, books, letters (both real and imagined) and partly thru the voices of the many ghosts stuck in a kind of limbo in the graveyard, who are trying to get willie to move on, while they themselves desperately try to stay in limbo, bitter about what went wrong in their lives and in denial about their state. & it’s done really well, the polyphony and contradiction of the historical record (one chapter has a bunch of quotes about how ugly lincoln was & then the last is like ‘idk i thought he was kinda handsome’), and the ghosts are so sad & bitter & desperate & hopeful. 4/5
the steppe & other stories, anton chekhov (tr. from russian) bunch of short stories from 1880-1890s russia. to be honest, i found most of them pretty boring, although ‘the duel’ is pretty good, an interesting look at how sticking too closely to your worldview/ideology/morality will probably either make you a useless disaster person or a eugenicist douchebag. some of the other stories were okay as well, but overall: 2/5, i’mma stick with his plays
perfectly preventable deaths, deirdre sullivan  teenage ocd witch book! this is a pretty good YA witchy horror book about twins who move into their new stepdad’s castle (yeah he has a castle) in a weird irish village where girls have been going missing for decades. creepy magical-ish things start happening (of course) & our narrator isn’t sure whether her sister’s new age-inappropriate boyfriend is just creepy, or creepy. i love the concept of ocd witchery & the atmosphere is really good as well, but the pacing is off, with slow build-up & a climax that happens way too quickly. also like can someone please say the word ocd it’s not gonna kill ya. 3/5
the priory of the orange tree, samantha shannon gonna be controversial here & say... yeah this should have been a duology. give the world some room to breathe, give the characters some room to breathe (give me another book w/ a cover this spectacular). anyway, this is a bigass book about eastern vs western dragon lore, a holy queendom (go sabran of inys!!), dragonriders, lesbian sword mages, how religion & historiography marginalises women, and magical trees. & like, okay, i wrote a lil thing right after finishing it about how i had some quibbles with it but enjoyed it overall but you know what? the more i think about it/let it sit the more complaints i have and the more annoyed/disappointed i get. 1) i liked all the characters fine, but none of them feel like they have any depth - i feel like i could sum all of the main characters up in like 3-4 words, and while i was rooting for ead/sabran, even this, the most central relationship of the book felt... surface-level. like, there were some big emotional moments but generally all i felt was like ‘good for her’ or ‘that sucks i guess’, 2) this world & its mythology is very much inspired by eastern vs western dragonlore so i understand the need to ground the fantasy world with real-world parallels but the extent to which some of the countries are literally just fantasy versions of real countries was... frustrating? irritating?? this is especially grating as, while inys is very clearly fantasy!britain, there is a lot of cool world-building (religion, aristocracy, history/myth) to make it more than that, while fantasy!japan and fantasy!china are literally just ... ‘what if japan but with dragons’. i did like fantasy!netherlands because at least you don’t see that a lot. 3) so much of the plot is just people travelling to different locations to get and transport different items but most of the travelling is cut short by some magical animal/being turning up and just transporting them in a cutscene.. 4) considering that this is all about dragonlore the dragons sure aren’t as important in the end as the three macguffins of power. 5) i loved so much about kalyba but not where it led, that said i want a kalyba-hawthorn-nurtha backstory.   okay that’s it for now but like. idk. this had a lot of potential but the execution was just severely flawed. 2/5
trust exercise, susan choi this was super hyped, especially for a game-changing twist of some kind, but has a rather low rating on goodreads (3.18!) so y’all know i was intrigued. i’m not going to give away the twist because it is genuinely really cool if not really all that original, but this is a really clever & cool book about theatre kids, teenage dramatics, constructing your own narrative and what that excludes, elides, changes, and most of all consent & abuse (some very triggering depictions of sex/sexual abuse here). i really liked this, and am considering buying a copy so i can reread it. 4/5
soldiers of salamis, javier cercas (tr. from spanish by anne mclean) very meta novel about a writer called javier cercas writing a book (tentatively called soldiers of salamis) about a (real) falangist poet who escaped a mass execution & survived in the forest for a while with a group of republican deserters. ‘cercas’ researches, speculates, despairs, talks to roberto bolano (who compliments his previous books lol), and finally tracks down the man who he believes/imagines/hopes to be the soldier who let said fascist poet go, leading him to consider who really should be remembered & written about. made me think about that one poem about reading ezra pount that ends w/ a veteran saying ‘if i knew a fascist was a great poet, i’d shoot him anyway.’ interesting book altho i far prefer his book anatomy of a moment, one of the weirdest & most fascinating nonfic books i’ve read. 3/5
the stopping places, damian le bas (audio) damian le bas comes from a settled british romani family and, feeling somewhat unsure about his place in & connection to the community, he decided to go on a roadtrip through britain (+france) in a van to seek out the atchin tans or stopping places, starting with the ones his great-grandmother remembers from her childhood before the family became settled. he combines the travelogue with insights into romani culture(s) (mainly british) and history, as well as his own family history. it’s really interesting & engaging (the history&culture more so than the travelogue) and le bas narrates the audiobook himself & sounds like a cool dude. 3.5/5
confessions of a bookseller, shaun bythell  bythell records a year of working as a second-hand bookseller, with an entry for every day. he talks about the impact of amazon, rude & weird customers (but also nice customers), his weird staff, and some of the books he’s reading. the look into bookselling in the age of amazon is pretty interesting but much of this is banal & repetitive, & if it wasn’t the perfect thing to read in little bits while at work i probably would have dnf’d it. 2/5
giacomo joyce, james..... joyce  super short story by my man jamesy joyce that never made it out of manuscript (literal). not much to say about this - it’s interesting to see jj play around with themes while still working on portrait & thinking bout ulysses & the prose is nice, but the whole english tutor feels attracted to his student is a bit... eh. 3/5

ppl i think regis would get along w/ really well despite never officially meeting them (not counting yen or ciri bc obviously regis would get along w/ them):
note: under read more due to length
eskel:
they’re both level-headed & are very familiar with the feeling of being the only sane person in a room. now when geralt or lambert say something incredibly absurd, they just give each other the look™
because of how similar eskel & geralt are, regis immediately feels at ease around the witcher. they were different, of course, but many of the fundamental principles which endeared regis to geralt could also be found in eskel. their friendship comes across as quite natural despite having not known each other for long.
