5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! (and if I don't it's legit cause I forgot/thought I did and AO3 ate the comment). I love the community aspect of fic writing so if you take the time to leave me a comment, I love to engage. I especially love it when commenters ask questions and look for discussion.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? probably one of the old Prequel Star Wars Fics I wrote way back in the day.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Right now, it's a tie between You're the Lighting of the Blaze and Bright Star

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not on my fics directly but I have gotten some rancid hate in my inbox re: Abby (And then that escalated to telling me to end myself so). This is why I now have anons turned off. Sorry guys.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do write smut! I'm not sure what it means by 'what kind'? I've done a few solo smut-shots, and Maiden will have a few explicit scenes when this arc is completed. I'm definitely someone who loves Plot with a side of Porn, and as long as the smut flows well and isn't overly repetitive, I'm here for it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I have written a crossover! I had a mini-series of Whedon-verse/Supernatural called It Must Be Tuesday back on LiveJournal. Sam and Dean meet River Tam in a bar and the apocalypse happen. Dean and Buffy hooked up. I was acutally very proud of that LOL

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not stolen but I did have some concepts lifted from a Once Upon a Time fic

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I'm aware of!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! Soulmates Never Die was co-written with a friend at the time (we've lost touch since then), and then when I was in the Charmed fandom, I adopted out an abandoned fic of mine and was the beta/co-writer on a big future Fic series with Wyatt, Chris, and Chris' friends. Those were some fantastic stories.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Oh man. I really love me Jacelaena and Helaemond still has a soft place in my heart (but the trajectory of a lot of the fics has just been... a turn off). Harry/Luna will always be warm and fuzzy for me (I used to be the ship captain back in the Fiction Alley days). Buffy/Angel was my first real Fandom OTP.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Hmmm... I don't have anything right now that fits that. I did have Isabelle Martin's Life is Totally Over which was a Derek/Lydia future Kid fic that I was actually enjoying but the fandom was such an utter turn off by that point.

16. What are your writing strengths? God fuck if I know. I think I'm really good at tying things together/call backs and really emphasizing those themes. I like to think I'm thoughtful at cause/effect of character action and consequences. 

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I feel like my descriptions are lacking and I get lost in the weeds. I struggle with finding the stakes in a story. Conflict is difficult. 

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? me crying with dote on doing some appropriately translated high valyrian for Maiden instead of just copy/pasting from one of the online translators. Only very, very, VERY few people will know that they're grammatically correct and honoring the original development of HV, but it was important to ME.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Star Wars back in the late 90s.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? Maiden obviously holds my heart and soul, and it's always going to be everything for me, but I'm actually incredibly proud of Fight For Me (If It's Not Too Late). It was a two parter, and I wrote it in the span of a week? Maybe two weeks? and it was the last thing I wrote for a very long time.

Hello, I’m Kayla! I’m, as probably noticeable by my spelling, not American haha. Yeah I guess that’s it. I’ve never been good at talking about myself.

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

I watched it from the start, but somewhere around episode 3 I started actively looking into the fandom and by the end of ep4 I was already in a discord group and writing my first fanfiction. The rest, as they say, is history XD

I am a PatPran, InkPa enthusiast although I did also like the LouisSafe idea which is why i wrote a whole fic about them haha

Beyond Pat and Pran, Pa, Korn and Ink will always be in my heart

favourite episode(s)

As much as I love episode 5, episode 3 is probably the episode I’ve watched the most haha I just love watching Pran coming out of his shell (even if he does get crushed in the very next episode T-T)

favourite scene(s)

The Rooftop comes in at number 1 every time, but also the fight in front of the apartment block just before it, the bus stop scene and guitar scene in ep3, the balcony scene in ep8, the bedroom scene in ep9, so many scenes in ep11, and everything after Pran turns up at the apartment in ep12. Serotonin factories every one. 

one thing you would change about the show if you could

I’d have liked Pat’s anger in episode 7 to have been dealt with a bit more definitely but they pulled it back by giving it proper consideration in episode 11.  Honestly I would have also loved more flashbacks to their pre-transfer era as well as a little more on Icy Pat, but I understand why we didn’t get them. 

what are your some of your favourite fanworks made by other people?

This is a difficult one for me! So I actually did a list of my favourite bad buddy edits here and also fanfics here and here plus I’m pretty sure I did another, but can I find them? No. So I’m gonna add to this by saying also anything by @miscellar (aworkingprinter on AO3).

