Watching Togon just break at the news of Nyang's death is...something else. He's been miserable before (a LOT!) but he's never truly broke before now. When the man who'd do anything to stay alive asks his eunuch to kill him - this is EVERYTHING that I watch dramas for!

Honestly, it's just as well that the drama ends with his death on Nyang's lap because she, while devastated, can go on - the woman is incapable of stopping no matter what; she's lost pretty much everyone she's loved by the end (and lost herself from the early eps as well) but however mangled, will be able to continue. He would not have been able to, if the roles were reversed. This is his reaction BEFORE they get together and when he, while messed up, is nowhere as messed up as he gets later. So yeah.

Togon is the dramatic, codependent mess we deserve as a ML.

This man is not unhinged. Being unhinged would imply at some point there were hinges to begin with.

The reason he is so codependent on Nyang IS because he has nothing and nobody else - he's a barely functioning man in a horrific environment and Nyang is the one crutch he discovered to cope. And now it's gone.

How do I love that he literally collapses from heartbreak, like a Victorian heroine while Nyang is the one out there scheming and fighting. This is glorious.

Honestly, Togon curling into a ball having actually lost the ability to speak from grief IS EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGG

And then his getting out her handkerchief he stole a while back...

And just moaning...

This is his grieving for a woman who is not his wife or concubine, who's never said she liked him back, and who he knows picked another man. I am in DRAMA HEAVEN!!!!