regis is delighted to hear about what geralt was like as a child. eskel tells a bunch of stories, reminiscing upon their childhood & all the trouble the two wolf-school witchers got into. pretty good times all around.
they also both like animals so eskel introduces regis to his goat, lil’ bleater, while regis introduces eskel to his... ominous conspiracy of ravens. eskel’s admiration of regis increases tenfold after that.
when eskel returns to the path at the start of spring, he fondly notices that he has three ravens trailing him every now & then. he starts feeding them seeds & grain when he stops in villages for supplies/lodging. the ravens return the favor w/ gifts, starting w/ giving him dead mice or shiny pieces of metal & ending w/ runestones & other witcher-related supplies (likely at regis’s behest).
they also exchange letters every now & then thru the ravens, which eskel enjoys more than he’d admit out loud. unlike his usual clipped speech & monotone, eskel is much more expressive & open in his writings, to regis’s pleased surprise. there are a few times where eskel’s letters are even longer than regis’s--a feat, truly.
one full moon, the wolf school witchers (eskel, lambert, and geralt) get so incredibly intoxicated on mandrake hooch that they bet regis that they’d be able to land at least one hit on him as a trio... in regis’s giant murder bat form. humoring the three men, regis complies and transforms in the courtyard. lambert immediately passes out at the sight of regis’s teeth. geralt suddenly recalls a vivid memory of regis’s attack on stygga castle & in the case of self-preservation, forfeits entirely by dropping his sword. he then throws up in a nearby bush & joins lambert on the ground. eskel drops his sword but not out of fear--instead, his animal-loving nature comes out full-force and he ends up drunkenly patting regis’s head and scratching his chin. regis gives a happy churr of approval in response.
when vesemir wakes up early the next morning, completely unaware of the previous night’s events, he finds it odd that the keep is so quiet, but goes on w/ his routine. when he goes to the courtyard to check on the horses, he instead finds the 3 witchers asleep--with regis, /still/ in his bat form, acting like a fluffy pillow for the 3 men, one wing wrapped protectively over them as they slept. upon closer inspection, he sees that lil’ bleater is wrapped up in regis’s other wing, sleeping soundly.
vesemir:
rocky start at first bc uhhh why is there a higher vampire in our keep, geralt? but after actually getting to know regis, vesemir becomes quite fond of the vampire. being a fairly old witcher, he enjoys being able to chat w/ regis about things that were popular in their youth. at one point vesemir realizes that regis was actually the same vampire he’d heard of back when he was first starting out on the path--that vesemir had even seen contracts for the vampire’s head but he ignored them bc while he was young, he wasn’t idiotic enough to actually go after a higher vampire (lol @ geralt). they even share a laugh about it.
old slang words!! they both get to use ‘em in colloquial speech w/ each other & laugh at their jokes while the other witchers just roll their eyes.
regis helps update the keep’s knowledge on both higher & lower vampires, penning his own bestiary of sorts on his species, but focusing on techniques & concoctions that could keep witchers safe from harm.
regis’s curiosity regarding the trial of grasses becomes apparent & vesemir gives the vampire whatever books still remain on the process. regis is delighted to see that witchers did have vampire genes in them (from bruxae tongue, specifically).
bonus points for vesemir trying to “sweep up” all the vampire-hunting paraphernalia the keep has, attempting to hide the (lower) vampire skulls, fangs, tongue, claws, etc., that  they had displayed like trophies. regis isn’t all that offended to begin with (his inner scientist was actually intrigued by the vampire parts that the witchers kept preserved), but he does break into a fit of laughter when he stumbles upon vesemir trying to shove an entire stock of black blood potions into a cabinet & ends up dropping all of them at hearing regis approach--the room smells horrid to regis for weeks after tho.
“did you... did you really think geralt never drank black blood in front of me? he was contracted to hunt down a higher vampire.” “...i just didn’t want you to think i was worried about you attacking us.” “hmm, the more i learn about witchers, the more i wonder how your reputation as heartless monster killers has persisted over the centuries.”
priscilla:
it’s an immediate friendship that blossoms between them. dandelion feels a bit jealous that regis feels comfortable to laugh & joke about his nature in front of priscilla when it took regis months to even reveal he was a vampire to the hansa in general. regis reminds him that the first time he so much as smiled and showed his teeth, he had let out a scream and nearly fainted.
regis does his barber-surgeon magic™ and provides priscilla w/ a medicinal concoction to add to her hot tea every morning. it helps incredibly well and lets her speak/sing for longer. similarly, regis also gets a salve for priscilla to put on her scars that help them heal a bit more. eventually, she no longer wears a scarf around her neck and regis is thrilled at the sight.
regis is a big fan of priscilla’s singing. as he himself is not the greatest singer, he finds that he loves listening to her singing as he journals/reads/etc. one time he even dozed off, having been so relaxed, that when he wakes, he finds that priscilla had draped a blanket over him & even managed to prop a pillow behind his head w/o waking him.
