❝MOTHER LANGUAGES — SPIDERVERSE HCS

summary ; pavitr with a hispanic girlfriend who teaches him some spanish and he teaches her some hindi.

pairing ; pavitr prabhakar x hispanic fem!reader (no specific race stated)

note ; teehee i was so excited to show off the new layout 🤭 i literally have so much fun writing for pavitr. this concept was so cute, i started working on it immediately so thank you to the anon who requested it <3 mwah 🫶

about three months into dating, pavitr started practicing some spanish on his own. went about his way to get a dictionary that took forever for him to find. he starts writing the words out and takes his time to pronounce them. he takes note that he’s extremely great at reading spanish just a little troubled on the way to say the words.

the very first phrase he ever told you in spanish, he had a slip of paper with the sentence written down. pavitr wanted to make it sweet and maybe tell you right after kissing you but poor boy forgot the phrase. so he had to squint and read off the torn paper.

“tu eres la chica de mis sueños.” (t: you are the girl of my dreams) the second he finished saying it you jumped on him, kissing all over his face, telling him how cute and adorable he is.

you told him that you were practicing hindi in secret to surprise him as well, but you were having a lot of trouble. it makes a big smile spread on his face to know you both had the same intentions.

it’s where he offers to teach you how to speak, read, and write hindi if you can do the same for him with spanish. you agree and then he goes, “hehe >:) and teach me the bad words too muhehehe” you’re just like “pavitr 😭”

pavitr really excited when you’re teaching him spanish. he’s listening intently and repeating each word after you. he doesn’t think it’s hard, but it’s definitely good to have a native speaker helping you out and giving tips.

keeps a separate notebook filled with words and phrases he wants to tell you. of course, they’re all him telling how much he loves you. you also have a separate notebook with hindi written in it and it’s mostly you practicing to write ‘i love you’ and memorize it.

he knows it might take you a while to fully understand hindi and he’s okay with that. you’re the making the effort and that’s what he loves the most about you. finds your confused face cute when he starts rambling in hindi.

you two practice by only having conversations in each others language. he finds it super helpful and you both will correct a word if needed. text messages will sometimes shift from spanish to hindi to spanish again.

his heart and feelings grow for you even more when he sees you talking to his aunt in hindi. she thinks it’s so sweet that the two of you are learning each others languages and don’t find the barrier to be a bother. she even starts to help you too in secret. she wants you to surprise pavitr with what you learned.

i cannot stress this enough. loves to introduce you as his girlfriend in spanish. “esta es mi novia, ella es mi novia”. mi novia this, mi novia that. he gets like a schoolboy when he says it. if he gives you gifts, pavitr always writes a little note that says “para mi querida novia” (t: for my dear girlfriend) or something along those lines.

whenever he meets someone who is either hispanic or speaks spanish too, he’ll speak to them in spanish just so they can ask where he learned. all because he can’t stop saying how his girlfriend taught him how to speak spanish.

he starts picking up on the expressions too. accidentally let “tch, no mames miguel!” slip out when he was getting sent on a new mission. miguel’s head whipped over so fast and just looked at him so shocked like, wtf did you say to me?

“no mames? no mames?! como que no mames miguel?! who taught you that huh?!”

“mi novia teehee :)”

Also, to add to response to that other anon, I *personally* am not a shipper of Halaena and Aemond, but that’s okay! I don’t come in here and tell you that it’s wrong or incorrect or bad ? I love your writing and I love your personality, and I feel like your blog is a safe space!!! Just bc you don’t agree with someone’s views doesn’t mean you can’t follow and enjoy who they are as a person and a writer without trying to prove or disprove anything? Where do I even begin…

PAIN PAIN PAIN IS ALL IM FEELING RN😭 I was genuinely tearing up towards the end of this new part! It started out so cute with them being all lovey dovey and them FINALLY being able to show that to each other a bit more now! Definitely was excited when he mentioned that he wants her to go with him back to England(I am still hoping😭)

Once she arrived at the bar I loved how you wrote “Niall swore he saw fireworks exploding in Harry’s pupils, turning into the shape of a heart as he watched her” bc it just reminded me of how hopelessly in love he is with her and he sucks at hiding it but I find that as a good sign because they are soulmates! I just thought it was a cute and sweet way of describing it from another’s pov! And that cute little moment of Harry admitting he has always been jealous of her with other guys made me giggle! ALSO THE PINKIES TOUCHING 😭

Now the moment she went into that bathroom… I knew things were off but the fact that she was going to get her by the ppl who are suppose to take care of her omg teh ANGER I FELT ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CALLED HER ROSE!!! Yet my girl really was putting Harry first by keeping him safe and don’t even get my started on that letter telling them to reassign Harry 💔💔💔😭😭😭 MY HEART HURT SO BAD WTF! I felt like I was Harry because I was just as shattered as he was!

Her making a plan made me remember to one of the past chapters where Harrry told her to have a Safeway or something along those lines to have when things go bad and I swear I didn’t see that as foreshadowing yet that was so smart of you because it was a bit if a surprise! My heart hurts for her because she deserves more! I also desperately needs Harry’s pov about all of this!

I can’t beginto explain how much I love this story! LITERALLY FUCK ALL OF DSS!!!(expect Harry and Niall ofc) AHHHHH IM BUZZING WITH EXCITEMENT I DESPERATELY NEED THE NEXT CHAPTER! I LOVED IT SO OMG! YOU ARE AMAZING I CANT SAY THAT ENOUGH!-💜

I am so sorry about your pain. I honestly don't know why y'all put up with me. Especially after I gave you all the trip to England you all desperately wanted and just let me rip it away like that. I thought the his heart eyes might be a nice call back to her heart eyes in part 5. And I love any chance I get to have Niall tease Harry in any of my stories. (I'm glad you liked the pinkies, i thought they were a nice little touch--literally).

I lowkey broke my own heart about reassigning Harry and the whole Rose business. I hated breaking Harry's heart honestly. I hope it gets put back together. 😭

So my 7th grade teacher would be awfully proud of me I think about my foreshadowing technique--especially by how much better (i personally think) it has gotten. ALSO I'm glad you noticed in general. Truthfully, this was like the first part of Protection I had written/in my head/ready to go so it was a bit easier to get the foreshadowing done hehehe I think you'll get SOME satisfaction out of the next part of what you mentioned 😉😉😉

I'm so happy you're liking the story so far! And specifically saying you like my Joel ommmmggggggg. I'm know that he is the "same character" in each fic, but in my head each one of my Joels is different.

My headcannon for Feral Woman!Joel is that his motivations initially with helping FW out mostly have to do with wanting Ellie to see him as the person he can be without all the fucked up shit taking precedence over things like being able to be gentler and calmer.

Ellie has seen the violent, protective, ruthless side of him while they traveled across the country, but he wants her to also know he can be patient, kind, soft at times, etc. More of that girl dad type Joel that never really went away.

Not to say he doesn't have genuine desire to help FW out. But in my mind, him wanting to portray himself as a "better person" to Ellie is the sort of starting point of why he would even bother doing something like helping FW out in the middle of the grocery store.

Obviously it isn't long before there's a deeper connection there, and his desire to help her and get closer to her have more to do with his own wishes rather than portraying himself a certain way to Ellie.

It is definitely a very special relationship that they have. A lot of work to build up enough trust to really get more involved and intimate with one another. I think seeing how much effort and time it takes to nurture their relationship makes it all the more satisfying once we get into those portions.

We know how much it's taken to get them where they are, so the gravity of it and how precious of a thing it is are very clear.