(if you create fanworks) what are your favourite fanworks that you’ve made?

Some of my own favourites? Well, that’s trickier haha! Probably A Fine Line Between Hormones and Home, The Space Pirate and the Officer of the Law and, just because it was my first fanfic in the fandom, He’s No Romeo.

Pancakes for Dinner by Lizzy McAlpine always makes me think of pining Pran, Heather by Conan Gray also gives huge Pran in episode 4/5 vibes. Alas I can’t think of one that screams Pat though I know I have thought that about songs before. No doubt I’ll be listening to a playlist tomorrow and be like “oh yeah, this one!”

It was like something out of his worst nightmare… yet it was no dream, nor was the pain and guilt and fear he felt, threatening to overcome him. 

He was doing his best to clean the residual blood and dirt off her face when he felt someone tugging at his arm, and whipped around to see Krile, accompanied by two Adders conjurers. 

"Step back and let them work," the Lalafell ordered him, her voice stern. And though he was loath to leave her side… he did as the woman commanded. Somewhat. Moving only as much as the healers needed, but still staying within arms reach. Just in case… In case she needed him. Like he desperately needed her. 

He felt a hand wrap around his finger, as he glanced down to see Krile giving him a reassuring smile. 

"She is in good hands, Varrus," the smaller woman assured him. "She's strong, I just know she will pull through."

He gave a small nod, willing his heart to believe the woman's words… But how could he? 

Hand - Chapter 84: It Took 84 Chapters To Get Here

He took another cautious step towards her, and she, ever-so-hesitantly, rested a hand on his chest, her heart racing as she touched his warm, smooth skin. Gently, he reached down and placed a hand on her cheek, his touch impossibly soft as he lightly ran his thumb along her lower lip.

It was as if all time stopped, as he ever-so-slowly tilted her chin up, closing the space between them as he pressed his lips to hers. She felt her heart pounding in her throat - his kiss was so soft, so sweet, so gentle, light as a feather, yet all-too-brief, as he pulled back moments later, just enough to meet her eyes, his expression a mixture of worry and joy, his gaze searching her face. An unspoken question - was that ok? Did he do something wrong?

She chose to answer by throwing her arms around his neck, pulling his lips down to meet hers once more. At which point, she physically and mentally froze, realizing she had no idea what to do next.

Only - Chapter 108: A Home for a Hero

"Then we'll just have to start our own family," he chuckled - only for the woman to whip her head around, eyes wider than the moon above, regarding him with what looked like something akin to fear. 

"What? Did I… say something wrong?"

"No," she shook her head, still staring at him, "just that… How I respond changes whether or not I lose you, and I… I can't stand to think that."

"Lose me?" He tightened his grip around her, pulling her as close as he could. "Nonsense. Only when my soul returns to the Lifestream will you ever actually lose me. I don't care if you want twenty little Elezen babies running around, or none; all I want is to make you happy, to give you whatever it is you desire."

The woman visibly relaxed in his hold, her gaze softening as a single tear escaped her eyes, rolling softly down her cheek, only to be stopped by his lips meeting her skin.

Once - Chapter 103: The Children of the Sun

Varrus heard a yelp; alarmed, he turned to see Jess sinking down into the water beside him. 

"It's cold!" she hissed, wrapping her arms around her torso as she scanned the depths. It seemed she eventually found what she was looking for, as she pointed beneath them, before swimming down towards the lake's floor. 

And Varrus couldn't help but sit back and watch her, the moonlight glinting off her pale skin, her hair gently wisping around her in the water, her eyes shining as she turned to look up at him, every bit as gorgeous as the first time he set eyes on her. 

"Are you coming?" she asked, somewhat impatiently. 

"Sorry," he offered, swimming after her and wrapping an arm around her waist once he got near, pulling her close. "I couldn't help but admire your beauty." He gently leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers - an odd feeling, underwater, but certainly not a bad one, as she kissed him right back. He felt a smile grow upon her lips, as she pulled back with a snort a moment later.

"What was that for?" 

"Because I felt like it," he replied with a shrug and a grin, giving her one last, quick peck before releasing her from his hold and finishing the swim down to the ground. Behind him, she scoffed, following him down into the depths.