priscilla confides in regis when she first thinks that she may be pregnant. given his abilities, he was able to smell the change in her hormones & was able to give her the good news. he goes into barber-surgeon mode™ rt after tho & gives priscilla (and dandelion, once he gets over the shock that he’s becoming a father) a bunch of notes on what sort of diet, exercise, etc., she should do while pregnant. dandelion goes to oxenfurt at regis’s behest to ‘borrow’ more accurate anatomy textbooks and they both pour over the info., wanting to make sure that if he was for some reason predisposed when priscilla was giving birth, dandelion could at least handle it/know what to expect.
shani:
they’re both practicing physicians & it’s a shame cdpr didn’t let them meet (even if they were in diff dlcs).
both get to teach each other different medical-related things!!
regis is more self-taught (but i do headcanon that he learned a lot of his abilities as a barber-surgeon while in the Humanist’s company) & relies on a mix of experience, textbooks (some even written by other higher vampires), and general word-of-mouth (i.e., herbal remedies he’s learned from different villages along his travels) in his practice, tho his specialty is surgery... and haircuts lol
shani actually attended medical school at oxenfurt academy so her knowledge is much more /by the books/ so to speak. bc of this, she’s able to help regis ‘catch up’ on human anatomy terms that aren’t as commonly used by higher vampires (which is where regis got most of his knowledge). also, what shani lacks in experience she makes up tenfold in skill and problem-solving. for instance, she’s able to show regis a sewing technique to close up a wound that she created to save thread since she worked on battlefields for the most part
they both enjoy academia and learning in general, so besides medicine, they also chat about things ranging from politics to philosophy. shani eventually becomes the dean of medicine at oxenfurt in the series, so it’d be nice to imagine that this decision was influenced by regis, who noted that she would make an excellent professor/researcher
regis normally gave haircuts to men, but got the chance to give shani a haircut when she lamented that her bangs were falling into her eyes too often during surgeries and she didn’t want to wear a headband (they shared a laugh thinking about geralt and the headband he used to wear).
anyway, they remain great friends and shani even manages to rope regis into giving a few guest lectures at oxenfurt after she becomes dean. while he frets a little about the possibility of the students, all curious and bright, realizing he isn’t human, the lectures end up being a big hit. and regis can’t deny that he enjoys the attention... it’s not everyday that he gets to ramble about medicine & certain surgical procedures and have a full lecture hall of students eagerly jotting down his words.

>>replying to several messages ! ´ ᵕ ` ♡
(sorry for being so late,..i’m thankful to everyone for taking the time to send me a message)
Tumblr media
!!! !!SASAKO IS THE BEST. (Need...to draw again ....(anime version is nice too..<3))
thank you, and !!! im honored;;
Tumblr media
HEHE!! >:D you sent me this before the e3 trailers i think, you’ve probably seen them now and ahh! Her new look is so cute! Her skirt is way less puffy(?) than in my drawing but auoegbuoeg she looks adorable (shorter hair.♡)
Tumblr media
woh.;;;..thank you!
I don’t know if i can answer your questions satisfactorily(is it a word?), sorry in advance;; (and sorry for being LATE, very late)! I sort of talked about this in this post, but i will copy/paste it since there is a lot of text so it will be easier for you like this (it was an answer about improving drawing anatomy and poses):
“ Tbh I don’t feel the most qualified person to answer this, because i struggle so much with anatomy and poses it makes me cry
but what i can say is that i noticed some improvements in my drawings when i started to really draw regularly from life ; if you can, don’t hesitate to attend life drawing class with models etc, it really helps and it’s interesting.
Drawing from life in general is really a good exercice (and if you don’t know what to draw but damn you want to draw, it’s the best)
you can also look at yourself in the mirror to see if the pose you’re drawing feels natural (how would you place your hand if you stand like this? is this way of sitting really humanly possible, etc) (and take a photo if it feels necessary)
and don’t hesitate to draw feet/shoulders/whatyouwanttoworkon thousands of times !! or well, until you feel familiar with it :>
References are great. (i’m talking about inspiration/refs that help)
(you learn better by copying a picture than by tracing it imo) You will understand the human body better by intense observing;
for poses, the point is getting familiar with how the body is, how it moves, and how all the parts are connected with the others to make it look natural
Drawing simplified poses can help; draw them fast, without overthinking, to have the ‘essence’ of the poses
(I used to work from kpop dance practice video !) (i shoud do it again..:’^o)
I can recommend the Croquis Cafe channel on yt for drawing from models
https:// www (.) youtube (.) com /channel/ UCAZZ8kXStsAD_SJS9LWNdEQ
you can also take a look at websites like posemaniacs, quickposes.. (there are probably more)
And yeah, in the end, i just want to say: you will improve with practice and time, be sure of it !! “
But you had already your ‘keys’ in your message ! trust yourself! <3
and maybe you can try drawing faster without polishing everything or erasing etc
I will just edit a bit what i said in my old text by saying that if you’re young/unconfortable with nudity, life drawing class with model is not absolutely necessary of course, and you can make a lot of progress by drawing yourself, and by drawing your environment / the people around you / etc etc! Also tracing can help a lot (for practice!), but you can trace, then doing the same drawing with the ref without tracing, to see if you understood the forms. (sorry if i’m not clear i’m bad at explaining) photos and observations/study from life (paying attention to the light too!) will definitely make you improve
reference photos really are life saving when you struggle with something in particular. (Had to use one on my latest drawing (you can guess for what......)(..*whispers*toes.), and i looked intensely at my hand to draw kaneki’s and hide’s hands in the process as well.)
but well what i think in the end is the same: you will improve! You’re already improving, with every drawings you make and by questioning yourself.
maybe said like this makes the exercises seem boring or tedious(?) or something like that but really it’s not! :^D ; and don’t pressure yourself too much, have fun and keep drawing <3

i dont take requests now im sorry;; but thank you so much for your interest and for your kind words, it means the world..!!!;;

again, im sorry for being so late at replying.

question for the mun! how did you learn to draw? i'm a basic beginner and i'd love to hear your advice
Yo! I’ve seen my sister mentioning me in an ask ( @theycallmekaibara , how dare you) and it kind of got me thinking of my own process. As far back as I can remember, I think I started off in middle school copying the pokemon from those pokemon guides people could buy at the scholastic book fair™. And other things that I liked. The copies looked half-decent most of the time but every time I tried to draw something original it didn’t turn out well half the time.
Probably around early high school I figured out I wanted to do art as some kind of career so I started searching around like crazy. Reading those ‘how to draw’ books, mostly how to draw manga, tbh, going on youtube, etc and a lot of things I happened to watch or read said pretty much the same things just in slightly different variations.
Those were, ‘drawing every day’, ‘learning the fundamentals’ and ‘drawing a lot, and a lot more other tips I picked up that I’m slowly bringing in to my own practice.
Drawing everyday is simple in concept but if you’re juggling stuff like school and work it becomes hard. You gotta make time for it tho and you will end up seeing the results over time. Drawing for 30 minutes a day for a week you’ll probably be better at the end of that week then skipping and spending 3 hours at the end of the week. You end up seeing results quicker, however, if you combine it with drawing a lot. Someone who draws for 3 hours a day for a month is gonna be better than someone drawing for 30 minutes a day and so on.
Something else I’ve heard recently is that drawing for longer amounts of time a day helps you learn quicker since it takes time to get into a ‘flow state’ for drawing where you end up learning more. Have yet to see proof of that though so I’ll have to get back to you on that one.
Learning the fundamentals is boring and hard but definitely worth it once you start getting the hang of them. Fundamentals are things that are argued about but a few I’ve seen just about everyone I’ve looked at agree to be fundamentals are: Perspective, Form, Proportion, Gesture, Anatomy, Value, Color, and Composition. There are a bunch of tutorials about them all over the internet and in books, so my suggestion it to pick one or two for each and stick to those until you feel like you’ve absorbed the material from them.
Another thing about Fundamentals is that they build off of each other in a way that makes it hard to only study one at a time. Because yeah you get better at one point perspective and you can place things but you go to try and draw something and it’s in perspective but the proportions manage to be all off and you don’t know how to shade and you don’t know where colors go- you get what I mean?
So, my suggestion for that is to either try to learn multiple fundamentals at the same time, maybe having specific days to learn/practice them. Or, spending a couple of days focusing on  small aspects of each fundamental and then moving on to the next, because what both of those do is introduce you to more and more complex versions of each fundamental over time instead of trying to become really good at one thing and having the others suffer.
Of course, all of the learning in the world doesn’t help if you if you don’t actually draw. Color is really the only one of those that you need coloring materials for, the rest you can do with a pencil and paper.
The ratio of learning to actually drawing should be something like: three hours drawing for ever hour spent learning. It really helps to internalize what you’ve learned so you can apply it to other drawings instead of going back to learn and relearn things.
Now, for some specific videos to watch.
youtube
It’s 50 or so minutes long but he gets to the point of the video within half the time I promise.
youtube
Do some of these exercises, maybe as a warmup whenever you want to draw, and your line quality will improve so much.
As a last note, what you draw can really be up to you, you can copy other artists works that you like (though don’t claim them as your own afterwards because that is bad) or draw people from photos. I do advocate you do spend time drawing the things you want to draw even if you don’t think they’ll come out nice because you might burnout if not.

First Year Med Tips
What’s a more pleasing way to start again than posting something quite relevant to the community right? (hahaha)
Anyway, are you an incoming first year med student? or do you have any plans to enter med school soon? well, you might have stumbled on the right post (lol, not really, but humor me please? hahaha)
To start off, I wanted to post something like this because I know how much of a stress it is to start into something without any idea on what’s totally going on. And because I was once in your shoes, struggling to have any some sort of information on what med school really is and just plain tips or advice from someone.
Disclaimer: I may have passed my first year but it doesn’t mean that I’m in the top 10 of my batch. I’m just your regular struggling med student and in no way a genius (like some of my classmates) but I could offer you some advice or tips to cope up with med school here in the Philippines as an incoming first year student and to show you a glimpse on what to really expect.
First Year Subjects:
Basic Biomedical Sciences
Gross Anatomy
Bring your reference book for your dissection just so you wouldn’t get lost along the way. I highly recommend Netter’s as an amazing reference. Also, if you can, invest in a 100 pcs glove box for your group, as well as masks it would be less a hassle to buy one every session (trust me, saves you more time to work ahead at the laboratory). Label your materials (it will be used for the whole year, label them so that they would not get lost and for you not to buy another one when you lost your scalpel or etc.)
Histology
Read in advance your laboratory exercise, it will be helpful for you. It would also guide you on what slides you’ll take. Research ahead on what the slides look like so you’ll have an idea on what to label and draw ahead. Don’t forget to bring your coloring materials. Color pencils, highlighters, fine liners help a lot in making sure your drawings look good.
Basic Neurosciences
Be familiar with everything, during laboratory, make sure that you know where the gyrus and sulcus are. Don’t forget to take a photo of everything and label on them.
Phyisology
If you’re a visual and audio learner like me, it would be helpful for you to search up some videos in the internet after a lecture. NinjaNerd is a very helpful reference for your physio topics. (istg!! I owe 50% of my learnings from him)
Embryology
If you go to the same school as me, read on the chapter summary. It will help you have a general idea about it. Reading the whole chapter helps you familiarize but the summary is enough.
Basic Radiology
Review the powerpoint slides by your lecturers! Take some time to actually read and review them not just during your exams, this will help you a lot since they are mostly diagrams and scans.