5. Favorite opening/ending

Favourite opening: 5Ds dark signers arc (LAST TRAIN by knotlamp, the visuals plus the music here are chef’s kiss) Favourite ending: 5Ds pre-WRGP/WRGP arc (-OZONE- by Vistlip, I admit I like this one mostly based on the music!)

13. Favorite deck archetype

This one’s also challenging. Among the ones used by canon characters I know, I think I actually like Carly’s Fortune Ladies the best. Otherwise? I think Darklords are really cool. Back when I gave a shoutout for people to help me with deck archetypes for characters for a future fic, someone also introduced me to P.U.N.Ks and yep. Just yep. That slaps.

15. How did you get into YGO?

Through kindergarden via the TCG, technically. You know, back when mainstream people actually played it casually (it was later pretty much usurped by Magic the Gathering in our schoolyard). I think I was three, there were some boys who acted like they knew how the game worked (I’m 99% sure they knew absolutely nothing about the actual rules and were just imitating anime duels) and I remember finding Dark Magician really cool. I later got introduced to the anime (DM at the time) when I was nine, maybe, on the one, lonely channel that played the yugioh anime in my country. I really got into it with 5Ds a couple of years later, though. Good times.

24. Unpopular opinion?

Idk if this is still an unpopular opinion (I’m hoping the fandom might have grown out of it), but Aki and Crow both deserved their spots in the narrative and were actually both mishandled to a degree. Maybe some parts of Aki’s writing seem more egregiously bizarre, but Crow’s “arc” is also all over the place. Still, they’re both great characters and both deserve to be part of the main cast imo. No “Crow stole Aki’s spot” in my house. They’re both lovely. No more fighting.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Absolutely I do! I try to respond to all of them, even if mostly that's an "I'm glad you liked it!"

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? 

You know looking through my fics to figure this out I have come to the realization that a lot of my oneshots are angsty and a lot of my longfics are . . . not. Or at least that's not their whole purpose. None of my longfics have ended yet anyway so . . . Probably I'd go with either Bound or Sister . . . ? with the angstiest ending, as one is about the Hollow Knight succumbing to the infection and the other is about a vessel getting got by Nosk.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? 

Hough happiest ending . . . Well as I pointed out above my not-pure-angst fics tend to not be . . . finished yet. Either Charmed I'm Sure or Family Beyond a Broken Gateway (not yet posted) might eventually end up with the happiest endings I think. Maybe Paradoxical (also not yet posted)? I don't remember how that one ends tbh. Or if the ending was even figured out yet or not!

8. Do you get hate on fics? 

Nope! Everyone's been pretty nice actually.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? 

Nah, not my thing

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I LOVE crossovers but they're almost all roleplays with other people. I think the only one I've ever actually written by myself that I remember for sure is a crossover is uhhhhh The Phantom Thief Race on ffn. Please don't read it I wrote it when I was 15 and still learning how to write. It was a crossover between DN Angel and Detective Conan/Magic Kaito.

INCLUDING roleplay then the craziest one I've ever written is DEFINITELY one that I've never adapted into a fic that my friend and I just called "tardis fam rp" and it's. Hoo boy. The MAIN crossovers are doctor who/undertale with the main characters of the doctor and gaster, but we had the tardis jumping through whatever universes we hecking wanted and then eventually they made a portal that could allow them to continue going to any universes we hecking wanted and there are. So many oh boy.

Ones that immediately come to mind are gravity falls, fullmetal alchemist, how to train your dragon, supernatural-except-it-was-combined-with-gravity-falls (sam and dean are related to the pines iirc, sam's the kids' dad), uhhhhhhh wander over yonder MAYBE but that could have just been an au branch off the main rp, danny phantom I THINK but that also could have been some au branches- OH I found our pins on their interdimensional travels, awesome. So yeah danny phantom, deltarune, hollow knight, steven universe, toonkind dnd, marvel, detective conan, the greatest showman, bendy and the ink machine, uhhhh there definitely could have been more but that's all I can think of right now. It also included undertale aus like underswap and handplates. And was planned to have more crossovers, like little nightmares or dn angel, but we haven't continued the rp in quite a few years at this point. Muse petered off.

So YEAH that one was ALL over the place and it was a DELIGHT and also no one else is going to see it ever because the plot was such a mess and there's WAY too much to transcribe anyway.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? 

No one has informed me of any.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? 

I don't think so. Or at least no one's approached me for it.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? 