Family and Community Medicine 1
- Go to class. Don’t take this for granted. The subject is really nice to keep you grounded on what are really the main issues in the community that are related to health. It will help you appreciate the work of a family and community physician. You will be mostly doing paper works in this so team up with classmates who are actually hardworking and that helps you in work load.
Patient-Doctor Relations 1
- This is actually super fun. You get to have your first hospital exposure but only at the out-patient department. You will be taught on how to take a patient’s history. And if you are a socially awkward person like me (whose premed is biology and have no background on this) try to observe your classmates (especially the nurses) and if possible ask help if you have any difficulty. It will only be difficult at the first try but once you get the hang of it then you’ll be able to ace it. It’s not always that you get to take a patient’s history tho, it would only be 2-4 times this year, but hey it’s still good practice right? Try to follow the format given by your professor and do not just rely on your classmate’s history taking, make it your own so you’ll know how to make one.
1. Don’t be absent. Attendance in college may not be a huge deal for some universities but in med school? it is HUGE. (at least in my school) Attendance is checked every activity and every lecture (trust me, I was the class beadle). The reason why I tell you this is that, it will help a lot on your image to your professors. It shows that you are serious enough to attend your classes. (Even if you think you’ve covered this topic in your undergrad, still attend your classes, you’ll never know what things will your lecturer emphasize and possibly where he/she get questions for your exams)
2. Take notes. Lectures in Med school usually span for 1.5-3 hours depending on what the topic is all about. To keep yourself awake, one tip would be to take down notes, (may it be in pen or paper / electronically with your ipad or laptop!) trust me, it will help you during finals or exams to know what were the things emphasized by your lecturer.
3. Participate and Perform in Laboratories. Most of the subjects under BBS have laboratories (except for embryology). Try to make sure that you know every exercise and that you would not waste your laboratory period. This is because this will help you during your OSCEs or your Objective Structured Clinical Examinations.
4. Make your Small Group Discussions interactive. Use visual aids, like powerpoints, flashcards, quiz bowls, etc. Some facilitators may not be the fun type but most of the facilitators would appreciate on you simplifying the topic for your groupmates (BUT please make sure not to skip on important details).
5. Plot your school activities and exams. Med School is very fast paced, you tend to have long quizzes every monday and sometimes it gets really draining. That’s why I highly suggest to take note and plot in your calendar when will your bimonthlies start, this would give you an idea on how many days there is left before you start reviewing for it.
6. Always take a photo and label! I’ve said this once, and I will say it again. Don’t be a lazy ass (like me, who only do this when I feel like it TT)  This is applicable to your laboratories, especially in histology and anatomy. When you have your lab exercise, always make sure that you get the slide that your teacher emphasized, have a photo of every slide and label it on that night. trust me. this will help you in your practical exams. And don’t forget to ask for help especially to your professors and classmates.
7. Find an outlet. It would get really suffocating at times when you are bombed with all these school works. And so I suggest to find an outlet, go to the gym, watch a youtube video or two every once in a while. So that you wouldn’t feel too choked by all these academic stress.
8. Keep all your notes by Bimonthly. Trust me on this, buy a big envelope and place all your notes and transes once the bimonthlies are over. This would really help you for finals so that you wouln’t be looking for all your scattered notes and print them again. Save the environment.
9. You don’t need to buy all your books. If you know someone from the upperclassmen, ask for a pdf copy of your books. The books really cost around 3-5,000 pesos each and it would be a pain in your wallet or parent’s wallet. (Or if you can afford it then it’s also alright with me tho hehe) But for me, you don’t really need to buy all of them, if you don’t want to. Befriend an upper classmen or two then ask for a pdf.
10. You are not alone. (oooh scary jk but you get me right?) You are still at an adjusting phase. First year brings a shock to most people on how med school really works. And I guess a good advice that I could tell you is that you are not alone. Your classmates and friends are also going through this. Everyone is struggling in med school (I still am) and that’s ok. You’ll find your groove soon enough (hopefully me too). Don’t be in a rush and don’t pressure yourself too much, just take things one day at a time. One task at a time. There will be days that you feel so bad that you don’t want to do anything and that’s ok, find someone to talk to, vent out what your feeling, contact your mentor, go to the gym, bake a cake, then move on. Make your bad day into good.
I’m not sure if these are enough but if you do have any questions feel free to dm me. And don’t forget that you are still a work in progress. Things will get really rough and that is because you are growing to become a skilled and good physician. If you’re not struggling then maybe you’re not really learning? (lol what? hahahaha idk) but really, just trust the process. You can do it! I believe in you!

it was suggested to me to update my FA page since furries like to help people - especially other disabled peeps. Instead it just made even more drama I guess  lol...
I feel I was very transparent these last few months about me literally grinding my arm to keep it in the most minor shape and not let it wither like I’m usually required to do by doctors because I didn’t want to spend 3-6 months getting back muscle memory and quality of art that people expect from me.
Please feel free to look at my entire art tag - I share MOST of my content (including wips/messy shit). You’ll notice the quality of my work fluxuates constantly - it’s from my current degrading situation. I thought I was being very open about this but shrugs...??
http://popcornless.tumblr.com/tagged/AJARTING
Don’t forget to also please look at my @cloverly-ponies too I did a LOT of artwork there while trying to boost my self esteem and confidence. It’s one of my favorite things to draw is ponies so if I get “blocked up” or my arms are especially tired and weak I can typically still sorta draw a pony for fun.
This time I did most of my focus on pillowings so I can be caught up and also wanted to practice my design skills. I don’t know how it works for other artists but designing is not a skill that comes strongly to me and it’s something I personally had to work at really hard in order to make acceptable content for others. Just means research and practice, practice, and more practice.
I choose to do paca trades for COMMON-ONLY-PILLOWINGS as a test and exercise to get both pillowing anatomy down for commissions and to refreshen myself for design customs and work I currently owe. And I owe a lot. But the problem with this is I owed them during my prime - they expect THAT quality of nice sketch, approval, smoother lineart, and not slapped on colors. I guess this is probably me overthinking and being way too hard on myself right now - but that’s what they ordered and I want to give them that.
Test commission I did for a friend who understood my circumstances. Very loose, very sketchy, sloppy coloring. However they told me that’s okay, just let myself experiment and I was grateful for that. It’s hard trying to get yourself in the ring again when you arm continues to fail and shakes under stress. (By stress I mean literally holding it up and gripping a pen. Yes. That’s really hard.)
But recently between personal exercises, stretches, and consistent work I finally was able to make a completed order like this!!! Exactly the quality area I want to be at for my work - the owed work!
So? Yeah. This test process was reckless of me, I should have been resting during my sick spells but instead I pushed myself and I paid off. My arm has some strength and burns to draw every day even if it’s practice work. But I’ve been so sick and exhausted trying to get moving junk ready cause you just know end of July will be here before we’re ready.
My goal with all of this was to keep my arm strong and stable so when we get to WI and my work station is set up, which personally I hope will be done within a week (give or take internet set up tho..??) I can immediately slam myself into working myself sick for catch up. Because anons, it’s really really important to me.
I don’t know why anons are targeting me on @closedspeciesdrama but please.. Can you lay off just until after August 1st? I’ll eat all the shit you want to dish me then. I will take the beatings. Just please let me worry about moving instead of you peeps trying to ruin my job and livelihood through harassment.
I’ve slow. REALLY slow. My recent flare took way more time than it should have. I’ve upset a lot of people and they have every right to be upset with me if they have any problems I always encourage my customers to please seek me out and chew me out. They EARNED that right the moment they decided to do business with me. I will gladly take it from them - but you anons? Please step back. If you’re a miffed customer, just please talk to me about it. Let’s try to set up some due dates for your projects. Or else let me try to figure out a refund for you come after that first week of August. I’m fine with that. But please, just talk to me. Don’t harass me on anon - it’ll just burn out spoons that I need for work or packing.

How can you treat a heartbreak/depression/existential crisis?
My 21 Tips on Keeping Your Shit Together During Depression
1)   Know that you’re not alone. There are people who are depressed, people who have been depressed, and people who just haven’t been hit with it yet.
2)   Understand that the Happy People are usually acting out of some genuine (albeit misguided) concern for you, that it’s coming from a good place, even if the advice feels like you’re being blamed for your disease. Telling you these things makes them feel better, even if it makes you feel like shit. (If they insist on keeping it up, see #12.)
3)   Enlist the help of a professional.  See your doctor. You need to talk about the ugly stuff, and there are people paid to listen and help you find your way to the light at the end of the tunnel. Know that it takes time to find someone you trust even if it is a professional. There are a lot of judgemental scum bags so don’t lose hope and keep looking until you find your person
4)   Understand that antidepressants will only do so much. They’re useful, they’ll level you out and give you the time you need to figure out your own path to getting well. They can be helpful. There are lots to choose from. They may not be for you, and even if they are, they take some time to kick in. Conversely, they may not be for you. Work with your doctor. Just keep in mind tho there are a lot of risks and I can go into them if you want but all in all just do your research.
5)   Pick up a paintbrush, a pencil, an activity you got joy from in the past and re-explore that.  Or, sign up for the thing you always wanted to try. There is a long history and link between depression and creativity. It’s a bright light of this condition, so utilize it to your best advantage.
6)   Eat nutritionally sound, regular small meals. If you’re having trouble eating, try to focus on what you’d like to eat. I went through a whole couple months of just eating spaghetti. It wasn’t a lot and it was once a day but it was something. My weight is something that I have always struggled with because when I get stressed/depressed/ or have anxiety I cannot eat, and it is honestly the worst. However, for the people that if all you want to do is scarf down crap, try to off-ramp it by downing a V-8 and doing #9 for 15 minutes, and see how you feel. Eating horribly will make you feel worse, I promise. Please eat healthy and drink lots of water, it will give you energy.
7)   While you’re doing #3, get some bloodwork done. If you’re low on iron or vitamin D, or if your hormone levels are doing a rollercoaster,  these can all contribute to zapping your energy or switching your mood.
8)   If you’re in bed and the “insomnia hamsters”, as I like to call them, are on the wheel of your head, watch Nightly Business News on PBS. This has the effect of Nyquil.  Swap out your coffee for herbal tea. If you just cannot sleep, try the next tip….
9)   Learn how to meditate. Start by focusing on your breathing. Not sleep, not thoughts. In through the nose, out through the mouth. Meditation is focusing on being present in your body, not careening around in your brain. It may not be as good as sleep but it will give you some rest and recharge you.
10) Face a window as often as you can – at work, at home. Look out into the world. Watch. Observe. Try to find something you find pretty or interesting to focus on. And, handily remember that one in five of those people out there feel the way you do.
11) Cry. Better out than in. Sometimes it’s not convenient or career-enhancing to cry, so find a private place as best you can and let the tears go. Carry Kleenex and face wipes and extra concealer if you wear makeup. You can always claim allergies.
12)  Any “friend” who resolutely believes that your depression is because you’re lazy, because you’re not trying hard enough, who blames you for not bootstrapping out of it- that friend needs to be cut off. Polite (#2) is one thing, but there is a limit. You don’t have to explain, you can just not respond. You feel badly enough, you don’t need their “assistance”. Please just cut negative people out. No company is way better than bad company
13)  Limit your time with people who drain you. You know who they are. Often you don’t have a choice- but you can put the meter on. And, subsequently, be aware of what you’re asking of those close to you.