All of my rp adaptations are co-written! Obviously, since they're rp adaptations. But I have an owl house fic in the works, called Paradoxical, that's going to be co-written as well with @conundrumrespeculis

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? 

Myths, Fables, and Fairytales: A Compilation of Grimwalker Legends. I started it excited to write grimwalker legends but the grimwalker legends turned out to be more difficult than I thought to write 😔 I have multiple ideas but getting them out has been difficult.

16. What are your writing strengths? 

Uhhhhhh I don't know. Character interactions? OH OH no I know I'm really good at writing internal character thoughts. This makes sense considering the vast majority of my writing experience comes through roleplay so both character interactions and character thoughts are The Main Feature of that.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? 

Deeeefinitely background descriptions and exposition. Probably show don't tell, too, though I'd like to think I'm starting to get a little bit better at that.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? 

I think it's fun! Usually if I do that I put the translation in the end notes of the fic. Though I don't really do it often. I want to put more spanish in my owl house fics but I need to look up what specifically luz and camila say when they speak spanish to themselves first so I know what kinds of places to put it in and what to have them say. Luckily I recently discovered that people have transcribed the episodes so I won't have to rely off what I hear and can see the words themselves.

19. First fandom you wrote for? 

Ohhh don't make me look back for my ffn account. It was probably The Phantom Thief Race tho, so I guess detective conan and dn angel both?

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Absolutely Charmed, I'm Sure. Quirrel WILL survive and he WILL become a companion charm so we can keep him with us at all times and we WILL have fun hanging out with him and convincing him to live again. I SWEAR I will get back to this fic at some point but the owl house has completely taken over my brain at the moment. I actually have multiple chapters mostly-written right now but finalizing them requires reading the entire fic back (making sure I'm not contradicting myself or writing things that already happened) and I haven't had the motivation to do that in a long time. The plan has been to return poking at it when I'm in recovery after top surgery but it turns out the wait times for top surgery is many many many months. Probably not gonna be till 2025 at the earliest.

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

I WISH I WAS BETTER AT TITLES. The title is always, 100%, the absolute LAST thing I come up with when I'm trying to post a fic. I'll literally tag everything first and then sit there for another 20 minutes trying to come up with a title. If anyone has tips please share 😭😭

19. What is the most-used tag on your ao3?

OK I'm gonna be honest, I don't have that many fics, so other than "Bottom Obi-Wan Kenobi," the other matching tags only occur 2x each. That's "Angst with a happy ending", "Obi-Wan Kenobi needs a hug", and "Unreliable narrator". And wow, I feel like that paints a pretty good picture of what my fics are like. That's my sugar, spice, and everything nice!

27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing?

This is a great question! I would say my most favorite part is the fact that I get to control everything. I've been writing for < 2 years, so it's still a pretty novel concept to me! I get to decide where the plot goes, yes, but also how certain decisions affect the characters, which pieces of canon to use or not use, which kinks to include, etc. It's a lot of pressure, but a great deal of the time I'm so pleased to be creating something that I want. My least favorite part is maybe my place in the community? I don't say this to throw shade or anything, but sometimes I feel like my "reader self" (who reads & comments, who interacts with other authors) is separate from my "writer self" (who ends up interacting with an entirely different set of people). It just exacerbates this weird sense of imposter syndrome I have from writing almost exclusively porn. My stuff doesn't feel like "real fics" which means I don't feel like a "real author", even though intellectually I know that that doesn't make any sense.

41. Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?

Oh I absolutely reread fics. I will actually sometimes have a hard time picking up new fics because I know I can just reread the old ones! It helps when I talk to the author or see them posting about it more casually (rather than just seeing the formal post on ao3) because that little bit of human connection reminds me that I can trust the author to tell me a good story. Their excitement for their work sparks an excitement in me too!

64. Something you love to see in smut.

Hm… I could list plenty of kinks but those are pretty obvious from my ao3 I think. Something a little bit more nebulous is how much I love when one character is pinned in / down / against something. I just think it's soooo attractive. Being held in place by someone's body, someone's presence. Knowing that, yes, if you really wanted, you could move them, but you don't. You want to stay right here, with their gaze on you, with your body getting hot, with the little smirk that plays at their lip because they've definitely noticed your reaction, and whatever they're going to do next, you're at their mercy.

fun fact, accidentally! my parents just thought caitlin was a cool name, but i have some distant ancestor who immigrated to america from ireland who was also named caitlin, and my grandpa was apparently SO excited by the idea that i would've been named after her that my mom and dad were like, "yep, sure! we totally did that!"