14)  Everyone has shit they’ve got to deal with. What you have been saddled with is your shit. Recognize, just as you’re not alone, you’re also not unique. The grass may look greener, you may be jealous or envious of others who don’t have to deal with depression, but you likely do not know everything that’s going on with them. So please keep that in mind. Keep a positive mind and remember that everyone has their own battles going on that they have to handle, in a way thinking this way can really let a lot of weight off your shoulders because it reminds you that there is so much going on in this world than your own mind and its relieving.
15) Let go or be dragged. This is an old Buddhist saying. It’s a very useful way to frame aspects of depression. Betrayal, anger, fear… letting go is a process – often a painful and difficult process - but it’s ultimately going to show you the path out of this terrible place. Repeating the mantra can help when you’re feeling gripped by these feelings.
16)  Wear clothes that make you feel confident. SO IMPORTANT!! It takes as much time to put on nice clothes as it does to put on sweatpants. You will want to wear the sweatpants. Fight the urge. The whole “look good/feel better” campaign isn’t limited to cancer and chemotherapy. Or women. And honestly the more you put into yourself that the world can see the more you will get out of the world. People think its so superficial but think about it this way. Yes do not care what people think, but if people see that you don’t put any work into yourself why should they put into you, you know?
17) Avoid fictional drama and tragedy like the plague. No Grey’s Anatomy, no to The Notebook, or anything that won a Pulitzer prize. You’ve got enough going on In Real Life. Comedy only. Or trashy stuff.
18)  Simple exercise, if you can. It can be something as simple as taking the stairs up a flight, or walking around the block. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, it doesn’t have to involve climbing a mountain or running a marathon. Baby steps. Also if you can get into yoga. So many mental and physical benefits.
19) Depression will lie to you. Depression will try to tell you what others are thinking.  That you are unloved and unworthy, that others think little of you or don’t care – or even wish you harm. You are not a psychic. Keep repeating that. “I am not a psychic”.  Repeat..  Repeat..  Repeat..  Repeat..  Repeat. The only way to know what another person is thinking is to up and ask them.
20) If you are well and truly losing this battle, reach out to someone. I’ve been the random friendly-but-not-close person who has fielded the occasional outreach. I like to think I’m not judgemental and generally resourceful, and others have thought the same, so they called and asked. You know someone like me. And they will help you. You can always come to me if you need to vent or need advice. Thats the great thing about tumblr if you feel like you dont have anywhere else to go.
21) Forgive yourself.  I’m writing out all these tips, and I can’t always muster the strength to even stick my nose outside, or walk up the stairs, or eat my vegetables. Today, I got outside for ten minutes. I will try again tomorrow. And I will try again the day after that.
This list will not cure you. This list will not flip on the happy switch. God, I wish it were that easy. But steps like this will help and one day hopefully get you out of the funk, and you will be more stronger than ever.

Commission Recommendations
I do not take commissions personally (I don’t have a working PayPal! D:) but I can recommend buddies of mine who do! Together they have a range of styles and specialisations, so I’m sure one of them with meet what you’re looking for. I also met all of them via the Fallout fandom, so while they’re all flexible artists with differing strengths, know that if you’re following me for Fallout content all of them can handle it!
Note: they might not be taking them CURRENTLY - their slots might be full, they might be busy with work or college, they might be on a wellness break. But these are all people I can recommend who regularly take commissions, so if they’re not open right now, they may be soon!
❖ is a link to their current commission page, if they have one. 🚫 are things that the artist refuses to do (non-negotiable!)
Note that 🚫 are what are provided to me by the artists themselves, rather than to a universal standard. So just because one artist thought to say “no X, ever” doesn’t mean all others are “yes X, sure!” If you’re not sure, ASK!
Tumblr media
❖  @vectober [NSFW, tagged] (see also: @vect-doodles) Cartoony, but not necessarily ‘cutsey’. Wonderful anatomy and graceful elongated shapes. Sketches and colours. Met her through Fallout fandom, but she also has a lot of history with WoW, and will do anything if you give her a ref. Comfortable with drawing NSFW, both pin-ups and more explicit. Regularly hosts streams, so you may even watch your piece being drawn live! NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: non-con, furry, extreme gore, loli
❖  @monster-jensen (see also: @jensen-couch-art) Caricatures, cartoons. Usually sketches or simple colours, but he is also a wonderful painter. People (including ghouls) and monsters make up most of his content. He’s great at full-art paintings, but rarely takes commissions for them as they are very time-consuming (and priced to match). You could try! Suggestive/pin-up content is a-ok, but explicit is no-go. NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: explicit, furry
❖  @yabbyabb  (see also: @hatchanddixie) Soft playful shapes. EXCELLENT choice for cute and fluffy content. Will also draw monsters, esp monster-girls. Cartoons, avatars/icons. Her speciality is people (inc ghouls), but for you, she’s willing to try animals and furries! See her illustrations in the #yabbyabb doodles tag or on her RP blog. NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: gore, mecha, non-con
❖  @dunesand Specialises in character designs and costuming. Can draw your characters or design you a new one! Humans, monster-humans, gijinkas, more. Highly detailed work. Has a personal interest in cultures of eastern Asia, esp of fashions. The passion shows in their work! I especially love their use of layers in costumes and the mask aesthetic. Tasteful/artistic nudity is okay, but no sexual content. NSFW: ❌ 🚫: explicit content, fetish
@surk3 Specialises in monsters, demons, distorted beasts, and designs of same. Beautiful digital painting! Her rendering is seriously unreal. An excellent choice is you want something slick, scaly, or creepy. Loves to try different styles from common media, ranging from cartoons to realistic renders, making her an adaptable artist. NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: underage/loli, scat (reserves the right to decline fetish case-by-case)
❖  @skizoh High-contrast B/W comic-style, use of silhouettes and harsh lighting. Angular, sharp. Very noir! Her use of colour is usually as a bold accent to dark solid shapes, but she does full-colour painted pieces as well. Usually moody colour schemes (teal, purple, green). She’ll often use high-contrast colour, too - eg main base of dark teal, but with bright orange highlights to really >POP!< Is willing to do explicit content, but exercises personal choice as to fetish pieces. NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: fetish (negotiable)
❖  @ohmdo Raw, textured (GREAT for dark/villainous content!). Stark b/w, or vibrant colour. Excellent use of anatomy and contrast lighting. Most frequently draws monsters, humans, pokemon gijinkas. Has professional experience in the entertainment industry. ART GOALS, TBH - learning a lot from him. Willing to do gore and monsters, but not sexual content (suggestive negotiable, but nothing explicit!). NSFW: ❌ (negotiable) 🚫: illegal content (everything else is fair game!)
❖  @amummy (see also: @amummyart) Specialises in full-colour digital painting. A soft, oily aesthetic, with slick highlights. Great use of geometric shapes. Humans, ghouls, monsters, aliens, toons, more. Her art blog and personal are the same so if you want to see samples of her work they’re under #my art. Nudity, intimacy/fluff, and mild gore are okay, but passing on the harder stuff. NSFW: ❌ 🚫: extreme gore, explicit, violence/suggestive vs child/animal
❖  @rhobi (see also: @sunshineart) I’d describe their work as ‘crisp’. Pronounced borders. A sort of cell-shaded, pixel-art style. Humans, ghouls, furries/scalies, beasts, monsters, robots, mechs, more - original or fanart, including turnaround sheets. I personally love their monster designs, and they can design you your own as a commission as well. Their art and personal are the same blog so you can see images at the #art tag! They’re also willing to negotiate suggestive or softcore NSFW or nudity (but nothing graphic!). NSFW: ✔ (with conditions) 🚫: explicit/hardcore
@izzy-cat-draws (see also: @izzy-fat-cat [NSFW, untagged]) Mostly does sketchwork commissions (or monotone rendered). May do full renders or coloured pieces if you ask him nicely! Has accomplished use of composition and perspective and experience with NSFW content. Draws humans, ghouls, furry, robots, and fanart (esp for fantasy and sci-fi). Specialises in furry (including NSFW furry and fatfur). NSFW: ✔ 🚫: excessive gore, scat, watersports
@snackrat Haha nice try my PayPal doesn’t even work no more, you can’t commish me, try again binch (I may do art trades or collabs tho, chosen on a case-by-case basis), specialises in trash, memes, shitposts, COLOURS NSFW: ❌ 🚫: mecha (small parts ok, eg bionic limbs), fetish

Hi! I'm the anon who was asking a lot of questions lolololol and thank you really! For answering my questions 😁this is last one tho (I think) could u possibly give me some tips on drawing?
No worries!! I guess I think of a few general tips for you but if you have anything specific you’d like to know as well feel free to ask me :DTIPS!1. Create an inspiration side blog and reblog everything that inspires you! If you’re looking for an inspo boost you’ll have a nice reference point. You can even use a tagging system so you can find things that inspire background ideas or colouring ideas and then you can specifically take a look at those examples you’ve saved. Here’s an example of mine!    IMPORTANT: if you’re going to copy something as a reference/practice exercise, DONT post it online unless you have explicit permission from the artist you copied from. If something is recognisably copied it’s bad to post w/out permission BUT if you copied a technique and it’s NOT recognisable at all then congrats you’re on the way to developing your own voice! There’s nothing that’s fully original but if you can put your own twist on something then that’s fab!
2. If you’re posting online, don’t be disheartened by lack of notes. Remember there are probably thousands of people posting stuff every day that get 0-3 notes. It’s not a sign that you’re bad, just that you haven’t been noticed yet so you gotta keep working! Try to beat your own note score rather than comparing yourself to others! I feel like competing with yourself is always a fast way to improve!      BONUS TIP for posting online: From my experience, artwork with a popular ship in it gets a lot more attention than original stuff or singular people when you don’t have a big following. If you’re passionate about a ship, draw stuff with them in it (doesn’t even have to necessarily be romantic, they could just be hangin out) and make use of tagging it with the ship tag! Shippers are thirsty and will trawl tags - that’s where you’re more likely to get noticed!
3. The classic: Practice. Again, compete with yourself rather than comparing yourself to others. Do something better than your last drawing but don’t worry if it’s not levels above.
4. Watch speed paints and anatomy lessons! I really like this dude’s tutorials for anatomy - his methods really resonated with me. This youtuber also does a pretty good series for beginners that’s simple and easy to understand (aka it’s not like drawing realism). I don’t fully agree with EVERYTHING (when you know what you’re doing you can kinda counter some of the things she says not to do) but I think it’s a good starting point.
5. Having a reference blog is also good, or just knowing one you can look up. This is mine here you’re welcome to refer to! I tag everything with ANY word I think refers to the image (including pluralising it) so that when I go on it and I’m looking for something specific I can generally just type what I’m looking for and find it. (I.e you could go onto my reference blog and probably type /tagged/trees at the end of the url and find a bunch of posts relating to helping u draw trees)
6. You’re allowed to use references! Don’t feel like you’re a cheat if you can’t draw a pose from your head! Tracing a photo is fine when you’re learning, too, especially if you took the photo but remember if you wanna be posing stuff on your own work on using a reference without tracing!
WELL! I think that’s the best I can offer for general tips! Sorry that got kinda long hahaha..! I hope this helps! If there’s anything I didn’t cover that you’re curious about shoot me another message :D