2. when was the last time you cried?

when i caught up to the most recent episode of succession on tuesday afternoon. it hit very close to home watching the roy siblings go through that, is all i'll say.

3. do you have kids?

nope! just a nephew i'm a cool gay aunt for, and i'm raising him with all the right things (he loves star wars and batman, i'm doing good)

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?

lol never (always)

5. what sports do you play/have played?

i used to do soccer and basketball as a kid before i found horses, and from then on it's just been the equestrian sports babey

probably whether or not they can take/make a joke. i'm big on a sense of humor.

god, all of them? i loved school, actually, that's why i'm a teacher LMAO loved my science and english classes, though, and in college i loved my latin, film, and psychology classes. (and was a psychology major and film minor, and now teach psychology for a living)

i'm pretty happy teaching, tbh. that said, i would still love to make it to a professional level with some writing one day, either through a screenplay or getting to work on an ongoing comic series. but as much as i know i would write an amazing spider-man comic (pun intended), i don't want that job, actually lol; it just seems like you get nothing but grief.

1. Bianca!!!! I was hoping someone would ask about her, my name in the tvc server is #1 Bianca Enthusiast! I love how she takes no shit while simultaneously is cool with everything? Like when marius was so reluctant but had to tell her that he’s a vampire and she’s like “yes?? Amadeo told me you both were forever ago. Also you literally threatened my life once.” I love her. And when she dresses as a man??? I’m a simple lesbian i see a woman in men’s clothes and I short circuit. Also I think it was the coolest thing ever when she told marius that she was leaving him. I love her so much I’m crossing my fingers that she comes back in a later book!!

2. Gabrielle, I’ve already talked about her so I won’t be too extensive but whenever people describe her as cold i kick my feet and giggle hdhhfhg i love mean women

3. Mael. How is he a real character he’s so funny to me. His beef with marius is hilarious. He’s like “what the hell do you mean you didn’t want to be sacrificed >:(“ also I love that he went from *that* to being maharet’s boy toy. Good for him. Favorite moment is when she fucking throws him off the balcony HGHG

Pandora, unfortunately she isn’t a very memorable character for me :( like i know she was at the very end of tva but I can’t remember if she did anything other than just be at the house as like marius’ emotional support character. But i did like in b&g when she refused to go with him because she knew that they didn’t work well together. And I wanna read her book at some point! Also sorry gonna be a freak real quick but her massacre at the temple in qotd is one of the most erotic things I’ve ever read. I love women and I love blood and guts

Currently watching: The extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies, we are on Return of the King. I know this trilogy forwards and back, but seeing them with all the added scenes feels like I'm watching movies from an alternate dimension. It is as enlightening as it is jarring. 10/10 experience, having a blast.

Currently reading: I just (and I mean *just*) started reading Mother thing by Ainslie Hogarth.

Current obsession: It changes by the day lol. Yesterday it was making ice cream from scratch, tomorrow? who knows. Today though, it's Get Better at Tennis. I'm terrible at it, I have zero hand eye coordination, but I'm having so much fun! I am getting (marginally) better each time. Today we learned by happy accident that my one handed backhand serve is surprisingly pretty solid and a little bit better than my forehand.

being in a public-facing job, i have had to force myself to start making eye contact when greeting and talking to visitors (i have difficulties with eye contact) so i'm getting better at having someone's face be the first thing i process and register. but even still, i tend to notice details more than being able to take in an entire face

I'm gonna say There's something weaved into our windows from Secret Worlds, My weakness made me weep less than I could ever show you from The Calling, These aren't tears / It's just the rain that wasn't brave enough to fall / And what they hear isn’t laughter after all / It’s just your voice learning for once to stand up tall from Inkpot Gods, and kinda the soldiers and blossoms metaphors in Blossoms.

In all these cases I definitely get Vibes and appreciate the metaphors and whatnot but I can't quite wrap my head around exactly what they're saying. If anyone has thoughts about these, feel free to chime in!

...All of them? That's a boring answer but it really depends on the day. Oh! This morning I listened through Ruin to get in the anniversary mood and I think I sang along to Chords, Ruin, Inkpot Gods, and a bit of Drinking Song and Secret Worlds. So there's that!
